Mualani casually asked, "Say, there's a United Harem of Aether and a United Bros of Aether. Why isn't there a United Kid Friends of Aether or something?"
Keqing put down her chopsticks and cleared her throat.
"Nahida's open to the idea, but she's worried she'd have too much power over the group. She is kind of a vice-vice-president for the UHA. So, she could write the constitution in a way that overly benefits her."
"Wouldn't the others be able to balance her out?"
"Can you see Klee or Kachina doing that?" asked Keqing. "I mean, Klee and Qiqi are cute, but… they might struggle a bit to contribute to a constitution. We tried it once with Klee, but… well… there were complications."
"Like what?" asked Mualani.
On the other end of the table, Yanfei said, "Constitutions aren't official when they're written solely with crayons, each letter in a different color."
"Oh," Mualani replied.
"Also, Klee's 'Constitutional Laws' would be difficult to translate into reality."
"Why's that?"
Yanfei got up, vanishing into a backroom. Moments later, she returned with a packet. She showed the first page to the Natlan newcomers. It displayed a crude drawing of Klee holding Aether's hand while they danced in a sea of smiling flowers.
The second page showed her and Aether fish blasting at Cider Lake. In the third, Klee and Aether blew dandelions; in the fourth one, they flew on Dvalin and hurled bombs into the ocean; and in the fifth, she held hands with Aether and Jean, who she had labeled "Dad 2 and Mom 2."
Mualani cooed, "That's cute."
"Yes, but 'cute' doesn't translate to legislation," said Yanfei.
"So, what about the other kids?" asked Mualani. "Why haven't they written constitutions?"
"Diona wanted to outlaw all alcohol in the Serenitea Pot," explained Beidou. Citlali bristled like a cat defending its territory. "Sayu wanted to reserve the whole Serenitea Pot just for her naps. Qiqi would write one word, forget what she was going to write, and start over."
"I guess all that would make it hard to legislate," said Mualani. "Wait, though, what about Yaoyao, Shuyu, Hannekado, Nepecha, Sigwinne, and Kachina?"
Yae Miko shrugged, "Honestly, after Qiqi, we kind of gave up. The biggest issue isn't with them, per se. For them to form such an organization, they'd need to reserve the mansion for at least a week or two just to write the constitution. That would complicate our time with Aether."
"Also," said Collei, "Kaveh told us he'd never forgive us if we let them make that organization."
"Why?"
"Because," said Collei, "Dori could join."
Mualani shivered. "I see. I suppose giving Dori any amount of governmental power invites its own dangers."
"Dori is manageable," said Yae Miko. "The real issue is that Ella Musk could join."
Mualani stifled her gag reflex. "You know what, forget I asked."
