Rumble at the Gym
At the Shalour City Gym, Lincoln is standing on one end of the battlefield while Korrina stood on the other end; Shauna, Serena, Tierno, and Trevor watched from a spectator stand. Lincoln is focused on defeating Korrina to earn his third gym badge. Gurkinn walked to a side of the battlefield.
"What are you doing here, Gurkinn?" asked Lincoln.
"I act as an official for my granddaughter's gym battles." replied Gurkinn.
"Oh, okay." replied Lincoln.
"This is an official gym battle between Korrina the Gym Leader and Lincoln Loud the challenger." said Gurkinn. "Both trainers will use three Pokemon. The battle will end when one trainer's Pokemon are unable to battle. The trainer with Pokemon remaining will be the winner. Let the battle begin." Lincoln and Korrina each pull out a pokeball.
"Don't expect me to hold back just because you're cute." said Korrina, making Lincoln blush, and Shauna glare at Korrina.
"I wouldn't want you to; this wouldn't be fun for me if you did." replied Lincoln; Korrina nods in response.
"Mienfoo, go!" said Korrina, throwing a pokeball and releasing a Mienfoo.
"Farfetch'd, go!" said Lincoln, throwing Farfetch'd's pokeball, and releasing her.
"Mienfoo, use Fake Out!" said Korrina. Mienfoo's hands glowed orange and it claps them together, creating a shockwave that hits Farfetch'd, dealing damage, and making her flinch. "Now use Meditate!" Mienfoo sits on the battlefield and closes its eyes; a white aura surrounds its body and increases its attack strength.
"Farfetch'd, use Swords Dance!" said Lincoln. Farfetch'd jumps up and spins around, raising her attack strength.
"Mienfoo, use Force Palm!" said Korrina. Mienfoo leaps at Farfetch'd and strikes her with its palm, dealing damage; Farfetch'd begins to twitch.
"Farfetch'd is paralyzed." said Serena.
"Farfetch'd, use Aerial Ace!" said Lincoln. Farfetch'd fights through her paralysis; she flies towards Mienfoo while streaks of white light surrounds her body and she rams Mienfoo, dealing super effective damage.
"Mienfoo, use Power-Up Punch!" said Korrina. Mienfoo leaps at Farfetch'd while an orange aura surrounds its hand and it punches Farfetch'd with it, dealing damage; an orange glow surrounds Mienfoo's body and raises its attack strength.
"Farfetch'd, use Air Cutter!" said Lincoln. Farfetch'd fights through her paralysis and flaps her wings, releasing a stream of light blue, X-shaped energy blades from them and they hit Mienfoo, dealing super effective damage.
"Mienfoo, use Double Slap!" said Korrina. Mienfoo leaps at Farfetch'd and slaps her repeatedly, dealing damage.
"Farfetch'd, use Aerial Ace!" said Lincoln. Unfortunately, paralysis stops Farfetch'd from attacking.
"Mienfoo, Force Palm!" said Korrina. Mienfoo leaps at Farfetch'd and strikes her with its palm, knocking her to the ground, unconscious.
"Farfetch'd is unable to battle. Mienfoo wins the match." said Gurkinn.
"That's rough." said Tierno.
"Lincoln can still turn this around." said Trevor.
"We believe in you, Lincoln!" said Shauna. Lincoln nods before returning Farfetch'd to her pokeball.
"You did your best, Farfetch'd." said Lincoln. He puts Farfetch'd's pokeball away and pulls out another. "Floette, go!" He throws Floette's pokeball and releases her. "Floette, use Fairy Wind!" Floette spins around and releases a wind with pink energy from her body and it hits Mienfoo, dealing super effective damage, and knocking it out.
"Mienfoo is unable to battle. Floette wins the match." said Gurkinn.
"Way to go, Floette." said Lincoln.
"That was great." said Trevor.
"Lincoln's hanging in there." said Tierno. Korrina returns Mienfoo to its pokeball.
"You were great, Mienfoo." said Korrina. She puts Mienfoo's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Machoke, go!" She throws a pokeball and releases a bluish-gray, humanoid, muscular Pokemon with red vertical stripes on its arms, three brown ridges on its head, wearing black briefs and a championship belt around its waist. Tierno takes out his pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Machoke, the Superpower Pokemon, and the evolved form of Machop. Its muscular body is so powerful, it must wear a power-save belt to be able to regulate its motions." said Tierno's pokedex.
"Floette, use Grassy Terrain!" said Lincoln. Floette releases a green ring of energy from her body onto the battlefield; grass grows up from it.
"Now Floette's grass type moves will become stronger." said Shauna.
"Machoke, use Leer!" said Korrina. Machoke glares at Floette and its eyes glowed red, weakening Floette's defense.
"Floette, use Magical Leaf!" said Lincoln. Floette releases glowing green leaves from her body and they hit Machoke, dealing more damage than it normally would have due to Grassy Terrain powering up Floette's grass type moves.
"Machoke, use Rock Tomb!" said Korrina. Multiple gray rocks form around Machoke and it launches them at Floette, hitting her, and dealing damage, as well as lowering her speed. A green glow appears around both Pokemon and some of their wounds heal.
"Grassy Terrain also heals both Pokemon." said Serena.
"And that's not good, considering it heals the opponent's wounds." said Tierno.
"Floette, use Razor Leaf!" said Lincoln. Floette releases green leaves from her body and they hit Machoke, dealing damage.
"Machoke, use Power-Up Punch!" said Korrina. Machoke charges at Floette while an orange aura surrounds one of its hands, and it punches Floette, dealing moderate damage due to her defense being weakened by Machoke's Leer; an orange glow surrounds Machoke's body and raises its attack strength. Grassy Terrain heals some of both Pokemon's wounds; the grass suddenly vanishes.
"Looks like Grassy Terrain wore off." said Trevor.
"Floette, Fairy Wind!" said Lincoln. Floette spins around, releasing a wind of pink energy from her body and it hits Machoke, dealing super effective damage.
"Machoke, use Low Sweep!" said Korrina. Machoke charges at Floette and kicks its tail, knocking it to the ground, and dealing damage.
"Floette, use Magical Leaf!" said Lincoln. Floette releases glowing green leaves from her body and they hit Machoke, damaging it.
"Machoke, use Revenge!" said Korrina. Machoke becomes surrounded by an orange aura and a burst of it is released from Machoke's body and it hits Floette, dealing damage.
"Floette, use Vine Whip!" said Lincoln. Floette releaeses two green vines from her back and they hit Machoke, dealing damage, and knocking it out.
"Machoke is unable to battle. Floette wins the match." said Gurkinn.
"You're doing great, Floette." said Lincoln.
"All right, Lincoln!" said Tierno.
"Just one more win!" said Serena.
"You can do it!" said Trevor. Korrina returns Machoke to its pokeball.
"You rest now, Machoke." said Korrina. She puts Machoke's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Cute and a strong trainer." Lincoln blushes while Shauna frowns. "But you still have to beat my final Pokemon; Hawlucha, go!" She throws a pokeball and releases a bipedal, birdlike Pokemon with a colorful plumage and looked like it was wearing a mask. Lincoln takes out his pokedex and points it at the Pokemon.
"Hawlucha, the Wrestling Pokemon. Although its body is small, its proficient fighting skills enable it to keep up with big bruisers like Machamp and Hariyama." said Lincoln's pokedex. A sad look appears in Lincoln's face when he hears the word 'wrestling' as it reminded him of his sister, Lynn; he shakes his head.
"Are you okay, Lincoln?" asked Korrina.
"I'm fine." replied Lincoln.
"All right, then; Hawlucha, use Hone Claws!" said Korrina. Hawlucha's talons glowed red and an orange aura flares around it, raising its attack strength and accuracy.
"Floette, use Fairy Wind!" said Lincoln. Floette spins and releases a wind of pink energy from her body and it hits Hawlucha, dealing super effective damage.
"Hawlucha, use Flying Press!" said Korrina. Hawlucha flies above Floette; orange energy surrounds it and it dives down towards Floette and crashes onto her; due to Hawlucha's attack strength being increased by Hone Claws and Floette's defense still being weakened by Machoke's Leer, Flying Press did enough damage to knock Floette out.
"Floette is unable to battle. Hawlucha wins the match." said Gurkinn.
"Well done, Hawlucha." said Korrina.
"Don't give up, Lincoln!" said Shauna.
"You can still win!" said Tierno. Lincoln nods before returning Floette to her pokeball.
"You were amazing, Floette." said Lincoln. He puts Floette's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Braixen, go!" He throws Braixen's pokeball and releases her. "Braixen, use Psybeam!" Braixen fires a multicolored beam of energy from her twig and it hits Hawlucha, dealing super effective damage; Hawlucha begins stumbling around.
"Hawlucha's confused." said Trevor.
"Hawlucha, use Aerial Ace!" said Korrina. Hawlucha fights through its confusion and it flies towards Braixen while white streaks of light surrounds its body and it rams Braixen, knocking her back.
"Braixen, use Flame Charge!" said Lincoln. Braixen charges at Hawlucha while fire surrounds her body and she rams Hawlucha, knocking it back; energy surges through Braixen and her speed increases.
"Hawlucha, Wing Attack!" said Korrina. Unfortunately, confusion gets the better of Hawlucha and it smacks itself with its wing, damaging itself.
"Braixen, use Ember!" said Lincoln. Braixen releases embers from her mouth and they hit Hawlucha, dealing damage; fire surrounds Hawlucha's body.
"Hawlucha's burned." said Serena.
"Hawlucha, use Flying Press!" said Korrina. Hawlucha snaps out of its confusion and it flies above Braixen; orange energy surrounds it and it dives down towards Braixen and crashes onto her, dealing damage; Hawlucha flinches in pain from its burn and loses energy.
"Braixen, use Psybeam!" said Lincoln. Braixen fires a multicolored beam of energy from her twig and it hits Hawlucha, dealing super effective damage.
"Hawlucha, use Wing Attack!" said Korrina. Hawlucha flies at Braixen and smacks her with one of its wings, damaging her; Hawlucha flinches in pain from its burn and loses energy.
"Braixen, Fire Spin!" said Lincoln. Braixen releases a stream of fire from her twig and it circles around Hawlucha; the fire hits Hawlucha. When the fiery vortex vanishes, Hawlucha falls to the ground, unconscious.
"Hawlucha is unable to battle. Braixen wins. The winner of this gym battle is the challenger, Lincoln Loud." said Gurkinn.
"We won!" cheered Lincoln.
"Lincoln did it!" said Shauna.
"That was awesome!" said Tierno. Back on the battlefield, Korrina returns Hawlucha to its pokeball.
"You did well, Hawlucha." said Korrina. She puts Hawlucha's pokeball away and skates over to Lincoln, who was patting Braixen's back. "That was an amazing battle, Lincoln."
"It sure was." replied Lincoln. Korrina reaches into her pocket and pulls out a badge that looked like an orange fist and a gray fist against each other.
"For your victory here, I present you with the Rumble Badge." said Korrina. She gives Lincoln the Rumble Badge, along with pokedollars.
"Yeah! I just won the Rumble Badge!" said Lincoln, holding up the Rumble Badge; Lincoln's friends cheered in response.
"And here's something extra." said Korrina before she leans towards Lincoln and kisses him on the cheek, making him blush, and Shauna growl; Gurkinn walks over to Lincoln.
"When you and your friends are ready, return to the Tower of Mastery and I will teach you all how to Mega Evolve your Pokemon." said Gurkinn.
"Okay, Gurkinn." said Lincoln.
Lincoln has defeated Korrina and won his third gym badge. Now he and his friends will soon learn how to Mega Evolve their Pokemon. Can they do it? Wait and find out.
