"Excuse me, what are you doing?" Jahy looked up from washing her face in the river and saw a curious woman watching her.

"None of your business, peon!" She shouted as her face turned red. Jahy scrambled back under the bridge in an attempt to avoid the pitying eyes of the woman.

"What's a little girl like you hiding under a bridge for?" She asked, ignoring Jahy's embarrassment. "Where are your parents?"

"As if a human like you could understand the importance of trying to find the Demon King!"

"The Demon King? You mean the Demon King Tavern? Is that where you're supposed to meet your parents?" The woman leaned over the bridge, trying to sneak a peek at the reclusive girl.

Has Satan already established a headquarters here? Grabbing her necklace, Jahy grew to her full form. That's to be expected since his magnificence was able to unite the demon world. Creating a base of operations in such a short time would be no problem. She stepped out from under the bridge, shocking the commoner. "I will allow you to take me there."

Wasn't she a lot smaller before? And what is she wearing? Jahy scowled at the woman who gaped at her.

"Well?! Get going!"

"Lord! There you are!" Jahy yelled as she burst into the restaurant. The few customers that sat scattered throughout the large seating room glared at her, then ogled at her, noting her scantily clad, attractive body. "You can go now…." Jahy turned to dismiss the woman who was already vanishing out of sight.

The owner walked up to her, smiling widely as she bowed to her new customer. "Welcome to the Demon King Tavern. How may I help you?"

"I am Jahy, second in all the demon realm, and I demand to reclaim my place as the second to the owner of this establishment!"

"Oh my," the owner gasped, "I'm afraid you'd have to start out as a part-timer. I can't afford a full-time employee right now…"

Has Satan already replaced me? So soon! It's hardly been a week since he retreated. Jahy was aghast at the thought. Impossible; he must've devised a plan. I'm sure he didn't want me or anyone interfering with his carefully organized plot to reclaim the demon world and Ente Isla. "Very well, woman, I will accept this 'part-time' for now, but I demand that Satan be alerted of my presence."

"Great, come with me to the back, and I'll give you your uniform."

"I think not!" Jahy said haughtily, "This is my favorite outfit, and I refuse to change it."

"Oh dear," she said with a worried voice, "Then I'm afraid you can't work here. If you want to be a part of the Demon King Tavern, you'll need to wear the uniform."

Jahy scowled at the woman but finally relented under the woman's smile. "Fine, I'll wear the uniform; now lead me to my chambers."

"Chambers?" the owner said as she led her to a back room. "What do you mean?"

"These rags are hideous and are poor in quality. You can't expect me to wear such things." Jahy said with scorn as she inspected the clothes the owner handed her.

"I'm afraid that's the only set I have in your size," the owner said with a smile. "You mentioned chambers? Do you need a place to stay?"

Jahy froze. I can't tell her I've been sleeping in boxes. What if she tells Satan? He'll abandon me if he learns how useless I've become without my magic. "Of course not," she shouted suddenly. "I have a place to sleep." As long as that dog doesn't show up again. She thought, remembering the large stray dog that chased her away from her prized box she hid under a bridge.

"Because I can find you a nice place that will be pretty—"

"Well," Jahy interrupted, "I'm not one to deprive the responsibility of those who should care for me. I'll accept your offer."

The owner looked very pleased with these developments. "Great! I'll introduce you right away!" She winked at the smug Jahy. "If you need anything else, feel free to ask."

"What can I possibly want from someone like you?" Jahy said as she turned away. "Just lead me to my new residence." Of course the great Satan would look out for me. He must've known that I would eventually show up and prepare accordingly. He's so great to provide a palace for me. She looked at the owner and smirked. This human probably has no idea who she's working for. Well, no matter; naturally, I will have already risen to the upper echelons again by this time next week. Leaving this human to her tiny part in the grand plan. No need to reveal my full brilliance; I'm sure my name will be enough. She frowned. Not to mention I don't have that much magic to spend on lowly humans.

"Ryou, this is Jahy; she's an important family guest." She gestured at Ryou, "Jahy, this is my sister, who is also your new landlord. She'll take you to your new home. I'll expect you tomorrow morning for your training." She waved and returned to the restaurant.

Jahy dismissively glanced at the newly appointed landlord, noting the equally irritated scowl on her face. This human seems much less accommodating than the last one. She flipped her braid over her shoulder. "Well," she waved her hand. "Take me to my castle."
