Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds and Pokemon
I'll Never Leave Your Side
By Lucky_Ladybug
Notes: The characters aren't mine and the story is! This is the next story in the Eevee saga of Radley, Kalin, and company raising Eevees . . . and Eevee family members, featuring Bella the Glaceon, a character I created some time back and now am excited to use in a story. As always, Radley is a good person, the way I honestly see him.
Chapter One
It was the day of the New Domino City Pokemon Contest, their very first ever, and everyone in Satisfaction Town was in a frenzy. Radley's and Scotch's households were all definitely planning to attend, and all the Eevees were excited and bouncing off the walls about it.
"We'll get to see Ramon and all the other Pokemon and make more friends!" Evie gushed to Evan, Lily, and Ruby.
Lily looked more intimidated than excited, but she did like the thought of seeing Ramon compete, at least. "We need to go early enough to get good seats," she said. "Pokemon Contests are really big things."
Her sister Ruby nodded. "People will be coming from all over, both people who want to see what the Contests are like and people who know and are excited to have one here!"
Evan looked to Evie. "Will you be trying to talk English while we're there?" They had all recently been studying how to do so, but only Evie had actually said a sentence so far.
"Maybe!" Evie said. "Radley said we need to be careful who hears me, at least for a while, because they might be mean and want to take me away." She shuddered at that. Being taken from Radley was her worst fear, especially when it had already happened courtesy of Team Rocket.
Evan sighed. "That's probably true. People would really get excited about it and some of them might just think that you'd turn a big profit for them if they sold you."
Evie's ears drooped. "I hope most people aren't like that if they're not in Team Rocket."
"There's mean people not in Team Rocket too," Ruby said. "But a lot of people are nice."
"I'm glad! I love people!" Evie exclaimed.
Radley chuckled as he watched the cute Eevee conversation. He and Kalin were hurrying to get ready, but the Eevees were already ready and waiting to go. The girls all sported pretty ribbons and bows, while Evan had a bowtie.
"I wonder how Scotch will dress up his Eevees," Kalin remarked.
"Oh, you can bet they'll be cute," Radley chuckled.
And they were. When it was time to pick them up, Scotch hurried out with all his Eevees adorned in bows and ribbons and bowties.
"Hey!" he grinned as he hopped in the van. "We're all ready to go!"
"Eevee!" Evie cheered.
"Everybody looks great, Scotch," Radley smiled.
"That must've taken a long time," Kalin grunted.
"Not too long! Most of the girls wanted to get pretty!" Scotch said. "I only had a little trouble with Peter, but I finally convinced him a bowtie was stylish!"
"It sure is," Radley said. He didn't like them for himself, but for cute little Eevees it looked just fine.
They made good time on the trip and soon arrived at the event center where the Pokemon Contest would be held. As they all got out, a strange commotion near the steps caught Radley's attention.
"Eee-veon!"
"No!" came an angry Trainer's voice. "You're not an Eevee any longer; you're a Glaceon! Why don't you get that?! You're supposed to say 'Glaceon'!"
"Gla-VEE!"
"NO!"
Frowning, Radley walked over to the unfolding scene. "Hey, what's the trouble here?" he asked. Evie warbled in concern.
An exasperated young man around Scotch's age was scowling at a beautiful but confused Glaceon who was standing in front of him and waving her tail. "Oh, I traded this Glaceon from my friend right after she evolved," he groused, "but when she popped out of the Pokeball, I couldn't get her to understand she's not an Eevee anymore! She thinks she's a really long-legged Eevee who makes snow!"
"Well, she kind of is, isn't she?" Radley remarked. He didn't like this Trainer's behavior at all.
"You know what I mean," the Trainer snapped. "She's evolved! Okay, sure she's still Eevee family, but she's a Glaceon! She won't even say her new name! We'll be laughed off the stage!"
Radley petted the Glaceon, who beamed at him with a happy, "Ee-on!"
"Honestly, if she knows her act and pulls it off right, probably nobody will even notice what she's calling herself," Radley said. "And is it really so bad as all that? So what if she still wants to be Eevee?"
"Vee!" Evie said with a firm nod.
"Eevees are great!" Scotch agreed as he caught up.
The Trainer took one look at their Pokemon and threw up his hands in the air. "Of course you guys would think so!" he cried. "Not one evolved Eevee among them!"
"They'll evolve if they want to," Radley said. "Did your Glaceon even want to evolve?"
"How should I know?" the Trainer snapped. "Don't all Pokemon want to evolve and be the best versions of themselves?!"
"Each Pokemon is the best version of themselves if they're what they want to be," Kalin retorted as he approached with Evan. "If your Glaceon was forced to evolve before she was ready, it's no wonder she can't accept it."
The Trainer looked from him to the others, eyes flashing. "Shut up! All of you, just butt out!" He stormed towards the steps. "Come on, Glaceon."
The Glaceon sighed and trotted after him. "Eevee-on!"
"Aurgh!" The Trainer practically threw open the door and stomped inside, barely waiting for his Pokemon to follow.
Radley stared after them, frowning deeply. "I know it's not really our business, but people like that really make me mad," he said. "I never got into the evolution craze, but I'd fully support any Pokemon who wanted to. And any who didn't."
"Eevee-vee!" Evie exclaimed.
Kalin grunted in equal annoyance. "I feel sorry for that Glaceon. She deserves better."
Radley sighed. "Well, maybe if she does well in the contest, the guy'll change his mind about her," he said with little hope.
"If he doesn't, maybe you should see if we could buy her, Radley!" Scotch said.
Radley laughed a bit. "We can't take in every Eevee family member who's being mistreated. . . . I can't deny I'd love to have her, though. I'd give her a beautiful name that would fit both Eevee and Glaceon, whatever she wants to think of herself. Maybe something like . . . Bella. Yeah." He smiled. "Bella would be perfect."
Evie cheered. She would love another friend!
Radley chuckled as he petted her ruff. "We'll keep an eye on them on the contest," he promised.
"Good," Kalin said.
As they were about to head inside, a tall man appeared with an Eevee riding on his shoulder. "I'm impressed by how you handled that situation," he remarked. "I was about to go over myself until you took the initiative."
Radley looked up in surprise. "Oh hey, Sephiroth," he greeted the president of Strife-Fair Innovations, formerly Jenova Corp. "Are you entering Lucy in the contest?"
A smirk. "I'm not, but Zack is," Sephiroth replied. "They both thought it would be fun. I couldn't refuse them."
"Vee!" Evie exclaimed and high-fived (high-pawed?) Lucy, who beamed.
"Well, we wish you guys luck," Radley smiled.
"Thank you. They've been practicing hard," Sephiroth said.
As they all entered the building, Kelly hurried over to them with Ramon trotting alongside her. "Hello!" she waved.
"Hey," Radley smiled. "We all made it."
The babies and Penny exclaimed in delight from inside the carrier Scotch was holding. As he set it down, Ramon hurried over to touch noses with his wife and their children through the cage.
"I'd like to open it, but I don't know if I should," Scotch said apologetically. "You know how these little guys are."
"I think it's better to keep them in there for now," Kelly chuckled. "We can all visit at home after the contest and you can let them out then."
"Right!" Scotch grinned.
"Oh, do you know Sephiroth?" Radley interjected, gesturing to him. "He's a friend of ours."
"We've had some contact because of our companies," Kelly smiled. "Hello again."
"Hello," Sephiroth nodded.
Lucy chirped.
"We just saw a big creep outside!" Scotch exclaimed. "His Glaceon still wanted to be Eevee and he kept getting mad at her for trying to say 'Eevee'!"
Kelly sighed. "There's a lot of people like that in the Contest and Gym circuits, unfortunately," she said. "They're bent on winning and looking the best and they don't care about their Pokemon's feelings."
"That's messed-up!" Scotch scowled.
"We were kinda thinking of seeing if he'd sell her to us if he doesn't feel different about her after the Contest," Radley admitted. "I know we can't do that for every Pokemon we might run into who doesn't have a good owner, but we all feel pretty sad for her."
"She'd be so happy with all of you," Kelly smiled. "I hope that will work out for you."
"Thanks," Radley smiled back.
"Well, we'd better hurry to the backstage area," Kelly said apologetically. "We'll see you later."
"Eevee!" Ramon agreed with a nod, pulling back with reluctance from Penny. She smiled at him encouragingly.
"Good luck in the Contest," Radley said as Kelly and Sephiroth both headed off with their Eevees.
"Thank you!" Kelly called back.
"Let's go get good seats!" Scotch encouraged. "It's probably already filling up!"
"Probably," Radley chuckled.
Kalin glanced around. "There's a lot of Eevee-related Pokemon entering," he remarked.
"I see some others now too," Radley said. "Like that Floragato over there, and that Pikachu in a dress. Cute."
"These contests really are a huge deal!" Scotch exclaimed. "So cool!"
"It is," Radley smiled. "I'm glad Pokemon are more mainstream in the City now."
To their relief, they managed to find good seats and settled in for the performances. All the entrants were talented, but they cheered the loudest for Ramon, Lucy, and the Glaceon. The latter looked over at them, seeming awed that they cared. That only broke Radley's heart all the more.
In the end, Ramon took first place, while the Floragato came in second and Lucy in third. The Glaceon didn't rank poorly either, but, as Radley worriedly suspected might be the case, the Trainer was not happy with anything other than Number One.
"I knew we wouldn't win!" he scowled in the corridor. "It's probably because you gave that loud 'Gla-vee' right when everybody heard you! I know some of them were laughing."
The Glaceon's ears drooped. "Gla- . . ."
"Don't say it!" the Trainer snapped.
"Hey." Radley approached, barely controlling his anger now. "She worked hard for you today, and her performance was beautiful! There was nothing wrong with what your Glaceon did."
The Glaceon looked up at him, again in hopeful awe.
"I'd like to offer to buy her from you," Radley said now.
The Trainer snorted. "Are you kidding?!"
"No, I'm not. I can pay any price you want, and with that money you can probably get a Glaceon or any other Pokemon you want from a top breeder," Radley said. He took out his checkbook. "What do you say?"
". . . How do I know you're on the level?" the Trainer frowned.
Radley pointed to his name on the check. "Google me while I'm writing this out," he said calmly.
The Trainer quickly did so, and then stared at the search results. "Hey, you're one of the bigwigs of dyne mining!" he cried. "What do you want my weird Glaceon for?!"
"Because she's beautiful and deserves to be with people who'll let her know it," Radley answered. "So? What do you say?"
The Trainer shifted, staring at the check just waiting to have a monetary amount filled in. ". . . Ten thousand," he said at last. "Give me ten thousand for her."
"Done," Radley replied without hesitation, while Billy gaped at him in shock. Radley filled in the rest of the check and held it out.
The Trainer snatched it, staring at it. "You're really not getting your money's worth," he said.
"Honestly, she's worth much more than that," Radley smiled. "Now let's get that Pokeball re-registered to me."
"R-Right!" The Trainer looked up, half in a daze. He knew he'd got the best end of the deal.
But Radley smiled as he motioned for the Glaceon to come to him. He knew he had the best part. "Come on, Bella," he said soothingly. "That's gonna be your name now, if you like it."
The Glaceon looked up at him, still in awe. "Glacie-vee!" she exclaimed happily, bounding to his side.
"Yay, new friend!" Evie cheered. "This is going to be so wonderful!"
Bella beamed. She thought so too.
