Quirks were a common occurrence in today's society and nearly everyone in the entire world had some type. If you didn't have one you were an outcast. While most saw this as a bad thing, some would rather be labeled as "Quirkless" than deal with their quirks. Amamiya Mikoto had become one of these people as she grew up.

This young girl was terrified of her quirk. Not only did it cause severe harm to herself, but the thought of using her quirk on something other than an inanimate object had become out of the question. The thought that one day she would slip up in her attention and hurt something or someone was constantly in the back of her head.

Her parents, being quirk researchers, helped as much as they could to teach her how to control it. Unfortunately, as she grew older, it felt more like she was their research project than their daughter. Mikoto slowly, but surely drifted from her parents as well.

She was alone, no one could understand how volatile her quirk could be. That is until she was in her first year of middle school when she had been saved by a hero on her walk home.

"Aren't you scared of your quirk hurting people?" She asked since that's all she felt about her's. Since she had become old enough to understand what it could potentially do.

The hero had smiled at her and pat her head kindly and offered the words that she had longed to hear.
"Of course I'm scared, but it's normal to be scared. This is my quirk to use, it doesn't use me. That's why I'm a hero, to show others with dangerous quirks that we can save people."

That was all it took for Mikoto to decide that she wanted to be a hero when she grew up.

Her parents, however, had other ideas. Forcing her to push her quirk's abilities to the next level. They wanted to push her farther each time, she would be an asset to quirk research for the betterment of the world, not some hero!
They just didn't know how far she would go to hit her dream.

—Present Day—

Mikoto sat quietly in her window seat, barely listening to her other classmates' gossip about what high schools they were going to apply to, most trying for UA, and others were elite schools for the select few that didn't want to be heroes. Not many of her classmates talked to her, most were put off by how much older she looked, a side effect of overusing her quirk.

Rapid Cellular Aging.

She looked old enough to be a second year in high school now. Her body had almost filled itself out, giving her the most wished-for figure of people her age. She hated it, no matter what, even when people would come up and compliment her on her looks she hated it.

No one truly understood, they didn't know that she only looked this way because of her overzealous parents. They didn't know that she had been rapidly aging over summer breaks due to their insane quirk limitation tests. There was no one she could tell.

"—to-san! Hello?"

A voice snapped the teen out of her dazed window staring. Mikoto turned her eyes over towards the voice's owner, it was her room's class rep.

"My apologies Sawada-san, I was distracted. What is it that you need?"
Her class rep brushed off the girl's usual aloof tone with a bright smile. Most of the other students in the class were watching them now. It was uncommon for anyone to speak to Mikoto since she had a habit of just brushing people off.

"I asked where you were applying for high school? Sensei said he had yet to receive any applications from you."
So that was what she needed, the status of Mikoto's school applications. Mikoto ran a slim hand through her shoulder-length teal hair and turned her eyes back to the window.

"The head principal is dealing with it right now, but if our sensei is that interested I will be taking part in the UA recommendation exam later this week."

A series of gasps popped up around the teen at her words. No one knew she wanted to be a hero, most of the time she seemed too standoffish. That and no one ever really took the time to get past her personality.

"Amamiya's a recommendation student?"

"I didn't think they gave quirkless students recommendations."

"Is she quirkless? I don't ever remember hearing Amamiya-san talk about one."

"I knew she had top marks in each subject, but how does someone with her personality get a recommendation?"

"I would have thought Iida-Kun from the other class would be a recommendation, not her!"

More whispers similar to them had filled the air around her. This wasn't anything new, no one took the time to get to know her. The rest of Mikoto's classmates continued on with their conversations, leaving the teen alone once more. A small amount of anxiety filled her chest as she picked at her sleeve.

Am I truly that bad of a person?

There was a bitter taste in her mouth as she thought about her classmates' words. Just as they had with her, she hadn't taken time to know them. The only person she could feasibly say she knew their name was her class rep, and that's only because the girl had a habit of introducing herself as such to every student after they voted.

A sigh fell from her lips as she continued to tug at her sleeve. She stopped however when her gold eyes landed on a bright red mark peaking out of under her sleeve. Mikoto softly cursed under her breath, her quirk was acting up more than likely from her mood and her parents' tests the night before.

Thankfully, before anyone could see it the bell rang, signaling the end of the day. As swiftly as she could, Mikoto grabbed her things and rushed out of the room. She needed to find someplace safe from prying eyes.
Fate had other plans for her as a loud voice called to her.

"Amamiya-san!"

She turned her head seeing Tenya Iida waving at her. A groan left Mikoto as her lower lip pushed itself out in an odd pout. She quickly turned from his voice, bringing up her hand to her face in exasperation at her fellow schoolmate. Her pace picked up to avoid making contact with the odd boy. She could still hear him calling to her as she managed to make her way through the halls of their middle school.

She needed to get to an empty room immediately, she could feel her body straining beneath her skin. She managed to make her way to the old science club's room, which had been empty since the club disbanded. It was the perfect place to hide, and not a moment too soon as pain wracked her body just as she managed to close and lock the door behind her.

Pain began to ripple through her in bursting waves. Her skin stretching ever so often to accommodate her bone growth, and turning a blistering red. It felt like her skin was being filleted off with a burning knife. Her hair grew longer by inches, an almost chilling feeling running down her spine in tandem with the rest of it.

As quickly as it came, the pain went away. However, for Mikoto, it felt like hours had gone by. She would never get used to her quirk's drawbacks, especially with it being this painful.

A knock on the club room door startled her from her position on the floor. Fear and anxiety gripped her heart at the thought of someone catching her in such a position. It could ruin her chance to go to U.A.

"Amamiya-san, are you alright?"

Relief washed over her, it was just Iida. With a groan, she lifted herself on her knees and reached over to unlock the door. The teen let himself in, his eyes widening at his schoolmate on the ground. Iida quickly kneeled to check on her with a concerned frown marring his face.
The two had known each other since before her quirk had appeared, and being close friends before the testing started with her parents. He was able to pick up that her rapid growth had something to do with her quirk, but nothing deeper.

"Mikoto... A-Are you alright?"

His voice was softer now, concern laced in his words as he gently touched her shoulder. Though they had grown apart over the years, he did still care deeply for her. He could tell that something wasn't right after her quirk developed and it made him worried.

"I'll be fine, just give me a second Tenya."

She was still breathing heavily, with her head drooping down. She reached her hand up to clutch his tightly with a slight tremor. Her skin was still blistering red, though now it was starting to slowly fade to its natural fairness. She lifted her head to see her old friend, her face nearly gaunt with exhaustion.

Taking a deep breath she pushed herself up to her feet with the help of Iida. She turned herself towards him, giving the teen a small smile.

"What did you need Tenya?"
