A pair of suspicious looking people in big black coats headed into a small bakery in a sleepy little town. "What can I get you?" the owner asked the pair of suspicious characters.

"We would like a Tamato Berry Soup," the blonde woman said.

"With extra spice," the green haired man said.

"One Tamato Berry Soup," the cashier said, acting not as innocent as he appeared, "With extra spice.

Coming right up. Feel free to have a seat."

The two suspicious customers took a seat, and when their soup arrived in a bread bowl, they quickly spooned it. They didn't want to eat it, though, as inside of the soup was a small voice recorder. Making sure the coast was clear, they played it.

"Good afternoon, Cassidy and Biff," their nefarious employer, Dr. Namba, said to the two strange people, now revealed to be our second favorite pair of Rocket members.

"It is Cassidy and BUTCH," the green haired man corrected.

His partner in crime shushed him as Dr. Namba continued, "Your next mission is to apprehend the Transform Pokemon, Ditto. I was informed that this specific Ditto has the property of being unable to change its color. And as Ditto can mate with any Pokemon, I plan on using it to make rare purple Pokemon we can sell on the black market. The Ditto's trainer is heading towards Cerulean City."

"Cerulean City," Butch said.

"Let's hope we don't run into that loser girl again," Cassidy shuttered, remembering their defeat when they tried to capture Misty and Daisy's newest captures.

"Of course," Butch said.

"Get moving," Dr. Namba said, "This is going to be the biggest black market operation in Team Rocket history! You should make it to Cerulean City by morning. That is all." And with those final words, Dr Namba's recorder self-destructed in a cloud of smoke.

"A strange Ditto to make purple Pokemon?" Cassidy said with an eager grin.

"Sounds crazy, but people would want one at first sight!" Butch said. With that, the two headed off on their latest evil mission…

Misty Chronicles OP1:
"I Ain't The Same, I'm the Power"
Lyrics by TheGlassyGuyArt
Vocals by Rachael Lillis (as Misty)

(Lyrics

Accompanying Visual)

I feel the change in the air, I'm feeling so alive
On a blue background, a silhouette of Misty's feet appears, and zooms up her body as the lyrics continue.
My heart is beating faster, higher than a kite
When it reaches her face, it zooms out and reveals her whole body.
I ain't the same, I'm something new, I'm something bold
Misty pulls out a Pokeball and throws it, a flash of light appears
I'm feeling the power, I'm never getting old!
The logo for "The Misty Chronicles" appears as it transitions to the first verse.

I ain't the same, I'm way much more,
Misty is shown running alongside a river, her Goldeen jumps out and wags her tail before falling back into the water.
My spirit's got the power to open every door!
Staryu jumps out of the water and spins before it too falls into the water.
"Giving up" was never in my dictionary,
Psyduck suddenly pops out of his Pokeball. Misty stops running as Psyduck falls into the water.
My power has been reborn, and so I have been!
Misty sighs as Togepi, who was in her arms, just chirps happily and claps
I'm on a mission to live my life right,
Misty is now facing off against another trainer, as Politoed cheers her on by clapping.
Spreading love and light with all of my might,
Misty sends out Corsola as it makes a pose.
Gotta rise up high don't be afraid to fall,
Horsea and Starmie are swimming behind a glass wall, giving happy expressions as if they are happy to see Misty again.
The courage within me is gonna carry all!
Gyarados swims straight up in front of the Pokemon as it cuts to Misty on the battlefield

OH YEAH, I AIN'T THE SAME BABY!
Misty sends out all of her Pokemon as the chorus starts up.

I ain't the same, I'm the power and younger!
Goldeen jumps up and uses a Horn Attack
I am the victory, feeling so much stronger!
Staryu and Starmie use Water Guns to form arcs as Misty makes a pose in between.
Oh yeah, I ain't the same,
Togepi shakes her arms back and forth like a metronome to the beat.
Oh yeah, I ain't the same!
Psyduck shakes his booty in front of the camera.
I ain't the same, I'm the motivation.
Horsea uses a Smokescreen attack to cover the whole screen.
I'm the heartbeat, born for inspiration!
Corsola clears the smoke by using a Spike Cannon attack.
Oh yeah, I ain't the same,
Politoed claps along to the beat.
Oh yeah, I ain't the same!
Gyarados pops out of the pool and unleashes an attack
I know in my heart I can do anything!
Misty and all of her Pokemon are seen together as the song ends.

On a cerulean blue background, the episode's title appears in white text as Misty reads it outloud.

COPY THAT, A NEW EVOLUTION

Being the leader of the Cerulean Gym, Misty encounters many trainers each day, and today will be no different. But it won't be who she thinks it is!

Misty was working around the pool area of the gym. It was a slow day at the gym today, as no challengers have come to her place for a gym battle.

"How tough do you think any challengers will be today," Misty asked her Togetic, "That is, if we get any challengers…"

"Tochi…" Togetic said as she flew by her "mother's" side.

Just then, she heard the doorbell ring. "Misty! I am home!" a familiar voice said.

"Coming!" Misty said as she looked at her "baby", "Looks like she's back from her modeling job," Misty told herself. "If only she would put that much work into the gym… I could use the help."
She headed into the lobby to see Violet there with her Shellder. "Hey there," she said.

"Hey there," Misty said. But she could sense that something was off with her "sister"... her eyes were a bit too red.

"Toge…" Togetic said as she landed and touched Shellder… only for the Pokemon to wobble like its body was jelly… soon the "Shellder" reverted to its true form, a Ditto!

"Violet" looked at her Pokemon and laughed, "Looks like my cover is blown," she said before revealing who she really was…

"Duplica?!" Misty said.

"Yep," Duplica said with a smile, "I heard that the gym is under new management, so I decided to stop by and visit."

"That's cool," Misty said, "Have you caught any new Pokemon since we last saw each other?"

"I actually have!" Duplica said. The two of them headed to the main pool area before Duplica sent out one of her other Ditto. "Say hello to Mura-Dit!"

"Mura-Dit?" Misty said, "Is there something special about this Ditto?"

Duplica smiled, "There is," she answered before instructing Muta-Dit to use Transform and change into Togetic.

Mura-Dit did as their trainer said and became a perfect clone of Togetic… an almost perfect clone of Togetic.

"Tochi…" Togetic said as she tilted her head and looked at the Ditto. Mura-Dit copied the action, the only proof that it wasn't the real Togetic was that it retained its purple coloring.

"As you see, Mura-Dit has trouble changing their color," Duplica explained to Misty, "But even with their inability to change hue, they have been a hit with my audience, and are quite the battlers as well."

"Maybe you can show us in a battle?" Misty suggested.

"That sounds like a great idea!" Duplica said before looking at Mura-Dit, who changed back into their normal form, "What do you say, Mura-Dit?"

"Ditto!" Mura-Dit said.

"Alright then," Duplica said before facing Misty. "We accept your challenge."

Soon, Misty and Duplica were at opposite ends of the battlefield for their little battle. They decided it would be a best of three match up, with each one of Duplica's Ditto facing off against one of Misty's Pokemon.

"Do you want to start me off, Togetic?" Misty asked the Pokemon on her shoulder.

"Toge!" Togetic chirped as she flew off above one of the islands in the middle of the battlefield.

"Ditto," Duplica said, "I choose you!" She sent out her original Ditto, who transformed into a perfect copy of Togetic.

"Alright, Togetic," Misty said, "Let's start this battle off with a Metronome!"

Misty's baby Pokemon shook her little arms back and forth to call upon an attack, and eventually landed on one. Togetic unleashed a weak electrical shock towards the Ditto.

"Ditto," Duplica said, "Use Safeguard!"

The false Togetic's body glowed blue as a force field surrounded itself, preventing the status move from doing anything.

"Togetic!" Misty shouted.

"Ditto," Duplica shouted.

"USE METRONOME!" Both girls ordered at the same time. Both Togetic and her copy waved their little fingers before they landed on a move…

The area around both Pokemon started to glow blue as violent explosions happened. As the dust settled, Togetic was on one of the islands, her eyes replaced by swirls. Ditto was on another island, reverted back to its regular form, and their eyes replaced by swirls as well.

"Togetic!" Misty said as she jumped across the platforms towards her Pokemon, "Are you okay?"

"Tochi…" Togetic said as she looked up at her mother.

"That's good," Misty said, "Come and have a nice rest."

Duplica made sure her Pokemon was okay as well before returning it and sending out Mini-Dit.

As the battle between Misty and Duplica raged on, Cassidy and Butch have arrived at their destination: the Cerulean City gym.

"Here we are," Cassidy said.

"Yep." Butch said, "Our prize should be in there…"

"But how should we approach this?" Cassidy asked.

"Maybe we should make a surprise entry," Butch said as he looked at the roof of the place. Both Butch and his partner smiled devilishly before they decided to get to work climbing the building from the outside for their attack…

"Alright, Gyarados," Misty said, "I choose you!"

Gyarados roared as he landed in the pool and made his entrance to battle Duplica's Pokemon. The platforms floated away so Gyarados could have more room to battle. Mini-Dit jumped off their platform and turned into a miniature copy of Gyarados. Misty's Gyarados looked down at his lilliputian copy.

"Mini-Dit may be tiny, but I saw what they can do," Misty said to her Gyarados, remembering when she saw Mini-Dit battle when they met in Johto. Round 2 started as Duplica gave her first order to the transformed Ditto.

"Mini-Dit," she said, "Use Headbutt!" Mini-Dit swam towards Misty's Gyarados and slammed him.

"Gyarados," Misty said, "Use a Hyper Beam attack!"

Gyarados roared and started to charge a Hyper Beam attack.

"Mini-Dit, use Hyper Beam as well!" Duplica said. Her Ditto nodded before charging up their own Hyper Beam attack. Mini-Dit's Hyper Beam finished charging up first and they fired the attack first, but it was barely able to get to Misty's Gyarados before he fired off Hyper Beam, which was much bigger and overwhelmed the Ditto's Hyper Beam, smacking the small Pokemon right in the face and knocking them out.

"Mini-Dit!" Duplica said, "Are you okay?!"

"Dit…" The Ditto said as Duplica returned them to their Pokeball for a nice, long rest.

"You return as well, Gyarados," Misty said as she returned the Atrocious Pokemon.

"Alright," Duplica said, "It is finally time to show you what Mura-Dit can do in battle!" She sent out the Ditto who couldn't change what color it was.

"Okay then," Misty said as she pulled out her final Pokemon for the battle, "Horsea! Let's go!"

"Horsea!" Horsea cried as she was let out of her Pokeball, landing in the water.

"Mura-Dit, Transform into Horsea!" Duplica ordered. Mura-Dit obeyed as she changed into a purple copy of Horsea and gave out a happy cry.

"Horsea, use Bubble Beam!" Misty cried. Horsea unleashed a barrage of bubbles from her snout towards Mura-Dit.

"Mura-Dit, dodge and use Bubble Beam as well!" Duplica said. The purple Horsea unleashed a barrage of bubbles at Misty's Horsea, the bubbles having a purple tint to them. The bubbles collided and caused a few miniature explosions. But following those miniature explosions, there was a much bigger explosion right above where the attacks collided, making a hole in the ceiling.

"What the?!" Both girls asked as they looked up, as did their Pokemon. Suddenly, a large cage came falling down out of the hole, and caught both Horsea and Mura-Dit! Just then, the two of them heard an evil laugh.

"Alright, prepare for trouble," a female voice said.

"And while you're at it, make it double!" a male voice said as they slid down the chain holding the cage, which was slowly rising above the water.

"To infect the world with devastation!"

"To blight all people in every nation!"

"To denounce the goodness of truth and love!"

"To extend our wrath to the stars above!"

"It's Cassidy!"

"And Butch, too!"

"Team Rocket circles the earth day and night!"

"So surrender now, or you'll surely lose the fight!"

"...Are you sure you're Team Rocket?" Duplica asked, "You don't look like the Team Rocket that I met before…"

"They're different," Misty said, "They are more competent than the Three Stooges… if only slightly."

"HEY!" Cassidy said, "We are the best there is! After all, we have your Ditto, and a bonus Pokemon for the boss!"

"Give me back Mura-Dit!" Duplica shouted.

"And Horsea as well, Cassidy and Pinch!" Misty added.

"IT'S BUTCH!" Butch shouted, "BEE-YOU-TEE-SEE-ATCH!"

Cassidy just stuck her tongue out at the green-haired girl. "Sure, after they help us produce a bunch of purple Horsea!"

"And other purple Pokemon," Butch added, "Ditto is a favorite among breeders, so I am sure that your Ditto with the inability to change color will produce some valuable Pokemon!" Both of the villains laughed as the cage lifted out of the hole and they made their escape.

"MURA DIT!" Duplica shouted as Misty went up to console her.

"Don't worry," Misty said, "We will get our Pokemon back." She then turned to her Togetic. "Togetic, fly to see if you can see any signs of where Cassidy and Bob went.

"IT'S BUTCH!" she heard from outside.

Togetic flew out of the hole that Cassidy and Butch made and saw a black inkblot, with a purple one right next to it. And they seemed to be making a line. "Tochi!" Togetic said as she reported what she saw to her mother, and led Misty and Duplica outside to where the trail of ink started.

"Looks like Horsea is doing it again…" Misty said as she looked at the ink trail.

"Again?" Duplica asked, with Togetic giving an equally confused look.

"Long story," Misty said, "I will tell you until we find them."

Meanwhile, Cassidy and Butch landed their balloon, and were calling Doctor Namba about the progress they have made on their captures.

"An additional capture as well as the target? Very well," Dr. Namba said to the two of them, happy at the progress they have made… "Your new captures will be picked up soon. That is all." And with that, the doctor hung up.

"Hear that?" Cassidy asked the captive Pokemon, "You two are going to be picked up by Team Rocket!"

"And pretty soon, you two will make more purple Horsea to be sold on the black market!" Butch said with a laugh.

"Not so fast!" they heard a voice say. Cassidy and Butch looked up to see Misty and Duplica staring at them with disapproving looks on their faces. "You are not going to be taking our Pokemon away!" Duplica said.

"Yeah!" Misty said. "Togetic, use Metronome!"

Togetic flew off of Misty's shoulder and used Metronome. An orange glow came out of her mouth as she used Hyper Beam to free Horsea and Mura-Dit from their cage. Both Pokemon jumped into their trainers arms, and glared at their captors.

Cassidy growled, "You two are going to pay for that! Houndour, get them!" She sent out her Houndour.

"Hitmontop, help Houndour out!" Butch said as he threw Hitmontop's Pokemon, and the Fighting-type Pokemon came out of his Pokeball, ready to battle.

"Do you think you can take them on, Mura-Dit?" Duplica asked her Ditto.

"Ditto!" Mura-Dit said as she hopped out of Duplica's arms, ready to take on the bad guy's Pokemon.

"Horsea!" Horsea said from Misty's arms, glaring at Houndour and Hitmontop.

"You want to battle them as well?" Misty asked the Dragon Pokemon.

Even though there wasn't much water around, Horsea was determined to make Cassidy and Butch pay. She gave a determined, "Sea!"

"Alright then," Misty said, "Help Mura-Dit out!" She threw Horsea onto the battlefield, ready for a fight to begin.

"Hitmontop," Butch said, "Use Triple Kick on that Ditto!" Hitmontop got on his head and started to spin around, ready to attack the Ditto.

"Mura-Dit," Duplica said, "Transform into Hitmontop and use Triple Kick as well!"

"Ditto!" Mura-Dit said as it changed into a Hitmontop, but still keeping its purple coloring. It started to spin as well as the two Hitmontop collided. The purple Hitmontop overpowered Butch's Pokemon, and ended up hurting Horsea.

"Horsea!" Misty said in concern for her Pokemon. But she saw that Horsea was using her tail to cling onto Hitmontop's tail and got an idea. "Use a close range Bubble Beam attack!"

"Horsea!" Horsea said with determination as she used the attack on the Handstand Pokemon. It ended up knocking him over.

"Houndour," Cassidy said, "Help Hitmontop out!" Houndour yipped and ran towards Hitmontop, using Bite to rip Horsea off their teammate. Houndour proceeded to toss Horsea to the side.

"HORSEA!" Misty shouted. "Are you okay?!"

"Sea…" Horsea said as she struggled to get back up. It was hard without arms or legs, and especially for a water Pokemon on land, but Horsea used all of her strength and started to glow, catching everyone's attention.

"What's going on?!" Cassidy asked as Horsea started to grow… Soon Horsea was gone… and in her place was Seadra!

"Seadra!" Seadra said, with a new burst of energy.

"Horsea…dra!" Misty said, "You evolved!" There was little time to celebrate their accomplishment, as they still had villains to fight.

"Mura-Dit," Duplica said, "Help Seadra out!" The purple Hitmontop changed back into its normal form before changing into a purple Seadra.

"Seadra/Mura-Dit!" both girls commanded at the same time, "Use Bubble Beam!" Both Seadra unleashed Bubble Beam at full force, hitting Cassidy's Houndour and Butch's Hitmontop. The bubbles were so closely packed together that they eventually made a new move: Hydro Pump!

"Is that a new move?" Duplica asked the Cerulean Gym Leader.

"I think it might be," Misty said with a smile as the bad guy's Pokemon got knocked backwards, flying right into their trainers. The attack was landed with such force, they were sent flying.

"The purple Pokemon isn't only rare, but strong…" Cassidy said to her partner.

"Yeah, TOO strong, especially with the twerpette!" Butch said.

"TEAM ROCKET IS BLASTING OFF AGAIN!" Both of them said as they vanished with a "Ding!"

"Congratulations!" Misty said as she picked Seadra up and hugged her.

"I am glad to have you back, Mura-Dit," Duplica said as she hugged her Ditto, which has since reverted back to its normal state. The Ditto trainer then turned to Misty, "I am sorry we couldn't finish our battle, Misty."

"It's okay," Misty said to Duplica, "It was still nice seeing you again, especially since you helped one of my Pokemon evolve."

"Yeah," Duplica said, "And the battle that we did have was fun." She looked up to the sky, "Well, I better get going now. Goodbye."

"Goodbye," Misty said, "And good luck finding more unique Ditto!"

"I will!" Duplica said as she headed off.

Misty soon made her way back to the gym to see if Ash had anything to say about what was going on during his journey. She saw that he emailed her about a little encounter they had with Team Rocket, and how May's newest capture in the form of Bulbasaur made friends with his own Bulbasaur. It sounded like an eventful day, and Misty went to tell Ash about her own day:

Hey there, Ash! I am glad to hear that you had a good time with your Bulbasaur, and that he bonded with May's latest capture really quickly. I would have loved to see them battle against Team Rocket. And for how you managed to track them down? I am sure that Seadra would be laughing right now if I told her. Oh yeah, my Horsea managed to evolve into a Seadra today. It looks just as wonderful as it did as a Horsea, and knowing that it becomes a powerful Kingdra… oh how I cannot wait to see it evolve into such a powerful and beautiful Pokemon! It would have been awesome to have a Kingdra in the Johto region in the same way that Brock had his Zubat go all the way up to Crobat… but of course I had to leave it at the gym because of how little I used it in Kanto and my stupid sisters… Anyways, I am glad to hear about your time with Bulbasaur! Good luck on the way to Fortree!

Misty

PS: Don't be ashamed of fighting with May, Ash. After all, the two of us fought all the time when we were traveling, especially during the early days of our Kanto adventures.

Misty read through her email before hitting "SEND".

And so, during an encounter with an old friend, Misty's team gets just a little bit stronger as she inches ever closer to becoming a Water-type Pokemon Master. But the path to mastery is long, and she and her Pokemon still had room to grow. What will happen to her team next? You just have to stay tuned to find out!
