Chapter 4 Dinner with Dogs

Sometime later...

" Jacob "

" Jacob"

"Hey Mate!"

Jacob's eyes shot open as he saw Bandit standing there looking down at him, he then realized he must have dozed off, He then sat upright on the cushions facing Bandit.

" huh ? what's going on? "Jacob spoke as Bandit gave a light smile.

" Sorry to wake you, but just came to tell you we've made dinner, you had a bit of a good rest there didn't you, that's good, but you should come up and get something to eat. " The blue Heeler told the boy as Jacob seemed a bit confused about this but gave a nod,

" Uh? oh okay sure " the teen boy simply replied rubbing his arm and emitting a light groan.

" you need some help there? I can lead you upstairs to the Dinning room "Bandit asked the Teen, as Jacob raised a brow but shook his head

" I think I can manage, but thanks " Jacob said as Bandit nodded.

" Alright, I'll just lead the way, come on "

Jacob hoisted himself up, his body ached but he was able to still stand and walk on his Own. He fallowed the blue Heeler to the stairwell and using the handrail was able to climb each step

" what kind of Kitchen is upstairs? " Jacob thought to himself as they kept climbing up, Bandit made sure to stay close and spot him until they got too the top, once they had they made their way into a dinning room where Jacob could smell rather delicious smelling foods which instantly he felt his stomach growl.

Bluey and Bingo were already seated at a dinning table, eagerly awaiting for their dinner to be served, Chili was in the Kitchen right next to the dinning room preparing things while Bandit walked over to the table " Have a seat Jacob, we'll get you a plate ready " he spoke.

" hello Jacob ! " Bluey said looking eager to see the Human now awake.

" You can sit by us if you want ! " Bluey exclaimed as Jacob made his way over to the table, and pulled out a seat before sitting down, near Bluey and Bingo, Bingo
as he did, he couldn't exactly tell but he felt like the chair was wider then what he was used too sitting in, but paid no attention to it.

As he waited for his food, he noticed the two little pups both sitting on either side of him, Bluey looking curiously up at him and Bingo, who while curious seemed to be more so judging him with a unsure look.

Jacob had to admit he never felt more out of place In his life, nor did he ever thing he'd be sitting at a table with a bunch of dogs.

Soon everything was set, Bandit and Chili both First served Bluey, Bingo and Jacob before they took their seats with their own plates of steaming food.

Bluey and Bingo wasted no time as they dug into their dishes, while Jacob just stared down at his plate.

" I hope you like it, I'm not too sure what Humans like, but I think it's best you eat something now. Plus you look pretty Hungry to me " Chili spoke looking over at Jacob who just looked down at his food.

" Yeah, Mum is a real good cook ! but you have to eat the Veggies too " Bluey said giving a disgusted look at that, which made Chili roll her eyes playfully.

Jacob grabbed a fork and decided to dig into his Plate, he had to admit too himself he was really hungry and when he took his first bite his eyes widened a bit, which the Heelers noticed, not sure if that was a good sign or not, but then suddenly Jacob began to quickly take more bits off his food, with a savory look on his face.

" I-I take it you like it ? " Chili asked curiously, she though he looked hungry but didn't expect him to bee that starving

" It's really Good, Miss, in fact I never had something this tasty in a while "he said his mouth full a bit which caused him to blush before he swallowed his food.

"Ooh, my well, I'm glad you like it Jacob that means a lot " She said with a nod and warm smile.

" It beats Microwave meals " Jacob murmured to himself as he quickly dug back into his plate which confused both Chili and bandit who looked one another fora moment

" Uuh, what did you mean by that ? " Bandit asked as Jacob then realized what he said and wipe his mouth and looked down

" Uuuh, N-nothing, it's nothing, this is good though, I uh, apricate you willing to let me join you for dinner. " he said with a sheepish grin to which everyone just gave odd look but then Chili nodded.

" well of course Jacob, you're a guest and you certainly needed something to eat I think " Chili spoke warmly with a nod.

Bluey and Bingo both watch as Jacob ate his food curiously, which did make him feel a bit awkward , a common feeling he was starting to notice but he also couldn't deny there was a clear inviting atmosphere the Heelers were providing and for that he did feel more comfortable, and soon he was actually fairly full and satisfied with his dinner, and soon a quick clean up and everything was put it away and Jacob thanked them for the Dinner, That's when the time Came that Bluey and Bingo both dreaded to hear.

" Okay girls, it's time to get ready for Bed for you two, so into the bathroom you go and brushy brushy time " Chili spoke

" Awwww, but were not tired, and we want to talk more with Jacob " Bluey said with a pout as Bingo gave a slight nod herself.

" But We need to talk to Jacob too, we all can't do that at the same time, it'd be really confusing " Bandit suddenly spoke in a silly dramatic manner.

" Off you two go, we'll be in there to help you shortly " Chili sad as both Bluey and Bingo let out a sigh as Bandit then grinned " First one to brush their teeth get's to choose the story tonight " Bandit added which caused the two pups to squeal and giggle before running off leaving Jacob alone with the parents who both turned to face him now.

Jacob just sat there wondering what they wanted to speak with him about next, many things began to race across his mind.

" Okay so how are you handling mate ? " Bandit asked.

Jacob paused for a moment before he placed both his hands on his head " ooh, I'm doing alright I suppose, it's just, I'm just really wondering about everything going on, like where I am and how I got here, but other then that I think I'm fine " The boy said rubbing his head with a sigh.

Bandit gave an understanding nod " Well, that's sort of what we wanted to talk with you about, and Listen Jacob, we both been discussing you're situation, now, there are some things we really think you should hear now, just because were not sure what to make of it ourselves "Bandit explained as Chili also nodded in confirmation.

" So first you mentioned you recall being in the outback with you're parents, now, the outback is quite a ways from here, a days drive at least, so it doesn't quite make it easy to understand how you ended up In our back yard, but it's the last thing you can recall correct ? " Bandit said as Jacob nodded his head.

" However, there is another thing we can't quite seem to understand here " Bandit said rubbing his neck " Now what I'm going to say to you is going to either sound strange or not to you, but, we did some research in hopes to find out more about Humans and maybe on you're parents and well, " Bandit paused for a moment " There is nothing at all " he simply said.

Jacob looked confused for a moment as if he was waiting for more on that before he spoke up himself. " What do you mean ? nothing ? nothing on my parents ? "Jacob said as Bandit and chili gave each other unsure looks before Chili then spoke up.

" Honey, we mean-Th-there is " Chili tried to find the right words to say " There is nothing on Humans at all, we can't find any form of record or a single bit of info on them " she said as Jacob's expression then slowly began to change from that of confusion to utter shock.

" What ? what do you mean!? But I'm a Human ! I'm sitting right here! " Jacob said voice becoming filled with urgency now

" Jacob it's going to be okay, just we needed to tell you that " Chili said as Jacob look at them both with a face full of confusion and concern.

" We did try to look up you're parents, nothing, we tried looking up Humans in general, nothing, but we promise Jacob we are going to help figure this out " Bandit said

" I don't understand how this can happen, where am! " he said in a desperate tone as Chili then placed her paw gently on his shoulder

" It's alright Jacob, just know you're safe right now, we are going to help " she said in a reassuring tone as Jacob did his best to settle down.

" so clearly there is something going on here we can't quite figure out right now " Bandit spoke up " but we promise are going to try and do everything we can to find out just what that is, but we don't know when that exactly that can be. " he said as Jacob listened on

" so what we think the most important thing right now for you, is to figure out what to do with you until this is solved" Bandit spoke.

Jacob just sat their listening to what they were getting at, as Bandit continued.

" Seeing as you don't have anywhere to stay or go, we think it would be best if you just remained here with us until we can find out what happened and how to get you were you need to be " Bandit explained to the Teen Boy, Jacob looked almost taken aback by this

" Wait ? you mean you'd, let me stay here ?" He spoke face full of surprise as Chili then spoke up next.

" well, Of course, I mean given what we can work with regarding you're circumstances, This is more then just a case of you being lost, but what ever it may be you're still in need of a place to stay and you're just a kid, so we'd feel better if you were here under our roof at least. "

Jacob looked a both the Adult Heeler's for a moment, seemingly unsure what too say or make of this situation, here he was, in a house of anthropomorphic talking dogs whom he just met today and are now wanting him to stay with them until he can find his way home? what could he say to something like that? But also it didn't really sink into him until now that he could be stuck here for a while, where ever here was, he had absolutely no idea where to go.

" You mean it? " Jacob said as Both Bandit and Chili nodded

" Yeah mate, we think it'd be for the best " Bandit confirmed

" And we should probably take you too see a Doctor, someone to just give you a check up " Chili said as Jacob pondered on that notion.

" Yes, that'd be a good idea " Bandit added then looked at Jacob.

Jacob then nodded his head understanding then and accepting the Offer, to which Chili and Bandit seemed satisfied with.

" Well that is settled then, you'll be staying here for the time being, with that I think we should focus on you're sleeping arrangements for the night " Chili added."

Jacob was led out of the Dinning room and into what appeared to be another Living room upstairs, just a bit smaller but it had a TV in it.

" It's not much but the best we can do for now " Chili said as I pointed overt o another Couch, this time it had a Pillow and Blanket neatly set out on it ,they then made sure Jacob was comfortable where he would be sleeping, and informed him where they would be sleeping if he needed them or told him where the toilet was.

" I'd suggest you get some much proper rest " Chili spoke " it's been a long day for everyone I think "

Bandit nodded " Yeah, Tomorrow we'll work things out some more, but for now, Have a good rest Jacob "

Jacob nodded his head " Thanks uh, you two, t-thanks for everything you uh done for me " he said rubbing the back of his neck not sound too sure on what to say, but both Bandit and chili nodded understanding

" It is no problem Jacob, just get some rest. " Chili said as they both bid him a goodnight before heading out of the room to check on Bluey and Bingo.

Jacob sat there on the sofa in the dimly lit room, the sun had finally set outside from what he could tell, and yet here he was, still in this bizarre reality he awoke in earlier today. Found and taken in by a family of Heelers.

"Where am I? " He softly spoke to himself, he then sighed but then decided to climb under the sheets provided to him, he slipped off his shoes and socks and comfortably slid into the blankets and let out a very tied yawn, he couldn't remember when he had a proper rest, and the blankets did feel really nice and cool. Wherever he was, he must admit that at this moment, he was in a better position then were he remembered being before he found himself in this place, but he wondered what awaited him when he awoke again? would he still be here? Was it truly a dream? he only had that to wonder as the world of sleep once again took his overlay tired mind...
