Chapter 12 The realizations

After finishing up his breakfast and tidying up his dish, Jacob spent the rest of his Morning thinking about his Dream he had last night, he couldn't shake it out of his mind, he rubbed his head as he wondered through the house for a bit until he came back into the TV Room where he saw Bandit sitting there watching some sort of Sport.

" Go on!...oh come on how is that fair play! "

Jacob arched a brow as he walked in closer standing next to Bandit looking at the screen as Many Dog folk ran around on the screen seeming to be trying to hit a small ball.

Bandit slightly glanced over at him taking notice of the Boy's presence

"Ah, hey mate, how you doin? " Bandit said keeping his focus on the TV mostly.

" Doing alright, uh, what are you watching? " Jacob asked prompting Bandit to look back over at him

" Watching Cricket, But these drongos don't know how to play the game " Bandit said with a bit of annoyance and a roll of his eyes.

Jacob just responded with a confused look on his face which Bandit noticed

" You ever watch Cricket Mate? " Bandit then said to which Jacob shook his head

" I've heard of it but, don't really know anything about it " Jacob admitted with a sheepish look.

" Aw man, you're really missing out then." Bandit chuckled " Come on, come check it out " he said gesturing toward a seat next to him as he turned his attention back to the TV, Jacob did just that as they both began watching the then began to explain the basics of how it was played.

Jacob just sat there listening to him explain it it all, not sure if he was actually getting it quite enough, but he nodded simply anyway.

" You see, there job is to bat and score runs, sort of like Baseball but it takes a lot more skill to get that ball were you want it" Bandit chuckled.

That's how the rest of the morning went for a bit, Jacob watching Cricket as Bandit continued to explain more about it, and get worked up when the plays weren't going the way he thought they should.

It was when Jacob got curious to know a little more about what Bandit's profession was like, remembering when Chili mentioned the sort of work he was into.

" I heard you do things with Archology ? " Jacob asked to which Bandit looked at him then with a brow raised, but then nodded.

" Oh yes, I do actually, been doing it for years " Bandit Replied.

" I see, That sound pretty interesting " Jacob nodded wondering what Dog archology was even like.

" Oh it is, a lot of work, but a lot of fun too " Bandit explained " wanna hear a bit about it? " Bandit said with smirk.

Jacob thought for a moment then saw this as another good opportunity to possibly learn more about...what sort of things are in this Dog world in terms of it's...history and figuring more on just what this place is.

" Sure if you don't mind " Jacob said with a nod.

" Right then, well let me explain just what I do " Bandit said with some clear enthusiasm. as he began to go through what he does, which he told Jacob was mostly doing Data and research on old relics to be discovered and past civilizations.

" But, I have made some discoveries of those old relics of past civilizations " Bandit said in a proud manner " Actually I got some videos of some of my research, would you like to see some? " Bandit asked next...

Soon Bandit and Jacob spend the next couple hours watching some of the documentations on his Archeological research, all which felt too surreal to the Human boy, specially when they got to the last Video of a recent discovery By Bandit. which showcased him at a presentation of sorts, he stood before a crowd of Dog folk and announcing the Discovery of a fossil that once belonged to the first dog to stand upright...

" Yeah, we found that one during a particularly Exciting but rough dig, but it was worth it when we dug up that bone " Bandit explained to the human as the Video showed him holding up said single Bone in a triumphant manner before the Audience and explained how the Bone had to be from over Four Million years ago...

Jacob said their almost looking Dumbfounded, at a loss for words, The evolution of..Dog kind, that was what he was seeing, to think that once all these dogs in this world were...like Dogs he knew back home? he rubbed his head.

"This is a singular find of unprecedented significance for our understanding of the origin of modern dogs; it is a rare relic from our distant past." the recording of Bandit said on the video as he held up the Ancient bone in his hand triumphally once more, however Jacob couldn't help but notice Bandit was on the video kept glancing at the bone like he was trying to resist something and that's when he did something next that suddenly caught Jacob off guard as Bandit suddenly began to viscously gnaw on the bone grunting and growling as he did...

Quickly Bandit paused the Video with a clearly sheepish look on his face. "*Ahum* Right, so uh, there you see, that's a bit of what I do " Bandit said scratching his ear..

" Wow that was, quite um, fascinating " Jacob said sounding both unsure but intrigued by what he saw.

" It's a living, I always loved the idea of getting to discover old things of the past " Bandit grinned " you could say movies from my childhood had a big part in it " Bandit Chuckled...

Later that afternoon

After spending some Time watching more sports with Bandit, Jacob decided to catch some fresh air as he stood on the balcony over looking the Backyard, his mind was currently racing about what he had just seen with Bandit's archeological research and his dream from last night, it only pushed the thought he's been having for some time now, he couldn't deny the fact any longer, he couldn't hold it off. he had to tell the Heelers, tell them what he at least thinks caused him to end up here.

" How do I tell them that...what do I tell them, that I'm from a completely different world? would they even believe that? that I'm some kind of...Alien from another Dimension? " Jacob spoke to himself " Hell, am I even ready to accept that myself yet ?" he thought to himself as he shook his head

" How is that going to even help my case anyway ? what would that do for me? would they even be able to still help me get home if it's true ? "Jacob said pacing around on the deck now as he slumped down on the outdoor sofa

" why me, why did this have to happen " he sighed to himself.

" you know why it happened "

Jacob heard his own voice in his head speak to him as he winced a bit.

" No, that's, that's not what I mean " he told himself too his mind.

" You can't keep that one a secret forever either...you'll have to accept it,...accept what they did."

Jacob then shook his thoughts out of his head as he stood up " Focus Jacob, I just need to focus on getting home, that's all that matters " he spoke aloud before taking a deep breath..." I will tell the Heelers where I come from, that is the important step I need to take" he nodded to himself.

...

" Were Home! " Chili's Voice rang out later that day, she and the girls entered the House, Bluey and Bingo rushed in excited and playfully as they usually were running and greeting there dad with a hug, Bandit then greeted his wife with a smoochy kiss.

" How was work babe? " He asked as Chili chuckled.

" Oh the usual, though I had quite a conversation with this Couple flying out to Rome, I tell you that " Chili playfully chuckled.

" Where's Jacob? " Bluey then spoke up to her dad.

" Oh, I think he's back in the TV room " he replied.

" Good! we gotta get him, Mum got him something! " Bluey exclaimed as she rushed upstairs and into the TV room, where Jacob was sitting watching more of that show he saw the other day with that character Mr Fellmin.

" Jacob! " Bluey said excitingly wagging her tail as he took notice of her giddy state.

" Oh Bluey, you're home, welcome back " Jacob said watching as she beam with excitement.

" Thanks! come down stairs, Mum's got something for you! " Bluey said more eagerly much to the Humans surprise

" Huh? for me, what is it? " Jacob asked as Bluey stopped and thought

" She want's you t see it! come on lets go ! " Bluey said quickly rushing out of the room as Jacob got up to fallow her downstairs.

Jacob approached down into the Living room where he was Greeted by Chili and Bingo who seemed happy to see him.

" Ah, there you are, how was you're day Jacob? " Chili asked cheerfully

" It was pretty good I suppose " Jacob said with a sheepish shrug to which Chili Nodded in response.

" Well that's very good to hear, isn't it " she said with a nod " well, glad you came down, I actually have something I wanted to show you " She then said as Jacob arched a brow.

" Show me? " he glanced over at the others who just simply shrugged.

" Remember yesterday about um, well you mentioned needing something so you're clothes can be washed, well I thought this might help with that for now " Chili said with a slight sheepish look on her face as she then reached into a bag she was holding and pulled out something, it was type of cloth fabric from what Jacob could tell, she handed it over to him which he took from her.

Jacob studied it for a moment and then realized what it was..it was some type of clothing. he unfolded it to reveal it was a set of PJs...red PJs. cotton and soft. he looked stunned at them almost seemingly being not sure what to say..

" Do you like it? they might be a bit big but I got the smallest teen size I could give well, the differing size from you and well most dog folk " Chili said rubbing the back of her neck.

" I uh..I-" Jacob said looking at them, seeming to process it as best he could he felt something inside himself as he held them..something about the gesture just, got to him, he shut his eyes and nodded his head

" They're very nice, thank you " he nodded and showed his gratitude with a smile, to which Chili returned

" That's great to hear, and it's not a problem dear, you can wear those tonight and we can finally get you're clothes in the wash " she added, Jacob nodded as he held the clothes as many thoughts ran through his mind...

...

At Dinner Time

Everyone sat around the dinning table enjoying a nice meal, Bingo talked about what she did in Kindy today while Bluey ate her food.

Jacob enjoyed his meal too listening to the young pup's story about using markers to build mini forts for their dolls, but at they Ate Jacob kept thinking about what he wanted to tell the heelers, when would he find the right time to tell them it? it's not something he'd think to just bring up at a dinner table? he twiddled his fork a bit in his foot, and that didn't go unnoticed by Chili.

" Everything okay Jacob? " She asked prompting him to look up at her.

" Hm? oh yeah everything's all good " He nodded looking back at his plate and taking another bite of his food.

Chili looked at him a bit, seeming to be suspicious but said nothing further on it as she ate her meal, she then looked over at Bandit for a moment before she then spoke up again.

" Well, I suppose it's best we bring this up now then " Chili said which got Jacob's attention as well as Bluey and Bingo's, Chili then look over at Bandit then nodded.

" Hmm? Ooh right, that " Bandit said clearing his throat. " So uh Jacob, " Bandit begun " something came up this morning that me and Chili had forgotten about " He explained as Jacob listened on curious as to what they had to say.

" What is it? is everything Okay? " Jacob said sound a bit unsure.

Bandit nodded " Oh, yes everything is fine, no trouble, it's just, you see mate, this morning I got a reminder from my brother, that we have a family BBQ planned at his place this weekend, it's a simple get together we usually do every other week this time of year. " Bandit explained " we decided we'd wait to bring it up with you until this evening " he added as Jacob listened on.

" We were just wondering, how would you feel about maybe getting to meet some of the rest of the family? " Bandit stated much to Jacob's surprise.

" M-meet the rest of the family? " Jacob said almost stunned.

" Well, my brother and his family anyways, " Bandit said almost sheepishly as Suddenly Bluey and Bingo both spoke up sounding very excited

" Yeah! let Jacob meet them! let him meet Uncle stripe, aunt Trixie! " Bluey explained wagging her tail.

" Yeah and Muffin and Sock! " Bingo added just as excitedly

" settle down girls, " Chili said with a slight amused look " We just wanna know how you'd feel about it " she said turning back to face Jacob who nodded his head, and thought about it...

Later that Night as Jacob got ready for bed, he slipped into his new PJs, that, as Chili said before, where a bit loose on him, but they did feel nice, and he could not get his normal attire cleaned which Chili had placed them in the Laundry room. the heelers were certainly trying to make him feel more comfortable how ever they could, and it made him feel quite...happy.

He sighed as he rested back, his mind drifting to what he had wanted to tell the Heelers, but figured it can wait until tomorrow now, not to mention what they had said to him at Dinner, would it really be a good idea for him to Meet the rest of there family? the Heelers had been kind to him by taking him in and wanting to help him...but would the rest of their family be as accepting? he pondered it but figured he better just let his mind ease for the night..and hope that no more unpleasant dreams would invade his slumber

Meanwhile in the Living room

Bandit and Chili rested on the Sofa, relaxing, enjoying the quiet of the night. however that's when Chili's broke the silence when she spoke to Bandit.

" Do you think it was a good move to ask Jacob that? about the BBQ? " she said as Bandit who was resting on his stomach turned his head to face her.

" What do you mean? I know my brother and Trixie won't mind at all, " he said as Chili set her phone down.

" I know that, I just mean, it's just a lot to probably ask him , He's only been here for five days and we don't even know what we are going to properly do with him " she spoke as Bandit sat up now

" I get what you mean, But, he's a good Kid, I know it, I think he's very curious about this place, about us " Bandit said as Chili looked at him

" He asked about my Archology work today, seeming to be quite interested in finding out about Dog folk, including it's history " He spoke " I showed him some of my research videos "

" Even the one with you chewing on that accent bone " Chili said almost smugly as Bandit awkwardly chuckled

" Right, yeah that one too, but that's beside the point he wanted to see them and I noticed how both perplexed and intrigued he looked by seeing them. "

Chili nodded her head " I see, well it just proves he is not familiar with anything to do with us dogs, Bandit, you don't suppose there is something seriously bigger here then we can think of do you? " she asked as Bandit cocked his head.

" What do you mean exactly ? "

" About how Jacob ended up here, in our backyard, we already know he's not from here, Australia, but what I'm saying is, what if he's not from anywhere, not Canada not this-this... "

Bandit looked at her for a moment seeming to think about what she was trying to say but as he then spoke up for her,

" I know what you are getting at, you're suggesting that Jacob isn't from our world. that he's like from a different universe or something " Bandit said as Chili rubbed her neck.

" well I mean, yes to put it bluntly, but what else can explain it, he's never met or seen a dogfolk before, remember how afraid he was of us when he first saw us, and there being no evidence of Humans we can find? we never heard of his species and he's never heard of ours, it all pieces together "

Bandit sat their thinking about it " Yeah, it does, I can't lie, I was suspcious that something like this was at play, but how can we prove that? he doesn't even seem to realize what's going on here himself "

" Well I am curious about that , about how much he does know, maybe it's best we do bring it up, or suggest it to him " Chili said as they both seemed to agree on the matter but a sense of uncertainty was in the air that night...
