Chapter 15 Hide and uh oh?

Later that night Elsewhere

" Not enough coffee to keep me going anymore. " Sighed the same Rottweiler from before who had previously been in the outback with two other dogs" The late nights are really a drag..."

" But we are so close, I'm starting to see the pattern with these burst.." Replied the Female Springer spaniel from before as well. she sat at a desk, with multiple screens showing various readings of some form of phenomenon, the screen showed a pulsing image, like a Heat radar that seemed to be growing stronger before dying back down...

" That is most fascinating, " The rottweiler spoke rubbing his chin, " What number would this one be?"

" Well this one is just from last month, so, the ninth reading we got but It's showing real readings, and patterns I am only noticing now.." The female dog explained as she type into the panel board that was before her.

" Like, look at how strong the reading in this bit here is, then fast forward a bit it dies down almost completely..then..it's gone " She said with a sigh " Oh I wish we could get closer to one.."

" Not unless you wanna fry all our good equipment " the rottweiler spoke before taking a sip of his coffee. " Also, where is-"

" He's still in the other room, working on that Camara he found " The spaniel spoke

" Oh, should have guessed, what is up with him and that thing, I swear it was just some careless person who left it out there "

" Well, clearly something has got him invested in it, and it..was suspicious that is just happened to be in the exact spot where this one appeared " the spaniel stated. " Maybe you should go ask him if he at least would like another coffee too" she added eye up the Rottweiler's.

" Hmm? ooh, yeah sure, might as well, it looks like it's going to be one of those nights " he sighed before making his way toward another room.

" Come on...this time " The Labrador dog spoke, as he fiddled with the Camara he had picked up in the Outback days ago now, he grunted as he held it close poking wires into it before he then let out a sigh...

" Hey, you doing okay in here?" The rottweiler poked his head into the room now, to which the lab glanced back.

" I'm fine...it's just this, Camara, it's completely out of commission " the lab spoke, as the rottweiler stepped in.

" Hey, it's probably been in the outback for a while, the sun alone probably cooked it "

" Yeah, naturally I'd think that, but there is too much about this find that, can't be ignored. the location of it, this weird name brand I can't find any info on...and now this thing won't activate no matter what I do, and...we know one thing that could cause that effect from our research." The Labrador explained " and if that's the case, then I'm positive this Camara has to be...linked in some way, even if it just happened to be there when it happened.."

The rottweiler nodded head " I see, well, if this is that EMP effect is has on electronic, chances are that Camara is as good as gone."

The lab thought for a moment..." I'll try one more thing.." he spoke as the Rottweiler rolled his eyes.

" Fine, do what you must...oh and I was supposed to ask if you wanted a coffee..."

" Might as well, it's going to be one of those nights " the lab spoke.

" Hey..that's what I said " the weiler said as he excited the room...

The lab sighed..as he continued to poke at the product with more wires..." I know you're a part of this..somehow...But who or, what did you belong too?"

Jacob sighed as he sat back on the couch, he had finished up his lunch, It was the day after the BBQ visit with Stripe and his family, a quiet Sunday it had turned out to be so far and things had went smoother then expected for Jacob, he couldn't help but appricate just how well, stripe and them were at accepting his..out of place appearance among them, clearly they were curious and intrigued by his presence..and even though they did not know the full circumstances of his situation, he still felt good they were willing to accept him, even if he still felt like he was sticking out like a sore thumb when being around them. but he was relieved still. he chuckled thinking back to the moment he even left..

Flashback

" Well, it's time to go now, see you muffin see you Socks!" Bluey waved to her Cousins " Come on Jacob, " Bluey gestured for him to fallow, and just as Jacob was about to get up, suddenly Muffin clamped onto him screaming causing him to look more confused then anything else.

" Nooooooo!" muffin shouted.

" Muffin let go! he needs to come home with us!" Bluey said in a demanding tone.

" Nooo! he's my weird human thing now! " the young pup cried out in defiance.

Jacob shook his heading thinking back to moment.

" Kids are so crazy. " he spoke to himself.

He then sigh, despite that things have been relatively smooth right now , he was starting to wonder, just how much longer was he going to be stuck in this place? trying to fit in was one thing, but actually finding a way to get back home was another.. he knew he needed to focus on the matter at hand, and that was, finding a way to get back home, but the more he thought about it, the more he didn't know what he should do? but surely there had to be an answer waiting for him somewhere?"

He thought more, closing his eyes and...thinking back to that green light he came across, what was it? why...why did it bring him here?

" I'll find out what I can about you...I swear...then after that I'll, I'll find out why ...they did this to me... " Jacob shut his eyes.

" Yaaahhh!" Bingo roared as she randomly came running into the room Jacob was in, the TV room " Hey Jacob! " she then spoke sounding eager. Jacob looked at her curious as to what the pup wanted.

" Hey Bingo? what's up?"

" Bluey and me want to play Hide and seek! you wanna play with us?" She said awaiting his reply.

" Hide and seek? uuh, listen Bingo, it's fun playing with you guys, but, I don't know if right now is good, I am kinda thinking about some stuff and..." Jacob then stopped as he saw Bingo with a disappointed look on her face.

" Oh, that's okay " she said her ears drooping a bit..

Jacob sighed at this slightly looking down for a moment" tell me, you guys um , play the game normally right? no big surprises or anything at the end?" he said thinking back to the previous game he had just played back at stripe's house.

Bingo slightly perked up a bit," You have to either be the one hiding or looking for the hiders.." Bingo explained like he's never heard of the concept of Hide and seek.

" Yeah..that I get, but okay fine, if that's all there is to it, I'll play. " Jacob said relenting.

" Hooray!" Bingo exclaimed eagerly wagging her tail, it'll be so much fun!"

Soon Jacob had been brought back into the playroom were Bluey awaited. " Jacob! you going to play hide and seek? it's more fun with more people " Bluey said enthusiastically.

" No surprises right?" Jacob said suspiciously as Bluey cocked her head and looked at Bingo who just shrugged..

" Well, the only surprise is finding out where someone is hiding " Bluey sat tapping her chin.

" Okay okay, sounds good enough " Jacob said with a nod.

" Good! so it's really easy, just hide and someone comes and looks for you, or you can be the one looking for the ones hiding," Bluey explained.

Jacob chuckled still finding it amusing that they thought they needed to explain the rules of Hide and seek to him.

"so, about we let..you go first?" Bluey spoke.

" Me? err, sure " Jacob replied, as Both the Heelers quickly let out a shrill of excitement

" Alright! we'll go hide, you count to 20!" Bluey said as she and Bingo ran off.

Jacob shut his eyes and began to count, from 1 too 20, and when he was done he spoke the famous words " Ready or not here I come!"

Jacob began to search around the Heeler home for the two young pups. he searched the sun room, the kitchen, the closet, even the Bathroom.

After searching for a bit, he eventually found Bingo, hiding under a table, and found Bluey last hiding in the laundry room.

Both pups exclaimed excitedly when they were found.

" Wow! you were pretty quick to find us! " Bluey said.

Jacob gave a slight smile and, " It was fun, though I think I should get ba-"

" Okay my turn! " Bluey said wagging her tail " now you can go and hide and I'll seek! and no need to worry, I'm very good at staying focused now and won't forget about looking for you," Bluey said proudly to which Jacob just arced a confused brow in response.

Bingo didn't even wait for a another response as she quickly laughed and ran off to find another hiding spot again,

" I'll start counting now " Bluey said closing her eyes and began counting down " One, two, three..."

" Bluey..I need too" tried to say but the young Heeler kept counting, " Oh, okay " Jacob said as he quickly began to look around for a hiding spot, thinking of places he could hid in. the kitchen? the living room? no..

" Nine, ten..." Bluey continued to count.

He then suddenly got an idea, outside, he could try out there, that'll really make her look for him he chuckled a bit to himself. He quickly ran outside the house, looking for a place to hide, he ran along the side of the ground, nearly tripping over a ball in the process, he then stopped just before he got to the front of the house, deciding to stay there.

" she'll never think to look here " He chuckled leaning back against the side of the house.

"Ready or not! here I come!" Bluey shouted as she quickly began to search inside around the house for the others.

Jacob stood out side as he gave a small chuckle to himself, knowing that he probably wouldn't be found by Bluey for at least a bit, he figured..." well, I think it's safe to assume I can use this time to think about my situation some more" He spoke to himself wanting to get back to his original thoughts from before, he shut his eyes and leaned back against the exterior of the home.

He began to think back, deep in thought about everything that had happened to him up until this point sense he arrived here, he sighed as he then..began to think back, think back to before he got here...

" you always been away , You never include me..why! why don't you guys ever think about ...you're only son..." Jacob heard his own voice echoed in his head as he winced. He quickly shook it off, but just as he did his thoughts were interrupted as he heard a distant humming. The boy looked up now, realizing it was coming from the neighboring house next door,just on the other side of the fence.

The voice sounded feminine and seemed to be close to him. Almost in front of him?

Just on the other side of the fence a Female Chow chow was busy spraying some flower bushes along the perimeter of her home, she crouched down to get some ofthe lower ones before she stood back up with a satisfied look on her now saw the dog standing just in front of him on the other side of the fence. He could see she was a Chow Chow, with beige colored fur. and she had what looked like a Brooch pinned to her fur as well.

" There, that just about does it " she spoke in almost posh accent, looking quite glad to be done with her task, her gaze then suddenly drifted upward to were Jacob was, the boy didn't say or do anything as he realized he was about to be spotted now by her, and he saw and felt the moment when her eyes suddenly locked onto him. Her satisfied expression suddenly turning to that of perplexation.

And for a moment it looked as though she didn't quite seem to process him standing there, as she just looked at him for a moment, eyes blinking and a look of utter confusion...

" Uh...Hell-" Jacob was about to say when...

" Aaaaggh!" the female dog let out a terrified sounding shriek, as she stumbled back her eyes not Being taken off the human, they were a look of both terror and confusion at the sight before her, Jacob tensed up a bit unsure how to respond the dog lady slightly backed up now holding the spray bottle out as if to defend herself with it.

Jacob lightly rose his hands a bit as in a gesture to calm her or show he was not dangerous, but that just seemed to make the matters worse as the Dog lady throw up her spray bottle up giving another startled shriek.

Before Jacob could think to do anything else the Dog lady quickly darted toward her house making a terrified shriek in the process before she ran straight inside her home slamming the door behind her..

Jacob stood there, both confused and concerned. " This...Can't be good. " was the only thing that ran through his mind now.
