Chapter 16 Dogs of other kinds?

Jacob nervously made his way back into the Heeler home, his heart was racing, but he stopped when he got into the playroom for a moment just being glad he was now out of view of any others who might have noticed him or witnessed what had just happened, he shut his eyes for a moment, the sound of the terrified dog he had just encountered echoed in his head, and a uneasy feeling settled in his stomach from the encounter.

" Alright, Keep it together, it'll be fine...it was just a misunderstanding" Jacob thought to himself taking a deep breath.

" FOUN YOU!"

Jacob nearly jumped out of his skin from the loud voice that blurted out, breaking him from his thoughts, he quickly looked forward to see Bluey standing their pointing at him.

" Found you! you know I thought you'd find a better hiding place then just the Playroom, you're not even hiding behind anything " Bluey said with a smug little grin.

Jacob sighed before speaking up.

" Bluey! you scared me " he said catching his breath, but relived it was only the young Blue Heeler.

" Well, you should have picked a better hiding spot, that was too easy, I didn't even find Bingo yet! are you a better seeker then hider?" The young blue Pup said oblivious to the human's recent situation.

" Eerrr..Bluey I'm gonna have to call it quits for the game right now " Jacob said walking past her, much to her confusion

" Aww what? but we were having fun?" She said fallowing him now out of the play room, Jacob however tried to not bring up his current situation to her.

" It's...it's nothing, I just, I have a lot to think about right now " he said hurrying away from her much to the pup's confusion..

Later in the TV room.

Jacob paced around with a look of unease on his face, once in a while peeking out the window that just happened to face the exact house of the dog he ran into...this encounter only reminded him of how different he was from all these dogs, he had been mostly lucky so far when meeting new dogfolk, yes many had given him very odd looks and even uncertain expressions of his presence...but in this case it was the first time he had encountered one who completely freaked out by the mere sight of him. now a bunch of thoughts ran through his head.

Would she called the cops? tell them some strange...creature was lurking around her neighbor's house? he winced at that Idea...

He shook the thought off..." maybe she'll just...think she was seeing things..." he said glancing out at the window one more time...

" Hey Jacob! "

Jacob jolted around to See Bluey and Bingo standing there prompting the boy to sigh again.

" You..gotta stop sneaking up on me like that." he said wiping his forehead and taking a seat on the couch.

" Why'd you run off? " Bluey asked now hopping up on the cushion next to him fallowed by Bingo.

" Yeah? it took Bluey a looong time to find me, I was hiding in the laundry basket " Bing said happily.

Jacob glanced at both of them..." It's..nothing, I just needed a break, and had to think about...Home " Jacob said sighing, knowing that it was not a lie to say that.

" Yeah Home..." Jacob said again nodding.

" Ooh..." Bluey said looking down for a moment seeming to understand what he was getting at..the three of them sat their not saying anything for a moment when Bluey spoke back up.

" Jacob? "

The human boy glanced down at her for a moment " Yeah Bluey?"

The young Heeler said nothing for a moment as she seemed to be thinking about something to say, but clearly had something that was on her mind.

" What's up Bluey?" Jacob ask her prompting her to say what she wanted to him.

The young pup then spoke up.

" Do..do you have Dog's where you come from?"

Jacob suddenly felt himself become rather stunned by the question, not quit expecting it..but he at the same time, surprised he had not expected to be asked it sooner...and now that he had been, he wondered about what he should tell the young pups...that most humans have dogs, as pets? how would the Heelers or anyone here take that?

" Yeah? do dogs exist where you live?" Bingo added next.

" Uuuuhhh..." Jacob thought for a moment, looking at them both. he could see their curiosity not peeked.

He nodding his head as he sighed again" Y-yes...there are in fact, dogs where I come from " he scratched his hair as he thought of how to explain it.

" For real life? wow cool!" Bluey exclaimed clearly eager to hear more about it.

" A world of Humans and dogs! " Bingo said looking impressed as well.

" Do they have jobs for just Dogs and some for Humans? or do you all work in the same places " Bluey now asked looking more excited about the news.

" What about schools? do you all go to the same schools?"

Jacob looked at the both before standing up now " Look, um, let me tell you this, while yes there are dogs where I come from..." Jacob paused for a moment trying to find the right way to go about this. " They...they are not like dogfolk from here. "

Bluey and Bingo now exchanged slightly confused looks at him.

" What do you mean?" Bluey asked arching a curious brow.

" yeah how are they different?" Bingo added looking more perplexed.

" Well. you see, dogs where I come from...they don't...errr, they don't " Jacob thought trying to think of the best choice of words. " They don't talk like you guys do here..." he finished, looking at both the pups sitting on the couch starring up at him...and he could see it, the look of confusion plastered on their faces...

" Does that make sense?"

" Dogfolk don't talk in your'e world?" Bluey said cocking her head now.

Jacob shook his head " No, they do not, but, they are not like dogfolk here...the"

" Wait if dog's can't talk, Then how do you understand them? " Bingo said looking more confused.

Jacob sighed again " well, dogs were I come from, they don't act like dogs here, they don't talk, or walk on two legs, they...they act like..well how you guys are. " Jacob said shutting his eyes and nodding. " yeah, they run around on...four legs. and like to bark a lot " Jacob said awkwardly now.

" Wait a minute..." Bluey said " that sounds kina like how Socks acts!" Bluey spoke up

Jacob opened his eyes and gave a awkward chuckle at the recollection of their small Cousin's behavior.

" Oh, right, you could say that is similar to dogs where I live are like. "

Bluey and Bingo both burst out in a fit of giggles, seeming to be amused as the Idea of a world full of Sock's.

"That must be really wild." Bluey chuckled.

Jacob nodded his head, glad that his explanation seemed to be satisfactory for them.

"But socks can talk a little and she's only one, so how do you understand them?" Bingo now asked again..

Jacob thought about it more" Well, some are, very good at, expressing themselves, in fact you can say that some humans and dogs get along well where I live " Jacob nodded."

This seem to cause both the pups to beam with exactment hearing that.

" Hooray! " Both the pups exclaimed now wagging their tails.

Jacob sighed feeling that his explanation went smoothly, for the pups anyway. " Well, hope that satisfied. " Jacob nodded much to the pup's agreement.

" yeah, it's really interesting to hear what you're world is like, specially the dogs there " Bluey nodded.

Suddenly Chili's voice rang out from just outside the room.

" Kids you in there? "

" yeah mum! " Bluey called out down toward her, that's when the adult Heeler entered the room, Jacob could see she had a look on her face, a look that told him something was up.

" Ah, there you are, eerrr, have you kids been playing outside by any chance?" She then asked them. this sent a cold shiver down Jacob's spine as he knew just where this might be going.

" No? we been playing hide and seek inside the house " Bingo replied " I was hiding in the laundry room. "

" Yeah, we didn't go outside yet " Bluey nodded her head." Ooh! but Jacob was just telling us more about his world! did you know they have none talking dogs there! " Bluey exclaimed

Chili looked at them for a moment, blinking a couple times then quickly spoke back up " Ooh,well um okay, hmm " Jacob could see her looking as though she was pondering something, that's when he looked at him.

" Jacob, could I speak with you in the other room for a moment?" Chili then asked the boy.

Jacob nodded his head, he knew in his mind what this was going to be about, he fallowed Chili into the kitchen were he noticed Bandit was waiting as well.

" Ah, there you are mate." Bandit spoke up noticing him.

" What's...this about?" Jacob said even though he knew what it was already.

Bandit and Chili both glanced at each other before Chili spoke up again.

" Um, well, listen we just got a phone call from our neighbor, she called wanting to inform us that..well she thinks she saw...someone, Lurking around outside the home." Chili said clearly looking and sounding as though she was having an awkward time trying to word this.

" Yeah mate, we just wanted too..ask you if you and the kids were playing around out there.." Bandit chimed in.

" But the girls say you weren't so we just wanted to clarify what is going on here." Chili said nodding her head.

Jacob glanced down, as he felt an uncertainty wash over him...the fact that knew what his mere presence has caused now...but he had to tell them what happened.

" Um well, something happened earlier today " Jacob said sounding clearly nervous, something that the heelers quickly picked up on

" Ooh? what happened? " Chili said now looking a mixture of curious and concern.

" Yeah? everything alright mate?" Bandit added.

Jacob hesitated for a moment before he finally decided to speak up on the matter.

" Well it's just, earlier when I was playing Hide and seek with Bluey and Bingo, I had run into another Dogfolk outside. "

Bandit and Chili both listened on now, sharing a glance of interest, clearly intent on wanting to hear what he was going to say.

" I was hiding just along side the house, and..well this dogfolk, a female, she must have been doing some gardening or something. happened to be right there when I was. she noticed me and when she did...she freaked out " Jacob sighed hanging his head.

" freaked out? wait what did they look like?" Chili now asked.

" She was, white furred, had very fluffy fur in fact. I could be wrong, but she might have been a Chow chow " Jacob said rubbing his arm.

Bandit and Chili looked at each other once more before seeming to give a understanding nod.

" Wendy " they both said un unison. to which prompted Jacob to look up at them both. clearly their reaction seemed like they almost expected or understood what this meant. the Heelers could see the confused looked on the boy's voice.

" Jacob, it' okay, you just had a run in with our Neighbor wendy, she's the one who, gave us the call." Bandit explained

Chili nodded as well, but then spoke up next." she's, really a nice dog when you get to know her, but she can be a bit..high strung at times, you probably just startled her, but I assure you she meant no ill intent with this. "

Jacob pondered for a moment, hearing the Heelers words, but still he couldn't get the dog's reaction out of his mind when he saw her. " I'll say." He murmured.

" Listen, we'll get this sorted out with her, let her know there's no reason to be concerned or worried. " Bandit stated.

Jacob looked at them both before nodding his head " Thanks..." was all boy could say at this point. but in his mind he thought about what had happened I guess I need to still consider I'm not going to be understood by everyone here so easily.

...

Later that evening.

Jacob sat on the Couch fresh in his PJs, he was looking forward to a goodnight's rest soon, specially after the day he had. Bluey and Bingo had already gone to bed, having to get ready for school the next morning.

As he got comfy his mind raced with all the thoughts he had acquired. he just wanted to focus on trying to figure out how he was going to find his way back to the Human world, but instead he played Hide and seek, scared a Dog inhabitant and talked about dogs from his world.

He sighed a bit, talk about getting sidetracked. But he had to admit one thing about all this that did feel nice was seeing how much fun Bluey and Bingo did have wanting him to join in on there games..even if thy could be a bit much, and he needed his time to think about how to get home. He figured he'd find out how though..eventually. for if he got here, then there had to be a way to get back.

He shifted on the couch now resting his feet on the cushions and grabbed the remote. turning on the tv, While he hoped Bandit and Chili would sort things out with their neighbour, he was now going wind down drifting to sleep watching more eps of the show he's grown quite fond of, sense he's been here, which he learned had all it's eps s on this worlds version of a streaming app back home...this one was called, Rufflix

Jacob shook his head as he selected the first Episode of season 1.

" Hey mates! it's you're host and Crazy Koolie! Mr Fellmin !"
