"Parcae Analyze!" Her Portable Terminal beeped as it floated, a quick flash as it analyzed the Pokemon as the aggressive Pokemon heaved an overly large anchor and the Ship's wheel with its seaweed somehow.
"Dhelmise-
Ghost/Grass Pokemon
Known Moves:
Vine Whip? Power Whip?
Don't bother to Capture or Observe Pokemon Longer! ESCAPE!
The Sea Creeper Pokémon: It wraps its prey in green seaweed and sucks away their vitality. Swinging its massive anchor, it can KO a Wailord in a single blow. What appears to be green seaweed is actually its body.
Ability: Steelworker- Steel Type Moves are enhanced.
WARNING! Victor Hakuno! Hostile Pokemon appears far stronger than current Friendly Pokemon, evacuation is highly recommended!"
Hakuno's eyes flicked toward Nomia, the little Tinkatink looked at the Sea Creeper Pokemon with a look of assurance.
"Retreat!" Nomia's eyes flickered towards her a fucking look of defiance on her face!? This was not the time to put caution to the wind young lady! Nomia picked up some speed before slipping to its side with an Astonish covering the Smoochum as the Ice-Type made some distance.
"SwAlll!" A large yawning purple mouth came from underneath a nearby trash pile and fired bullets of sickly purple gunk at the Dhelmise that blocked it with its silver-covered anchor.
If Nomia wasn't going to listen… then Hakuno had no choice but to recall her. Although, if she did that, she felt like something between the two would be broken, and their connection would never be the same. However, if they survive this, there will definitely be a talking to…
"Nomia, fall back with Fairy Wind, look for an opening."
"Crystal Pepper it with Powder Snow!"
"It said Ghost right, so Mankey get back and Work Up!"
Hakuno grimaced as everyone joined this battle. She had never had to keep track of more than a one-on-one battle before. How could they survive this? Ah, "Pacae, put an alert to Rangers and Police of a Dangerous Pokemon in town." A resounding Beep came from the device. At the least, they just now needed to survive for a bit first.
The Wheel of the Dhelmise glared at the Swalot as the Fairy Wind and Powder Snow practically rolled off the Pokemon. The two moves weren't strong enough to do more than irritate the Seaweed Pokemon, and the Swalot had to use its poison to block the hits from hurting their child-like Pokemon.
Nomia kept circling the Anchor Pokemon disappearing in puffs of either Pink or Grey smoke, they were lucky the Pokemon was more focused on assaulting the Swalot than them. Maybe after a larger meal or just going for the actual threat? She couldn't tell.
"I got a plan, Crystal! Confusion on the ship!" What!? Hakuno's eyes darted towards the younger girl, "Vin, Hakuno help push it down!" It… might work. The Bow the Dhelmise was near was perched precariously after the Swalot blocked its last attack. It should work.
"Nomia, run around and use Metal Claw to push." Hopefully, Swalot can keep it distracted long enough. Nomia's eyes flicked toward her with confusion but the Dhelmise was paying attention.
A Shadowy Ball was sent towards her, a thin tiny pink shield popped into existence in front of her. The shield cracked and shattered the attack continued into Nomia sending her flying back into a nearby trash pile.
Hakuno couldn't panic, she had to ensure her little one was alright. She had to stay calm, at least that would be the correct course of action instead of ducking underneath another chunk of metal being sent their way as she managed to find herself in front of the little Tinkatink.
Nomia was in… bad shape, the little Metalsmith's hammer had taken a large part of the blow and was nowhere to be seen, her chest piece was slightly caved in and she was a good foot into what might have been at one point someone's failed attempt at cooking.
"Tinka..." Hakuno had half the mind to return her, but… "TINK." The little Fairy was angry. A flickering flame danced in the little one's eyes reminiscent of Nero's burning passion. So this is Nomia's passion…. It looks like stopping after a single badge isn't possible. Hakuno grasped Nomia's hand and pulled.
She ignored the sickly plop the Pokemon made as she came out, brushing a few noodles from her arm and spraying her with a small Potion to hopefully ease the pain,
"Are you sure you want to continue?"
"Tink…" The nod was a lot smaller and more unsteady, but at least she wasn't going to do something as stupid now as going face-to-face with it. Hakuno had a feeling it was a blow to her ego that she needed help but they couldn't help it. But the pure rage behind the Smith's eyes was evident, "TINKATINK!"
"Good, now follow Mankey's lead. You're in the support role this time." She grunted but ran as fast as her little legs could carry her.
It fucking hurt. A stupid fucking ball of goopy darkness flung by an anchor of a Pokemon not even speaking a single word hurt dozens of times more than being nearly melted alive. She had to give it to Crystal though, she came in when it mattered. She might have fainted if not died if that Light Screen didn't reduce it.
"I'M GOING TO GRIND YOU DOWN AND MAKE YOU INTO MY FUCKING TEA YOU USELESS PLANT!" Damn, the devil was out again. She can't rely on her for any fun conversation in this fight.
"Calm, stay calm. Think. Great. Become. Strong." And the Mankey has gone insane, well. She will listen to her Boss and push. She really wished she had longer legs, but alas her height was her sole weak point, not counting her lack of weapons or how her chest piece made running a bit taxing.
"Protect. Children. YEEESsssssSS." Ah, different insanity it was doing most of the heavy hitting without their Partner here he was doing the best he could to keep its attention away from us. There were no fun conversations in this fight, no one to tell her that she was too weak.
Metal Type Energy coated her hands as she reached the ship, she grunted as she pushed.
"Focus Punch!" The Swinub-Faced Pokemon beside her hooted and slammed its fist into the remnants and she felt the metal creak and groan from their effort.
Heave! Crash on this fucker! The low-grade steel groaned and creaked as it was dislodged from its supposed final resting place she thought she might have heard a crack, and it lurched.
Seeing three tiny Pokemon move a chunk of ship easily ten times larger than them was something strange to see, Vincenet had yelled at Swalot to keep it pinned and it had taken a few nasty wacks from the multitude of seaweed and the anchor the Pokemon was carrying around.
The poor Pokemon would definitely need to be seen by Nurse Joy after this, all of them will. Hopefully, the Rangers get here soon… She doesn't have a clue how long a Seaweed Pokemon can be trapped underneath a bow.
"Sweet! It worked!" Sarah cheered while her Smoochum slumped at her feet panting heavily. The Swalot came beside them as Sarah and Vincent both rubbed the top of its head/stomach. Vincents Mankey was hooting on a piece of the boat the Dhelmise was trapped under while Nomia dragged herself to Hakuno.
"Nomia…" Hakuno picked up the little Tinkatink, "I think we need to have a s-" Rumbling. Hakuno's eyes darted towards the noise as the bow heaved upwards and then was sent flying towards them.
Swalot rose to its full height and belched the sound waves making the ship-part slow down but it had to use its entire body to protect them. The Poison-Bag pokemon was exhausted and held the ship part as the Dhelmise fired more Shadow Balls at them each making a dong sound as it impacted the metal.
"Guys…" Sarah was terrified, the ice cream shop girl was practically quaking in her shoes. "We should run." They should have in the beginning, but the Dhelmise was truly angry right now, and Hakuno had no belief it wouldn't be able to chase them down.
Peering at it from around the corner, and nearly losing her head to a small ball of darkness, the Sea Creeper Pokemon was barely standing, the anchor hung loosely in its grip, the steering wheel eye was cracked and most of the Seaweed seemed to have been melted and or crushed off.
"Police ETA two minutes," Parcae's calm digital voice said, "Children, keep Victor Kishinami alive at any cost." Well, that's definitely embarrassing, probably, at least going by the looks given to her by the two kids and the slight warmness she felt creeping on her cheeks.
She wonders if Parcae would mind being submerged in water for a cleaning after this. Surely the Portable Terminal was waterproof, it didn't even use electricity some sort of Solar Power and Type Energy. Another part of her mind wondered where Beryl the owner of this place was, but she had to hope he was also getting help.
"I… uh might have a plan." Vincent was hesitant, "Probably."
"Is it like your plan a few years ago to get us into that movie?" She tried her best to laugh and stay calm but it was completely forced as the Seaweed Pokemon swung its anchor with enough force to make the bow protecting them crack and caused her to flinch.
"The trenchcoat was an amazing plan…" Vincent shook his head, "But no, Mankey keep using Bulk-Up and focus. Hakuno, your Tinkatink can make items right?" Seeing Hakuno's nod he continued, "Can she make a heavy one? Really heavy? Mankey's Fling depends on weight and if you get one really heavy it might be able to knock it out."
Nomia grunted, signaling she would do it, "Tinkatink." It should be possible, Nomia hasn't really shown she could make something other than hammers light enough for her to toss around.
"Swalllllot." Swalot grunted as dark grey energy began to slowly cover the bow of the ship. Hakuno had a bad feeling about it, but she was currently doing her best to grab whatever loose scraps were nearby, or more accurately falling off the bow, as Nomia began to weave the Hard Ball into existence.
"Crystal help Swallot with Confusion!" Sarah held up the little Smoochum as the tiny Pokemon countered the Ghost-Type energy with her Psychic energy, the thin wave of pink fought the ghostly grey in a battle it would for sure lose.
"Ok Mankey, stay calm focus, and breathe in and out, Bulk Up remember?" The hooting and snarls from the Mankey were calming down, she could hear it breathing deeply and ignoring the plight of Swalot and them.
Hakuno's eyes darted toward a piece of scrap being tossed to the side "Nomia, for this one moment please don't care about the quality…" She grumbled before grabbing the piece again as more and more steel chunks got welded together.
Hakuno's eyes darted toward Swalot she hated this aspect of Pokemon battling, she missed her Mystic Codes, if only there was more for her to do than to spray some potions or toss a few berries. She had only brought the singular Potion with her as she wasn't expecting any actual fights and it was already half empty from healing Nomia but she sprayed the remained on the Swalot's larger wounds.
Their shield cracked and splintered as the whole body of the Dhelmise covered in silver rammed into it, Swalot grunted and a green shield covered them before the silver anchor slammed through their makeshift shield, the Dhelmise reeled back in surprise as the shield held firm against its advance.
"Tink!" Nomia handed the dense hammerlike contraption to the Mankey, his eyes were wide as white smoke came off his body, and a familiar charcoal gray covered its hands and hammer as he Flung the hammer into the reeling Dhelmise.
The hammer forced the Pokemon back, and the anchor and wheel of the Pokemon splintered and broke as it crashed into the ground. A few heartbeats later the Pokemon was still sitting on the ground before she heard a soft plink and a small red and white ball plopped onto it.
The Pokemon faded into red energy as it flew into the Pokeball.
"What do you think you're doing!" Sarah was now yelling at Vincent, she had him in a chokehold. The ball wiggled once.
"I mean! What else are we going to do!?" Vincent did something that made Sarah recoil and shiver. She reached into her pocket and wiped the inside of her arm with a handkerchief. The ball wiggled twice.
"Gross! Leave it for the Rangers they are supposed to rehome them! It's too wild for you to raise!" Hakuno picked up Nomia, the little Pink Metalsmith was tired. She shoved Parcae back into her pocket, as the ball wiggled thrice and then gave off a melodious ding.
"It worked?" She didn't think it would, but the stasis of a Pokeball would ensure they could store The beast safely, as long as Vincent locked it.
"I'll be taking that." The old man from the gate came from behind a nearby scrap pile and scooped up the Pokeball, "You kids did well, I thought I might have needed to help ya even more." A small Fūrin floated and chimed harmoniously near him, "Chimney here just had to toss up a few screens and ole Gully just had to make sure ya'll weren't smeared. Droppin' a chunk of steel on it was smart, honestly thought it would put it out of commission myself."
Hakuno frowned, he let them fight that thing? His Swalot might have been the reason they survived… and the Fūrin was the cause of the shields being put up. "Why?"
He gave a shrug, "These kids are finally going to go off, just showing them how the world is in a way I can protect em. Got Jen and Sova's permission for little Sarah, and figured it was either a Corsola or a Gastrodon nothing as dangerous as a Dhelmise. They ain't really from around here."
"Grandpa…" Hakuno saw Vincent's expression change from confusion to outright annoyance, "We've already been to the paths nearby! Even ventured a bit into the routes we don't need you babying us!"
"Vin," Sarah was holding Smoochum, the little thing didn't seem hurt but just exhausted, "I mean, the Paths are pretty well… safe aren't they? That's their whole point." That was true, at least from her experience, she didn't really get bothered by wild Pokemon after she left Ilex.
"Ugh… Dammit." The boy returned the Mankey still steaming from his Bulk Ups and ran off.
Sarah frowned, "I'll go after him, sorry about all this Hakuno. I'll make it up to you." She gave her a small bow before running after her childhood friend.
Beryl coughed, "Well, kiddo, sorry you got roped into all this. Whatever you find is free," He held up the Pokeball, "I'll go give this to them Rangers you called, they might send ya a chunk of change for doin' their job."
Hakuno was just tired now, and seeing Nomia's dented chest piece and her hammerless hands decided to just head back for the day, Nomia did need to be seen by the professionals after all.
"Your Tinkatink will be fine, a bit sore but she should be recovered by tomorrow." Hakuno was relieved to hear that, Nomia might have been wounded from the fight she still didn't fully understand how Pokemon could heal nearly as well as Servants but it was something she was grateful for.
"Thank you, Clara." The receptionist flashed her a shy smile, "If you need any help…"
She waved her hands, "No, no we should be alright, it's just during attacks I get stressed out about the people swarming in and…" Hakuno didn't know why, but she really wanted to tease her. But she had a phone call to make, one that she wasn't putting off per se but just something that has been taking a backburner these last two days.
"Alright, thank you again." Hakuno gave a small nod to her as she went back to her room. "Parcae, can you call the Bonguri residence?" There was a soft beep as the Portable Terminal floated in front of her as the call was being made. It took a few moments but the Terminal flashed with the video of Maizie.
"HAKUNO! GRANDPA HAKUNO'S ON THE PHONE!" The squeal from Maizie was loud, she heard the plopping of claws on wood as she was sure Teddiursa was running to the forge.
"Maizie, it's nice to see you."
"I thought you would've reached Palmpona yesterday," Well she did, and when she explained it to Maizie she gave her a look, "You had us worried ya know. Grandpa wouldn't stop fretting and called Nurse Joy to ask."
"Maizie," A plop as a hand came down on the girl's head, "Enough of that, how did Ilex treat you? And where's your troublemaker?" Hakuno frowned at that.
"Ilex was fine, spoke with Celebi, and Nomia was hurt from a fight we had in town against a Dhelmise." She did enjoy their gobsmacked reaction.
"...Pardon me, did you say you spoke with Celebi?"
"Wait! More importantly," Maizie's head pushed Kurt out of view, "Nomia going to be ok? Can't have my Rival stopping too early! That is… if you want to be Rivals?" Rival? Why did Maizie want to be enemies with her?
"Nomia is going to be fine… why are we Rivals?" She felt like she was missing a cultural reference of sorts.
"It's uhhhh." Maizie glanced up at Kurt came back into view.
"Rivals, are people who push you to become better. They are both your closest friend and greatest opponent, a knife sharpens a knife and all that. Kids these days like to have friendly rivalries, back in my day…"
Maizie interrupted him, "Yeah that, not like enemies but like friends to push each other! I want to get to the conference, and I think you have the chance to as well."
Hakuno wasn't too sure about that, while she was adequate at directing she wasn't too sure how far along she could get in a civilization that prided itself on it.
But Nomia wanted to fight, so she would at least try to get as far as she could, after a good scolding when she was recovered. "Then… I accept."
Author's Note: Another Early chapter? Yes, it is!
I got a new job and have to go to an orientation on Monday a few hours away so I won't be home Sunday! Sadly I wasn't able to finish Lunar Thief's chapter this week but I'll make it up somehow. Anyways Hakuno's Rival is technically Maizie! Though she won't show up in person for a badge or two, other people will fill that niche for them for now.
Hope the fight was a bit realistic, Hakuno was fretting over the poor little child and it gave the two city kids a kind of a wake-up call that they are small fish in a large pond kind of deal. Nomia was beginning to be a bit headstrong, her realizing she was a bit weak should calm her down from feeling 'invincible.'
Anyways! Cya next time!
