Disclaimer: Pokemon is owned by the Nintendo, Hakunon/Fate is owned by the all-powerful Mushroom(Nasu), and all that stuff.
The trio talked for another hour, she did ask if the Jester from Ilex made it and apparently, he was renting a room in a nearby hotel and waiting for his trope to join him. The bell rang and the call ended as Nomia was fully healed.
She wasn't too sure what to do, Nomia fully disobeyed her in combat. It is one thing to not listen to her if it wasn't a serious situation but fighting. That fight could have ended their lives if Swalot or Beryl wasn't there.
Hakuno sighed as Nomia exited her Friend Ball, the little Tinkatink stretched as if she had awoken from a good nap. In a way she did, but she channeled as much of a disappointed look as she could, similar to that of what Kurt gave Maizie when she came home that day covered in mud from head to toe.
"Tink…"
"Nomia, why did you disobey?" She had a feeling of why she did, but she wanted to confirm, although she still didn't fully understand her Pokemon as others could claim, she has been getting general feelings now.
"Tinkatink, tin?"
"We both have our job, my job is to command your job is to listen, I know that you are strong for a trainer without a badge but…we are a small fish in a boundless moonlit sea, even Nero was…" She didn't even want to recall all the wounds they had to flee from, the dangers of whether they could reach it, can they push a bit harder to get a bit more extra data for Aoko to fuse into their being, could Nero's theater's death counter the sword of the planet.
Nero wasn't invincible, not by far, and… Nomia seemed to idolize the Roman Emperor for good reasons, and it pained her to say it. "Nero… wasn't invincible, she died. I can't lose you too." Nomia seemed to digest that with the same bitterness as she did, "I don't want to see you hurt, we need practice, and you need to listen to me or…I can't train you."
That seemed to shock the little gremlin, "Tink!?" Tears welled up in the Metalsmith's eyes.
"Nomia, while we lived this time what if Swalot wasn't there? What if Beryl's Fūrin didn't show up and use a shield for you? What if it decided to focus on you first?" She watched as the little fairy-type took in her words, a frown on her face before a resigning nod.
"Tinkatink." Nomia frowned but seemed to take her words to heart. "Tin." The little gremlin hugged Hakuno's leg.
"Just promise me you'll listen from now on, multi-combat is something I… got to work on multi-battles but trust me, if I feel like letting you run wild I will let you." She had to shore up that weakness of hers, maybe she should look at those videos from the Battle Royal Dome over in Alola, regional restrictions didn't mean much to the Parcae the device was easily able to stream whatever type of videos from any location.
Probably even directly from government cameras as well… But she didn't want to possibly leave traces of the Terminal's existence other than it being a 'Pokedex'. She was lucky that it also now served as her payment method, as well as Trainer ID, Cell Phone, and connection to Celebi. She was relying a lot on her Terminal like always.
The little fae nodded, "Tinkatink."
They desperately needed to work on Trés Fontaine Tempestes a glance through the notes Maizie gave her and cross-checking online more or less confirmed that other than the move Protect, which was available to most Pokemon but a move most don't learn naturally, there wasn't much of a choice of protection moves.
It all came to repeating the past… could she make sure that Nomia didn't end up like her beloved Rose and pass on before she did? She will have to work harder than she did when they only had a week to prepare…
Their schedule was thrown for a bit of a loop, the training they could do was light due to the Nurse's insistence and Hakuno fully agreed with them. So as long as the fairy didn't work too hard she could practice her bread and butter Fairy Wind after taking the last pair of pitons and making another crude hammer.
They were out behind the Pokemon Center, a few other trainers were on their own courts and Hakuno picked the one furthest from the doors, by far the smallest as they weren't planning on fighting. And… being away from people let Nomia make her hammers slightly better, although Hakuno wouldn't tell her that.
She had looked for a few articles of advice and she felt like it was time to put at least one of the ideas to the test.
"Alright, Nomia let's try and pull the Fairy Wind as close to your body take it nice and slow," She watched as the Fairy breathed in and out her arms slowly getting to match her breathing.
The wind was generated, it was a light dusting barely strong enough to be felt it was still being generated more frontal than their intended surrounding storm. Hakuno wasn't sure if going lighter on power or higher on power was what they needed, but at the very least the lighter the energy used the longer practice could go on.
Nomia could push the winds up if she looked down or if she was above ground, like in Hakuno's arms, but changing the direction seemed a lot harder than either of them was expecting.
Hakuno hummed as she felt the comforting energy from the type-infused wind, Maybe it was a mindset thing?
"Nomia, try and clear your mind. Think of something comforting and protecting," She was shooting in the dark but conceptional attacks were a thing in her previous world, perhaps if they could tie Fairy Wind into the concept of Peace or Defense it might work, or at least give them something to work with, "Don't think of fighting, think of safety, maybe your Pokeball?" She read that Pokeballs feel safe for captured Pokemon, although Nomia doesn't spend too much time in hers.
Hakuno hated it when she was alone.
It felt too dangerous to be without a hammer-wielding goblin or another human. Parcae was always there and Celebi was just a call away but it felt different with Nomia. She idly wonders if when she captured another Pokemon it would feel the same.
"Ti…" The little Fae muttered as the winds got denser, Hakuno picked up a small pebble and flicked it towards Nomia, the pebble got pushed a bit upwards but still went through the winds.
"We might be on the right track… Keep practicing on it, I'll look up some 'elite' videos and see if I can find anything." Nomia's sole response was to grunt as she flapped her arms.
Hakuno was in the middle of a video with Champion Selene fighting off three other Pokemon in an arena that looked like a Boxing ring. Apparently, the Alolan Champion loved the Battle Royal Dome and was soundly beating the other three 'Master' Rank participants.
The next video showed a shirtless man wearing a mask approach the ring with a cocky smile, she clicked on it but Parcae paused the stream.
"Child Sarah and Child Vincent are approaching."
"Thank you." The Terminal didn't respond and the screen faded to black as she then began hearing two people approach. Her eyes flicked towards the pair as they made themselves known.
"I…" Vincent looked conflicted, "Sorry about catching the Dhelmise without talking it over, all three of us fought it and I shouldn't have snapped like I did."
"It's fine?" Was that something to be worried about? Although she guessed that she would have preferred to make sure he didn't keep it, she wasn't too sure that he would be able to handle something that attacked them on sight and was able to easily beat all three of their Pokemon.
"It's fine?" Both of them looked at her weirdly now.
"I didn't want to raise it," She wasn't sure what her second Pokemon would be, but she did not want something so violent, maybe something peaceful? She felt a strange shiver at that thought, as if something was watching her, a quick glance around led to nothing out of the ordinary though. "I did agree with your Grandfather that it needed to be given to the Rangers though."
Vincent sighed, "Yeah, Sarah talked it over with me… it made sense."
Sarah rolled her eyes, "You already figured what you did was wrong, if you want something that strong you gotta be strong enough for it. And it went against your whole Fighting-Type specialist thing you wanna do."
The boy turned scarlet, "I um, just thought it would be cool? Like you see all the Gym Leaders and most of the old Champions are specialists…"
"Yeah but Red kicked Lance's butt with his Pikachu," Sarah interrupted him, "And that lady Kris that runs the Crystal's daycare fought Lance to a draw before."
"That was like years ago!" the boy cleared his throat, "Anyways! I'm just sorry Grandpa dragged you into that and I wanted to thank you for the help in the fight… even if you wanted to run away."
Hakuno rolled her eyes, "It's fine, we were outmatched and never worked together before, I viewed the fight as a danger to our life, I am just happy to be alive." She truly was, she needed to give Parcae more accurate commands. Although she has to remember that it was never designed to do the functions it can now do, it needs practice. As weird as it was to think that a device created by the Moon Cell needs practice.
Although this is a world where a doll can be possessed by a ghost and become a Pokemon it's not the strangest thing in this strange world she has found herself in.
"I…" Sarah sighed, "Honestly? If you weren't sticking around I probably would've run to, but I figured if you stayed we would've had a chance."
Vincent looked disappointed at Sarah's remark but he reluctantly nodded, "Yeah… if Grandpa wasn't there…"
"Anyway!" Sarah clapped her hands, "Now that we said our piece, we were wondering where you're going next. Me and Vin are heading to Cianwood in a week, I wanna get my Storm Badge and another two before I go back to school."
That was the same way she was going, it wouldn't be that bad to join up with people even if they were a year or two her junior. Although technically she was only a few months old… Ignoring that, having human company would be nice.
"I leave in two days to Cianwood, I have to go to training camp to…"
"Ah, didn't go to Trainer School?" Hakuno gave a light shrug to the question, "Weird but ok," Vincent rolled his eyes, "Well, how about we all meet up after it? I can kick your butt then and show off Mankey's new moves!" The Youngster's eyes lit up, "Maybe if I get strong enough Grandpa will keep Dhelmise around for training."
"Alright!" Sarah butted in between the two, the Lass's face having a slight dusting of pink strange, "Now that everyone's buddy-buddy, how about we hang out before you leave?"
Hakuno glanced over at Nomia, the Tinkatink was already showing small signs of exhaustion from their previous workout, so having a break wouldn't be too bad… and they could try and practice deflecting ranged moves with Sarah's Smoochum… while Mankey would be a good opponent for Nomia's Metal Claw and Fairy Wind Aura shield practice.
"Alright, sounds fine with me." Hakuno felt herself smile at the pair, even if things started strange with them, they were good kids just… weird, but perhaps it takes a pair of strange extroverts to call out to a girl coming out of the forest to a Pokemon fight and then befriend them.
"Sweet… now let's get some ice cream." Sarah's smile was so radiant that Hakuno didn't notice the slight dejected look from Vincent.
Hakuno looked at the begging Nomia, "You're punishment is no ice cream." The Metalsmith looked at her with eyes of fury at the betrayal but reluctantly returned to her Pokeball.
Hakuno felt her eyes glaze over as she walked into the Ice Cream Parlor, it was sterile white to the point of blinding and had a closed sign that Sarah ignored as she put her key in.
"Hey! Momo! You're here right?" Her voice echoed into the Parlor, and Hakuno felt a wave of coldness come from the back. "I know we're closed for the day but just this once?"
A being that vaguely looked humanoid came from the back, she kind of reminded Hakuno of a Chansey but more human-like. She had long blonde hair and her skin was purple as she had her hands on her hips and gave a puckered look at Sarah.
"Jynx" The Pokemon rolled her eyes and nodded with a swish of her hips, "Jy."
"Thank you your the best." Sarah smiled, "Pick whatever you guys want. Oh and my usual to pleaseeeeee" The Pokemon rolled her eyes but nodded.
Hakuno took a glance at Parcae as she slid the not-phone out of the pocket inside of her sleeve just enough to see the screen.
Jynx-
Ice/Psychic Pokemon
Known Moves:
?
Human Shape Pokémon: It speaks a language similar to that of humans. However, it seems to use dancing to communicate, in certain parts of the world Jynx was once feared and worshiped as the Queen of Ice
Huh, a powerful Psychic that wasn't scary at all. Hakuno felt herself take a step back, but Parcae let out a reassuring warmth. She was amongst people she could kind of see as friends, nothing was after her life. If she could trust Maizie as soon as she met her then she should at least try to befriend people close to her age.
So shoving down her anxiety she entered the shop propper, Vincent sent her a confused look but the boy shrugged, "Aunt Momo, can I have my usual Watmel Ice cream?" Hakuno's eyes went to the menu board but it had dozens of flavors she's never tried.
The Jynx shrugged but nodded, and the Pokemon's eyes flicked towards Hakuno. "Spicy?" Seeing the cruel smile on Jynx's face followed by the fear on Sarah and Vincent's faces made her pause, "Sweet?" The Jynx looked disappointed.
"Jynxxxxxxx." The Pokemon waved her hands underneath the counter and berries from the back flew towards her open hands, the Pokemon caught them as well as a bottle that Hakuno honestly didn't even notice on the counter before hiding her hands once more. In less than a minute Hakuno was handed a bowl full of green-colored coldness, she could make out flecks of red and yellow inside of it with a small wooden spoon. The Pokemon ignored her before glancing at Vincent and repeating the process with the other two.
Hakuno hesitantly took a bite.
It was goooood. Nice, creamy sweet, and sour at the same time. "Parcae… add this to the list of things we have to buy." She muttered and had a feeling that if the Terminal had eyes it would've rolled them.
But… this berry and ice cream was divine. She must have more!
It was a Starf Berry, not used too much in Pokemon battles due to its unpredictableness and most Pokemon not enjoying them due to the mixing of flavors so it wasn't something commonly sold at Pokemarts. She did however find a shop that sold exclusively produce and Berries especially, and bought the small handful they had that were getting close to being ripe on her way to the Pokemon Center.
Munching on another before she slipped into bed, it had been a fun day.
Author's Notes: Hakuno had ice cream! Yay for her! Starf Berries remind me of star fruit for obvious reasons. Poor Nomia no ice cream for her.
The two kids won't join her on her journey to Cianwood nor the camping trip, but they will meet up again sooner than poor Maizie in Azalea.
Also, got a new job, working 6 days a week so it might take me a bit longer to do the next chapter, and I got training twoish hours away so I'm going to be bit tired, but I will do my best!
Anyways cya next time!
