It had been two weeks, and a rough two weeks it was. They came back to Stephanie dictating everymove while Paul had to meet with Lawyers to figure out how the divorce would play out while Vincesold the company. Paul understood why Stephanie wanted to play this carefully, but he just wanted out.In the meantime, Kamaria truly put the strict boundary with him and Bobby.
She honestly did not know how to deal with either one. Somehow, she felt betrayed by them.
'Why do I attract the messy ones.'
She was walking a texting as usual when she rounded the corner. It was late and she just wanted to bedone handling anything WWE related. Paul was making his way down the hall to she her walking andtexting. His girl. He missed her laugh, whispers, and voice. Even if she was mad.
It was like slow motion for him to see her walking closer to him. He didn't know what to say, but he justknew he wanted his girl back.
"Ree"
She looked up, and saw her man just looking defeated. It broke her heart seeing him like this, but it wasfor the best. No one wanted the tabloids reporting anything.
"Paul".
"Can we talk somewhere, I need to see you".
"Just talk. Come by the apartment".
"I'll meet you there".
She walked off as he walked to his car. He since got her an apartment in the city, and she took it overafter the got back. She wanted to make sure as the process happened nothing would look fishy. Heinsisted he pay for half of the rent, but it was in her name. She entered the restroom breathing hardbecause she avoided him up until this point, and as days went by it got easier until ten minutes ago. Herphone broke her thoughts.
"You finally answer my calls. Will you tell me why you won't text me back, and why I'm dealing with yourassistant?", Bobby asked.
"I don't know, maybe you didn't tell me about Boss Lady and you?", she angrily whispered.
"Who I date or fuck isn't any of your business."
"It is when I'm dating her husband. So you want to rethink that response Robert?"
"Fuck, Kamaria. Why are you..."
"Aht, Aht. You don't get to question me. You hid that from me. You know that's not how we work.Bobby we've been friends since college, remember?"
"I know, listen, I didn't say anything because I could have been fired, but it also hurt. I broke it offbecause I wanted more, and she wanted it to stay as it was. I want a wife Kamaria. I want kids. Ieventually want to walk away from this before I can't walk."
She sighed listening to him. She knew about his real estate license and investments to plan for lifeoutside of WWE. He wasn't a camera guy, but was interested in the behind the scenes of the tv andmovie business. That's how he got Kamaria back in his life. She introduced him to folks she knew in thebusiness and he's been making moves so when it's time to walk he's covered.
"When did it happen Kay".
"Almost a year".
"Damn. You were there when he went in".
"Yeah".
"I'm not here to judge. I'm here as a friend. From one to another, please be careful".
"He's leaving her and this company".
"What?!"
"Yeah. Not sure if he can leave the company, but I know he served her with papers. Maybe you havehope".
Bobby got really quiet. It was a lot to take in. Why didn't she tell him? Why was she ok with getting adivorce? He needed to talk to her.
"I got to go. I'm meeting with Paul. Listen, please be careful too. Divorces are messy and hurtful".
"Same. Love ya"
"You too".
She ended that call, and gathered herself with some splashes on her face. Grabbing her stuff from theoffice, she made her way home to find Paul pacing in her front room. When she walked in her walkedover and just kissed her. Secretly she missed that but right now, it needed to be just talking.
"Hey"
"I got worried"
"I got a call and left a little late".
"Listen, I'm sorry it's been a lot these last two weeks".
She side stepped him to pace herself, and he just rubbed his head.
"Listen, I know. I gave my resignation today. Stephanie was mad, and Vince was indifferent. I think it'sbest I leave".
"Ree. C'mon. Just wait a little bit longer. Listen, if you want, work from home. You don't have to be inthe office everyday. I'm not going to be there much myself".
"Why?"
"I requested to work from my apartment. With the new management coming in, I don't need to be inthe office all the time. That's why I wanted to talk to you. It's a good compromise for now untilmanagement figures out who they keeping with the sell and letting go".
She sat on her couch in disbelief. He was serious about leaving. Inside she was excited for him, but feltlike he was giving things up for her. She never wanted him to give up anything unless he wanted to. Notfor her or anyone else.
"Say something. Anything".
I'm going to ask you a question. No tearing up my house or breaking phones. You need to be honestwith me".
"Anything".
"How do I know this won't repeat itself or you won't get bored?"
He sat in shock she said that to him. In the same realm, he understood it. He didn't have the best trackrecord. He looked at her and she had tears running down her face but stayed quiet. In the last twoweeks, a lot of facts came out about the both of them. She saw the best in them both, but they bothhave done dirt towards each other. Kamaria was worried. How did she know he would repeat himself .How did she know once she became the main chick that he would not get bored.
"That is a fair question, and the only way to answer that is trusting me and letting me prove that you. Iknow we started in secrecy. I also know once this gets out people will talk, have their opinions, and evenvoice them. You must know; I would never intentionally hurt you and will be with you through this. Youhave been by my side so far, and I am not going anywhere. Please give us a chance. An honest chance."
An honest chance. That sat with them both. She still sat quietly. He went to get up to leave, and shegrabbed his hand.
"Stay."
~~~~~
He texted her at first, and then began to call. She sat watching the phone light up every time he triedgetting hold of her. On the surface, Stephanie was strong. She had it all, until a month ago. Inside, shewas a mess. Some part of her was relieved Paul asked for a divorce. They were young and ambitious. Atone point they truly did love each other. They had three kids, but it felt like they were drifting. That iswhen his first affair started. She was so hurt, but after the talk with her mother, she toughened up.
"Honey, you are a McMahon Woman. You will always get cheated on, but you make sure the whores donot get pregnant or cause a divorce. Set rules."
"Mother! You left?"
"I wanted more. I was in charge. It is one thing to run a company. It is something different to control astate or country. Trust me, it is all a build."
That's what kept her sane. Then he came back.
~FLASHBACK~
"It has been great to have you back Bobby. I know my father was on a cutting kick, but Paul and I havebeen working on repairing those relationships and bringing back folks who were let go but have a lot tooffer."
"Thanks. I love wrestling but I know I cannot do this forever. I have setting up life afterwards, so if thatcall never came, I would be fine with the time I had."
"Wow. I mean it would be weird to see life outside of this."
"It is not as bad as you think. There must be more to Stephanie than this."
They talked for hours that day, and that is how it began. They would meet up for lunch or dinner afterthe shows and just talk. She knew Paul was sleeping one of the women superstars since he created NXT,but she was too busy to care at that moment. This, whatever it was, was the best comfort she had hadin years.
"See? Real Estate is booming near you, and with your income, you could get into the commercial realestate market with no problem. What do you want? What do you have to pass down to the girls, besidesWWE?"
She just looked at him. It was not a conversation Paul was interested in having at the time. He justlooked at her, and it was then he began to see her differently. Her blue eyes took him by surprise. Hejust kissed her on the cheek. It shocked them both. She looked at him one more time and kissed himhard. He did not push her away.
"Yes?"
"You really weren't going to answer my text or calls?"
"I wasn't sure if I wanted to.," she softly answered.
"I'm sorry."
"I'm guessing you talked to Kamaria."
"Yeah, and we need to talk."
"We cannot go back to what it was. Everyone knows at this point. She resigned, and I am tempted toleave myself."
"Well, I'm here."
"I miss us, Bobby."
"You wanted me as a side piece."
"I know. Listen doing this on the phone is pointless. I am not leaving for a week. What did they scheduleyou for?"
"I am off for the next two weeks. I was planning on flying home to work on some things."
"I will cover the hotel cost. We need to talk."
