Imthor watched the result when they searched some strange teleportation by the scanners. He couldn't believe that idea actually worked. He was grateful he got the authorisation to search for strange behavior, even if they didn't go to code yellow. Behind his golden mask, he smiled a bit. They could do something instead of just behind on the side.
Sarah suggestion took away their powerlessness. They could help Peyton and his parents in a way. For that, they would need to plan a lot of things and coordinated with the mipedians to rescue them. The problem was how to teleport them back to Earth once they saved them. He had no idea if the portal would work or it might be better to use a Telebracers. He put his fingers on his forehead as he put a lot of his processor into figuring out the solution.
The creature sighed and pushed that aside. He decided to focus on the now. They had an opportunity to do something. They knew where the metalists might be. This was huge progress.
He pressed on a few things and continued to progress in his search. He observed where the creatures teleported. He noticed that they teleported many times around Perim for a while. It started around the time the creatures obtained the little part of the scanner to create their Telebracers, "They were spying on the creatures for a long time. They also knew of the m'arrillian war and did nothing. They just stood on the side. Makes sense since they have no affiliation with the tribes."
He then triangulated all of the abnormal teleportation from some of the suspect scanners. He made sure that those weren't use by the players. He could see a few usages from the creatures when they showed up on Chaotic and a few others that teleported around. He eliminated those when he was certain of it.
The third one gave the same result. There was a large island outside of the continent where strange teleportation happened many times. He could see that it returned around the same location.
"This location needs to be investigated," Imthor decided. He took note of the coordinates and left the room.
Chapter 70: A Chance
Sarah ported in front of Theb-Saar palace. She watched it and wondered if it was a good idea to tell him the news right now. It seemed good, but the mipedian king might want to act immediately and not be cautious. She wasn't sure if the king would be impatient. Peyton was gone for a while already. Not only that, his parents were also taken away.
She guessed that Wamma might want to act quickly if she was the prisoner. She knew her friend well enough to guess that he would fight hard to save her. Even if he ended up wounded and acting the opposite way of his lazy self.
Still, Theb-Saar deserved to get the news now. He was a true friend of Peyton and he proved it a few times already.
She approached the castle and stopped in front of the guards, "I'm here to see Theb-Saar, I have something important to tell him," she waited for the guards to open the gate. She came there a few times, mostly to tell him that she had no news. She remembered how frustrated the mipedian was when he learned that there was no progress on her side. This time, she had something and it surely would make his mood better.
She thought a bit back. She crossed her arms and wondered if she was that way when it was about Tom. She had no news about her boyfriend. She had no idea if he was okay or if he was still on the island he was.
Kaz didn't find anything about Tom for now. She knew he would do everything to find Tom. She had no reason to doubt her friend.
The mipedians were probably the best chance she got to save Peyton. They were friends with Peyton and cared for him. Many creatures of different tribes liked Peyton. The danians were focused on her safety, the underworlders were busy with Van Bloot, the overworlds with searching for Tom and helping the mipedians. As for the m'arrillians, she wasn't sure what their intentions or plans were. Still, she knew they didn't plan to use the mess to invade Perim. Remi told him that they were cooperative in helping Peyton. That was only for now.
"You may enter," one guard brought her out of her thought.
"Okay," she nodded at them and entered the palace.
Once more, she marched straight to the throne room with the guard following her. She hoped that the king wasn't in a bad mood. He surely wouldn't be in a good mood anyway.
She reached the throne room and the king sat on his throne.
He watched the girl and nodded. He offered a small smile. He seemed to be tired or there was a lot on his mind, "Welcome Sarah. He told me that you brought some news for me," his red eyes focused on her own eyes. He was surely searching for what she said or unsaid in their little talk.
Sarah guessed that he sounded a bit hopeful, but kept it under check. He wanted to be sure that she wouldn't give him false hope, "Yes. You… You seem a bit tired."
"The hunt for the metalists isn't easy. We are trying to get more intel and it's slow. We just know that Peyton and his parents are safe and sound… for now. Knowing the past history of the humans and the metalists isn't something reassuring," he crossed his fingers, "We can move on to the reason of your presence here," he brought it back to the reason she came.
The woman nodded. She had a small smile as she was about to tell him the news, "We might have a shoot at finding Peyton."
"What do you mean?" he was fully open to anything she would say. He inched forward and waited for more. He wished that he knew what a shoot meant. He could only guess it might be a chance at something.
"I talked with the codemasters about something… If we could track the Telebracers with the little bit of the scanner. Like, knowing where anyone would teleport when they used it. They could do it with the scanners and maybe with the Telebracers," she glanced at the side as she wondered if she explained it correctly. She had no idea and went on, "They tried something. I don't know what they did, but they managed to find some strange things when it came to teleportation. There is a place where no one probably never went. They came from different places on Perim, even one from inside here," she told him.
Theb-Saar quickly thought about the escape of their prisoner. He chuckled, "I guess that saving their comrade might be costly for them now. We only use it to teleport around Perim or the Cothica. Not to this unknown location. We cannot anyway," the blue mipedian smiled grew a bit larger.
"Yes. Imthor said he would try some triangulation to be sure that the location is the right one. You wouldn't want to send everyone at the wrong place," she warned him.
"Yes. Patience is key. It is paying up. However, I am indeed getting impatient to rescue Peyton and his parents," the muscles tensed under the scales of the king.
Sarah knew the king wanted this entire situation to be resolve quickly. Probably even more since the parents were involved. She clenched her hands and replied, "Me too. I wished it would be over quicker, but we have a chance now. They probably don't know that we can track them now and if they knew, I don't think they can evacuate everyone. They surely don't have enough Telebracers for that."
"Obviously. Still, this is their territory and an invasion is never easy. This is why Perim remained in a stalemate. The only exception was during the m'arrillian invasions. Their abilities were unknown at the start and they conquered a lot of Perim quickly. The metalists are also unknown. We know they have strange power that is outside of the elements, just like the humans."
"Yes. The power of darkness. I don't know if it's stronger than the elements, but I do know that the power of light is stronger than darkness. I'm not even sure if there is some kind of triangle thing going on with power of anything or not," she thought of a video game series as she explained that.
"I will not act for now, but I will speak with the Codemasters later and figured out the best course of action. I will not be reckless when we have a chance at saving them," Theb-Saar told her. He clenched his hands. His tribe would not fail their friend.
Codemaster Crellan walked towards the meeting room where codemaster Imthor should be. He was a bit nervous as he checked his scanner, "Why didn't he answer yet?"
He tried to contact Imthor and got no reply so far. He wondered if something went on and was too busy to answer. It was the most logical reason he wouldn't be either in his match or in his room. The only other place he could think for was the meeting room.
He reached it and looked around. He frowned when he didn't see the codemaster anywhere. He searched tried to contact him again, but got no reply once more. He knew that Imthor's scanner was working and he got the message. He was surely fine, but he wasn't at his usual location. Crellan hoped that it wouldn't be the case of someone doing something stupid.
He sighed and decided to contact the other Codemasters and figured things out. He wondered who was the last one who saw or spoke with him. He quickly noticed, by the answers, that Hotekk was the last one who spoke with him when he was with Sarah.
"Sarah? Why would he be talking with her?" he knew Hotekk attitude. He asked where he was.
I'm in my room, planning a new strategy to beat those players. Was the answer from Hotekk.
"Guess you lost your last match," Crellan sighed.
That usually meant he wasn't in his best mood. He quickly went to his room.
The personal rooms weren't necessary for them, but they decided why not. It was a personal space they had and whatever happened behind those walls, it was only for them to known. No humans could ask them what they did in their room. No reports to give about their personal space. The codemasters accepted to have some sort of freedom outside of their duties and their role as the codemasters of the Chaotic game.
He stood in front of Hotekk door. The very fact that a painting of himself was at the entrance with some kind of smug expression made him hesitated to know. Crellan was sure that he painted himself not for vanity, or just vanity, but to annoy them into now bothering him.
It usually worked.
Crellan knocked on the door, "It's Crellan. I need to know where Imthor is," he demanded.
Hotekk opened the door. He suspiciously looked at the other IA, "What do you mean you don't know where Imthor is?"
The other codemaster glanced at the side for a few seconds. He wondered about it, before he answered, "I don't know. The last time I heard him was when we concluded that we might be able to find Peyton and his parents."
"Wait? We can find them?" Crellan asked a bit in disbelief.
"Yes. We can track them with the little pieces of the scanner they used for the Telebracers. Imthor made some triangulation," Hotekk explained.
"I didn't find him anywhere. I searched for him and I can't find him anywhere," Crellan was a bit worried.
"Do you think he tried something reckless?" the codemaster asked a bit in disbelief.
"Imthor isn't you," Crellan replied. He ignored the angry response from the other codemaster, "I don't think he would, but with everything going on, I am worried. He wants to help everyone and might do something risky with the pressure he felt on his shoulders."
"I hope he didn't check out the location," Hotekk concluded.
AC: This is the end of this chapter.
Next: Scouting.
Imthor actually did something reckless.
