Liberation of the Lost Part Two
As much as she loved the thrill of battle, and the power of the Grid rushing through her body, Udonna knew this was not permanent, as her real snow staff remained locked in the depths of the Underworld.
The fact that she could transform again was no less than a miracle, facilitated by a Heavenly Saint, and she had to make every moment she had the power count.
She glared at the Knight Wolf as he swung his sword at her again.
The last time she had fought him, she had been distraught by the revelation that this man had killed Leanbow, but more than that, she had held back, for some reason. Despite Koragg's taunts, something within her had coaxed her to not unleash her full strength… And that had cost her dearly.
It was a mistake she could not afford to repeat.
"Why do you continue to fight, witch?" He snarled at her. "Have you not witnessed the raw strength of darkness firsthand?"
Udonna did not reply as she maintained her grip on her staff as it collided with his sword.
"I have taken your staff before… And I will take this one too, to add to my collection." Koragg sniped.
She felt her grip on her staff tighten, even though she knew that this was not her real staff, merely an extension of the raw magic the heavenly saint had endowed her with, which had mimicked her former weapon for the sake of her comfort.
Udonna felt rage building up inside her. Centuries ago, the barbaric belief that a victor of a mystic duel gained the rights to the talismans and weapons of the other warlock had been forsaken by the Mystic Ones… The bond between a mystic and their talisman was sacred and lifelong, unless it is willingly passed over to someone else. What Koragg had done was a travesty, though the forces of darkness neither knew nor cared about such things.
"You will do no such thing!" Udonna roared, pushing back against his sword, and ramming against him.
Thrown back by her sudden strength, Koragg staggered back.
"Yes! Give me a fight I will remember!" He hollered, standing up.
Udonna saw his armour ripple. The amethyst metal seemed to be almost fluidic. It was probably a result of him channeling the dark wolf spirits.
She aimed her staff at him, her magic flowing from her armour and converging on the snow flake on top of the staff, making it glow in an intense white light.
"ENERGY OF LIGHT, FIRE!" Multiple bolts of blazing light shot out from her staff at the knight, who raised his shield just in time. The attacks blasted Koragg's shield with massive bursts of sparks, the impact throwing him backward again, his heels digging into the dirt.
"Is that all you have got, wrench?" He leered. "I told you before, darkness devours the light!"
"We will see!" Udonna clenched her teeth, ramming her snow staff on the ground. "FROST QUAKE!"
A line of frost quickly spread from the point her staff had touched the ground to where Koragg was standing.
"What-" The knight started to say, before the ground ripped open and an icy explosion flung him to the sky.
Without giving him a time to recover, Udonna ran at him.
"BLIZZARD RUSH!" Much like when Nick channeled his phoenix spirit in his attacks, her own body transformed into a swirling snow storm that enveloped Koragg, his body flailing helplessly in the attack, and sparks tearing through his armour, before the icy whirlpool vanished. Koragg crashed unceremoniously on the ground, as Udonna rematerialized behind him.
"I underestimated you, sorceress." Koragg admitted grudgingly, pulling himself up as Udonna turned to face him. "But don't think for a moment that you have won this fight!"
Udonna scoffed, but she knew better than to take the knight's words as empty threats. She had to strike now, when he was still catching his break. Maybe if she was lucky, her attack would dispel whatever tether he had with the wolf spirits, and end this whole mess.
"SNOW STAFF, FULL POWER! ARCTIC SEAL!" She thrust her staff, and this time, a steady beam of icy torrent slammed against Koragg, encasing him in a slab of ice, before he could retaliate.
She looked around to see the numerous wolfblades and lupine creatures, which the other rangers were facing, freeze up as well, much to their combatant's confusion.
The rangers glanced up to see her and the icy slab Koragg was contained in, and broke into a chorus of heartfelt cheer.
"Is it over?" Chip asked, when the rangers quickly came to stand beside her.
"That was amazing, Udonna!" Neil said in awe. "You have to teach me all these super attacks, someday."
"That takes years of training to master. If you try that now, you will lose control of your elemental powers." Lena cut in as always. "But I agree with you, Udonna just won the war."
"Thank you, everyone." Udonna nodded her head. For months, all she could do was monitor the fights from Rootcore. Finally, she felt as if she had contributed something worthwhile to the fight.
"Is he… dead inside?" Nick asked, pointing at Koragg with his staff.
"I don't believe so." Zen Aku said. "I can sense the dark energies inside, but the enchantment binding him is strong. It will hold."
Udonna sensed some hesitation inside his voice, as the Eclipse Ranger continued to look at the entrapped warrior, but before she could press, the other black ranger spoke up.
"So, I am happy that this whole thing is over, but I need to get back to my own team now… back to Corinth."
"Corinth?" Madison asked curiously.
"The last city of humanity… in my world, at least." The ranger said.
"Your world?" Chip asked excitedly. "You are from another universe!"
"Great, a comic nerd, I am guessing. You remind me of Flynn." The ranger groaned.
"If you are from another universe, I believe I can help you find a way back." Clare stepped up. "I am the Gatekeeper."
"Okay…" The black ranger agreed.
"So, that's it?" Nick asked. "All over? That purple caped dude mentioned something about reinforcements coming in-"
He was cut off by Ryan whacking his head.
"Don't jinx it, buddy!" He snapped. "You stay in the game long enough that the moment you even think something along that line-"
His words were drowned out by a loud explosion of purple light that threw all of them back.
They looked up to see Koragg standing free amongst the smashed ruins of his former icy prison.
Howls filled the air, and they turned back to see the wolf monsters break free as well.
"Well, that happens!" Ryan cursed.
"Time for Round Two, then." Vida cracked her knuckles, while the monsters surrounded them from all sides.
