A/N: Thanks as always to my friend qazse for help with reactions and my brother Sai for the script and the video: "Gargantuan Gorilla! Garangolm Lore". Check it out as you read along and subscribe to help out my bro-bro.
"Garangolm? That's the really big monkey that fought Lunagaron, right?!" Ruby asked excitedly.
"Yeah, the last of the Three Lords?!" Nora asked, equally excited.
"That's correct, yes. I'm sure you'll all enjoy it." Katana told them.
"Awesome! That thing looks like a TOTAL bruiser! I'm definitely gonna need one on my team!" Yang exclaimed.
"I'll admit, I'm quite curious about them as well. With that size, they must be among the physically strongest monsters out there. Not to mention that hide of theirs looks like it could withstand blasts from Salem." Hazel admitted.
"Yeah, plus it kind of gives it a cool-looking mane. I'm interested to get a better look at them." Coco agreed.
"Then let's not waste any more time and get right to it!" Tekko declared as her mother started the video.
The Commander was making "mmm" sounds, apparently having just finished eating. "That was delicious, Sai, thank you. It's been a while since I had a real good salad." The man in charge praised the Sapphire Star.
A few of them smiled and nodded at that comment. "That was nice of him making a salad for the Commander. A nice garden salad is my favorite!" Velvet said with a smile.
"I prefer a chef salad, myself. I'm fine with the greens and everything, but mama still needs SOME meat in there." Coco admitted.
"Regardless, salads and other choice veggies are important for a well-balanced diet... I just wish some people would eat them more... Or EVER." Ren informed them, giving Nora an accusing look at the end, but she seemed oblivious to the glare.
"I don't like them, either. Weiss tried to make me one with strawberries in it, but it still wasn't good. Not sweet enough." Ruby said.
"Yeah. I can't remember the last time I ate a salad and I'm perfectly fine." Yang agreed with her sister.
"Well, once we're back home, I'll be making sure you both eat properly from now on." Summer told her daughters, causing them to groan.
Sai was stood off to the side, happy his meal was enjoyed. "Glad you liked it commander. I made sure to add lots of leafy greens, berries, nuts and avocados. A whole bunch of stuff to prevent cognitive decline and help with brain health and both cognitive and academic performances and improve memory." The host informed, addressing the Commander's memory issues, but being subtle enough to get away with it.
"I can confirm, all of the items Sai listed do exactly as he described. Regularly incorporating a salad such as that into one's diet should almost guarantee brain health lasting long into their elderly years." Penny confirmed.
"Never would've guessed he was any kind of chef or dietician." Winter admitted.
"People can surprise you when given the chance. The old saying 'first impressions are everything' holds SOME merit, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't give someone a second chance. They may just surprise you." Ozpin said.
The elder hunter scoffed dismissively at this. "I think I'm perfectly fine in all those categories, but I appreciate the thought nonetheless." He said, before a laugh track was heard (Something they ALL laughed along with). "So, did that cost you too much, getting the ingredients from the chef?" The man in charge asked curiously.
The dual blades user stood up proudly at this. "Oh, I grew them myself, actually! I have a nice little garden for fruits, veggies and pretty much all other foods you can grow naturally. It's actually a really soothing hobby that helps me keep my blood pressure down... And stop the Fatalis armor from taking over my mind." Sai explained as he was shown to be wandering around a ranch.
"Sai has a garden? Never would've taken him for the type." Weiss said.
"Yeah. You wouldn't think a FIRE demon is a big fan of plants." Nora agreed.
"That's just you two stereotyping. People can like whatever they want, no matter who they are." Blake told them.
"In any case, he is correct that that gardening is an excellent way to relieve stress and reduce blood pressure. I, myself even have a small garden of both flowers and plants. It helps calm my nerves, especially after dealing with the shenanigans of... certain students." She said, glaring at the students, but Ruby, Yang and Nora in particular.
"Well, good for Sai for finding a way to deal with that blood pressure." Pyrrha said with a smile, shared by a few others.
But then, any smiles went away when they were reminded that the Fatalis armor was trying to take over the host. "Now, let's hope he can find a way to deal with THAT. We don't need a demon running around with Fatalis' mindset." Emerald said.
"That's actually MOST demons." Tekko told her.
The Commander looked at him skeptically for a moment. "Have you ever considered not wearing the Fatalis armor anymore?" He suggested, some actual concern in his voice.
Anyone who was holding their drink dropped it in shock. "Okay, am I going crazy, or did the commander actually MAKE SENSE?" Qrow asked in shock.
"I'd say you're STILL going crazy, but you're right. He actually said something useful." Cinder confirmed.
"Which goes to show how serious the situation is if it manages to pull HIM out of senility." Adam added.
Sai began to crack up at this. "Ha! No." The Sapphire Star refused, suddenly becoming serious again.
Many of the rational cast groaned or shouted in frustration at Sai's comeback. "If he KNOWS the Fatalis armor is a threat to his mind, why does he continue to wear it?!" Ironwood demanded.
"Because it grants him power. And power can be... intoxicating. It feels good, gives you a rush and makes you feel alive. That's how I feel with Dust coursing through my veins." Hazel explained.
However, some of the more immature cast couldn't help but laugh at the host's response. "The switch up on the tone is crazy!" Neo giggled.
"Kinda like you, ice cream. You go from sweet and adorable to murderous psychopath like that." Roman said snapping his fingers.
"And proud of it." Neo said proudly.
The Commander sighed at this. "Oh well. At least gardens like yours help the environment, too. Too bad people are the only ones that do that. Imagine if animals could help the environment." The elderly man suggested with a chuckle.
Crickets could then be heard as Sai looked at his boss incredulously. "You know what, I think you could use another salad, I'll be right back." The Sapphire Star said as he walked away, clearly a jab that the Commander still needed nutrients for his brain.
The intellectual members sweatdropped at the Commissioner's comment. "And he's back to senile again..." Ilia said.
"Even I know animals help the environment. Like bees pollinating flowers and keeping plants alive so we have air to breathe and junk." Ruby noted.
"Indeed. If someone believes animals don't help the environment, they don't know A THING about the environment." Glynda agreed.
Sai was venturing through the always-beautiful Ancient Forest. "Nature and the environment outside of our settlements is a beautiful thing that should be cherished and protected at all costs. And while some humans are willing to help the environment, we often make the mistake of believing we are the only things that can do so. But in fact, nothing is further from the truth. Many animals in nature often help the environment around them just by doing their day-to-day lives. Some examples being bats being masters of insect pest control, beavers making dams that trap water and create ponds that keep the soil moist and vegetation green, which hinders fires and even ants aiding in decomposition and aerating the soil and recycling nutrients as the dig tunnels." The host explained as he observed a Paolumu, another hunter being in combat with a bear/beaver hybrid monster, then Sai observing some large ants.
"Indeed. It's truly marvelous what kind of wonderful plants and creatures you can find out in nature." Ozpin agreed.
"But wow, I knew about the bats, but I had no idea beavers and ants were so helpful to the environment." Neo said, amazed.
"You would if you ever bothered to watch any of those documentaries with me." Emerald told her.
"I'm good, thanks." Neo said, prompting Emerald to roll her eyes.
"Aww, but that beaver monster is so cute!" Ruby cooed.
"Caeserber. They're pretty low on the food chain, but they can still pick up and throw around trees." Razara explained.
"Quite impressive for something on the low end of monsters." Ozpin admitted, impressed.
The Dual Blades-User was now following Coral Pukei-Pukei through the Coral Highlands. "And, of course, monsters do their parts for the environment as well, such as Pukei-Pukei eating the tough-shelled plants of the Ancient Forest and... depositing them elsewhere, increasing germination and the spread of these plants. Or Zorah Magdaros leaking lava throughout its life, enriching soil and even making new landmasses." The Sapphire Star informed as Zorah Magdaros was shown swimming in the ocean.
"I still say we should have at least a Zorah Magdaros on Remnant. They could make whole new islands we could make new Kingdoms on! And it would take a while for the Grimm to make their way to them." Yang said.
"But in the meantime, it could easily move through and destroy existing Kingdoms." Ironwood countered.
"And since experiences Monster Hunters have never slain one of these creatures, I' don't expect ours would be much better." Winter added to the general's reasoning.
"Yeah, but... fertile soil! And... And..." Yang tried to come up with more reasons to bring the volcano turtle to Remnant.
"You just want to try and fight one, don't you?" Blake asked.
Yang sighed at this. "Yeah." She admitted.
A large gorilla-like monster with rocky armor was then shown. "Another example would be our monster of discussion for today. A gentle giant with a body perfect for creating land from which new life can flourish, but get on his bad side and Garangolm will show you he's equally gifted at destruction." Sai declared as the best let out an intimidating roar and tore up a huge chunk of rock to drop on a group of raptors.
"Whoa! I know we saw it before, but that thing's a BEAST!" Nora exclaimed in awe.
"That's quite a thick hide it has. It would certainly make it difficult for a lot of weapons, ammunition or other monsters' teeth and claws to get through." Ren noted, impressed.
"But despite looking quite ferocious, it seems gentle..." Pyrrha said with a smile... until the Garangolm went beast mode on the Boggi. "Nevermind." She said awkwardly.
"Hey, that's on them for pissing off something THAT HUGE." Ilia told her.
Cyra now observed Garangolm from a safe distance. "Also known as the Wandering Colossus, the final member of the Three Lords, alongside Lunagaron and Malzeno- technically the first, but I messed up the order- Garangolm is another RELATIVELY simple-looking creature like Lunagaron. It looks like an absolutely massive gorilla, but instead of normal primate feet, it has three-toed feet similar to an elephants and it also has a long, thick tail, ending in a four-digited hand-like structure. But now, onto the most notable feature, Garangolm is covered in a thick, rigid, stone-like brown shell covering the top and outside of their bodies, forming into fearsome natural gauntlets on their forearms and forming into a lion-like mane around their head, forming into a natural chin guard and crown-like helmet, giving them a block-like head shape like Frankenstein's monster. And they also have a layer of moss growing on it for some extra color, more on that later." The host described the beast as its important features were shown when they were mentioned.
"Wandering Colossus? That sounds badass!" Coco exclaimed.
"It's definitely COLOSSAL. Which likely means it's strong." Hazel said eagerly.
"We DID just see it tear up a boulder from the ground." Adam said, equally eager to see the creature's strength.
"Not to mention, that hide looks nice and thick. And Sai even just said it's like stone. So it's probably pretty tanky, too." Qrow said.
But then, Ruby gasped upon hearing the comparison to Frankenstein's monster. "Frankenstein? That sounds like Drakenstein! So that means... I. WAS. Riiiiiight!" Ruby declared in sing-song, a smug look on her face.
Most everyone else either groaned or rolled their eyes at this. "Ugh. Nothing is more annoying than a smug Ruby..." Weiss groaned.
"Except a smug Yang." Blake pointed out.
Garangolm was now seen sleeping peacefully. "Found in the swamps of The Citadel and the Flooded Forest, Garangolm is the gentle giant of The Three Lords. It merely wishes to either sleep, or peacefully roam its environment, scraping and digging up grass to munch on, but occasionally enjoying a nice fish. And it should absolutely be allowed to roam, as Garangolm is one of the most beneficial monsters to the environment we know if. It is the ULTIMATE gardener, its massive size, dense muscles and thick shell mean its VERY heavy, so it flattens out the land as it walks. And its tail functions very similarly to a trake, tilling the land and recycling the nutrients in the soil as it walks. And it is known to prefer areas with nutrient-rich soil to call home." The Dual Blades User informed as Garangolm peacefully wandered its territory. "But most fascinating of all, Garangolm secretes a sap-like fluid that promotes the growth of plants. So he is both the gardener and the fertilizer." The Sapphire Star as Garangolm indeed leaked out a sap-like substance from its arm bracers.
A few liked the sound of the beast's docile nature. "A gentle giant. I like that. Like Yatsuhashi. Maybe it's friendly like him, too." Velvet said with a hopeful smile.
"I like how it's a lazy boi that just wants to sleep. It's like Espinas!" Ruby said happily.
"Should we be concerned how much she seems to like one of the most dangerous, poisonous monsters we've seen so far?" Cinder asked Summer.
"I've been concerned about what monsters she does and doesn't like since I got here..." Summer sighed.
"Grass... And fish. Weird combo." Roman said.
"Well, animals IN GENERAL are not as simply defined as 'herbivores' and 'carnivores' as we once thought. It turns out, MOST animals in nature are closer to omnivores, as either facultative herbivores or facultative carnivores. Which means they mainly focus on plants or meat, but will on occasion eat something from the other end if they have the chance. They can't afford to pass up free calories, after all." Glynda explained. "So, I'd wager Garangolm is a facultative herbivore, mostly focusing on plants and fruits, but occasionally eating fish for meat when they have the opportunity." The vice-headmistress theorized.
"Then, at that point, what's the difference between them and omnivores?" Roman asked.
"Omnivores more regularly eat both plants and meat, so they're more flexible than facultative eaters." Glynda explained.
Then, everyone was shocked at the reveal of how the monster helps the environment. "How fascinating! Sai's right, all of these adaptations work PERFECTLY for gardening and making the ideal conditions for most plants in the environment!" Penny said, amazed.
"That's so sweet! It's bringing life to the land!" Ruby gushed over the gargantuan gorilla.
But, as one might expect, a certain someone was a little too excited upon hearing the beast secretes some kind of sap. A gasp rang out from Nora. "Ooh! I wonder what that sap tastes like! I wanna try it!" The hammer-wielder exclaimed excitedly.
"Eww! Nora, that sap's coming out of its body! Plus, most of it's getting covered in moss!" Jaune exclaimed.
"So? Still probably better than Ren's nasty sewage smoothie." She told him.
"Sometimes nutrition is more important than taste." Ren countered.
Garangolm was awoken from a nap and it was NOT happy about it, letting out a furious roar. "However, there is a saying that fits Garangolm perfectly. 'There are three things all wise men fear: the sea in storm. A night with no moon. And the anger of a gentle man.'" The host declared as the Fanged Beast jumped up and landed before the raptors from before, pounding its fists together.
An elderly anthropomorphic frog was sitting in his bed silently. "I don't feel safe." The elderly amphibian declared, apparently unnerved by Sai's declaration.
A few of them felt a shiver up their spine at this comment. "Y-yeah, I'm right there with you, frog guy..." Jaune admitted.
"That was an awesome line. I'm totally gonna use that the next time someone starts getting on my nerves." Yang said with a smirk.
"It wouldn't fit for you. You're about as far from gentle as you can get." Weiss told her... a comment that would get her underwear hooked to her chin by the blonde brawler.
After a short scolding from Winter and Summer, they prepared to continue. But first, someone else had to add their two-sense... "You know you just proved her point, right?" Neo asked.
A pack of the goblin-like raptors ambushed and awoke a sleeping Garangolm, earning its fury. "Yes, when something angers Garangolm- even something as insignificant to him as a pack of Boggi- he changes from mild-mannered Bruce Banner into the rage-fueled Incredible Hulk. And that analogy was very much intentional, because Garangolm's strength increases alongside its fury. And its rage will not be satiated until it or its foe are dead, or if said foe escapes." Sai warned as the Wondering Colossus tore up and launched a giant chunk of rock at the ground and crushed the retreating Boggi. "So, even though Garangolm is among the least threatening monsters you'll find, it can most certainly handle itself in a fight. So a Lunagaron may be able to outmaneuver and out-skill them, it is still a very risky endeavor for them. Definitely do not underestimate the gentle giant." The Dual Blades User informed ominously as Garandolm tussled with a Lunagaron and nearly crushed the Moonlight Nocturne under its massive fist.
"That's so cool that it gets stronger like Hulk does!" Ruby said in awe.
"And now that we know how crazy Lunagaron is, I'm honestly more impressed this guy can hold his own." Roman admitted.
"From the looks of the fight, Lunagaron just catches Garangolm off-guard and gets a few lucky hits in with its speed. Garangolm practically had it dead to rights when he had it pinned like that." Blake pointed out.
"And yet, Garangolm looked like the one that lost." Coco noted.
"Why don't we agree they're both pretty cool?" Velvet suggested.
"They're both part of the Three Lords for a reason." Ilia agreed.
Cyra and her friends were now facing the gargantuan gorilla. "So, what will it look like when that anger is aimed at you? Well, obviously, it is a massive primate, so it is immensely strong- arguably the physically strongest of the Three Lords- and its fists are essentially covered in rock, so it's hitting you with the force of a truck with stone brass knuckles. That CANNOT feel good. These attacks come in the form of powerful slam attacks from either hand, sweeping attacks much in the same way, or a jumping slam with both fists, which he'll immediately follow up with a second slam. And he's not done with slams yet, as he'll jump into the air and bring all his massive weight down for a body slam. He's also known to slam his face into the ground and charge forward while dragging his face like a plow of death, or a spin attack with its tail. He's also well-known to use boulders as projectiles, either launching three at you like Tigrex or one massive one at you like Old World Rajang." The host listed its attacks as it attempted to use them on the bow-wielding Huntress.
They liked the moveset, but nothing they weren't expecting. "Pretty straight forward and predictable" Ironwood noted.
"Maybe, but with how strong it seems to be, it only needs to land once or twice to bring you down." Qrow said.
"And if it lands one hit, you'll really be hurting, so it will be THAT much easier to get the next hit!" Nora declared.
"Plus, imagine how strong I'd get if I let this thing land a few hits on me!" Yang exclaimed.
Summer sighed at this. "Yang, just because you CAN tank the hits and get stronger from doing it, doesn't mean you SHOULD." Summer told her.
"It's important for a warrior to know their limits and to push them further. I'd like to see how its strength stacks up to mine, as well." Hazel declared.
"Those stone knuckledusters would certainly make its strikes more fearsome as well." Adam added.
Sap was shown leaking from Garangolm's bracers again. "And all of this is BEFORE Garangolm busts out his trump cards. Recall, if you will, that Garangolm secretes a sap-like substance from its body. This sap is capable of hardening plants, soil AND Garangolm's armored shell, giving it EVEN MORE protection. And, as one might imagine, it is very sticky, something Garangolm uses to its advantage by plunging its fists and face into the ground, covering its left arm and head in Watermoss absolutely sopping with moisture, while covering its right arm in SEMI-MOLTEN ROCK." Sai declared as the creature plunged fists into the ground, one coming up covering in fiery rock and the other drenched with wet moss.
Now, THAT, they weren't expecting. "Well... That's certainly quite the adaptation." Ozpin admitted, blinking twice with eyes widened in surprise.
"Quite ingenious, but how would they even think to do that?" Glynda wondered in disbelief.
"I could MAYBE understand the watermoss, but HOW does it possibly find MOLTEN ROCK from punching its fist a few feet into soil?!" Weiss questioned.
"Exactly! If Earth is anything like Remnant, you shouldn't be able to find magma until you dig roughly A HUNDRED miles into the planet's surface! The only way it should be possible to find magma THAT CLOSE to the surface was if it was near a volcano!" Penny exclaimed.
"Who cares!? That's so cool! It has fire and water punches now!" Ruby cried out in awe.
"It's kind of similar to how you use Dust, Hazel." Cinder noted her former colleague.
"I can certainly see similarities." Hazel said, impressed.
"Not to mention, it's a pretty good way to keep enemies at bay, you wouldn't want to get too close and touch that magma fist." Cinder pointed out.
Cyra was now struggling against Garangolm's doubled efforts to end her. "And this adds a big layer onto its already staggering physical attacks, such as explosions of fire or water from the respective hand's overhead slam, adding an extra sweep or slam to its double slam attack, which will unleash explosions of both elements with each strike. Each placement of its palms on the ground during its plowing attack will also unleash bursts of fire and water, culminating to an explosion of steam as it rips its head from the ground. It's also been known to take a page out of Yang Xiao Long's book by unleashing an explosion from its fiery hand to launch itself high into the air, either to maneuver around a nearby opponent, or launch itself at a distant opponent to come down on them with a slam from its left fist, unleashing a giant wave of water in the process. And, as one might guess, attacks from these limbs can leave you burning from Fireblight or waterlogged with Waterblight." The Sapphire Star advised as Garangolm unleashed these burning and soaking attacks on his daughter.
"Heck yeah! You can never go wrong with explosions!" Nora said excitedly.
"Yeah. Plus, 'water explosions' is a different kind of cool. You never expect something like that, so that's really neat." Jaune agreed.
But then, they were caught off-guard with a reference to one of their own. "Whoa, he just called you out by name, Yang! And now that he says it like that, I can definitely see the resemblance between you and Garangolm launching yourselves like that." Neo said excitedly.
"Sweet! I got referenced in a video! That just shows how awesome I am!" Yang said smugly.
"And he showed that cartoon version of you and Ruby in the Bishaten lore. I'm starting to see a little bit of bias here." Emerald grumbled.
"Oh, if anything, Uncle Sai has favoritism for Pyrrha and Nora." Tekko said off-handedly.
"Yeah, it's just a lot harder to squeeze in references to you guys into videos like these. The only one I could think of would be referencing Nora's electric absorption when talking about Zinogre." Razara agreed.
Garangolm's fury and elemental wrath showed no signs of slowing down. "And, while I've stated it before, it's worth repeating: Garangolm is very smart. In addition to understanding how to weaponize its sap and the moss covering its body, it also has enough of a grasp on science to understand the principal of flash-boiling, a phenomenon that occurs when a liquid rapidly boils due to a rapid heating. And it applies this in combat with its three deadliest moves: slamming its head down on a target, then slamming both fists on the already downed target, the molten rocks heating the moss to create an explosion of steam to further broil the target. Next, it drags its face across the ground to launch a target into the air, before clapping them between both hands with another steam explosion, or ripping up an absolutely MASSIVE chunk of ground, heating it with its molten rocks and slamming its moss covered hand down on it for an enormous explosion that rivals Primordial Malzeno's Dragon explosion." Sai warned as Cyra desperately avoided the explosive attacks.
And now they were COMPLETELY shocked at this level of intelligence from a monster. "Flash boiling isn't that well known even among fully grown adults! For a monster to be aware of the phenomena at all, let alone apply it to combat... It's almost unthinkable!" Winter said in disbelief.
"Agreed. It's definitely impressive and speaks levels of its intelligence and strategic mind. But also quite unsettling that this knowledge is in the hands of a monster that could pose a threat to people and villages." Pyrrha said in concern.
"And that's without mentioning it uses these attacks after it's stunned or knocked down its opponents to ensure they can't escape its attacks. So it knows perfectly how to set itself up for devastating finishing attacks." Summer added.
"Not to mention, just how hot that magma must be, not just to heat rock AT ALL, but to heat such a massive slab of it THAT quickly before exploding it. Truly intimidating." Penny said.
"Um, I think you mean AWESOME!" Yang declared.
"Indeed. Now we know it's not just a dumb brute. Which means fighting it would actually be worthwhile. Maybe even fun." Adam agreed.
"I know I'd have some fun! We definitely need these on Remnant! I'm TOTALLY gonna fight one!" Nora declared.
"Don't leave me out of the action!" Qrow exclaimed.
The Huntress was now fighting back against the Wandering Colossus. "So, I know this creature sounds like quite the tall order, but remember, it is still the least threatening of the Three Lords. First off, it is weakest to Thunder and Fi-... What?" The host began, before stopping in confusion as a picture of a man reading a parchment was shown. "It's weak to Fire?! It coats one of its hands in freakin' LAVA! How does Fire hurt it!?" The Sapphire Star demanded Garangolm was shown with molten rock on its hands once again.
A spider-like demon was seen reading over a script. "Who wrote this?!" He asked incredulously as he slapped the script in irritation.
And many were just as shocked as the host. "I don't even... how can that possibly work?" Blake said, struggling to process this information.
"Agreed. A tolerance to magma should imply a high heat resistance, yet it's weak to fire. My processors are overheating..." Penny groaned, holding her head.
"Definitely feels like they need to go back and double-check their research on that." Weiss agreed.
Cyra was shown fighting the gargantuan gorilla once again. "Regardless, it is weak to these two elements, with ice at least having SOME level of effectiveness, but Water and Dragon do not help at all. In addition, all ailments except exhaust are at least slightly effective, with Blast, Fireblight and Thunderblight having the greatest effect." The Dual Blades User explained as he showed the charts of the beast's weaknesses.
"Well, regardless of whether or not these weaknesses make sense, at least we are aware of them now." Ironwood said.
"That's a start, I guess." Coco said with a shrug.
"Blast, huh? So, blowing something up is a good way to hurt it. Who would've guessed?" Roman said sarcastically.
The Huntress was now evading the creatures attacks with little effort. "But most importantly, Garangolm is a very big and heavy monster, meaning its generally quite slow. Also not helped by the fact its attacks have a huge wind up, so that and its low speed meaning its moves are easily telegraphed. See it winding up one fist? Move to the other arm. Sweeping its arms? Roll back away from it or forward towards its legs. Raising both its hands up? He's gonna do his jumping slams, roll forward and go under him. Widening its stand and crouching low? Gonna jump for a body slam, get out of there. Putting its face in the dirt? It's plowing time, run for it or- better yet- roll to the side. Reaching across its body? Boulder toss, roll to the side its reaching for. As for his elemental state, if you attack his arms enough, you'll break off the molten rock or watermoss, resulting in an explosion of either element that will knock Garangolm down, allowing you to get some free hits in." The Sapphire Star explained as Cyra managed to topple the stone titan.
"And there it is. Those attacks were certainly looking rather slow from where I was standing." Ozpin said.
"Indeed. All the power in the world means nothing if you can't land a hit on your opponents." Ren said sagely.
"Nice of him to describe EXACTLY HOW to dodge the attacks, too." Jaune noted.
"Yeah, I already feel like I can dodge every attack now!" Velvet said confidently.
"But yikes, that must hurt, having stuff attached to your arms blown up on you." Ruby said, cringing a bit at the mention of how to use Garangolm's elemental mode against it.
"It's happened to me with the Dust in my arms before. I can confirm, it is not a fun experience." Hazel said with a shudder.
The armor sets were then shown in all their glory. "As for its armor and weapons, they absolutely DO NOT disappoint. The male armor looks almost similar to Gammoth armor, an absolute armored titan, only made of stone instead of bone. Meanwhile, the female armor looks like a noble elite knight or officer in a royal command force. As for the weapons, they are mighty and intimidating, if insanely bulky. Even the ones that are supposed to be small and slender like the dual blades or the bow are wider than most hunters arms, maybe even their whole body. The Palico and Palamute sets are also amazing as ever, with the Palamute looking like a horse made of stone and the Palico armor making them look like a tiny flying fortress. And, this is to die for, if the Palico crouches down, the armor actually shifts to make them look like an adorable little castle. I love it." Sai gushed as Cyra crouched down, his animal companions following suit and the Palico armor folding up to look like a castle.
"Oh, dang, that armor's cool! I totally want a set for myself!" Jaune exclaimed.
"I might even consider wearing armor if I got a set of that male armor. Not the female one, though. Not my style. Why even make different sets for different genders, anyway? What's the point?" Yang asked.
"Who let her into the Wilds board meeting?" Tekko whispered to her sister, referencing how their won't be different armor for different genders in the next game.
"Different armor for different styles to look good. Duh." Coco said as if it were obvious.
"Still, I'm quite a fan of the female armor. I agree with Sai, it's both regal, but also has a militaristic feel to it." Winter admitted.
But then they saw the weapons and they were shocked. "That's a bow!? How are you even supposed to see your target past something that thick?! Or hold it steady?!" Cinder asked in disbelief. "And those dual blades look like they should be used in butcher shops!" She exclaimed.
"Yeah, Ruby. I bet you'd be lucky to even LIFT those with your tiny arms." Yang teased, getting a chuckle out of Nora, Qrow, Neo, Roman, Coco, Blake, Weiss, Emerald and Jaune as Ruby pouted.
"Yang, that wasn't very nice to say to your precious baby sister..." Summer said warningly, giving her eldest the stinkeye.
But then the animal armors were shown. "Oh, my! The Palamute armor is amazing! It's a horse made of stone... yet it looks so majestic, regal and full of life!" Weiss said in amazement.
"It's super cute! I want a mini version for Zwei! He'd be like a Mantle Pony!" Ruby cooed. [2]
Then, that Palico armor was seen and all of the girls (and Jaune) cooed over it. "It's adorable!" Pyrrha exclaimed.
"Yeah. It really DOES look like a cute little castle! That'd be perfect for my Palico if I get one. Because we deserve to be living in a castle!" Neo declared.
"I'm getting one, too! Then it'd be perfect for my song! I'm queen of the castle~ I'm queen of the castle~" Nora sang.
Cyra observed the creature from a safe distance one final time. "And so, that is Garangolm, truly deserving of his spot as a member of The Three Lords. He is truly amazing, such a gentle giant and an important part of any ecosystem its in, compacting the land, tilling the soil and fertilizing the plants. And yet, when he has to, he's more than prepared to take on any creature that attempts to give him trouble. Between his massive size, incredibly tough armor and ability to stick watermoss and molten rock to its shell, it's unbelievable than any animal is willing to go after this guy. And, in the end, he reminds us of the vital lesson not to judge a book by its cover, as some more aggressive monsters may start a fight, but back off if its not worth the effort, while this gentle giant never looks for a fight, but if one comes to him, he's MORE than willing to finish it. So, it's always best to let sleeping apes lie." The host finished as Cyra put the Wander Colossus in a trap, before using tranq bombs to allow it to return to its peaceful slumber.
"That's always a good message. Leave nature alone. It only gets you in trouble when you mess with it first." Emerald said, crossing her arms and nodding with her eyes closed.
"Agreed. I believe they should actually be a protected species, considering the NUMEROUS benefits Sai listed the creature has for the environment." Penny suggested.
"I can certainly see the merit to that decision. We'll have to increase settlement protection, though, so they can't accidentally wonder into villages outside of the Kingdoms. And make ABSOLUTELY SURE hunters know to avoid it at all costs. As Sai pointed out, at least predators will give up if the chase doesn't prove worth it. With Garangolm's aggression, I fear nothing would save a hunter who draws its ire. And fleeing back to their village would only put more citizens in danger." Glynda noted.
"Eh. That's on them. Not Garangolm's fault." Nora said.
"But it IS your duty as a Huntress to ensure the safety of the people, Nora. I would HIGHLY advise not neglecting that duty." Glynda warned her, causing her to gulp.
"You know what we're gonna ask." Razara told them, wanting their thoughts.
"It was so cool! I like how it looks like Drakenstein's monster, but I LOVE how it helps the environment! And the idea of it being a gardener is so cute!" Ruby cooed, having a chibi fantasy of herself with a garden... on the back of a Yama Tsukami she named "Balloon Boy", where she was hard at work gardening along with a Garangolm and watering plants with her Coral Pukei-Pukei, Coral.
"I still wanna fight the big guy! I bet I could tank every one of his attacks! Plus, i wanna see who can launch themselves further!" Yang declared.
"I wanna fight one, too! And then when I bring it down, I'll use its sap for syrup!" Nora exclaimed.
Weiss stuck her tongue out in disgust at this. "Nora, that is sickening!" The heiress told her.
"Not to mention, you'd basically be eating its sweat." Ren told his girlfriend, shaking his head in shame.
Ruby then zipped up to Katana. "So, Katana? Are we getting Garangolm on Remnant, PLEASE?! It'd be good for the environment!" Ruby insisted.
However, a certain general decided to be a buzzkill once again. "I don't think that's a good idea, Ruby. It may not be as aggressive as other monsters, but it's still dangerous if provoked. Just as Glynda said, if someone does something to anger it, it won't stop until that someone is dead. Which could lead it back to a village, which it could easily destroy. And even if we did put up special obstacles or blockades as Glynda suggested, it might figure out how to circumvent them with its intelligence. We can't underestimate smart monsters like that." Ironwood told her.
"You make a good point, James, but I'm STILL adding Garangolm to Remnant. As you all have said about a half dozen times by now, this creature greatly benefits the environment. So, heck, with enough time, they might even be able to bring lands that have been made barren by the Grimm back to fertility." Katana told him.
"That would be a wonderful outcome. There's so many places that were once beautiful that have been ruined by the Grimm. I'd certainly like to see them beautiful again." Glynda agreed.
"As would I. And as Miss Penny said already, I believe Garangolm should be put on the protected species list, due to how important it is for the ecosystem." Ozpin declared.
"Besides, I just HAVE to add Garangolm! I'm already adding Lunagaron and Primordial Malzeno. I can't have the Three Lords without all three monsters! It'd be like owning a film trilogy without the third film!" Katana exclaimed.
"Right, exactly!" Ruby exclaimed, the rest of the immature cast nodding along with her.
"Perfect example! Nail on the head!" Jaune agreed.
"Yeah, if you don't have the full set then what's the point?" Roman added.
"At that point, you might as well not even own the other two, because without the third, they're meaningless." Coco concurred.
"What kind of logic is that?!" Weiss, Winter, Glynda, Summer and James all asked out loud at the same time.
"Ohhh! I can't wait! I need to start making plans for what I'm gonna plant in my garden when I get my own Garangolm! But the FIRST thing with need above ALL ELSE... the flashbang fruits!" Ruby declared, writing down her list, while everyone else sweatdropped.
"S-so, what's the next monster we'll be looking at?" Cinder asked, wanting to move on from her girlfriend's crazy, obsessive ideas.
"Oh, boy... Well, I'll be honest... The next monster stinks." Tekko told them.
"Tekko. That's not very nice to say to innocent wild animals that... MOSTLY just want to live peaceful lives." Glynda scolded her future student.
"No, she's being serious. It LITERALLY stinks." Razara elaborated.
"That's certainly correct, but there's A LOT more to Congalala than that." Katana told the group, before starting the next video.
