Chapter 13: F.I.G.H.T.

It was another sunny morning in Beverly Hills, Ron was walking down the sidewalk towards his new school. Yesterday had left him in a quite a good mood… thanks to spending a little bit of quality time with Sam, of all people.

The redheaded teen was pretty fun to hang out with, the girl having been more than pleasant to him. Talking with her… making jokes, even convincing her to try something from Bueno Nacho had been incredibly fun for Ron. Not only did Sam continue to remind him of Kim with her looks, she'd also revealed that she had the same temperament in general!

'Minus the whole fiasco in the beginning, when she was convinced I was some sort of criminal. But, then again, our first meeting wasn't exactly ideal.' It really made him wonder… would Kim have acted the same way, if some unknown person had knocked her out and then kept showing up during her missions?

Ron derailed the train of thought, it didn't really matter anymore. He was a part of their team now, all he needed to do was make sure to keep them safe. Maybe even try to get the girls to warm up to him a little bit, then Ron could finally reveal who he really was. 'Not a bad plan- unless Clover, or Jerry, decide to spill the beans…' They probably wouldn't, but he couldn't rule out the possibility.

Something caught Ron's attention, noticing a couple of his peers staring at someone. It wasn't him luckily, which was truly a nice change of pace. Being the center of attention was something he had gotten used to… a little too well for his tastes, considering everything lately.

Raven hair in her usual style, and in her casual clothes, Alex seemed to be having a chat with a girl Ron had never seen before. He wasn't known for his great memory, that's for sure… But even Ron would have remembered someone coming to school on a red bike while, wearing all red and sporting a vibrant red head of hair. Even Clover's CATSUIT wasn't this obnoxious!

Poor Alex seemed to be a tad nervous, the aforementioned redhead aiming her anger at his friend for some reason. She was actively growling at Alex, over something he must have missed.

Ron quickly walked over, moving past a few teens who were in his way. "Hey, Alex!" he greeted. Normally the blonde teen would have walked right on by, deliberately avoiding the chance of drawing attention to himself. But Ron was painfully aware of what it was like to be on the receiving end of a bully, he wouldn't wish that experience on some random student- let alone one who was his friend!

"Oh, hey Ron! M-morning!" the ravenette teen replied, smiling as soon as she spotted him. There was just SOMETHING about Ron that left her smiling, it probably really helped he was so cute. "Sorry about… you know, yesterday?" she tried to apologize, Ron quick to put his friend's mind at ease.

"Hey, it's cool. I mean… we did go over pretty much everything, so no worries!" Smirking back at her, he could practically feel the glare coming from the still-growling redhead.

Said woman suddenly cleared her throat loudly, both friends swiveling to look at her. Alex seemed to have completely forgotten her presence. "Do you mind? I'm kinda busy here…" the mysterious girl hissed in a threatening tone, her expression as hostile as her words.

At least, that's what Ron ASSUMED she was doing… Considering everything he'd had to deal with so far, she seemed as threatening as a small kitten to HIM. Now an angry SAM… now THAT was scary!

"Oh sorry, I didn't mean to cut you off like that, I'm Ron!" the blonde teen declared with a pleasant smile. She hadn't taken kindly to it, it seemed…

Her hand shot forward, offering him a handshake and a smile of her own. "Name's Donna…" she explained. She grabbed Ron's hand as soon as he offered it, squeezing his appendage as hard as she could. With her thick biker gloves, it should only take a moment before he was kneeling down and begging for her to let go. 'That'll show him!'

"Well… nice to meet you Donna, but we better head inside. The last thing I need is to end up with a bad attendance record here as well!" the blonde boy joked, turning his gaze to the ravenette next to him. "Remember when I told you about that, Alex?"

'Wait… what?' Donna yelped silently. She found herself staring quietly at the pair as they started talking, seemingly instantly forgetting her presence once more. 'But, why didn't he-' Her thoughts were cut off by the sound of the first bell, Donna collecting her things and rushing inside the building. She'd get her answers later…

X-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-X

A few hours later, their lunch break finally arrived. Ron was sitting at a free table that he'd managed to snag. It had been a pleasant day, as far as he was concerned. No messages from Jerry, nothing to spoil Ron's focus on his classes- or his thoughts concerning everything that'd happened so far.

It gave him time he desperately needed-

"There you are! And here I thought you'd have Alex, or Mandy, chasing you around…"

"Not sure I appreciate that little comment, Clover…" Ron answered back, noting that she was unaccompanied at the moment. "I'm surprised to see you all alone… did you want something?"

"I'm sure you'll get over it… and I just wanted to make sure that your cape was still intact" the blonde girl teased with a smirk.

"My cape?" Ron parroted, a bit confused by the randomness of her words.

"Yeah, we watched you swooping in to save Alex from that redheaded biker chick this morning" Clover elaborated, sitting down at the other end of the table. "Don't think we didn't notice…"

"I don't know WHAT you're talking about" the male spy shot back, glancing away.

Clover snorted in response. "Yeah… I bet you don't. I'm still amazed that you've managed to stay under the radar for so long… makes me question my own performance…" She took a bite of her food, glancing around for a second.

"What can I say… I'm just FULL of surprises" Ron commented while rolling his eyes, Clover giggling.

"I'm SURE you are… Who knows, maybe someday I'll even give you a chance to impress me…" She smiled and winked at him.

"Pass… very hard pass…" the blonde boy replied, waving his hand (and her 'offer') away. "I have enough to deal with as it is…"

"I know I'm SUPPOSED to act like I'm hurt at the casual way you dismissed me… but I'm just too amused to care…" She grinned one last time, before opening her makeup mirror and checking her appearance. "So, how did you even get into… our line of work?" she asked, Clover's voice indicating her curiosity.

"Who says I've EVER been… in your line of work before?" Ron replied, his tone indicating amusement, he noted her surprised expression.

"Are you telling me that I'm wrong?"

"Mmm… sort of? Not really? It's complicated…" the blonde boy admitted cryptically, he wasn't ready to share his history with anyone. Even IF talking with Clover was pretty relaxing, considering she already knew his secret identity.

"Well… it sounds like there's a story here, but I won't push… even if it sounds pretty interesting!" She winked at him once, noticing someone approaching the pair from the corner of her eye.

"Hey Clover! Ron!" greeted a smiling Sam, who was followed by a disheartened-looking Alex. Both girls were holding trays containing their chosen lunch.

"Hey, you two… Alex, you okay?" Ron greeted back, realizing the ravenette teen was looking a bit bothered by something.

"What? Oh! Y-yeah, I sure am!" The girl quickly smiled, waving him off like there was no issue.

"I'm surprised to see you two sitting together…" Sam commented, staring at the two blondes. "Don't tell me that she's into YOU now…"

"Please Sammy… you know that I only go after the HOTTEST of hotties…" Clover chided, glancing at Ron. "No offense…" she chirped, her smirk reappearing.

"None taken… I think that might be the best news I've heard all day!" the blonde boy replied, smirking back.

"Funny… Now seriously, what's the matter Alex?" Clover asked. She'd easily noticed that her usually-chipper friend and teammate was still looking pretty down… despite sitting with Ron at the same table.

"I've been having a SUPER stressful day… I just hope I don't see… HER again" the girl explained morosely, staring at her cheese pizza.

'Her?' Ron mused, his confused expression apparently enough to prompt Alex to continue.

"Yeah… you remember that Donna chick from this morning? I just keep running into her today… Like, during soccer practice a little while ago… The ball I kicked got deflected and hit her, while she was doing her nails on one of the benches…" Alex's hands shot up, covering her face. "…and there were a few more times after that too… She's been glaring at me ever since… waiting to grab me when I'm alone" she theorized.

"Ahh… cheer up, Alex! You can always ask Ron here to distract her- while you run away!" Clover exclaimed. "Plus, they're serving your favorite… soy cheese pizza! Cheer up!"

"Looks like you're having fun!" observed an edgy voice behind the ravenette spy.

Alex turned to spot her newest tormentor, looming over her form with arms crossed. She swallowed nervously, convinced that Donna wanted to kill her over what had happened.

"Relax… I'm not here for YOU this time, string bean…" Donna's glare moved, sliding over to Ron. "You…"

"Hey Donna! What's up?" Ron asked in between bites, missing her glare completely. "You want to join us?"

"I would- No, wait, I don't want to JOIN you!" the fake redhead growled angrily, walking over and grabbing Ron's arm. "You're coming with me for a little chat!" she declared, starting to pull him away.

Or, at least that was the plan… In reality, the blonde boy didn't move at all. If anything, Donna seemed to struggle to even barely move his arm. Ron stared at the girl for a few seconds… unsure of what to do. Should he go see what she wanted, or stay with the girls?

Suddenly he felt a small, very light tap on his leg. Ron glanced at Clover, the girl signaling him with her eyes to cooperate for the moment. "Okay Donna, just let me put this away…" the blonde boy capitulated, gesturing to his plate. He got up, moving to turn in his tray.

The fake redhead simply watched Ron with impatience, awaiting his return. The second he did she grabbed his arm, pulling Ron away from the cafeteria.

'So much for trying to keep a low profile…' Clover mused, still amazed that she'd never REALLY noticed him in the past. But, to be fair, he did refrain from even approaching most people- except Mandy, who was on vacation with her family at the moment.

"I hope she won't hurt him…" Alex whined, staring at the doors the pair had vanished through. She sounded slightly worried, as well as a little guilty for potentially putting him in a tough spot.

"I wouldn't worry about him too much…" Sam added confidently.

"How cold of you… and here I thought you were okay with him…" Clover interjected playfully, basking in her unique understanding of Ron.

"Why WOULDN'T I be okay with him? Ron's pretty cool… he even helped me out yesterday at the mall" the redheaded spy declared.

"What?!" Alex screeched, jarred out of her funk as soon as the news hit her. "When did you even have the time to do that?" she questioned, shocked to hear the news.

"Remember when you forgot about your team meeting and bailed on us yesterday?" Sam explained, quickly waving her friend's concern off. "We were sitting down to eat something, when this older guy just showed up-" Sam elaborated, telling her friends the story of what had happened.

'And despite being so close to him, for so long, they still haven't figured it out… He must have the most insane luck!' Clover marveled, listening to what had happened at the mall. All in all, it sounded like her friend was already starting to warm up to Ron.

X-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-X

Jerry had called Ron, just as soon as he'd finished with what Donna had wanted from him. It had been quite the surprise, as it was the last thing he would have expected.

A hidden door appeared in the wall, sucking the blonde teen inside and delivering Ron inside yet another of WHOOP's secret facilities. He was getting a bit tired of seeing a new place every single time he was summoned- and, by the look of things, that had only just begun… Exactly how many bases did this organization have?

Ron arrived at what looked like a kitchen, his new boss waiting for him with a plate in his hands.

"Sandwich?" Jerry offered, only to receive a shake of the head from the boy (as he'd just eaten). "I figured you wouldn't, but didn't want to seem rude… I'm glad to see you and the spies are getting on…"

"They ARE nice girls… and I'm not sure how I should feel about you checking up on us so regularly…" Ron commented, moving closer to the man. "So, what do you have for me?"

"Right, tell me… have you ever heard of a television show called F.I.G.H.T.?" Jerry asked, pointing at a screen that appeared behind him. It showed a few people dressed in medieval attire, holding axes and spears, looking rather intimidating.

"Fight? No… not really… I haven't had time to sit down and catch up on anything new lately… maybe I should ask for some time off…" the ex-sidekick joked.

"I'll be glad to give you a break, as soon as you return… By the way, it's F.I.G.H.T. Fear Intimidation Gladiator Habitat…" the older man explained.

"What's the T for?" Ron suddenly asked.

"The what?"

"The T, at the end? Fear Intimidation Gladiator Habitat… F.I.G.H… So, what about that T on the end?" the blonde teen asked. It wasn't anything important, but it was annoying him. "Is it there just to make the show's name look cooler? Couldn't they just add some extra word at the end? Like 'total', or 'terrain', or SOMETHING?"

Jerry simply stared at the blonde teen, then sighed. "Could we PLEASE get back on topic?" the older man begged, explaining Ron's newest mission. From what the blonde boy gathered, some athlete named Reggie Willis had completely vanished. He'd appeared, and lost, on the television show. He hadn't been seen since, along with a limited number of lower profile pros as well. WHOOP had already attempted getting in contact with the show… only to be stonewalled by their legal team. The lawyers had argued in favor of preserving the show's main plot point, being hosted on a deserted island for gladiators, and not breaking the immersion.

"So… do I need to become a contestant on the show, or something?" Ron finally asked, receiving a positive nod from the older man. "I figured as much… What about the girls? Are they also getting this assignment?"

"Yes, they are. But, you will arrive a bit later than them… and in a different manner as well. This is intended to make it seem like you have no connection to them at all… Hopefully, if any one of you is caught, the rest will still have the opportunity to find those missing athletes…" Jerry explained. The older gentleman handed the blonde teen a few toned-down gadgets, before revealing Ron's handle for the show.

"Ro Tca?" the blonde teen parroted, staring at his new boss with a raised eyebrow. "Seriously, Jerry?"

"I'm not the one who came up with that name… you did on your last mission…" the director of WHOOP pointed out, smiling at his own words. "Besides… think of it as an alias for your secret identity… If people find out you're "the Actor", they will associate that name with a face."

"No, I get that part… But, isn't that a bit on the nose? Like, EXACTLY what Tim Scam did?" the monkey master elaborated for good measure.

"It DID work for him…" Jerry smugly pointed out. "If you can think of a different code name, I'll accept it… But, for now, your name is Ro Tca."

A few minutes later, Ron had already been shipped off to a beautiful tropical island. Golden sand, along with palm trees that hid the massive forest beyond the beach. "Okay, I've heard about some TV shows being expensive to the point of being excessive… but, this is ridiculous!"

Ron didn't have to wait long, a red jeep driving in his direction and pulling over next to him. A young, extremely buff man looked him over. "So, you're one of the new contestants… what's your name?" the man asked in a gruff voice.

"R-Ro Tca…" the disguised blonde replied, trying to hide his dissatisfaction with his new name. As usual, Ron had disguised his hair color and style. He'd chosen to disguise himself as a redhead, straight strands of hair partly obscuring his face. It was incredible, how dissimilar one could look with a different hair color and style.

"Ro, huh? Nice name! Come on, I'll show you around!" the man offered, Ron entering the vehicle before the pair took off. The driver explained the theme of the show, showing the disguised blonde a few of the different areas of the island.

'This is nuts! How in the hell can they keep this place running?' There was a snowy, frozen area… as well as a desert, not to mention a forest that looked like an honest-to-God chunk of the Amazon. 'And I thought 'I' had the weirdest taste in shows…' At least Ron could take a little solace in that little observation.

Eventually the two arrived at a large compound, an open gate with 'Gladiator Studios' plastered over the entrance. Driving through it, they parked in front of a very large building that looked like it was made out of solid gold- or, at the very least, painted to look like that. With this show's budget, it seemed possible.

"Okay Ro, here we are! The Big House! Now, you better head inside and get dressed! The show starts up again in less than an hour!" his driver informed upon pulling over. "The boss man would have met us here, but he's busy with the other contestants that made it here before you did. Good luck, new blood!" the man shouted with a smirk.

Ron stepped out of a small dressing room, a few empty areas next to him that looked completely unused. From what Jerry had told him, the show always brought a few people at one time, as everyone had to face off against the different gladiators on the show.

The disguised blonde was wearing a blue bodysuit, with a black line starting from his shoulders and continuing onto his right side. The only skin that was exposed were his arms, legs, and head. Apparently, this was the show's uniform, all contestants needed to wear it when competing.

"NOW… LET'S MEET THE CONTESTENTS!" someone yelled at the top of his lungs into a microphone. The building shook, roars and yells following soon after.

A metal door opened upwards and Ron realized where he currently was, the strong lights of what looked like a stage almost blinding him. It was a very large concert hall, a bearded man dressed in a suit pointing at him and a few other people. The place was completely packed with people, everyone seemingly excited in an almost euphoric manner for what was to come. 'Are they THAT thirsty for some violence?' Ron questioned. Some people really had issues. There was entertainment… and then there was THIS.

"The lovely Sam! Alex! Clover… and our last contestant, Ro! They will all have to risk life and limb, to try and win… this!" The man bellowed, pointing towards a huge screen behind him. It showed a large, leather wrestling belt. It had a golden ring on it, with a golden fist in the middle. Red lightning emanated out of the fist, from the top and the bottom. "The fight belt!" he declared, the audience cheering even harder.

Ron glanced to his side, appraising the three other 'contestants' and quickly recognizing them. Funnily enough, even with the show providing them with their new uniforms, they had still received their normal colors. Was it luck, or had the girls gotten to choose their own?

They glanced his way for a moment, as if contemplating something (or, trying to recognize him). However, their attention was stolen… the presenter yelling once more.

"But first… they will have to make it past my highly trained, hand-picked, international gladiators!" the presenter shouted. "Now… are you ready?!" he prompted, the now-screaming crowd responding. "On your mark! Get set-"

Ron prepared to rush in the same direction as the girls, as soon as the event started. That would give them the best chance to stay safe and solve this missing person case as soon as possible.

"Release the wolfs!" the man exclaimed.

"Wait, what?!" Ron screeched, watching as two huge cages were lowered down in front of both him and the girls. He could clearly see several wolves snarling at him, teeth bared. "Oh no…"

The metal bars of the cages snapped open, the predators pouring out and rushing towards both him and the spies as well. Behind the contestants, two massive doors leading to different areas opened (indicating where they were supposed to go).

The girls had already started running away, screaming in panic. Their door closed after them, a pack of wolves chasing them down. 'I guess I better get moving…' Ron mused, rushing though his door with the rest of the vicious animals following him.

He found himself in a jungle environment, of all places. Trees and vines were all over the place, making it that much harder to keep moving quickly- but not for the wolves. 'For a show that's make-believe, this seems a tad bit excessive…' The blonde teen quickly clambered up a nearby tree, glancing down. The wolves were still trying to grab him, but with very little success, their aggression seemed to decrease somewhat.

"Okay, that was close…" The blonde teen glanced around a bit, watching the wolves now leaving in a hurry. 'Did they do their job by treeing me here? Was that their purpose? Did someone call them off?' It was unlikely, the animals had looked ready to devour him- disguise and all. Ron noticed something approaching his direction in a hurry, but not directly at him. The tree he was currently up was suddenly chopped down in one fell swoop, Ron jumping off in a hurry.

The boy landed on the ground, staring up at two massive-looking men dressed in armor and leather outfits. One was wielding a massive axe, the other a spear. Both weapons looked extremely sharp… and were very obviously pointed at him.

"So… you're the sorry sap chosen to be the first one down" one of them, the one holding the axe, declared. "You may as well start running, make it a little more interesting for the people watching… Or, you can just make our job a whole lot easier and stand still…" he growled, smirking menacingly at their fresh prey.

"The one chosen to be- I thought this was about if I could make it? I mean… aren't you going to give me a weapon at least? Some fighting chance?" the disguised Ron questioned, clearly confused by this whole situation.

"Nope, sorry kid…" the one holding the spear responded, moving closer. "Blame yourself, for looking so scrawny and bland. The viewers would much rather see a few girls running around, then some boy like you…" he declared, rushing forward with his spear pointed ahead.

"Whoa! You almost hit-" Ron never finished his sentence, the older (and much buffer) man pushing him back as he tried to stab the spy with his spear. The blonde teen was now sure, without a doubt, that if he was hit… he would be in some serious trouble.

"Nice knowing you, kid!" the man with the spear shouted, rushing towards him. Ron slid to the side at the last second, the disguised blonde's hand balling into a fist. He sent a punch at the attacking man's midriff, punching him. Not as hard as he could obviously… but enough to take him out of the fight.

Ron's attacker crumpled like a piece of paper, dropping his spear while he did so. His partner with the axe stared in shock and anger for a moment, before his expression morphed into a merciless smile. "Well… looks like you DO have something going for you after all… I wonder how long you'll last against someone stronger, who'll take this seriously…"

"Well, I wouldn't say that I have something going for me… I mean, people always forget that it's really just training" the male spy declared. He obviously could use his Mystical Monkey Power to solve this little issue. But there really was no need to, not for a threat like this.

"We'll see about that!" the man shouted, rushing forward with his axe aimed high. As soon as he reached his destination he changed the direction of his swing, just as his would-be victim started to move. 'Got you!' he crowed silently, the metal weapon sliding up in a menacing arc…

-only to stop completely, the blonde teen kicking the blade away and moving forward to grab the man's leather shirt. "Sorry about this…" Ron apologized, pulling the man over his shoulder and proceeding to slam him into the ground. The man's eyes rolled back in shock, his body going limp, the jungle falling eerily silent.

After a few seconds, the blonde teen noticed something silver and gray flying around a few feet away from him. Like a drone camera, or something similar. "Well, that's two of them… I wonder how many more I'll have to take down, before I get that belt…" Ron commented to himself, certain that there HAD to be cameras and microphones around him. It wouldn't be a bad idea to make them truly believe he was just a skillful contestant, goading everyone to focus on him… rather than the girls.

At least it would take a bit of the heat away from them- he hoped…

X-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-X

Vince King, their presenter (and the one responsible for F.I.G.H.T.), stared in anger and frustration at a huge screen showing that scrawny kid that had recently been accepted onto his show. It was one of those decisions, he'd only allowed the addition of the boy to get things really started for this episode.

Just let his Gladiators have a little fun with the runt, before finishing him off and showing Vince's audience just how brutal his show was. Letting them know that, for as much violence as they required, he would provide.

The kid didn't look like an athlete, not even someone who worked out (like the rest of the people he had on his 'staff'). He looked fit, yes… but not enough to be able to take two of his gladiators out so quickly and easily! His hand reached into his inner coat pocket, pulling out a small phone.

"I want you to find out about that kid… and send someone to get those idiots up and moving again" he hissed into the device, watching that girl named Alex managing to get away from two of his men. "That includes the girls as well…" No one would come on HIS show and make him look like a fool! "I want them all taken care of… and make it look good!" He closed the device, moving away from the screen.

The people wanted to see violence and blood… and he was going to DELIVER.
