######.
The house was probably painted white, but it was so dark out it looked grey. Or maybe it was just really dirty. The windows ranged from squares to rectangles with curving tops and the paint was peeling. The house was oddly constructed with a round balcony maybe, on one side of the second story and a curved overhang on the other side. It looked like a wreck of a house and yet there were lights on in various rooms in the house. Someone lived here. The door groaned as it was dragged open and Dawn grinned in delight when she saw who answered the door.
Obviously it was Halloween and this was a haunted house. So cool!
"Can I help you?" The giant of a man asked.
"Hi! My name is Dawn and I'm kinda lost. My family will be looking for me and I was wondering if maybe I could come in out of the dark? Your house is so neat! Kinda spooky and so fun."
"Why yes, you can and thank you so much for the compliment. My wife, Lily, works really hard to keep it in such good shape. I'm Herman, by the way, Herman Munster." He waved a big hand, motioning her into the house.
"You're a Frankenstein, aren't you?" Dawn asked. "And a really cute and adorable one."
"Why, thank you." Herman smiled, delighted at the compliment. "Not many people would recognize that fact."
"Than they're blind or they don't know anything about Frankenstein's, which is really sad, because Frankensteins are just amazing. My sister has a friend who was nearly made a Frankenstein herself because she had an old boyfriend who was one. But than he burned up in a fire."
"Oh, that's too bad." Herman sympathized. "What did she do then?"
"Well, she was a cheerleader -."
Herman shuddered. "Now that is scary!" He admitted, a peppy cheerleader, ooh! "Well, come meet my family, how long do you think it will take your family to find you?"
"Oh, not long, Xander can track me anywhere." Dawn said confidently, following the gentle giant Frankenstein.
"Ah, I sometimes get lost myself." Herman admitted. "Grandpa can track me down using the equipment in his lab. Grandpa being my wife's father, Count Vladimer Dracula. He knows a lot about both Magic and science."
"Dracula, as in vampire Dracula?" Dawn asked. "That Dracula?"
"Yes, that Dracula." Herman nodded his massive head. "You've heard of him?"
"I've got friends that do Magic, that's how Xander will find me is with Magic and I know all about vampires too. My sister's dated one." Probably wouldn't hurt to admit that, Dawn thought, it's not like they'd know he was a real vampire. Or maybe they would since they knew about Magic.
"Ah, my wife is a vampire as well, they make such fun dates." Herman loved talking about his beautiful wife.
"Well, duh," Dawn nodded. "Family tradition, right? I bet Grandpa had a great old place like this too." Family haunted houses for Halloween, neat, she thought.
"He did actually, back in the old country." Herman agreed. "Lily, dear, we have company." He introduced Dawn and explained about her being lost.
"I love your dress." Dawn said sincerely. "It looks like something from another century, which is perfect since you're a vampire and all. I was just telling Mr. Munster that my sister dated a vampire. He called himself Angel and he was ancient, like over 200, I think."
"Why, thank you, dear. I must admit I'm quite fond of this dress, I was wearing it when Herman and I met."
"She looked so lovely in the moonlight." Herman bent nearly in half to kiss Lily's cheek. Dawn loved how they were staying in character even if the haunted house wasn't open right now, this was actually a fun portal mishap.
"I think your house is amazing!" Dawn couldn't help but gush again. "It would be great if Mom let us make our house look like this. The spiderwebs really make it work."
"Oh, thank you, it can take hours to make them just right." Lily admitted and was very appreciative of the child noticing her attention to keeping her house as perfect as possible. A howling sound had the girl glancing up.
"Oh! A werewolf too?! You've got everything!"
"Yes, our son, Eddie." Lily, like any mother who loved her child, was always happy to discuss him. "It's full moon night and he's feeling a little rambunctious."
"My sister's friend, Willow, is a werewolf and her mate, Oz, his family are werewolves too. I can't wait until they have babies, they'll be so cute!"
"Oh, I so agree." Lily nodded. "It might be a mother's prerogative, but I feel Eddie truly is adorable, especially when he's wolfing."
An old man with white hair wandered in. "A guest? No one told me we had a guest." He complained.
"Hi, I'm Dawn. I'm just waiting for my family to find me, I got a little lost. You're Dracula, right? It's so cool, you look just like I imagine a Dracula should look in this house."
"Thank you." He bent over her hand and playfully made to bite her wrist.
"Now, now, none of that." Lily tapped her father's hand and he smiled charmingly at Dawn and let her hand go.
"I don't mind." Dawn told her. "He's just having fun. Is there anyone else here?"
"Just our niece, Marilyn." Herman admitted, looking uncomfortable. Dawn wondered what was wrong and than she saw a beautiful young woman enter the room and understood, she wasn't participating in the haunted house and really stood out.
"Oh, doesn't really fit in, in that outfit, does she?" Dawn said, disappointed and wondering why she wouldn't want to go along with the fun of this crazy haunted house.
"I'm afraid not." Herman confessed. "Marilyn has an unfortunate condition."
'Yeah.' Dawn thought, as a portal opened up and she saw her family. 'probably all teenagery and thinks it's lame or something.'
"That's my family, they've found me, thanks for letting me in and you guys are just amazing." Dawn was waved off by the Munsters as she stepped through the portal and excitedly began chatting about her visit as her mother fussed over her eye.
