SUMMONING A HERO

Somewhere in an unknown land, a lone boy awoke from his slumber wondering where he was at the moment.

This is Ren Amamiya, a Japanese American third-year student.

He has a spiky black hairstyle, dark eyes, and facial features. He has softer eyes, a kind demeanor, and a lighter-pale skin complexion. He is dressed in a school uniform with a white long-sleeve jacket and pants. His jacket uniform was open wearing a white long-sleeve hoodie under his jacket and had on a pair of black and white high-top sneakers.

Ren looked at his surroundings and found himself lying down in a wheat field. It looked to be some kind of farmer's field. Surrounded by wheat, Ren felt as though the place was familiar to him. Up above him were dark clouds covering the skies with light penetrating through that shade. It had a warm and comfortable feeling here that Ren would lie down there if there was a mountain of hay somewhere.

Sadly, there was not.

In the middle of that field, Ren noticed there lay some kind of banner adorned with fleur-de-lis symbols. It had a spear-point at its tip. The color was dominantly white with golden edges. The cloth ends in a V-shape, going outwards.

The black-haired boy didn't know why but It was as though the flag was calling out to him to draw the teen closer to touch it. To hold it. To raise it. To rally others behind it.

When Ren's fingers touched the flag, his mind was immediately flooded with a tidal wave of images. The images were rushed in Ren's mind and he could only make sense of a few things. A battle. A series of battles. Metal clashing against metal, screaming men and horses, and the rhythm of cannon fire. All of them had one thing in common though, Ren could see the flag being waved. Soldiers, he assumed, were being rallied around it and pushed forward against another group of enemies.

Then, there was a fire all around Ren and he tried to get away but could not. The flames continued to burn all around to scorch him alive, but before he knew the flames surrounding him quickly vanished as Ren was standing in the middle of a massive battlefield with swords, spears, arrows, and any other outdated weapon from centuries back while the blue sky was perfectly cleared with some clouds around.

Ren immediately took a look around before catching sight of someone standing atop a nearby hill while holding the banner he touched earlier.

The figure was a young woman who looked to be in her late teens, with long golden-blonde hair while the rest was pulled back into a braided ponytail that fell down her back. Her eyes were a gentle amethyst color and against her slightly pale skin, they seemed like actual gemstones. She was dressed in a black attire that seemed fit for a person of noble descent and had the appearance of a knight as her forearms and lower half of her torso were covered in pristine silver armor, while the armor that was on her arms more than likely reached up to her shoulders only to be covered by a black colored shawl that covered her upper chest and shoulders. The neck was protected by ornate silver armor as well that was connected by chains to another similar yet slightly smaller piece that rested on her bust. The top of her head was covered by a similarly designed headpiece that ended with small tassels. Her armor covered her lower torso, arms, and legs. She herself was thin and trim like an athlete, but held the beauty and grace of a model. On her hip was a silver sword that had images of more ivy wrapped around the hilt and was resting in a black sheath that was decorated with silver, if one included the hilt of the blade itself. She was also wearing a long dark purple skirt as black stockings that hugged her legs up to her thighs while wearing black boots that were covered with silver armor. Even more, was the familiar flag spear in her right hand.

Ren gazed up at the young Knight woman on the hill with wide eyes expression as only word come to his mind at that very moment he saw her.

Beautiful.

An organic beauty, capable of creating such dulcet curves. But also her sharp, like a blade, movements as the subtlety of skillful work suggests that this she is already just a work of art.

A one single flower, which will never wither.

That was all Ren could think of as he was captivated by the girl standing in front of him, looking into the distance of the battlefield while her armor gleamed like polished silver, and the iconic banner was held firmly in her hand as the flag was waving freely in the wind.

Her beauty is just so mind-blowing that Ren would call it just a miracle. She's perfectly sculpted down to the smallest detail that he can't take his eyes off her. She's beyond sharp and strong, which overshadows the most famous girl he's seen in his entire life as she is more beautiful than any paintings, sapphires, diamonds, or a precious dream.

While Ren looked smitten by the appearance of the woman on the hill, her gaze shifted downward as she noticed the boy standing there looking at her.

Dark grey eyes met pure colored amethyst that made Ren stand frozen in place. A gaze that had him completely stun-locked. Her eyes were filled with such boundless determination complemented with genuine kindness that he was effectively entranced by then. But the other parts of her being saw to it that the entrancement wouldn't last.

The blonde woman looked at Ren with a gentle smile that made his heart flutter before speaking something from her mouth but Ren could not hear what she was saying. Then, the girl reached out her free towards him, and Ren not knowing what else to do but ran up the hill to where she was standing.

Once Ren reached the top of the hill he looked towards the young Knight woman waiting for his arrival and outstretched hand as she was still smiling at him before hesitantly taking her hand with his left one. She seemed happy about the gesture and moved her mouth again as the boy couldn't still hear her words clearly before suddenly everything around them began to fade away with something pulling the two hands apart.

Ren gasped in surprise at what was happening before reaching out to the girl once more, while they were getting farther and farther apart. As everything faded into white, the best that he could grasp was the banner. He held it tight as he tried to reach out to the girl. As everything around him ceased to be, Ren kept his hand stretched.

Tokonai Junior High- Afternoon

Ren's eyes shot open and jolted up from his desk as he awoke from his dream, gasping for breath. The boy looked around and saw he was in the middle of the classroom during their free period as the other students were talking with each other in their usual group or some decided to be alone, before calming down, with him glancing down at his desk and began thinking about the dream he had just experienced.

Ren Amamiya was just your typical average third-year Junior High school student.

The world Ren lived in wasn't exactly normal to say the least as over two hundred years ago, in Qing Qing City, China, a luminescent baby was born with a unique power. Then, as time passed, similar phenomena happened all over the world, and soon the world became a superhuman society with about 80% of the population possessing some uncanny ability called Quirks. The streets look like scenes from comic books, cities swirled with chaos and confusion, and a new profession dominated the collective consciousness. It was an age of heroes.

But it wasn't something the boy was interested in as he was a part of the 20% of the world's population that were born without superpowers.

People like him were referred to as the Quirkless.

Despite being one of the few unlucky ones in the world, Ren was pretty happy with his current life as it is.

He lives alone in a two-story house that can fit over multiple people all at once with both his parents being famous archaeologists who travel the world to study artifacts and ancient civilizations to get a better understanding of historical societies. They trusted him alone. Because of that they never really home and Ren doesn't seem that much expected on holidays and when their world is done, but it's not like he was angry with his parents.

The boy understood that his parent's work was important and didn't resent them for not being home all the time, as they both would be sure to call him or send him the amount of money to leave off and other things on their travels.

If he were to name a hobby, it would probably be Kendo and Martial Arts. He started learning them both when he was six years old and attended a nearby dojo in his neighborhood, but after a few years, he soon found that I wasn't able to learn anything new so after his second year of middle, focusing more on self-training.

Today went like any other day for the black-haired boy. He got up from his bed at around 5 in the morning for some morning exercises before taking a quick shower. After getting changed and eating breakfast, he went to school like normal.

He doesn't have many friends because of his quirklessness, but it's not like he really cared either way since he was your typical loner. Not only that he didn't really care for the fact he wasn't born with any superpowers or the way people mocked him for it. Ren had gotten over the fact he was quirkless a long time ago and didn't care about quirkless discrimination anymore, as he knew it was just the words of idiots who had nothing better to do than to put others down to make themselves feel better about their own sad lives.

"Weird dream..." Ren mutters to himself, as he leans back against his chair. "Just what in the world was that all about?" He asked while rubbing his head as his thoughts drifted back to the girl he encountered in his dream.

Her stunning blonde hair, dashing black garment, fabulous armor, well-defined figure, and well-toned physique, coupled with the aura of calm and authority that she radiated made her every bit of the legendary figure he had envisioned during the dream and more.

No matter how much he looks at her, it leaves a lasting impression. Her beauty was one that scarcely felt real, and to be in her presence was a privilege that he felt undeserving as this was comfort and warmth, filled with sincerity.

Even if the number of good things in this world is like stars in the sky, It doesn't make sense, if it's not her. She simply has no replacement and her appearance cannot be measured.

Ren didn't notice it but he was blushing at the thought of the girl in his dream as he had nearly felt this way about anyone from the opposite sex before until the bell rang, as it was telling everyone that the free period had ended and classes were starting again and broke Ren out of his thoughts.

"Well, whatever... It was a nice dream at least." Ren thought with a sigh as it was only just a dream and would never encounter a woman like that in real life. "But still, I wish I got her name." He thought before the teacher walked into the classroom.

The whole day had passed on like normal after that and the bell had rung signalling the end of the school day. The teacher leaves and everyone starts packing their items including Ren who left school immediately as he had other to today without delay.

Musutafu Streets- Afternoon

After leaving through the school gates, Ren headed towards the town center and made his way to the nearest bank to withdraw some money for grocery shopping as he was running low on food.

Luckily the boy's parents opened up his own bank account and would send him money through it to live off when their not around.

As Ren walked through the street with his hands in his pocket and passed a crowd of people going about their day like him, he saw a few of the local heroes were out and about on patrol.

The crime rate in that area, and thus the chance to see a hero in action, was higher than where Ren lived. Not that anywhere was really crime-free, especially not since the dawn of quirks, but there were certainly places where it was more common, and places, where there were valuables to steal – such as jewelers –, were more tempting targets to would-be thieves.

Not that Ren cared as it wasn't any of his business since he had no desire with any of that hero vs villains nonsense.

It didn't take Ren long to get to the bank he normally uses and when inside to saw that there were only a few people inside, before walked over to one of the empty booths and stood patiently to wait for one of the bank tellers to show up.

While Ren was waiting for someone to come, his arms were crossed with his eyes closed as he was deep in thought about what he was planning to buy for dinner that day. So after a few minutes passed, one of the bank tellers approached the empty booth and sat down there to help the quirkless.

"Hello, sir. Can I help you?" The bank teller spoke politely, displaying a kind smile to the young boy.

"Yes, I would like to withdraw some money today," Ren replied back with an even tone.

"Do you have a bank account with us?" The bank teller asked with a professional tone.

"I do, sir," Ren said bringing out his credit card and telling him the number to his bank account before handing it to the bank teller behind the booth.

"Alright, then please wait a moment for me to verify the information first." The bank teller spoke politely before taking the credit card and taking a minute to check the information on their computers.

The sound of typing on the computer could be heard, confirming all the answers Ren had just given to the account number. Then the personal information on his bank account showed up on the computer, which let the teller know this boy was the rightful owner of this account.

"I see, mister Amamiya then... Just how much money do you want to withdraw from your account today?" The bank teller asked the middle school student.

"60 thousand yen, please," Ren answered politely back.

"Then please wait a moment sir for me to retrieve your money." The bank teller said before going in the back of the room to pull out Ren's money from a safe and after counting it, the bank teller returned with the money in hand and a sheet of paper for him to sign. "Here you go sir, 60 thousand yen. Now please sign here to confirm the withdrawal." He said handing the boy a paper to sign.

Ren took the paper and grabbed a nearby pen to sign his name on it to finish the withdrawal, before handing it back to the bank teller. Once he confirmed the boy's names on the sheet of paper, the bank teller gave Ren the money he asked for and his credit card back with him putting it away in his wallet.

"Alright, here you go, Mr. Amamiya. I do hope you enjoy the rest of your day." The bank teller said with a smile.

"Thank you, sir," Ren said giving a light nod back, as he turned away from the booth and headed out the front door.

When Ren was out of the bank and got the money he needed for food shopping, his next destination was the supermarkets in the Tatooin Shopping District as there were plenty of stores there.

Musutafu Streets Tatooin Shopping District- Afternoon

Meanwhile, it didn't take too long for Ren to reach the shopping district with passing by crowds of people enjoying their day while was looking around to find the store to shop at.

"Okay, now that I got the money. It's time for the real deal." Ren said looking around to find a supermarket with the best deals and prices.

As Ren continued walking down the path, he heard some sort of commotion down ahead at a nearby alleyway he was passing by, which promptly made him head to screaming to take a look. When he finally got close enough to the main source of the commotion, he stopped behind a corner of the alleyway to see what it was and witnessed a group of thugs wearing black vests ganging up on a poor black-haired woman.

She is a young woman with straight, dark-colored hair that reaches just above her shoulders. She has large, navy blue eyes, usually seen tearing up due to her easily-distressed personality. She is wearing a white blouse, a tan jacket, a long, ankle-length green skirt with a belt, and heeled work shoes.

Her name is Komari Ikoma, a school teacher at Masegaki Primary School.

Ren quickly hid behind the wall next to the alley as it looked like they hadn't noticed him yet, while listening to the conversation before immediately recognizing who these guys were.

"Fuck... These guys are from the Eighth." Ren thought with concern.

From what Ren heard about these guys, the Eighth clan is a brutal street gang that did whatever they wanted, whether it be murder or theft, and they held Musutafu as its territory.

Hell, even the heroes and police have a hard time dealing with these guys.

Ren can easily recognize one of their members by the uniform they wear which is a black vest with the number 8 on the back.

But to think that this lady managed to catch their attention was bad luck on her part.

"Some great bod you got there lady... it will be a shame if we got rid of you. So here's the thing, I want you to do as we say and nobody gets hurt and everyone goes home happy." One of the Eighth members said with a sick grin while holding Komari at knifepoint.

"J-Just let me go! P-Please, I have students to teach…" Komari pleaded, tears running down her face.

"Oh, no! We aren't letting you go until we are done with you!" Another Eighth member grinned sadistically, hearing the woman's begging.

"Your students can wait!" A third Eighth member said while laughing.

The quirkless boy then frowned after hearing the conversation. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. He looked around to see if there were any heroes around and sadly there wasn't a single one in sight.

"Guess I will take matters into my own hands. Even if I don't have a quirk, I can at least save a life from being ruined for eternity. This something I can't just turn a blind eye to." Ren thought with narrow eyes, as he had heard enough of watching these scumbags harassing this lady.

He may not care about being a hero but he'll be damn if he lets idiots like them do as they please to innocent people without facing the consequences of their actions.

With a hardened expression while gritting his teeth, Ren finally balled up both his hands into fists, and clenched them tightly, before making his move on the thugs.

Komari Ikoma was tired.

All she wanted to do was to go home.

She was just a woman who wanted to teach kids how to be better people. She couldn't remember a time when she had a state of peace.

How could she call herself a role model for her students? She couldn't even handle herself in a situation like this. Feeling sorry for herself was a character attribute she has always carried with her since she became a teacher.

Early today, she had a difficult class at Masegaki Primary School due to the rude antics of her class, her class having "problem children" as she called them. Ignoring her instructions, calling her names behind her back, and having to apologize for their rowdy behavior daily. It's been stressful for her, to the point where she nearly broke into tears in front of them.

After her class ended, thank God for that, she left the faculty and just wanted to go home for a drink to forget about the trials and tribulations she faced at work.

Beer was the only thing that kept her mentality sane and was her favorite thing at the moment. Due to the slow traffic for her taxi to come, she decided to take the subway to go to the nearest bar in her location. It's just unfortunate that her train took too long to arrive and was forced to ride in another one heading for Tatooin Shopping District.

To make matters worse, the train was packed with people and wasn't able to grab a seat in time. Before a businessman came and pushed her out she could get a chance to sit.

It was an uncomfortable experience on her part with people breathing behind her back, and shoulders squeezing her body due to the lack of space in the train. Once she thought it was all over from there, things were only beginning.

After leaving the train and dropping her off, she walked out of the subway, hoping just to go home and pick up a beverage on her way there.

She seemed to have an unwanted follower pursuing her. Komari noticed as she began to walk faster, hoping she could cut the mysterious lurker by walking in a different direction from where she was originally going.

Taking a shortcut in the alleyway in Tatooin Shopping District, she continued to speed-walk as the footsteps behind her grew louder, her heartbeat increasing to the loud sounds behind her.

Right, when she was beginning to leave the alleyway, finally having a sense of relief, she felt her arm being grabbed suddenly as adrenaline in her veins alerted her sense of composure. Her back was roughly pushed onto the dark, cold, dirty wall of the building.

Several men dressed in clothing that made them look like a bunch of Eighth clan hoodlums, as one of them held the woman with a maddening grin underneath his stubble hair. He had a breath that reeked of alcohol so this man might have had more than enough beverages for himself.

"Please let me go! Please!" Komari screamed while shaving the man away from her and tried making a run for it.

"You talk too much!" A nearby Eighth thug shouted while kicking her against the wall, making her screech in pain from the blow. "Now then. It's time for some fun." He stated that he and his boys were good to have fun with her.

Komari looked up in fear while her eyes began to water underneath due to being held prisoner by a group of thugs.

She was hoping for someone to come to her aid.

The man she shaved approached her with a grin as he was about to grab her. "That wasn't a very nice lady. Now I'll have to make you pay for th-OOOFFT!" He then was cut off by someone slamming their foot on his face, before crashing on the ground and being knocked unconscious.

Both Komari and the other Eighth clan members were caught off guard at the sudden appearance of a middle school boy when he kicked the man in the jaw hard enough to knock him down.

"Ken!" An Eighth thug yelled out in surprise at their unconscious friend getting knocked out so easily by a kid.

Then without warning Ren towards another one of the thugs at a fast pace and appears in front of them with his fist ready to strike.

"A kid?! What the hell-K-KYAAAAA!" The second Eighth thug shouted in shock before getting punched in the face and then an uppercut to his chin that sent him flying back toward his buddies.

"Kane!" One of the Eighth thugs shouted to see another one of them out cold before his angry gaze shifted over to Ren. "That's does it! Get this little shit!" He said with them all charging at the boy.

Komari gasped in shock and her eyes widened as she observed what was happening. Ren was beating up the group of thugs as he made his way to the first Eighth thug coming at him to subdue the boy with his metal pipe, but Ren kicked the man in the groin hard enough to drop him to the ground with a silent scream of agony. From behind, a second thug managed to seize both of the boy's arms, but he simply stomped on the man's foot and then elbowed him in the gut to break free before he turned around and punched him in the nose.

"Why you little...!" A third Eighth thug said having enough of this nonsense, before turning his hands into claws thanks to his quirk and running at the brat.

The third thug swung his at the black-haired boy, only to encounter a trash can which hit him in the face as Ren threw it at him before he could hit him. As the Eighth clan grunt with claws was stunned by the blunt object, Ren then kicked him in the stomach hard, slamming him into a dumpster hard enough to render him unconscious.

"You little bastard!" A random Eighth thug shouted in rage to see his boys getting beaten by a punk kid, but the response he got from the teen was a nasty intimidating scowl without words which startled him a bit. "D-Don't think you can pick a fight with the Eighth clan and walk out of this alive!"

Soon more guys began to enter the brawl with two of them bringing out guns, ready to shoot down the boy. When the first thug raised his gun, Ren immediately ran towards him, slipping past the other thugs like a Pro football player and then swiftly kicking the gun out of his hand, surprising him before Ren's opponent grabbed his shirt and threw him at the second gun man before he had the chance to fire. Then a guy holding a baseball bat ran to face the middle school head-on before swinging the weapon at his face, but Ren just crouched and swiped his leg, causing the thug to hit the ground head first, knocking him out upon contact.

After making short work of this guy, Ren moved his sight to another Eighth clan thug whose fists were on fire as he started wildly throwing him about to punches at the kid. But Ren was about to dodge each blow without problem thanks to his years of martial arts training before launching a swift punch in the man's guts and knee jab to the chin causing him to fall to the ground. Then one of the thugs came at Ren from behind to bush his skull with a brick that caused the teen to counterstrike with a back kick to the stomach, and then side kicks the man, sending him to a pile of trash. Another guy got behind him once more and was about to punch Ren in the back of the head, but he ducked underneath his punch before grabbing the thug's arm and wrist to judo and throwing him to the ground so hard that it back his back. But before the teen could know it he saw one of the guys trying to kick him in the head, only to narrowly dodge it in time and return two punches at the guy's face, knocking a few of his teeth out and sending him to the ground.

Once he was done, Ren turned over to his right side as there was only one thug left as he really took care of the others, while the last thug looked both shocked and angry at Ren for taking down so many of his buddies all alone.

"You son of a bitch!" The last Eighth clan member cried out before turning his right arm into rocks and recklessly charging at the boy in blinding rage.

As the thug approached him, Ren in response saw a broken TV in a nearby pile of trash before rushing over to the device and tossing it at the criminal. With a smirk, the last Eighth clan member swung his rocky arm at the television and easily destroying but he didn't expect what happened next Ren was already in front of him before he knew it. After he swung his rocky arm at the television, Ren suddenly ran at him and leaped high enough to grab the thug by his head to deliver a painful knee jab to the face that broke his nose, and blood flew everywhere while falling back on the ground before passing out.

In the end, every single one of the Eighth clan thugs had been taken down single-handedly by a middle schooler boy, as Komari stood there speechless and stunned after watching the whole scene. She just couldn't believe it with the female teacher looked at him as if he was some kind of monster.

"Just because I'm quirkless doesn't mean I can't hold my own against those with powers," Ren commented while letting out a deep breath after all that fighting, as his years of training were starting to pay off.

Then his eyes moved over to a dumbstruck Komari, who looked two steps away from passing out.

"Are you alright, miss?" Ren called out to the teacher, as it broke the woman out of her thoughts while being surprised to hear a voice speak in concern towards her. "Are you okay?"

"Yea… yeah, I'm… fine," Komari spoke out of worry, wiping her tears away before Ren walked up to the teacher and offered a hand up.

She looked at the teen's hand for a moment before grabbing onto it as he pulled her up from the ground.

"That's good. You are really lucky I passed by just now or who knows what would have happened to you." Ren said getting a surprised look from Komari at the boy's concern.

He really was worried for her?

"Anyway, it's not safe to stay here any longer," Ren seriously said to her. "Let's get going before these guys wake or worse-"

"Hey, you two!" An angry shout made both Ren and Komari turn around to see a new group of Eighth clan members entering the alley and didn't look too happy either. "Just what the hell did you do to our boys?!" Someone asked in a fit of rage as they saw their friends lying on the ground beaten up and passed out cold.

"Their friends might show up... shit..." Ren said finishing his sentence with a frown as this was something he wanted to avoid, while Komari started to panic again at the new group of Eighth clan thugs appearances. But before they could make the first move, Ren immediately grabbed the female teacher's hand which made her gasp from the surprise, and then made a mad dash out of the alley with Komari. "Run for it!" He shouted while running away from the Eighth members.

"After them! Don't let those two escape!" An Eighth thug leading the group ordered the others, as they ran after the kid and woman. "And one of you call the boss! He needs to know about this!"

Like dogs were nipping at his heels, the quirkless teen moved as fast as he could while taking along the female school teacher away from the Eighth clan chasing them down around the city. Even after returning back to the main streets full of people, Ren and Komari kept running, ignoring the looks from the pedestrians scattered around who didn't know what had happened and were evading anyone who looked suspicious as It seemed that the Eighth clan called up more of their guys for backup.

Despite having no idea where they were running to and the gang of thugs hot on their tails, it was the only thing they could do now. His legs never stopped pumping despite his tiredness from the fighting and his hand refused to let the woman behind him go.

"Damn, this just got more complicated." Ren thought seriously while running with Komari as he didn't expect his day to go like this. "But still, we can't keep this up forever. Gotta find some help before they catch up to us." He thought searching for any hero or law enforcement that could help them right now.

Komari on the other hand was lost in her thoughts concerning the ongoing situation. She was confused, scared, and grateful for the situation before her. Part of her had no idea why this mysterious boy had suddenly come out of nowhere with the intention of helping her. However, part of her heart was also very grateful to this young man since he beat up the thugs and saved her from an unknown fate. But she knew from where it was going, it wouldn't have ended pretty for her. And this boy prevented that from happening.

Now they were for their lives from the friends of those thugs, as the boy grabbed her and dragged her away from them. The two have been running for who knows how long and avoid more of those thug's buddies as she has never run this fast or long before in her life and was reaching her limit soon.

After having been running for a few minutes, Komari suddenly stopped and collapsed on her knees before huffing and puffing with Ren looking down at the tried woman.

"Hey, what's wrong?!" Ren asked in concern.

"P-Please, s-stop..." Komari muttered tiredly while breathing heavily and sweat on her face. "I-I'm to tried t-to keep g-going."

"Huh?" Ren's eyes widened a bit from her request. "We can't stop now. If they catch up to us then we're both done for." He reminded her.

"I-I know that but... I c-can't keep running l-like this..." Komari said with a tired voice while trying to get her breathing under control.

Ren looked at her with a worrisome expression as he could tell that Komari was about to reach her limit and that the longer they stood around here, the more likely those guys would catch them.

Well, Ren is confident in his fighting skills, he knows he can't take on an entire gang of villains without coming out of it unscathed, especially with Komari here.

"Damnit, guess I got no choice," Ren said before quickly pulling out his phone and calling the authorities for help. "Come on... Pick up..." He said impatiently with the phone to his ear.

"I find them! They're over there!" Someone shouted which made the two turn to see a lot of angry Eighth clan guys running down the street in their direction.

"Oh, no! They found us!" Komari screamed in fright at the group of thugs heading their way.

"Crap..." Ren cursed at their rotten luck, then frantically looked around for an escape route before noticing a multi-story parking lot not too far in the distance. "This way!" He said grabbing back onto Komari's hand and picking up from the ground as they ran towards the multi-story parking lot.

"After them! Don't let them get away!"

"Stop running already!

"You're only making this harder on yourself!"

As Ren and Komari ran into the multi-story parking lot they heard multiple angry voices and the sound of dozens of footsteps following behind them with the authorities finally picking up on his phone.

"Finally!" Ren said as he was glad someone finally answered his call. "Hello... Yes... we need help right away..."

Meanwhile, Inside the multi-story parking lot, a peck of at least 50 pissed-off Eighth clan members were claiming every inch of the parking lot to search for Ren and Komari to make them pay for assaulting their friends.

"Stop hiding like crowds and come out already!"

"When I get my hands on them they're dead!"

"Let's kick that brat's ass and have fun with the woman!"

"Those two are hiding around here somewhere! Find them or else the boss will have all our heads!"

While the Eighth clan was looking high and low for their targets, Ren and Komari were crouching down on the floor and hiding between two cars to make sure they weren't found by the criminals.

As soon as they got into the parking lot, Komari looked terror-struck at the position they were in at the thought of the thugs finding them while doing her best to not cry and remain quiet.

Why did she have to take that shortcut through the alley?

Ren on the other hand reported to the police about him and Komari being attacked and told them their location as they were standing someone over to save them.

"I see. Thank you." Ren said before hanging up the call as he put away his phone and glanced over to the black-haired woman distance. "I just got done talking to the police and they've sending some of their people to our location to help us. We just have to hold out until they arrive and take care of these guys." He whispered to her so as to not reveal their hiding spot to the Eighth clan.

"Oh, thank goodness," Komari said while letting out a sigh of relief with her shoulder slumped down to know that help was coming.

Then the grown woman's emotions started to get the better of her again, as tears began to form from her eyes.

"I-I'm so sorry for g-getting you involved in t-this..." Komari said sobbing to the middle boy who was saved not too long ago and regretting dragging him into her mess. "B-Because of me, w-we might... we might..." She tried to say with tears running down her face before Ren placed his hand over her mouth to stop her from talking any further.

"Don't apologize for something I decide to do," Ren said to her softly but with a serious expression. "Besides, this was my choice and I don't regret it. So instead of feeling sorry for yourself, just focus on staying alive until help arrives." He finished before removing his hand from her mouth, while Komari quietly took his words to heart.

"Okay, right," Komari said before cleaning the tears from her face, as she managed to calm herself down a bit thanks to him. "So what should we do now?" The teacher asked him as she saw the boy peeping his head out from their hiding spot.

"We need to keep moving or else they'll find us," Ren said as he spotted a few Eighth clan goons searching around the floor they were on, as it looked like they hadn't found them just yet. "There's not a lot of places for us to hide in this place and who knows how long it will take for the cops to get here. So are best bet is to keep moving and stay out of sight until help arrives." He suggested before looking back at the woman. "Stay close to me and don't make a sound no matter what." He told her before quietly moving away from the spot they were hiding in.

"Okay," Komari said with a nod of agreement to his plan and followed right behind him.

As the two moved through the parking lot, they silently slipped past and hid a few Eighth clan thugs without them noticing them as the duo made theirs to the upper floor, where there were fewer thugs there. When they began to travel upwards to the building, Komari accidentally tripped over a greasy spot on the floor and let out a pretty loud screech, causing a noise to echo throughout the floor of the parking lot, catching the attention of every presently there.

"Uh oh..." Ren thought in horror at the woman's unfortunate bad luck with the thugs spotted them.

"I find them! There over here in the third level!" One of the Eighth clan thugs shouted loud enough for every single person in the multi-story parking lot to hear.

"Damn! We have to get outta here now! Hurry!" Ren yelled while offering his hand to help her stand.

"Y-Yes!" Komari complied as she grabbed his hand and fled to the upper floor of the parking lot with the Eighth clan chasing after them.

As they kept running like there was no tomorrow, the thug's voices could be heard getting closer from behind them with the two making it to the top floor of the building as there was nowhere for them to run before stopping in place.

"We reach the top floor but I don't see anywhere else for us to run." Ren thought with a worrisome expression as they were trapped now before an army of thugs finally showed up on the top floor.

"They're here!" Komari cried out while screaming in terror.

"Move!" Ren shouted while pulling her over to a nearby wall with her standing right behind him, as the group of thugs surrounded them from all sides except their backs.

"Nowhere left to run now kid!" One of the Eighth clan thugs said to them.

"Yeah, you gave our boys a good beating. Now it's time for us to return the favor!" A second Eighth clan member said while cracking his knuckles.

Surround by a sea of two-bit thugs, Ren glared heavily at all the thugs around them while putting up a fighting stance and sweating nervously at being outnumbered by so many Eighth clan guys, as Komari trembled in fear with teary eyes at the number of thugs before them and could only imagine the horror things they were going to do.

"Hey remember what the boss said, you morons. He doesn't want us to do anything to them until he gets here." Someone said to the other, which got Ren's attention for a moment.

"Their boss?" Ren muttered to himself as this group has a leader.

"Move out way! The boss has arrived!" One of the Eighth clan thugs shouted which made the group go silent and cleared a path for their leader to walk through towards Ren and Komari.

The two civilians watched as a man with medium-length hair that was tied into dreads. He wore the Eighth clan uniform consisting of a white sleeveless shirt, a black vest with the number 8 on the back, and jeans.

His name is Wang, the leader of the Eighth clan.

"Well look what we have here..." Wang said as he walked up and stared down the two people who got his boys so worked up. "I didn't expect a little punk and a damn woman would beat up on my man so easily. It's almost embarrassing and interesting at the same time." He said with a psychopath grin on his face.

Seeing Wang's twisted facial expression made Komari take a step back with her back hitting the wall of the building, and Ren gave him a nasty glare.

"Whoa, scary," Wang said in a joking manner to the kid's expression. "I just knew it when I heard the news from my men that you would be fun to play with." He said licking his lips with a psychopathic expression, before looking back at his boys. "What do you guys think?! Why don't we teach these two a lesson about messing with the Eighth clan!"

The other Eighth clan member let out a rallying cry of excitement and anticipation to beat down the two who had the guts to disrespect their name.

Meanwhile, Ren was surprisingly silent during the whole exchange with his bangs covering his eyes and hands clenched into fists. Wang then walked up closer to Ren and stood in his personal space with him grinning madly at the quiet boy.

"What's the matter, kid? Too scared to say something now, huh? I would be too, after you picked a fight with the wrong guys. I mean what kinda of idiot would be dumb enough to fight us? Are you stupid or just mentally damaged or something?" Wang said smugly insulted in the boy's face as the whole gang laughed at their boss's joke, while Ren remained silent. "Well, it doesn't matter either way in the end. Now you're gonna pay just because you decided to play hero! No one hurt one of my boys and got away with-" Then the leader of the gang's speech was cut off by a sucker punch to the face by the middle schooler that send him flying backward a few feet away toward the floor.

Witnessing this unexpected move made every person look dumbstruck at Ren whose right fist was stretched out, as his face was livid with rage at the man's words and attitude.

He was unusual? All of them were acting like he didn't know that already better than anyone. Like his actions today offended these punks.

At this point, he didn't care anymore. If the boy was going to go down, he might as well go down while putting up one hell of fighting first.

This is him.

This is the person he was.

As long as he could fight, as long as he's come out on top, he'll keep living his life by his own rules and no one else's. So what does it matter if he was quirkless and alone?

Then Ren wasted no time on taking off his school bag and sprinting at the first thug in his sight as this broke them out of their shock state and now they were completely enraged at the middle schooler for his blatant disrespect towards their leader.

"The hell you think you're doing kid?!" An Eighth clan thug yelled in rage before throwing a punch at the little punk for hitting their boss.

But Ren ducks under the punch before jumping up high to the left knee and jabbing the man in the chin, which knocks him back, and then uses the same leg to leap off of the man's chest to soar in the air over the group of thugs that made them look surprised. As Ren flew in the air he spun his body to perform a whirlwind kick at a second Eighth clan thug's head in mid-air before landing back on the ground and skidding backward, then ran at his third foe who charged towards him as well before Ren quickly landed a solid kick in his gut and left punch to the face that send the Eighth clan member tumbling back in pain.

Then Ren turned around to see a fourth thug coming at him with a kick, only for him to leap back in time to dodge the kick but then another Eighth clan thug approached him from behind as he jumped backward. But Ren immediately turned the table on them by bending down to avoid the Eighth clan's punch before quickly shifting him back upwards to throw him over his shoulder and at the Eighth clan thug that tried to kick him earlier, which made the two men collapse to the ground. Soon after more guys come at Ren with him dodging someone swinging a baseball bat at him by rolling forward on the ground, but another Eighth clan thug charges at the boy on the floor before launching a kick at him that Ren quickly dodges as he leans over to the right while standing back up, then throw a hard left punch in his right rib that made him howl out in pain and dropping to the floor.

The black-haired boy then proceeded to leap over the Eighth clan thug's body to his next two targets and spin kicks the both of them to the floor in a slip second, as he didn't stop from there to a thug rushing at him in the face while ducking under his attack, then move on to the next man behind him with Ren throwing a few punches to break through the guy's defenses before taking him out like the rest. Then Ren stroke with a back kick at the person charging at him from behind to push the thug back as another thug tried to grab him from his front side, only for Ren to use his left to stop him before flipping the Eighth clan thug over to deliver a crash punch to the gut that flooded the man.

When Ren was done with his next enemy, a new Eighth clan thug jumped at him with a flying kick but the quirkless boy saw coming before swiftly moving out of the way and getting behind the thug, then performed a flying whirlwind kick to his foe that sent him skidding across the ground of the parking lot as the Eighth clan members only looked in shock and surprise at one kid take down most of their guy with only a few blows.

Ren got back into his fighting stance as he could see there were still a good number of these guys left, as he prepared himself for the next wave of Eighth clan goons coming at him from all directions.

The first thug swung his fist at Ren but immediately got countered with a right uppercut to the chin, then the boy raised his forearms to block a kick aimed for him before grabbing the second Eighth clan thug's leg and punching him in the left jaw knocking him right into the person behind him for a double hit. Ren then saw a third thug right next to his left side and spun around to hit him in the face with a back left-hand strike, before leading his body slightly backward to dodge another thug's punch and quickly grab a hold of the man's left arm to deliver two punches in his face. Then after that, a fifth Eighth clan thug tried to hit Ren from behind with a metal pipe, only for the teen to duck under the strike in time and counter striking him in the back with a solid punch and finishing it up with a left kick to the side rib, right after evading a sixth Eighth clan thugs attack and chopping them in the throat that made them collapse while holding their throat in pain before moving on to the seventh Eighth clan thugs who throw a few blows at Ren but the quirkless boy made quick work of him with two hits to the face. A seventh thug sneaked up behind the middle schooler and grabbed him from the waist down as Ren elbow jabbed the man in the face twice to release his hold before quickly turning around to deliver a punch to his face, when Ren saw an eighth Eighth clan thug approaching him with a weapon in hand and threw a swift kick to take them out, then moved over to his right side to spin kick a ninth Eighth clan thug in the chest before ramming into a tenth thug coming at him from behind and taking them out as he moved on to another opponent.

The next saw the boy heading towards him and started throwing punches at him with Ren avoiding each hit before the teen grab onto the man's jacket to pull him in for a crashing head butt, which broke his nose in the process and floored the poor bastard. Ren quickly ran on to the next man on his left side and threw a right punch in his face that sent him back before moving out of the way from more thugs attacking from around him, then roundhouse kicked one of them away before running towards another to strike them hard in the stomach with a right punch and making him drop to the ground.

There was a brief pause from the fighting for a moment at thugs wondering how one brat was giving them this much trouble, with some of the Eighth clan gang members hesitant to attack the boy while some were recovering from the kid's blows.

"Come on... Is this all you idiots got!" Ren insulted the thugs around him before going back to beating their asses until help came.

"Damn, for a little shit, he's pretty good..." A random Eighth clan member in the back said in irritation as he watched the others get taken down so quickly.

Then his eyes caught Komari who was just standing there watching everything unfold with a scared expression, while the brat left her defenseless.

Seeing this golden opportunity made an evil smirk appear on the Eighth clan thug's face before approaching the school teacher.

At the same time, Ren was busy taking down another guy who kicked away a thug's weapon out of his hand and punched him in the face as he slid on the ground, before hearing the scream of a woman's voice.

"Let go of me!" Komari's voice made Ren pause for a moment and turn around to see she was being held by one of the Eighth clan guys, and holding a knife to her throat.

"Damn..." Ren cursed out loud in frustration while at the thug who had a sick look on his face.

"Over here, little punk! You see this right here! I got the woman you were trying to save." The man growled lowly and menacingly, as Komari was scrying even more in terror. "Try anything else again, and I'll cut this bitches throat open!" He spat while having the upper hand, as he knew the boy wouldn't try anything with him having a hostage.

But so he thought as the man's eyes wide in surprise at Ren immediately rushed toward them while maneuvering past the other Eighth clan thugs with ease, before piledriving a foot to the guy's skull that released the hold the man had on Komari and sent him flying backward to a nearby car with the knife down on the floor.

"You good?" Ren asked in concern, helping that he didn't hurt her.

"Y-Yes..." Komari replied while nodding her head frantically after another near-death experience in her life.

"Tch, damn crowds. Resulting in taking hostages now. And here I thought they couldn't get any lower." Ren said in utter disgust and annoyance.

Meanwhile from behind the two, one the thug appeared behind them with a teleportation quirk to punch at Ren.

But Ren saw this coming before reacting quickly enough in a non-second to swiftly perform a roundhouse kick into the Eighth clan thug's right cheek and send him face-first into a car before passing out.

"You guys are way too predictable," Ren stated out loud as Komari looked startled by the unexpected attack from the man. "I can read you all like an open book." He said before his gaze shifted back to the other Eighth clan thugs, who looked weary to attack the boy after seeing his fighting skills up close.

"What are you idiots standing around for?!" Wang shouted as he recovered from that sucker punch while holding his hurting face as he looked exhilarated, despite getting punched, with the others looking at him. "Quit gawking like a bunch of dumbasses and kill this kid already!" He ordered them.

That seemed to have done the trick as the Eighth clan thugs started to charge at Ren and Komari while letting out enraged battle cries as Ren punched, kicked, and dodged each thug that approached them with quickly executing strikes and protecting Komari from danger before stopping a man's kick by catching his leg then threw him over to the side, before throwing an uppercut at Eighth clan thug jumping at him and roundhouse kick a thug coming at him from the back with the gang members getting flooded by one kid.

"Damn it. I can't protect her and fight them off." Ren thought with a frustrated face before taking a step back, while watching the Eighth clan members he knocked down standing back on their feet and recovering. "Wait, why am I even protecting her? Doing something for another person sake never benefit me in the end." He suddenly thought of just now why he was going this far for something else, while Komari stood behind him and looked scared out of her mind at the boy protecting her.

Then more Eighth clan goons rushed forward as Ren kicked one on the left in the gut before kicking another Eighth clan thug on his right to the other side, then the Eighth clan thug swung his bokken at Ren's head, but he grabbed the weapons off the ground and kicked him in the stomach, sending the thug a few feet away from him. Ren blocks another weapon strike from one of the Eighth clan thug's attacks and hits him on his wrist, causing him to drop his weapon in pain as he gets hit in the forehead by the bottom of the hilt.

But as Ren was busy taking care of three more Eighth clan thugs with multiple roundhouse kicks, one of the thugs on the ground cut Ren's left ankle deep with a packed knife, making the boy grit his teeth in pain for the cut with the wound leaking blood.

"Shit!" Ren mentality cursed before kicking away the thug on the ground roughly. "I got careless and didn't notice that one on the floor is still conscious." He thought a reckless mistake before the corner of his eye caught someone charging at him, which was Wang with his fist back and glowing brightly.

"You're mine now, kid!" Wang shouted before jumping at the boy with a crazy smile on his face.

"Now you see? That's why I don't bother with other people." Ren thought with widened eyes before taking a leap back from the man's punch and back hitting against a wall, as the ground floor broke apart from the focus of the punch and created a big hole in the bottom floor of the building. "Such strength... You most got a quirk that boosts your physical abilities." He assumes to be the leader of the thugs.

"We'll aren't you a smart one? You're right on the money kid." The gang leader said with a wide grin appearing across his face. "My quirk is called Strength Enhancement. With this I will put you out of your misery, now it's time for my entertainment!" He excitedly declared before running at the boy.

Then Ren was met with sudden barrages of enhanced punches which he couldn't even counter or dodge that well due to his bad leg making Ren scream in pain as a result while the other villains were laughing. But still, there were no signs of Pro heroes arriving yet. As a final blow, he was given a strike to his right cheek which sent him flying back into a car that created a big den on the vehicle.

"Argh!" Ren let out a painful scream leading his back against the car.

"Oh, no!" Komari panicky rushed over to the boy's side and kneeled to his level to see if he was okay. "Are you alright?!"

"I think so..." Ren said wincing from pain, as he was near hit that hard before. "That actually hurt... This guy is stronger than I thought, but still, I refuse to give up!" He tried to stand but couldn't.

"What? Done already?" Wang said mockingly as he stood a few feet away from them with his boys right behind him, as they looked at the two with sadistic grins. "And it was just getting fun too." He said looking a bit disappointed.

"Please just let us go!" Komari pleaded for their lives, as she held the boy who's been helping her. "You don't have to do this!"

"No can do lady. Not after all the trouble you two put us through." Wang said with a chuckle before saying something else. "Before you die, at least I can give you some words of advice that would be useful after you have been reborn. The strong always rule over the weak and the weak bow down to the strong. This has been the rule of society, especially after quirks came onto this planet." He said to them.

"That's where you're wrong... that rule doesn't make sense, it's a stupid rule that you guys made up just to show your authority," Ren argued back with a glare.

"Huh? What was that you just said kid?" Wang said in confusion at the kid's words.

"You heard me..." Ren said while slowly regaining his footing. "People like you guys who use your power as an excuse to bully the weak and helpless..." He said while thinking back to all the time he and others were put down by people like him. "People like you and your stupid gang make me sick to my stomach! I just can't stand worms like you!" He said pointing at the Eighth clan, who only looked enraged by the boy's words.

But then Wang threw a gut punch in Ren's stomach that knocked the wind out of him and made the boy cough up his own blood, before getting kicked back to the ground.

"That was a nice speech kid, but too bad it doesn't amount to much except pissing me off," Wang said while watching the little punk holding his hurting stomach and gasping for air. "But don't worry, since I'm a nice guy I'll make this quick!" He said about to punch the teen to death.

"No stop!" Komari said while rushing over at the gang leader and preventing him from killing the boy, only to get smacked away by Wang's backhand. "Guh!" She yelled while falling back next to Ren and led there on the ground in pain.

"Wait your turn woman!" Wang screamed at her with Ren sitting up against a wall and was unable to do anything but watch in frustration. "Now where we're we." He said as his attention went back to the middle school.

"Seriously, what am I doing here?" Ren mentality asked himself as his expression changed to a look of apprehensiveness. "What am I hoping for?" He looked up at the gang leader slowly walking toward him.

Then as Ren's whole life started to flash before him in that moment, his mind thought of that knight girl from her dreams and how she looked so strong.

If she was here then she could beat this guy for him.

"Mas...er..." An unknown feminine voice spoke through Ren's mind, as the boy's eyes widened in surprise unfamiliar voice.

"Who said that?" Ren thought as he quickly looked around to see no one there except for him, Komari, and the Eighth clan.

"You weren't half bad kid, and pretty decent in a brawl." The gang leader said with a cocky grin, as he raised his enhanced fist above him. "You definitely would have made a great addict to the Eighth clan, but better luck in the next life. Now die!" He declared before bringing his glowing fist at the kid's face with Ren shutting his eyes and waiting for death.

"I not ready to die yet." Ren thought in horror at his approaching death.

As time seemed to slow and the certainty that he was going to die, Ren suddenly groaned as he felt a sharp pain in his left hand, causing him to clutch his left hand tightly due to the burning sensation in it all of a sudden before cry out in agony, as this made Wang stop his fist from a few inches from hitting the boy and taking a few steps back in confusion.

"Hey, what the deal with you over there kid?" Wang asked with a raised eyebrow as the kid was behaving strangely now, as this confused the hell out not just him but everyone there.

But Ren didn't reply as a mysterious red symbol appeared on the back of his left hand without warning and started to glow a brilliant crimson light that illuminated the multi-story parking lot floor, while everyone there shielded their eyes from the bright light, forcing Wang and the Eighth clan to step back from the black-haired teen.

The symbol on his hand showed four wings, three diamonds, and a sort of circular shape as it glowed red.

"What the hell is this light?!" One of the Eighth clan thugs yelled out.

"Did he use his quirk?!" Another Eighth clan member asked in confusion.

"What is this brat doing?" Wang asked with his face covered from the brightness of the light and being dumbstruck at what the boy was doing, along with everyone else.

"Too bright!" Komari commented while looking away with the light hurting her eyes.

Ren felt a burning pain in his left hand but at the same time, it felt like something new awakened inside of him. But when the burning pain in his hand stopped and the red light stopped glowing, a new even brighter light erupted on the floor as a golden explosion of energy suddenly erupted between them, engulfing every person there and shrieking into the sky, creating a spire of gold that blow the rooftop of the building apart and piercing high into the starry heavens above, as massive pillar of golden light that can be seen by nearly every single person in the city.

"What the hell is happening over there?!" Courses through all the heroes in the vicinity as they start rushing towards the location.

The police station starts getting a massive amount of phone calls, commenting about a giant golden pillar of light that just appeared!

Meanwhile, back at the multi-story parking lot, the golden light kicked up a gust of strong wind, and nearby cars began to flip over to the side or upside down. The spire of energy was so potent instantly that it blew away all the Eighth clan members to the farthest part of the parking lot, including Wang despite him using his quirk.

"Agh! What the fuck!" Wang says while being pushed back by the powerful light.

Ren and Komari were blown back against the wall, covering their faces from light and gust of strong wind, completely unharmed despite the bright light in front of them, as Komari was crying in terror and launched herself onto the boy's side gasping for questions and answers in her head.

Slowly it died down, shrinking down before fizzling out into wisps of gold, fading away into nothing. Once it died down, the first person to recover from the ordeal was Ren who removed his arms from his face while opening back up his eyes before the quirkless teen was treated with a sight that stunned him.

Then the next person to recover was Komari with the woman slowly opened her eyes the moment the light disappeared, as the poor woman's heart couldn't handle any more of this stressful day before her eyes landed on something standing amongst the wisps that made her wide eyes while gasping too.

Wang and his gang were finally to regain their senses and froze in places at its unexpected turn of events, as even Wang didn't see this one coming either.

Standing before the group in the parsley-destroyed parking lot was a young woman wearing a Knight-like dress that fluttered in the wind, the chains attached to her choker jingling. The silver metal of her gauntlets and armor reflected the golden wisps around her, giving her an almost ethereal glow, the light too reflected by the sword sheathed at her hip; intricate and clearly of the best quality, and most of all the spear in her right hand which had a flag attached to it waved freely in the breeze that symbolizes something important.

Every person presently there was stunned in utter silence and gazed upon the blonde-haired Knight woman in awestruck, as she was emerging a powerful aura of absolute authority that matched her suit of armor, the rather ornate but intimidating sword attached on her waist and flag-spear in her hand, and the eyes which revealed much experience in the ways of war, this woman looked like an angel.

The word fate is the right word for today. A Life-changing encounter that adds sparks to your future and will change your ordinary everyday life. It will surely take you to much higher heights. A precious time, filled with excitement and joy, awaits you.

And for Ren Amamiya's case, his eyes widened as he recognized the blonde hair on the girl in front of him while she stood between him and Komari, and the entire Eighth clan protectively like a knight from story books.

Now finally making her epic appearance in front of everyone, the first thing the woman in question did was turn around and then look towards Ren, before he was struck by how angelic she looked.

There was no mistaking that beautiful face as Ren finally got to meet the girl from his dream. Even with a serious look on her face, she looked cute, before she began to speak something out to only him alone.

"I am Jeanne d'Arc, a Ruler-class Servant. I am really glad to have finally met you." The Ruler-class Servant said to the quirkless teenager in a voice that held a touch of warmth and grace. "I ask you, are you to be my Master?" She asked him.
