Smurfocalypse Chapter 24: A Fool's Paradise Part 1
It had been maybe a day or two after the tournament which welcomed new recruits to the Knights of the Smurf Table and in the conjoined villages things were always interesting. It was nearly time for the harvest which would supply food for the Smurfs to last them through the winter. There still hasn't been an attack since they arrived and some Smurfs were getting a bit too comfortable. Papa Smurf was beginning to feel uneasy about the possibility that their actions would involve and therefore endanger Uncle Smurf's Smurfs. Uncle Smurf and Papa Smurf had been hard at work since Papa Smurf's arrival, desperately trying to make sense of what was happening to their world based off all that they have learned so far. Accompanying them was Handy Smurf and Hefty Smurf who had been eye witnesses to the strange phenomenon regarding the Anti Smurf and his plans. They were in Uncle Smurf's hut and were gathered around a table talking amongst themselves. Mostly informing and explaining to Uncle Smurf step by step what they had gone through and what had happened as the opportunity to do so just simply hadn't surfaced up to this point. Outside the hut peering in the window was Brainy and he was not amused with the fact he was not included in such an important discussion.
"I don't get it Clumsy… What makes them so special all of the sudden?" Brainy says.
"I reckon it has something to do with those demon things that keep poppin up." Clumsy says.
"I should be in there Clumsy because I know everything about those things." Brainy says.
"Ya do?" Clumsy asks.
"Of course I do its obvious they were sent here by that evil wizard Balthazar because Jokey blew up Gargamel." Brainy says.
"Well Gee Brainy those things came before Jokey did that though." Clumsy says.
"Oh I know that… Everybody knows that, but didn't you notice it got worse since Jokey blew up Gargamel? Don't you find that a bit strange?" Brainy says.
"Uhh.. Your right Brainy." Clumsy says.
"Well of course I'm right. There you see? I know just as much if not more than any other Smurf. So why wont Papa Smurf let me in? He's been so weird lately and he's treating me a lot differently." Brainy says.
"This is hard for all of us Brainy… Youv'e gotta give Papa Smurf some time to figure all this out… It's the only way he will be able to make everything better." Clumsy says.
"Right… Papa Smurf will definitely make things better, but I still think he needs my help." Brainy says.
"Well Gosh Brainy… There has to be some other Smurf who needs your help." Clumsy says.
At that moment every Smurf in the area just started saying no or shaking their heads.
"Sigh.. I'm going home for a bit. See you later Clumsy." Brainy says as heads down the dirt street to his hut
Falconer walked up next and looked to Clumsy and then to Brainy sulking down the street. Zarus was on his arm and its eyes looking right at Clumsy.
"Hey there you ar- uh… Hey whats the matter with whats his face? Nerdy Smurf or whatever…" Falconer says.
"You mean Brainy? I think he's upset because Papa Smurf wont let him inside." Clumsy says.
"Hmm.. well ain't that a shame.. Anywho I'm supposed to let you know you've been scheduled for tonight's night watch. Gutsy's orders… Might want to get some sleep I heard its not fun." Falconer said.
"Right, ok thanks Falconer." Clumsy says.
"You got it." Falconer says as he walks off.
Inside the hut
"Listen Papa Smurf… It's not safe here… Its not safe anywhere. Please try to be reasonable with us. The others are beginning to settle down and let their guard down. We have to consider the situation from all possible angles." Hefty says.
"No! Absolutely not! I will not have my little Smurfs carrying those horrible crimes against nature." Papa Smurf says.
"Regardless they are as of now standard issue… Every one of my knights WILL be carrying a loaded Smurfgun and they will also know how to use it… I've seen and done horrible things and if these weapons can save lives I will use them to my advantage." Hefty says.
"Listen to yourselves for a moment will you? You two want to give EVERY Smurf in the village a Smurfgun. Where will you find such resources? The mine is sealed off and I wouldn't unseal it if you pointed one of those infernal things to my face." Uncle Smurf says.
Hefty slams his fist onto to the table and stands up.
"How dare you!? Are you suggesting I would do such a thing?!" Hefty yells.
"You and your little band of heathens are corrupting the Smurf race with your acts of violence and your human weapons and your fire sticks. Whats worse is you've not only corrupted your own kind, but you dare come into MY village and do the same to MY Smurfs after all I've done for you! Did you ever think that those things came after you BECAUSE of your violence? BECAUSE instead of reasoning and using peace you instead chose to kill them?" Uncle Smurf said.
"You cannot reason with these things Uncle! Don't be fooled by their trickery! These are not creatures of the earth… They have only one goal and that is to hurt us. If we don't adapt… We are all going to die." Handy says.
"No Smurf dies! Not in my village… Now Papa Smurf and I came up with an idea… We are going to use our combined magic to strengthen the cloak veil around the village.. Nobody and nothing will be able to find us… We are going to be just fine here. However while in my village you will follow my rules… and I don't want weapons out in public. You may carry them if you wish, but the fire sticks will not be loaded and the swords will remain in their sheath at all times." Uncle says.
"Wasn't that Smurfy of him Hefty? I do believe Uncle Smurf here has come to a compromise in your favor." Papa Smurf says.
"I am grateful for this… Thanks Uncle Smurf." Hefty says.
"Oh its no problem Hefty… We are Smurfs after all not Humans or a pack of animals… we can reason with each other very easily." Uncle Smurf says.
"Just one more issue we would like to discuss while we are reasoning with one another." Handy says.
"What is it Handy?" Papa Smurf asks.
"About Jokey's Redbox… We all agree it is largely effective in clearing debris in large quantities. The materials needed to make the Redbox are easy to find as well. Scientist Smurf agrees we should keep some of these Redboxes in the event of emergencies, but they are however very dangerous. We would request your permission to allow Scientist Smurf to store a small supply in his lab." Handy says.
"I trust Scientist Smurf… and I will agree you two know what you're doing… it's that Smurfy Jokey Smurf I'm concerned about. You just keep an eye on him I don't want to end up with a village full of holes." Uncle says.
"We'll just have him make them in the lab" Handy says.
"I think that's a Smurfy idea." Papa Smurf says.
