Smurfocalypse chapter 25: The False Smurf

Time passed on, and autumn was in full fledge. The Smurfs were busy preparing for winter and harvesting the crops. There was a pretty serious food shortage obviously as there were a lot more Smurfs in the village now, and meetings and debates were set concerning the issue resulting in strict rationing of resources. The village was put into lockdown after the harvest, and every Smurf was forced to stay within the borders of the village putting Smurfs that work outside the village out of employment. There hadn't been an attack or any sight of enemies and that caused Smurfs to relax and let their guard down just as Hefty had feared. The knights were in charge of making sure Smurfs honored the rule to not leave the village, no Smurf came in and no Smurf came out. Despite all that was wrong in the world today was a special day, for today was the day of the festival celebrating the harvest. The village was appropriately decorated and every Smurf was relaxing and enjoying the day. Little did they know that today would by far be the worst day of their lives. An old enemy would be returning all too soon.

-in the mountains not too far from the village-

"I'm almost certain that location there is where those miserable Smurfs are." Balthazar said as he dismounted a black dragon.

"I have the perfect weapon for destroying them all in one swoop. I just need to find them, and that's where my little trick comes into play." Balthazar said.

Back at the village the festival was going on, and even Hefty was enjoying himself. One Smurf was missing from the village. Modest Smurf, a Smurf from Uncle Smurf's village who had been missing for several weeks was nowhere to be seen even now. All efforts to find him were in vain. Balthazar had found the Smurf first and had him killed before planting a parasite in his body that would be able to tell Balthazar where the village is. His little spy was coming up the mountainside already.

"The village is in fact just down the mountainside from here. They are using magic to conceal themselves. Today is the day of a festival and I'd be willing to bet their guards are down." The false Smurf said.

"Then now is the perfect time to strike!" Balthazar said as he approached his dragon mount.

"Fire!" He commanded.

The dragon launched three fire balls straight for the village. Meanwhile in the village the festivities were still in full fledge.

"Papa Smurf! What is that!?" Brainy asked as he stared at the approaching fire balls with horror.

Papa Smurf had only a short time to look before Hefty tackled him to the ground shielding him with his fully armored body.

"We're under attack! Get down!" Hefty warned.

A few seconds later the fire balls collided with the village, hitting the ground and exploding. Smurfs were hit by the fire and their bodies disintegrated leaving only scorch marks where they one stood, it was currently impossible to tell who had all had died. After the fireballs collided and destroyed the village Hefty stood amongst the chaos. In just a few seconds what had taken them months to build was destroyed. The burning and burnt bodies of the dead surrounded them, and the survivors had foolishly scattered into the nearby woods where untold dangers could possibly await. Papa Smurf could only stand and watch in a daze as everything went to hell around him.

"Papa Smurf! Papa Smurf snap out of it!" Hefty said.

"Papa Smurf we have to go, now!" Brainy said.

"We have to get everyone together, and find a safe place!" Hefty said as he drew his sword.

"This is great! They're all running for the woods. They'll all die in there the woods are full of those creatures." Balthazar said as he laughed.

For good measure he had the dragon fire a stream of flame down onto the burning village and then he flew off leaving the scene. Hefty and Brainy managed to get Papa Smurf to safety away from the burning village, but was the nearby forest safe and would they be able to get everyone together again?
