Smurfocalypse Chapter 33: The False Smurf Part 2
Clockwork had exited the gate and began his journey to King Gerard's castle, but unfortunately he was spotted by the possessed Modest Smurf who had come down from the mountains and was looking for survivors. The sight of Clockwork leaving the port town was proof enough that Balthazar had not killed all the Smurfs. He casually walked up to the gate once it was clear and began kicking on the gate.
"Hello!? Is anyone there!?" Modest screamed.
The Smurf's meeting was interrupted by the sounds of screaming and banging on the gate and Hefty narrowed his eyes suspiciously.
"Who could that be?" Hefty asked.
"Sounds like Modest." Archer said.
"Could he have survived and got left behind somehow?" Falconer asked.
"Well, let him in!" Reporter said.
Hefty and Timber both opened the gate together each one pushing on a section to open it and Modest walked right in like he owned the place.
"Falconer! Archer! Boy am I glad to see I'm not the only one who made it out." Modest said.
"Where were you all this time? We thought something had happened to you." Falconer said.
"Honestly, I was in the mines when Uncle decided to seal them and got trapped. I made it out when the barricade got burned up." Modest said.
"Well it's good to have you back! We were just making plans for building a new village we could really use your skills." Archer said
"How about we explore that library Papa Smurf?" Brainy asked.
"Well I suppose we have nothing better to do at the moment, and I would like to have something new to read. I suppose it'd be ok." Papa Smurf said.
"Books? I like books! Can I come?" Modest asked.
"Sure you can. Any of you can if you want." Papa Smurf said.
None of the Smurfs took him up on this offer though and so Brainy, Modest, and Papa Smurf all three went down the cobblestone street to the library which was located just a few doors down. The Library was a one story structure, but it was still big to a Smurf. Brainy leaped up and grabbed the doorknob to open it so they could get inside. Inside was a collection of various books and tomes as was to be expected. There were several shelves where a Smurf could lose himself.
"The books are probably in alphabetical order…" Papa Smurf said.
"So most of the cook books will be under C. I'm going to Smurf a couple for Chef." Brainy said as he walked off leaving Papa Smurf alone with this rotten imposter Smurf.
"So what sort of books do you like to read Modest?" Papa Smurf asked.
"All kinds I just like to read stories." Modest said as he wandered off into the aisles.
Papa Smurf was rather interested in seeing things such as old tomes, things that were written when he was younger and that would perhaps provide him with even more knowledge. Papa Smurf began to walk into the aisles of books and looked around looking for the really old stuff. The Stuff so old it had dust and yellowing pages. He found a nice thick magic book and blew the dust off the cover before quickly leafing through the pages to find something that he had perhaps not read before. He was fairly distracted and focusing on the tome in his hands that he hadn't even noticed Modest coming up behind him. Before Papa Smurf could react Modest grabbed him and put a hand over his mouth before stabbing him in the abdomen with a kitchen knife. Papa Smurf's eyes widened as he had realized he had been stabbed, but was unable to do much about it as he was being held by this much younger stronger Smurf. Modest laughed manically as he stabbed him a couple more times in the abdomen and then ran off leaving Papa Smurf unconscious and bleeding to death on the library floor.
