Smurfocalypse Chapter 48: One Last Time.

Papa Smurf remained in his hut until the meeting. It wasn't unusual since that's where he worked as well as lived. Now that he wasn't leader anymore he had to keep himself busy somehow, and out of respect he was not to participate in construction duty. The time had come for the town meeting and Papa Smurf was mixing potions which would serve as medicine once the human medicine was gone. These concoctions were expert level alchemy potions, and Papa Smurf was making a full caldron of the concoction. It was a blue simmering solution which he very carefully was putting into vials. Since he had more time to himself with Hefty taking on most of his previous responsibilities he had the time to make potions in advance instead of seemingly always having to do it on the spot in the past.

When he heard Harmony's trumpet signaling the meeting he deeply sighed and pressed a couple of fingers between his eyes before gathering four books and leaving the hut to join the others into the house where at one point in time they all had to stay together. They were gathered in the living room and Hefty was present at the front of the room closest to the fireplace and was not in armor, but in his red clothes. To his left was Brainy, and to his right was Alchemist. His current council member was only just Handy, but he was there as well as the others. Everyone was waiting for Papa Smurf who entered the room calmly carrying his stack of what appeared to be very important books and joined the others in the living room.

"Now That every Smurf is here we will start the village meeting." Hefty said.

"What's the point in my newspaper if we're just going to have meetings like this?" Reporter asked genuinely concerned that these meetings may run him out of a job, a name, and just about everything else.

"How will you get the news for your stories if I don't tell you anything that's going on?" Hefty asks.

They could have argued for hours. Papa Smurf shut them both up.

"Quit bickering and get on with the meeting." Papa Smurf said.

"Sorry Papa Smurf." Reporter said.

"I found a couple of Smurfs this morning who're going through some stuff in their home city, and are looking for a place to live." Hefty said.

That's when Psychiatrist and Secretary revealed themselves which Archer immediately recognized them both and was a mixture of ashamed and embarrassed that he nearly killed one of them earlier. They were the same age as all the other Smurfs in the room save for Papa Smurf of course and yet they were dressed so maturely.

"We come from the Smurf city of Leafland, a land very far away. I'd be willing to bet we're not even from the same kingdom as each other, but you all seem to be just as Smurfy here as the Smurfs back home are. My name is Psychiatrist Smurf. I'm a Psychiatrist, a doctor that specializes in mental health. If you're curious about mental health, and its unique field you should refer to my literature." Psychiatrist says as he removes a book from his briefcase.

"I'll read your book Psychiatrist!" Doctor says enthusiastically

This pisses off Brainy who is understandably salt since he recommends books all the time and nobody ever reads anything he's written.

"Show off…" Brainy mumbles.

It was Secretary's turn to speak.

"Starting tomorrow Psychiatrist will be accepting appointments. However he will be very busy writing copies of his book so we'd prefer you come to me to schedule an appointment. My names Secretary and I used to be a librarian back in Leafland before I met Psychiatrist. I became his secretary when he was becoming a little more popular than he could handle. We are married, and we used to live in the same hut which upset the new leader so we ran away so we could still be together."

"I personally welcome you both to Port Saint Smurf." Papa Smurf said.

"Thank you." Psychiatrist said.

Papa Smurf walked to the front of the room with his books. The crowd of Smurfs parted for him as he walked.

"Hefty I'm afraid I need to take over one last time." Papa Smurf said setting down his books.

"What's this about Papa Smurf?" Hefty asked.

"I don't want you to be afraid. Balthazar knows where we are, and he's threatened to attack us." Papa Smurf said.

This caused a collective gasp in the crowd.

"Proof?" Hefty asks.

Papa Smurf hands Hefty the crinkled up letter and Hefty reads it.

"I will defend Port Saint Smurf to my dying breath." Hefty said.

"Hold on Hefty. You're no match for Balthazar." Papa Smurf said.

"No Smurf here wants to move, and even if we do he'll come after us and he will not stop searching until the last of us drops dead." Hefty said.

"I am going to confront Balthazar. Me, and me alone." Papa Smurf said.

"I can't let you do that." Hefty said.

"You will not stop me Hefty. I will confront Balthazar personally." Papa Smurf said.

"But you may be killed!" Brainy said.

"I may die, but I will put an end to Balthazar… Listen up my little Smurfs. The time has come for us to part ways. I've known most of you here since you were just babies and look at you all now. You've all grown to be fine young Smurfs, and I couldn't be more proud."

Brainy and few other Smurfs visibly began to tear up.

"Brainy!" Papa Smurf said.

Brainy straightens up and wipes his face.

"Yes Papa Smurf?" Brainy asks.

"I want you to have my magic book." Papa Smurf said handing Brainy the old tomb.

"Papa Smurf I could never…" Brainy said.

"Brainy it's yours now. Read it, study it, and memorize it. It will help the village a great deal in the future if you do." Papa Smurf said.

Papa Smurf turns to Alchemist next.

"Alchemist, my alchemy book is yours now. Like I said to you once before. Someday your potions will be the only potions in the village." Papa Smurf said.

"I will read this book cover to cover Papa Smurf." Alchemist said.

"And Hefty… As leader I present to you the most important book in our history. The Big Book of Smurfs. Hefty it is crucial that you record all the events that you go through and continue writing the book. It's been a part of who we are for longer than I've been around Hefty. My final wish to you is to continue recording our history." Papa Smurf said.

"Anything for you Papa Smurf." Hefty said.

Papa Smurf walked towards the door and took once last look at the Smurfs.

"What I am about to do… I do because I love you." Papa Smurf said.

He then left the house with the one book he didn't give away and then he opened it to a certain page causing it to glow. He then cast his hand out in front of him causing a portal to open in the street which he then went through before it shut, and he was gone.
