Smurfocalypse chapter 77: The Dark tower Part 6

Archer had successfully put an end to his opponent once and for all allowing passage to the next floor. There was only one more soldier in their way. Just how strong is the strongest of Vanity's warriors, and what sort of hell awaits them on the next floor? Archer had thoroughly destroyed his opponent. They could rest assured she would never kill again. Archer stared at the remains of his opponent which had now returned to the body of the Smurfette she once was. What could possess Vanity to commit such atrocities? To cut down Smurfettes and Smurflings just to gain power was disgusting.

"We don't have time to lose Archer. Let's move." Hefty said as he approached Archer.

"Your right… We have to put a stop to this." Archer said.

"So that nobody else has to turn into one of these things…" Farmer added.

The knights bravely ascended to the next floor of the tower. As they ascended the staircase they once again would be shrouded in darkness for lack of light source. However upon reaching the floor torches did not light much to their confusion.

"Stay close to me, and be prepared for anything!" Hefty ordered.

The knights drew their weapons and huddled close to Hefty in a tight formation in which the knights and Zarus were surrounding Hefty defensively. Farmer was in front staring into the darkness. The room was silent, and there was nothing that could be seen. As Farmer stood in a defensive stance staring into the darkness with his scythe drawn he felt a sharp pain shoot into his knee and up his thigh causing him to scream out and fall to the ground, dropping his scythe and breaking the silence.

"Farmer!" Hefty shouts.

"Something stabbed me in the knee!" Farmer yelled.

Farmer fumbles around in the dark trying to stand. He grabs his scythe and hold it out in front of him just in time to hear, and feel something strike the blade of his scythe. It was only after these events unfolded that the torches in the arena lit. When light came to the room Farmer was barely standing in the arena, and staring face to face with him was a demon resembling a Smurfette with bright blond hair and a black dress wielding a halberd. The demon did not open her eyes, but grinned baring jagged fangs. Farmer looks down to his right knee. There was a dagger made of bones sticking out of the grizzly wound. Farmer winced as he pulled the weapon out of his flesh and tossed it across the arena. Farmer was grievously injured already, and the fight hadn't even begun. His stab wound was bleeding heavily, and putting pressure on his leg resulted in excruciating pain. Yet he was trapped in a death match.

"You'll never stand a chance with a wound like that. Not against me." The demon hissed.

Farmer didn't respond just gritted his teeth, and tried to take his mind off the wound. He held his scythe out and attempted to remove his opponent's head, but she literally took flight before landing away from him at a safe distance.

"Hefty… Farmer can't fight with that wound. We have to do something." Timber said drawing his axe.

Timber began to rush into battle, but was stopped by Hefty who simply raised his arm out to stop him from advancing.

"Excuse me, did he ASK you for help?!" Hefty asked.

"But Hefty! He'll be killed!" Sweepy yells.

"Farmer is a warrior just like the rest of us. He trained and fought and survived just as well as us. We can't shame him by interfering with his match." Hefty said.

Hefty looked to Farmer and gave him a thumbs up.

"I believe in you Farmer. I know you can overcome this challenge." Hefty said

Farmer grinned and nodded before redirecting his attention to his opponent who was curiously just standing in the middle of the arena with her Halberd raised as though she were waiting for the opportunity to use a counter attack. Farmer was struggling to maintain his battle stance as he shakily held his scythe but Hefty was right, Farmer couldn't back down from this fight.

"You think just because you've snuck in a cheap shot that you can stand over there with your eyes shut and laugh at me!?" Farmer yelled.

"I'm blind dumbass…." The demon replies.

This brought shock to the knights. They had never encountered an opponent that was incapable of sight and yet so confident in their skill.

"You had nothing to gain from sharing that." Farmer said.

"Just like you have nothing to gain being here!? How DARE you defy Lord Vanity?!" The demon shouted.

"I dare defy anyone who would harm my family!" Farmer shouts.

"Family?!" The demon shouts before laughing hysterically.

"Family means nothing… When there is POWER!" The demon shouts.

"There's no way you could understand in the state you're in. Life is about cooperating and surviving together as a community. I refuse to sit back and allow your kind to wreak havoc!" Farmer shouts as he pops off the cork of his Formula of Strength and douses himself with it before tossing the vial.

"Enough talk… It's time for the harvest!" Farmer shouts as he hovers slowly up into the air where he would no longer be putting painful pressure on his leg.

He very skillfully twirls his scythe, the blade slicing aggressively through the air. This two-handed weapon was no problem to wield now with a single hand since Farmer was a Super Smurf. The demon took flight as well to meet his level, and the battle would now be taken to the skies as polearms clash and blows are exchanged. Farmer swings his scythe only for the blade to clash with his opponent's halberd. His increased strength was empowering his attacks and the power of flight took pressure off his leg wound, but his opponent could fly as well. As both fighters fought to overpower the other sparks flew from the weapons and littered the arena floor before going out. Farmer pulls his scythe back allowing the blade of the demon's halberd to slide up the shaft of Farmer's scythe. In one quick motion he swung his scythe with all his might causing his opponent's halberd to be sent flying to the arena floor.

The demon held up her empty arms as though confused for moment as to where her weapon went. Then she shrieked as an otherworldly sound erupted from her mouth. She then flew straight towards Farmer with lightning speed and tackled him right out of the air. Farmer grabbed hold of his scythe for dear life knowing that if he dropped it he'd be close to defenseless. However as they struggle in the air he discarded it anyway accidentally. Farmer's scythe fell to the floor with a bang, and shortly afterward Farmer would be joining it. His opponent had tackled him in mid-air and had grabbed hold of him. Both fighters were descending fast, but due to the way they were angled Farmer was the only one to suffer damage when they finally hit the ground. His opponent smashed Farmer into the floor and then quickly pinned him and grabbed hold of his injured leg. As farmer struggled she then dug her clawed index finger into his stab wound on his knee, and began deepening the wound. Her claw cut deep into the cartilage in Farmer's knee and the Smurf cried out in pain. As Farmer screamed and writhed in agony his opponent sadistically toyed with his stab wound causing profuse bleeding. Farmer was on his stomach with his back to his opponent. The demon was holding Farmer's leg back to the point where it was almost above his head, and was currently trying to see how many fingers she could fit into Farmer's knee.

"How disappointing… You're not even worthy of me using ten percent of my power." The demon said.

Farmer was down but not out, as he laid there struggling he remembered back a long time ago when Tracker had given him a pocket knife. If Farmer remembered correctly the knife was still on him. Now the way Farmer was currently positioned by his opponent he had little to no wiggle room, but he was still trying to shove his hand into his pocket while simultaneously trying to resist being overcome by pain. Due to his opponent's blindness he was able to reach for the small blade in his pocket, and reach his arm back before jabbing the pocket knife right into his opponent's neck causing her to immediately drop Farmer's leg and roll off of him clenching her bleeding throat. He had just bought himself some precious time to recollect himself. However his leg was so badly damaged that it would require surgery at this point. Farmer couldn't stand no matter how hard he tried, but he could still take flight.

Farmer slowly hovered up into the air before taking off and soaring towards his scythe, leaving a trail of blood behind him. There was very little Farmer could do about his wound except to heal, but the battle unfortunately had only just begun, and Farmer couldn't afford to waste his only potion. During those few precious seconds the wound on his opponent's neck healed, and she took to the air to pursue Farmer. Farmer grabs his scythe and circles around to face his opponent who had already retrieved her halberd. It wasn't long before their weapons clashed again causing sparks to fly as they entered a physical stalemate. Farmer pulls back his scythe allowing his opponent's Halberd to slice through the air. The blade scraped against Farmer's chain mail and the armor absorbed the blow.

"Now it's time to show you my power!" Farmer shouted as he drew back his scythe.

"Harvest Moon Swipe!" Farmer yelled as swung his scythe forward in an arc with all the might he could muster.

His opponent leaped back to avoid the attack and jabbed her halberd forward towards Farmer's torso only for it to collide with Farmer's scythe. Both fighters were sent back by the recoil of each other's attack, but Farmer proved faster and drew back his scythe to prepare another Harvest Moon Swipe. Farmer's latest attack was both quick and deadly, aided with the power of the formula it appeared as merely a blur. His opponent lifted her halberd to block the swift attack, but the scythe ended up severing the creature's hand causing the halberd to go crashing towards the arena floor. Showing no mercy Farmer follows up his attack with another Harvest Moon Swipe attacking so quickly his opponent could avoid being cut into two halves.

"Yes!" Timber shouts.

"Way to go Farmer!" Archer adds.

"Farmer's Harvest Moon Strike has nearly unmatched speed. He has truly unlocked a level of power such that has not been seen before." Hefty said.

"Just how is it that Farmer's strength and speed has improved so drastically Hefty?" Sweepy asked.

"Farmer has acquired an ability that only a few Smurfs have ever been known to possess." Hefty replied.

"A new ability? Are you being serious?" Falconer asks.

Hefty nods.

"Farmer has learned how to draw power from his very Smurf essence." Hefty said.

"Smurf essence?" Sweepy asked.

"If you remember years ago there was a time where Gargamel wanted our Smurf essence because it can give a human great power. Papa Smurf discovered a way to tap into our own Smurf essence." Hefty said.

"So then Farmer really has developed an extraordinary new power." Timber said.

"Hold on Hefty… If what you're revealing to us is true then why didn't you train us all to tap into our Smurf essence before the big battle?!" Archer asks.

Hefty closes his eyes and sighs.

"Because the training would have killed you all." Hefty said.

"But when did Farmer ever…" Sweepy began.

"Remember when Farmer and I left for a couple days towards the end of the training on the plateau?" Hefty asked.

"You said the two of you were going into the woods to get supplies for the trip home." Archer said.

"Right and as you know we did just that, but there was something else…" Hefty said.

"What happened?" Sweepy asked.

"Farmer and I had a duel to the death." Hefty said.

All the Smurfs look at Hefty shocked with their mouths agape.

-FLASHBACK-

It was the month before the Battle of Port Saint Smurf.

"I just don't want to be scared of them anymore Hefty… I want to find true courage and true strength like you, but the blackhearted terrify me." Farmer said.

"I understand Farmer. Perhaps there is something I could share with you to give you strength… A special technique Papa Smurf taught me before he died." Hefty said.

"From Papa Smurf?" Farmer asked.

"Yes. Papa Smurf knew how to draw power from his very Smurf essence." Hefty said.

"Smurf essence?! The essence of our bodies that Gargamel wanted?" Farmer asked.

"The very same power Farmer. You witnessed it for yourself with your own eyes. Remember when we fought the dragon together and Papa Smurf struck it out of the sky with lightning?" Hefty asks.

"Papa Smurf used a very large amount of his tremendous Smurf essence to create that bolt of lightning… It wasn't just his raw skill, but his Smurf essence." Hefty said.

"How can I draw power from my Smurf essence?" Farmer asks.

"That's what I was never told… Papa Smurf was supposed to give me a lesson, but then Balthazar found us and…" Hefty said.

"Yeah… I know what happened next." Farmer said.

"If we want to fight at our greatest potential we will need to learn how to use our Smurf essence in a fight." Hefty said.

"So why not tell the others? We have two days left maybe we could work on it together." Farmer said.

"Because the others would be killed… Especially Falconer, but I'll be real with you Farmer. I believe if you can kick this feeling you have of not wanting to fight then you could join me in exclusive training, and unlock the potential of your Smurf essence." Hefty.

"I just want everyone to survive and be safe… I want to return to growing food more than anything else in the entire world." Farmer said.

"Both your fellow Smurf, and your fellow knights are counting on you to make it a reality. As one of the best fighters there is I believe you can tap into great potential, and realize that simple dream." Hefty said.

-Flashback end-

"And I will never stop fighting until peace is achieved!" Farmer thought as he smacked his armored body into his opponent by soaring downward towards the arena floor where she fell.

"Hefty… You worked my very soul to the limit… You put special time and effort into training me up! I will not fail you!" Farmer thought as he shoved his entire arm up to the elbow into the torso of writhing opponent.

"Looking for something?" the demon asks sarcastically as her opponent felt around the inside of her own chest cavity for her heart.

Farmer looked her in the face and raised an eyebrow only for his opponent to physically spit up her heart with such force that the organ smacked Farmer upside the forehead and sent him flying back, causing him to land on his wounded knee and cuss as he grabbed it in pain. Meanwhile his opponent had recollected her heart as well as fully healed herself and rose to her feet once more.

"I destroyed Farmer's body, beat him within an inch of his life, and nearly bled him to death before he finally was able to do it." Hefty said.

The knights stared in disbelief as Hefty continued his tale.

"What you are seeing is what I suspect is a TRUE Super Smurf… A Smurf that can tap into his very essence to siphon incredible skill." Hefty said.

"Like your wind cutting technique?" Sweepy asked.

"Not quite Sweepy. My Wind Cutter is created by slicing the air around me at just the right speed, angle, and strength to create the attack. Farmer's Harvest Moon Swipe consists of smurf essence from inside his body." Hefty said.

Farmer let's go of his knee and once again grabs his scythe and hovers into the air.

"Lust, right? That's what your necklace says anyway… I've been in the arena with you long enough to know you stand no chance." Farmer said as he raised his scythe in front of him assuming his combat stance in the air.

"Eh? Is that right?" Lust replies.

"Within the next five minutes you will be dead." Farmer claims.

"A bold claim, but can Farmer really do it? Is Farmer truly a real Super Smurf?" Sweepy thought as he observed the battle.

Farmer then soared through the air and drew back his scythe. As he drew it back sparks began to surround the blade before an electrical current channeled itself from Farmer's very essence into the weapon.

"Harvest Moon Swipe!" Farmer yells as he swings his electrified weapon as hard as he could with both hands.

"Tch! How many times do you plan to use the same technique?!" Lust shouts as she raises her halberd defensively to parry Farmer's attack.

Farmer smirked as his opponent played right into his hand. Farmer's scythe collided with Lust's halberd and a massive amount of electricity generated from Farmer's Smurf essence shot from his blade into his opponent's weapon, and from her weapon to her body. Lust's body began to violently convulse as the aftermath of Farmer's attack coursed through her body and fried her insides. Electricity was visibly coursing through Lust's body as she screamed before being forced towards the arena floor by the force of the attack. Farmer had the upper hand, and was pursuing his opponent with his scythe drawn ready to strike her again. This time she was unarmed due to Farmer's last attack. Lust was falling while facing her opponent. She smirked as he got closer to her. She bided her time until Farmer was almost close enough to attack with a swing of his scythe. As Farmer prepared his attack though Lust revealed her most dangerous weapon. The blind demon opened her eyes. Farmer noticed it immediately it was like two piercing bright, but empty holes in his opponent's skull with a blinding light. The force behind this light was powerful enough to stop Farmer's pursuit and send him flying backward several feet before smacking back first into arena ceiling. It was as though a great force had simply enveloped his being and tried to destroy his very soul.

"What the hell was that? I feel like I was hit by a Smurfless wagon!" Farmer thought.

"My eyes aren't entirely useless anymore." Lust said with a snicker.

"Four minutes!" Farmer said.

This caused his opponent to snarl with anger before she leaped up off the ground and soared through the air with her halberd held out. She then began to spin in mid-air as she soared towards Farmer.

"Try my screwdriver attack on for size!" Lust says.

Farmer remained hovering in the air and generated more Smurf essence into his scythe causing electric current to flow through the blade once again. He only had an opening of a few seconds to work with before Lust had made it to him. Farmer had never fought an opponent with a halberd before so he didn't realize just how much reach his opponent had. Farmer swung his scythe only for his attack to completely miss before he suffered the full force of the screwdriver attack. Lust's halberd drilled right through Farmer's chain mail and the blade cut a hole through Farmer's body causing him to scream out and immediately fall out of the sky. Farmer hit the arena floor with a thud and bounced before laying there motionless. A large pool of blood was forming under him.

"Farmer! Your potion!" Hefty shouts.

Easier said than done. Farmer had a gaping hole in his torso. Farmer writhed in pain as he desperately reached for his potion.

"How is he even still conscious…" Sweepy said.

"Training. Very intense, life threatening training." Hefty answered.

"Oh? What do we have here? It seems he's still alive." Lust said as she soared to the arena floor and laughed at Farmer dying on the floor.

She landed right on top of him which caused Farmer to hopelessly cease his search for his potion as he cried out. Lust giggled to herself sadistically as she stomped her heeled shoe right into the hole she had just created in Farmer with her halberd causing him to writhe and scream in agony.

"Farmer!" Timber shouts as he draws his axe.

Hefty literally punches Timber as hard as he could right in his jaw in front of the entire army.

"I told you to fuck off! You can't fight an opponent as strong as Lust! You'll be killed!" Hefty said.

Hefty then shouts as loud as he can at Farmer.

"If you don't do something soon you'll be fertilizer! Do you understand?! You will die! The end! You will never grow food ever again!" Hefty shouts.

Farmer's face turned from one of pain into a look of determination. As he shoves his hand into his pocket for his potion

"I… I refuse to die! Port Saint Smurf needs me…" Farmer said.

Farmer pulls the potion out of his pocket and slides his arm up towards his face as he was still in so much pain he could barely move. His opponent was no longer standing on him though, but only because she was about to finish him off by driving her halberd through the back on his head. Farmer drank the liquid quickly the moment he was able to, and quickly got to his feet causing Lust's halberd to strike the floor and put a nice sized crack in it as the blade penetrated the tile.

"That's the way." Hefty said with a nod of approval.

"It'll take way more than that to defeat a super Smurf." Hefty adds.

Farmer stands painlessly on the arena floor for the first time in what felt to Farmer to be hours. He then generates more Smurf essence to electrify his scythe and points to Lust with his free hand.

"Three minutes…" Farmer said.

"There's no way." Lust said.

"Then consider this. You've pulled out all your techniques already, but I still have a couple." Farmer said.

"Yet at any moment she could open her eyes and unleash that attack again…" Farmer thought.

Just then while holding his electrified scythe in one hand Farmer began to twirl the weapon rapidly. As he did so a bolt of lightning shot from circle the weapon was creating and soared straight towards Lust at mach speed.

"Let's see how that body of yours likes my Harvest Bolt!" Farmer said.

The bolt of electricity struck his opponent out of the air and causes a massive amount of electricity to course through her as she screamed. Farmer didn't let up, and released another Harvest Bolt. The attack was deflected when Lust opened her eyes causing that light to force back the bolt of lightning. The lighting crashed into the wall of the tower causing a scorch mark. In that time Farmer had closed the distance between them and drew back his scythe before swinging it in an arc towards Lust.

"Harvest Moon Swipe!" Farmer yelled as his blade cut deep into his opponent.

The scythe cut through Lust like a hot knife through butter causing electricity to once again course through her. There was no way her heart was going to be able to endure the amount of electricity Farmer could generate with his Smurf essence. Farmer continued to swing his scythe in rapid succession witling away at Lust's body until it could no longer contain her organs. All the while his opponent was taking so much damage she couldn't properly form a counter attack. Farmer sliced his opponent in half and her heart fell out of her torso onto the floor. Farmer gave the organ a glance, noticing it was trying to escape.

"This is the end of you…" Farmer claimed just before stomping the creature's heart under his boot.
