The Smurfocalypse chapter 98: The Search for the Savant Cure Part 2: The Raptors of Blood Mountain

Blood Mountain… the humans call it the scab of the earth. A red mountain protruding from a patch of woods that stretches hundreds of feet into the air towards the sky. Alchemists from all over the world would make a pilgrimage to this mountain to collect the coveted bloodstones for their concoctions. Hefty led his forces on a grueling journey on foot to this location for just that purpose. After over a week of traveling the knights had finally made it to the edge of the woods surrounding the mountain.

"Blood Mountain is just through these woods." Hefty said.

"I can't believe we finally made it. My feet are sooo tired." Smurfblossom said.

"All of us are tired Smurfblossom, but we must soldier on for Handy's sake." Timber said.

"We must proceed with caution. These woods could be dangerous." Smurfstorm said.

"Should I send Zarus out to scout the area?" Falconer asked.

"No. We must stick together in these uncertain lands. Follow me and keep your wits about you." Hefty said.

Hefty bravely led his forces into the uncharted forest and the familiar sounds of wildlife surrounded them. Although their surroundings looked and sounded like home, the knights treaded cautiously. They came to a clearing in the middle of the forest and before they knew it they were surrounded. Before the knights could prepare there were eight Smurfs and one Smurfette dressed in bone armor resembling creatures long extinct surrounding them. They came down from the trees and out of the foliage weapons in hand and completely left the knights in a position where they were trapped together within a circle. These Smurfs pointed their weapons right at the knights and held them at weapon point. Smurfblossom immediately raises her arms into the air with a shriek followed by the other knights including Hefty.

"Whoa there friends! No need for violence! We're all Smurfs here!" Hefty shouts.

The Smurfette wearing bone armor resembling a pterodactyl stepped forward towards the formation. She had long shoulder length natural blue hair and under her armor she wore a pink knee length dress with black mary janes.

"Who are you, and what are you doing in our woods?" She said.

"I am Hefty Smurf of Port Saint Smurf, and these are my knights. We come in peace." Hefty said.

The Smurfette scowled once learning of who she was speaking with and gritted her teeth.

"Hefty Smurf?! The strongest Smurf in the universe?!" The Smurfette spat.

There was a collective gasp amongst her forces, and they aggressively thrusted their weapons even closer to the knights. Smurfblossom was a mere inch away from having her throat slit. The other knights were in a similar predicament.

"We've heard stories about the likes of you! You're nothing but a murderer!" The Smurfette shouts.

"Now wait just a moment! Hefty would never murder anybody!" Timber shouts.

"Silence! I could end your miserable lives right here and it would be well within my right to do so. However I am not a rotten Smurf murderer. By the power invested in me by my master Raptor Smurf I hereby place you all under arrest! It would be of your best interest to cooperate." The Smurfette said.

"U-Under arrest?!" Smurfblossom asked.

Zarus begins to grow restless on Falconer's armguard and screeches out.

"Now Now Zarus, We want to solve this issue peacefully." Falconer said.

"If you know what's good for you you will come with us without resistance." The Smurfette said.

The knights were then hauled away by this group of bone wearing Smurfs. They were taken deep into the woods closer to the mountain. They eventually were taken to an encampment where a small amount of mushroom huts were built. At the center of the encampment near the well a Smurf wearing bone armor resembling a velociraptor was drawing water from the well when the Smurfette accompanied by her forces forced the knights into that life threatening circle once again when they came to a stop. The Smurf drawing water stopped what he was doing and turned around to face the commotion.

"Terry? What is the meaning of this?" He asked approaching the Smurfette.

"Master Raptor, We caught these armored Smurfs carrying weapons snooping around our woods." Terry said.

"Put your weapons away… Immediately. This is no way to treat guests." Raptor said.

Raptor Smurf was around the same age as Papa Smurf and had on him no weapons at the moment. Just this peculiar suit of bone armor that all the Smurfs native to these lands apparently had. Although they were designed to look like dinosaur bones, these suits of armor were a mix match creation consisting of the bones of many woodland creatures carefully crafted to resemble the bones of long extinct animals. Each Smurf had a unique armor design which presumably matched their namesake.

"But Master Raptor!" Terry said.

"No buts! I'm shocked at you pterodactyl this is not how I raised any of you. Put down your weapons this instant." Raptor said.

By his command the bone armored Smurfs lowered there weapons. Smurfblossom couldn't help but sigh in relief now that there wasn't a blade pressed against her neck.

"What brings you to Blood Mountain my dear friends?" Raptor asked.

Finally a Smurf that was capable of reason amongst this community.

Hefty couldn't help smile a Smurfy smile under his helmet as the tension faded away.

"We've come on a noble quest to help a dear friend of ours who was badly injured. All we need is a single bloodstone from the mountain, and then we'll be on our way." Hefty said.

"Is that all? A single bloodstone? That can certainly be arranged." Raptor said.

Raptor then turned to Terry.

"Why on Earth would treat these Smurfs with such brutality?" Raptor asked.

"Clearly you have no idea who you are talking to!" Terry said.

Terry then points her finger aggressively at Hefty.

"This Smurf who stands before you is none other than Hefty Smurf!" Terry said.

"Hefty Smurf… The strongest Smurf in the universe. Never thought I would see the day." Raptor said.

Raptor then scowled.

"However this changes everything. We don't take kindly to murderers in these parts." Raptor said.

"Hefty is not a murderer!" Archer yells.

"That's not what we've heard. Not only is Hefty Smurf a murderer, but as far as I see things the majority of you are just as guilty!" Raptor said.

Raptor then outstretches his index finger and points to each knight he recognized from the legends as he named them.

"Timber, Sweepy, Archer, Falconer, Farmer. You're all murderers who have cut down their fellow Smurf." Raptor said.

"And what makes you so self-righteous that you can judge Hefty Smurf?!" Smurfstorm shouts angrily

"I am the master of Blood Mountain, and you are all trespassing!" Raptor said snapping his fingers.

Upon Raptor snapping his fingers the bone armored Smurfs once again aimed their weapons at the knights.

"You never should have come to this place Hefty Smurf. I place you all under arrest for being Smurf slayers." Raptor said.

"Smurf slayers eh?" Smurfstorm said rolling her eyes.

"You will finally be tried for your crimes against your fellow Smurf right here at Blood Mountain. Terry said.

"And for your crimes I sentence you to five hundred years in prison!" Raptor shouted.

"Five Hundred years? For defending our home from invaders?" Sweepy said.

"This is Smurf shit!" Timber shouts.

"Shut up! Terry! Take these filthy murderers to the prison!" Raptor said.

"With pleasure master." Terry said.

The knight's arms were bound by rope. Upon Falconer being bound Zarus flew from his armguard into the trees.

"What about those three?" Terry asked pointing to Smurfblossom, Smurfstorm, and Jupiter.

"Escort them out of the woods, and make sure they know never to return." Raptor said.

Things grow dark for our heroes as the knights are split apart. The situation at Blood Mountain continues in the next chapter of Smurfocalypse.
