Preliminary Round Heavy Town Race!
The sun is raising from the horizon shining its warm bright light all over the Crocus city, slowly waking everyone up including the hotel team Fairy Tail is staying at as they were assigned there by the officials of the Grand Magic Game. Squirrel Girl is the first to wake up and sit up stretching out her arms, she looks down on her left to see her handsome Wolverine sleeping peacefully with She-Hulk sleeping on his left as the three lovers shared a bed together, Max and Bisca are sleeping in separate beds.
Squirrel gently and quietly got off the bed heading for the balcony to let in the fresh air of the new day.
"Wow, so peaceful." Squirrel Girl smiled.
"GOOD MORNING CROCUS!" A giant hologram of a small man with a big pumpkin head shouted shocking Squirrel Girl a bit and waking up her teammates.
So much for a peaceful morning.
"Okay, who's the fucking wise set up the wake-up call?" Wolverine groaned.
"That pumpkin." Squirrel Girl pointed.
"He's a funny-looking fellow." She-Hulk commented.
"Everyone, as those of you who don't know me, I am Mato! The wonderful mascot of the Grand Magic Games, and I'm here to announce this year's preliminary round!" Mato announced joyfully.
"Never thought I actually meet a guy with a pumpkin for show." Wolverine said.
"Mato is the town's favorite, especially when it comes to the Grand Magic Games that the king himself approved." Max explained.
"But still, there has never been a preliminary round in the past, so why are they doing it now?" Bisca explained.
"Okay, the number of guilds coming here increases every year as this year is 109 guilds, but only eight guilds can move on to the Grand Magic Game!" Mato mentioned.
"Whoa, I didn't even realize there were that many guilds in Fiore." She-Hulk surprised.
"And only eight can enter the game, that must mean they want to make this year's game more extreme!" Squirrel Girl guessed.
"That means we'll have to make sure we become one of the eight guilds, we made a promise to our guild that we break that losing streak and come out on top! You all with me?" Wolverine asked rising his claws in the air.
"Yeah!" The rest of team Fairy Tail cheered.
"Okay, if you're all ready to get things started then please go outside of your hotel get this started!" Mato said.
The Fairy Tail team weren't sure of what that pumpkin guy has in plans for this new preliminary round that apparently never happened before, but they'll worry about that later. Fairy Tail and all the other guilds in the capital are now outside of their hotel just as they were told.
"Okay, the rules are simple: this is a race to the battle arena and you have 30 minutes, only the top eight can move!" Mato explained the rules to the Preliminary Round.
"I see, they want to see how fast we go in tough situations like this and since the stadium is far away, it'll take a while to get there." Max figured the purpose of this race.
"Please, I'm sure we can make it there in no time." She-Hulk believed.
"Oh, and before I forget, I should mentioned one more rule about the race. You use your magic however you want, but there is no flying over the city and to make sure that rule is follow, I hope you all don't mind gaining a few extra pounds." Mato said in a dark tone at the end.
"Huh?" Wolverine confused of what he meant until suddenly he and his team felt a powerful force that's pushing them down on all four though She-Hulk's knee is barely touching the ground despite the heavy force she's feeling.
"W-What the hell is this?" Max groaned.
"It feels like gravity magic and a very strong one too." Bisca pointed out. And it's not just team Fairy Tail, but all the other guilds are feeling the powerful gravity magic on them.
"This Gravity Field spell is quite powerful as you already tell, this will make sure those with flying abilities can't take the easy way, meaning you'll have to power through this in order to make it to the arena." Mato explained.
"And this is why I hated eating my veggies as a kid." Squirrel Girl grunted.
"Technically, he's a fruit." She-Hulk corrected her.
"I DON'T CARE!" Squirrel Girl snapped.
"Okay everyone, you have better get moving because the Preliminary Round starts NOW!" Mato shouted before the giant hologram disappeared.
"Damn it, come on guys, we better get moving!" Wolverine said as he starts moving his legs, 'running' though it's more like power walking while Squirrel Girl is running on all four being a couple foot ahead of him.
"That's easy for you to say…" Max groaned.
"We're not crazy powerhouses like you guys." Bisca pointed out the low level of physical strength the two have.
"Then how about a little ride on the She-hulk express!" She-Hulk lifted Max and Bisca placing them on her shoulders.
"Whoa! It's like the Gravity Field spell is not effecting you!" Max shocked.
"Please, my cousin can lift a mountain and I sparred with him plenty of times, so this is nothing!" She-Hulk smirked before she starts jogging fast while picking up Squirrel Girl and Wolverine along the way.
(With Team Sabretooth)
"Damn, I didn't think this year would be intense." Sting admitted as he struggles a little to run along with his team.
"Glad we decided to let Lector and Frosh stay at the hotel, they wouldn't be able to withstand the pressure for long." Rogue stated.
"This is nothing, it'll be an extra leg day for me!" A large shirtless muscle man smirked.
"While it may be good exercise for you, Orga, but I remember that some of us don't have the strength to move around like this." A man said wearing a big fancy red hat and a mask along with a fancy-looking outfit.
"Rufus got a point; we need to get there fast." Sting concurred and turn to the fifth member.
"Hey Yukino, don't you have a spirit that can handle gravity?" Sting asked the girl.
Yukino is a slender, well-endowed young woman with short, light blue hair and fringes framing her face. She wore a black rose ornament (blue in the anime) on the left side of her head. She wears a cloak clasped together by a star-shaped clip, with feathery protrusions that cover her chest, shoulders, and mid-back, over her blouse and shorts. The cloak flared at her feet, where it is divided into flowing sections secured by ribbons. She wears a black pair of socks that stopped at her mid-thighs. Breasts sizes: EE-cup.
"Yes, I have just the spirit for that." Yukino said and pulled out a gold Celestial Key.
"Open, Gate of the Heavenly Scales: Libra" Yukino summoned her Celestial Spirit, Libra.
"You summoned me, Yukino?" Libra asked.
"Can you please make the gravity around us lighter?" Yukino asked.
"Of course, Gravity Change." Libra used her gravity magic to change gravity pressure on Yukino and her team as they can feel lighter now.
"Alright, now we're talking!" Sting smiled.
"I've memorize the shortest route to the arena, at our fastest we should be there under ten minutes." Rufus said.
"I say we can get there quicker if I can enhance you all with my lightning." Orga proclaimed.
"I don't think we'll be needing that, Libra?" Yukino looked back at her Spirit.
"Understood." Libra nodded, knowing what her mistress is thinking and use her gravity magic again to make team Sabretooth lighter to run faster.
"Now we should be able to get the arena shorter the time!" Yukino stated.
"(Wow, she's really amazing when she gets serious!)" Sting thought smirked at Yukino, maybe thinking about asking after the Games.
Meanwhile, all the other guild teams like the Blue Pegasus and Lamia Scale are finding their own way to move around through the heavy pressure and making their way to battle arena which is also named Domus Flau.
(Back with Team Fairy Tail)
"Alright, we're gonna make it!" Squirrel Girl cheered as they have about 13 minutes and 26 seconds left.
"Yeah, but we still have to navigate through the city to reach the arena." Max mentioned.
"And since you guys are new here, you don't know your way around, we know how to get there and hopefully we'll be on time." Bisca stated.
"I don't think making turns and is gonna cut it, the arena is just straight in this direction, right?" She-Hulk asked.
"Yeah, why?" Max asked.
"Oh no, She-Hulk, you better not be doing what I think you're about to do!" Wolverine worried confusing Max and Bisca.
"Relax, babe, we'll just be taking a 'shortcut' to get there." She-Hulk assured.
"Shortcut, I don't think I know any shortcut to the arena." Max said.
"Hehe, that's because we'll be taking my own shortcut!" She-Hulk excited.
"Why are you smiling so scary?" Max asked worry.
"You're about to find out, brace yourself!" Wolverine warned as he formed an X shape with his arms and Squirrel Girl quickly brought up her tail to use as a shield.
Before Max and Bisca knew it, they see She-Hulk's body glowing big of her Gamma Magic and notice her speed is increasing to running faster than before, and they appear to be heading right toward a building quickly catching on what she's doing.
"AAAAAAAHHHHH?!" Max and Bisca screamed of horror.
Team Fairy Tail ram right through the building breaking through walls after walls destroying mostly everything on the inside even though none of them have people inside, it's still going to be a lot of destruction happening in the town and Fairy Tail is the cause of this like they always have in the past.
"Hey, do you hear something?" A male wizard asked his teammates.
Unfortunately for them where they are standing right now means they have sealed their fate and run over by team Fairy Tail's She-Hulk ride right after she ran through another wall, the mage team were left laying on the ground either unconscious or groaning in pain or maybe both.
They also have 9 minutes left.
"This is crazy! You'll end up destroying the capital at this rate!" Max panicked.
"Relax, that pumpkin dude said that we couldn't fly over the city which none of us can do, but he didn't said anything about NOT running through the buildings as a faster way to get there." She-Hulk pointed out.
"But there are people living here too, you know!" Bisca reminded her fellow female Fairy Tail.
"That's true, but if that's the case then why haven't we seen any civilians around at all besides other guild teams?" She-Hulk asked.
"Huh, now that you mentioned it, there weren't any people inside those buildings either with all the ruckus that's been going on. The people who lives a few floors higher should've notice that too." Wolverine noticed all that while they were going through the buildings they went through.
"Exactly, which means that the people have already gotten up early before any of us and are probably already at the arena waiting for the eight guild teams." She-Hulk added.
"Seriously? Man, these people sure don't waste any time when it comes to this Grand Magic Games." Squirrel Girl surprised and impress of how the people of Crocus are prepared for something like this.
"Though I'm pretty sure they'll be sending a lot of complaints to the guild and Macao isn't going to be happy about that." Bisca sighed.
"We'll worry about that later; I think I can see the stadium!" Wolverine pointed forward showing that the arena of the Grand Magic Games.
"Alright, now we're cooking!" She-Hulk excited as she increased her speed a little.
"Whoa, whoa, hold on a second, shouldn't we slow down?" Max asked.
"No way, we got to get there soon or else we might end up being below the top five." She-Hulk stated.
"I wouldn't be surprise if the other teams have already made their way to the arena, better make a big entrance while we're at it." Wolverine said.
"You're crazy!" Max freaked out.
"Haha, actually this remains me of how things were back when Natsu and the others were still with us. All the crazy shit we did and the damage we caused on jobs. This is definitely how Fairy Tail has always been." Bisca remembered all the good times they had.
Max smiles a bit, also remember how crazy things were before the Tenou Mage disappeared on the island six years ago but they still hold onto the memories of their friends as they believe they will come home one day.
"You heard them, She-Hulk, charge!" Squirrel Girl shouted.
She-Hulk ran toward the stone wall of the stadium, even though they could've just use the opened entrance to get inside easy, but by the time Max couldn't thought of that they were already ramming through the walls and burst out into the arena ground with a surprised Mato waiting.
"Whoa! Talk about making a 'Smashing' entrance!" Mato punned as he approaches team Fairy Tail.
"Yeah, sorry about that, guess we were kinda in a hurry to get here." She-Hulk apologized.
"It's fine, damage like this happens in past Grand Magic Games though this is the first we had the contestant entering the games in such a way." Mato said.
"Cool, so what number are we in?" Squirrel Girl asked after and the others getting down from She-Hulk.
"(Please be in the top five, please be in the top five.)" She-Hulk begged in her mind.
"You Fairy Tails have really step up this year because you're the fourth team to have made it here!" Mato announced.
"AWESOME!" She-Hulk shouted in joy.
"We're not actually in last place, even though it was only the Preliminary Round it's still a good start." Max smiled wiping away the tears of joy from his eyes.
"I think the crowd is also taking this as a surprise." Bisca said.
True to her words, the audience are very surprised that the "Last Place Loser Guild" that always loses in these games every year have actually did a lot better, especially with three new strong members on their team thinking they might just pull it off.
Soon, all the eight teams enter the Domus Flau stadium while the others are force to sit with the audience to watch the games.
"Okay, now to announce the eight team that will be competing in the Grand Magic Games! We have the first-place team, Sabretooth!" Mato announced showing Sting and his team standing proudly.
"I see they got here first, makes it all the more interesting to bear them." Wolverine smirked.
"The second-place team, Lamia Scale!" Here are Jura, Lyon, Sherria, and other guys probably Toby and Yuka.
"Good to know they made it here, I always wanted to fight them myself." She-Hulk excited.
"I hope they're still not mad at me for trashing their guild." Squirrel Girl whispered to herself.
"In Third Place, Blue Pegasus!" Four men standing together striking a pose with a weird blue bunny, one man is very short and very weird.
"Those are some weirdos." Wolverine commented.
"They are, but they're good friends and have helped us search for our missing friends along with Lamia Scale." Max explained.
"In Fourth Place, Fairy Tail!" Most of the crowd started cheering for them even though others think they'll never last long.
"Yes, some cheering for a change!" Max smiled.
"In the Fifth Place, Mermaid Heels!" Five women standing together as a couple of them waves at the crowd.
"Mermaid Heels?" Wolverine asked.
"It's an all-female guild, no men allow." Bisca explained.
"Sixth Place goes to Quatro Cerberus!" Five weird-looking men shouted "WILD" together.
"Seventh Place, the newest Guild who wants to experience the exciting event, The Mutant Brotherhood!" Five mysterious people wearing dark-red cloaks that covers their hold bodies.
"Guys?" She-Hulk asked Max and Bisca.
"Never heard of them until now." Bisca shrugged.
Wolverine sniffs the guys and notice one of them having a very familiar scent and getting a bad feeling about it.
"And in last place, the Twilight Ogre!" Team Fairy Tail became surprised that the guild they had problems with until Wolverine showed up are now part of the game. They even notice one girl with them as she looks a little stronger than them.
"Now that all eight teams are assembled, let us begin the Grand Magic Games!" Mato declared and everyone cheers.

Fairy Tail have passed the Preliminary Round coming in fourth place and now they'll have to prepared themselves to survive five days in the game while facing off against other guilds and doing some other contest too. And yes, I included Twilight Ogre because I think it would be better for Fairy Tail to get back at them in games and for the Mutant Brotherhood, you'll see who they are.
