He must be dreaming. He has to be. There is no way this can be real. It's the only explanation as to how he could be seeing her right now. He remembers the last time he saw her, all those years ago. Damon would never forget the tears streaming down her face as she tried running after their carriage. He remembers one of the final letters he received from her after he had originally returned home from the war. It had arrived right before the first Founder's Day ball. She wrote to him about her life, how she had taken an interest in creating inventions, and how her mother kept trying to get her to meet eligible men in their town. Damon had responded, encouraging her to never stop seeking the answers the world had to offer. He had been amazed at her intelligence. Felicity had always been smart, sometimes too smart to the point where others thought her strange. But Damon had found it endearing. However, in the end, she did not respond to his letter.

He had been heartbroken after not hearing from her again, and when he learned she had passed, it destroyed him even more. Felicity had always been a constant in his life, even when they no longer lived in the same country, much less on the same continent. Trying to live without her had been a struggle, even as a human and even more as a vampire. It had been crippling. But now here she was standing before him, beautiful as ever.

Damon tried to collect his thoughts as he traced every inch of her face. "Felicita?" Her name came out as a whispered gasp. "Is that really you? You're alive? How?" he asked in an obvious state of shock, his brain somehow commanding his mouth to speak.

"Me?" Felicity asked, "I could ask you the same." She replied at a level that was no louder than a whisper. "I can't believe you're here. How are you here?" Damon watched her as she took him in, just as he had done a moment before. The two vampires were so caught up in their moment that they failed to hear the voices trying to garner their attention.

"Felicity!" A voice shouted her name, sharply cutting through the air and finally grabbing their attention. They jumped apart, unaware of who moved first, but somehow found themselves practically in each other's arms. After coming back to reality and taking in the people around them, Felicita takes a step back, moving closer to the unknown man who had called her name.

"Who is this?" The strange man questioned her while eyeing Damon suspiciously. Felicita turned to face the group lingering behind her to introduce him.

"Oh, guys, I am so sorry. This is-"Before she could finish, Damon cut her off, introducing himself with an extended hand to greet the unfamiliar man. "Damon Salvatore."

"Oliver Queen." Accepting Damon's handshake, Oliver tried to intimidate Damon by squeezing his hand. The action amused the vampire to no end.

"Nice to meet you." Damon stated it plainly. "Oliver is my boss." Felicity explained, drawing his attention back to her. "The Queen family decided to take a minor getaway to this quaint little town. So here we are. Isn't this exciting? Yay." Felicity feigned excitement, trying to break the awkwardness while fidgeting with her hands—an obvious note of her nervousness.

Endeared by her quirks, Damon assists in directing the conversation to the individuals behind her. "I'm guessing this is the rest of the Queen family," he asks, referring to the other individuals lingering behind her.

"Oh, right. Yes." She moves toward the group, pointing to each one as she introduces them. "This is Thea, Oliver's sister, his mother, Mrs. Queen—well, Moria, actually. Her name isn't Mrs. Queen; I just call her Mrs. Queen because that's who she is. Well, at least to me, she is." She trails off lamely before moving on. "This here is Mr. Steele, or Walter; he is Oliver's stepdad and QC's current CFO." Shifting back to the other side before introducing the remainder of the group. "This is Tommy Merlyn, Roy Harper, John Diggle, and Sara and Laurel Lance." Damon feigned interest and played nice as the newcomers were introduced.

Despite the lack of interest, he held for the group in front of him. Damon noticed their stances and slight defensive positions. They are fighters.

"Right. Of course, it's nice meeting you all. Welcome to Mystic Falls; unfortunately, the welcome committee has the day off." Damon turns to speak to Felicity, hoping to speak to her in private. However, before he could get out a word, he was interrupted once more.

"Damon." The man in question turned to look at his baby brother as he approached them. Damon used all his inner strength to suppress the annoyed sigh creeping up his throat. "What's going on? Who is this?" Stefan asked as he joined the group. Damon looked behind Stefan and could see the rest of the Scooby gang trailing behind him like a group of lost puppies.

"Stefan. You remember Felicita?" Damon made a gesture to the blonde-haired woman in front of him. But before Stefan could respond, the blonde produced a loud feminine squeal.

"Ohmygod! Stefan? As in little baby Stefan! Is that really you?" Felicity began to vibrate with excitement and pure joy at seeing Stefan again. Damon saw Caroline lean over to Ric and whisper, 'Little baby Stefan?' Something tells him that his little brother is not going to be able to live that one down for a while, and he can't wait to start it.

Stefan let out a confounding "Felicita?" before breaking out into a contagious smile. It was at this moment that Felicity practically threw herself at Stefan. Thank God for Stefan's fast reflexes, or they would have both fallen. "Wow, I can't believe you're here." Stefan pulled back to get a better look at her.

"Look at you. Not a baby anymore." Felicity replied, causing Stefan to blush.

"Well, technically, I wasn't a baby the last time we saw each other. I was four." Stefan bashfully stated: Before they could continue their conversation, Elena came forth with her game of twenty questions.

"Stefan? Who is this?" she asked. Stefan turned toward Elena to introduce her to Felicity. However, before he could extend the courtesy, Felicity cut him off and extended her hand, introducing herself to the brunette. Wow, for a couple of 19th-century vampires, we really need to work on our manners.

"Felicity Smoak." Elena smiles at the blonde vampire before extending her greeting.

"Elena. It's nice to meet you." Damon chose this moment to interrupt before anyone else could join their meet-and-greet party.

"Great, now that we all know each other." Damon turned to Felicity. "We should really talk. You know, catch up." Damon goes to take her arm to lead her away, but Felicity turns to address her travel companions. "Um, we are going to go catch up for a bit, if that is alright. I will join you when we are done." For some reason, she begins to become flustered and uncertain of herself, as if she subconsciously feared they would deny her request. As if she needed their permission. The elder gentleman, Walter, answers her. "Of course, Ms. Smoak, worry not. Go on and enjoy yourself. We shall find you later, after we have finished our meal." The groups begin to slowly disperse, going in different directions; however, Oliver did not fail to catch Damon's attention as he lingered a bit, not exactly looking too pleased at the current situation. As if the human wanted to object to Felicity being alone with him. Damon couldn't help but be amused. He watched as the man scowled as he placed a hand on Felicity's low back, leading her away from everyone else. Damon noticed Oliver's clenched jaw and ball fists and couldn't help but think how much fun he will have tormented this human for the short time they will be here. But for right now, there is a petite blonde who deserves his most prompt attention, and he intends to give her all of it.
