Playgrounds of Destruction:

North America:

The Zone- The Urbanized "Zone", this city is a destroyed part of Los Angeles where the remnants of society lives, fortified to the extreme in the remnants of destroyed buildings and armed to the teeth with weapons, led by contestant and warlord Thumper, who rules The Zone with an iron fist. Includes remakes of Assault on Cyburbia and Big Blue Stadium, where the throne for Thumper lays in wait..

Mount Rushmore- The remains of one of the biggest national landmarks in the former U.S.A.; with Washington D.C. turned into a giant crater, Outlaw and Crimson Fury have made their mark here, looking to re-establish the government of the old ways and take over their former lands through force and colonization.

Old Orleans- The flooded remains of New Orleans mixed with the also flooded swamps that surrounds it leads to a deadly game of cat and mouse in one of the more dangerous areas the twisted metal competition has ever been involved in. Includes a recreation of Suicide Swamp from Jet Moto, mutated alligators and if you destroy the nearby flood wall? Prepare for even worse consequences.

The Arctic- Up in the north past the Canadian mainland lies the Arctic, covered in cold and slippery ice, this area of the world is considered one of the hardest battlegrounds in Calypso's tournament as the entire arena slowly melts as water rises. By the end, the only parts of the left are the giant aircraft carrier with the glacier sticking out of it as well as the flattened iceberg nearby. We neglected the planet, but the Twisted Metal competition will simply destroy it.

Niagara Falls- The entry point into the unknowns of the Canadian Wasteland, it's heavily guarded by what's left of the Canadian government. That being said, mutated ants have been crawling out of the earth and have been trying to breach the border wall into Canada. Depending how the competition goes, you could only spread the virus further. Oh, and be careful about the drop, no one knows how far it goes down….

Chichen Itza- One of the few remaining places in the world that's survived the apocalypse, however that doesn't mean that you're safe. The spirits demand blood, and the sun god is more than willing to help; be careful of your surroundings, because at any moment you could get scorched by a beam of extreme heat.

Mexico City- Somehow Mexico City itself has become one of the center points of an invasion from the demons of hell themselves. Drive through the skyscrapers of Santa Fe, crash into the Palace of Fine Arts and blow up other contestants at the Chapultepec Castle, but be careful not to make the wrong move and your soul will be dragged to hell by demons both physical and psychological.

South America:

Savior's Point- Located in Rio De Janeiro, specifically around the statue of Jesus, the followers of the savior himself crowd around in an attempt to find a sign from the Lord to save them. These followers believe that their salvation shall arrive in a black fog that's coming from the sky; above it is a strange shape moving slower and slower, with its stopping point believed to be above the Jesus statue itself. With that in mind, these religious followers believe the Twisted Metal competition is a sign of the devil, and that their interference would ruin their chances at salvation. And truth be told, they would be right!

Scorched Earth- Since the last contest, the area around the Amazon has burned up significantly; lava slowly fills up more and more, smothering each and every old temple from last year's competition. Drive downhill however, and smoke will permeate the air, fields of crops are burnt to the ground, and only the husks of villages will remain. The villagers themselves? Covered in ash just waiting to dissipate with every gust of air, slowly burying itself within time. Be careful that you don't become one of those ghosts.

Europe:

London Point- Big Ben still stands, but society around it has not. Instead the entirety of London has been quarantined and shuttered in due to the strange outbreak of the undead scattered around the area. Survivors commonly try to escape into the nearby countryside, the Winchester Pub is surrounded, and every now and then pockets of former military drop supplies crates in your vicinity. You could do the nice thing and keep the outbreak contained, but truth be told it would be more fun to breach the walls and escape into the surrounding countryside.

Venice- The nuclear exchanges amongst the world have done numerous things to wildlife: it's made mutated ants, helped create modern zombies, and now to add to the list: fish people. Yes you heard correctly, Venice has been populated by the descendants of the old ones under the sea and they're looking to abduct survivors and bring them down to the cavernous depths below, but not if you have anything to say about it. Drive through the canals of Venice, kill your opponents, and be careful how much meat you feed to the water; feed too much and you might invite more dangerous foes than you could comprehend.

Transylvania- Darkness has surrounded the Transylvania countryside and its townsfolk have returned to their past roots after the apocalypse. The castle up top has been avoided for centuries due to rumors of evil spirits, and strange bat creatures while the town below it, leveled by disaster has turned into its own makeshift fortress guarded by people with weapons of olden days. Connecting the two areas however is an underground cave system, which deep inside if the combination to a special puzzle is found, a catastrophic event will happen which could level the entire region.

The Belfast Exclusion Zone- Belfast has been hit with more than just nukes and constant gunfire: a radio signal has permeated the air, and numbers being read over these signals have led to everyone collectively losing their minds. Any and everybody has the chance to attack you, birds fall from the sky from strange wormholes, earthquakes and radiation pockets are common and depending on where you end up the voices could only get louder and louder, telling you things that you're not sure could even exist. You've been warned ahead of time..

Asia:

Kowloon Karnage- Kowloon has grown from its huge apartment blocks into a ginormous cyberpunk-ian and dystopian hellscape with the flying cars and an oppressive government. The lower fifty floors have elevators and giant driveways reaching the floors above and below with living spaces, while the thirty floors above are resolved for businesses and government offices controlled by the oppressive regime. And now with the Twisted Metal competition driving through town, the government is prepared to deal with any and all foreign opposition.

The Junkyard- Japan has changed radically since the end times happened; gone are technological insights as it's morphed into some sort of strange machine based body transmogrification cult, a society who has built and rebuilt itself so many times that it's basically a former shell of what it once was. The landscapes are strange, buildings are transformed into disturbing art pieces, and in the center the remaining civilians worship a fleshy pillar that a hooded group wishes to assimilate into as part of one constant being.

North Korea- Everybody in North Korea has seemingly vanished, absolutely no one in sight. No one is exactly sure where everyone went but everyone's belongings are still there and the turrets are still operational (though of course the nukes are gone). However every now and then you might find a scorch mark, and depending on where you go you might be able to find out what happened.

Africa:

The Oasis- A location that is free from all the failures of humanity, the Sphinx and all the pyramids are surprisingly untouched by the end of days, one of the only beacons of hope in this dire world. To people like Needles Kane however, it is the last place of peace that needs to be brought down to its knees and destroyed.

Johannesburg- Sadly the aftermath of the Apocalypse hasn't changed the situation that the colonial powers originally left them in. War torn and power hungry warlords still go to war against each other in this city, and the people suffer for it. If the competition is known for anything, it's known for its ability to destabilize any country's power. However, outside of the city, the former government had a plan of sorts: one which involved a dome and a city of only the brightest and wealthiest. If the Twisted Metal competition were to, say, level a meteor or something inside it could give them a wake up call they truly need.

Special Arenas:

Hell on Earth- The final arena of the story, Hell on Earth is a transformed landscape of all the previous maps; surrounded by hellfire, shadows, and a mysterious object in the center controlling it all: The Holland Windmill.

Dark Side of the Moon- The dark side of the moon, a place so barren and cold that no one knows what's on the other side. This competition will change that, and what you see will instantly make you regret joining the contest. You won't just be fighting other people, you'll be fighting yourself, your psyche, and things beyond your comprehension.
