I'm getting the screens out the way slowly, while they'll still be there, there will not be one every five seconds taking up a long part of the screen. Stat increases are slowly being pushed into a single line of thought or reaction unless it's vital to the plot, and so on.)

"Then why was everything so sore still?" Naruto thought as he blinked away his blurry vision. Why was it so bright, too? A figure shifted ever so slightly in the corner, and Naruto used his observe skill.

"Neko!" Naruto tried to sit up while skipping the rest of the stats, only half wondering why the woman was in his bedroom.

"Yeah! And you're in my room!" He grinned while scratching the back of his head.
"The doctor said… I will be right back." And she was gone in a burst of wind and leaves.
Silence.
"My favorite." He murmured. He looked around his room and stared in curiosity at the white walls and mundane paintings that lined them. "Am I in the hospital?"
Oh, right, the theater, what was it that the final notification had read? He had saved everyone, right? That was good. That was really good…
He willed the notifications to appear, and a screen blinked into view. 35 notifications. A lot of them were about damage taken, or him being poisoned, which was interesting. But for the most part, he only cared about the important ones, the quest.

Naruto couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief. He didn't care that he failed the mission, only that the others kids and everyone else were saved. If he hadn't of been there, who knows what would have happened. Or… would this have even happened if he didn't get this power? Was it actively causing issues? Like with that cat and dog? Or the things with Sasuke…

"No!" He shouted and immediately switched the ability off completely. He didn't want to just ignore the feelings. It helped with the fires, but now… now…
"Is everything alright, Naruto?" Neko was back, right next to his bed. As he turned to her, she placed a hand on his forehead. "You don't have a fever, that is good."
Naruto almost wished her hands didn't disappear back into her cloak. But knew that while she was nice, she didn't really care about him… just like everyone else…

He scowled at the screen, not believing it for a second. After all, who would actually care about him? He caused that fire because he had this ability. He did! If it weren't for—
"Naruto, please… speak to me." That hand was back, with its partner cupping his cheeks and turning him to face Neko.
"Neko…" She was close to him now, close enough to where he could see her eyes through the thin slits in her mask… He couldn't stop the tears that began to fall. "Neko!"
The woman caught him as he threw his arms around her. "It's okay, Naruto."
"Why! Why would it be alright?" He screamed into her shoulder. "People got hurt! People could have died!"
The door opened, but he didn't care.
"Naruto, most of the injures were minor. Only a few people were severely injured, but they'll make a full recovery with minimal scarring. You saved many lives."
His fists tightened in her cloak, "But that's not enough! Life isn't some game! Why! Why did it have to happen!? Why with the Orphanage? Haven't they gone through enough?" His voice fell off, and Naruto simply sobbed into the Anbu's cloak.
"Lord third," he heard her whisper, "I don't—"
"Just… be there, please, Neko." The old man said.
Her arms wrapped around him, pulling him close as he cried for who knows how long.
"Now my boy," Hirzuen Sarutobi asked sometime later after Naruto had calmed down. "I have some questions for you that I must ask, and ones I must request, you tell me truthfully. But before all that… I must tell you how proud I am of you. I've heard the full report from everyone involved, the workers, the caretakers, the Matron, even the children. Everything they have said about you is how much of a hero you were the other day."
Other day? Naruto wished this system had a clock or calendar or something.
"Not a single soul was lost, and of all the injures, only six were severe enough to require more than a day's stay here at the hospital. Of those six, you were one of them. Thankfully, an Anbu patrol arrived on the scene. From what Owl tells me, you were passing out as they came through the brush. However, they do say that your clones were not too helpful, as they all tried to talk at once, and then a massive brawl ensued. Thankfully… you somehow learned the Shadow Clone Jutsu, so it was dealt with quite efficiently."
Naruto remained silent as the man circled around to the real issue at hand.
"So, while you were a hero, and one who deserves recognition… I'm afraid I must as you where you learned such a dangerous jutsu?"
"Dangerous?"
"The Shadow Clone Jutsu works by splitting your chakra. Those who learn it without being prepared usually end up in the hospital, some end up with ruined chakra coils, and rarer still some end up dead… So tell me, Naruto. How did you learn this technique?"
Naruto knew he couldn't lie to the man, no matter how much he trusted him. But he definitely couldn't tell the old man the truth, not yet at least… though that would probably become a never at some point. Still, he could at least skirt the truth a bit. "I read about it, Jiji."
This caused the man to loosen his serious façade. "You? You read about it?"
"You don't have to sound so shocked…" Naruto grumbled to himself. "But yeah, I read about it near… uh…"
The man instantly leaned forward at the boy's hesitation, suspicion clear on his face, but there wasn't any need. Naruto simply couldn't remember.
"It was one of the training grounds near… dang it." Fine game, one back online.
He switched the Gamer's Mind Skill back on, mentally scowling, and instantly recalled the dungeon's name and area.
"Oh, yeah, it was a clearing near Training Ground 44! I helped this lady find her dog, and this giant bug appeared, and I kicked its butt before bringing it back to that lady."
"Council Woman Hibeki." The old man muttered to himself as the light of realization appeared behind his eye. "And I assume this is where you learned that water jutsu?"
Drat, someone must have ratted him out on that. He side-eyed Neko with betrayal. Ignoring the way, she turned away from his line of sight. But he quickly threw a grin back up and gave the man a thumbs up. "Yeah!"
"And would this have anything to do with your question about Elemental Natures the day before?"
Crud, he forgot about that. "Uh, yeah," what was it the man had called those things? Chakra Papers? "I thought you could choose you natures with those chakra paper things."
Which was the truth! Before talking to the old man and Iruka, he thought someone simply chose their nature, not that they were born with it. So still not a lie, and it was even connected.
"I see, and what were the Natures you ended up with?" The man had a great poker face, but Naruto could tell exactly what he wanted to know.
"Wind and Water! Lucky me, right! A nice balance."
But something was off about the man… a glint in his eye now. "Most people in Konoha have Fire or Earth, you know."
"Uh…"
"But thankfully there are those with Wind Nature, whether as a primary or a secondary. My own son, you know, has a Wind Nature."
"Really? Does he know anything cool to teach me?"
"I'm sorry, Naruto, but Academy Students can only be taught by their sensei, and even if I waived that exception for you, Asuma is still in the capital right now. He is one of the Fire Daimyo's 12 Guardians, and will not be back until this time next year. Though I will be sure to keep your nature in mind."
"Oh, cool." Naruto didn't really care if the man couldn't show him anything.
"Now then, Naruto. Once more I would like to reiterate, that what you did was amazing, and heroic. I, as well as Iruka, am quite proud of you. The children you rescued have all been clamoring for you to visit as well. Even the caretakers are asking for you to stop by."
"Really?" People actually wanted him to visit the place he was kicked out of?
"Perhaps sometime this week, after you've been discharged, at the very least."
"When will I be discharged?"
The man hummed to himself for a moment, considering his words. "I'm not quite sure, but judging from how you're looking, I'd suppose soon, tomorrow morning at the latest."
He could do that… A day's rest after the fire sounded fine. The old man stood, ruffling his hair one last time, before turning to the door and grabbing its handle.
"And, Naruto? I must say, while I know I am beating a dead horse… I am so proud of you, and just want to say, that the Will of Fire burns brightly in your righteous heart."
The man left, followed by Neko, who promised that she would be standing guard for a while, at least until the shift changed.
So, Naruto decided to pass the time by actually look through his notifications. First, he checked the rewards for the theater quest. He had failed the main quest, but past the hidden one, so.

He claimed everything and checked out the Perk first, frowning at what it represented.

A nice perk to have, especially if he ever fought anyone with a Fire Primary. Still, it was a bittersweet reward, but at least the old man had confirmed that no one died…
Naruto shook his head to clear out the darker thoughts, and continued on with the notifications, ignoring the damage ones, once more, something about corrosive charka, mental damage from too many clones popping at once, too much smoke inhalation, and the flames and wood themselves. But what really interested him was the level ups he received.

Beginner's Taijutsu Conditioning (Lvl 9 89%) E Rank: By conditioning the body and mind, your effectiveness with Taijutsu is increased. Grants 9% learning speed in Beginner Taijutsu styles and 9% STR.
Throwing Skill (Lvl 9 14%) E Rank: Throwing… do you really need an explanation? When throwing an item, Accuracy is calculated by adding up your Accuracy bonuses. (Current total with Shuriken or Kunai is 57%.) A 57% means you have a 57% chance of hitting your target dead on in the exact spot you are aiming for. The rest of the 43% is then divided by your Dex to see how much you missed your target.

Still, he was gaining on the boy, and quickly.
Soon, he'd get there, especially if he got more rewards from this Game. Speaking of, it was finally time to check out the achievements.

Naruto had to admit, the water jutsu he had was for one, much higher in level, especially as it just gained that new ability. Variable, whatever it was called. Maybe he could switch them when in combat, and change before a level up. That sounded good. Definitely would swap them—could clones use different titles? Did his clones have their own systems?
He activated the jutsu, and four carbon copies of himself arrived in the room.
"Hey, I can change mine!" One of them shouted before Naruto could even give the order.
"I guess you guys have my mind when I create you. Go ahead and change yours."
The first clone did, and Naruto glanced toward his Status Screen and realized his hadn't changed, however.
"Eh? Mine changed too," one of the others said, before changing it again.
"That changed it too."
"Yeah, I'm back to an Academy Student," the first one said.

Shadow Clone Jutsu: A Hidden Feature has been revealed. Clones can have a different title from their original version. Five different Titles can be equipped at once this way, six with the originals, however, these title slots only become unlocked every 25 Levels of the Skill. Happy Leveling!

Next chapter will slow it down a bit, we'll get some more story, and step away from the game a teensy bit. Might end up in the dungeon, though, so who knows?
