Status Update
Hi everybody. Thanks for reading my fanfic, My Life as A Teenage Commentator. I'm so happy with the comments lately and am working on the series as we speak. If you've been wondering why this fic is taking forever to update, it's because of outside interferences (being 30, my full time job, other fics, etc) and having doubts with my work. Please understand that I want to show my ideas to everyone and will expect some nay-sayers when it comes to "questionable" directions. Also, if the story feels weird to you readers, specify to me clearly. If it's dialogue, then that's because this is DBZA creator commentary meets MST3K riffs. This fic is also not going to be abandoned or dead until I finish it to my exact vision.
With that part dealt with, let me inform y'all some truths:
This fanfic takes place in a universe where the cartoon we watched in real life was done on a soundstage with directors, producers, cameras, stage crew, etc. Think that episode of OK K.O where they watched the pilot episode and you get the picture. Rob Renzetti, the creator of the show, was mentioned in the first chapter and someone mentioned why he is listed as "creator". What I meant to say is that he's responsible for creating the show, the lore, the characters, their personalities, the auditions, and whatever else he's done for Jenny and friends.
Sheldon Lee Oswald is going to be treated rather differently in this series for a majority of reasons. I do not enjoy how people treat Sheldon. I get we live in a socio-political world of caution where the Weinstein effect is ongoing but the overblown hatred of this character upsets me so much. It's not really Sheldon's fault as it's whoever was responsible with his dialogue and the network executives wanting to push this (because I highly doubt Rob himself wanted to continue with this "behavior"). I get that Sheldon's actions towards XJ-9 are horribly questionable in hindsight but: WHERE MANY OF YOUR FIRST ATTEMPTS AT DATING YOU SIG OTHER THAT DIFFERENT!? For this reason, Sheldon, in my world, is seen as the major reason why the fictional version of the show got extra seasons and is a loving family man with his kids being a guiding light in his life. (see below)
Omnios, while I enjoy your comments lately, let me fill you in with your character, Eric. I am happy with this inclusion and would like it if more people with OC characters would get introduced. However, when it comes to story building, once something's established, it must be canon. Otherwise, it leads to awkwardness. If Eric is acrophobic, tell me this in advance to avoid future awkwardness. Also, I am aware that I can use Star Trek instead of the generic name in the chapter 3, but, this fanfic also counts as social commentary and several "companies" are very "hesitant" towards sharing. In other words, the cast in this fic cannot mention Paramount owned properties (despite the show being owned by said company) due to them being anti-Paramount with Eric being anti-copyright infringement (it's a long story).
The Wakeman kids. Their introductions will be slow but worth it. They are my interpretation of what ShelJen looks like. The eldest child is Eartha Wakeman, age 24. The middle children are Doreck and Flynn Wakeman, age 15. The youngest kids are Norio and Audrey Wakeman, age 4. Each kid is based on the personality of Jenny/Jeanine Wakeman herself and their father's brain. Eartha, Sandy, Moira and Cree share their mother's sincere diligence and beauty. Blum, Flynn, and Rob Wakeman share their father's intellectuality and otakuness. Candi, Audrey, and Norio have their mother's cuteness but brattiness.
Here are the kids' ages and whatnots:
Eartha Wakeman. Age 24. 50% mother, 50% father. Likes green tea, hates cottage cheese.
Sandy Wakeman. Age 23. 85% mother, 15% father. Likes truffle pasta, dislikes cabernet sauvignon.
Masako Wakeman. Age 22. 25% mother, 75% father. Likes sushi, hates sashimi.
Cree Wakeman. Age 21. 75% mother, 25% father. Loves ramen, hates instant ramen.
Blum Wakeman. Age 19. 50% mother, 50% father. Loves udon & oden, hates caramelized onions.
Reccardi Wakeman. Age 18. 45% mother, 45% father, 10% other (don't think about it). Likes miso ramen, dislikes parsley (bad experiences).
Moira Wakeman. Age 17. 80% mother, 20% father. Likes flat whites and cortados, dislikes filet mignon.
Doreck Wakeman. Age 15. 10% mother, 90% father. Loves steak (fav cut: sirloin), chicken (dark meat mostly), and fish (fav: salmon), dislikes protein bars.
Flynn Wakeman. Age 15. 50% mother, 50% father. Likes caramel, dislikes toffee.
Rob Wakeman. Age 14. 35% mother, 65% father. Loves udon and soba, dislikes meat lover's pizza (ate one, never wanted to eat another again)
Candi Wakeman. Age 7. 95% mother, 5% father. Loves apples and cherries, dislikes lemon candy (I rather eat a real lemon)
Audrey Wakeman. Age 4 (later 5). 96% mother, 4% father. Loves green vegetables, hates baby food (NO MORE PLEASE)
Norio Wakeman. Age 4. 35% mother, 85% father (10% margin of error, don't think too much). Loves lobster and shrimp, dislikes raisins.
Quentin Wakeman. Age 6 months.
Unborn Wakeman twins. Age 5 months
