Summary: This is a crossover between Percy Jackson and Mass Effect. Commander Kate Shepard, commanding officer of the Normandy, was resurrected by Cerberus after the Normandy SR 1 was destroyed in a surprise attack by the Collectors. But even with her new mission, she couldn't forget her own mission, one that was passed down to her as a legacy of one of the greatest heroes Earth has ever known. When confronting the Collectors on Horizon, her family ring started glowing brightly, the first time it had done so in nearly 2 centuries. Meaning she had found her ancestor, the long lost demigod, Percy Jackson.

PS: The Shepard in this fanfic will be a Sentinel Paragon, with a few Renegade moments. For those who don't know, here are Shepard's powers as a Sentinel.

Throw, Overload, Warp, Cryo Blast, Tech Armor

Weapons: Heavy Pistol, Submachine Gun.

Disclaimer: I do not own Mass Effect or Percy Jackson. That honor belongs to Bioware and Rick Riordan

Chapter 1: Prologue the Awakening.

Arcturus Station 2183

Ambassador Donnel Udina pulled a file from the list of human candidates for the Spectres. He, Admiral Steven Hackett, and Captain David Anderson of the Normandy have been debating who to select as a quality human candidate for the Citadel Council to join the Special Tactics and Reconnaissance Units, also known as Spectres. The first two suggestions may have been interesting but one was horribly traumatized after his entire squad was killed in an ambush in Akuze, and the other was so reckless in Torfan his own squad died due to his actions. Udina read the file and asked "Well what about Kate Shepard? She's a spacer, lived aboard starships most of her life.

Anderson then commented with a smile, his XO being selected due to her own merit. "Military service runs in her family. Both her parents were in the navy. And she's a legacy of Annabeth Chase-Jackson, the biggest influence in uniting humanity and the pursuit of space travel in the 21st century."

Hackett also recounted Shepard's accomplishments "She proved herself in the Blitz. Held off enemy forces on the ground until reinforcements arrived." Anderson then added, "She's the reason Elysium is still standing!"

Udina kept studying Shepard's file trying to find any flaws. "We can't question her courage," he remarked. Anderson insisted however, "Humanity needs a hero. And Shepard's the best we've got."

Udina resigned himself to the Captain and Admiral's viewpoints and stated "I'll make the call." He then left to speak to the Council about humanity's Spectre candidate, leaving Hackett and Anderson alone.

Hackett turned to Anderson and asked "You mentioned Shepard being a legacy. Do you think that she can complete the mission our ancestors asked of us?" Anderson closed his eyes and took a deep breath before answering, "She has the best chance to fulfill it. And she's the most driven out of all the other legacies that attempted the search. Whether the galaxy will let her is another story."

Fast Forward 2185

Cerberus Base Lazarus Project

Alarms rang through the station as a lone light skinned woman lay on an operating table unconscious. Her hair was short black while her lips were a light red shade, her slim 5ft 8 body hiding a muscular physique. This was Kate Shepard, the hero of the Citadel that was declared MIA a few days after defeating Saren, when a ship of unknown origin attacked the Normandy SR-1 destroying it completely.

"Wake up Commander." a familiar voice screeched over the radio. Kate remembered the voice belonging to a woman called Miranda when she woke up prematurely. "Shepard, do you hear me? Get out of that bed now! This facility is under attack!" the voice insisted as Shepard slowly opened her eyes. Gunfire and explosions forced her to move. Grimacing in pain, she pushed herself off of the bed holding her ribs as the pain flared

"Shepard, your scars aren't healed but I need you to get moving!" the voice kept encouraging her to move. As Shepard sat up, she took a look at her surroundings, noticing lab equipment and a familiar insignia on the doors, a 3d logo with a black diamond coated with yellow highlights on the side 'What am I doing in a Cerberus facility?' she thought to herself before standing up. "There's a pistol on the other side of the room. Hurry!" Miranda insisted. Shepard saw the locker and ran towards it, opening it to find a version of her N7 armor and an M-3 Predator.

Once she grabbed the pistol she noticed something odd. "This pistol doesn't have a thermal clip." She stated. Miranda stated the obvious "It's a medbay, we'll get you a clip … DAMN IT. These canisters by the door are about to blow get behind cover NOW!" Shepard hurried to cover as the canisters exploded forcing the doors open. "Someone's hacking security trying to kill you. Look for a thermal clip for your pistol"

Shepard frowned at the constant instructions and growled as she grabbed a thermal clip from a dead Cerberus agent outside the medbay and vaulted over the rail setting up cover behind a barricade. As she was taking cover, her shields deflected shots from the stairs. Two LOKI Mechs were on the stairs descending as they shot at her. Shepard, wasting no time, used Tech Armor to fortify herself before firing back at the mechs, landing a headshot on one causing it to explode with the second staggered by the impact, leaving him exposed as Shepard took it down.

"Keep moving, we need to get you to the shuttles." Miranda ordered. Shepard climbed the stairs grabbing a thermal clip to reload before entering an Observation Deck. Hurrying to cover, she took down a mech that entered the room from the doors in front of her. She stayed in cover as three more Mechs came from another room. 'Whoever hacked these mechs didn't count on me waking up.' she thought to herself as she cast Overload on one mech causing the group to stagger as she opened fire on them. Once the mechs were dealt with, she explored the area where the mechs came from grabbing thermal clips left behind before heading out of the Observation Deck.

She watched a few Cerberus agents being gunned down by a YMIR Mech, a hulking Mech with a gatling gun on one arm and a rocket launcher on the other, from the other side of a bulletproof glass. Before she could say anything Miranda ordered "Don't waste time. I can't keep the mechs distracted for long." Following her lead, Shepard left the room and found herself in an overwatch position with an M-100 Grenade Launcher. She grabbed the heavy weapon and aimed down her sights as mechs entered the room below her. She launched a grenade at the mechs and watched the explosion knock the mechs down while causing a fuel tank to explode, fired bursting from an exposed section. She then took the elevator to her right and headed down before running through the fire, her upgraded shields protecting her from the fire with Miranda screeching at her to run.

"What I need now is instructions to get out of this facility. Not someone telling me how to be a soldier!" Kate yelled out as she entered the next room, annoyed at the constant chatter

Miranda sighed as she relented "Very well Shepard. You're heading the right way" suddenly the radio signal became weaker. Miranda, sounding more panicked, tried to get through to Shepard "Shep.. read m … Ive got …. closing in …position" before the radio went silent. "Damn it!" Shepard cursed as she kept moving. She entered a room and found two LOKI mechs crawling to the wall. Not taking any chances she gunned them down before studying the room, accessing data logs which covered the expanse of a project and another with Miranda detailing a subject's recovery process. Shepard concluded that the subject in question was herself but with mechs closing in she had no time to theorize what happened to her after the Normandy was blown up. She grabbed credits from a wall safe and left the room before heading down another corridor, ignoring a Cerberus agent being gunned down by a YMIR mech on the other side of another bulletproof glass.

She then found a battle in place as a dark-skinned soldier firing a pistol on mechs on the opposite side. She slid into cover next to him and returned fire "Shepard?! What the hell" the soldier gasped in surprise before returning fire at the mechs. Once the four mechs had been dealt with, the soldier then asked "What are you doing here? Thought you were still a work in progress."

"Are you with Miranda?" Shepard countered. "Yeah, sorry about that. Guess this is all new to you. I'm Jacob Taylor, I've been stationed here…" the soldier answered before being cut off by more gunfire. Cursing Jacob pulled out of cover and landed a headshot before heading back to cover "Things must be worse off if Miranda has you running around. I'll brief you later but first we have to get to the shuttle.

"I know this isn't the best time but I'm sick of stumbling around not knowing anything." Shepard demanded. Jacob understood before explaining "Fair enough, I'll give a quick version. You and your ship were attacked and destroyed. You were killed, dead as dead can be when we brought you here. Our scientists spent the next two years putting you back together. Welcome back to your life."

Shepard, stunned at the announcement, then stated, "This doesn't appear to be an Alliance facility" Jacob clarified "You're right. It's not. I can't say much more at this time. The Alliance declared you killed in action. The whole galaxy thinks you're dead. And if we don't get out of here, they will be right" Shepard was about to ask about her crew but Jacob interjected as more mechs arrived on the ledge "Look how about we play twenty questions AFTER we deal with these mechs. We're low on thermal clips but I'm a biotic so " Shepard nodded in agreement as they resorted to taking down the mechs. The two biotics then targeted the mechs with Pull/Throw combos decimating the mechs.

Once the coast was clear the two stood up. "Okay I promised to answer your questions. What do you want to know?" Jacob asked. Shepard then asked "The last thing I remember was the Normandy blowing up. Did anyone else make it."

"Just about everybody survived. A few servicemen from the lower decks didnt get out. Navigator Pressly was killed by an explosion." Jacob paused as Shepard looked down, her former XO killed along with her crew. "But everyone else, including the non-Alliance crew, the asari Liara and the quarian, made it out." Shepard, still upset over the deaths but hopeful that most of her crew were alive and well, then asked "Do you know what any of them are doing now?"

"I don't know Commander, it's been two years. They've moved on, left the Alliance. Could be anywhere." Shepard then interjected "They were my team. If they knew I was alive, they'd come back" adamant to find the rest of her crew.

"Maybe we could track them down after we get off this station." Jacob offered, trying to appease Shepard. 'Jacob is hiding it but I can tell he doesn't want to deceive me. He doesn't know I'm aware that he's Cerberus. But I'll let it slide for now. If he steps forward and tries to come clean, then he's earned my trust.' Shepard thought to herself as she then grilled the soldier with questions. She learned more about Jacob, a former Alliance soldier before becoming Miranda's lieutenant, the details about the attack and how the mechs attacked, making Jacob believe someone on the inside hacked the mechs, her own injuries which lead to Project Lazarus which lead to what the scientists had to do, and about Miranda the project lead. She noticed a bit of concern when Jacob asked her about Miranda's whereabouts and filed it for later. As they headed for the shuttle, they heard a voice on the intercom.

"Check Check. Is anyone on this frequency? Anyone still alive" the voice asked. Shepard recognized the voice, it was the one Miranda argued when she first woke up. Jacob then responded "Wilson? This is Jacob. I'm here with Commander Shepard. Just took out a wave of mechs in D Wing!"

"Shepard's alive?! How the hell … Never mind. You need to get him out of there. Get to the service tunnels and head for the network control room." Wilson staggered before ordering Jacob. Shepard frowned at the surprise in Wilson's tone. As if he didn't expect her to make it. Suspecting he was the one who overrode the mechs, she listened as Jacob accepted the directions before saying"I think I remember a Wilson checking on me when I first woke up."

Jacob confirmed "Yeah he's the chief medical tech. Answers directly to Miranda" giving Shepard another piece of evidence confirming Wilson was the one responsible. Ignoring her suspicions for now, she and Jacob went into the server tunnel only to be met with more mechs. They got to cover as Jacob yelled "Damn it Wilson, this tunnel is crawling with mechs," Wilso then fired back "This whole place is crawling with mechs! I'm doing the best I can!"

"Quiet both of you! Jacob, get to cover and return fire!" Shepard ordered as her armor was taken down, causing it to explode forcing the mechs back as she and Jacob took cover. With the mechs staggered, they took the mechs down "Wilson. Find us another route, preferably one without mechs." Jacob requested

"Just keep moving towards the control room. Try not to get pinned down. I'll see what I can do." Wilson answered. As they made their way around the tunnel Wilson shouted in pain "Ah they found me. Help! Server Room B. Hurry!"

Jacob and Shepard double timed it to the server room, accessing a log in which Miranda explained that Shepard was to be brought back the exact way she was. 'Hmm Miranda doesn't seem too happy with that order. The Illusive Man mustve countered a decision. He'll regret that later on. But for now I'll play nice' Shepard thought to herself as they headed to Wilson's position. They found him laying down holding his leg behind a barricade. "Jacob, Shepard down here." he strained. Once the two got close, Shepard was able to recognize the scientist "You were there when I first regained consciousness" she stated

"Yeah that was me. How about we talk after we fix my leg?" Shepard then stood up and walked towards a medical station on the wall, using her omni-tool to grab medi-gel before applying it to Wilson. With the medi-gel applied, the wound appeared to fix itself, allowing Wilson to stand gingerly. "Thanks. Never thought you would save my life Shepard. Guess that makes us even." he thanked before explaining "I thought I could shut down the security mechs. But whoever did this fried the whole system. Completely irreversible." Shepard scowled again as she studied the flaws in his statement. Why would a medical tech try to rewrite the security mechs? Jacob also found this puzzling "We weren't asking what you were doing. Why do you even have security clearance? You were in the bio wing." Jacob questioned, suspecting Wilson's involvement.

"Weren't you listening?! I came here to fix this. Besides I got shot" Wilson insisted, confirming Shepard's suspicions. But right now she couldn't afford to lose another gun. "You're all strangers to me. Let's get someplace safe, then we can discuss who's at fault." she ordered.

Jacob concurred "Right, Sherpard. We need to find Miranda, we can't leave her behind." Wilson however, countered "Forget about Miranda, she was over in D Wing, The mechs were all over that sector, there's no way she survived."

"A bunch of mechs won't stop Miranda. She's alive" Jacob asserted. Wilson then accused "Then where is she? Why haven't we heard from her? There are two possible explanations: either she's dead, or she's a traitor."

Shepard turned down that notion saying, "Miranda was the one who woke me up and warned me about the attack. Why would she do so if she's the traitor?" Shepard now knew that Wilson had a hand in this attack but decided to wait until they arrived at the shuttle. "Okay maybe not a traitor, but that doesn't change the fact that she's not here. Either way we have to go." Wilson took back his comment just as mechs attempted to take the room. Noting a barrel of explosives near the entrance the mechs took, she used Overload on it causing the barrel to explode, catching the mechs in the blast.

Shepard took point with Wilson and Jacob behind her when suddenly Jacob stopped and declared "Ok we took them down, but things are getting tense. Shepard, if I tell who we work for will you trust us?" Wilson backed off in alarm saying "This really isn't the time Jacob"

"I already know you're Cerberus, but thank you Jacob for coming clean" Shepard said to the shock of her two recent companions. Pointing at a logo on the door in front of them, she then stated "Cerberus isn't keen on secrecy, the entire facility and its staff are showing off its logo. What I want to know is why The Illusive Man spent so much on me, considering how I've killed several Cerberus soldiers who got in my way. But I'll ask him later when we're out of this place."

Jacob kept his mouth shut as he and Wilson followed Shepard out of the server room. They encountered more dead Cerberus agents as they got closer to the shuttle. However they were confronted with more LOKI mechs just outside the shuttle. After taking down the mechs on the floor below, they ascended only to find more mechs exiting from an adjacent corridor. With Overload, Pull, and Warp, the three dealt with the mechs. Feeling curious, Shepard entered the corridor, used her omni-tool to collect credits from the wall safe before finding a third data log, describing Shepard's injuries. Contemplating what she had suffered in the accident and how far it took for Miranda to bring her back, she then rejoined Jacob and Wilson and headed for the shuttle.

Once they reached the doors, Wilson hurriedly tried to open the door. "Come on the shuttle is right through" whatever he was about to say he stopped as the doors opened, revealing a 5 '8 woman with long flowing dark hair, wearing a tight catsuit which barely contained her assets. "Miranda! I thought you were." Wilson stuttered before Miranda shot him in the head, glaring down at his corpse as she completed his line of thought "dead?"

Shepard pulled her pistol up on her as Jacob demanded "What the hell are you doing?!" Miranda coldly answered "My job. Wilson betrayed us all.

Shepard kept her gun trained on Miranda stating, "You could've taken him in for questioning, see who he worked for." Miranda however retaliated "Too risky. I spent two whole years trying to bring you back to let you get killed now."

"Do you really think Wilson was capable of that?" Jacob asked, still unsure why Miranda was hasty in her judgment. Miranda looked down at Wilson's corpse before looking back up with a smirk "Not anymore." she said

Shepard then lowered her gun and asked "What's our next step then?" Miranda returned to being serious and stated "We get on the shuttle and go. My boss wants to speak with you."

Shepard crossed her arms and expressed "You mean The Illusive Man? I already know you're with Cerberus? And don't look at Jacob, your symbol gave it away."

Miranda frowned at Shepard and then asked "Well since you already know who we are, is there anything else you want to ask before we go Commander?"

Shepard realized that the longer she stayed the more likely the mechs would end up swarming the shuttle. So she grilled Miranda about the project, her location during the attack, potential survivors, and their next location, getting straight but cold responses in return. After getting all the answers she could she decided to go with Miranda and Jacob to meet the Illusive Man. as they entered, Shepard felt something round in her ammo-pack. Grabbing it she found a ring, the very same ring that was passed down to her from her ancestor through her mother. She waited until her companions were out of her line of sight before slipping it back where she found it. She couldn't afford to have Cerberus find out about her true origins.

Cerberus Shuttle

Miranda and Jacob sat across from Shepard in the shuttle as they were heading to meet The Illusive Man. Miranda however declared "Before you meet with The Illusive Man, we need to ask a few questions to evaluate your condition."

Jacob tried to butt in "What we have to do this now? Shepard took down those mechs with no problem. That has to be worth something" he asked.

Miranda however didn't back down, insisting "It's been two years since the attack. The Illusive Man needs to know that Shepard's personality and memories are intact. Ask the questions."

Before Jacob could ask, Shepard gasped the adrenaline rush wearing off allowing her to react to the shock that 2 years had passed since her 'demise' "Did you say two years? I've been gone that long?" she asked

Jacob confirmed "Two years and 12 days. And most of that time you were on an operating table."

Miranda cut him off "The sooner we start the better. Ask the questions"

Jacob sighed and then began the interrogation "Okay records show you were a spacer kid. Raised mostly on one ship or another. You enlisted and won a medal fighting batarians at the Skyllian Blitz. Do you remember that?"

Shepard steeled her eyes and kept her breath under control. Everyone had been calling her a hero on that day, but while she saved many lives, there were just as many lost that day when the batarians broke through. "A lot of lives depended on me that day holding that position. I did what I had to do." she replied.

"However you want to put it, it was damn impressive. I had friends who were there. Satisfied Miranda?" Jacob shot back at his superior officer. Mirando however didn't react and then asked "On Feros, you were tasked with eliminating the geth threat to the colony Zhu's Hope. And you found out what was controlling the colonists. Instead of taking them out in order to reach the Thorian, you used a nerve agent to paralyze them. Why?"

"The colonists were enslaved by the Thorian to do its bidding. They were innocent even when firing on me. I wasn't going to sacrifice their lives just to fulfill my goal" Shepard answered.

Miranda nodded and turned to Jacob. Jacob sighed and asked "While on Noveria you found a Rachni Queen that had been taken from its world. You let it go, despite having a chance to kill it. What made you free the rachni?"

Shepard took a deep breath and answered "The rachni queen realized that her species were being used against their will. As if they were indoctrinated. I couldn't doom an entire race for a had no idea with, even if the Council and my squad disagreed with me."

Miranda nodded as Shepard's memories had returned and her personality remained the same, the hero that did what she thought was best for the galaxy. But she then had to ask "Let's try with something recent. Virmire, where you destroyed Saren's breeding facility. You had to leave one of your crew behind to die in the blast." Shepard looked down as she remembered the sacrifice she made on that mission, and how close she came to losing two of her squad over a disagreement.

Jacob saw this but knew he had to finish the question "Lt Kaidan Alenko was killed in action. It was your call. Why did you leave him behind?" Shepard turned to the soldier with anger in her eyes stating "I left a friend to die that day and I didn't do it casually. I had to save as many people as I could. Kaidan gave his life for the rest of the team. Without him I couldn't have stopped Saren. He died a hero."

"I understand, Commander. And I wasn't judging your call. Everyone in Cerberus knows that facility had to be destroyed." Jacob added apologetically. Then he asked "In the battle of the Citadel, you were there in the mix fighting the geth and krogan to reach Saren. And you were given a choice, to open the arms and save the Council, or to wait until the Alliance was at full strength, thereby letting the Council die. You chose to save them, even though they ignored your warnings. Why?"

"The Citadel Council represents more than just the races they govern. They're the galactic governing body. Without the Council, the galaxy would be left in chaos which is what the Reapers want. I couldn't let them die even if they didn't listen. And I remember each and every ship we lost in the battle as a result." Shepard expressed without any hesitation.

"Perhaps, yet they were ready to cover up any evidence that you had brought to them." Miranda cynically stated before asking 1 final question. "When humanity was offered a spot on the Council the decision came down to you between Captain David Anderson and Ambassador Donnel Udina. Do you remember who you picked?"

"I chose Anderson for the sole reason that we needed someone who was willing to fight when all hope seems lost." Shepard confirmed.

Miranda regretfully stated "We really need to run more tests." to which Jacob intervened "Come on Miranda. The memories are there, and I could vouch for Shepard's combat skills personally." To which she relented as the shuttle arrived at their destination.

Miranda and Jacob exited the shuttle first as they prepared for another mission. Shepard exited after them as Miranda told her where to go in order to meet the Illusive Man. Heading down the stairs she found herself standing in the middle of a circular panel which then scanned her from head to toe. Suddenly she found herself staring at a hologram of a man sitting on his chair smoking a cigarette in front of a view of a dying sun. "Commander Shepard '' he greeted.

Recognizing the man in front of her based on the intel she answered back "Illusive Man. I thought we'd meet face to face."

"A necessary precaution given what we both know" The Illusive Man explained courteously.

Shepard however didn't take too kindly to the kindness "You might be the reason I'm still alive, but don't think for a second that I am going to trust you after what I'd seen your organization do." she said, glaring right at the head of Cerberus. The thought of the people that were tortured by Cerberus still fresh in her mind. Corporal Toombs, Admiral Kahoku and his team, the colonies that were threatened by rachni and Thorian Creepers in Cerberus's hunt for a supersoldier were permanent in her mind

The expression on TIM's (The Illusive Man) face hardened as he stated "You need to put your personal feelings aside. Humanity is up against its greatest threat of our brief existence"

Shepard now understood why Cerberus spent so much resources to bring her back "You mean the Reapers." she

"Good to see your memory is still intact. How are you feeling?" TIM asked, trying to change the subject.

"Spare me the pleasantries. You need to earn the right to ask me that kind of question" Shepard countered.

TIM sighed as he tried to explain "Cerberus isn't as evil as you might think. You and I are on the same side; we just have different methods."

Not wanting to waste time in argument especially deep within a Cerberus facility she interjected "Cut to the chase. What are the Reapers doing that forced you to bring me back?"

TIM then stood up and stated "We're at war. No one wants to admit it but humanity is under attack. While you've been sleeping, entire colonies have gone missing. Human colonies. We believe it's someone working for the Reapers, just as Saren and the geth served Sovereign. You've seen it yourself. You've bested all of them. That's one reason we chose you."

The sudden news of missing colonies caught her attention. "Sovereign was trying to harvest all life in the galaxy. Why would the Reapers target a few colonies?" she questioned, concerned at the lives already lost while she was decommissioned.

"Hundreds of thousands of colonists have vanished. I'd say this fits the definition of 'harvesting'. Nobody's paying attention because it's random, and the attacks occur in remote locations." TIM explained.

"If that's the case you need to mobilize the Alliance" Shepard countered, understandably angry at the numbers and lack of action.

"They suffered substantial losses fighting Sovereign. They're rebuilding, but are stretched too thin to investigate the Reaper threat. Blaming it on mercs and pirates is easier. And more convenient." TIM fired back. Shepard still glared at him, not convinced that he was innocent of the abductions either, but willing to accept the Reaper threat.

"Then why bring me back? With the money you spent you could've funded an entire army?" she demanded.

TIM cooly responded "You're unique. Not just in ability or experience, but in what you represent. You were the first Human Spectre. You stood for humanity at a key moment. You're not just a soldier, you're a symbol. And I don't know if the Reapers understand fear, but you killed one. That has to count for something."

Shepard weighed her options and the missing colonists in her mind. There was no way she could trust Cerberus. But if what she heard was true then she had to join forces with them in order to put an end to the Reaper's plans. "If what you say is true, if the Reapers are behind this, I'd consider helping you" she said, bile in her mouth from the thought of working with the group responsible for the trauma she encountered in her investigation two years ago.

"I would be disappointed if you accepted this without seeing it for yourself." TIM reasoned as he sat back down on his chair before smoking. He then offered "I have a shuttle ready to take you to Freedom's Progress, the latest colony to be abducted. Miranda and Jacob will brief you.

Recalling the two Cerberus officers she came with, she asked "Miranda killed a man in cold blood, and Jacob is a gun-for-hire. And I'm supposed to trust them?"

Sensing her doubts, TIM reasoned with her "Wilson was one of my best agents, but he betrayed me. Miranda did exactly what I expected of her. And she's the one who saved your life in more ways than one. As for Jacob, he's a soldier through and through. He's never fully trusted me, but he's also honest about it. You'll be fine with them for now."

Seeing no other options she relented "Well I guess I don't have a choice do I?"

"You always have a choice, Shepard. If you're not convinced or you don't find what you're looking for, we can part ways. But first go to Freedom's Progress, find any clues you can. Who's abducting the colonists? And what connection do they have to the Reapers" TIM ordered before disconnecting.

Shepard mulled over the situation at hand and began to theorize any suspects in mind as she climbed the stairs to rejoin Miranda and Jacob. The two seemed ready for action, Jacob with the eagerness of a soldier, while Miranda's cold attitude pushed her away. After talking with the two, she learned more about them. Jacob was an Alliance officer, a Corsair even. She didn't realize that a soldier with such prestige had been saddled with enough red tape that he felt that Cerberus was the answer. Talking with Miranda however, made Shepard realize how different she would've been as Miranda had stated that TIM stopped her from planting a control chip. She could tell however that despite her cold attitude that it was just a front. A gift she inherited from her ancestors let Shepard see the true feelings of the person she talked to. However she put it aside for now. Colonists were missing and she'd be damned if she let the perpetrators get away with it.

First chapter in a new story completed. Sorry for the long delay and for abandoning the other two storylines. This past year has been nothing but hardship after hardship and as such I gave up on writing new chapters. Everytime I tried I just couldn't find it in me to continue.

Now for disclaimers about the Shepard I'm creating. This is mostly a Paragon Shepard with a few Renegade moments here and there. She is also a legacy of Poseidon and Athena, from both Percy and Annabeth. And yes I will have her romance someone and no its not Liara and definitely not Jacob. Sorry to anyone who likes that option.

As for what's tying Mass Effect and Percy Jackson in this fanfic, let's just say the darkness won't be breached just yet.

Next Time: Shepard heads to Freedom's Progress where she will find who is behind the abductions.
