Episode 31: Tag-Team
Thirteen Years Ago
By day, Beach City is a somewhat normal and decent town. People come and go, indulging themselves in standard activities like going to the market, traversing along the boardwalk, relaxing on the sands, or even visiting Funland.
However... When the sun goes down, the hidden enjoyments of the town are revealed to those who seek it.
Just outside town lies a massive warehouse near the docks. The warehouse itself has large windows with cracks on them, graffiti around every corner of it, and small amounts of rust on any kind of metal. To many, nobody truly knows who owns this particular building, but what truly mattered about it was what was going on inside than out.
Within the confines of the building, stage-lights shined from above. In every corner lied large bleachers with various people sitting down and aiming their attention at the very center of the warehouse. Right in the middle of the building stood a humongous ring. However, while some people were looking at the ring itself, others looked at the individual standing outside of it and the two large ones inside of it.
The individual outside was a tall light-skinned woman with long purple hair ending at the middle of her waist, cerulean eyes, and some purple lipstick. The woman wore a very, very short black crop-top exposing her very slim stomach, ripped jean-shorts that really hugged her tush, a light-purple cap, and violet heels. Lastly the woman carried a smirk on her lips with a hand on her hips, putting her eyes on the large individual inside the ring.
Inside the ring standing in front of the woman was a very, very large tanned-skinned man with large black hair and brown eyes. The man wore a large white tank-top, black pants with chains wrapped around his torso and thighs, black boots, and spiked arm-bands. Letting out heavy breaths, the man placed all of his attention on his opponent while slowly curving his fingers every second.
Outside the ring a dark-skinned man locked his eyes on the large man and the cloaked individual within the ring. The man was bald with brown eyes, small mustache, and goatee. The man wore a yellow shirt with orange flowers on it, orange shorts, and brown sandals. He sat in a chair with a large table right in front of him alongside a microphone and some nachos on the side.
"Good evening everybody!" The bald man announced in the microphone. "I'm your host, Matthew Smiley. Tonight at Beach City's Underground Wrestling lies a very, very special event. Are ya'll ready for some action!?"
The crowd raised their voices, screaming as loud as they possibly could.
"That's what I like to hear!" Matthew said with a big grin. "To my right is our current champion of the ring. He's big, he's cruel, he'll send you straight to the hospital. Give it up for...Hank Hammer!"
Hank raised out his big strong arms and began flexing them to the crowd, making them yell and cheer for him.
"HAMMER! HAMMER! HAMMER! HAMMER! HAMMER!" The crowd chanted.
Hank smirked, soaking in all the praises given to him. Doesn't matter who he goes up against, he'll pound them so hard they'll regret ever gaining an interest in wrestling.
"Toxic." Hank said with a deep voice, gaining the woman behind him his attention. "After this, let's go even further in the circuit."
Toxic licked her lips, humming at hearing the big man's voice. "That's just what I was thinking, baby. No-one's ever been able to take down the Hammer, and soon the rest of the world will see it."
Hank grinned from his lady's words. That's right, he is the best. Always has been, always will be. And after tonight, his name is gonna be known worldwide. Only thing stopping him...is his opponent, a person wearing a stupid cloak.
"To my left, is a rookie new to the Underground." Matthew announced, having the audience look at the figure. "He's been pushing himself a lot to come here tonight. And now, he has the chance to face the Hammer. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you...The Purple Puma!"
Removing his cloak, the Purple Puma revealed himself to everyone around him, shooting a large grin and flexing his muscles.
"BOO!" The crowd called out.
Puma paid no mind to it. All that mattered right now...was taking on the Hammer.
The Hammer scoffed, "Please. Beating you is gonna be easy. My strength is better than yours."
Purple Puma kept his smirk up and raised out his arms, "Come on then."
DING! DING! DING!
At the sound of the bell going off, the Hammer and Purple Puma dashed toward one another. Upon coming up close they clasped each other's hands, bringing their faces dangerously close to each others. The Hammer snarled and growled at Purple Puma, glaring at him and clenching his teeth. Purple Puma kept his smirk up, never letting it vanish and slowly increasing his grip.
Back and forth they teetered themselves, raising their arms up high and then down low. Toxic, Matthew, and the audience locked their eyes on the two, wondering who was gonna win this.
In the audience sat a pale-skinned woman with long waist-length blonde hair, brown eyes, and some pink eye-shadow. She wore a light-teal shirt with ripped dark-blue jeans, a black biker-jacket with spikes on the shoulders, and white boots. The woman held a big grin on her lips, watching the Purple Puma. He's definitely got this in the bag.
"Go! Purple Puma!" The woman cheered.
Hearing her, Purple Puma chuckled and raised up his knee, aiming it at the Hammer's stomach. On impact the big guy gawked, decreasing his grip before releasing his hands. ...Big mistake on his part as Purple Puma leaped into the air and threw his arm at the Hammer's face. Soon after the Hammer rapidly dropped right onto the floor, shocking most of the crowd.
"Baby!" Toxic cried.
"Well, well, well. Looks like the Puma has shown his claws. The Hammer is down!" Matthew announced.
Walking around the ring, Purple Puma raised up his right arm, pointing his index finger toward the ceiling. Looking down at the Hammer, Purple Puma grabbed both of his legs, making the Hammer's eyes widen. Getting a good grip on the legs, Purple Puma started rotating his body. Round and and around, and around, and around he spun with the Hammer spinning with him.
"No way..." Toxic said in disbelief, watching her man getting spun like a top.
With another spin, Purple Puma turned around and released the Hammer from his grip, sending him right out of the ring. The crowd, Toxic, and Matthew all watched as the Hammer, the champion, was high in the air until he crashed right onto the ground. Groans exited the Hammer's mouth until he turned his head and closed his eyes.
DING! DING! DING!
The audience fell into silence, witness an unbelievable event that just took place. The Hammer...has fallen.
"YEAH! PURPLE PUMA! WOOO!" The woman in the crowd cheered.
The rest of the crowd then started following after, unleashing cheers and roars for the Puma.
Purple Puma closed his eyes for a second, taking in all the praises being given to him after a not-so tough match. Opening his eyes he turned his gaze at the audience he spotted his new friend Vidalia continuing to cheer for him, but...aside for her...a "certain someone" wasn't around.
"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, OUR NEW CHAMPION! PURPLE PUMA!" Matthew screamed.
Purple Puma kept his grin up, flexing his muscles for his newfound fans.
Exiting the warehouse the Purple Puma reverted himself back to Amethyst. Wearing her well-earned belt, she and Vidalia started walking along the sand with waves crashing in the background.
"Dude, you totally wrecked the Hammer. That was so awesome!" Vidalia said happily.
Amethyst snickered. "Thanks. I was just playing with him until I wanted to take him out." She added.
Vidalia blinked at her. "Really?"
Amethyst nodded. "Yeah. Matthew told me I should give the crowd a show instead of just focusing on getting the belt. Anything goes in wrestling, so why not add some dramatics?"
Vidalia hummed at Amethyst. That made sense because that's what wrestling is, putting on a show.
However, as Vidalia turned to look at Amethyst again she noticed her looking away and her grin then vanished. Huh...? Amethyst just took down the Hammer and...she isn't happy?
"You okay?" Vidalia asked.
Amethyst quickly turned to Vidalia and grinned, "Yeah, V. I'm all good."
"You sure?" Vidalia asked.
Amethyst nodded. "Yeah. Don't worry about me. Besides, I gotta think about what the next belt is gonna be. Whoever the next champion is, I'm so gonna wreck them."
Vidalia grinned at hearing that. Part of her does want to know what's up with Amethyst, but she decided to leave it alone. She was sure it wasn't that bad.
Soon enough the duo arrived back at the entrance of the Temple.
"Well, I gotta bail. Let me know when you wanna hangout again." Vidalia said.
"Cool." Amethyst replied.
The two then shared a fist bump before Vidalia walked off, heading back to town.
Seeing her walk off, Amethyst frowned a little and made her way toward the Temple. Walking pass the Warp Pad she approached the large door and it soon glowed purple before opening itself up and letting herself inside.
Going into her room Amethyst took off her belt and tossed it to the side. Up ahead she spotted a huge pile of her junk and fell right on it. A long sigh exited her mouth as she dug her head into her stuff.
'I should've known...' Amethyst thought to herself.
This sucks...
"Amethyst?"
Hearing her voice getting called, Amethyst turned around and saw Rose standing near her.
"Oh, hey Rose." Amethyst said with a deflated tone.
"Amethyst, I'm so sorry. I was with Greg and we were having a lot of fun that I loss track of time." Rose replied.
Getting up from her pile, Amethyst looked at Rose and shrugged while turning her head away. "It's fine. You've got a boyfriend now and you're doing your own thing. You're busy, so it's fine."
Rose walked up to Amethyst and raised out her hand, attempting to place it on Amethyst's head, but she took a step back, making Rose miss her.
"Amethyst." Rose said softly.
"I said it's fine, okay?" Amethyst replied angerly. "Just leave me alone and go back to Greg. Don't worry about me. Besides, I found someone else to hang with, so we both benefit."
Amethyst then started walking away, her hair covering her eyes as she gritted her teeth.
"Amethyst." Rose called, but no response was given. "Amethyst!" She called again, but nothing came back.
Watching her leave, Rose then bent her legs and leaped high into the air. Luckily Amethyst's room was large enough for her to do this. Flipping her body over, Rose landed on the ground in front of Amethyst.
Before Amethyst could speak Rose grabbed her by the shoulders and raised her up before pulling her toward her chest. A gasp exited Amethyst's mouth as Rose held her close, slowly increasing her embrace on her.
"Amethyst. I'm sorry I missed your big match. I forgot. But...just because I like being with Greg that doesn't mean I enjoy hanging out with you any less. This isn't okay. I'll make this up to you, I promise. I swear, next time when we don't have a mission, I'll be available for you. If you're mad at me, I deserve it. But please give me another chance to make this right." Rose said softly.
Hearing her words, Amethyst closed her eyes, taking in everything Rose told her. Ever since Greg came into their lives, Rose has been spending a lot more time with him than with her. At first, Amethyst didn't pay it any mind since she took a liking to the guy, but...when Rose was with him more...it made her angry. She wasn't sure why, but it did and though she likes Greg, Rose was important to her too.
"Okay." Amethyst replied softly. "I'll give you another chance."
Rose softly hummed at the response. "I love you."
Amethyst hummed a little, "I love you too, Big sis."
Present Time
Yes... Yes... This is exactly what she pictured in her mind. The best form of color, the environment surrounding her central work, and best of all...having Amethyst take part in it.
"Yo, V." Amethyst called, making Vidalia stop to turn her head to her longtime friend. "Don't wanna rush ya, but I can't hold this forever."
Vidalia chuckled a little. "I'm adding the finishing touches. Just a sec."
Sticking her tongue out a little, Vidalia slowly swirled her brush around on her creation until she pulled her brush back and dropped it into her cup of water. Retracting her tongue, she proudly smiled at her work. Took a while, but it was so worth it.
"Okay, Amethyst. It's done." Vidalia said.
On cue Amethyst reverted back to her base form and walked over to Vidalia to witness her latest creation. Coming up to V's side, Amethyst's visible eye widened and her lips slowly stretched into a large grin.
Right in front of the girls was an image of a large purple puma standing on a rock with several other pumas looking up at it. Behind the purple puma was a darkened sky with a bolt of lightning right behind it and several droplets of rain. The purple puma on the rock gave a intimidating look at the two, stretching out one of it's upper arms and clawing the rock.
This... This... This is the most badass thing Vidalia has painted.
"V... This is the coolest thing you've ever made." Amethyst commented.
"Thanks. It's all thanks to my amazing muse." Vidalia replied.
Amethyst shrugged and placed her hands behind her head. "One of the greatest perks on being a Gem. Shape-shifting is my unique talent."
Vidalia couldn't deny that. She was sure the rest of the Crystals can do it too, but Amethyst is definitely the master at it.
"So...anything going on with the family?" Vidalia asked.
Amethyst gave it a little bit of thought before answering, "Pearl and Greg are trying to figure out where Steven's going for high-school. Garnet is same-old, same-old. Steven made a new friend. And the Rainbows are coming over after Kameron gets done with school."
Kameron... Hearing that name brought some additional warmth into Vidalia's heart. Soon...she'll be able to see Christie again too. Thinking about her...just re-awakened some old memories in Vidalia's head, making her smile.
"That's sounds great. Can't wait to see Christie again." Vidalia replied softly.
Hearing the softness in her voice, Amethyst's grin shifted into a soft smile. It'll be cool having the Rainbows in Beach City again, only this time they'll be able to stay longer.
Just as Amethyst was about to say something else her visible eye quickly shot open.
"Oh, yeah. V. I've got a match coming up tonight. Wanna come see me wreck somebody up?" Amethyst said.
Turning to her, Vidalia opened her mouth to reply, but...her lips then shifted into a small frown.
"Sorry, Amethyst. I can't. I'm having a parent-teacher conference with Onion's teachers...again. Plus Sour Cream is staying afterschool and I gotta pick him up when he's done." Vidalia explained.
Amethyst's expression deflated a little hearing that. Yeah... Vidalia was a mom now with two sons. Marty is M.I.A, and that jerk left her long ago, and Yellowtail is on another long trip. So Vidalia had a lot on her plate at the moment.
"Oh...okay." Amethyst replied, turning her head away.
Vidalia raised out her arm, wrapping it around Amethyst and pulling her to her side.
"Hey, I'm free tomorrow. Wanna hang then?" Vidalia asked.
Amethyst slowly raised up her hand and softly removed Vidalia's arm from her.
"Nah, it's okay." Amethyst replied. "I gotta go anyway. Thanks for inviting me over."
Turning around Amethyst walked away from her friend and exited out of the garage. Vidalia attempted to speak up again, but the words didn't come out. One of the minor drawbacks on adulthood: When you have kids, you gotta put them first. That's something Vidalia Changkuai had to learn after Sour Cream was born.
Leaving Vidalia's house Amethyst made her way onto the sidewalk.
BUZZ! BUZZ! BUZZ!
Feeling a collection of vibrations going through her pants, Amethyst pulled out her phone and noticed Toxic calling her. With her thumb she answered it and placing it against her ear.
[Amethyst]: Yo, what's up?
[Toxic]: Hey, Amethyst. I'm sorry, but the Hammer isn't gonna be able to come tonight.
Amethyst blinked and narrowed her visible eye.
[Amethyst]: Why not? It's a tag-team event and at the end of the month we'll both win the belts.
[Toxic]: I know, I know. But my husband got into an accident and broke his leg. I'm sorry, but you're gonna have to find someone else.
Amethyst opened her mouth to speak, but Toxic then hung up on her. Removing her phone from her ear, Amethyst saw the call ending and gritted her teeth.
"Come on... Vidalia's busy, the Hammer is out. Where else am I gonna find a-" Amethyst said to herself before stopping herself.
Her lips then stretched upwards as she put her phone away. There was someone else that can take the Hammer's place. Turning herself around she lowered her upper-body and ran off.
Within Destiny City, Citrine stood up in front of a large building.
The building itself had seen better days. From top to bottom there were large cracks among the bricks and windows, although some were completely shattered. There were large holes made on the upper parts and some on the roof. The front entrance was missing it's door, but that was fine because it was inside and shredded beyond repair.
Spreading out his legs a little, Citrine held his large hammer in his hands and increased his grip on it. Narrowing his eyes he shifted his body to the left and raised his hammer up in the air. Lifting up his left leg he stomped right onto the ground, twisting his upper-body and rapidly lowering his arms.
SMASH!
His hammer soon made contact with the ground, releasing a booming clap. Soon after, a large crack began emerging from the concrete and made it's way toward the building. The crack grew little by little the more it traversed, and the moment it came up to the building the building itself started collapsing. Each piece of brick, wood, metal, and glass broke apart in a matter of seconds.
Lifting up his hammer, Citrine locked his eyes onto the demolished house. Now...it was nothing more than just a pile of rubble. He nodded at the destruction he caused before turning around to his boss and co-workers.
Zane cupped his chin, humming at what Citrine just did and smirked.
"Good job, ceetreenye." Zane said. "Comradyes, nov vye clyean."
The co-workers roared and quickly made their way pass Citrine with wheel-barrels.
"Ceetreenye, breeng styeyel byeams." Zane asked.
Giving his boss a nod, Citrine dismissed his hammer and turned his head to where the steel beams were. Making his away over to them Citrine raised out his arms to grab the top ones first, but as his fingers were about to touch the metal a small white cat landed right in front of him.
"Yo, big guy."
Citrine blinked at the cat that just spoke before it changed back into Amethyst. Sitting on the steel beam with her leg crossed over the other, she smugly looked at the big guy in front of her.
"Amethyst? What are you doing here?" Citrine asked, tilting his head.
"I was looking for you." Amethyst replied. "There's a wrestling match going on in Beach City tonight and my former partner ain't making it, so I was wondering if you'd be my partner instead?"
Wrestling match? Citrine hummed for a moment before giving it some thought, even though thinking sucks sometimes. Normally after work he'd go home, eat something, then rest in his room. But now Amethyst was asking him to be her partner.
"Will there be food?" Citrine asked.
"I'll make sure Matthew gets some good stuff. That count?" Amethyst replied.
Citrine's lips then stretched upwards at her response. "Sure. I'm in."
Amethyst grinned at his response. Yes! With the Purple Puma and...uh...she'll think about giving him a name later, but more importantly, with Citrine with her they're gonna dominate the ring with little effort.
PING!
Hearing his phone go off, Citrine pulled it out of his pocket and saw the Gem Icon before pressing it. Soon after the icon planted itself onto a location on the map. Once the location was shown Citrine put his phone away and took out his Warp Whistle from his Gemstone.
Amethyst sat up and jumped onto Citrine's shoulder before sitting on it and wrapping her arm around his neck.
"Boss!" Citrine yelled, gaining Zane's attention. "I have to go. I'm sorry, but the Motherland is in danger."
Hearing this, Zane narrowed his eyes and firmly nodded at Citrine, "Go. Protyectgyer."
Amethyst looked at Citrine with a confused expression. Motherland?
Before she could ask, Citrine blew into his whistle, warping them away.
In a flash, both Citrine and Amethyst arrived at their destination.
All around them the duo were surrounded by snow. The ground was fully covered in it, not allowing an ounce of grass to be seen. The trees were embraced by it, with some icicles hanging off of the branches. Up above the skies were covered in large herds of gray clouds, though some rays of sunlight did manage to break through.
"So is this the "Motherland" you mentioned?" Amethyst asked.
Citrine shifted his eyes to her and nodded. His lips slowly formed a grin.
BOOM!
Out of nowhere the duo shuttered at the sudden thunderclap erupting. Without wasting another minute, Citrine started moving with Amethyst still holding onto his neck.
Passing by numerous trees the duo made their way up a small hill and reached up to the top. Lowering their heads they spotted a small event taking place.
On their left was a large brown creature covered in white fur and sporting a large horn on top of it's head. Snarls exited the creature's mouth while it scraped the snow-covered surface, and wasting no time it started to charge toward the individual in front of it.
Standing in front of the large creature was a large man wearing a mechanized suit. The suit itself covered nearly his entire body in a unknown silver metal, only showing his mouth. His shoulder-plates and chest showcased a large red star with a white, blue and red stripes behind it. Although...the most strange aspect about the suit was the helmet. The helmet itself was in the shape of a bear's head and underneath the metallic bear's blue eyes were glowing white eyes from the man.
Raising out his muscular arms, the man grabbed onto the horn of the creature while his feet lightly slid back through the snow. Gritting his teeth the man increased his grip onto the horn before taking a step back and twisting his upper-body, throwing the creature behind him.
Watching the creature fly toward a tree and impacting it, the man rapidly man his way over to it and with his right arm his lunged it right into the creature's body.
POOF!
In a matter of seconds the creature's body exploded in a brown burst and a brown Gemstone fell onto the snow. Picking it up the man placed the Gemstone near his chest and a small pocket opened up, allowing him to place the Gemstone inside before the pocket closed up.
"Tsel' vypolnena." The man said with a deep voice in Russian.
"Privet, tovarishch."
Hearing his voice, the man turned around and saw Citrine and Amethyst approaching him. Upon seeing Citrine the man let out a small gasp and his lips started stretching upwards.
Once they got close Citrine raised out his arm to the man and in turn the man raised his out, interlocking his hand into Citrine's.
"Oranzhevyy Goliaf vozvrashchayetsya." The man said kindly. He then turned his eyes onto Amethyst. "I drug."
Amethyst tilted her head at the man, "Uh, yeah. I...guess?"
The man hummed as he and Citrine released their hands from each others.
"Ee saeed freeyend." The man replied with a Russian accent.
Amethyst's visible eye widened, "Oh... Yeah, that's me."
"Was that the only monster around?" Citrine asked.
The man shook his head, "No. My seestyer ees faceeng ozeyers."
"Medved." A feminine Russian voice called out.
Citrine, Amethyst, and Medved looked up to see where the voice came from. Up above them was a woman with fire shooting out from the top of her head and helmet. The woman wore a containment suit with the upper-body being white and having a large red star at the center, the lower-body being blue with dark-blue boots, and red shoulder-plates with red gauntlets. The woman also wore a dark-red face mask with small nozzles on each side of her cheeks. Lastly, the woman showcased yellow glowing eyes locked onto the people below her.
The woman lowered herself from the sky and placed her feet right onto the snow.
"YA vizhu, u nas yest' kompaniya." The woman said, approaching everyone.
When the woman joined the group Amethyst immediately jumped off of Citrine's shoulder, staring right at the woman with a large grin and a star pupil shining in her eye.
"Wow... You are right now the second amazing thing I've seen today." Amethyst said in awe.
Lowering her attention onto Amethyst, the woman narrowed her eyes before giving her a confused expression. ...Okay?
"Before we go and search for any more creatures, can you identify yourselves?" Citrine asked the large man and fire woman.
"My name ees Myedvyed Dragahnov." The large man said without hesitation.
"Ee am Angyeleena Dragahnov." The woman added.
Hearing the name "Dragunov," Citrine blinked at the two. It could be a coincidence since "Dragunov" is a common surname in Russia, but it didn't hurt to find out.
"Do you know a man named Zane Dragunov?" Citrine asked the two.
Hearing that name, both Medved and Angelina looked at each other before turning their attention back onto Citrine.
"Yoah knov oahr grandfazeyer?" Angelina asked.
Citrine nodded, "He's my boss back in America."
Medved hummed and crossed his arms, intrigued at the thought of his grandfather employing a Gem. Angelina too was curious and wanted to ask Citrine a plethora of questions.
WEE-WOO! WEE-WOO! WEE-WOO! WEE-WOO! WEE-WOO!
Out of nowhere a loud alarm started echoing through the air, making Citrine, Amethyst, Medved, and Angelina turn their heads toward it's direction.
"Oh boy. That's bad, right?" Amethyst asked around.
"Vyery." Angelina said with a serious tone. with both her hands she released streams of flames from her palms and took flight, heading straight to where the noise is coming from.
Watching her go, Medved immediately began to follow her with Citrine and Amethyst not far behind.
Passing by a numerous amount of trees, the group soon arrived at the source of the alarm.
Standing in front of them was a humongous building with several large speakers placed around it. On opposite sides of the building were these two enormous structures in the shapes of hourglasses and large radiation symbols at the center. The structures themselves were releasing huge amounts of smoke from way up top, although it looked like more and more smoke was coming out every second.
"Begat'! Begat'!"
Hearing the screams, the group turned to the large building to see a number of people wearing radiation suits running out. The last person coming out turned their head and stopped at the sight of the group.
"Monstry! Vnutri!" The individual screamed in Russian, pointing at the building.
Medved approached the individual and raised up his large hand before putting on the individuals head, making them look up to him.
"Doberites do bezopasnosti." Medved told them with a solemn tone.
The individual slowly nodded before Medved released his hand and the person quickly ran off, heading off with their co-workers.
"Leettlye onye." Angelina said, turning to Amethyst and gaining her attention. "Yoah comye veeze mye." She added, flying right into the plant.
Amethyst smirked and instantly followed her. Even though they just met, there was no way she was gonna pass up an opportunity to fight alongside someone like this.
"Try to survive, Citrine." Amethyst called out as she kept going.
Citrine merely watched her go as he and Medved followed after. Amethyst didn't really like being told what to do, so Citrine will let her do what she wants, but it will give him concerning thoughts considering the fact that they were entering a nuclear power plant. Anything can happen here in an instant.
Going inside the plant Citrine and Medved turned to the left and quickly went down a hallway while the alarm continued going off. From left to right they locked their eyes onto their surroundings and hadn't found a single person remaining. This put both of their minds at ease for the moment, but they couldn't really confirm it until it was true.
Coming up to a corner they both turned to the right and gasped at the sight in front of them. Just up ahead they spotted a little girl trapped behind a large array of metal. The little girl held her hands on her face and sobbed as loud as she could with endless tears dripping down her cheeks. How she got here, where she came from, why she was here raised a lot of questions for the duo, but what mattered right now was getting her to safety.
Right when the duo were about to reach her the wall near them suddenly busted open and from it a large creature came out, making the duo stop in their tracks. The creature was massive, about the same size as the duo, sporting a large horn on top of it's head. The creature was gray with white fur covering it head and back. It stood on it's legs with it's thick arms raised up and having a hunched back. Lastly, there was a large gray Gemstone right at the center of it's chest.
"Togyezeyer." Medved said.
"Wouldn't have it any other way." Citrine replied.
The creature released a ferocious roar and immediately charged straight at the duo. The duo lowered their upper-bodies and pushed themselves forward. Coming up to the creature Citrine pulled back his left arm while Medved pulled back his right. As soon as they got into close range with the creature both men threw their fists right toward the creature's face. On contact their fists pushed right into the creature's body and greatly pushed it back, sending it high into the air before it fell right back down.
The little girl's cries were halted when she removed her hands from her face and through her blurry vision she witnessed Citrine and Medved facing the creature. Small sobs exited her mouth, but she slowly wiped the tears from her eyes and kept watching them despite the situation she was in.
The creature let out a gasp and quickly rose itself from the ground. However, just before it could raised it's head the duo lifted both of their arms up high into the air and dropped it straight onto the creature's head.
POOF!
In a matter of seconds the creature erupted into a puff of gray smoke, leaving only it's Gemstone behind.
Raising out his hand, Citrine picked up the Gemstone before putting it in a orange bubble and sending it away. With the threat dealt with the duo turned their attention back onto the little girl.
Coming up to her Citrine and Medved grabbed onto some of the metal and carefully lifted it up before pushing it to the side. Medved then pushed away another large piece of metal before raising out his hand to the freed little girl. Lifting her hand the little girl placed it into Medved's before he gently helped her stand.
"S toboy vse v poryadke, snezhinka?" Citrine asked in Russian.
The little girl slowly nodded and raised both of her arms out. Medved lifted her up and gently placed her onto his shoulder.
"Sil'nyy medved'." The little said softly.
Medved hummed and nodded.
With the little girl now safe both men turned around and made their way back to the entrance. Once the little girl is safe, they'll return for Amethyst and Angelina.
Meanwhile Amethyst and Angelina were making their way in another part of the power plant.
While Amethyst was jogging she kept making glances at Angelina. It was hard on why since Angelina was floating and not to mention...she still had fire spewing out from the top of her head. That alone was just so cool.
"So, Angelina, how'd you become a lava-lamp?" Amethyst asked.
Angelina merely gave Amethyst a glance and continued moving without uttering a word.
"Uh, Miss Lava-lamp. I asked you a question." Amethyst asked again.
"Not yoahr concyern." Angelina replied in annoyance while she and Amethyst turned a corner.
"C'mon. It's kinda obvious that you and Medved work for D.H.P., so you gotta tell me. Some freak accident? Are you fused with somebody? Or are you using Gem-tech?" Amethyst asked.
Angelina narrowed her eyes with a small growl exiting her lips. They both have an important job to do, so now wasn't the time for a Crystal Gem to get to know her. Besides... it's not like her and Medved wanted to look like the way they do now.
Before Angelina could reply, she and Amethyst entered a new area. They were now standing on a long platform with a large quantity of water right below them and a huge reactor core submerged within it.
"Okay... This place definitely looks important." Amethyst said.
"Eet ees nahclyear ryeactor." Angelina replied, turning her head from left to right.
Lifting her head up Angelina soon flew straight up toward an upper console. Amethyst summoned her whip and grappled onto a pipe and swung herself to the upper floor. Flipping in the air, Amethyst landed onto the platform and came up to Angelina as she was typing on the console. Turning her head, Amethyst's visible eye widened before she narrowed it and slowly lowered her upper-body.
"I think I found the one who set off the alarm." Amethyst said.
Hearing her, Angelina turned her head and took notice of what the Crystal Gem was taking about. Several feet away from them a large creature walked right out of the shadows. The creature was large and gray with a rainbow-esque set of fur on it's head and back. It's right hand was in the form of a mallet while it's left hand looked like a slice blade and it's legs were made into stumps, but the strange thing about this creature was it's Gemstone. It was in the form of a square, but it's inner layers could be seen.
The creature released a loud roar before it started charging at the duo.
Amethyst leaped into air and launched her whip at the creature. On impact the whip did make contact with it, but held no effect as the creature continued charging. Twisting her body in the air, Amethyst landed back on the platform and summoned a second whip before launching both of them at the creature's arms. On contact both whip coiled around the creature's arms right as Amethyst pulled them back, but instead of stopping it in it's tracks Amethyst was instead flung through the air until she hit the monster's back and fell onto the platform with a thud.
The creature then turned around, putting it's attention onto Amethyst. Releasing a small growl, it began to approach her before raising up it's mallet arm. Right when it was about to smash Amethyst a stream of flames impacted it's back, making the monster howl and rapidly turn around to see Angelina floating in the air.
Raising her arms out, Angelina unleashed a large stream of flames from her palms, aiming it right onto the monster. More howls exited it's mouth, but while Angelina was cooking it Amethyst got up and lowered her upper-body before wrapping herself with her whips and forming a ball. She continuously kept spinning herself in place while her ball form was getting larger due to her own flames. Seeing what Amethyst was about to do, Angelina stopped her flames and Amethyst shot herself right at it.
This time on impact the creature got pushed back and crashed right into a wall. Uncurling herself, Amethyst glared at the monster and launched her whips at it again, only this time they were covered it purple flames. Coiling around the creature, howls exited it's mouth just as Amethyst flung herself at it again, except now she twirled herself around the monster, wrapping it into her whips even more and pulling on it as tight as she could.
"Lava-lamp! End it!" Amethyst yelled.
Giving her a nod, Angelina burst toward the wailing monster. Coming in close, blades made from nuclear energy came out of Angelina's upper knuckles and pierced themselves right into the monster's body.
POOF!
The creature released one last wail before it ultimately exploded in a puff of gray smoke and it's Gemstone then fell right onto the platform. Retracting her blades, Angelina picked up the Gemstone and placed it near her stomach, opening a secret compartment of her suit and placing the Gemstone inside. After the compartment closed itself up Angelina walked over to the console and pressed a large green button, halting the alarms and bringing silence to the plant.
"Nice finisher, Lava-lamp." Amethyst said, dismissing her whips and getting up from the platform.
Angelina narrowed her eyes and turned her head away from the Crystal Gem, "Eegavye namye." Angelina replied.
Amethyst smirked but decided to give her a little break. Walking up to her, Amethyst raised out her hand, making Angelina turn her head to see the Crystal Gem offering her hand. Lifting up her own hand, Angelina connected it with Amethyst's before they shook. When they retracted Angelina released a small sigh.
"Ee vas not alvays leekye zeees." Angelina said softly. "Ee vasgahman. Baht, ee byecomye zeees for my fameely."
Amethyst lightly frowned hearing that. Huh... She had Angelina all wrong and now she knows why she looks like the way she does now.
"I know the feeling." Amethyst admitted, turning her head to the side. "I'm not...who I'm suppose to be. Even if people tell me I can be anything I want, I really can't. But...your reasons have more value than mine."
Angelina lightly tilted her head to the side, wondering what Amethyst meant by that.
"C'mon, let's got meet up with the guys before something else happens." Amethyst said before jumping onto the lower platform.
As she started walking Amethyst lightly shook her head a little. It's fine, she's fine. It doesn't matter if she isn't who she was suppose to be. She's fine the way she is.
Besides, she's got a match tonight, so busting some skulls will definitely help her forget about the negative.
