THE HOLY GRAIL AND THRONE OF HEROES
Musutafu Streets- Afternoon
The sunlight from the hole in the broken ceiling shines upon the female Knight as she stares at the quirkless boy she has rescued, along with Komari, from the group of thugs. The Ruler Class Servant waits for the answer given to her by the Master who has summoned her into this realm.
The chosen Master, however, can only stare dumbfounded at his savior and everyone else there as Ren leads there with his back against the wall, bewildered at the female Knight's sudden appearance and the fact that this was the same girl from his dream.
Then a thought came to Ren's mind as he remembered what the girl called herself just now.
Jeanne d'Arc? As in Joan of Arc or otherwise known as Jeanne d'Arc, the Maid of Orléans... That Jeanne d'Arc?! The same famous historical woman and national heroine of France, who played a crucial role in the Hundred Years' War by inspiring the French army and contributing to key victories that eventually led to the French victory at the Battle of Castillon in 1453, which marked the war's end; although later she was captured by the English army and tragically executed as a heretic in 1431.
He was very familiar with the history of France since his parents were archaeologists and they would spend time teaching him things about human history.
But was this woman in front of him the real Jeanne d'Arc or just some random hero using one of history's greatest heroes' names?
"W-What…?" Ren uttered, trying to find the right words as he managed to find his voice, albeit not very subtly, as long blonde hair flowed freely down her backside while the spearhead to the cloth wrapped around a pole to the person using it.
Most striking of all however was when Jeanne slightly kneeled to his level, hand outstretched towards her new Master and offering to help Ren up. She looked really happy, excited even. It did not change Ren's expression though, his cheeks were tomato red, overwhelmed by the entire experience before he was assisted up and somehow regaining his footing after those several punches and cut to the ankle he had received earlier.
"I am Servant Ruler. I ask you, are you, my master?" Jeanne asked Ren again, who was still in a state of confusion.
"E-Eh?" Ren muttered with wide eyes as he was beyond confused right now.
"Um, Master?" The Maid of Orléans asked, slightly tilting her head in confusion. "Weren't you the one who has called upon me Master? Or has this summoning had been unintentional on your-."
" W-Wait what? M-Master? W-Why are you calling me Master? I-I don't understand..." Ren said to himself before glancing down at his right hand and saw in surprise the command seal in his right hand. "What in the world is this? I don't remember having something like this being on my hand." While he stared at the mark, the Servant Ruler stared at her supposed Master.
"Oh, I see now…" Ruler mused out as it would appear that her Master is unaware of Servants and Holy Grail Wars.
Not that she minded, of course, she quite preferred having people like him as her Master. It felt, soothing to have someone who is naïve but at the same time, pure and good at heart. Jeanne then glanced down to focus on the mark on his left hand and confirm that their path between them was made before speaking to him once more.
"It seems the contract is sealed, Master," Jeanne said in a joyful tone while getting his attention back on her. "Sorry, it took a little longer but I finally made it. I am your sword and shield, and I look forward to being in your servitude, Master." She stated before bowing respectfully to acknowledge her new Master.
Ren just quietly looked at this Jeanne d'Arc introduced herself as a servant of some kind with one thought coming to his mind.
WHAT THE HELL WAS GOING ON RIGHT NOW?!
Meanwhile, the others there watched the exchange in silence and had their jaws drop with Komari looked at the armored woman and assumed she was a Pro hero here to rescue them from these thugs given her attire.
The Eighth clan member had utter confusion and surprised expressions about this newcomer addressing the kid who picked a fight with them as she called him master.
But Wang was the first to regain his composure, as he took a good look at this blonde woman's powerful aura she was giving off. He wasn't an idiot. It didn't take a genius to figure out what this chick was, even when you didn't take into account the literal sword strapped to her hip and the flag spear in her hand.
The woman was a Pro Hero, but one he didn't recognize.
And a strong one at that if she can give off an intense presence like this without even trying.
"What's going on here?!" Wang shouted loud enough to break everyone out of their stupors and turned in his direction. "I don't know who you are bitch and I don't care! But don't think for a second that any of you are safe now that a hero is a hero to save that day! You all are going to die like the insect you are by the eighth clan!" He declared psychotically while activating your power and surrounding himself in a bright aura.
The other Eighth clan members who were somewhat confused heard their boss's words and readied themselves with them activating their powers as well.
Komari quietly screeches in terror at the villain's sights back on them, while Jeanne remains unfazed by their presence.
"Damn, I forgot about them," Ren stated exclaimed in frustration, as he glared at the gang of thugs while holding his hurt side.
Komari quietly screeches in terror at the villain's sights back on them, while Jeanne remains unfazed by their presence as she observes the group of aggravated men with a critical gaze and the surrounding area.
She noticed that some of the Eighth clan members had mutants and strange appearances while showing off abilities that clearly weren't Magecraft. The information she receives when arriving in this world informs her that humanity has gained supernatural-like abilities called quirks. Their appearance has since marked a great change within the economic society. However, it also gave rise to empowered criminals called Villains. Thus, another empowered group called Heroes is assembled to combat the growing threat. It would also appear that the Pro Heroes here would not only gain government pay but also celebrity status.
So the Ruler Servant already has the basic knowledge she needs to know about how this new world works.
In this world, abilities such as Magecraft do not exist here. As such, organizations such as the Mage Association and the Holy Church, are nonexistent. There was no need for Ruler to hide her identity, but at the same time, there was no Holy Grail War to be held here despite her sensing the presence of the Grail here in this world.
But that wasn't important right now as it didn't take too long for Jeanne to figure out what was happening in front of her while looking at her new Matser's injured state, Komari's terrified expression, and the Eighth clan members' barbaric behavior.
"I see... Then it must come to this then..." Jeanne stated quietly but sternly, as she turned to face with a serious look on her beautiful faces. "In the name of the lord, you shall not lay a finger on my Master nor this woman!" The young woman stated simply, but with an undercurrent of confident resolve.
"Did that chick just mock us?!"
"She Thinks she can take us all on?! Don't make me laugh!"
"Either way they're still going down! Let's get them!"
Ren looked at her in surprise and knew what she was planning on doing before speaking up. "Hey... Don't tell me you are going to fac-"
"Master." Jeanne interrupted her Master from speaking any further with a firm but soft tone, even know she didn't shout at him. But it was enough to quiet anyone and force them to listen without question. "Please stay back and leave this to me. As your Servant, it is my duty to fight and protect you from those who mean to harm you."
Ren looked at Jeanne's back with a strange expression for a good few seconds before doing what she told him.
"Okay... But don't kill them, just knock them out for now." Ren said before stepping back and leaving this to her.
"Very, well Master," Jeanne replied with a nod, then immediately spun her flagpole Luminosité Eternelle around with both grace and skill before taking a combat stance. "Now come, and let me show you the error of your ways!"
The Eighth clan may have numbers on their side but that didn't matter much to Jeanne's mind. With her experience as a Heroic Spirit, there was no doubt that she could handle many of these superpowers without issue.
"The way she's holding her spear and that stance..." Ren thought while observing Ruler with wide eyes. "It's flawless. I can't find an opening in her defenses." He thought as only a trained eye like his could notice this.
"Oh, I love a feisty girl..." Wang said with a crazy look in his eyes while licking his lips sadistically. "It makes it much more fun when I break them. Have at here boys!"
The villains began sprinting towards Jeanne in a group readying their quirks. But Jeanne did not wavered by their numbers and then adjusted her foot a bit before taking off at the group of two-bit thugs in a burst of blinding speed too fast for the necked eye to see and piledrives through the thugs with a devastating blow from her banner in a split second and creating a gust of wind that sends more than half of them hurling away like ragdolls, screaming in pain before passing out.
Seeing this utterly astonished everyone there, as they were shocked by the Servant's speed and power.
The banner then slammed into three more grunts as Jeanne swung it like a hammer, striking them out cold before dashing at her next targets in a burst of speed while evading their long-range attacks with minimal effort. When she got closer the female Servant spun the flagpole ripply around to defect the incoming projectiles before getting close enough to strike her weapon in their bodies sending them in the air and taking them down.
More Eighth clan members attacked her from all sides, only for Jeanne to maneuver around their assault with superhuman agility and flexibility while striking them with her flagpole before slamming the banner and using it to spin her whole in a circular motion that bluntly kicks them back.
But it didn't last for long as Jeanne started to continue to lay waste to the Eighth clan members as she charged ahead to strike at each villain both quickly and effectively with hits strong each to permanently knock out a foe with great ease by using her flagpole to smack incoming attacks coming her way or anyone closes to her.
Meanwhile, on the sidelines, Ren and Komari were watching in awestruck at the Heroic Spirit laying a one-sided beat down on the gang of thugs and not even breaking a sweat.
She controlled the tempo of the fight with ease. She positioned her opponents in front of one another and stopped them from simply ganging up on the Servant.
"She's amazing," Komari commented in pure awe at the sigh of the Servant's skills.
Ren quietly agreed with the preschool teacher as a Marital Artist himself and having seen tons of hero fights online he developed a trained eye when it comes to combatants holding back. Jeanne was holding back as her swings and thrusts could match the power of the pro hero, it was clear from her expression and the way fighting that the Servant could output much more than what she was showing.
Then after taking down the last remaining thug, Jeanne stood surrounded by the unconscious bodies on the floor of the multi-story parking lot with her gaze shifted to their leader who looked downright furious.
"You... You fucking bitch!" Wang shouted in rage at how this 'hero' took out in men in less than 30 seconds without even trying. "You're going to regret ever crossing the Eighth clan by the time I'm done with you!"
"I advise you to make this easier on yourself and surrender now, while you still have the chance." The French woman stated firmly, expression stern while staring at the Eighth clan leader.
"As if, lady! You're so fucking DEAD!" Wang replies angrily at the Ruler Class Servant. "I won't be sacrificed until you're all six feet under!"
"Then you leave me no other choice," Jeanne rebutted sternly at the villain's refusal to surrender, then raised her holy battle flag. "Your days of harming the innocent, are over!"
"I can take on a simple little girl with no problem. Prepare to die, bitch!" Wang said rushing at her quickly with inhuman speed while his quirk boosted his physical abilities and started wildly throwing rapid punches at the Servants.
But Jeanne stood firm blocking all of Wang's strikes without little difficulty, as Wang's frustration started to get the best of him with Jeanne stopping every single of his enhanced punches say easily.
Then Wang jumped back to get some distance before his body tensed up, survival instincts suddenly flaring as he leaped back again just in time to avoid the spear time that impaled the ground where he stood. His eyes widened at the speed, whirling towards the woman in time to see her moving towards her with speed surpassing her previous one from before. Thinking quickly Wang flipped back, swinging a leg out and knocking the spearhead off-target, letting it pierce the air beside him instead of his stomach but felt a sharp jolt of pain the moment he kicked the battle flag.
Wang landed on top of a car, not wasting a moment before rushing at the blonde armored woman, throwing a strong punch with all his might the moment he got close. Then Jeanne reacted swiftly, raising her battle standard into a defensive position and letting the villain's fist strike the pole. Much to Wang's surprise, it didn't snap like a twig as the gang leader expected, instead, all it did was knock the woman back a foot at most. Wang's expression was utterly livid with rage as he had put all his strength into that punch, and yet the most it did was send her back a step.
Then Wang's surprise was capitalized on, as Jeanne pulled back a step before swinging her flagpole out. The sharp blade cut through his shirt, the blade passing through his skin and cutting a thin gash along his stomach, making him howl from the pain before receiving a massive kick to the stomach that sends Wang hurling back toward the ground in agony.
It was a chilling realization to notice that had he not been for his quirk, she would've likely cut him in half. Luckily at the time, Jeanne was holding back greatly to make sure she didn't kill him by mistake.
"She's holding him back for now but for how long,'' Komari mutters to herself as Jeanne and the villain continue to trade blows with the knight having the upper hand in this battle. "I've never seen a fight like this one before. But where did she come from anyway? I never seen I Pro like her before." She said out loud wondering if this heroine was a new up-and-coming hero just starting.
"Believe me I'm just as confused as you. Also, I don't think she's a Pro." Ren said while his eyes never left the fight. "No doubt the local heroes are rushing here with the police force, they all must have seen that golded flaming pillar all over the city." He thought as if the gods were listening he heard the loud blaring of distant sirens coming closer to the location.
There was silence for a brief moment as Wang begins huffing for breath staring down his foe yet again. He hadn't done any damage to that damn woman but he was starting to get definitely tired. The loud blaring of the sirens wasn't making it easier until Jeanne spoke up.
"With your current level of strength, you can't break Luminosite Eternelle," Jeanne stated as she parried more of his attacks with her battle flag while showing no sign of struggling.
"Damit," Wang said while recovering from her blow and leaped back, guard raised. "Where the hell did this power come from?! She can't be that much stronger than me, and yet she's finning off my blows even with my quirk power! Not only that but it feels like my hands are punching an iron wall, and I can break through iron damn it!" He thought in rage as the woman's face did not reveal a hint of what she was feeling, but had a stoic expression.
He's been in plenty of death matches before and killed his far number of people that crossed him, but no one up till now has given him this much trouble in a brawl like this blonde chick.
"It's clear that the outcome of this battle has already been decided. So please stop this pointless struggle and surrender." Jeanne ordered the villain firmly but with a stern voice.
Then Wang started to let out a crazy psychotic laugh, as he heard the best joke ever from the Heroic Spirit.
"Surrender?! Not a chance in hell! I'M GOING TO KILL YOU IF IT'S THE LAST THING I DO BEFORE THEY LOCK ME UP!" Wang declares as he had no intention of quitting until he personally kills them.
''Then I will have to prevent you from doing that.'' The Ruler Servant stated simply, but with an undercurrent of grim determination. "I'm ending this with my next attack." The Saint raised her battle flag again, intent on charging first to make the strike by leaping forward.
"Don't think I won't go down without a fight!" Wang declared while using his quirk at full power and rushes at the Servant like a savage animal.
The two were closing in on one another, Wang looked like a feral wild beast with absolutely no self-control while Jeanne had worn a serious expression of an epic hero ready to strike down evil at all cost. As we're within range from one another, Wang threw a right hang at her only for Jeanne to evade the punch by shifting her body slightly to the side in mid-air then swung the battle flag straight into the man's face with enough force to create a shockwave effect.
"AGGHHH…" Wang yelled out barely conscious now while being sent flying straight towards a flat-over car and crashing into it, before landing on the ground and passing out unconsciously.
As the Eight clan leader was down, Jeanne looked over to see the man not showing any response of getting back up, along with the rest of the gang members.
"May God forgive all of your sins..." Jeanne exclaimed before calmly letting out a breath of relief that the battle had finally passed while making the banner in her hand disappear in a golden flash of light and then approaching Ren and Komari who looked awestruck at the Servant's display of skills.
"S-She's did it... It's finally over..." Komari said in a tone of both joy and relief, while on the brink of crying again.
"Yeah..." Ren quietly agreed with the preschool teacher as he watched Jeanne walking, before stopping in front of the two and giving a gentle smile.
"It is done. I am glad to see that you and this woman are safe from these villains, Master." Jeanne said with a blissful tone as she placed a hand over her chest.
Ren blushed a bit from her expression and soft voice as he had a hard time trying to speak up to her.
"Excuse me, miss," Komari said getting the Servant's attention before standing up from the floor. "Thank you for rescuing me and this brave young man. If not for the both of you then I... t-then I-I..." She said starting to tear up a bit from the unthinkable thought of what would have happened to her if things played out differently.
Then the preschool teacher felt a hand gently touching her shoulder and made Komari look up to see it was the Ruler Servant trying to calm her down.
"It's okay, miss. The danger has passed." Jeanne said with a reinsured smile. "I promise they won't hurt you ever again." She stated before Komari started crying in relief. Then after comforting the teacher, the Servant turned to her Master who's been silent this whole time. "And you did an excellent job helping this woman as well Master." She admitted.
"I-I-I... uhh..." Ren tried to say but couldn't for some reason, while being unable to speak properly to the France woman.
"Master? Are you alright? Is your injuries more badly than I originally thought?" Jeanne asked her Master in concern, as he looked too uncomfortable.
"No! I'm fine! It's not as bad as it looks, really!" Ren quickly replied to her as he finally found his voice to speak. "Anyway, thanks for saving us back there with those guys."
"Your gratitude is unnecessary but appreciated nonetheless." The Ruler Servant shook her head. "As my Master, it is a Servant's sworn duty to place your needs above our own. Such as the contract between the one who has summoned us, and the one who has answered your call." She said as that statement caused the young boy to blink, In confusion.
"Seriously, what do you mean by Master? I'm not a Master of anyone." Ren asked, not quite getting the last one.
"But you are, for I was summoned to fulfill the request for assistance by you." The Servant replied with her head slightly tilted to the side.
"Summoned? What does she mean by that?" Ren thought confusingly at what this lady was talking about.
Ren was about to ask another question to the beautiful blonde woman only for them to be interrupted by an unexpected surprise.
"Nobody, move!" A voice of authority ordered out loudly.
The group of three then saw the police force finally arriving on the scene with several Pro Heroes in the area after seeing that golden pillar of light sudden appearance.
The first is a man wearing a plain crimson bodysuit, plates of white armor attached to his elbows, knees, and lower arms. He wears matching knee-high boots and a cannon on his left arm, as well as his signature Airjet on his back.
His name is the Buster Hero: Airjet.
The second is a very tall, muscular man of a wide build with slightly-tanned skin. He has a square jaw which juts out a notable amount, small eyes and short white hair, spiked out behind his head. In his hero costume, he wears large headband with a yellow and black-striped caution pattern, matching his thick wrist-guards and the belt around his waist, a square buckle with a triangular decoration sat in its center. He wears what looks to be a cyan-colored cardigan, which exposes his lower torso and the center of his pectorals, held onto his chest on each side by small metal nuts. His pants are dark blue, with a white stripe down each side, and are slightly baggy on him, and his shoes are plain black with a simple design.
His name is the Punching Hero: Death Arms.
The third is a sturdy man with spiky, red hair jutting forwards in one place and backward in two. He wears a metal, three-piece mask over his mouth and nose, and a crimson outfit with a long, red cape, the collar very high and wide and the edges ripped.
His name is the Chivalrous Hero: Crimson Riot.
The fourth is a man wearing white armor covering most of his upper body and legs, while his engine exhausts protrude from his body as a result of his quirk, but he comes out of the ends of his elbows instead of his calves.
His name is Tensei Ida, also known as Turbo Hero: Ingenium.
The last one is a slender and tall pale-skinned man with messy, shoulder-length black hair that partially hangs in front of his face and often half-opened black eyes. He is usually recognized for his worn-out appearance, often having a fatigued appearance. His facial hair remains unkempt, and his eyes almost always look tired and flat. He is wearing sports a ragged black outfit that consists of a long-sleeved shirt and matching pants that tuck into his boots. He also wears a utility belt and his signature wrap scarf around his neck.
His name is Shota Aizawa, also known as the Erasure Hero: Eraser Head.
They look at the half-destroyed multi-story parking lot floor and are shocked by what they see in front of them.
There are at least over 5O men who were a part of the villainous gang Eighth clan, lying unconscious and injured on the floor. Standing before them was a blonde woman looking to be in her late teens dressed in Knight-like armor, another woman with black hair who looked like a teacher, and a slightly injured fourteen-year-old kid wearing a middle school uniform.
"My god... Look at this destruction..." Airjet commented in pure shock and awe.
"When we show that pillar of light, I was not expecting something like this." Death Arms said with a nervous sweat rolling down his face.
"Yeah, and the members of the Eighth clan paid the price this time," Ingenium said while swallowing his saliva hard at the sight.
"Just what in the world kind of fight happened here?" Crimson Riot asked with narrow eyes.
As they gazed or commented at the sight before them, Aizawa was the first one to regain his composer and looked at the armored blonde woman who was staring back at them like a gawking hawk, almost guarding against potential ambushes and waiting to strike at any moment notice.
The Eraser Hero had a sneaking feeling that this woman was responsible for all this, and also for strange reasons sometimes told the man not to engage her in battle at all cost or he and the other heroes would pay for it dearly.
"You and your men deal with the Eighth clan while we handle them," Aizawa told the officer next to him.
"Right, Eraser Head." The officer replied to the hero with a salute.
Then Aizawa cautiously approached them with the other heroes right behind, while the police were handling the arrest of the unconscious Eighth clan members. Once they were close enough, they stopped a few feet in front of three with Ruler in front and began asking their questions.
"Excuse us Ma'am, but are you the one responsible for taking down this gang of villains?" Ingenium was the first to speak.
"I am," Jeanne answered simply with a firm tone in her voice. "They were threatening to hurt this woman and my Master here, so I dealt with them appropriately."
"Master?" Everyone there thought in confusion, before ignoring it to ask another question.
"I don't recognize you. Are you a new hero by any chance?" Aizawa asked suspiciously as he had never seen this woman before.
"No, I am one of these Pro heroes you speak of," Jeanne said as this caused both the pro heroes and some of the police officers who were listening to the conversation to tense up.
"Then does that mean you're a vigilante?" Death Arms said with narrow eyes.
"No, I am not." Jeanne shook her head to the heroes. "I was just recently summoned here when my Master called out for my help."
"And who this Master you speak of?" Crimson Riot asked with a raised eyebrow.
"He is," Jeanne said while pointing back at Ren. "I am a Servant currently serving him."
"And what is this Servant you speak of?" Death Arms asked the strange woman.
"A legendary hero from the past summoned as a Heroic Spirit. I am Jeanne d'Arc." Jeanne reasoned, adopting an unfamiliar accent. "Master is just master! I'll be there to protect and help him as his Servant."
The five Pro hero had wide eyes or blinked in confusion at the woman's statement, before looking over at the black spiky-haired teen for answers.
"Kid, is she your quirk?" Airjet asked while pointing Ren on the spot.
"Sorry, but that's not possible. I'm quirkless after all?" Ren said shaking his head.
"B-But that can't be true," Komari spoke up, with all eyes now on her. "D-During your fight with those villains I saw those marks on your left hand suddenly appear before she arrived in that pillar of light." She stated the events during that fight, which got the hero's attention.
Aizawa narrowed his eyes and took in the injuries in a new light before looking at the unconscious villains being transported away in restraints that nullify a person's quirk. Then slowly turned his eyes to the kid who looked to be holding himself up despite his injuries.
Time to ask the big question in the room.
"Is what they said true, kid?" Aizawa asked with a frown on his face. "Some kind of teleportation or summoning quirks? Calls things to you that you've marked?"
"For the most part, yes. But I wasn't kidding when I said, I was diagnosed quirkless years ago." Ren told him, not sure how to make sense of any of this.
"Then the only logical sense is that your quirk most of awaken." Crimson Riot said while eyeing the boy's summoning. "A sentient quirk, eh? This type of power is quite rare indeed."
"I guess so," Ren mumbled while being unsure and looking at the red mark on his hands.
Aizawa shakes his head and mutters sometimes under his breath while getting a sense of familiarity.
"Damn, brat. This kid really reminds me of somebody, but I can't..." Aizawa sighs before looking at the Servant. "You're not going to turn violent on us, are you?" He asked bluntly, making the woman's eyes narrow.
"Not unless you try bringing harm to me or my master, I shan't retaliate." The Ruler Servant replied with a challenging tone and narrow eyes to warn them not to try anything, but also wanted to resolve this peacefully.
"Good, then you wouldn't mind coming down to the police station to answer some questions then… this whole thing just got a lot more complicated." Ingenium sounded resigned at the end there, though he kept one eye pinned on the Servant at all times.
The Ruler Servant only replied back with a nod to agree with the hero's request.
"We can escort them to the station, and get the kid some medical attention. Can we leave things here with you Eraser Head?" Ingenium asked the U.A. teacher.
"Fine," Aizawa replied with a nod.
"Already you three, just follow us to the station and we'll get this mess straightened out before nightfall," Ingenium said to them as they were about to leave.
"O-Okay..." Komari said feeling like she would pass out at any moment after the whole experience before looking at Crimson Riot.
"Very well," Jeanne said with a nod before looking at her Master. "Master, shall we go?" The girl asked him.
"Right, we should go with them," Ren said with a sigh, not quite sure what was going on before receiving something. "Wait we're my bag? I can't leave here without it." He asked looking around the destroyed parking lot for his book bag, right before spotting it in a nearby corner.
Then Ren began limping over his stuff before slowly bending down to grab the bag but then started to collapse from his hurt leg.
"Oh, crap!" Ren cursed out while falling to the floor.
But before he could hit the concrete floor, something grabbed Ren by his waist and stopped his descent to the ground. Ren was blind in surprise before shifting his eyes to see it was the Ruler Servant who had saved him not too long ago, who reached out to catch him in time.
"Don't worry, Master. I've got you." Jeanne said as she helped him up and supported his weight for his bad leg.
Ren looked at her with a bewildered expression before speaking. "Thanks again for you're help, miss..."
The woman would smile at him again before she leaned in closer, whispering in a soft and soothing voice in his ear.
"My name is Jeanne D'Arc. And I look forward to being in your servitude, Master." The Ruler Servant proclaimed to her new Master, as she allowed him to cling tightly to her.
"Sure, Jeanne..." Ren said softly with his face flushing from her smile before they began to follow after the heroes who led them away from the multi-story parking lot floor.
Meanwhile, Aizawa silently watched them leave before walking over to five officers that were surrounding the Eighth clan leader, Wang, who was still unconscious, while two of them cuffing him but the other three police officers had their guns drawn and directed towards the serial killer, ready to blow his brains out if he moved a muscle.
A few steps and he came to a stop in front of the gang leader, not too close, but not too far. He knelt on his toes and gazed a leveled stare at the killer with a glare. His professionalism was the only thing stopping him from bashing Wang's head on the concrete floor.
This man was seen as a B-Rank Villain responsible for taking a number of lives in the most twisted and sick way humanely possible, along with his sick gang of followers. He really shouldn't have expected anything more, then the Eighth clan was just a bunch of lunatics doing as they pleased and those were the type of villains hated the most.
But quite the amount of wounds he's gone from that 'Servant' woman that kid summoned was something else, and she called herself Jeanne d'Arc. The Maid of Orléans from France's history.
Did that kid really have a quirk that brought dead heroes from the past back to life? And If he did, what would he do with it?
He'll probably have to scold the parents for having a suicidal, altruistic brat running headfirst into danger. He would be lying if he wasn't intrigued by the kid, it was almost the first time he had heard a summoning quirk so 'unique?'.
Aizawa sighs to himself again as he begins dragging the contained villain across the pavement, before staring at the hole in the ceiling and into the sky, taking in the clear sky, escaping the obscuring nature of the clouds.
Musutafu Police Station- Evening
They all called the entire fight the "Pillar of Light Incident", where a mysterious golden pillar of light suddenly appeared in the middle of the city without warning, as the news was covering the story for the rest of the day before reporting that the one responsible for it took down the entirety of the Eighth clan and the notorious B-Rank Villain Wang and his crew.
Although the news didn't reveal the identity of the one responsible for it to the public, they all still cheered and were thankful for the person who brought down those monsters that had been terrorizing Musutafu for a long time.
Speaking of said person, Ren, the Ruler Servant, and Komari were sitting in the police station after the whole incident with them being questioned by the police.
After what seems like a few hours of questioning from all three of them, they chalked it up as an act of self-defense with Ren going under a quirk awakening for the first time and will not be charged for breaking the law. This bit of information is not revealed to the public for privacy of course.
The police officers looked over Ren's medical reports and just as the boy had claimed, he had indeed been diagnosed as quirkless. The report didn't make mention of the colored markings on his left hand, and the theories about where they had come from.
It all matched up.
Except, that was, his quirk the ability to summon a blonde armor woman who looked like a teenage girl who claimed to be Jeanne D'Arc calling the boy Master and that she was his Servant. Well, that was a little unfair, the Servant hadn't actually killed anyone as far as they were aware, and while cutting Wang's gut deeply and breaking a few bones of the other members had been extreme, Jeanne had served its purpose in saving the boy and preschool teacher lives.
Now if only the so-called Servant would give them an actual straight answer. The boy was fine with only minor injuries that would heal up in a couple of days as their medical staff finished treating him, Ren told the officer everything he asked and didn't lie or try and hide anything as far as they could tell. But nothing the Ruler Servant said made any sense though!
The facts as they knew them were as follows:
First off, she was claiming to be the real Jeanne d'Arc. That wasn't up for debate. The Maid of Orléans has been dead for more than 800 years and somehow came back to life as Sentient Quirk, but it's not that she was any less a person for that, as she still held opinions and a personality of her own.
Second, she wasn't so much a human, as a Heroic Spirit. Whatever the hell that even meant, and no they weren't thinking about that old tabletop game that most people liked to play with aliens and whatnot, and spirit cultists, or whatever. When she'd demonstrated her ability to enter "Spirit Form" she dubbed it and completely vanished from view before rematerializing, which was barely noticeable but present, they'd nearly jumped out of their skins! Invisible and Intangible?! That was a powerful combination, one that didn't quite match up well with how physically dangerous she appeared to be.
Third, they had examined her abilities in the not-so-normal category with her showing off the strength of a Servant, while learning that the Ruler Class Servant was twice as strong as any human without a strength quirk, and nearly 3 times as fast as an average human both in speed and reflexes without a quirk too.
Anyway, the fourth thing they knew. They also noticed that she prioritized the boy's safety above all else, as Jeanne herself who had been watching each police officer, the staff in the building, and the heroes when they were near Ren, with a cautious and wary look on her face... not unlike a lioness ready to defend it's young at the drop of a dime. As long as Ren respected her, she was willing to obey him for now. She was his "Servant" she said, and it was a Servant's duty to follow their Master… they could practically hear the capitals in her voice.
Right now, Ren seemed to be looking at her with awe more than anything. Not surprisingly really, she'd saved his life, and the bloody reality of what she'd done hadn't sunk in yet.
Soon after two hours later, Ren and Jeanne were sitting together in a waiting room with an officer giving them their report on the manner.
"Amamiya, in light of the evidence we have in regards to your supposed lack of quirk." The male officer indicated the report. "As well as Miss Ikoma's own accounting of the events earlier today, you will not be charged with public use of a quirk. As this was a clear case of self-defense, especially at the risk of your own life, you will also not be treated as a vigilante."
The boy calmed down significantly there, his shaking subsiding as he felt the hand of the France girl by his side grabbing his hand under the table, much to his comfort.
"However, I do recommend you make an immediate appointment to have your quirk registered within six weeks." The officer insisted on a professional manner. "And knowing all you can about it, and what it can do, can only benefit you now and in the future."
"I will, sir," Ren replied simply to the cop, much better than earlier when he'd asked him about the events he was a part of.
"Good." The officer gave him a smile. "Now that's out of the way, head to the reception at the front desk to fill out the release forms, and you're free to go."
"Right, then we'll be on my way, sir," Ren said with a nod before standing up along with his Servant. "Thanks for everything."
"And sorry for the trouble we may have caused you all." Ruler said respectively with a bow to the officer, before leaving the room with her Master.
The duo made their way to the front desk with Ren sighing the release forms, but not before meeting up with Komari thanked the Master and Servant again for saving her life. Right after a brief conversation with the teacher, Komari left the police station with Ren and Jeanne waving her goodbye before standing outside the building in awkward silence.
"Okay, now that that's over. What the hell am I going to do now?" Ren thought with a slightly panicky expression as he didn't know what to do now he was alone with the Heroic Spirit.
"Master," Jeanne said getting his attention on her. "Once again, I am glad to meet your acquaintance. What is your name?" The Woman asked.
"Ren Amamiya," Ren answered plainly.
"I am thankful I was able to save you, Master Ren Amamiya, as you are my Master because you summoned me, and I will defend you with my life," Jeanne said bowing while putting a hand over her heart.
"Look Jeanne, this is... This is why to this much for me to possess at the moment..." Ren said while rubbing his forehead with everything that happened that day. "In any case, once we get to the house I'll order some take-out and then we'll have a serious talk about what happened today." He told her.
"Of course, Master." The Ruler Servant nodded to her Master's suggestion with a smile.
Ren just let out a very heavy sigh, as he wasn't in the mood to go food shopping anymore or cook tonight with the day he had.
Yeah, this is a take-out kinda night...
Amamiya Resident- Night
The journey from the city to Ren's place was nearly 15 minutes, but the sun had already set and the streetlights turned on as Ren and his new Servant/companion Jeanne arrived at his house. His parents were working overseas and didn't know when they would return, so it was just him and Jeanne alone.
Jeanne helped Ren safely get back home in one place with his injured leg still hurting, as they stood at the front gate of the two-story house.
"Well, this is my place," Ren said welcoming her to his house.
"It looks like a nice home to live in." Jeanne complimented.
"Yeah, my parents aren't here now, and I know when they'll be back," Ren informed her.
"Why is that, Master?" Jeanne asked with her head slightly tilted in confusion.
"Their archaeologists that travel around a lot, so I rarely see them. But I'll be sure to call them later about you and explain our situation to avoid any weird misunderstanding." Ren told her getting a nod of understanding from Jeanne.
"Right, Master. I look forward to meeting them in the near future." Jeanne said with a smile.
"Anyways let's head in. There are lots of questions on my part that need to be answered, especially about this Master and Servant stuff you meant." Ren said before walking up to the front door and opening it with his house key, as Jeanne followed right behind him.
Once they were inside, they made themselves comfortable with Ren gave Jeanne a small tour around the house since she was going to be living there with him before putting away his things and taking a quick shower while Jeanne sat in the living room and watched the TV that Ren turned on for her.
Soon after, Ren entered the living room, dressed in his sleeping attire. He grabbed the TV remote and put it on mute, as it was finally time for them to have that conversation she promised him earlier.
"Okay, I think it's time we had that talk now Jeanne," Ren told her with a tone full of business as he stood in from of her. "I just ordered us a Pizza from Domino's and it will take a while before it gets here, so let's try and finish this before it arrives." He said watching to get this done before their food shows up.
"As you wish, Master. Understand that this conversation will not be a short one, so I suggest that you sit down as there is a lot to go over due to lack of knowledge." Jeanne spoke to him with a smile, ready to answer all of his questions.
Taking her advice, Ren took a seat on the couch across from her side before he started asking his question.
"So you're the actual Jeanne d'Arc and not someone pretending to her," Ren asked as he had a bit of suspicion in his voice.
"The same Jeanne who fought in the Hundred Years War to save my home country France. The same Jeanne who was sentenced to death and burned at the stake." Jeanne told him honestly.
"But that's important. She's been dead for almost 800 years now and was popularly executed in front of a crowd of people who witnessed her death. Also even if there was a quirk that could grant a person the ability to live longer, they didn't start appearing into the world until the 21st century, which was 200 years ago." Ren replied back to her as it was around the 23rd century.
"Your skepticism is most understandable, Master. But I assume that I am the real Jeanne d'Arc. Well at least not your world's version of her that is." Jeanne revealed much to the boy's confusion.
"What do you mean by my world?" Ren asked her feeling a bit lost from what she was saying.
"You see, Master... I don't know how to put this, but you somehow managed to summon me from across time and space into another reality outside your universe." Jeanne said as she watched her Master's freeze up with his eyes wide in disbelief.
"W-What?" Ren muttered out.
"To put it simply, you summon me from another world," Jeanne exclaimed with Ren's jaw dropping to the floor from the shocking truth.
"Wait, another world?! Your talking about the Multiverse theory?! You're saying that other realities really exist outside our own?!" Ren asked in utter shock to what he was hearing.
"Not just realities, Master. But alternate timelines as well." Jeanne confirmed as she remembered her previous summoning in other Grail Wars. "When a Heroic Spirit is summoned as a Servant by the Grail, they are automatically given knowledge about the time period and location they are being summoned to, including the language spoken by their Master and the broader cultural context of the country they are in. The history in this world is slightly different from the world where I was summoned from as humanity never manifested quirks."
"Quirks don't exist in your world," Ren asked with a gasp as Ruler nodded in response.
"Not just quirks, but we have Magic and Magecraft as well," Jeanne confirmed.
"Magic?" Ren said gasping for a second time.
"Yes, Master. Magic exists in the world that I hail from as most referred to it as the Moonlit World." Jeanne said as she began to explain the concept of her world's magic. "There are only Five Magics that exist, well, there is the theory of Sixth and beyond Magic, but as of now, it currently doesn't exist. The First Magic, it is one of the oldest Magics, but sadly the details are unknown due to its age, but it is common knowledge to Magus that it's connected to the generation of Ether clumps, elements, which have been called 'materialized nothing.' The Second Magic, also known as the Kaleidoscope, which can let someone travel to parallel worlds. The Third Magic, Heaven's Feel, is the materialization of the soul, it's what made summoning the Servants possible and a significant connection towards the Holy Grail. The Fourth Magic sadly is entirely unknown, and its history was lost for centuries. And finally, the Fifth Magic, Magic Blue, the details are hidden, but many believe that it's connected to Time Travel." The Servant let out a big breath after she finished her explanation.
Ren was speechless at what he just learned from the France girl, as he had already seen it firsthand when Ren summoned her and couldn't help but be awed by these miracles of magic. But before he could say something, Jeanne still had more to tell him.
"There are multiple groups of individuals who devoted themselves to the studies of magic. We refer to them as Magus. Magus are humans born with Magic Circuits, enabling them to practice Magecraft, a form of magical science. In ancient times, the term magus was used for both the users of Magecraft and Magic, but with the advancement of science that made past miracles possible and the decline of the overall power of Magecraft, the differences between the two became clearer. A Magus also dedicates themselves to the study and refinement of Magecraft while driving themselves apart of the values of common people in the process. They search for the greater truths of the universe not to answer existential questions, but just for the sake of knowing. Although Magic was a goal for many Magus before the creation of the Fifth Magic, it is not their ultimate objective. The main goal for all magus is to reach the Swirl of the Root, which is the "truth" of the universe that it holds and many focus their experiments on discovering a path to it. The Root, Master, is nothing less than the Wellspring for All Creation, at least for my world, and contains perfect and absolute knowledge of all things, past, present, and future. If it makes things easier to picture in your mind, one could very well consider the Root to be God, except in this case, God is a place instead of a person as He is so often portrayed. Reaching the Root is the ultimate goal of everyone in my world who calls themself a Magus, and it is one that most Magus will do literally anything in order to accomplish. The First Magic and Fifth Magic were the result of reaching the Root, while the Second Magic, Third Magic, and Fourth Magic were meant as a means to reach it." The Ruler Servant finishes in satisfaction while smiling with her eyes closed. "There! I believe this explanation is more than enough for your understanding, no."
Ren reminded speechless as his brain was trying to adjust to this new reality with him starting to question everything he believed in even though he lives in a world where humans are born with freakin' superpowers.
"B-B-But that's-" Ren stuttered while placing a hand on his head as he was at a loss for words from learning that other worlds and magic exist. "That's a lot to take in, but how did I manage to summon you anyway? I wasn't born with any powers nor do I know any magic or Magecraft." He asked as he couldn't be a quirk, not at his age or having any knowledge of magic.
"I don't know full details myself, Master. But I think I can make an educated guess as to why someone like you possesses Magic Circuits despite not being born from my world." Jeanne stated to him with a look of curiosity and interest. "But I think it might be best to go over a few things first before then."
"What do you mean?" Ren asked the girl.
"I shall explain everything from the beginning so please listen carefully." The Servant requested her Master's immediate attention. ''How much do you know about mythology and humanity's history?''
"I know the basics, especially the important ones," Ren replied wondering where she was going with this.
"Then I will keep it simple," Jeanne said expecting this before going more into detail. "Humanity's collective beliefs, myths, and legends have taken on a life of their own, and we are referred to as 'Servants'."
"Servants?" Ren asked confusedly with interest. "You meant that because, but never told me."
"Yes, Servants are powerful human familiars in service to the ones who have summoned us into the physical realm. If I had to put it into a single sentence, you could say that 'Servant' is the title given to human beings renowned actions made a life-changing effect upon history. I am a Heroic Spirit; a hero from another time who has become so famous and accomplished deeds so legendary, that after my death I ascended to a level of existence that borders on that of the divine. Rather than my soul going into the cycle of reincarnation, it instead ascended and recorded into a special storage within the afterlife called the Throne of Heroes. In time, the Throne of Heroes would create a copy of the required Heroic Spirit and transfer its data through a summoning ritual." Jeanne explained to Ren, who was so dumbfounded by this string of revelations.
"Heroic Spirits... Throne of Heroes...?" Ren repeated to himself quietly, as all of these terms were just so unfamiliar and new to him. "As in, Heroes of old?" There was a term among the Hero society.
About how people from history, myths, and legends perform great feats of heroism long before the Quirk phenomenon ever began. The Pro Heroes today and anyone who read about them refer to those people as, Heroes of Old. And the girl standing in front of him claimed to be one of them? A real Hero of Old? Brought back from the dead?
But he found himself greatly intrigued by this new development, and these unique circumstances piqued his interest in learning more about it.
"Correct, I am glad to see you were paying attention. Now, as I was saying. The ritual designed to call upon us Heroic Spirits are then summoned into powerful spirits called Servants and form a pact with the ones that summon us, as we refer to them as our Masters." Jeanne told him.
"I'm sorry for asking this. You said that the Servant was Heroic Spirits of the past, then if they were called by this Master who wishes to summon them, does that mean they resurrect the said heroes back from the dead?" Ren asked for more information.
Jeanne shook her head before speaking to him. "No. The term 'revive from the dead' isn't right. We're just a copy of the original heroes who resided in the Throne of Heroes, and thus we act like the way we once lived. All of our weapons, or called Noble Phantasm, the thing that represented our souls is also a copy made by the Grail. Also, although we are more powerful than humans and other living beings in physical and skills, we only had a fraction of our power when we lived." She replied getting a nod from him.
"This means although just a copy of the original one, you behave like when you were alive. But, Although you said just a copy, in my eyes, you look human, not just a mere copy. And, although you said you had only a fraction of your power, you fight on the same level as a seasoned pro hero despite holding back against those villains. That was an impressive feat for the one that only has a fraction of their power." Ren complimented her.
"I appreciate the kind words, Master," Jeanne said happily to hear her Master's words. "Now back to the matter at hand. There are seven Classes that each Servant is summoned into. The three Knight Classes belong to the Servants, Saber, Lancer, and Archer. While the Four Calvary Classes go to the Servants, Rider, Caster, Assassin, and Berserker. Each class has its own unique strengths, weaknesses, and skills derived from the legends and myths of the champions they represent." She said going over the Servant Classes.
"Can you elaborate?" Ren asked with curiosity.
"But of course, Master," Jeanne replied with a beautifully warm smile. "Now let's see… I'll start with the Saber Class. Saber Class Servants are often the most sought-after Servants, as they are widely considered the strongest out of all the classes. They usually have high rankings for all of their stats, as well as strong Magic Resistance and even a Riding skill. Their Noble Phantasm almost always involves their sword in some way, but given the name of the class itself, that's no surprise." She explained as Ren blinked.
"Noble Phantasm?" Ren repeated wonderfully as this was the second time he heard that word from the Servant.
"Think of it as a Servant's ultimate trump card. A unique skill that only they possess." Jeanne said while trying to explain it to her Master as best she could. "A Noble Phantasm can best be summarized as the manifestation of a Heroic Spirit's greatest legend. Whenever a Servant is summoned, each one possesses a single Noble Phantasm, which often takes the form of their most powerful attack or greatest strength. There are some special cases with heroes having different weapons based on different time periods in their lives."
"Ah, so it's like some kind of Super Move," Ren said softly in realization before a thought came to his mind. "Hey Jeanne, Is it probably for a Servant to have more than one Noble Phantasm?"
"Yes, Master. There are some Servants who possess at least two or three Noble Phantasms. For example, I have two Noble Phantasms." Jeanne said proudly with a hand on her chest.
"Whoa, hearing that just making you even cooler than I thought Jeanne," Ren said in awe, as he couldn't help but think she could get any more incredible.
"M-Master... You flatter me..." Jeanne said as she blushed faintly and looked away. ''But we're getting off-topic, as I still haven't explained the other Servant Classes yet." She stated while regaining her composer. "Next we have Lancer-class Servants. Stats-wise, this class is identical to Saber for the most part, except they have much greater Agility, and also have Magic Resistance as a Class Skill, but not Riding… in most cases. Also like the Saber Class, their Noble Phantasm is usually related to their weapon, however for Lancer it's obviously a polearm instead of a sword."
The quirkless boy nodded, following along with her explanation as she continued.
"After that, we have the Archer Class Servants. Which typically specializes in long-range combat and independent operations. They utilize hit-and-run tactics, capitalizing on their range and speed, and are equipped with powerful Noble Phantasms. Their class skills include Magic Resistance and Independent Action, and they often embody Heroic Spirits who were knights. They wield powerful projectile weapons or possess special abilities related to such weapons. The Archer Class Servants Noble Phantasms is often a bow or any projectile weapon, including firearms. These non-disposable weapons are activated using the Servant's magical energy, replicating legendary destructions. The act of summoning Servants is akin to 'summoning Noble Phantasms', representing each Hero's power." Jeanne explained with Ren thinking of them as your typical snipers.
Ren continued to listen as he found all of this Servant Classes talk to be both fascinating and educational.
"Up next we have Rider Class Servants. Now with them, it can be difficult to guess what their stats will be like without encountering them, but they will often have higher-ranked Agility, and they also have better Magic Resistance and a more powerful Riding skill than the Saber Class. Their Noble Phantasm will always be related in some way to their mount, which can range from an ordinary but famous horse, to some kind of Divine Beast, or maybe even a dragon. Their mount could even be some kind of mechanical contraption, like, for example, a ship." Jeanne explained as Ren had the mental image of a Servant riding a ship into land combat so strange.
But he'd seen stranger things given he lives in a world where people are born with superpowers.
"Next we come to the Caster Class Servants, which have horrible physical stats, but their Mana will typically be ranked at A, if not higher, which they use to fuel a vast array of dangerous and powerful spells. They also possess the Class Skills of Item Construction and Territory Creation, both of which can be a nightmare to deal with if one isn't careful." Jeanne explained that Ren would have found the idea of magic to be impossible until today.
Not to mention he summoned a hero from another world with the power of magic.
"Now we come to Assassin Class Servants. Like Caster, Assassin Class Servants often have terrible physical abilities, at least when compared to the other Servants, so they tend to be at a disadvantage in a straight-up fight. However, they do have the unique skill of Presence Concealment. With this skill, Assassin Class Servants often target enemy Masters rather than the Servants themselves, and even when they do fight other Heroic Spirits they prefer to use ambushes. So understand, Master, that while the typical Assassin may not be that much of a threat to someone like me or any of the other Servants in a fair fight, this is a class specifically made for Heroic Spirits that like to fight dirty." Jeanne explained as Ren couldn't help but think of the Assassin Class like ninjas, which is a type of assassin.
Simple to follow, it wasn't anything too different than what he expected. Of course, his knowledge came mostly from the Dungeons and Dragons games she played.
"Finally we have Berserker Class Servants. This class consists of Heroic Spirits that have gone berserk or even insane at some point in their lives. Their distinguishing feature is the Class Skill of Mad Enhancement, which sacrifices the Servant's sanity in exchange for greater power. This class was originally designed so that weak Heroic Spirits would have a fighting chance against the other Servants, but just imagine what would happen if a strong Heroic Spirit was summoned as Berserker." Jeanne explained the last Servant Class, before pausing to let her Master absorb this information.
Ren thought that the Berserker Class was the most dangerous one of them all, as they were unstable like when a person loses control of their quirk.
After finishing her explanation on all the Servant Classes, Ren was nearly speechless trying to unpackage this latest revelation, much to Jeanne's amusement.
"Woah…." Ren would say in awe after a brief but poignant moment of silence. "That's a lot to take in."
"Do not fret much, Master. Even if you are a novice to the Moonlit World, I have fate you adjust to it in due time." Jeanne reassured her Master.
"If you say so but there is still one thing that bothers me," Ren said as he noticed something after she explained the Servant Classes. "Shouldn't there be eight Servant Classes instead of seven? When I first summon, you called yourself a Ruler Class Servant. Which would apply that there more Classes besides those seven you've just told me."
"I'm impressed that you were able to remember that Master." The Heroic Spirit happily complemented while being impressed by her Master's ability to pick up on things quickly, which will be useful in the future. "And you are right about me not being a part of the Main Class, as there are more Classes called the Extra Class. Servants in these Classes are considered to normally be impossible Classes that are not properly counted among Proper Human History."
"So given what you just told me, I take it that the Servant Class that you are from is a rare type of summoning then?" Ren asked, pretty much figuring out how the Servant Class system Works.
"Indeed it is Master, as I am of the Ruler Class, which is completely different from the seven distinct classes I touched you earlier. Ruler Class Servants like myself are tasked to preserve the laws of Heroic Spirits to ensure they won't be violated, such as the law of "the dead not leading the living", touted as the greatest law of Heroic Spirits, and to maintain human history by preserving the illusion behind the Age of Gods so that people do not know about the truth behind it. The role of a Ruler is to arbitrate the truth and adjudicate all things in order to maintain human history. But mainly, the Ruler Class serves a unique role, presiding over the Holy Grail War and ensuring that its rules are followed fairly." Jeanne explained her Servant Class.
"The Holy Grail War?" Ren asked with a raised eyebrow. "What's that?"
Jeanne expression slightly changes as she knows this topic would come up in their conversation and didn't know how her would react to this news.
"Master…" Jeanne's expression turned serious as she raised her head to stare at him. "Tell me, what do you know of the Holy Grail?"
"The Holy Grail?" Ren repeated and wasn't expecting such a random question. "A relic used by Jesus Christ and given his blood. It was sought after by King Arthur's Knights; Galahad, Percival, and Bors." He wondered where she was going with this.
"Yes, I see you are well educated. However, The Holy Grail wasn't just a sacred treasure that grants miracles. It also grants the wishes of whoever achieves it. The very same relic that grants Masters Command Spells and their authority over Servants." Jeanne revealed that this was the moment of truth.
This is something her Master, Ren Amamiya must learn if he is to survive. Ren blinked in utter shock but remained silent to hear what else she had to say.
"Back in my reality, the practice of summoning Servants first came about towards the end of the 18th century, when three families of mages known as the Tohsaka, the Makiri, and the Einzbern, worked together to summon a magical device known as the Holy Grail. The ritual was designed with each of the families contributing essential components; the Einzberns provided the vessel that would become the Holy Grail; the Tohsakas provided land rich with high-quality ley lines filled with prana for the Grail to draw upon, and they also developed the ritual used to summon the Servants; while the Makiris created the Command Spells to keep said Servants under control. Now to be clear, this Holy Grail wasn't the artifact that belonged to the God of the Bible's son, Jesus Christ, but was instead a wish-granting device that was said to be omnipotent. They wished to access the place where all knowledge is stored, known as Akasha. Or as all Magus preferred calling it the Root. Thus, they created the Holy Grail to fulfill that purpose. Unfortunately for them, it can only grant the wishes of only one person. And so, the Holy Grail War was born." Jeanne told him in a way like a teacher giving their student a listen.
A wish... An omniscient device with the power to grant any wish for anything. He trying to process the information that entering his mind. Now Ren realized what the hell he had gotten himself into and wondered what roles he played in all of this. But right now he needed more information.
"Wait, Jeanne," Ren interrupted, confused about something. "As fascinating as this story is, I'm confused as to the purpose of this Holy Grail War and how they could use this omnipotent wish-granting device?" He asked as he had a feeling that there was more to this Holy Grail War.
"Ah, an excellent question. You see, the Holy Grail War is a tournament that happens every sixty years where seven Masters chosen by the Holy Grail summon seven Servants, all who were heroes from the past, to do battle. The Grail uses the Third Magic, which can summon said seven Servants from the Throne of Heroes, each bearing their own Classes. Servants can be at random but holding an artifact will allow a Master to better choose a Servant they want." Jeanne said with Ren getting the jest of it, as the Ruler Servant continued. "So the way the war works is that in short, the seven Master and Servant pairs will then battle to the death, for each Servant's death empowered the Holy Grail with their soul until the last Master and Servant pair to stand wins and allows the right to obtain the Grail. Then the Holy Grail will grant the winners one omniscient wish, anything they so desire."
"Any wish?" Ren repeated to her.
"Yes, it can grant any wish you seek regardless of reality, but depending on the wish there are some limitations," Jeanne replied.
"Such as?" Ren asked with curiosity.
"Well, say you wished for world peace. In that case, the Grail would make world peace happen in the way that you, the person who made the wish think how world peace can/should be achieved." Jeanne stated with a grim expression.
"That sounds like a serious flaw. Given the many different kinds of thoughts people have on how to achieve peace, I don't even want to imagine a twisted person's idea of world peace would be like," Ren said shaking his head as he could already see the flaw in this type of system.
"You're not wrong about that, Master..." Jeanne said as her thoughts stuffed to certain Ruler Class Servant like herself who tried to use the Grail's power for their own ideas of human salvation. "Like I just manage, the way that the Holy Grail granted wishes involved the vessel absorbing the souls of dead Servants to power the ley lines, which when combined with the Servants' souls it had consumed, would allow it to fulfill its main function, and return all the Heroic Spirits to the Throne of Heroes within the Akashic Records, creating a gateway to them in the process that humans would be able to travel through, at least in theory. This was precisely what the Tohsakas in particular wanted, as their wish was to reach the Root. Of course, this was not the only wish that the Grail was capable of granting. With that much raw power contained in the vessel, one would have been able to wish for just about anything. The Einzberns wanted to use the Grail to regain an incredibly powerful type of magic that their family had possessed nearly a millennia ago known as Heaven's Feel, and the head of the Makiris wanted eternal youth and immortality for himself. However as the ritual was nearing completion, the three families discovered a troubling fact: the Holy Grail could only grant one wish at a time. After the first wish, it would be another sixty years before it would have sufficient power to grant a second one. When the three families realized this, it shouldn't be much of a surprise that they all quickly turned on one another in order to claim the wish for themselves. By the time the fighting was done, none of the Masters or their Servants had survived, and no one got the Grail." She finished her history listened about the Holy Grail War.
Hearing that caused Ren to frown as his eyes narrowed in silent fury. The war for omnipotent devices that granted any wishes, and called the souls of the dead heroes of the past to fight for it, with said heroes also have wished for their own. The idea that someone would go through the trouble of summoning and contracting a Heroic Spirit simply to kill it off as a sacrificial pawn for some obscure ritual disgusted him more than he could describe. It didn't matter to him what sort of wish he might have; Ren would never throw away the lives of others just to obtain a stupid wish.
"I gotta say, that is quite an interesting story, Jeanne." The quirkless boy finally spoke for the first after she was done while having a neutral expression on her face. "But I have to ask, is there a Holy Grail War happening in this world right now?"
"As far as I'm aware of Master, no. We are not fighting in a Holy Grail War right now if that's what you're thinking. The Grail would've informed me if that were the case, and I having fought in previous Grail Wars myself." Jeanne frowned, there wasn't a case in which a Servant was summoned with no Holy Grail War. Summoning a Servant before the Grail War could be a possibility but, there is no information of the Holy Grail War when she is summoned to this world. "Even if a Grail War were happening, I would have been summoned as an arbitrator to ensure the rules of the Holy Grail War are upheld." She explained.
"Rules to a war... never thought I'd hear that in the same sentence," Ren commented bluntly before closing his and letting out a deep exhausting sigh. "At the very least It's good to know I'm not getting dragged into some random war. And besides... I'm not exactly thrilled about the Holy Grail Wars stuff. To be honest I completely detested the idea of the whole Holy Grail War and everything it stands for." He said finding the whole thing messed up.
"Well, everyone has their own opinion of it," Jeanne stated as she could understand from her Master's point of view.
"It's just for granting a damn wish to achieve their stupid goals whether good or bad. Even kill each other for the Grail. I just can't expect it no matter how tempting it may be." Ren stated seriously with his arms crossed.
"It is expected from a none Magus such as himself to say. I can't blame him for it. There is some logic to it." Jeanne thought with a smile while seeing her Master in a new light. "Do you have a wish wanted granted?"
"No. Even if I did, I would make my own wishes come true with my own two hands." Ren stated with her giving him a smile.
"You are a strange one, Master. But that is what I like about you. I can already expect great things from you." Jeanne exclaimed so cutely, with a tilt of the head and an innocent smile.
Ren's heart skipped a beat when he saw the expression she was making as he found Jeanne's smiling face to be breathtaking with his face heating up and his heart pounding in excitement.
"Thanks, but there still one thing that I don't understand. How were you summoned without me doing that whole Summon Ritual thing?" Ren asked her as there was still pieces to this missing puzzle.
"Even know you were unaware of the fact that you summoned a Servant, the proof of our pact bear on your right hand." Jeanne pointed out while looking at her Master's right hand where the Command Spells lay.
Upon hearing that, Ren broke out his daze before glancing down at his left hand and realizing the importance of the strange mark that had appeared on his right hand and set this whole thing in motion. But while before it had been a dull color, like that of dried blood, it was now a vibrant crimson, much like her hair.
"Just what is this mark anyway?" Ren asked, holding up his hand for Jeanne to see as well.
"That mark is known as Command Spells. It is proof of the pact between Master and Servants, the one that you and I share. And more importantly, they signify your status as the Master of the said pact. By extension, that means you're my Master as both parties rely on each other for their continued existence." Jeanne elaborated to him, that Masters and Servants are intrinsically linked through the Grail. "I already mentioned that in the end, Servants are basically extremely powerful familiars, ones that are almost always many times stronger than their Master. But Servants don't have physical bodies, as they're basically solidified mana constructs."
"Then that was having a master come in, correct?" Ren asked as he could see where she was going with this.
"Yes, therefore without Command Spells a Servant can no longer receive a steady supply of mana from their respective Master. And without a Master to keep us anchor to this world, then a Servant will return back to the Throne of Heroes." She said with a stern manner to show how serious it was.
"So in a way, it's a give-and-take kind of deal," Ren said while listening to every single one of Ruler's words. "But I have a feeling that there's more to these Command Spells than what you're telling me, right?"
"Indeed there is Master. Command Spells are tools to help guarantee the authority of the Master over their Servant." Jeanne replied, pondering for a moment. "By invoking the Command Spells, a Master can compel their Servant's obedience a total of three times. By using the Command Spells, you could order me to do just about anything, and I would carry out that order immediately whether I wanted to or not." She told him, much to her Master's shock and horror.
Ren looked back at the Command Spells on his hand with newfound disguise and anger; while clenching his fist in anger at the thought of what a less merciful Master might use them for.
"Jeanne, I want to make it care that I would never do anything like forcing you to do something against you own will," Ren stated to her with a deadly serious tone and expression. "So rest assured that you have nothing to fear me abusing these Command Spells."
"I am glad to hear that from you Master, but there is nothing to fear possessing Command Spells," Jeanne said while smiling from having such a kind and caring Master. "Command Spells serve more of function than supplying and absolute obedience. For example, I am incapable of any kind of teleportation. But if you used a Command Spell ordering me to go to a specific location immediately, the laws of time and space themselves would bend to send me to said location, no matter how far away I was. Also, if you used one ordering me to carry out a certain task, such as 'destroy the enemy in front of you' and I agreed with and supported your intentions, every aspect of my power would be greatly increased as I fulfilled that order."
"Well that's certainly interesting, and it also seems pretty handy for when you're in a pinch," Ren noted the benefits of the Command Spells. "But that can't be all there is to it, there has to be some sort of catch."
"Indeed there is," Jeanne confirmed with a nod at how first he was catching on. "While the Command Spells are the crystallization of magic powerful enough to compel even a Heroic Spirit, they only contain so much power. If you were to use one ordering me to completely obey your every command, a Command Spell's power would be spread out accordingly, drastically decreasing its effectiveness. At most, I would probably feel a sort of compulsion to obey you, like a little voice in my head nagging me to agree with you and do what you've said. It would be annoying, but ultimately I could ignore it. As for the most important 'catch,' as you put it, a Master has three Command Spells, no more, no less. And if they use up all three, the contract disappears with them but you're a special case in this regard, Master." She advised her Master not to be hesitant when using his Command Spells if needed and should keep in mind to avoid giving orders that were vague or broad.
"What do you mean by a special case?" Ren asked her.
"Normally, when a Master uses a Command Spell it's gone for good. But seem to have the ability to regenerate your Command Spells due to having the Holy Grail." Jeanne simply revealed while dropping a bombshell on the quirk, whose eyes nearly popped out of his head.
"Excuse me but can you repeat that?" Ren asked in shock while wanting to much sure he heard her right.
''You have the Holy Grail inside you, Master,'' Jeanne repeated with a serious tone. "I felt the Grail's power resonating inside you the moment I first led eyes onto you."
"Wait a damn moment, are you saying a Holy Grail is inside me, but how is that possible when you're not even from this world?" Ren asked while patting his hands over his chest. "As if getting Command Spells weren't enough." He muttered to himself.
"It is as I said. There is a Holy Grail inside you. One of the abilities of your Holy Grail is to manifest heroes of the past, who were exempt from their respective afterlives due to Gaia's influence. I am one such Heroic Spirit.'' Jeanne confirmed, just as confused as her Master.
"You're saying I can summon more Servants besides you Jeanne?" Ren asked in awe at the thought of summoning legendary heroes and figures throughout history, and having them under his command.
"Since you have the Grail then yes, but your mana reserves which you have a fair amount of can only currently handle having than one Heroic Spirit as of right now," Jeanne told her Master's current strong at the moment. "But that can change in the future with some training to increase your mana levels of course."
"That's still a bit overwhelming to hear," Ren said looking down at his hand that had the Command Spells on it.
"I do not know how the Grail was implanted within you. It could be possible that you were chosen to host the Lesser Grail. But that would only apply if this world was holding a Holy Grail War." Jeanne said frowning as she could not make light of the situation, before standing up from where she was seated then walking up to her Master and grasping both of his hands with him looking up into her eyes. "But regardless of the arrangement, I am yours to command and vow to stand by your side no matter what path you may take Master." She generously vowed to him while smiling brightly, which made Ren blush madly at how beautiful she looked right now.
"Jeanne..." Ren said being at a loss for words at this unbelievable woman in front of her. "To be honest I'm still having a hard time believing all this. But I'll do my very best to live up to being your Master." Even though the quirkless teen said these words with a s smile, he had a serious look in her eyes.
A look that told Jeanne that he was starting to truly understand what it meant to be a Master, and also that unless the situation was dire, he wouldn't even consider using those Command Spells, as he now realized how precious they were.
"Glad to hear it. Now Master," Jeanne said while releasing the boy's hands and sitting down next to, him before changing topics. "Unless you have any more questions, I would like to ask a few of my own."
"Sure, it's only fair after all," Ren said with a grin as it was his turn to answer her question. "What do you want to know, Jeanne?"
"Can you please tell me more about your world? Even now when Servants are summoned by the Holy Grail, they are typically given a basic understanding of the modern world. There is still much I do not know about your world society works and its laws." The the Maid of Orléans asked hoping to get a better understanding of this Superhuman society to fit in better and not cause any problems for her Master.
"That wouldn't be a problem at all, but I promise you you won't like most of the things," Ren warned the Ruler Servant.
"Even so, I still want to know." Jeanne shook her head before placing a hand on her chest. "I experienced the waste side of humanity and the cruelty of war. So nothing you say will surprise me, Master." She pleaded blatantly as the France girl didn't know much.
"Okay, then..." Ren said giving a tiring sigh before telling Jeanne everything about their society from the birth of quirks to everything else.
Jeanne listened to her Master's words and answered each one of her questions to the best of his knowledge, as the Maid of Orléans couldn't help but feel disappointed with how this society-powered humans operated and tried its people as it remained her too much of the world she came from.
She knew the general gist of it, but not the details. Despite being a Heroic Spirit, in life she was no sorcerer; she was just a normal human. She 'learned' things from the Holy Grail, but it seemed to be limited to the bare essentials like language and the superhuman society. For example, she knew that quirks were biologically in nature and some had their own unique abilities – but, she didn't know how it they were in the slightest.
Not too long after, the pizza finally arrived with them crewing down on it while having more of a pleasant conversation. Once they were done eating they cleaned up their mess and with it getting late in the night.
"That was a delicious meal you bought for us, Master," Jeanne said while helping clean away the trash and putting it in the garbage.
"It was just Domino's pizza. I would have liked to cook for you both I'm too tired after today's event and because there's barely any food in the fridge at the moment." Ren said whipping off the table as he was then reminded of something important that he'd forgotten. "Oh, speaking of which that reminds me. Jeanne, we need to go grocery shopping tomorrow to buy more food for the house and to also get you some new clothes and other stuff you'll need since you're staying with us." He told her with him having no school tomorrow.
"Very well, Master. And to be honest I'm actually quite interested in seeing your world's era in person." Jeanne said with an anticipating smile, as she never got the chance to earlier today.
Despite her upbringing and history, the Ruler Servant always dreamed of living a normal life, and Jeanne had a feeling she could do that now with her new Master.
"Sure, but before we leave the house tomorrow. You need to change into some normal clothes." Ren stated getting a confused look from his Servant. "Don't get me wrong Jeanne, I like that outfit of yours but If people see you dressed like that then they'll assume you're some kinda Pro Hero or pretending to be one." He explained that cosplaying textually isn't illegal, but what is illegal is pretending to be a Pro Hero, and the last thing they need to deal with.
"Very, well. I'll be sure to dress more appropriately tomorrow to avoid any unnecessary trouble." Jeanne replied with a nod of understanding. "Now. You best head to bed, Master. You need rest." The blonde ordered him with a smile.
"Yeah you're right about that…" Ren said while letting out a yawn. "You can sleep in my parent's room for the time being, and tomorrow morning we'll hit up the stores."
"Thanks for the kind offer Masters, but I don't require sleep," Jeanne said getting a confused look from her Master before she began to explain. "Since Servants are powered by Mana, we aren't subject to the same human limitations. So we don't really need to eat, drink, or sleep, and solely survive only on the Mana are Masters provides us. However, we can sleep in their physical body as a means of reducing energy consumption if they cannot or refuse to return to spiritual form."
"Spiritual Form?" Ren asked with a raised eyebrow at the new term.
Instead of explaining it, Jeanne showed Ren as he watched her whole body slowly start to disappear in a blue glow like a dying fire and dissipate into nothing, much to the boy's surprise.
"Jeanne? Where are you? What happened?" Ren asked while looking around the room to find the Heroic Spirit.
"I have merely taken myself into Spiritual Form Master." Ruler informed him that startled the boy and made him slightly jump in surprise, as she mentally communicated with Ren.
"What the?! How are you-?!" Ren shouted as he suddenly heard Jeanne's voice sound from within his head, even know he couldn't see her the boy could still sense her presence in the room.
"I'm your Servant, Master. Due to the pact that exists between us as Servant and Master, you and I can communicate with one another telepathically regardless of the distance between us. Especially, when taking my Spiritual Form." Jeanne said before she reformed in front of him. "What you just witnessed was me entering my Spiritual Form. All Servants like myself can do this while it serves as a means to not be easily detected by enemies due to being invisible to the naked eye, except for our respective Master and other Servants." She explained as he stared in awe at her.
"Whoa, that's actually a usual trick to have," Ren said sounding a bit impressed as he forgot she could do that back at the police station. "But you meant a moment ago that you don't have to eat or sleep. So why eat the pizza when you didn't really need it."
"Well it's true don't Servants don't require it, as we can sleep in our physical bodies as a means of reducing Magical Energy consumption if we cannot or refuse to return to spiritual form. But eating and sleeping can still replenish our mana supplies." Jeanne said before awkwardly looking away from her master in embarrassment. "Also you offered me some food and it would have been rude of me not to accept your kindness."
"I see. Well, whatever... We can talk more about this stuff tomorrow and figure out where to go from here. In the meantime, let's call it a night." Ren comments as he stretches out his arms in exhaustion before walking out of the room to go to bed. "Good night, Ruler."
"Good night… Master…" Jeanne smiled softly while bowling gracefully, as her Master departed to his room. "And I pray you have sweet dreams." She said before fading away in a flash of blue light.
Amamiya Resident- Morning
Morning came faster than he'd liked. Had Ren known how his day would turn out, he wouldn't have gotten out of bed that morning.
Ren sighed, leaning further back into the cough he was sitting on while holding his left hand, staring at the back of it. On it were the Command Spells, a symbol of his state as a Master and both he shared with the Ruler Servant, who upstairs changing into proper clothes so they can go to the stopping together in town.
The teen barely got any sleep as he was thinking about his conversation with Ruler last night. At first, he thought it was all a crazy dream but when woke this morning and saw Command Spells in his hand, Ren immediately knew what happened last night was real and that his life was never going to be the same again with Jeanne now in it.
Speaking of said blonde, when Ren got dressed in his street clothes and went downstairs, Jeanne was there waiting for him and greeted him with a 'Good Morning' in her usual warm smile and tone that can liven up any day, as he returned back casually while blushing a bit from beauty. After having a bit of a talk, Jeanne went upstairs to change into regular clothes so she wouldn't stand out like a sore thumb and get mistaken as a Pro hero which would cause problems for her Master and Ren.
Ren's mind was filled with more questions than answers, even know Jeanne was about to answer most of them. But there was still one question in his mind that had been bugging him since last night.
Why does he have a Holy Grail in the first place?
He knew for a fact he was born in this world. So how did he come into possession of something from Jeanne's dimension and why active now when his life was in danger? Even Jeanne was clueless on the manner as to why he had it. Her knowledge extended primarily from her life, and only to a small extent from the Grail. The latter of which only seemed to be concerned with giving her information to protect him, albeit indirectly.
Ren supposed it made sense; he was the host of it, so it would want to protect him... though why it didn't just ask him directly, he didn't know. Her words implied that it had a consciousness, that it 'taught' her things, but at the same time she briefly said it wasn't 'living'. It wasn't like being trapped in a device, it was something else – something indescribable. Something beyond her and his understanding.
Dismissing his unusually deep thoughts, the black-haired teen leaned back on the couch, eyes gazing around his living room. The house was empty aside from him and Jeanne, as his parents were working overseas with their jobs. They planned on heading towards the town when he realized Jeanne finished changing, what with her armor and all, as she managed that Servants could change their clothes using mana to materialize them and dematerialize their existing clothes. Regardless, he wasn't keen on leaving Jeanne alone in the house while he was out by himself.
It felt wrong.
Then the sound of footsteps drew his attention, and Ren glanced over to the stairs to Jeanne descended down into the living room, wearing a loose white sleeveless blouse shirt that exposed her arms completely with a purple tie tied around her neck and dark purple button-up cardigan over it that was opened up, as a flowing purple skirt that fell just past her knees and a pair of purple stockings that reach up to her thighs while wearing black dress shoes to match the style. It fit her fairly well, though the shirt was hiked up a bit due to her chest, leaving some of her midriff exposed; said midriff covered only slightly by her cardigan.
''D-Does it suit me, Master?'' Jeanne asked uncertainly, blushing bashfully.
''Y-Yeah... It's perfect." Ren muttered with a blush of his own, though for a different reason. "You look really good wearing that, Jeanne. Almost gorgeous even..." He said rubbing his neck while glancing downward with Jeanne's face gaining a pink hue.
"Hearing that from you, making me happy Master," Jeanne replied with a smiling blush, as hearing that made her day.
After a moment he remembered something, shaking his head to dispel his lingering embarrassment before speaking.
''By the way, you don't need to call me 'Master' all the time you know. Plus it might get some weird looks since nobody really calls people that anymore.'' Ren suggested as he didn't want others to get the wrong idea if they heard her call me that.
''Very well... Ren.'' Jeanne nodded slowly, a slight smile coming to her face. ''Shall we get going?''
''Yeah, but before that can I ask you something first? This has been on my mind since last night." Ren asked her while getting a nod in response.
"Of course, Ren. Feel free to ask me anything." Jeanne asked awaiting his question.
"It's about you saying that the Holy Grail was inside of me and with it, I can summon more Servants, right?" Ren said getting another nod from the Ruler.
"Yes. Normally a Master can only summon one Servant. But since you have the Grail, you are capable of summoning more Heroic Spirits depending on your maximum mana output." Jeanne answered nonchalantly while feeling the amount of magic power Ren possesses.
"So how many can I summon with the mana I have right now?" Ren asked with great interest.
"While counting me, the current Servant your mana levels can handle are three Servants," Jeanne said making it to Ren's surprise.
"Three Servants, huh," Ren thought as that wasn't so bad before looking back at her. "Jeanne, you think it's possible I can summon them now? They deserve a chance to live too, don't they?" He asked Jeanne who looked taken aback for a moment before the expression melted into a warm smile and she nodded.
"But of course, Ren. In fact, I already taken the liberty of making the necessary preparations needed for you to perform the Summoning Ritual, last night while you were sleeping." Jeanne said with a delighted smile while clapping her hands together.
"Wait, what?" Ren said taken back in surprise at what she told him.
Underneath the house of the Amamiya residence, Ren found himself there with Jeanne as she brought them down to the basement which was incredibly large which were filled with boxes, the washer and dryer, the house furnace, support pillars, and all other sorts of stuff that be collecting dust over the years.
But in the center of the floor around all the items in the basement was a wide drawn circle with intricate and visually striking magical diagrams. The inscription seemed to be a combination of complex symbols, lines, and runes which were intersecting lines that connected various parts of the circle. Along with Latin, Arabic, Greek, and Roman letters formed around the outer ring with precise geometric patterns colored black, while at its center was the inner ring held the image of the Holy Grail.
The Summoning Circle was something that Ren immediately noticed right away the moment they entered the basement, as he had never seen this down here before.
"Um… Ruler?" Ren, who was gawking downward at the drawn circle on the very floor of his basement with curiosity. "What exactly am I looking at right?"
"This is the Summoning Circle I made last night when you were asleep Master. I made sure to make a special that can be used multiple times without having to redraw it." Jeanne answered nonchalantly standing in front of the Summoning Circle with Ren right behind her. "The Holy Grail has the ability to connect to Throne of Heroes, where it would receive data on the chosen Heroic Spirits identity and summon them as Servants for the purpose of fighting alongside their Masters in the Grail Wars." She may have no knowledge when it comes to using Magecraft but performing the Summoning Ritual is another manner entirely.
"Speak of summoning... How did I summon you in the first place without doing the ritual, anyway? You just showed up right before the Eight clan almost killed me.'' Ren asked curiously with crossed arms.
''Normally, one would use a relic or symbol connected with that spirit to act as a catalyst needed to summon a specific Servant. However, it is still possible to summon a Servant without one, and the Grail will choose a Servant whose personality best matches yours. I appeared due to the Grail sensing your imminent demise. To summon other Servants outside of a life-and-death situation, you need to draw a summoning circle and then use the power of Holy Grail's energy while letting your heart call out to them. One will answer your call.'' Jeanne informed her Master.
"Huh," Ren said out of curiosity before gazing back at the circle on the floor with Ruler's words sinking into his mind. "Maybe it might have something to do with that dream I had about her yesterday." He wondered as that might be the reason Jeanne was specifically summoned as his Servant.
Then another thought came to his mind before speaking out to the female Servant.
"Hey, wait a minute Jeanne! We can't do the Summoning Ritual here. It will destroy my house!" Ren stated with a panicked expression that he didn't want to blow up his house after witnessing how the Ruler Class Servant was summoned.
"You needn't worry about your home being destroyed, Master. I took every precaution in making sure this Summoning Ritual is safe and doesn't cause collateral damage to your home." Jeanne told him with a reassuring tone.
"Oh, okay then," Ren said in a tone of relief. "So when do we do this?"
As he asked the question a golden energy manifested around Jeanne, cladding her in light for only a brief second before vanishing with a low hiss, revealing her casual combat outfit. Golden light gathered around her outstretched hand, forming her battle flag in hand and holding it firmly while dawning an stern expression.
"Whenever you're ready, please come here." Ruler beckoned her Master to come forth, Ren remained unmoving for a short while, then nodded resolutely before moving to his Servant's side.
"Okay, so what do I need to do in order to summon a Servant?" Ren asked his Servant how this Summoning Ritual worked.
"First, you need to stand in front of the edge of the Summoning Circle, Master," The Ruler Servant sternly told her Master exactly what to do step by step to perform the Summoning Ritual.
Ren quietly nodded to the Heroic Spirit before doing what she told him and walking over in front of the Summoning Circle, and waited for his next inspection from the Ruler Class Servant.
"Now, raise your left hand with Command Spells forward in front of the circle," Jeanne instructs her Master with him raising his left arm towards the Summoning Circle. "Then, close your eyes and take a deep breath to relax your mind and body." She guides him through the ritual.
Ren obeyed, shutting his eyes and taking a deep breath before exhaling with him feeling much calmer and mind clear of random thoughts.
"Okay, what next Ruler?" Ren asked while reopening his eyes and turning his head at Jeanne for his next inspections.
"When you're ready, all that needs to be done is for your heart to call out a Servant with the Holy Grail's powers,'' Jeanne told him with a smile, before stepping away for Ren to perform the summoning.
Ren glanced focused on the Command Spells on his backhand and recalled his Servant's words of advice. The quirkless hummed in acknowledgment, while placing his right hand over his chest, feeling the thumping of his heart before taking another deep breath to calm his nerves once more and then replaced it with unwavering determination in the boy's eyes as he was ready to begin the ritual.
"Let your heart call out..." The quirkless teen thought while removing his hand from his chest, before calling on the feeling of the Holy Grail from within himself.
Behind him Jeanne stood a few paces away, watching with hidden attentiveness, and ready for anything that might happen.
Nothing had happened when the ritual began, but then a blue glow erupted the surfaced from within the Summoning Circle, before the intricate details of the circle lighted up as if charged with energy, which then turned to gold on its own accord. Ren felt a surge of magical energy emanating in the form of crimson from the Command Spells on his hand and within his felt a familiar warm sensation when he summoned Ruler for the first time, minus the pain.
The Ruler Servant silently pays close attention to the glowing circle; the feeling of the summoning process makes its presence through her senses. It was as if the very essence of Heroic Spirit themselves was being drawn into this world.
"This is it." Jeanne steeled herself as she felt a powerful presence begin to manifest within the circle. "I can feel it, the summoning has begun."
The energy flowed into the center of the Summoning Circle with it starting to grow brighter than before and causing it to glow with a brilliant light. As the air seemed to vibrate with power and the wind started to pick up too, Ren watched in bewilderment as the Command Spells on his hand shone crimson red as the Grail inside filled him with magical power, and the Summoning Circle light continued to intensify with every passing moment while calling out to a Servant in the Throne of Heroes.
Then the intensity of the light reached its peak, and for a brief moment, it seemed as if the entire world held its breath. A swirling light transformed into a whirling maelstrom of energy erupted from Summoning Circle, shooting a straight beam of blinding light into the air, followed by a blast of wind erupting all over the basement as it overwhelmed the room with its ethereal glow. This causes Ren to shield his eyes and blind his sight from the golden-white light that bloomed into existence, while Ruler remains undeterred as she feels the Heroic Spirit's presence blink into existence with them summoned into this world.
Dust swirled around the underground room, surrounding the boy and Servant in layer upon layer of smog, while Command Spells on Ren's faded back into red.
"Did it work?" Ren asked as he lowered his arms to look at the dust cloud forming around the circle.
When the dust cloud finally clears, both Master and Servant take a clear view of the new arrival standing in the center of the Summoning Circle.
The Servant before them bears a striking resemblance to the Maid of Orléans, albeit with distinctive features while donning a draconic black armor that made her give off a much colder and darker presence. She has short white-blond hair with an ahoge with a pale complexion that looks more dead than alive. Her clothes and armor are of fine make, but black and red with a darker color palette for her black armor around her waist and her arms with darker clothes covering her upper body, while wearing a black cape with two red crosses on opposite sides and red highlights at the ends of the edges. To top it off, she bore her own flag and sword sheathed at her hip as well. The sword she wielded was black like her armor and beside her right hand held a black pole bearing a banner similar yet different to the fleur-de-lis symbols, where this one depicted a golden array of shimmering symbols of both pride and place, while taking on a different meaning altogether, a white surface emblazoned with a blackened dragon, a stark contrast to the Saint's heavenly aura.
"It can't be..." Jeanne gasped in shock and disbelief at the familiar sight before her, as she didn't expect someone like her to answer the summoning call.
"Jeanne?" Ren said quietly in a low tone, staring at the new Servant with disbelief as mistaken her for Jeanne at that moment.
Before the two could say anything else to the other Jeanne's eyes flickered open, revealing them to be pale yellow eyes that looked like a dragon's. For a moment they seemed to stare at nothing before suddenly they honed in on Ren, piercing coldly at him like she was trying to burn him alive. It felt the complete opposite of what Jeanne he gotten to known eyes looked like, as they were full of kindness, warmth, and hope, while this Jeanne's eyes were filled with scorn, anger, and hatred.
But despite that negative, she was admitting and the cold piercing gaze from her stare, Ren was rather mesmerized by this other Jeanne too while madly blushing at her mystically beautiful and bad-girl appearance as she looked like a different version of Jeanne d'Arc.
One that took a much darker path.
But to the quirkless boy, she looked hot. Unbelievably hot both figurately and literally, even when she was gazing at him with a scornful expression across her beautiful face.
After what seemed like a long silence, the newly summoned Servant began to speak which got both Ren and Ruler out of their stupor.
"This is most unexpected." The black armor woman said in a cold tone that led to any warning or emotions. "To be summoned at all is a surprise, but in a world where humanity evolved to the point they developed supernatural powers." She stated before clicking her tongue in annoyance as if she was already doing with this shit. "Well, whatever, I'm here now and might as well make the most of my time." She muttered before making the banner in her hand disappear.
Then the doppelganger Servant glanced towards her summoner while sizing him up before starting the introduction.
"Servant, Avenger. Summoned upon your request." Jeanne d'Arc Alter replied bluntly to her Master before noticing the way he was staring at her. "...What's with that look?" She growled in annoyance at the boy's silence.
"Nothing, you just surprised me that's all, looking Jeanne over there," Ren answered awkwardly while pointing at the Ruler Servant behind him, who's been quiet this whole time since the summoning.
From behind, Jeanne seemed in a daze, staring at the not-so-long-lost sight of her would-be sister. She raised a hand to call out to her but found herself speechless, completely overwhelmed with the emotions of seeing her again.
The Alter Servant's eyes flashed to the side, making eye contact with the Saint herself, a whole host of conflicting emotions boiling up after seeing her lighter counterpart summoned here before her. Then let out a scoff of annoyance before shifting her attention back to the teen, not wanting to deal with her other self right at the moment.
"My aren't you a savior," The Avenger Class Servant grumbled sarcastically in irritation while rolling her eyes. "The world could do with less of those," She muttered as the Servant stood there with her arms crossed and glaring at them.
"I don't think of myself as that," Ren said bluntly in a serious manner, much to Jeanne Alter's surprise as she didn't expect that kind of response from the Master. "And you're right about the world having too many heroes, as I want to be something more. Something different. And I hope that you can help me with that Avenger." He asked with a small smile.
Jeanne Alter stared silently at the black-haired teen with a look of intriguement in her eyes, before looking away and muttered something. "Whatever, at least you're not naive Master..."
But they didn't see the light blush on her face after looking in the opposite direction from them.
Ren took a liking to the new Servant he summoned. She had an interesting nature to her and an alternate version of Jeanne, which was something he didn't mean one bit.
But then the other Jeanne finally found the strength to walk toward the Alter, past her Master, coming to a stop just before her doppelganger, rubbing a hand along her arm.
"Hello again..." Jeanne greeted her doppelganger in both a happy and joyful tone. "Honestly... I should be grateful I even get a chance to see you again like this sister." She stares at Alter glaring back at her.
"How many bloody times did I tell you to stop cal-!" The Avenger snapped at her original counterpart, before being brought into a bone-popping hug as Jeanne wrapped her arms around her 'sister' with a hug of reuniting, as a visible tick mark appeared on the other girl's face, "Oh, not this pathetic shit again! LET GO!" The girl protested but couldn't do a thing to stop it, her head perched onto the Saint's shoulder.
Jeanne only smiled, nuzzling deeper into her shoulder, "No, I don't want to." She replied.
"I SAID LET GO, GODDAMN IT!" Alter yelled, putting every bit of fight left in her to wiggle herself free, unable to escape the icon's grasp, screaming in frustration again, "I'M SERIOUS, I'LL... I'LL BURN YOU IF YOU DON'T LET GO RIGHT NOW!"
"No, you won't." Jeanne simply replied letting off a gentle hum, even as the girl's hands ignited in ethereal flames, the Saint wouldn't let go. "Well, you might, but even if you do, I'll still love my little sister all the same... that's the decision I made that day... to care for you no matter what path you take." She stated, much to the doppelganger's irritation.
Avenger was shaking with rage at this point, her burning hands dissipated, and her arms fell to the ground, not doing anything, "I swear even after all this time you're still the same as ever. That side of yours really pisses me off..." She grumbled.
As the Alter growled like an angry dog at the Saint's refusal, Ren quietly watched the exchange between Jeanne and her Alter counterpart; the former seemed all too happy to hear the latter hurling insults at her while blushing in embarrassment. Other than that, Alter hadn't summoned her flag or drew her sword. If anything, she looked more annoyed at everything. It seemed like their moment, and the quirkless teen didn't want to intrude on that.
"What is the history between these two?" Ren thought in curiosity at what the two Servants relationship is. "I take it you two are familiar with each other given how well-acquired you are?" He said out loud with the two Servants looking in his general direction.
"Yes, indeed Master!" Jeanne exclaimed as her pretty blue eyes sparkled. "We meet during our time with Chaldea!"
"Chaldea?" Ren asked as he felt like he was missing something important.
"I'll tell you about it later, Master," Jeanne said as it wasn't important right now. "Just know that I am..." She paused for a moment before, giving him a bright smile. "Thank you for giving us this chance to reunite and be a real family!"
"I'm not your damn sister!" Jeanne Alter snarled thrashing around in her hold like a rabid animal.
"You don't gotta thank me for stuff like this. We're a team now, and teams support each other." Ren said while rubbing the back of his neck, before looking at the doppelganger. "So what do I call you, since it going to be pretty confusing having two people with the same name?"
"Well to make things clear, I'm not the real Jeanne d'Arc," The Avenger said with crossed arms. "Never was. I'm just a twisted version of her created from the anger and resentment Gilles de Rais felt for France after her death."
"Gilles de Rais?" Ren said while raising a brow as he sounded familiar for some reason. "You mean Bluebeard? That famous child murder responsible for the death of several innocent children?" He said with wide eyes shock and disgust.
"Yeah, him..." The Avenger growled in disgust at the thought of that man lying to her about being real. "He just basically wished me into existence from the Grail." She started with her fist clenched in frustration.
"Gilles..." Jeanne thought sadly at the proud man she once knew, who had fallen into despair after her death.
"That is messed up," Ren commented with a frown. "So if you don't want to be called Jeanne, what would you prefer us to call you?"
"Back at Chaldea, everyone just referred to me as Jalter so just use that name from now on or call me by my Servant Class," Jalter said scoffing as she really didn't care anymore.
"Jalter?" Ren thought before he figured it out, as it was a play on words. "Oh, I get it now. Jeanne and Alter put together. That's pretty clever." He nodded in understanding before speaking up to her. "Well, happily to have you here with us, Jalter."
"Tch, don't expect me to bend a knee and call you Master, got it?" Jalter grumbled rudely.
I'd rather you just call me Ren." Ren said to her with a deadpanned expression, as he watched her smugly grin up at him despite being held in place by Jeanne.
"Hmph, as if I'd ever be on a first-name basis with someone I just met today. But I guess I don't get much of a chance now do I, since I answered your summoning." Jalter said bluntly without any hint of argument. "Fine, I'll stay with you for now. But will you let me go already?!" She raged at Jeanne still holding her.
"Not until you call me sister." Jeanne shook her head.
"What are you, my freaking mom? Get off!" Jalter yelled in frustration.
Jeanne raised a finger, a joyful look on her pale features. "No. I'm your big sister. Why don't you try calling me that? Call me Big Sis." She stated.
"LIKE HELL YOU BLOND BITCH! NOW RELEASE ME ALREADY!" Jalter screamed at her, but Jeanne just kept her smile as she continued hugging the Alter Servant despite the Avenger's struggles. "I'M STRONGER! HOW THE HELL ARE YOU HOLDING ME LIKE THIS?!"
"Big sister powers of course!" Jeanne declared with her smile never wavered, as she continued embracing her 'sister' tightly.
Seconds ticked by before she dropped her head in defeat, and gave her original self a slightly nasty glare.
"I hate you so much," Jalter muttered while blushing from the affection.
"I love you too, sister," Jeanne replied while smiling.
"Man, you can't pay for entertainment like this," Ren commented with a grin as he found this to be pretty funny, like watching one of those family comedy shows on TV.
Jalter then snapped at her Master's comment. "Shut it! She's not my God-forsaken-"
Jeanne giggled before releasing the girl from her hug and shoved her off to the other side of the room. "As fun, as this see you again Jalter, we still have another Servant summon. Master, if you would?" She asked with them standing behind him.
"Oh, right! I completely forgot!" Ren said before turning back to the Summoning Circle and stepping forward in front of it, as it performed another summoning. "Okay, here goes..." He said taking a deep breath before raising his left arm to start up the ritual again.
"He's planning on summoning another Servant besides me?" Jalter asked her other self, who stood right beside her and nodded back.
"Yes, Ren's mana can let him have more than three Servants at the moment," Jeanne replied seriously to her alter self, while not taking her eyes off the ritual. "I'm pretty sure you noticed by now that he has the Grail."
"Of course, I did. Who do you take me for anyway." Jalter replied bluntly as she already felt the Grail's possesses within the boy, the moment she lead eyes on him. "So what the hell are we going to do about, it since no Holy Grail War is going on?"
"Right now, I would like to wait and see what our Master would do first before deciding anything," Jeanne stated sternly before the light on the Summoning Circle started to appear. "Get right." She told her sister, who only 'tsk' in response before doing what the Ruler said.
Just like before with the first summoning, a bright light engulfed the basement with air pressure shifting while Ren had his outstretched arm at the golden circle and using the power of the Holy Grail to call out to another Servant, before a couple of seconds later another burst exploded from the Summoning Circle with the pillar of light blinded the room, but this time Ren was proper for this as he didn't shield his eyes and his two Servants were unaffected by the light.
The moment the light and dust could, the group saw the third newly Servant standing before them.
Her clothing was very revealing, she wore a top being white that was outlined with gold and exposed a bit of cleavage along her lower back and stomach, she also wore a black-gold thong. She also wore a dark blue stirrup with gold ornaments on her right leg, a gold bracelet on her left ankle, and was barefoot. Her left arm was outfitted with a black and gold glove that covered her forearm, while her right arm had a golden bracelet around her upper arm. Most notable, was the huge blue and gold bow floating beside her right side in mid-air that was twice the size of her body.
Ren only stared at the Servant's appearance and instantly thought that it was a hero costume you don't see around every day... but still, there was something about her that was different from the normal Servants he'd seen so far. Then his thoughts were broken when she towards him with a hand on her hips.
"Answer this question human... are you my Master?" The black-haired Servant asked in a somewhat high and mighty tone of self-importance.
"Yes, and my name is Ren Amamiya," Ren introduced himself and then gave a nod. "Now please state your True Name and Servant Class." He asked kindly in a firm tone.
The black girl only ended up grinning in response to the boy's confidence before answering back.
"Very, well. I am Ishtar, the Goddess of Beauty and Governor of Venus who has answered your call. An Archer Class Servant." Ishtar said proudly with a smirk while flapping the hair on her right side. "Fear me and do your best to satisfy me with tribute and reverence!" She finished her introduction, leaving Ren somewhere surprised.
"Wait a minute, that girl is the Goddess Ishtar? The one I read from the history books?" Ren thought with a slightly wide eye as he ended up summoning a goddess as his Servant. "But then again Jeanne did say that Servants are epic heroes, mythic beings, and famous people from the past that went down in human history. Her titles even show that she's incredibly powerful and a force to be reckoned with. And I'm now her master? Jeez..."
Plus, the Goddess of Beauty part was right on, given that she's just as beautiful looking as Jeanne and Jalter.
"It seems that the Summon Ritual was successful, Master," Jeanne said walking up to her Master and Ishtar with Jalter beside her. "Now with this, you have Servants at your beck and call." She said with a smile as everything worked out perfectly.
"Yeah, it was," Ren said feeling a bit unsure about this new arrangement, even know he suggested it in the first place. "But I do feel a bit tired now."
"That's to be expected since summoning multiple Servants at once and with them feeding off your mana to stay in this world." Jeanne reminded him that having more than one Servant was taxing. "But once you start your training to increase your mana that will change."
"Right, then we'll start on that once I'm healed up," Ren said while still recovering from his beating from yesterday.
"I take it that you two are Servants that he's already summoned?" Ishtar asked with her arms crossed while eyeing the two Servants.
"Indeed, we are Goddess of Venus. Servant Ruler, true name Jeanne d'Arc, it is a pleasure to meet you. I hope we can get along well." Jeanne politely introduced her to the Archer Servant, before raising a hand at her other self. "And this right here is my little sister, Jalter."
"For the last time, I'm not your goddamn sister!" Jalter snapped at her original counterpart for making such a statement, before looking at Ishtar with narrow eyes that lacked any of her usual hate. "I'm known as Jeanne d'Arc Alter, Avenger Servant, though call me Jalter. I'd rather not be associated with this saint over here if it can be helped."
"A Ruler and Avenger Class Servants both being summoned by the same Master. And two that lookalike no less. That's something you don't see every day." Ishtar commented with a raised eyebrow at the strange phenomena, before sigh defeat. "Well, whatever, it's manner not to me anyway. I got the jest of everything I needed to know from being summoned to this new reality, so as long our Master here can satisfy my every desire then I'm more than content with following him." She said smugly while her eyes closed and playing with her hair a little.
Like the other two Servants who were summoned here before her, Ishtar had received information about this new world and how its society functions from the Holy Grail while finding it to be interesting, to say the least. At least the goddess found herself some source of amusement even if it was on Holy Grail War going on.
"I don't know about everything but I'll try my best to live up to your expectations Ishtar," Ren said to the goddess with a tiny smile, as this cough the goddess off the ground with her looking a bit frantic.
"W-Well, fine... for your sake, I will expect you to be the perfect Master for me. You should feel honored." Ishtar stated with a light blush on her cheeks then scoffed and looked away in response, almost Tsundere-like.
"I won't let you down," Ren told her with a nod.
"Good to hear," Ishtar replied before looking back at the boy with narrow eyes, but not in a bad way. "But still, having a Holy Grail inside your body? I'm surprised he didn't turn inside out like the rest of the Lesser Grails."
"Indeed. That would be troubling, which is why we need to figure out how he came into contact with the Grail in the first place." Jeanne said seriously as this was something she was going to get to the bottom of for Ren's sake. "But in the meantime, I think it's time we headed out like we planned Master." She changed the subject while remembering her Master about what they were planning to do earlier
"You're right, Jeanne. This isn't something we couldn't avoid today." Ren said with a nod, as he was glad that Ruler remained with him.
"Wait, heading out to where?" Ishtar asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Yesterday after I summoned Jeanne, we're planning on heading out into the city to do some food and clothes shopping for her," Ren told them, much to their surprise.
"Well, in that case, I'm coming to!" Ishtar declared with a tone of excitement and thrill with Ren giving her a strange look that she took notice of. "What's with that look? You expect me to sit here all day, while you and Ruler have fun in the city? Not a chance! Because I'm coming with you whether you like it or not mister!" She stated while pointing a finger in Ren's face, as she looked at him with a cute glare.
Ren only stared at the goddess with a blank expression for a few seconds before signing as he didn't plan on leaving her behind in the first place.
"Sure, why not? Besides we need to buy stuff for you and Jalter since you'll be staying here too." Ren said that this was getting expensive, and now he was going to make another trip to the bank to get more money. Then his eyes fell onto the Avenger Servant before speaking to her. "What about you? Do you want to come with us too?"
"Tsk, find I'll come along with you. Beats stay, here all alone." Jalter replied with her arms crossed while looking the other way from her Master.
"Great, we're going to need help carrying all those bags back anyway," Jeanne said with a smile, as she was looking forward to spending quality time with her sister, making Jalter growl in response. "But before we leave the house, we must dress into more appropriate clothing." She said realizing that she was still in her battle armor, before switching back to the normal clothes she was wearing this morning in a flash of golden light.
"Okay, you both too," Ren said as he closed over at the two Servants he just summoned. "We're not leaving the house, until two changes." He said with a serious response.
"Huh?" Both the Archer and Avenger Class Servants looked back surprised by the request from their Master.
"Why the hell do we have to do that?" Jalter asked rudely. "Besides, it would be any different concerning that there are hundreds of idiots dressed in ridiculous costumes out there."
"That's different, Jalter. If you're going to live in this world then you'll have to abide by its rules as is to avoid causing trouble for Ren, since all of our actions will affect him due to people thinking we're his quirk." Jeanne told her sister in a scolding manner.
Jalter only stared back at the saint with a glare for a few seconds, before signing in irritation at the fact they had to follow such a stupid since there was no magic in this world.
Then light surrounded her, and once the light died down it revealed a new form of attire. Instead of the black armor, she was now wearing a black dress that goes down to her thighs barely and a silver zipper on the front with a silver necklace that has a anchor like piece, a navy blue long sleeve jack with orange edges where she can button up the jacket, the inside of the jacket is crimson red, black fur on the jacket's wrists and around the neck minus the front, and she wears a pair of black boots that reaches up almost to her knees with heels and three straps on the foreleg.
Ren's jaw literally almost dropped from the Avenger Class Servant's new attire. She was different from her Ruler counterparts, being both sexy and hot.
"Oh damn, she is hot," Ren commented to himself without thinking, but the others heard him, especially the Avenger.
"You little... bastard don't call me something like that!" Jalter shouted at him with an insane glare, causing the boy to flinch at her outburst and raise his hands in a defensive matter.
"Crap! Did I just say that without thinking?!" Ren said while mentally cursing him. "Hey, it was a compliment! Perhaps the word "hot" reminds you about the Rewind, hey I can use other words, like: Cute, sexy, hot bread, Friday, or even ZA Waru-"
"Stop! For God's sake can you shut up for a single second!" Jalter screamed while shutting him up from speaking further, as faint red tint on her cheeks.
Jeanne giggled in delight, It was weird to see her sister showing much emotion than her usual angry and cold behavior.
"Again, my bad. It's just that the last few hours has been stressful and I'm not used to being around pretty girls." Ren stated noncausally with a nervous chuckle, as the three Servants reacted with blushes across their faces.
"M-Master!"Jeanne squirms while clamping her together from the compliment.
"I'm not surprised, since my beauty is unrivaled after all," Ishtar stated arrogantly with her eyes closed and arms crossed while hiding the fact the boy's comment made her happy.
"Just… just be more careful in the future," Jalter muttered with a harsh glare on her beautiful face as her faint tint transformed into a blush, but she shook it off. "Say something like that again to my face, and I'll burn you alive."
She was an Avenger Class for crap's sake! No one had ever referred to her as pretty before!
"Duly noted..." Ren said in agreement as he needed to be more careful with what he thinks in the future before looking at the Archer Servant. "Okay, Ishtar you're next."
"Even if I wanted to change, I don't have any other outfits besides this one," Ishtar said to the boy in irritation.
"Well, that won't do, because you're not going out dressed like that," Ren said as he was thinking about how to solve this problem. "Guess I got no choice. Let's see if my Mom got some clothes for you to wear."
"Wait, what?" Ishtar blinked in confusion at her Master's words.
The four then found themselves out in front of the house ready to leave for the city and Ishtar dressed in different clothes after Ren gave her something from his Mother's closet.
Ishtar instead of wearing her usual servant attire, was wearing a green jacket, white t-shirt, and yellow skirt with black boots which were all borrowed from Ren's Mother as they were about the same size.
"Why did you make me wear this?!" Ishtar asked in irritation with her red eyes glaring at Ren.
"It makes you not be the center of attention," Ren said while locking the door to his house before walking up to the others. "The last thing we want is getting arrested for indecency and paying a fine."
"He's got a point. I would rather not deal with a bunch of annoying heroes." Jalter muttered in irritated at the thought alone.
"These world's laws are starting to get on my nerves," Ishtar said in an annoyed tone, as she didn't like being restrained in using her ability.
"I know. They can be real annoying at times." Ren agreed with her on that statement. "But there's nothing we do about it unless you want every hero in Musutafu on our asses."
"Whatever, let's just get going already," Ishtar said rolling her eyes with a huff, before looking Ren's way. "So, where to first Ren?"
"First to the bank and get more money, since we have a lot of things to buy," Ren said as he needed more money.
"Sorry for making you do this for us, Master?" Jeanne said with a frown and a guilty look.
"Don't worry about it, Jeanne. Think nothing of it." Ren replied before walking ahead. "Anyway, come on guys. I'll show you around the city while shopping too."
The three Servants followed behind Ren, as they began their exploration around Musutafu.
