Hey, this has taken longer than anticipated as I have just started my new job which is very intense haha, I don't even have chapter 19 finished yet because I'm unsure where this is going, I'm just going with the flow at this point. Some of the names I will be using will just be ring names as it is way easier to keep track of in the story.
"Are you sure you're going to be ok tonight?" Adam asked as we made our way back to the hotel, I half smiled at his concern.
"I'll be fine Adam" I rolled my eyes "I'm 28 next week I think that means I can handle an evening alone" I said sarcasm dripping from my tone.
"Yeah, I just feel bad that I invited you out here and I'm leaving you" He replied ignoring my sarcasm as he pulled into the hotel carpark.
"Adam, seriously I'm a big girl I'll be absolutely fine" I turned to face him as the car came to a stop "You need to spend some time with Beth, she came out here knowing you would be here to surprise you and you've not spent any time with her at all I can't imagine that has gone down too well"
"Yeah…It hasn't" He cringed "She's pretty pissed that you're even here"
"Right go in there and romance the shit out of her" I laughed playfully slapping his leg "I'm sure she'll come round" I said getting out of the car "I'll see you tomorrow when we leave for the airport"
"See you tomorrow" Adam said wrapping his arms around me before we went our separate ways.
"Hey Jayme" A thick English accent came from across the hotel reception.
"Oh hey Paige" I grinned with a quick wave.
"What are you and Adam up to tonight?" She asked.
"Umm…" I tilted my head to one side in confusion, were we really at the point that people looked at us as a package deal? No wonder Beth was so upset, I'd be pretty pissed to if my fiancé was always thought of as with someone that wasn't me. "Adams off out with Beth" I told her "I was just going to watch a film and maybe get a takeaway, Adam made me eat a salad earlier…it was hell" I grimaced earning a laugh from Paige.
"Oh…I assumed that you guys would just be doing something together" She shrugged.
"Please don't" I complained shaking my head slightly "He's in a relationship with Beth not me" I told her matter-of-factly "We are just friends".
"I'm not getting into that discussion" She snickered with a quick shake of her head "I was just coming over to see if you wanted to come out with everyone tonight?" She asked.
"Who's going?"
"Just the usual gang and a couple of extras, Stu Bennett who's usually on NXT nowadays, Finn Balor, Alexa, Bianca and Seth" Paige answered, "So what do you say, are you in?" In all honesty I just wanted to stay in, I was so emotionally exhausted I just couldn't face meeting more new people but judging by the look on Paige's face she wasn't about to take no for an answer. I took a deep breath and nodded reluctantly agreeing to a night out, just a couple of drinks I thought to myself and then I'd make a quick exit. "Great me and a couple of the girls are meeting down here in two hours I'll see you then" She grinned before leaving. I quickly dashed up the stairs to my room and jumped in the shower. I got myself dressed in dark green laced body suit that Isabelle had given me as a joke to 'impress' Adam and a pair of high waisted faux leather leggings paired with a set of chunky black lace up boots. I quickly brushed my hair out and put a some make up on including the winged eyeliner which had now become something I always did, leaving Gavin behind for good had given me a newfound confidence not just in myself and as a result I had never felt more myself than in that moment dressed in clothes that made me feel good ready for a night out. I stepped in the lift and pressed the button for the reception before pulling my phone out and sending a quick text to Isabelle.
Another night out tonight and I'm wearing the bodysuit you gave me,
thank you.

No problem, I'm sure Adam's eyes will fall out of his head when he sees you

I smiled at the last text I received before putting my phone in my back pocket, the lift dinged as it stopped two floors away from the reception. I sighed as the doors opened and I came face to face with Adam and Beth holding hands, his eyes widened as he laid eyes on me, and I could have sworn he tried to drop Beth's hand but she was holding too tight. He stood rooted to the spot for a second before Beth all but dragged him in to the lift. Silently we went down the rest of the way every few seconds Adam would steal a quick glance out of the corner of his eye at me, his throat bulging as took big gulps each time he did. I nervously bit my bottom lip causing him to clear his throat to avoid making a more suggestive noise. The lift dinged once more to signal we were on the correct floor, the doors slid open, and Beth pulled Adam out with her before I could say anything. I smiled quietly to myself and stepped out making my way over to Paige, Nattie and two girls I had never seen before.
"Hey Jay, this is Alexa and Bianca" Nattie smiled as she sees me approach.
"Woah girl you look hot" Paige whistled as she saw me "For anyone in particular?" She winked suggestively.
"Hey guys I'm Jayme" I smiled giving the two girls a quick wave "And nobody but myself Paige" I snipped raising an eyebrow, I was done with these suggestions that something was going on between me and Adam. Before the conversation could go any further Nattie suggested we make our way to the club thankfully this distracted everybody from the direction the conversation was going in and we left as a group.
It was cold out and the line for the club was long I swore silently at the thought that we would need to wait in the queue for god knows how long freezing our arses off, the girls didn't seem the least bit concerned as they began walking past the long line and straight towards the bouncers on the front, I followed without a word completely confused but refusing to argue with them due to the cold temperature and the fact I had forgotten a jacket. We reached the bouncers and they waved each of us in without a word, I looked at Nattie in complete confusion who let out a small laugh and leant in so I could hear her over the blaring music.
"We're WWE Divas Jay we don't need to que" She informed me, I laughed in disbelief and shook my head a little not quite believing this was happening and that I was now someone who didn't need to que at a club. "What are you drinking?" She asked pulling me from my thoughts.
"I uhhh…" I stammered, I'd only been on one night out before and I had only drank cocktails, the guys had no idea I was new to the world of going out and drinking alcohol, I looked over to the bar and scanned the bottles on the back trying to find something, anything I recognised to hide my naivety "Vodka" I nodded towards the bottle on the back "With coke". A moment later I was stood at the bar with a double vodka coke in my hand as the rest of the girls all got themselves a drink.
"The rest of the guys are all in the VIP section" Paige shouted over the music to us, each of us followed her through the crowd and up in to a roped over where Mike, John, Randy and Charlotte all were waiting, with them was a number of guys that I hadn't met yet and did not recognise. "Stu, Finn, Seth this is Jay, she's going to be joining WWE as of next month" Paige introduced me, one by one they all turned around and said hello and introduced themselves, I was beginning to think it was an entry requirement to be attractive when doing this job as I hadn't met someone yet who wasn't absolutely beautiful. I tucked a piece of hair behind my ear and sipped at my drink. One by one each of the girls went to dance taking a couple of the guys with them, I had politely declined several times, with the thinking that as soon as they were all on the dance floor I would make my swift and quiet exit before any of them could persuade me to say.
"What you drinkin' love?" Came a male voice from behind me, it was an accent I recognised, and I was beginning to think that there were a lot of people from England here and I wouldn't be as much of a minority as I thought.
"I…Uhhh….I was going to go…" I stammered putting my empty glass on the table.
"Oh come on" He chuckled "Don't leave me with this lot, they'll be out on the dance floor all night and then I'll be left in charge of getting them home and making sure they don't hurt themselves" He was sat on one of the leather sofas looking up at me a confident smirk spread on his face "Stu Bennett" He said holding his hand out for me to shake.
"Jayme Pearce" I introduced myself shaking his hand.
"Why don't you take a seat whilst I get us a couple more drinks?" He suggested standing up and leaving the VIP section before I could say no. I slumped into the corner of the sofa and pulled me phone out to check it, no messages from Adam, I sighed putting it back away annoyed with myself for caring so much that he hadn't contacted me. A moment later Stu was back handing me a drink. "I wasn't sure what you had so I just got you a vodka it's what most of the girls here drink" He shrugged.
"That's great thank you" I smiled.
"So tell me about yourself Jayme, how long have you been wrestling?" He asked resting his elbow on the back of the sofa and turning to face me so I knew I had his full attention, I winced at the question.
"Only a few months" I answered awkwardly "When me and Adam met I had never even really watched wrestling but I needed an escape so he started teaching me some moves and that's how I ended up here he thought I had something and he pulled some strings" I looked down in to my drink "I know it's not a good look that he did this for me but the more time I spend here the more determined I am to prove I could have done it without his help" I explained.
"Your talent is what defines you not who you know" He replied sipping his drink.
"I hope so" I whispered in response.
"Maybe I could show you a thing or two in the ring" He winked with a smirk "I think it could be fun" He shrugged.
"Yeah maybe" I nodded biting my lip trying not to laugh nervously.
"How long are you here for?"
"I leave tomorrow afternoon to fly back to…" I began before being interrupted by Adam plopping himself down between us "Adam…What…"
"Beth wanted to meet up with Nattie, so I thought I'd come say hi" He smiled glancing at my boobs for a split second that I was sure he thought I hadn't noticed, I raised an eyebrow in a silent warning letting him know that I had noticed exactly what he was looking at.
"How was dinner?" I asked.
"Yeah, it was good" He nodded "How's your night?" I could see Stu looking confused behind Adam.
"Yeah great, I've just been chatting to Stu" I told him "He's offered to help me train" I announced, Adam's jaw tightened slightly.
"Yeah?" He turned to look at Stu for the first time "Careful, she's good" He stated.
"I bet" Stu nodded before leaning forward in order to see me around Adam. "Did you say you wanted some air?" He asked, I furrowed my brows in confusion for a moment before understanding what he was doing. I looked to Adam who was watching me intently waiting for my answer, I thought for a second, sit here and making idle chit chat with Adam whilst Beth stood staring daggers from the bar, or go outside with Stu.
"Yeah, I did it's so hot in here" I smiled fanning myself with my hand "See you in a bit Adam" I said wrapping a quick arm around his shoulders, his hand rested on the bottom of my back, and I could have sworn as I pulled away, he tried to stop me from going.
"See you later" He called after me as I left the VIP area with Stu. We stepped outside and a wave of cool air hit me, I closed my eyes for a second letting the air bring my temperature down.
"What was that?" Stu asked as we took a seat on a small wall just outside the club.
"What was what?" I played dumb to what he was asking hoping that he wouldn't press the conversation if he thought I didn't know what he was asking about.
'With Adam…He didn't seem to like you talking to me" He pointed out, I chuckled in response.
"Yeah that's just Adam…It's nothing to do with you Stu, he's just really protective we met during a tough time for me so now I rely on him a lot and he feels the need to protect me all the time" I explained "Probably seems weird to everyone else but he's my best friend" I added picking at my nails nervously.
"We were just talking" He pointed out.
"I know" I responded "I think he's just worried about me, I split up with my husband recently and it kind of hit me hard and he saw me at my lowest." I slowly looked up at Stu who was sat looking at me with kind eyes.
"Wow…I'm sorry to hear that" He said gently placing a hand on my shoulder "I guess it kind of makes sense that Adam would be the way he is then" He conceded "Can I ask what happened between you and your husband?"
"Uhhh…He cheated" I admitted, Stu's face hardened looking annoyed "With my best friend" Stu's face went from angry to completely horrified in a split second "Well that's the basics anyway" I shrugged not wanting to tell him anymore about how controlling Gavin had been towards me and how pathetic that still made me feel.
"Scumbag" He growled in response, we sat silently for a moment neither of us knowing what to say next, suddenly Stu's hand began to creep towards my own I hesitated for a second not sure what to do in such a situation he must have sensed my nervousness as he also hesitated for a moment. "I think that this ex-husband of yours lost someone really special" He took my hand in his inter-locking our fingers "He sounds like an idiot" He added, I blushed as I tried not to giggle like a little girl.
"There you are" Paige shouted out the door making us drop each other's hands and snap our heads round "We are getting shots in now get your arse back here" She demanded as she gestured for me to follow her back to the bar.
"I best get back" I told him standing up to follow Paige.
"Hang on" He called grabbing my arm and turning me around, I spun on my heel before I could register anything else Stu planted a quick but firm kiss on my lips "Sorry I couldn't not do that" He chuckled. I stood in complete shock for a moment before smiling slightly back at him.
"I really should get back in there" I told him as I turned back around to come face to face with Adam, how long he'd been there I don't know but judging by the look on his face he wasn't happy with what he had just seen. Wordlessly both me and Stu walked straight past and back into the club. Everyone was stood around chatting and laughing, Paige handed me a shot of a pink milky coloured liquid I grimaced as I threw it back and it burned my throat. I spent the next couple of hours throwing shots back and drinking vodka with Paige whilst Beth stood staring at me from the VIP section, I was too scared go back in there for fear of what she may say. The more time I spent with Paige the more I felt as though we were going to become good friends.
"Hey beautiful" A guy came up behind me on the dancefloor trying to wrap his arms around me, I stumbled forward trying to get away "Don't be shy" He slurred making a lunge for me, Paige grabbed me out the way.
"Get lost" She snarled at him.
"Was I talking to you?" He said getting into her face before looking back at me "Now let me buy you a drink" He ordered grabbing my arm into a tight grip.
"Get off me" I shouted trying to pull my arm away, but his grip was tighter than I expected, Paige again tried to pull me back, but the guy was strong, and he pushed her back sending her flying into the crowd. Out of nowhere a fist suddenly connected with the guy's face and he was on the floor, a pair of arms pulled me into them, and I tried to fight my way out not knowing who was now holding on to me.
