We walked for what felt like hours in complete silence, in reality it was only a few minutes, the air was cold, and I was sure it would start to snow soon. Christmas was only a few days away so there were a lot of party goers walking the streets all in the festive spirit singing Christmas songs, laughing and getting lost in all the festivities of the time of year. I beamed as I watched everyone enjoy their night and get in to the festive spirit.

"I'm sorry I ruined your night" Adam mumbled hid head swaying as he spoke; our hands were still intwined as we walked.

"You didn't" I told him with a quick shake of my head "I've had enough to drink really" I admitted with a laugh. I stumbled suddenly proving just how much I had had to drink, Adam caught me before I fell, and we both began to laugh loudly in the middle of the street.

"I see what you mean" He snickered wiping his eyes of the tears that had formed from laughing so hard "Thank you for stopping me back there" He said gesturing back towards the bar "I was ready to really do some damage" He admitted awkwardly, I thought for a moment about what he would have done if I hadn't of stepped in.

"What happened?" I asked.

"Nothing he was just an ass looking for a fight" He stopped to swallow hard and focused hard on his words as he spoke "It happens more often than you'd think…" He hiccupped "…when wrestlers are out, they try to show off to their mates" He shrugged.

"Why didn't you tell him to go away?"

"I did" Adam answered, "but he pressed the wrong buttons turns out there's an article flying around about Beth and me breaking up" He explained "It doesn't paint me in a very good light" He admitted with a sigh.

"People don't know what's happened it's all lies Adam" I said angrily as I reassured him with a tight squeeze of his hand. Rage filled me as I thought about someone writing the article about Adam without even knowing the situation or even speaking to him themselves, they had just decided they knew all about him and what had happened.

"I know" He conceded letting go of my hand and wrapping his arm around my shoulder.

"Come on let's get you home"

The taxi stopped in Adam's driveway, I gave him a nudge to wake him and let him know he was home, he had fallen asleep almost the instant we had climbed into the back of the car. He stirred a little and grabbed my hand.

"Stay with me" He slurred, the alcohol seemed to have hit him all at once and he could now barely keep his head up.

"You'll be fine Adam" I told him "I'll help you inside and then I'll go home" I told him.

"No" He whined flinging the taxi door open and throwing up on the driveway, I sighed in exasperation and gave in, apologising to the taxi driver I paid and got out before walking round to Adam who was now trying to get himself out of the car whilst trying to avoid the sick on the floor. I bent down and put my hands under his arms pulled him to standing throwing his arm over my shoulder and walking him to the house, thankfully he was still able to walk he just needed help balancing. We struggled through the door, I thought better than struggling with him up the stairs, so I decided upon throwing him on the sofa where he promptly passed out. I stumbled through to the kitchen and poured two glasses of water, one I placed next to Adam, the other I kept for myself sitting myself in the armchair I slowly sipped on the water as I searched for the article referencing Adam and Beth. A few minutes later I found what I was looking for.

Adam Copeland and Beth Phoenix split up amid rumours that the rated 'R' superstar has been having an affair back in Asheville. We can confirm that a source close to the superstars has told us that the pair have gone their separate ways after it was discovered Adam was having an affair with a mystery woman 20 years his junior. Many fans will remember this is not the first time he has done something like this has he had an affair whilst married to his second wife with his close friend Matt Hardy's girlfriend Lita.

I sat reading in horror, my hand over my mouth as I read the article, were they talking about me? Who had told them these lies? Adam had never mentioned that the reason he and his second wife had split up was because he had had an affair with a friends' girlfriend. I looked over at Adam comatose on the sofa snoring with his mouth open slightly, did he make a habit of sleeping behind partners backs? I continued to read.

It is reported that mystery woman in question has been signed to WWE and is scheduled to make her debut next month so it seems we may not have to wait long to find out who the woman is who has tempted the rated 'R' superstar away from his long-time girlfriend the glamazon. We also have reports that Edge will be returning to in ring action soon, more to come as we hear it.

Shocked I locked my phone and made my way to the toilet to throw up. I just made it before throwing up the contents of my stomach, I reached for tissue and wiped my mouth still bent over for fear of being sick again, the words from the article still whirring around my head.

"Jay" Adam spoke as he stumbled into the bathroom "Jay are you ok?" He asked kneeling down next to me resting his hand gently on my back even in his drunken state his main concern was me.

"Who spoke to them?" I asked retching into the toilet, he gently rubbed my back.

"What are you talking about?" He asked confused, his eyes were still bloodshot from the effects of the alcohol but the concern in them was still clear to see.

"The article" I gagged again wiping tears from my cheeks "I found it" I sobbed, he sighed finally understanding what I was asking. He sat back against the wall pulling me in to him, my legs across his and my head resting on his chest as his hand rested on my side and he gently rubbed my bare skin where my t-shirt had lifted slightly.

"I wish I knew Jay" He admitted "But you can't listen to it…it's just rumours" he told me reassuringly.

"You never told me about Lita" I said looking up at him he shut his eyes tight and rested his head on the wall.

"That was a long time ago" He told me "There's a lot people don't know about that situation" He explained opening his eyes to look at me "I made a mistake" he admitted.

"Everyone is going to think I'm awful Adam, they know who I am" I complained tears still running down my cheeks.

"I'll set the record straight before you debut, I promise" He assured me with his hand that wasn't resting on my side he gently wiped stray tears from my cheek with his thumb. I sniffed trying to calm myself down and stop the tears from coming.

"I just can't believe they're allowed to spread these lies" I told him "We never…" I began "It wasn't…" I sniffed "Do you think they know?" I asked.

"No" He shook his head "I've not told anyone" He told me "Have you?" He asked.

"Isabelle" I sniffed "But she wouldn't tell anyone" I guaranteed.

"I've read the article Jay I don't think it's anyone that knows about what happened" He reassured me "I think it's someone assuming they know something" he told me.

"Adam I'm going to go back to the house" I sighed "I don't want anyone to get the wrong impression" I told him standing up, I wobbled a little form the affects of the alcohol, steadying myself on the sink.

"Jay you can't leave now it's too late for you to be walking back on your own" He told me "If we start staying away from each other now people will think something is going on" he said holding my arm. I leant against the sink and looked up at Adam, eyes half closed I smiled slightly.

"Why does everything we do together now feel like a million people are watching?" I asked him.

"Because everyone has made up their minds on us and now, they're just waiting for us to slip up and confirm exactly what they're thinking" He stated completely horrifying me with his words.

"I can't imagine what people would be like if they knew we'd kissed" I thought out loud.

"They'd have a field day" He chuckled "Jay this is all my fault" He exhaled "If I hadn't kissed you I wouldn't have gone to Beth and proposed to prove I still loved her and I wouldn't have begun feeling the way I do and people wouldn't have become suspicious and Beth wouldn't have ended up hating you the way she does" He babbled rubbing his hand over his face and taking deep breaths trying not to be sick again.

"Christ" I rolled my eyes "It would have been easier for us to have just had a full-blown affair at this point" I said sarcastically.

"Yeah" He smirked knowingly, I rolled my eyes again and laughed loudly slapping his shoulder playfully "Look Jay we just need to keep acting the way we do and eventually people will come round to the idea that we're just friends, nothing more" he promised me, I let out a deep breath and nodded in agreement. I made my way back to the living room and got into the armchair, Adam got back on the sofa.

"Adam" I whispered into the dark room forcing my eyes to stay open as I spoke.

"Yeah Jay?" He responded half-asleep.

"What did you mean when you said you wouldn't have began feeling the way you do?" I said through a yawn, he mumbled in his sleep something completely inaudible that I couldn't quite make out. I yawned again and rolled on to my side beginning to drift off into a drunken sleep.

"We're going to regret this tomorrow" I heard him groan as I was still in the state between sleep and consciousness. I heard Adam sit up and steady himself on the coffee table as he tried to stand, a minute later I felt him climb on to the armchair behind me and wrap his arm around me, his hand resting on my stomach, his fingertips gently dancing between the waistband of my jeans and my stomach, he began planting gentle kisses on my neck and shoulder. "You deserve so much better than me" He whispered, "I'm not right for you" He slurred almost so quiet it was almost soundless. In my shocked state I lay still pretending to be asleep and a moment later I heard him begin to snore quietly, I drifted off shortly after.

I blinked as I returned to the world of consciousness, Adam's arm was still wrapped around me tightly my neck still tingled from the memory of him planting his gentle kisses on it. I sat up and made my way to the kitchen for a glass of water and checked my phone to find a text from Isabelle.

Is everything ok?

I copied the link for the article and sent that back as a reply with nothing else, I rubbed the sleep from my eyes and let out a big yawn.

"Morning" Adam grumbled pouring himself a coffee and sitting at the breakfast bar, I smiled over at him and waited for him to say something, anything about what he had done before falling asleep, but he just sat quietly sipping his coffee and scrolling his phone "I'm going to put out a statement today that sets the record straight about us" he said typing away.

"What do you remember from last night?" I pried raising an eyebrow.

"I was a mess I'm sorry" He admitted "Thanks for getting me home safe" He smiled, I smiled awkwardly in response.

Does he know?

I smiled at the text on my phone, Isabelle was one of my closest friends, but she really loved to be right about things. Adam stood up and washed his cup before leaning next to me on the counter scratching his beard as he thought.

"Sorry I can't spend the day with you today Jay I've got some things to do" he said finally breaking the silence between us.

"Yeah, I need to go hand my notice in at work" I pointed out as I finished my drink and slipped my shoes on.

"Where are you going?" He asked standing up confused "You don't have to leave right now" he said.

"I need to go home and shower" I told him wrapping one arm around his body and pulling him into a quick hug.

"Did I do something?" He questioned as he watched me walk towards the door "The last thing I remember is throwing up outside the taxi" He admitted "Jesus I'm sorry Jay I shouldn't have let that guy piss me off like I did" He rubbed his face in frustration.

"It's fine Adam" I reassured him "I just want to shower and change" without another word I left and began the walk home.
