One month later

I stood in the locker room stretching out, it was my first match tonight, I was entering the Royal Rumble at number 25 and was scheduled to win. Vince was determined to push this angle that I was fearless and unstoppable, me and Adam had put the work in during shows cutting promos almost every week, when we weren't doing that Edge was in a match and I was his loyal trainee by his side for every single one. Tonight, he was main eventing the Pay-per-view defending his title against Brock Lesnar, I was due to accompany him down to the ring after my win. Aside from this Adam and I had barely spoken, he had tried to spark conversation, make jokes and flirt his way round me like he had in the past, but I was done letting him play with my feelings the way he had. The first week had been the hardest. All I wanted to do was call him and beg him for a chance, plead with him to see reason, I had cried most days. A heavy weight sitting on my chest reminding me every second of the day of the emotional turmoil I was going through. Isabelle had stayed an extra couple of days to help and for that I was forever grateful, she had really been the best friend I could ask for reminding me of what I would be putting myself through if I were to call Adam. The hardest part of the whole thing was getting out of the habit of seeing him and speaking to him every chance I got. Every time something happened, I wanted to talk to him and tell him all about it, eventually it had become natural not to pick my phone up or go to his hotel room door. I had officially ended things with Stu not wanting to lead him on any more than I already had, he had taken it well and we were still on good terms, we had since spoken over the phone a few times as he was now at NXT full time. It was time to concentrate on me with no men in the picture.

"You're next" A producer popped his head in looking at me, I took a deep breath making my way to the curtain, ready to make my big debut. As I arrived, I found Adam standing waiting for me.

"Not now" I told him, shaking the nerves out.

"I've not come here to talk" he held his hands up in surrender. "I just came here to wish you luck" he told me "Whether you like it or not you're still one of my closest friends, not talking to me for a month isn't going to change that" he said.

"Thank you" I nodded hearing the countdown begin and the crowd begin counting along with it.

"You're going to be great" Adam told me with a small smile "You're amazing" I internally scolded myself as I felt my cheeks begin to redden, he definitely would have noticed but thankfully didn't mention it. Hero by Skillet hit on the speakers, and I walked out from behind the curtain to the crowd cheering for me it took every inch of me not to smile at the reception I was receiving, I hadn't been out here without Adam, so I had always assumed the cheers were for him and it was comforting to know that maybe just a small part of them were for me to. I stared down into the ladies all standing in the ring watching me, I took one deep breath and charged down the ramp climbing into the ring. I straight away began working on Nattie as we had agreed before the match, she stood up running to kick me in the face but I countered with a hard clothesline. A few minutes and three divas eliminated later, me and Paige were standing waiting for the final entrant as the clock ticked, we both stood staring up the ramp as we caught our breath, the crowd began counting from 10 and I took a breath to steady my nerves knowing full well who this would be. I hadn't been told but it was clear as there was only one person that hadn't come down the ramp and entered the match yet, the clock hit one and the music hit confirming my worst nightmare as Beth emerged.

"You're fine" Paige uttered to me before we both ran to her teaming up to get rid of her but we were no match for the Glamazon as she swiftly eliminated Paige, this isn't what was supposed to have happened. It had been agreed prior to the match that me and Paige would eliminate her together and then turn on each other but it appeared Beth had other ideas. I ducked as she ran at me rolling between her legs avoiding her clutches. She was a woman possessed. She'd waited over a month for this opportunity to have me in the ring and she wasn't about to let me get off lightly. She swiftly clotheslined me making full contact with my neck, I lay on the floor of the ring coughing, it had never felt like that before when I practised with the others in training, she was being rougher than necessary as she stamped on me. I lay dazed in the middle of the ring watching her climb on the top rope I quickly jumped up and pushed her to eliminate her, she anticipated what I was about to do as she stuck her foot out connecting with my nose hard and fast, I managed to give her a push before I fell back holding my face. Beth fell back and hit the floor outside the ring signalling the end of the match. I sat in the middle of the ring as the ref jumped in pulling my hands from my face, I looked down to see my hands covered in blood. A split-second later Adam was running down to the ring, I could see in his face he wasn't Edge in that moment he was a concerned friend wanting to make sure I was ok.

"Jay are you ok?" he asked, kneeling next to me, I wiped my bloodied nose on the back of my hand and stood up as my music began to play.

"Yeah" I nodded, still dazed from the impact but aware enough to celebrate in the ring for a few minutes.

"Come on let's get you seen by a doctor" Adam told me walking me to the back where two doctors were waiting, Beth stood just behind them with her arms folded across her chest.

"Oh no I haven't broken the pretty little girl's nose have I?" she asked feigning concern, I scowled at her from my position on a chair wincing at the pain in my nose immediately after.

"ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?" Adam shouted at her "YOU COULD HAVE SERIOUSLY INJURED HER!" He roared, his whole body was visibly shaking with anger as he shouted at her, his face was hardened and eyes menacing almost as if he was in the ring.

"It's not broken" the doctor confirmed, handing me some tissue to clean myself up "It'll just be sore for a few days" he announced "you're very lucky" he told me patting my shoulder.

"She ruined us Adam she deserves everything she has coming to her" Beth seethed

"Beth, don't put this on Jayme, I should have ended things way before they fell apart between us" he told her, it was clear to see the words hurt her.

"I hope she's worth it" she scoffed before walking off to get showered and changed.

"Ignore her," he told me, turning back to face me, bending down and placing his hands on either side of my face, tilting my head and checking my nose for himself.

"With a hit to the head like that I wouldn't want her to be alone for the night" The other doctor said to Adam, he took a step back satisfied that my nose was ok despite the blood still pouring out, I sighed in frustration.

"I'll see if I can stay with Paige" I told them causing Adam's face to drop slightly in disappointment "I'll go shower before I go out there with you Adam" I told him standing up to walk away still with a tissue pressed under my nostrils but before I could he grabbed my free hand spinning me round.

"Jay…" He began.

"No Adam," I warned, not allowing his sad look to allow me to falter. "I have nothing more to say to you" I pulled my hand out of his grip and walked off down the hallway to get ready. I waited in mine and Paige's locker room until the very last minute not wanting to bump into either Beth or Adam, I'd already nearly had my nose broken tonight and that was just about enough pain for me for one evening. I found Adam leaning against the wall waiting for me, I rolled my eyes as he smirked at me in my leather pants and matching crop top matched with a pair of boots "Stop it" I seethed getting into position.

"Sorry Jay but if you want me to come at me wearing all leather then we're bound to have a problem" he chuckled, it took everything I had not to giggle nervously or at least smile in response to his flirtatious remark.

"What is it with you?" I laughed in disbelief "Do you enjoy torturing me? Is that it? Is this fun to you to see me visibly upset over you" I snapped anger bubbling through my veins "I have asked you to back off now I suggest you do it before I speak to Vince about getting this whole damn storyline called off" I told him, he nodded visibly shocked at my sudden outburst.

"I'm sorry Jay" sincerity was clear in his voice "I guess I didn't realise how hard this has been for you" he admitted, I scoffed, shaking my head.

"Adam this has been possibly one of the hardest months of my life, aside from my parents passing away"

"What about leaving Gavin?"

"Surprisingly" I exhaled. "Leaving Gavin doesn't even come close" I admitted as his music hit and we both made our way out to the crowd. I walked around the outside of the ring watching Adam and Brock go at it, Brock was completely dominating him manhandling him all over the place, every time Adam slammed to the matt I winced worrying about his neck, he must have sensed it because every now and again he would look over and wink or flash a very quick smile to let me know he was ok. Brock picked him up power bombing him on to the matt, he hit the floor so hard that I was sure Adam was knocked unconscious for a split second. Brock suddenly turned his attention to me grabbing me by the scruff of the neck and pulling me into the ring, I struggled away from him cowering into the corner of the ring as Adam had told me to when we had gone over the match beforehand. He jumped up clotheslining Brock running to the corner I was currently sitting in.

"Remember what we said?" he smiled, helping me up. I responded with a nod, and we waited together for Brock to stand, as he turned around, we hit him with a double spear together, I rolled out the ring allowing Adam to make the pin taking the match. I crawled back into the ring and wrapped an arm around his waist, my skin burning with the touch wanting to run my hands all over his body, feel every inch of his skin under my hands. I felt my breathing pick up as I felt his abs move as he breathed. Adam must have noticed my natural reaction to his touch as he turned to hug me, so his lips were next to my ear.

"I feel it too" he uttered, pulling away and leading us up the ramp and back to the backstage area.

"I'm having a party tonight" Paige beamed as we walked through the curtain "Will you come?" she almost begged, I rolled my eyes reluctantly agreeing.

"After Beth's kick to my face I'm not supposed to be alone so I guess it wouldn't hurt" I shrugged hoping Adam would say no.

"What about you?" she smiled up at Adam, he looked at me with an eyebrow raised in question, he hadn't attended many social events with the others since our fall out allowing me time to make friends with the others without him around knowing I wouldn't go if he was there.

"Sure" he nodded, "I'll just shower and change," he announced, my stomach dropping in response, before I could protest he was gone down the hallway and out of sight. I crossed my arms across my chest and huffed annoyed that he was going to be there.

"Are you guys still not talking?" Paige asked as we made our way back to the locker room to grab our bags.

"No" I told her with a small shake of my head.

"Sucks, I liked seeing your guys friendship" she shrugged as we entered the room grabbing our bags.

"Yeah I hate it but it's for the best" I tell her.

"What even happened? One-minute you guys were best friends and you were close with Stu and the next you've ended things with Stu and cut Adam out" she paused "Did something happen between you and Adam?"

"No, I just had to take a step back," I told her, trying to be careful not to say too much. I had become good friends with Paige but I knew she was friends with the other divas who all hated me, I didn't know how much I could trust her.

"Whatever has happened I hope you guys figure it out because you're great together" she told me "whether that's as friends or more you guys clearly need each other in your lives because you've both been broken this past month" we started making our way back to our rental cars "despite what others think here I think you're better for him than Beth ever was, it didn't take a genius to figure out they weren't right for each other"

"Let's just go" I told her with a shake of my head, hearing what she had to say was only making this harder for me.
