" Matthew, where the hell are we?"John asks.
" you can see for yourself" Matthew responds. Looking around John could see an office with two doors on both sides. In front of him was a large desk with monitors and children's drawings as well as a poster.
" Are we really inside a game?" John asks.
" Are you asking that you walked through a fucking computer monitor" Matthew deadpans.
" It's just that how the hell does this happen?" John wonders.
" If you must know, I found a console in an abandoned mall. I plugged that in and played this game and here we are" Matthew explains.
" You expect me to believe that" John did not believe the explanation at all. Like how does a video game console lead to video game characters coming to life? Furthermore, why didn't these characters kill them? Like, should they not be dead right now?
" Why didn't they kill us then" John asks.
" Well for me at least the way they explain it is something like this. They view me as family, besides each other, I'm the only other person they have in their life. They also had to experience their murders every time I played their game. And of course, I didn't know this at all until the console was installed. I can only imagine what it's like to be murdered for someone else's entertainment" Matthew seems a bit forlorn.
" I don't know what to say" John was at Lost for words. Were they subjecting people to a life of misery just so others could be entertained? Now granted none of the other video game characters of games that he's played are alive. But if they had the chance what would happen?
" It's an interesting moral dilemma, to say the least," Matthew says.
"It makes me not want to play video games anymore" John mutters.
" So you're taking this better than I thought" Matthew smirks.
" I mean you did point out the fact that I had to walk through a computer screen to get here. Now that I'm sitting in Freddy Fazbear's Pizza I can't deny what I'm seeing" John says.
" So are you still going to be playing video games then?" Matthew asks.
" If other people have to die or be subjected to various types of pain just so I could be entertained. Then I'm not so sure I want to continue playing games" John explains. Matthew, then let John through the rest of the building. To be honest, it was quite interesting to see how it looked, especially in the kitchen where the camera was deactivated in the game. However, Matthew's words still rang in Jon's head. If some video game characters had to go through some sort of pain while playing the game, would that still be ethical?
Assuming that the characters in the video games that he owned came to life, would that not be a form of slavery? What were the ethical considerations for war games or first-person shooters? How could a game like Cod be considered ethical in any way? How would video game characters react to constantly being shot at while the person shooting at them was safely behind a TV screen?
" You all right" Matthew asks.
" Sorry it's just a lot to think about," John says.
" Whoa! Where am I" a voice out from behind. Turning around they both see Rosa standing there.
" Here inside a video game," Matthew explains.
" What do you mean inside a video game?" Rosa asks confused.
" Did you not notice the fact that you had to walk through a computer screen to get here?" Matthew asks.
" Well yes but" Rosa gets cut off.
" Well there, you have it," Matthew says.
" So out of curiosity, are there any other video games where characters have come to life" wonders.
" Possibly" Matthew answers.
" What do you mean possibly? It's a yes or no question" John replies.
" Possibly in the fact that I haven't met them in person, but they may or may not be out there. Take a look at this picture" Matthew takes his phone out and shows them a picture.
" Does that look like anyone you know?" Matthew asks.
" Does remind me of one video game character?" John says.
" Looks similar and there have been rumors about creatures wandering the virtual city outside of this pizzeria and the others" Matthew explains. This got John's attention as it could imply that other games were affected as well.
" Does that mean that you have characters from other video games wandering around as well?" John asked.
" Well I never met them in person so I honestly can't say" Matthew responded. That was a concern, if Freddy and Co could enter the real world then what's stopping something else like say the creatures from Alien? What was stopping one of them from waltzing on through the screen and into Matthew's house? If something like that did happen all John could do was hope and pray that he was insignificant enough to not be bothered or noticed.
" Wow, so those things in your house are from this game?" Rose asked.
"I'll have you know that those things are standing right here and can hear you," an annoyed voice said from behind them. Turning around all five animatronics were standing right there and seemed pretty miffed by what she just said.
" Don't pay those Chuck-E-Cheese rejects any mind. And yes they are from this game but want to get to know them. They can be pretty harmless" Matthew grinned.
" Harmless now! Listen here. You little shit, I'll have you know that we could have killed you anytime we wanted" Chica says a bit annoyed.
" Well then why didn't you?" Matthew asks.
" Calm down chica he's just messing with you," Freddy says.
" So they're not going to kill us?" John asked.
" If we wanted to kill you we would have done it already" Foxy mumbles from behind the group.
" Or the kids would have done it" Matthew offers his two cents.
" The kids?" Rosa seems a bit confused.
" Did you forget that those animatronics are possessed by the souls of dead kids per the lore of the game" Matthew explains.
" Wait so those kids are here too?" John asks
"Aye," Matthew nods in acknowledgment.
"Well this should be interesting" John mutters.
