Aife
The Succubus smiled as she walked up the stairs, followed by the ton of extra staff Bo had hired overnight. They rounded the corner and she gently tapped on Bo and Lauren's bedroom door. She rushed over to the bed when she saw Lauren trying to get out of bed. "Easy now Doctor. Unless you are going to relieve yourself, you are not to get out of this bed".
"What? Says who? Lauren flipped her hair over her shoulder, and out of her face.
"Says her. She was up all night making these adjustments to your bedroom. You have laptops, microscopes and everything your Doctor mind could want ready to be pushed over to the bed or dropped down automatically from the ceiling. I suggest having them pushed. All you have to do is alert someone on the staff or Bo, should she be in the bathroom at the time". Aife explained.
Lauren gently touched her stomach. She didn't feel anything wrong. "This is not necessary".
"You nearly lost the baby last night. I'd say it is". Bo mumbled as she turned over and gently sat up in the bed.
"Bo. Really this isn't necessary". Lauren shook her head gently.
"It looks like we have everything we'll need". Bo spoke when the maids walked in with their breakfast.
Aife nodded and left them to eat once the maids had left too.
"I spent most of the night reading up on this. By my calculations we are due next month if not sooner. We were just sitting around yesterday, and you almost gave birth to Kara last night. I want her to go the full term. So, my dear Doctor, we are on bed rest until then". Bo smiled gently.
"Are you sure I'm only carrying one baby? Lauren asked.
"What? Bo panicked.
"I'm joking Bo. But really being on bed rest is not necessary." Lauren repeated again.
"I'm not a Doctor like you but I am a mother to be. So, I say we are on bed rest. There is nowhere we need to be going. No patients needing to be treated by you. You are going to treat yourself to relaxing for once. Besides we can get up to walk to prevent bed sores, but other than that, we have TVS, laptops, iPads, cell phones and microscopes for you. If I left anything out, please tell me so I can make arrangements to get it here". Bo looked around the room. The staff had been brilliant and quiet setting all of this up without a hint of noise during the night.
Lauren popped her neck, nodded and pulled her food close to her. Bo followed her in relief that she is finally content with Bo's plan.
"Bo that is really sweet". Lauren smiled softly with a mouth full of food.
"I didn't know what to do last night Lauren. It scared the hell out of me. So, she took over and we saved the baby. Given we weren't doing anything exciting and you went into labor, I think it's time for us to rest. To really rest. Stay in bed. Read. Sleep. Watch TV. Whatever we need to do to keep them safe". Bo set her fork down to drink some milk.
"Bo I don't know what happened either. But I do know that I love you, and I trust you with our kids. But since we are due very soon, this is not a bad idea at all". Lauren squeezed Bo's free hand.
"I love you too Lauren. I told her that too. I also told her it is not time for her yet and to stop hurting herself and you". Bo wiped a tear away with a napkin.
"I am so sorry Bo. As a Doctor, I should have sensed the signs that something was wrong. But the truth is, I never felt anything until I was slammed with pain. I didn't mean to frighten or scare you over us". Lauren pulled Bo to her. The succubus rested her head on Lauren's shoulder.
"It's okay. I am not trying to point blame or guilt you Lauren. I was just explaining what happened last night. In case it happens again". Bo swallowed the lump in her throat.
"Well since we are staying in bed. Then if something does happen, I can address it immediately or we can get a Doctor in here to help me. Or you. But I am going to need you to tell me the minute you feel anything weird". Lauren rubbed Bo's back.
"I have that covered. I hired that Dr. Jackson from the hospital, and he's agreed to be on call in case we ever need him. I thought of having him move in here, but we still need our privacy". Bo gently rubbed Lauren's stomach.
"Come on. Let's eat and watch TV. I am sure there are lots of shows and movies we can find to watch". Lauren suggested as she pulled her food tray back to her.
Bo smiled and did the same. This is going to be great. She will have full access to Lauren and everything she is doing. She won't have to worry about her trying to overwork herself or be out there stuck in traffic. She already feels close to Kara but does not want that to come between Lauren and Kara. They should be close to all of their children and she is going to make sure of it. There is nothing that can come between all of them. There is enough love in their house and hearts that Bo never had growing up with the Dennis family. They were sweet people until they weren't anymore. A lot of times, she felt like a burden that they couldn't get rid of. Until her Succubus surfaced.
Their kids will never know that shame or that abandonment. Mary didn't give Bo more than an hour to explain what happened with Kyle before she was ready for Bo to move out. That was okay though. Aife has more than made up for her absence. She understood why she did it, but she will never understand why Mary did it. Bo needed her help. Her understanding and she offered neither.
Bo had called for the food trays to be removed. She and Lauren freshened up and climbed back into bed. They curled up while Lauren flipped through the TV channels looking for something to watch. Bo didn't care what they watched. She is content being in Lauren's arm. A fear she had the previous night that would never happen again. When she was talking to Kara, she felt a warmth. A power. A love that is going to make their lives so enjoyable. Perhaps this is what Stephen saw. That Lauren was going to lose the baby, but he didn't see Bo stepping in to save her. He probably doesn't know or will ever believe that Bo's Succubus is that powerful. Bo doesn't care what he knows or doesn't know. All she knows is her family is safe and accounted for.
Albert and Stephen
Albert had been looking for his grandson and was starting to worry he had skipped town.
"I'm over here grandpa! Stephen waved.
"This is supposed to be a surprise for your sister. What if she caught you out here? Albert asked.
"That's why I'm wearing taller boots and different clothes". Stephen replied.
"What are you doing? You are not slowing them down I hope". Albert looked behind him. It looked dark in Bo and Lauren's house, so nobody was peeking out the windows leading to the other lot.
"No sir. I'm actually helping them speed up. We should be done by the end of the day." Stephen bowed.
"Then the old man will get out of your way and go and find Aife. I am sure the kids are sleeping after last night and they deserve that rest. So, try and keep it down over here". Albert smiled. Stephen bowed again and watched his grandfather disappear from sight.
He thought it best for him to be busy with something productive and helpful to Bo, then to be in the house being a distraction. The greenhouse part is almost done, and the rest of the staff was done with the other side. Even if he had issues with Bo, he knows his sister will absolutely adore the thoughtful gesture of combining a greenhouse with an actual lab on the other side. Lauren will be able to do a lot out there and have a wonderful home life at the same time.
Inside
"How are they doing? Albert asked.
"They have been fed and are currently watching TV. Isabeau put them on bed rest late last night". Aife moved in her seat.
"It has almost been nine months, so they should be resting. I knew what she wanted the minute she called and had all of that equipment delivered." Albert took his seat.
"So, are you ready to be a grandfather again? Isabeau's was not a good man. Not all the time anyway". Aife looked at her old friend.
"I am. I am ready for all of it. I know they are going to be bigger handfuls, than Lauren and Stephen, but I can handle it. I am more than excited though. Lauren has always felt like more like a daughter than a granddaughter." Albert smiled fondly.
"You're a good man Albert. I had to give my baby up so she would be safe. You raised yours without having to fear for their safety". Aife wiped a tear away.
"I am sure she appreciates all of that Aife. Bo was never going to have a normal life. Not with her bloodline. People were always going to come for her. But there are plenty of us now, that we can protect their children, at all times. Then they will grow and learn how to protect themselves". Albert leaned forward and handed Aife a handkerchief.
"I will tell my grandchildren about this. So that they won't allow anyone, male or female to dictate what they do with their own kids. They have to be smart about who they mate with. For all I know Hades could have another bastard out there, just waiting to screw up their lives. They will be the true heirs and I will do everything to protect them from that shit". Aife snapped out of her tears and her face was nearly completely red.
"Aife". Albert said softly.
"Hades meant nothing but death and our worst fears imaginable. He would poison them too. He doesn't know love. He only knows pride when someone dies. That is inside of Isabeau. Deep down inside of her. I can't have that bastard ever coming back for them. He must stay where he is. Even if I have to burn everything down to the ground to protect them, I will." Aife seethed again.
"He won't come for them. I looked into this Hades when I came back. There's a reason Trick wanted me as a sacrifice for you. So, Trick would be the most powerful Fae. He never saw Bo coming. But I have known of Hades for years. Trust me old friend. He will never get our grandchildren". Albert spoke softly. Aife was always known as a wild Succubus. That is until it came to her daughter. Fae aren't supposed to love. But the old Succubus clearly loved her mother and loves her daughter enough to name her after her mother.
"I'm sorry. I forgot what you can do. I forgot they are yours too. Combine the Blood King's blood, Hades and yours and my future badasses are already scaring their grandmother". Aife smiled exposing all of her teeth.
"Hades wanted a Succubus baby so she would be powerful enough to drain the world. He never saw Lauren coming either. Ironic she's a Succubus too." Albert clinked his wine glass against Aife's.
"We made a powerful family. Even if it wasn't intentional". Aife smiled wickedly.
"We won't control them. We'll just jump in when needed." Albert smiled back.
"Oh of course. Bo and Lauren and their children are going to bring us years of fun and amusement. We'll just sit back and wait our turns". Aife laughed.
"We should rest too. There is nothing more time consuming than a Fae baby". Albert laughed.
"You'll be fine old man". Aife handed her empty glass to the staff. "Remember no liquor and weapons are to be stored within three feet of the floors".
The Succubus and Incubus watched them scurry around making the house childproof. They even had to move some of Bo's weapons and Lauren's equipment around to do so.
"How's Dr. Jackson? Albert asked.
"Got him on speed-dial. He's been kindly warned not to be blow us off". Aife winked at Albert.
"Don't kill him until the babies have been born Aife". Albert laughed.
"I won't make any promises". Aife laughed as they walked into the living room.
Kenzi.
Kenzi had been freaking all day. She finally managed to find a calendar and realized Bo and Lauren's due dates are approaching. She needs to be out of there and with them before that happens. Aife be damned. She'd do legit community service if it meant being there the second Bo becomes a mother.
"We'll let you know when they deliver". The Warden mocked Kenzi.
"Shut up". Kenzi snapped.
"Round up those mice that were found just now and release them into her cell". The Warden laughed again.
"Must you bet such a bitch, all the time? Kenzi threw her hands into the air.
"Why thank you for the compliment! Yes, I must. It's one of the perks of my job". The Warden laughed and walked away before the mice were let loose.
Bo and Lauren.
Bo sighed into Lauren's shoulder. They had watched game shows, crime shows, science shows, and even cartoons. The doctor had been insistent that it would help their babies in the long run.
"This has been nice". Bo whispered as she played with Lauren's fingers.
"Are you sure you can handle a half a month with this? Lauren asked.
"If it means keeping us and them healthy, why yes Doctor Lewis, I can". Bo smiled through tears. They are mere weeks away from being mothers. She had searched for hers for so long, she never imagined she would be one. She laughed again imagining Aife changing diapers.
"You did good Bo. Last night and today. With such a short time left, we do need to rest. Just stay in bed. We have family and a staff to get us whatever we want from the outside world. If I would have lost your baby, it would have killed me". Lauren rubbed the back of Bo's head.
"We will never let that happen Lauren. Our babies will never die. They will have Succubus powers to heal themselves too. To let them know when something hurts or needs to be fixed. But I can't imagine them hurting on any level. Except for emotional pain". Bo replied as she capped her head with Lauren's hand.
"We can't protect them from that. But at least our kids will know what emotions feel like. They will care. They will love. They will fight". Lauren flipped through the stations trying to find something else to watch.
"I don't want them to be bullies". Bo sat up.
"No. They won't be bullies. They'll stand up to bullies and protect the victims. You and I both know that there are bullies in the Fae world. There are bullies everywhere actually." Lauren cleared her throat at the last thought.
"No PIs or cops. Bullets hurt like….they hurt". Bo laughed.
"Doctors hurt too. It hurts to lose patients". Lauren pulled Bo back. She had missed the warmth already.
"Okay I jumped the gun. Let's have healthy babies first and then plan their lives". Bo played with her stomach.
"Bo? Lauren turned.
"I'm okay. It's just cool that I get to have your baby. How crazy is that huh? Bo smiled touching both stomachs.
"It's almost time to eat again". Lauren smiled as she sat up straight.
"Burgers, fries and milkshakes". Bo spouted off.
Lauren smiled as she picked up the phone and ordered their food. "Spinach on that burger".
"Uhh I wanted lettuce". Bo pouted.
"Fine. I will have lettuce, but your baby will have spinach". Lauren laughed.
Bo laughed and gently pinned Lauren to the bed. The women kissed and moaned until they heard a knock at the door half an hour later. Bo grabbed her phone when it beeped. She turned away from Lauren, read the message and deleted it. Lauren sat eating next to Bo and the brunette Succubus is hungry too. She's hungry for the smile that will be on Lauren's face when she reveals her surprise in the morning. Or hell she might show her tonight, but it would be better to see it just after sunrise.
"Have you thought of a baby name yet? Bo asked.
"I have but I won't tell you yet". Lauren smiled.
"Tease". Bo pouted.
"We don't know what you're having yet. But I promise it will be unique". Lauren took another bite of her food.
"Whatever rolls off of that beautiful brain of yours will be fine with me". Bo chuckled.
"I guess our new neighbors are done with their project, since it has quieted down". Lauren turned to look out the window, but Bo distracted her with a kiss.
"Bo! My mouth was full of food". Lauren laughed.
"At least I got my lettuce". Bo fell back laughing.
"I can't wait to have these babies. Because you my love will pay. You will pay dearly". Lauren threw a piece of lettuce at Bo and watched as she caught it with her mouth.
Lauren smiled at Bo's antics. She knew she was just trying to make sure Lauren was having fun for their first full day in bed. As a Doctor she probably would have recommended bed rest too. She pushed up and pulled Bo into her arms again. She closed her eyes and just absorbed their love. The struggles that it took for them to get here. She buried her head in Bo's hair and inhaled. It is the most beautiful smell in the world. The Succubus is warm and soft against Lauren's body. She owed this woman so much. Bo's Succubus has already been a parent to their unborn child and for that the Doctor in Lauren is in awe as is the woman herself.
