Lauren felt a warm arm wrapped around her and a gentle hand against her stomach. She knew the succubus behind her was still asleep because she could hear her gentle snores. She flinched just to feel Bo's hand settle on her stomach again. She gently tapped the Doctor's stomach.
Lauren smiled knowing it was Bo telling the baby to calm down. Even though Lauren wasn't currently under any distress. She had never felt more comfortable in her life. Things were quiet. Even her mind wasn't pondering about doing anything. She looked at the curtains and saw faint sunlight trying to peek inside.
"We can eat out on the patio, if you would like to do that". Bo whispered.
Lauren smiled. "Good morning Bo". She gently kissed Bo's hand.
"Good morning Dr. Are you ready to feed my baby? Bo asked softly.
"Yes, I am ready". Lauren smiled.
Bo gently pulled back and buzzed the staff that they were ready for breakfast. They cuddled a few more minutes before freshening up and prepared to go outside. Bo held the glass door for Lauren as she walked outside. She shielded her eyes from the sun as she looked around their patio deck. Bo pulled the tablecloth off and helped Lauren to her seat.
"This is going to be a beautiful day". Lauren smiled as they waited for their food. They didn't have to wait long before five people emerged with plates, cups and glasses. Bo stood up and helped them serve Lauren's food. She took her seat again after the Doctor waved off any additional food.
"More for me". Bo smiled as she placed a linen napkin on her lap.
After they finished eating, they settled on a lush chair as they took in nature, the sights, and sounds.
"This is really the life". Bo whispered as she squeezed Lauren in her arms.
"It is. With the exception of our families, this is probably one of the few remaining times, you and I will have without the babies. But I am not complaining". Lauren smiled gently as she looked to the trees around them.
Bo inhaled Lauren's scent and then focused on the outdoors. It is a good thing they are both due soon. They could get back out and do things. Except this time, they would do it as a complete family. Bo smiled at the thought of hearing the kids ramble off stuff she didn't understand yet. Point out things she never noticed. But until then she had Lauren for that. And the Doctor was already quite busy pointing out birds and sounds that she knew very well.
Bo cringed thinking of the surprise on the other side of the house. She turned her head and listened for construction sounds but didn't hear anything. It was still early, so maybe they were gathering more tools to finish the job. She snuggled up to Lauren and listened to her adorable rambling.
Aife, Albert and Stephen
"Well it is finished. Isabeau will be happy. I think today is a good day for her to reveal her surprise. Before they go into labor". Aife smiled at the half lab, half greenhouse. It really is going to blow the Doctor's mind. The gesture and the facility.
"Shall we go and get her? Albert suggested.
"Allow me". Stephen said softly. This is Bo's project and he was impressed by every detail that she had put into it. There are benches lined around the facility. He understood it is for when Lauren needs a breather or her silently suggesting the Doctor will need air, here and there.
The Incubus slowly walked around the house and looked upwards. They were sleeping. He paged the servants to walk out and to nudge Bo. Once she stood up and looked down at him, he nodded.
Bo smiled and turned back to the Doctor. "Lauren. Wake up sweetie".
"Bo? Are you in pain? What's wrong? Lauren asked worriedly.
"Relax babe, I'm fine. I just want you to see something. Need you to see something". Bo smiled as she held her hands out for Lauren to take them.
Once they walked inside and put on suitable clothes, they walked out of the room and down to Stephen.
"What's going on? Lauren asked.
"Follow me". Stephen said and slowly walked so that they wouldn't have to walk very fast.
Bo looked down and took Lauren's hand. Her heart was racing and hoped the Doctor was too curious to notice before they rounded the corner into the back of the house. She took one long breath and closed her eyes for a few seconds as they walked around.
"What the hell is that? Lauren pointed to the large structure covered with a massive tarp.
"Pull it off! Bo screamed and they both looked as a large crane pulled the tarp up and over the lab first and then the greenhouse.
"Bo? Lauren asked.
Bo smiled. "I had this built to give you something to do when you aren't actually at work. I thought a lab and a greenhouse attached to it would do".
"Bo! Lauren smiled as she pulled the Succubus to the building and they toured the place. Aife, Stephen and Albert followed them.
Bo was amazed at how her every detail was followed down to the letter. Lauren looked impressed too. She was pushing buttons and checking out the equipment. Once they entered the greenhouse, she truly looked at home.
"I have no idea about this stuff". Bo spoke softly. She put Aife in charge of finding out what goes in a greenhouse and what doesn't. The rest, Lauren can request, and it will be provided for her immediately.
"It's okay. I do". Lauren squeezed Bo's hand as they walked around the greenhouse and back out.
"Are you sure you are ready to leave? Bo asked.
"I'm sure. It's not good for me to be in there with all the chemicals. For the baby's sake". Lauren turned to Bo.
"Shit. I didn't think of that! Bo screamed.
"It is fine sweetie. But you best believe I am damned grateful and will put all of that to good use". Lauren smiled as she kissed Bo softly and pulled back.
"There are codes Lauren will have to punch in to get inside. Or Bo can. No child will have access to get in here". Aife spoke softly.
"Whew". Bo sighed.
"Take your time. It will still be here and waiting for you. In the meantime, the windows will be kept clean and the plants will be attended to as well". Aife stepped forward.
"I can't thank you all enough". Lauren smiled.
"It was all Bo's idea". Stephen pointed to the woman. Even if he added his own touches, Bo did deserve the credit for even thinking of it.
"There is no need for thanks. Especially for me". Bo smiled as she took Lauren's hand and waved bye to the group. They walked back into the house and set at the kitchen table and waited for lunch. It was still early but Bo wanted Lauren to eat a little more since she didn't match Bo's plates at breakfast.
They stared at each other as the spread was laid out before them. Lauren smiled at how hard Bo was trying not to blink.
The Doctor broke the stare first and stabbed her food. Bo smiled and watched her eat. Once she had finished one plate, Bo started on hers. They ate and talked as the servants kept coming with food, and dessert soon arrived. The women finished up. Bo walked behind Lauren. She wasn't taking any chances. Her eyes flashed blue thinking of anything happening to Lauren. Fae or not.
"Have you thought of the baby's name yet? Bo asked.
"I will reveal it after you give birth". Lauren smiled.
"That's not fair Lauren. I told you mine". Bo pouted.
"You didn't have to". Lauren held a smile in.
"Hey! Bo laughed.
"Are the nurseries and everything set up? Lauren asked one of the maids.
"Yes Dr. Lewis. Everything is in place for both you and Ms. Dennis". The maid bowed.
"Good. That's good". Bo smiled as she started to walk into the living room.
"Bo". Lauren reached out for her.
"It's fine Lauren. I was only joking about the name". Bo said over her shoulder.
"I think it's time Bo. Really time". Lauren said softly.
"What?! All because I….? Oh, geez Lauren I'm sorry". Bo nearly sprinted back to the Doctor. The butlers were summoned to help Lauren and Bo and her Doctor had been called.
Aife and Albert were already in the Succubus car by the time they got to their cars. Stephen started his truck and drove ahead of them. Albert used his eyes and gently moved the cars ahead of them out of the way. They could have called for an ambulance but didn't want to risk it in case Bo went into labor too. The old man thought it better for Lauren to be in labor first since she can help Bo with hers when the time comes. He just hoped her time was coming tomorrow.
They sped towards the hospital as Bo sat with Lauren. The Doctor squeezed her hand over and over, but it didn't hurt. It was kind of sweet watching her baby do this to the normally quiet pained Doctor. Bo had seen that for years in the blonde. When Bo'd hurt her, you could see it, but Lauren never called her on it. Never called her names. Never threw Bo's shortcomings in her face. Lauren squeezed a little harder and it made her eyes turn blue.
"Hey!? Hey Lauren? Are you okay?! Bo finally started to panic.
Lauren's eyes were both blue and almost green. Whatever the hell was happening to the Doctor worried the fuck out of Bo.
"We're here! Aife screamed as she opened their doors.
"Get her out of there! Albert screamed as ten men carried the Doctor to a gurney and into the hospital.
"Isabeau? Isabeau look at me! Aife screamed. The Succubus looked like she was drunk walking. That's impossible, Fae don't get drunk. Especially one as powerful as her daughter.
"Yeah. Yeah. She…they….we will be fine". Bo panted.
Aife grabbed Bo and pulled her behind Lauren. They were in the OR before they knew it. The older Succubus helped Bo change into scrubs. The young Succubus never took her eyes off of Lauren. Her hair was soaked, and she was staring back at Bo too.
"I'll be right there". Bo put her arm though the sleeve and rushed to the bed.
"Come on babe. Push really hard". Bo grabbed Lauren's hand and pulled her up. Lauren stared at Bo once more before screaming and pushing as hard as she could. The Doctor looked at them as the baby came out.
"What? What is it? Bo leaned over. "She's beautiful! She screamed.
"A…a girl…? Lauren panted as she fell backwards. Bo nodded and watched them clean the baby up. She couldn't wait to hold her daughter. Her daughter with Lauren. She stood close to Lauren without touching anything but her hand. She wiped her brow with a clean cloth and took some deep breaths.
The nurse walked back over to them and asked who wanted to hold her first. "Let Lauren hold her first". Bo gestured.
"No, you can hold her first Bo". Lauren smiled.
"We'll be at this all evening. So, I will hold her". Bo laughed as the nurse handed her over. Lauren heard Bo sigh deeply as the baby touched her arms. The Succubus gently pulled the blanket back so Lauren could see her better.
"Bo! Lauren smiled.
"I told you she's beautiful! Bo smiled wide. The women cooed over the dark-haired baby. Her hair curled a little, but it is definitely dark like Bo's.
"When you're ready we will need a name for her birth records. The nurse said as she left them alone. She showed Aife and the men in. Bo moved out of the way to give Albert and Stephen a chance to hold her and be near Lauren.
Lauren reached an arm out calling Bo back to her. The Succubus nodded and took her hand.
"Come on. Sit here". Lauren moved over giving the brunette room to sit.
"Are you sure Lauren? Don't you need to heal first? Bo asked worriedly.
"I will shortly". Lauren smiled.
"No, she will heal now". Aife said as she set the baby in the bassinet and left the women to it.
"Lauren I can't do this with her here". Bo cried.
"It's okay Bo. I will feed without sex". Lauren pulled Bo to her and kissed her hard. She pulled back and the chi flowed into her mouth. She felt everything she knew to be sore and bloody on her heal.
"Do you feel okay now? Bo asked.
"Yes. Now bring me our baby". Lauren smiled as Bo smiled and scooped the baby Succubus into her arms and handed her to Lauren.
"Kara". Lauren smiled.
"Why didn't you tell the nurse that? Bo asked curiously.
"Because this is our time to be a family. We're the only ones that know each other's names right now and that's a special moment".
"Ahh I see". Bo smiled as she made faces at Kara.
"She really is beautiful Bo". Lauren looked the baby over.
"She's healthy Doctor. They would have told us otherwise". Bo smiled noticing that it didn't take long for the Doctor mother to kick in, in Lauren.
"Can I know my baby's name now? Bo asked.
"Patience Bo. Your turn will come. Besides we still don't know the sex of yours for sure yet. I do have a few names in mind, if that eases your mind". Lauren smiled and looked back at Kara.
Bo smiled at the baby noises. Her eyes are dark like Bo's. They were curious like Lauren's always were. Yep. There is no doubt about it. This one is going to run Bo absolutely bonkers. She laughed thinking of Aife having her hands full with Bo when she was a baby, even if it was for only a little while.
Bo gently took a seat on the bed and pulled Lauren in her arms. They both stared down at their daughter and watched her try and navigate her little fingers. She had a baby smell and it was the most beautiful thing Bo had ever inhaled besides Lauren's scent.
"This is really nice, and quiet". Lauren cooed.
"Yes it is. She doesn't seem like a crier. I heard most newborns cry as soon as they are born". Bo spoke softly.
"Well she's our baby. She probably doesn't know fear at all". Lauren replied.
"I don't know. I've feared a few things". Bo said honestly.
"Bo I'm okay and, she's okay. Really". Lauren said softly.
"I meant losing you before all of this too". Bo said softly.
"The Dawning? Lauren asked.
"The Dawning". Bo nodded behind her and Lauren felt the movement.
"Well when you really look at it. Trick set it all up way back when. When he sent Grandfather in to send Aife out. Had she not come out, she wouldn't have known about her mother, and I wouldn't have met my grandfather, unknowingly in there". Lauren changed arms so Bo could see Kara better.
"I didn't think of you Lauren. I didn't think of the Fae consequences. You could've died and I wouldn't have been able to do anything about it. Especially if I never found mom in time". Bo said softly.
"Bo we are both here now with a daughter of our own. Ours. Yours and mine. There is nothing to fear anymore. Except those 2 am feedings". Lauren laughed.
"2 am?! Bo scoffed. She laughed when Kara looked at her.
"Easy Bo". Lauren spoke softly.
"Yeah but that's normally when we're. Oh, forget it". Bo laughed.
"You want to hold her for a bit before we bring Aife and the men back in? Lauren asked.
"You bet I do! Bo smiled.
Lauren rubbed Bo's back as she played with the baby. She had never seen Bo glow as much as she was right now. She suspected that would change even more when she goes into labor and delivers her baby.
"You know Lauren once this baby or babies is born. I will have everything that I have always wanted, a partner and family". Bo smiled wide.
"I know. I will too". Lauren kissed the top of Kara's head and Bo leaned back in her arms. After another hour had passed they called for the others. Aife walked in flashing her phone taking pictures.
"Mom? Slow down on that please? Lauren might want to look a little better and I'm a mess because of the tears". Bo handed Kara to Albert and the mothers watched as everyone played with her, and took turns introducing themselves.
Bo squeezed Lauren and she squeezed her back. They were bonding with someone they created. No Fae had ever thought Lauren was worth anything. But Bo always knew. She knew the minute she took her into her lab for the first time. She damn sure knew when she kissed her the first time.
Lauren squeezed Bo again as they watched the gang with Kara. They all looked so proud and anxious to spoil her. For Lauren it looked like baby Bo. Even though she'd never seen pictures of the Succubus as a baby. But her dark hair and eyes were an exact duplicate of Bo's features.
"Are you ready to go home? Bo asked softly.
"You are not going home Isabeau. We barely made it in time for Lauren and you look like you're about to pop at any minute". Aife stepped forward.
"I hate sleeping in hospitals because I don't get any sleep". Bo said.
"Well I'm sure Lauren can put you to sleep". Aife laughed.
"Mom! Bo blushed.
"She's right Bo we need to stay here or close by". Lauren said.
"Then we get a bunch of blankets in here and a better bassinet. My granddaughter won't be sleeping all night in this". Aife said.
"We can go and find a new one". Stephen smiled as he handed the baby to Bo.
"We can all stay here. I'll pulse someone for extra rooms. Our bags are in the car". Aife said as the men walked out. Albert nodded and closed the door behind him.
"Dinner will arrive shortly." Aife sank into a plush chair after watching Bo and Lauren hand the baby off back and forth between them. The old Succubus tried not to smile, but she couldn't help it. Her daughter has a family. And by the end of the week, it will be a little bigger.
