The brunette smiled softly as she gently bounced Kara and Isadora in her arms. They were not restless. She just wanted to spend time with her daughters before she left to see Kenzi.
They are warm like their blonde mother and smell like her too. They had grown overnight it seemed. Little fingers pulled on dark locks as Bo cooed as she looked down at them. She smiled again thinking of her family now. Not just Aife. But Lauren and their daughters. She loves her life so much that it scares her a bit. Only a bit because any threat to them would mean immediate death to said threat. But who would want to threaten them? They really do not have any enemies besides the daily freak that stalks them like celebrities. Bo had grown used to those nut jobs. She is not naïve. Their lives will never be easy peasy. But they will certainly be interesting. Bo is practically mated to a succubus witch Doctor. The blonde still mumbles Scientific words in her sleep. It wakes Bo up, but she always falls happily back to sleep.
Then there are their girls, Kara and Dora. Dora fits their youngest since Bo does not use her full name on a regular basis. She kissed them on their little cheeks once more before she stood up to put them back in their cribs. Kissing them once more, she gently played with their fingers and let go. She turned and walked out of the nursery and back to their bedroom. Lauren was still asleep and had kicked the sheets off of her. Bo gently bent over and pulled the sheets back on the bed and her doctor before bending down to kiss her goodbye.
Lauren was right. Bo needs to deal with Kenzi. One kind way or another. Kenzi is not their enemy. But time in the clink might have changed her attitude completely. Bo was not the reason she stole from them. Lauren was not the reason Kenzi is in there either. This has always been a problem among the three of them. Kenzi verbally preferred Dyson for Bo. But once Bo kissed Lauren, she knew she wanted the Doctor. Not just for one nighters either. Sure, Dyson was Fae and could help her heal. But Lauren healed scars nobody else could see. She heals Bo mentally too. All those years thinking she was a walking or sleeping while feeding monster. Bo never once wanted to leave Lauren's side. She would miss her. Miss something brilliant she would say or do.
But Kenzi is something Bo must go off and handle alone. She kissed the Doctor on her forehead a few times and tucked her in bed again.
Lauren rolled over and watched Bo leave. The Succubus looked so bogged down. She did not want to push her to do this. But she is a mother now. Gambling with what Kenzi would do or will not do is no longer an option. She is also the mate of an immensely powerful Succubus. Bo is a mother like nobody in the Fae world has ever seen before. Which makes her Succubus a mother too. The Doctor is not sure what she thinks of Kenzi, but having kids raises the stakes a lot higher. Lauren smiled thinking of the kids and got dressed to go see them.
Aife and Bo
"Isabeau, good morning". Aife smiled as Bo climbed into her car.
"Where are Albert and Stephen? Bo asked.
"There". Aife pointed.
"Good". Bo settled into her seat and nodded for Aife to start off. If she was going to leave Lauren and the kids for a few hours, Bo wanted to make sure they had protection. Cannot be bought or distracted away from the house, protection.
"Bo you know they won't let anything happen to them." Aife changed lanes as she spoke to her daughter.
"I know. I just do not know how long this will take. Lauren can take care of herself, but our girls deserve a peaceful life". Bo replied.
"They are yours and Lauren's. I doubt peace is in their DNA. But as far as the other definition of peace, they shall have it. They are ours too". Aife smiled.
Bo nodded and the rest of the trip was filled with small talk. Aife did manage to pull some strings to get Bo past the check in, show ID bs part of visiting someone locked up.
Just as Aife had arranged, doors were opened for Bo, and she was lead down a long hall. She laughed when she realized it was the same people that escorted her to Lou Ann. Aife's doing then too probably. Bo wondered if Lou Ann was ever executed. She could ask Trick, but he is dead. She could ask Aife, but that is poking a big bear. But either way she was taken directly to a room with two chairs. One chair was plush, and the other was the standard hell jail chairs.
She walked around and dropped into the plush chair. She took a deep breath and waited for Kenzi to be brought to her. Her wait was not long before the young woman rounded the corner and stepped across the threshold. She did not look at Bo yet. She allowed herself to be led to her chair and took her seat. She finally raised her head and looked at Bo.
They sat in silence for the longest time. Bo took Kenzi in and spoke first. "How are you doing?
"That is it, Bo? That is all you got? Kenzi gritted her teeth.
"I didn't have to come here, but I did to see how you are doing. If you are ready to get out of here. But given the tone in your voice, you are not." Bo replied.
"You could have gotten me out of here, Bo. A long time ago. You show up now like old friends that have not seen each other in a long time. You left me, here. To be mocked and picked on". Kenzi snapped.
"You put yourself here Kenzi. Being my human did not keep you from being arrested for actual crimes. I will not roll over humans for you. Especially since we were the people you stole from". Bo kept her voice low.
"I needed the money. You left me broke and homeless". Kenzi slapped the table.
"You could have lived anywhere. You did not need to steal from us. Especially something that belonged to grandmother. Mom took that personally. She always will, and so will I. This was a waste of time". Bo sat back.
"Why did you come then? Kenzi asked.
"Lauren thought it was a good idea and I thought it would help". Bo replied.
"You're here out of pity? Well screw the both of you. I don't need your pity Bo". Kenzi sat back in her chair.
"Watch how you talk about Lauren because I don't give a damn what you think about me. Not after this little tantrum. You are the one that stole. You got arrested by human police officers. There was no wolf to get you out of this. But I will arrange for your release. But know this, if you come near my family, you will find yourself in a worse prison than this stink hole". Bo warned as she stood up. Kenzi froze in her seat. When Bo spoke, it was her Succubus in control.
Kenzi did not move an inch until she was sure Bo was out of the building. She shook her head. She did not want to go out into the yard to be mocked or ridiculed by the other inmates. So, she went back to her cell. She sat on her bed. Alone in her cell.
Bo climbed into Aife's car, and the old Succubus sped away. The two got about a mile down the road before Aife spoke. "How did it go?
"It didn't." Bo replied.
"Isabeau". Aife sighed.
"Arrange for her release and then drop it". Bo replied.
Aife nodded but she would not do that without having a little fun with Kenzi first. Taking something of her Queen Mother was not something Aife was willing to let go of yet.
"I didn't say I was letting go of it, I just don't want that shit hanging over my family". Bo responded.
"Okay. I'll drop it and take care of the rest". Aife said as she made her final turn.
Bo jumped out of the car and sprinted up the stairs to the front door. She opened it and gasped. "What happened?
"We gave them their wands and they started a few small fires". Lauren laughed as she opened window after window. Stephen and Albert put out the rest of the fires while Lauren spoke to Bo and Aife.
"Are you sure they're okay? Bo asked.
"They're fine. Nobody was hurt. Nothing was burned that can't be replaced." Lauren rubbed Bo's back.
Bo stepped away from her and headed to the nursery. She found two happy babies smiling up at her. "I thought I said to behave yourselves".
"Bo! Lauren laughed.
"Mama was only kidding. You just be you and we'll handle the rest". Bo smiled as she rubbed their stomachs. "Let's get them some air".
Lauren grabbed two blankets and they each grabbed a baby. Bo reached for Lauren's free hand as they walked downstairs and out to the backyard patio deck. Bo stood until Lauren was comfortable in her seat and gently took her own seat.
"This is better right Dora? Bo cooed as they looked out over the massive yard.
They all sat in silence.
"How did it go? Lauren asked.
Bo sighed and shook he head. The Doctor knew from that reaction that it was not a good visit.
"Do you want to talk about it? Lauren asked.
"Not around them, okay? Bo spoke.
"Okay. But I have a theory I'd like to share with you later". Lauren smiled as she squeezed Kara.
Bo stood Dora up on her feet and twirled her around.
"She's going to be sick on you again, Bo". Lauren laughed.
"You wouldn't do that to me again would you baby? Bo laughed. Dora smiled at Bo and after a few minutes squeezed the woman's fingers indicating that she was close to hurling.
"You know I feel sorry about the fires. I'm partly to blame". Lauren sighed.
"No Lauren. Do not do that. You are not to blame for this. You cannot help who you are. No more than they can. No more than I can". Bo gently tapped Lauren's leg.
"Bo you are mate to a Succubus-witch. Some would call me a Succubus witch doctor. All are true but I still feel partly to blame. Nothing we cannot buy again was damaged. But our kids are innocent and didn't know what they were doing". Lauren squeezed Kara. The baby succubus laughed.
"I love you Lauren and I love them. But loving you will not allow you to blame yourself or them for being who you are. I am a Succubus. I never knew how to control her until I met you. If you can teach me, we both can teach them". Bo smiled warmly.
"I love you and them too". Lauren nodded and made faces at both babies.
"Have they been fed? Bo asked.
"Yes. Just before you came home". Lauren answered.
"Have you eaten anything? Bo asked.
"No. I was busy with them". Lauren drank some water.
"Five more minutes out here, and we go inside to have lunch, together". Bo said seriously. Lauren could get distracted by anything and never stop to eat or feed. Bo was home now, and she was going to make sure the blonde takes care of both needs. True to her word, they were back in the house in five minutes and the kids were put down for a nap.
The five adults went into the kitchen, and all pitched in to make lunch. They sat down as a family and started eating.
"Lauren had something she wants to share with me. Since I feel it has to do with all of us, I thought she could share it with all of us". Bo spoke up.
"Go ahead Lauren. We're all listening". Albert sat back in his seat.
"From what I got from Bo, her visit with Kenzi didn't go well. Which coincides with the babies starting the fires. I think on some intuitive level they picked up on her distress and attacked as only they can. Through those small fires". Lauren explained.
"Hot damn, I do have badass granddaughters". Aife laughed.
"Mom? Stay calm please". Bo whispered.
"That is a very good theory, Lauren". Albert smiled.
"So, we have to keep calm until they are old enough to know we can take care of ourselves". Bo bit into her salad.
"I can look". Stephen offered.
"No. I don't want my daughter's lives interfered with. We will learn about them as they learn about us, but not ahead of time". Bo waved Stephen's gift off.
"Let me know if you change your mind Bo, they are my nieces and family too". Stephen spoke as softly as he could.
"Isabeau's Succubus is a mother now too. It was probably her that was instantly pissed off and annoyed with Kenzi." Aife noted.
"That's true but the kids don't know that. So, we try our best to keep bullshit away from us and them". Bo sat back and drank some wine.
"They could have powers like their uncle Stephen too. We won't know for sure, until they are older." Albert chimed in.
"We all love them. We will all protect them and each other. This might not be as exclusive to me as we are all suspecting it to be". Bo set her drink down and squeezed Lauren's hand.
Lauren squeezed back and finished her food. They all sat talking and planning everything. If the kids can remotely sense threats or angry elders, this was going to be bigger than anything Bo and Lauren, alone, can protect them and innocents against.
"This is wild. Our daughters are already in protective mode, and they haven't even met anyone". Bo shook her head.
"I want to spend a little time with Bo". Lauren stood and pulled at the brunette. Bo looked at her and followed.
They walked outside again and Lauren lead Bo out of eyesight of the others. She turned to Bo and pulled her into her arms.
"This day was not what I wanted for you. I am glad we know a little more about Kenzi and the girls. But you seem agitated. I need to know now what is wrong. Before the others see it and freak out". Lauren explained.
"I think Kenzi was about to blame you for all of this. Her being in there. The distance between us. That is what set me off." Bo spoke as softly as she could. She did not want to rile their daughters up again. She trusted every word Lauren said about it to be true.
"I don't know what we are going to do about Kenzi. But I know what we are going to do about us. We are going to take this one step and one day at a time. We are a family. A much stronger one than we were before. Let us just try to relax and enjoy the rest of the day." Lauren squeezed Bo's hand.
Their eyes turned blue, respectively, and they went back into the house.
"What now? Bo asked.
"Bo, listen". Lauren said. They heard growls coming from the baby monitors and ran upstairs.
"Shake your head a few times. That will take the blue out of your eyes". Bo stopped Lauren just before they entered the room.
Their eyes went wide again when they looked into the cribs. Kara and Dora's skin was flashing red and their eyes were navy blue.
"What the hell? Bo whispered.
"Their Succubus have surfaced. Help me calm them down". Lauren reached into a crib.
"It will take you the rest of the day and night to help me calm down". Bo reached into the other crib.
The room shook. Hell, the whole house shook as Aife, Albert and Stephen ran upstairs and into the nursery. What they found looked like something fresh out of a movie. Blonde and dark locks were flying around Lauren and Bo.
"What's this? Albert whispered.
"Four Succubus have surfaced". Aife replied.
The three stood back and watched. Bo and Lauren passed the kids back and forth between them. No words were spoken. But the scene was touching. The Succubus in the women were getting to know their daughters. The mothers were smiling, and their eyes were still blue after passing the babies back and forth once more before returning them to their cribs. They walked past the trio, hand in hand, and left them stunned in their tracks. Kara and Isadora were making baby noises again as they three tiptoed to the cribs to peek inside. Their eyes were still blue, and they looked happy.
"I don't understand". Albert sighed gently.
"The Succubus in Bo and Lauren are mothers now too. They bonded with them and set them down to rest. Leaving out of here like they did, means they are going to bed too. I do not want to be here for that. Let's get out of here. They will be fine. Not even a mouse would bring his little ass up in here tonight". Aife smiled proudly. Her own Succubus rarely surfaced in happy times. But this is Bo and Lauren's family. Nothing is going to dampen the mood in the house.
Stephen stood shocked. When he could not stand the suspense anymore, he reached down for Kara. He jumped when she grabbed his arm and sent a pulse inside. He turned and walked out of the house.
"Now what was that? Albert scratched his head.
"She wants to be left alone". Aife laughed. "It will wear off once he's out of the house. Come on great-grandpa Albert. Let's go". She pulled on the old Fae. They walked downstairs, secured the house and walked out of the doors.
They climbed into Albert's truck and turned to look at the house. In two rooms all they saw was specks of blue flickering.
"They'll be fine". Aife tapped Albert's shoulder and Stephen started the truck and drove the short distance home. His sister is also a witch. But her Succubus has other plans for the evening.
