Notes: Another big one here. Hope you enjoy the chapter and an update at the end!
A week had gone by.
A week since he was confronted by everyone about what was revealed and what needed to be done. A week since he was told why everything he knew was wrong… but also a week since he was pulled from the darkness.
Splashing water on his face, Enji washed away the excess shaving cream from his face, looking up to his freshly shaven face. After finally dropping the alcohol that night, he chose to sit alone in his thoughts, contemplating everything he had done in his life to end up here now. His children… his wife. Everything he thought about himself was now completely turned upside down, and all of this was because of himself.
And yet… there were those who simply didn't give up on him.
As he finished dressing himself up, the flame hero couldn't believe even after everything he had done, his daughter was still willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and was hoping to somehow bring this broken family together. Her kindness only made the hero sick to his stomach, unable to believe someone so kind had actually been there this whole time despite the horrors he created. But even she needed to leave the house for sometime after the horrible truth that had been revealed.
As he got into his car and began driving, he thought about his two sons that came to him that day. It was no wonder his two sons also wanted to keep the distance they already had with him, the new development just nailing down the distaste they had for him. However, Shoto had shown he was ready to stand up and face the demons of his family… something he needed to do himself now. Even his own sidekick was someone who refused to walk away, although it was obvious her blind loyalty view certainly had been lifted now.
Driving down the road, he hazily took in the sights around as he saw now he was nothing of what he thought he was, one who was supposed to be the next big hero after All Might disappeared. And now, he realized what he had to do, something he never dreamed of doing until now. When he reached the destination, he felt his heart begin beating faster, but he powered through the fear that began growing inside of himself. He had to do this no matter what, not just for what he was told, but for himself. Even as he walked through the doors and by the shocked look of some of the people inside, he still kept forward, needing to prove he was not what that girl thought he was before.
'How everything changed because of her…' Enji said to himself as he thought back to the first night he encountered Katara, where that one meeting would've led him to today he couldn't ever have imagined. The girl he had so much disdain for originally ended up being far more involved in everything about his life than he could ever have predicted. It only opened up his eyes to what he was, and the many things he damaged in his lifetime chasing a stupid goal. And now, he had to somehow prove he was not the monster she thought he was… or, what he used to be.
And it all had to be proven by the door in front of himself now.
Taking a breath, he opened the door, revealing the light coming from the window… and causing his heart to skip when he saw the white hair of the woman he had practically abandoned so many years ago, feeling his body heat up as her head turned to the noise behind her, her eyes widening when she saw the figure standing there, both Todoroki's locking gaze in a mix of surprise and fear of what was going to come next.
"Enji…" Rei Todoroki quietly said to her husband, taking in the sight of a man she'd only seen on tv a few times in the last eight years.
Enji had trouble swallowing the lump in his throat as he suddenly felt like running away, his hands shaking at his sides as he saw the face of the woman he put in this place, unsure if he was right doing this… but he had to face the past he created, taking another deep breath and stepping inside. Shutting the door behind himself he slowly walked inside and sat on the bed facing her, clasping his hands in front of himself.
"Hello Rei…"
Enji stared in silence at Rei, taking in the view of the woman he had not seen in so long. He noticed the look on her face was confused and shocked he was here, it no longer held the terrified look he had tried burying in his mind. He rubbed his hands together nervously, flinching as she locked eyes with him once more.
Rei was also silent, breathing slowly as she looked over the man she used to live with. She studied the large scar that covered his face, the injury ironically reminding her of their son Shoto's burn on his left side. She gave a small nod at him. "Has it fully recovered now?" She asked.
Enji swallowed and gave a small nod. "Yes…"
"I see…" Rei looked outside once more, taking in the falling leaves across the street below. "It has been sometime since we've spoken…"
Enji winced slightly at her statement, looking away in shame. "I… should've come years ago… to talk."
"To talk?" Rei asked, watching the wind blow the loose leaves. "I've talked plenty recently. Natsuo and Fuyumi stop by whenever they can to say hello, and Shoto has continued his letters since he can't leave school." She smiled to herself as she remembered his last letter he sent. "He says his girlfriend won a beauty pageant at their school. Even in the writing I could tell how excited he was about it. I was hoping to meet her sometime actually, and then everything happened…"
Even with her words being calm, every word felt like a hit to the gut for Enji. He felt sweat fall down his face as she turned back toward him. When she shifted, his eyes widened when he saw the blue flower in the vase on the window seal behind her, the one he had ordered delivered here for her. She caught sight of what he was looking at, sighing and rubbing her hand.
"I must admit… I never expected you would've remembered my favorite flower after I told you once so many years ago. I have actually enjoyed those sent to me over the months… and yet none came with a letter. So there mustn't be many important things to discuss."
"I… It shouldn't have ended this way. If I had just tried to… to…" Enji stumbled for every word he tried to get out, feeling his body tremble as the pain grew.
"Perhaps I could've just left the country entirely, then there wouldn't have been a distraction at all for you…" She said, her tone still calm as she took a breath. "But I couldn't even if given the opportunity… because I won't leave those children of ours no matter what has happened."
"I'm sorry…"
Those words were something Rei had never expected to hear from her husband, not recalling the last time he had said it to her. She didn't even know what to say to him, watching as he seemed to shake in his spot, his eyes growing moist.
"I was the biggest fool in the world. I did everything wrong that a man should've done with his family. I caused so much pain and suffering to everyone. I… did all of this for a god damn dream just to be the highest ranked hero… and yet I did all this shit to you and the kids for myself!" He cried out, gripping his face as a few tears fell down his cheeks. "I… was so focused on gaining power, I blocked out anything that would've got in the way of training and progress, and I abandoned the feelings I never should've given up on."
He gasped in air between his rant, guilt of twenty years of mistreatment beginning to boil over the top.
"I see now… A father is something I never was. I wasn't there as a parent should be for their kids. And… I failed as a husband should be…" He pulled his trembling hands away from his face, staring at them before suddenly imagining years ago… when they were used against Rei when she stood in the way of training. The thought made Enji wince in frustration, clenching them and pressing them against his forehead. "I… I did things…. Things I put villains away for… and I did them to my own family. To people I was supposed to protect and I didn't. And now look where we are now…"
Enji wailed in pain as he looked up to the woman he had tried pushing aside these years for his own selfish desires, her staring at him crying only making him feel more guilty for what happened.
"I abandoned you… I abandoned all those kids simply for my selfish dream. I caused nothing but suffering all those years… and our four children suffer for what I did…" He swallowed the new lump that formed in his throat as he prepared to tell her the news… the news that would change everything forever.
Several days later
The end of November was approaching fast, and the entire country was buzzing with the event about to start in the city of Kamino. The large sports stadium was bustling with thousands of fans and supporters clamoring to get a spot inside. Cameras flashed and reporters were fighting for whatever space was left, not wanting to miss the big event about to start. Once filled, the doors were swiftly shut, leaving the outside observers frustrated and annoyed they couldn't watch the event live.
Inside, the loud crowd was already getting to their seats, the audience a mix of civilians and heroes who were excited to see the top faces in one place at the same time.
"This is such a big event happening today!" A female announcer yelled into her mic as she faced the camera behind her, turning her back to the stage momentarily. "For the first time ever, we are announcing live the billboard chart rankings for the top ten heroes! The heroes are never traditionally all present during the announcement, but it seems today is a big change! Here we are!"
The camera shifted and zoomed in onto the many heroes standing up on stage, everyone cheering for their idols.
"She dropped one spot, but still remains in the top ten. The dragon hero, Ryukyu!"
Ryukyu gave a wave to the crowd, sighing as she smiled to herself. "Honestly not sure I even deserve this after what happened…"
"His determination and aid in battling the mysterious creature alongside Endeavor helped him make a splash! Moving up to number nine, Gang Orca!"
The whale hero frowned at the water pun they made for him. "I'm not Shamu…" he grunted to himself, before his eyes noticed the lion hero sitting in the crowd staring at him. Unable to hold back a chuckle, he popped his knuckles and straightened his stance. "Looks like I win again…"
Snickering from the audience, the now fifteenth ranked lion hero Shishido shifted his healed jaw in amusement to his rival. "Just wait, flipper…. I'll be seeing you soon up there."
"Next at number 8 we have the famous hero from the squeaky clean ads. The cleaning hero Wash!"
The washing machine look alike seemingly danced around on stage, leaving a few of the other heroes in the crowd with their eyes twitching in annoyance they were beaten by an appliance.
"After his aid in the Kamino incident, his climb isn't stopping! Number seven, Kamui Woods!"
"Thank you all," Kamui said to the crowd, waving to them as he got in place on stage.
"Keeping his defense sturdy, the number six ranked; Shield hero Crust!"
The man in a green cape and white mask seemingly cried on stage. "All Might… I will do whatever it takes to keep your spirit alive!"
"Keeping his nerves intact, the stealthy ninja keeps his spot. Number five ranked, Edgeshot!"
Glancing to his right, Edgeshot looked to the person beside him in amusement. "It seems I was correct in how you and Bakugo would've turned out."
"While he isn't here, his support in Kamino kept him in the rankings at number four. Best Jeanist! But now the big talk of the town is the bunny with a spark! Bounding her way up the rankings to number three, the rabbit hero Mirko!"
"How about you shut that trap of yours before I put my foot in it…" Mirko snickered underneath her grin at the ninja hero, somewhat annoyed she was even here in the first place.
Swooping into number two, he may be laid back but is certainly ferocious! The winged hero, Hawks!"
The young man of twenty two sighed as he rubbed his golden hair, the large red wings on his back shifting slightly. "What a pain…" He glanced to the empty spot beside himself, chuckling to himself. "Perhaps the pressure was too much for the big man."
"Surprisingly, it seems the number one hero is not here…" The announcer said in disappointment, hoping for a chance to see the next big hero in Japan. "Perhaps he is busy keeping an eye on the streets for all of us to make sure it is safe."
As the crowd continued cheering, the president of the hero commission made her way on stage, shaking the different heroes hands. When she got to Mirko, she struggled to keep her frown from growing as the rabbit hero simply grinned at her. "Surprised to see you here, Mirko…" She muttered.
"What, still upset from that day?" Mirko asked, taunting as she offered her hand to shake. "I Have to look good for the public. Just like you, right?"
The president grunted in annoyance as she stared at the gloved covered hand for a moment, reaching and shaking it as well. "I hear you're staying by the school still. Acting paranoid, I see…" She muttered and went to release, only to wince as Mirko's grip tightened.
"Just making sure you keep that promise about letting things be…" Mirko hissed under her breath, grinning more as she felt the president's hand shake in her grasp. "...Would hate to see that broken."
Struggling to keep her face straight, the president inhaled as her hand was released, shifting her fingers to gain feeling back. Narrowing her gaze, she moved away from the rabbit hero and onto the number two ranked, frowning from the curious look he gave her. "Something interesting between you two ladies?" Hawks humorously asked.
Glaring as she shook his hand, she turned and walked to the podium at the front of the stage, pulling the mic out of the holster. "Thank you all for being here today. The reason we are all here today is because this is a turning point for the country. Over three months have passed since All Might retired, and we have new heroes to take up the mantle of the symbol of peace."
She paused as the corner of her eye noticed the empty spot to the end, frowning that the new top figure wasn't even here. "Unfortunately, the main reason for this entire event today was unable to attend today, thanks to-
The sudden gasps from the crowd below caught everyone's attention, causing the president to stop and look where everyone else was. From the stage, the heroes in attendance all saw the approaching figure, causing Mirko to snicker in amusement. "So he finally showed up, huh?"
"Wait a minute, he has made his appearance! After weeks of unknown whereabouts, the new number one hero is here! The flame hero Endeavor!"
"Haven't seen him in weeks…" Gang Orca muttered to himself, looking to Ryukyu beside him.
Making his way through the crowd, the flame hero had finally shown himself to the public after all this time. The fire danced above his body as he walked through the crowd, encasing the new pieces of armor that covered his shoulders and his steel gauntlets. But the armor wasn't the thing that caught the citizens beside him as he passed by. The intimating aura wasn't as strong as before, in fact feeling… softer. His gaze however was what seemed the most… different.
Staring as Endeavor made his way onto the large platform, she was surprised he didn't try to come and make a statement himself. Instead, Enji walked right by her and to the far left of the group, standing beside the younger Hawks. The winged hero adjusted the yellow glasses on his face with a grin, glancing over to the taller hero. "Quite the honor, the new number one made his way here. Get held up with all the autographs outside?" To his own surprise now, his taunt went completely unnoticed by the flame hero, leaving him to sigh and look forward again.
"I stand corrected," The president said as she turned to the crowd once more, taking a breath as she straightened her suit. "Here we have the new faces that shall lead us to the new tomorrow. With All Might gone now, they will have to bear the burden of the challenge of filling that space left by our symbol of peace. And now, we shall hear a word from each of our heroes."
As an assistant walked the mic down to Ryukyu first, each of the heroes gave their words on what they were ready to do to step up themselves to the next level. Enji simply stared forward blankly towards the lights above the stage, hardly even taking in the comments from the many different heroes below him. His mind was instead thinking of something far from this rankings meeting in front of everyone. Something he, for probably one of the first times in his life he didn't even care about. He had other reasons why he was even here.
One by one the different heroes spoke their feelings about what they felt about their rankings, with the mic being passed to the ninja hero next, thinking for a moment before speaking. "I feel thankful for the support everyone has given me for this ranking. This year I've seen what new heroes could be coming soon to take our place. I will make sure to work as hard as I can to keep this place safe until the next generation overtake our rankings and keep you safe next."
Mirko's ear twitched at the ninja's statement, knowing he was referring to Bakugo especially. Since the pair both worked with the same kid, they could see he and the others around him were certainly the next big things. She watched as the assistant pulled the mic away from the ninja. "Thank you for your dedication, Edgeshot. And now, we have the newly third ranked hero, Mirko! Also, is it true that you've been seen at UA recently as security?" the young woman said as she held the mic up for the rabbit hero.
Mirko's gaze caught sight of the president looking over from the corner of her eye, cautious of what the rabbit would try to say. This only made the white haired woman snicker inside, clicking her tongue as she shrugged to the crowd. "I just do what I have always done; beat the she shit out of any creep that thinks they can do whatever they want. After I decided to take a little twerp under me, I think I got a kick seeing what kind of heroes we got coming our way, and figured I could keep an eye on them to make sure nothing happens again. I know the commission is very excited for the next group of heroes coming up, and I'll kick any villains ass that tries to mess with any of them. That's a promise."
Clenching her fists at the taunt, the president wished she could've just ended this show now. After her attempt to get her way with the school, she didn't expect to learn payments through the school would simply be covered from within. And she had simply expected Mirko to avoid this show, yet she came here just to rub it in the president's face. And yet she had to keep her face straight in front of the entire crowd.
One who didn't hide his annoyance however, was Hawks. The young hero was not one to ever enjoy sitting in pressers, and now he had to listen to others try and sound like they were different than the ones before them, sighing as he actually decided to grab the mic from the assistant. "It's kind of interesting everyone just sounds like the same record, and yet your numbers are all saying a different story."
Now everyone in the arena fell silent to the young man's words, the others on stage turning curiously to the winged hero as he flapped his wings, lifting himself off the ground. "It's quite interesting how we are standing in this order, and yet the approval ratings are quite different; Jeanist is actually number one since the raid those months ago, and I sit at number two still. Edgeshot is third, and Mirko here is at four after her shared presser with Endeavor… who actually now sits at fifth after the mission he led. While he did get the job done, it was Mirko who took down more of the criminals than Endeavor did."
"You got some balls talking shit, pigeon boy," Mirko growled under breath at the winged hero flapping both his wings and mouth above.
"It's just the facts that everyone here is trying to hold onto this old mentality when All Might is gone now, in a time where we need a new symbol of peace for this country. All you people who aren't even ranked as high as me are acting so calm and tame right now when they should be fighting harder to be the best they can in the people's eyes. How about you talk more like real heroes?"
The entire arena didn't make a peep after the seemingly cocky hero's comments, the humming of the lights, the flapping wings of Hawks and the flickering flames on Endeavor the only sounds being heard. Most of the other heroes simply grew annoyed by the young mans words, yet there was some murmuring in the crowd from some of the audience members. Lowering himself down, Hawks gave a small shrug. "Enough from me, though. How about we hear it from the hero with lower approval ratings than me, the new number one."
While many had no idea what he was trying to play at, Hawks was quite the clever one when he came to speak. He was simply trying to get a rise out of Endeavor, wanting to see how the top hero himself would respond to negativity and opposition as a test. As he held the microphone out for him, he was ready for perhaps a harsh glare and the mic to be forcibly snatched from him. What he saw however surprised even Hawks himself… a calm look coming from the flame hero staring right back at him as he calmly grabbed the microphone for his turn. Hawks settled himself on the ground as Endeavor took a few steps towards the crowd. "Now that was unexpected…" Hawks muttered.
Enji stared down at the microphone in his hands, his brain contemplating the statement he just heard from the young man, almost echoing the very thoughts that had been plaguing his mind for quite some time now. His mind suddenly became cloudy as he looked to the lights above, envisioning the conversation days ago.
Several days back
Rei Todoroki felt as if her heart was hammering through her chest from the words she just heard, a single tear falling down her face.
"Touya… he's alive?" she asked him, earning a sharp gasp from Enji.
"He's… he's been alive all this time. After I didn't go meet him on the mountain, and those flames lost control. I didn't know how to talk him out of it, so I just didn't go, and I thought he was gone. Now I see he's been alive this whole time, and now he's a villain… all because of what I did." He gripped his hair in guilt, the pain of seeing just how much he failed as a father truly crushing him. "I put all my focus into Shoto, into his quirk. I abandoned everything I knew just because I wanted to beat All Might. I caused him to be that way! And now, he's done all this to destroy me and everyone close to me… including Shoto and the others."
Several drips fell onto the bed as Rei took in the information she heard, remembering the letter Shoto wrote her about his girlfriend being hurt. Now that she learned this Dabi that set up the attack was in fact her own child, to find out he was her own child, she saw he was going to attack their family through any means necessary. She sat for several minutes as the information sunk in, thinking back to the few fond memories she had with her eldest child.
"Touya…. This whole time you were alive… and now he's after the others…" She whispered, breathing steadily to keep herself calm. "All those times when he was in pain, I could've been there to help him."
"Don't…" Enji muttered, "Don't try and say you could've done something to help him. If I had not done what I had, this wouldn't have even come to this." Looking up at her, he could see the few tears on her face, making him wince in pain. "I… I am sorry for everything."
"If that is true, then what are you doing here?"
Enji's eyes widened in surprise to her words. "Because… I had to tell you I-
"No… why aren't you out there then?" She asked, taking another breath. "If you feel guilt for what you've done, you should be out there facing the results of your choices."
Feeling his mouth fall open in surprise, Enji felt his body shiver from the serious look she gave. "I… Don't know how to-
"To what? To go out and face danger?" Rei asked. "Your choices in life were all for the job you work, to keep the streets safe from those who try and hurt others. If anything in your life you were good at, it was that."
She shifted in her chair, facing the distraught man. "Of all things in your life, I do know your determination knows no bounds. Your determination is what got you to become number two all those years ago… and it was your determination that led to everything else that has happened between us and our children. Now, you use that determination to do whatever comes next…"
Present Day
Enji took a breath as the lights of the arena shone down on him, lifting the microphone to his face to speak.
"Hawks is correct."
Many of the audience murmured in surprise to the flame hero's answer, even Hawks's grin leaving his face. "Really unexpected."
"I have always been one to catch villains whenever they cause harm, and yet… I am not the perfect person you may think. I have flaws, some you… can't even imagine." Enji explained, the audience was silent to his totally different approach than normal. "Despite me facing the villains on the street, I did not account how you all saw me, and I apologize… A hero should make others feel inspired and safe, so if I haven't done that, I am sorry."
Squeezing the mic in his grasp, Enji looked around to the audience's surprised faces, taking in their looks before continuing. "In truth… perhaps I don't deserve this spot. Perhaps I am not the one everyone should look at for inspiration. And as someone who is supposed to keep hope in people, I have failed that so far. But… I promise this. I will do everything to make sure you see me differently, and I won't break that promise."
As he lowered the microphone, the audience remained silent for a moment, before several people began applauding. While it wasn't a booming standing ovation, the cheers grew in many appreciating the honest answer. Some still remained silent, skeptical about how this man was going to be the replacement for All Might. Now they simply had to watch and see what was going to come from this change.
After the presentation was finished, Enji made his way through the back of the building, hoping to avoid the press. Talking to the media certainly wasn't something he was keen on doing yet, needing a little more time to clear his head. As he opened a door towards the back, he frowned when there was someone waiting for him leaning against the wall.
"There he is, the big man himself," Hawks chuckled. "It's been a while since anyone has seen you. Glad to see you back."
"Thanks…" Enji responded, walking through and shutting the door behind him. "That was quite the statement you made."
Hawks gave a small shrug. "Hey, the others were kind of boring me with their repeated nonsense. I just had to spice it up a little bit." He took off his glasses and rubbed his head. "By the way, i was just testing the waters to get a rise out of you, see how the next number one could take some criticism. Honestly, I was waiting for a heated response."
Enji breathed and walked by the younger hero, his eyes staring at the ground. "Perhaps you are right…"
Now Hawks was actually surprised. Of all the heroes he admired, it may have come to a surprise to many to learn All Might wasn't his favorite as a kid. Seeing the flame hero suddenly calm and quiet, however, it brought a level of concern to the winged hero. "Endeavor."
Enji stopped walking to his name being called, listening to the footsteps of Hawks approaching.
"After that raid you led on the hunters, you disappeared for weeks. You weren't just avoiding the press. You were completely MIA the entire time. You certainly didn't take a vacation." Hawks stated, looking over the taller man. "Something happened to you, but obviously you have no intention to reveal it to the public."
Enji's fists shook in frustration before taking a breath, walking forward once more. "Then it's obvious I won't be sharing it with you at this moment."
"Then let me explain something that has happened since your raid," Hawks said, "I was working to get close to the league of villains."
The cold ringing in Enji's ears seemed to magnify when he heard that, his heart rate rising as he turned around. "What?"
Hawks gave a nod to him. "I was tasked a mission; to act as if I was leaving the hero commission and was interested in helping the villains. It was a plan developed by the commission to infiltrate them from the inside and gain information about the organization once we found out they were recruiting members. The only problem is while I did make contact with them and was close to setting up a meeting with them… all contact has fully ceased… not long after your raid and the one with Nighteye took place."
Enji felt sweat fall down his neck, assuming it was they already knew the connection with his son. "You... were involved with them?"
"Somewhat... I only met that one they call Twice and was planning to meet with more of them, but everything went dark sometime ago. I haven't been able to contact any of them since. So it seems that mission is dead in the water." He grunted and popped his neck. "Perhaps they sniffed me out, or simply found something far more interesting. Either way, we haven't had any leads since. and since some of the league members were involved, I was hoping you had any information about what happened."
"And you are telling this because...?"
the commission president coming down the hallway caught both of the heroes attention, with Hawks chuckling out. "Hey, he is number one, he should have an idea of what we're doing."
While she was annoyed with Hawks revealing a secret operation, his recent news of it going cold left not much more to discuss. "Very well, as you were told, the plan we had for the league infiltration has reached a standstill, and therefore we are working on a new plan to flush them out." The president noticed the perplexed look on the flame heroes face, curious growing with her. "You doing alright, Endeavor? it's been sometime since we've seen you."
"I... I'm fine..." He lied, needing a moment for himself. "I just need to go now."
"Before you go, there is something important..." She stated, needing this chance. "... Something important to discuss about your intern... Katara."
Enji's eyes widened in confusion. "What about her?"
"It's come to my attention she isn't who she says she is. in fact... She is unlike anything we've seen before."
The flame hero stared at the president for sometime, his eyes wide with what seemed to be curiosity. The president could only hope for the top hero to now be questioning this, to get the support she needed and-
"You are referring to her powers?"
Endeavor's answer made even the president's eyes widen in surprise, not expecting to hear that. "You... you know about her?"
"I've known for sometime now. ever since she was at the hospital." Enji said, walking passed the president and towards the exit.
"You what?" She said, glaring and walking after him. "You've known? you've known and not said anything to us? do you know what this means? her powers are-
"I know enough about her to make my judgement and have my answer to what she is. she's what the commission needs." Enji stated as he opened the door to the exit.
the president furrowed her brow in frustration. "And what's that?"
Enji sat for a moment, the question stopping him before he came up with the answer. "A true hero."
Shutting the door behind him, the president was left with a bewildered look, realizing her biggest card to play was now against her plan. behind her, Hawks simply stared in amusement before clapping a few times. "This girl you told me about certainly draws in the crowd. I kind of wish I can meet her sometime."
Later that day; UA High: Main office
Sitting across from the two teachers, Nezu flipped through the different pages on his desk, reading over the different names separated into different pairs or groups. "So, you think these are good choices you've made for this exercise?" He asked.
"In all honesty this seems insane to call this an exercise." Vlad king grunted as he rubbed his brow. "This doesn't even seem fair."
"I have to agree.." Aizawa muttered, "When you said you wanted to have a test, you didn't think this was a bit much?"
"It may be over the top, but it is a fun way to test these students to see how far they've come so far," Nezu smiled at the two frowning teachers. "This isn't about winning or losing, but to test how well they can do against adversity."
"Wasn't that why we suggested the training of them by facing each other, not this." Vlad said, "You think there are any of them who can even last more than a few minutes?"
Nezu looked down to the list that came from Aizawa's class, taking note of two names placed together that made him chuckle. "Perhaps we may be surprised by how well they could do. This is the chance to see them shine by going against a true challenge before us."
