Shoto took a breath as he and his assigned partner made their way down the pathway, both of their heart rates high as they prepared themselves for battle. "I hope this idea of yours is good enough," Kendo said to him.
"It's the only strategy we have against someone like her," he responded, taking a deep breath once more. "We don't have the speed to outmaneuver her in any way, so this is the best route."
"I hope so, because if it doesn't, just expect your head to be caved in." Kendo muttered, cracking her knuckles. "Like I said, You haven't seen the most she can do yet."
Nodding, Shoto rubbed his right hand as they came to a large open street. Knowing their styles of fighting were so different, he and Kendo knew they had to come up with the only strategy they could use together to make this work. "Iida lasted just over seven minutes. Let's make sure we "break that." he said as his hand began frosting, readying himself. As soon as the alarm went off for the start, he exhaled, looking over to her as she gave a nod in response. "This is going to get cold, be ready."
"I'm set," do it." She said.
Growling out, Shoto slammed his right hand onto the street, the ice rushing out in all directions from the pair and covering the ground. As it went out more than twenty meters, ice wall burst upwards surrounding them. The loud creaking of the ice climbing higher until the barrier rose to the height of the buildings beside them, crawling inward and creating an entire ice roof over themselves and locking them inside. After a few moments the loud rumble from the ice subsided, leaving only the chilly air behind inside the massive ice barrier. Lifting his frost covered arm up, Shoto shivered as he stood up, exhaling a thick frost from his mouth. "There…"
Immediately Kendo felt the cold from the ice surrounding them, hissing and rubbing her arms through her long sleeves. "Even my winter outfit is not helping much with this." she chuckled out.
"Here," Shoto raised his left arm and ignited his flames, the heat warming his right side back to normal. As the frost melted off his body, he left his arm out for his partner. "At least you can stay warm for now."
"Definitely not saying no to that," Kendo laughed and held her hands in front of the flames, warming herself back up. "So, you do this to keep Katara warm in the evenings?"
Blushing at her giggle, Shoto couldn't help but smile and laugh back. "If she asked for it, I would."
"So romantic," Kendo and Shoto laughed for a moment before she looked over to the ice, worry growing inside her. "How thick is all that?"
"About seven meters, but going by what you said, that will only slow her down for a few moments." Shoto answered, looking where she was. "It doesn't matter. This will give us the time we need before she is on us."
From the audience watching, many grew confused why they were creating something so obvious, but a select number of the students immediately saw the strategy. "They know they can't outrun her, so they made their ground and fortified instead." Izuku said.
"Yeah, they know they would be better having her come on their terms." Katara responded. "I'm just worried about the way their fighting styles will blend."
"Because Todoroki is long range while Kendo is close," Izuku grasped his chin, "Perhaps why they put us together as well, then."
Katara gave a small nod, "Probably. But You are certainly faster and can maneuver much more than she can. He will have to watch his attacks more with her around."
Bakugo overheard the two of them talking, frowning as he stared at the ice on screen. While he knew she packed quite the hit herself, Kendo was lacking in the speed department. Not only that, he knew the way she fought, and needed a team partner that could help bring out her full potential, and she certainly wasn't going to get that with Icy-Hot.
Rushing through the testing grounds, Mirko ran down the road towards the loud rumble that echoed in the air. The hero was quite surprised whatever these kids were doing was making so much noise, especially with who she was facing now. "Surprised that Kendo kid didn't say be quieter… unless she and Endeavor's kid planned this." she said to herself, knowing the groups put into only two were far above the others. That meant they certainly weren't going to be as foolish as doing something like this without a reason, making her more excited now while kicking off the road. "Wonder what these little brats are thinking of."
As she leaped onto the building beside her, the rabbit hero jumped through the sky until she saw the cause of the sound, tilting her head in surprise. "Subtlety wasn't on the agenda I see. That means…" Landing on the roof beside the ice fortress, she placed her hand on the chilly substance, seeing just how thick it was. Even with her intense hearing, she could barely pick up the slightest sound of speaking inside, unable to hear what they were saying. What she did know, is they were inside this thing waiting for her, something that made her laugh. "Making it so you know exactly where I'm coming from. Not bad."
Cracking her neck, she flexed her legs and leaped into the air with her foot raised. "I'll play along with that!"
Her heel crashing into the surface of the ice caused a fracture across the entire roof, splitting in all directions. She laughed as she jumped up again, aiming for the same spot and drove both her feet into it, breaking through and dropping into the ice cavern on the large block. Immediately however, the bright glow made her eyes widen, turning to see the column of flames rushing her. Flipping to the other side of the ice she was on, the fire crashed into the shield she had making her chuckle. "First strike, not bad at all!" She shouted and kicked the ice in the direction of the fire, launching it through the flames at the source. Landing on the ground, she listened as the ice crashed into the ground, watching as the steam dissipated to the surprise of multiple ice domes, protecting the two teens.
"You knew I'd find you quick, so you planned a strategy for me," Mirko said as the heard the ice rushing her way, turning and jumping out of the way from the column charging at her from the right. While mid air, however, her eyes widened as the entire area from that direction became engulfed in a massive glacier, the ice rushing at her and she couldn't avoid while up. "Come on!" She yelled out in excitement, tightening her muscles and slamming her leg into the incoming ice and shattering a huge portion off. The rest of it, however, was certainly more than even she could break at once, slamming into her and engulfing her body in ice as it slammed her into the ice wall behind her, the impact cracking some of the ice fortress.
Panting, Shoto stood up from his hiding spot, frost crawling up his entire left side. Using the strongest ice he could muster was getting easier, but still pushed his body's endurance dealing with that much at once. Quickly activating his left, he warmed his core up, the sizzle from the frost melting not keeping his eyes off the spot where Mirko was, Knowing she would be breaking out of that at any moment. "Something like that is certainly not holding her long."
The sudden ice cracking behind him however made his eyes widen, turning to see the wall behind him break out and mirko bursting at him. "What?!" He shouted as he blasted his flames at her, missing as she sprinted to the right. His mind suddenly clicked, quickly glancing at the ice he slammed into the wall… and the cracks going out from the impact. "She didn't push back against it… she used its momentum to break out of the wall at the same time."
"Not bad, you brat!" Mirko yelled as she launched herself at him, kicking through the ice he created, only for her ear to pick up the footstep from the side and turn and use her leg to block the punch from Kendo to the side.
"Kendo!" Shoto shouted as he shot fire at Mirko, making her leap back out of the way. "Why are you-
"She was going to take your head off, so you're welcome!" she retorted for coming from her hiding spot. "Obviously she knows you're the bigger threat and will go for you mostly."
As Mirko landed back down in front of them, Shoto exhaled and activated his ice once more. "Then let's use that to our advantage."
For Mirko, she could hear what they just said, making her shake her head in disappointment. "These kids never learn." She said as she burst from her spot toward them, going right at Kendo to throw off their supposed game plan. As she whipped her leg out, however, the red headed teen was lifted out of the way by a column of ice, the hero slamming into the ice before needing to kick at the ice Shoto created at his feet. Leaping up before her feet got encased, her ears twitched when she heard more movement above, flipping her body up and using her legs to block the powerful punch from Kendo leaping at her.
"You knew I heard that, didn't you?" Mirko chuckled, earning a grin from Kendo.
"We knew you would, and you'd come right at me!" Kendo shouted as she began throwing punches at Mirko, the rabbits legs blocking them as they both fell back towards the ground. While she did try, her arm was kicked back leaving her open, her eyes widening as Mirko came in for another blow before Shoto's ice shielded his partner, her foot stifled enough by the ice Kendo was able to block it with her hand. The force sent Kendo flying downward, luckily caught by Shoto before he quickly shot his flames at the rabbit hero, engulfing her.
"I Guess that worked for a second," Shoto grunted as he set her down, charging the fire in his hand again. "We keep the pressure on her!"
Dropping out of the fire, Mirko grunted in annoyance as she shook off the small patches of fire on her suit and her hair, quickly touching the ground and bolting out of the way from the other stream of fire rushing at her. Evading the fire, her eyes looked around to the ice that surrounded all of them, snickering to herself before flipping into the air and bringing her heel up. "Luna arc!"
The axe kick to the ground shattered the ground and caused the entire area to shake from the impact, the chunks of street bursting up from the hit. Both Kendo and Shoto were pushed back from the wind created, stopped by the block of ice Shoto formed behind them. Gritting his teeth, Shoto dropped down and slammed his right hand into the ground, the ice rushing out and attempting to encase the rest of the internal space to stifle the rabbit hero. As it seemed to engulf her, Kendo's eyes widened when she saw a large chunk of the street flying above them and heading right at them. "Look out!" She shouted and pushed him out of the way, enlarging her hand and shattering the boulder to pieces. "We know exactly where she is in this ice capsule, but being stuck with her inside isn't really helping us!"
While keeping her contained was part of the plan, Shoto had to agree fighting Mirko at such close range was far harder than they had thought, and unfortunately she could break out at any point, so they were simply putting themselves at a disadvantage. "Let's get out of here then!" He shouted and slammed his right foot down, creating a thick wall of ice between both themselves and the next concrete boulder coming their way. Turning around, he took a deep breath as his left hand ignited, grunting as he blasted a stream of fire into the ice behind and made a tunnel for them to escape, running out into the open.
"You can't reshape the ice?" Kendo asked, thinking back to what Katara would do.
"No," Shoto huffed in disappointment, his ears picking up the pounding of Mirko's foot on the ice wall. "Once I make the ice, I can't change its shape after that."
BOOM!
The powerful tremor behind made both of them stumble, turning to see Mirko bursting through the top of the ice dome and burst straight towards them. "Luna fall!"
"Gah!" Kendo gasped as Shoto grabbed her and jumped out of the way, shocked as she was suddenly lifted by the ice beneath her feet and carried along the street by her partner. Regaining her balance, she held onto his shirt as they raced across the road, looking back as Mirko burst through the dust after them, the teen's eyes wide as she threw a punch at the rabbit woman's foot, the impact making her arm shake and nearly fall off the ice. 'Her legs are like solid steel. They are way harder than that crocodile guys head!'
"Hold on!" Shoto yelled and redirected his path, surfing the two of them in a tight turn around a corridor as Mirko dug her feet into the ground, stopping and turning to leap far into the air over them. Gritting his teeth, Shoto formed an ice barrier in front of their footing, keeping their momentum strong and charging forward while Mirko instead of going right at them, aimed at the ground ahead and slammed into the road, splitting off a few chunks from the ground and lifting them with her foot.
"Let's test that ice, shall we?" Mirko snickered as she flicked the concrete up before quickly kicking both of them at the ice, each breaking off large chunks of the ice with each hit. As Shoto unleashed a large stream of ice at her in front to keep them going, Mirko laughed as she spun like a buzzsaw, ripping through the ice right at the pair.
"Here she comes!" Kendo yelled and leaped off the ice to the side, leaving Shoto free to go all out. The ice crawled up his arm and neck as he charged his power, gritting his teeth and swiping his hand forward.
Mirko herself felt her eyes widen to the large explosion of ice and frost rushing at her as she leaped backwards while it chased. Once Midair, she saw she didn't have the time to avoid it, tucking her body into a tight ball and locking every muscle of hers. After the frost dissipated, Shoto panted and reignited his left, balancing his temperature out as Kendo ran over next to him. "You okay?" she asked.
"I'll be fine," Shoto muttered, getting more used to the temperature variants. "We have to-
The loud cracking of the glacier made both of their eyes widen, looking up to see the top burst out, with Mirko breaking out of the ice like a beast from a film. Even as Shoto blasted fire her way, she kicked off some of the falling ice to catapult herself into the street right between the pair. Glaring, Kendo expanded both hands and began throwing blows at the rabbit, frustrated as each hit was blocked by a quick swipe of Mirko's leg.
"Kendo, watch out!" Shoto shouted as he focused the flames in his hand to a fine point.
As Kendo leaped out of the way, Mirko's ear twitched to the sizzle forming from the teen, quickly dropping down underneath his burning punch that tore through the steel wall behind both of them. "Well, that would've hurt!" Mirko whistled as she flipped upward over the punch from Kendo, kicking away the second punch while spinning and breaking through the ice Shoto unleashed at her side. Twisting her body, her legs spun like a pinwheel shattering the rest of the ice while in motion, landing hits to both teens and sending them different directions.
Crawling back up, Kendo shook her head before looking in shock as Mirko was already above her, expanding both hands and blocking the kick coming her way. While she stopped the attack, the sheer force sent Kendo flying back and slamming into the wall, wheezing from the wind knocked out of her and collapsed to her knees. "Sorry, kid. No hard feelings since we worked together in the caves," Mirko muttered. "But I got a job to do."
Shoto coughed as he crawled back up as well, glaring and blasting flames at Mirko and making her jump back. He made his way in front of Kendo, shielding his partner before creating an ice shield around her. "Wha… what are you doing?" She wheezed out, pressing her hand against the ice.
"Our plans aren't working… she's just too fast and strong…" Shoto huffed out, the flames on his left side beginning to grow. "If we can't fight her for the time… then we will keep her away for the entire time then."
In an instant, the fire erupted from Shoto's side, causing the temperature area around himself to suddenly explode. The heat wave hit Mirko like a train, shielding her face as her hair was blown back. "Jesus!" She shouted in surprise, her body feeling like she was in an oven. Even as she stepped towards him, the heat only rose even more and made her skin feel on fire. "Damn kid's got some surprises still!"
Even from behind the ice wall he made, Kendo suddenly felt like the air itself was burning, pinning herself against the ice to keep herself cooler. "Holy shit…" She huffed out, worried as the ice began melting as well. "Todoroki!"
Gritting his teeth, Shoto reached out and touched the ice with his right hand, struggling but getting more ice to form over the shield. His body felt like it was burning too, the heat internally growing hotter and hotter. After all the years of wanting to refuse his fathers power, he knew this was the time to finally use it to it's limit, to push himself farther and farther. "More… go even hotter!"
The heat around rose even more, cracking the windows nearby and even shattering one of the cameras watching the match. Even Mirko retreated back, her skin feeling like it was going to melt off if she stood there any more. "Damn it… gotta make it annoying for me," She growled out, feeling as if the heat was chasing her. "Little brats decided to play keep away. I hate playing that!" She shouted and slammed her foot into the ground stopping her. Ripping out a chunk of the street, she flicked it up in the air. Unlike last time, however, she spun and added more force into this kick and shattered the concrete, launching it into hundreds of pieces like a machine gun at the burning teen.
Shoto growled and ignited his fist, blasting an inferno down the city and scorching the incoming rocks and at the rabbit hero. Sprinting down the road, she leaped into a warehouse smashing through the wall, pinning a large piece of steel underneath her feet and leaping through the air onto a nearby roof. "Alright, you want to play like that, then I guess I'll play along." Mirko grunted, grabbing the sheet of metal and holding it in front of herself. Flexing her legs, they seemed to swell in size as she blasted off the roof so hard she shattered the top, looking like a rocket heading right at Shoto. "Come on!"
Glaring, Shoto's left burst out a thick stream of flames at the incoming rabbit, her shield blocking the fire as she rushed through it. In a last second reaction, he turned and swiped his right hand and formed a massive ice column rushing straight at his foe. Mirko laughed and spun midair, using the steel to redirect herself out of the way before using the metal below her feet to skim down the glacier. The moment she saw his left begin igniting once more, Mirko quickly flicked the metal up and launched it down at him, forcing him to dodge that as she catapulted herself off the ice. In that single moment, she slammed into his body, crashing him through the ice protecting Kendo and slamming into her as well, all three breaking through the wall.
Gasping as she bounced across the ground, Kendo felt her shoulder pop before crashing through a broken table, coughing out the dust that filled her lungs. She panted as she looked over to Shoto crawling up from the floor as well, his body dripping with sweat from his quirk. Both were sore and feeling pain throughout, turning to see Mirko standing up from the rubble, brushing the chunks of concrete free from her hair. "Damn, actually feel a bit of sweat from that shit." She huffed out, immediately slamming her foot into the ground stifling the ice Shoto unleashed her way.
"We… we aren't done yet!" Kendo yelled as she pushed herself off the ground and charged Mirko, throwing multiple punches only to be blocked every time by Mirko's legs kicking up, just before an especially hard kick sent a sharp pain through her entire arm making her gasp out. Before she could even grip her arm, the straight kick to her stomach knocked out whatever breath she was holding in. After that, all the strength she had left drained from her, feeling her body grow numb as she blacked out and collapsed to the ground.
"K-Kendo!" Shoto growled out and stood up, only for Mirko to be on him in less than a second and pinning him down to the ground. He ignited his fire once more, but before it could even get it going, the rabbit hero's hand chopped him directly in the throat, causing him to gasp out in agony.
"You got some talent, kid. I can see why you and your girlfriend would be a dangerous duo," She laughed as his eyes widened despite not breathing, followed by his ice covered hand reaching up to freeze her. He gasped as his hand was pinned to the ground by her foot, followed by her hand delivering another chop to the side of his neck, causing his vision to finally black out, ending their match.
Team 12: Seven minutes and twenty two seconds
"Shoto…" Katara gasped as she watched him slump to the ground, frustrated watching him hurt like that on screen.
"Damn, they were doing pretty good keeping her at bay," Kirishima grunted in disappointment.
"Ribbit… They did set a new time record." Tsu quietly croaked out.
Katara frowned when the medical bots came by and hoisted Shoto off the ground, carrying him out of the arena. Her knuckles tightened seeing him hurt like that, wishing she was there now. She looked over to Izuku, however, and saw the look on his face her way. "Sorry… it's just…"
"Hard seeing someone you care about hurt. I know…" He quietly said, looking over to Momo adjusting her cape. "I feel the same as well."
Taking a breath, Katara shook her head, knowing she couldn't let her personal feelings get in the way of their training. They were all here to test against a top pro, and that meant there could be some damage. As the other teens talked about the match that concluded, Bakugo silently watched as Kendo was helped off the ground by Mirko, glaring as she buckled over onto the robot stretcher. He himself felt frustrated watching that match more than the others, turning and making his way towards the pathway to enter the facility next.
"I'm not losing to you, cottontail…" he hissed to himself, slipping the small items into his waist belt. "Let's go, ponytail, we aren't going down against her!"
"I'm coming," Momo muttered, looking over to Izuku coming her way. "Just… give me a second."
"You can make out with Deku later. Keep your head in the game!"
Blushing, Momo shook her head and smiled as he came up to her. "Well, I guess we are up now. Wish me luck."
Izuku gave a smile in return."Good luck, Momo. I hope you figured out a plan of dealing with her speed."
"Well, I have a few ideas already," she responded, feeling the multitude of items already made for herself underneath her cloak. "If you want, I can give you some and help you in your and Katara's match."
"No, I appreciate it… but this is a test for us on our own, and we need to keep it that way." He answered, making her laugh.
"You always do like pushing yourself. That's what I hope to do as well today." Momo nodded and turned to the entrance. "I'll be back to cheer you on as well."
As the teens prepared themselves for what came next, Aizawa watched as the medical bots carried the two teens out of the facility, reaching up and hitting his ear piece. "Listen, I know you aren't one to hold back, but this is a time to be somewhat cautious."
"What are you whining about?" Mirko growled through the ear piece. "You wanted me to test these brats, so I'm testing them."
"And a few of the concrete you were kicking at them could kill if it actually landed."
"Quit your bitching. I can tell what they can or can't take when I'm against them, so let me do my job. Besides… If I don't try myself against these last few groups, I may actually be in trouble at times…"
That statement from the rabbit hero actually surprised Aizawa and the other staff who heard her, glancing over to one another. Midnight couldn't help but chuckle herself. "My my, I didn't expect her to say that."
"Yeah…" Vlad agreed, grunting as he looked at the names on the list. "Perhaps she is getting tired? Fighting so many one after another?"
"It's possible… Even if they aren't the most difficult, she is taking them in succession with no rest. Everyone does have limits." Midnight added.
"And I've seen her go for an hour straight in battle…" Toshinori quietly said, shaking his head. "After what you saw her deal with during the Trust me, she is far too stubborn to admit her faults most of the time, but she certainly will tell the truth when need be. Even with the little bit of damage she's been taking, it's simply the fact she knows these final three pairs are much more dangerous than even most pros."
Tensei couldn't help but smile hearing that, looking over to Katara as she spoke with her friends. He had been hearing for months now just how powerful she had become, and other than watching the replays from the sports festival, that was it. He had never been able to watch Katara truly go all out, and now she was being paired up with this kid Midoriya, who from what he'd heard was at the top of the class as well. The fact they were being saved for last was obviously at Mirko's request, wanting to save the most difficult team at the end for herself.
She wanted the best challenge for last.
As soon as the siren went off signaling the start of their match, both Bakugo and Momo took breaths, one for what they could face, and the other knowing what they were facing. Cracking his neck, the explosive teen looked into his waist belt, frowning to himself and turning to the assigned partner he had. "Hey, give me the other stuff." he demanded.
"Huh?" Momo tilted her head in surprise. "What do you mean? I was supposed to take half of them and go the other direction."
"You'd be hell of slow and would take forever," he growled out.
"Oh really? I bet I will spread mine out first before you do."
"JUST TRY IT! I'LL IT IN HALF THE TIME!" Bakugo shouted and blasted off the ground, taking off in the opposite directions from her.
"He's too easy to convince sometimes," Momo rolled her eyes as she ran the other direction, knowing all he needed was saying it was a competition. As she rounded a corner, she slipped out one of the small items from her cape and dropped it by the wall. As she ran down the road, she continued tucking the small items in small crevices or behind pipes, trying to keep them out of sight before looking around, making sure she was still alone. "With how fast she is, I hope she goes after him first…"
Back with the rest of the class, everyone was watching curiously as Momo continued setting items around the facility, unable to tell what they were from the camera angles. As the screen changed, it now showed Bakugo flying through the large complex, flipping over the pipes while also dropping small items as he went.
"What are they doing?" Mina asked.
"I don't know, but perhaps leaving supplies as they go in case of emergencies?" Izuku guessed, gripping his chin curiously. "I didn't get to talk to her much about what she was planning. I wish I did now."
Katara nodded in agreement. Momo she knew was one who always thought of backup plans, and to see Bakugo actually working with her was certainly surprising. But knowing who they were facing, perhaps he finally knew he couldn't simply rush in alone guns blazing. He'd certainly changed a lot from that guy she bumped into during the entrance exam nearly a year ago.
"Katara!"
Hearing her name, Katara turned to see Tenya approaching, he and the few others coming back from the medical check up. "Hey!" she said in relief as he stopped in front of her. "How are you feeling?"
Tenya gave a small sigh before smiling. "I am fine. Just disappointed I couldn't have done more."
"You shouldn't be. You did one of the best out there and that was all your own strength." She said and patted his arm before laughing. "To think you could go that fast. When did you learn that?"
Laughing, Tenya gave a shrug. "Been practicing lately. Was hoping it would impress you."
"It sure did. Good job." The sudden gasp from some of the others caught her attention, turning to see the white blur shoot across the screen. "She's there already." Both she and Tenya watched as the top ranked hero sped through the area, heading straight for Bakugo.
"Really thought the kid would've been smarter by now," Mirko scoffed as she leaped from rooftop to rooftop. "Just make a trail of explosions for me to follow, why don't you?"
After the time she spent with him, she figured the kid would be smarter than just making a sound trail for her to lock onto and target. Then again… he was the kind who thought he could take her on when they first met, so maybe she was wrong. "Maybe the little sucker is too stubborn to learn sometimes." As she listened to the sound grow closer, however, she suddenly stopped… as she heard a similar chain of explosions to the left. "Hmm?"
After a moment, another series of explosions was heard to the right, and another directly below her. "The hell?" She said as she dropped to the ground, her ear turning to the direction of the explosions. Something about it sounded off however, running around the corner until it was right there… looking down and widening her eyes in surprise. "What in the…?"
Sitting on the ground by the wall was a portable speaker, the loud explosions reverberating out of the device in a constant pattern. After a moment she couldn't help but laugh, her ears picking up more and more across the facility. "You little bastards. Using similar sounds just to throw me off." Mirko chuckled out as she stood back up, her ears twitching to the explosive sounds going off in all directions, blocking out any footsteps she could be hearing.
Clicking the next one on, Momo nodded to herself as the sounds echoed through the training grounds, thankful she could run under cover for now. "This should give us a little time at least." a sudden set of footsteps beside her made her turn in worry before she saw Bakugo land, sighing in relief and running his way. "That should cover us for now. That means we can get the next step ready."
"I will get the next step ready, you just build that shit and back me up!" He barked out, making her roll her eyes.
"I don't care if you want to run point or not," She said as her arm started glowing, "I have plans for you or me to take the lead. So I will set these up then and you can head the counter attack." the sudden beeping made her eyes widen, pulling out the small tablet she had behind her back. "Uh oh…"
"Uh oh, what?" Bakugo glared, "The hell is that thing?"
I made this to connect all the different speakers…" She said, watching as one of the blinking dots on the screen disappeared, followed by another a few seconds later. "She's taking them out one by one."
"No shit, she's not going to sit by and deal with that." He growled and punched his open palm. "I'm not going to just outlast her. I'm going to be the one to beat her!"
Crack!
Another speaker shattered under Mirko's foot, speeding down the corridor and taking out another before leaping high above the buildings. Her ears shifted like radar dishes, sifting through the many more explosions she could hear around. "Little shit's made this a pain." She hissed, before her ears picked up another blast. This one however was different than the rest, the sound too crisp and deep to be from those speakers. She smiled, knowing this one was real. "There you are, you little twerp…"
As soon as her feet touched the roof, she blasted off the top straight towards the sound, clearing several other buildings as she caught sight of Bakugo flying over a pipeline. The moment he noticed her, his eyes widened before glaring and skidding to a stop. "Ponytail, you better hurry up now!" He shouted, making Mirko laugh in amusement.
"I never figured you'd be one to use distractions like that, kid. I thought you'd be the headstrong one and charge straight at me."
"Oh yeah? Like I need that stuff to kick your ass!" he snapped back, sparking his hands out.
"Now I would really like to see that!" Mirko burst forward, cracking the roof below her as she leaped and landed on the large pipe, sprinting right at him.
"Die!" The explosion from his hands rushed right at the incoming rabbit, growling as she dodged and kicked off the parallel pipe. Jumping off and away, Bakugo shot himself through the air and blasted at her while she gave chase. Flipping and ducking her way past the blasts, Mirko launched herself in a drop kick at Bakugo, missing as he redirected himself just in time and followed it with another blast her way. She crashed through the wall besides them escaping his attack, just before breaking through another portion and kicking the blocks his way. Growling, he blew up the rocks flying at him, barely missing another before careening down to the ground. "Damn bunny!" he shouted and blew up part of the street, creating a thick smoke cloud and disappearing inside.
"How many times are you not gonna learn?" She growled, diving into the smoke and chasing the sounds of the explosions. The sudden sparking sound ahead made her cautious however, skidding to a stop and leaping out to the side just as a powerful blast engulfed the area.
"Damn it…" Bakugo hissed as he put the pin back in his gauntlet, cupping his hand in front of his open palm. "AP shot. Auto cannon!"
The machine gun-like blasts rushed at the rabbit hero, making her laugh as she ducked and weaved through all of them. Even as he continued shooting and moving backwards, she kept chase, not letting him out of her sight as they came around to a large corridor, using the open space to speed around and flank him from the side. The sound from the side made her stop, however, ducking to the side and dodging the cannon blast from the left. The explosion behind made Mirko's hair blow forward, grinning as she locked eyes with the black haired teen holding the cannon in her hands. "Making it easier instead of trying to find you. I like that!"
"She's just an extra backing me up!" Bakugo shouted and launched himself at the hero, swiping his explosions her way but still unable to hit her insane speed. While she dodged and attempted a hit on the teen, Mirko was forced to dodge another cannon shot, flipping backwards and speeding across the area evading the pair of shots coming her way. Quickly juking out a final shot, Mirko burst off the ground and launched herself at Momo, the creationist jumping off her platform before shooting a grappling hook and swinging down to the ground, rolling and and quickly forming tungsten shields as Mirko drove herself down and buckled them with a powerful kick.
'She hit's harder than Kendo, and she has Iida's speed!' Momo winced internally as she was shoved backward, quickly forming a kevlar net and throwing it at Mirko to distract her momentarily as Bakugo attacked from the back. Even as both launched different styles of attacks, wether it was another explosion or even shuriken stars, Mirko continued keeping her eyes and ears alert to avoid whatever came her way. 'Izuku… I hope you guys can figure something out like us!'
Pulling out from her waist belt, Momo pressed the button on the remote she was holding, quickly covering her ears as hard as she could.
Before Mirko could even react, she was rocked by a high pitched screech that caused her entire body to lock up. She screamed out as she clutched at her ears, her shaky legs actually giving out and dropping to her knees. "GAH!" she gasped, barely able to turn her head to see the multitude of intercoms placed along the walls in all directions, causing the entire area to be a boxed sound prison for her. "You little bastards!"
Bakugo hissed from the sound as well, shaking his head from the ear piercing cry coming from the intercoms, although he knew Mirko's incredible hearing was fairing far worse than he was. Fighting through the pain, he sparked his hands up and launched himself at Mirko once more. Seeing him come her way, She forced herself up and jumped back away from his blasts, struggling to focus on his attacks while her head was pulsing so painfully.
"Keep it up!" Momo shouted over the crushing frequency, forcing herself to create another kevlar net and connected it to a grappling gun, shooting it in the air and above the hero. Mirko barely reacted enough to jump out of the way of it, only to be right in Bakugo's path and take a blast to the side making her stumble. "Don't stop!" Momo shouted again, forming earmuffs and covering her own before forming a chain and launching it and hooking round the hero's leg and staking it to the ground.
"Damn it!" Mirko growled and pulled at the chain before having ro roll away from Bakugo's continuous blasts, her ears pulsing in agony before blasting off the ground and snapping the chain, slamming into the wall causing the area to shake and covered in dust.
"You aren't getting away from this!" Bakugo shouted and blasted after the hero, spinning himself and creating a smoke tornado. "Howitzer impact!"
The massive explosion engulfed the entire area, causing Momo to stumble backward and cover herself with another steel shield. After a few moments, the smoke began clearing and allowing her to see, her eyes widening when she saw Bakugo propped against the wall and no Mirko insight. "What? Where did she-
BOOM!
The impact caused the entire wall where Bakugo was to collapse, the teen having to fly out of the way as it all came down. "Shit!" Bakugo cursed out as he blasted away the rubble falling his way, flipping and skidding to a stop as he saw the entire side of the building gone. "She broke her way through it to get away from the sound, damn it…."
Suddenly, the wall to the right broke as well, followed by the one behind until nearly all the walls around them began crumbling and collapsing from the powerful strikes. Both teens kept their guard up, looking around as the loud crashing and falling down to the floor. After several moments, the dust and the loud crashing of the stones and concrete finally settled down, leaving the area calm and quiet for them, causing both of their eyes to widen in worry.
It was quiet.
Momo's mouth fell open as she saw the crushed intercom to the side, smashed beneath some of the fallen concrete. "Oh shit…" turning to the panting heard behind, feeling her heart rate rise slightly to the angry looking woman staring their way.
"Finally…" Mirko growled out, small scorch marks on her side and several lines of blood dripping down out of her ears. "I felt like my head was going to burst for a minute there…"
"Then let me finish that off for you!" Bakugo shouted and put both hands together and focused his palms, unleashing a powerful blast that encircled the entire area in front of both of them. Through the smoke above Mirko burst out and launched herself at the teens, both rolling out of the way as she crashed and shattered the ground they were at. Momo once again threw multiple shurikens at the rabbit hero, only for her eyes to widen as Mirko's foot came up, the steel end of her foot kicking away every single one before catching two and launching them back at her. Momo quickly fell to the ground dodging the items, turning in worry as Mirko was ready to charge at her.
"AP shot!"
The concentrated blast cut through the ground chasing Mirko as she flipped her way through the area, blasting herself through the air and ending up behind the shocked Bakugo
Before he could even turn around, he gasped as she grabbed him and threw him in the air, jumping after him and bringing her foot above her head. Even with blocking, her foot shattered both gauntlets and launched him back to the ground, smashing into the flooring in a powerful impact.
"Bakugo!" Momo yelled, having to focus on herself and form more tungsten shields to block the kicks coming her way. As she jumped back, she brought out the pair of flash bangs she had tucked away and threw them forward, but Mirko's speed kicked both of them high into the air and made them detonate safely out of range. Even creating a steel pole and swinging it, Momo's eyes widened as it was blocked by Mirko's raised leg, the impact itself making her arms shake.
"RAH!" Bakugo exploded out of the crater he was in, launching himself at the hero and found himself above her. "I'm not done here!" The explosion sent Momo back before catching herself on a large chunk of stone. Before she could yell at him for his reckless action, his eyes widened when he noticed Mirko was gone just before he saw movement behind his partner. "Behind you!" He shouted and blasted himself forward, pushing Momo out of the way while trying to aim his other hand forward to strike. Before he could even get a blast off, however, a powerful wheel kick whipped by and slammed into his hand, causing something inside his palm to crack. He couldn't even gasp from that pain as in her momentum, Mirko spun again and slammed her foot into his side launching him into the pile of rubble.
Momo almost called out in worry for her partner, only to gasp as Mirko spun and brought her foot above once more. Reacting on instinct, she formed a steel helmet to protect herself. Before she struck, however, Mirko purposely missed and spun around, driving her foot directly into Momo's stomach causing her to gasp out in agony and collapse to the ground. "One down…" Mirko muttered, turning to the crumbling rocks behind her. "One to go."
Bakugo spit out the blood from his mouth, growling and pulling off the broken chunks of gauntlet from his hands and stared down his work studies mentor. "Don't think I'm down yet…" he hissed out.
"I know you aren't. That's why I chose you back then," Mirko sighed out. "That also means you know I don't play favorites with you or anyone else."
"I wouldn't want it even if you did!" Bakugo yelled and blasted forward, his scorching hand missing and blowing away the boulder behind her. Taking chase, he rocketed after the jumping rabbit. "I won't be second to anyone!" Spinning her body out of the way, Mirko went to land a kick to the teens side before he redirected himself over her leg. She turned and hooked underneath his arms from behind and careened him towards the ground, making him growl and aim his arms out. "Get off me!"
The blasts from his palms threw her momentum in her dive off, making Mirko release him and dodge another powerful blast by kicking his hand upward before driving into his chest. Despite coughing out from the pain and being thrown backwards, Bakugo roared our and blasted forward once more, forcing both hands forward and unleashing a powerful blast engulfing the pro hero. His arms already began straining from the output but prepared another, his veins contracting and holding them up again. "Die!"
Through the smoke a pair of hands shot out and gripped both of Bakugo's wrists, forcing them up and unleashing the powerful blasts up into the sky again. He winced as the smoky form of Mirko grinning his way, squeezing his wrists and pulling him close. "Glad you never disappointed me, kid. Keep up the practice."
Bakugo couldn't say anything in response before her knee drove into his stomach, causing his entire body to buckle over in agony before he felt his mind go blank, losing consciousness and carried to the ground by Mirko.
Team 13: Seven minutes and forty one seconds
Everyone standing in the audience watching the battle felt their throats tighten, seeing two of the final teams already taken out. These were considered the top teams and they still weren't able to last up to eight minutes with Mirko. Now, only a single pair left, the two of them feeling eyes on them but didn't even look at the others.
Izuku gritted his teeth seeing Momo coughing and crawling up from the ground, although held back being mad knowing Mirko didn't try to actually hurt her. More than that, however, he and many others had been surprised to see Bakugo's act of pushing Momo out of the way, showing that even the loudmouthed teen did actually care for protecting his teammates. But even someone as strong as Bakugo couldn't hold up long against someone like Mirko, knowing this was going to be perhaps one of the biggest challenges they dealt with.
Taking a breath, he looked over to Katara, the two of them both knowing they had quite the pressure of being the final team left. "Well, it seems we are the ones up next." Katara said, earning a nod from Izuku.
"Yeah…" He cracked his knuckles and turned back to the screen, seeing the two teens on the monitor carried away. "That was extremely close what they did with the sound devices. If only we could make something like that."
Laughing slightly, Katara looked down to her gauntlets. "Yeah, definitely not." she looked back to the screen, tilting her head when she noticed Mirko shaking her head several times. "She's still injured?"
"Huh?" Izuku looked as well, noticing the multiple burns and scuffs from Shoto and Bakugo's attacks. While those weren't too damaging, he took note of the blood dripping down her face, the damage to her ears still lingering. "Her hearing is probably still compromised from those devices."
Katara's mouth hung open in surprise, watching Mirko sigh out before shifting her jaw and stretching her inner ears. "She hasn't had a break after all these matches, and is supposed to fight us now." For some reason, Katara just felt this wasn't… wasn't right. She looked over to her assigned partner, immediately sensing he was feeling the same thing. "We are supposed to be pushed to test how well we do, right?"
He gave a small nod. "Yeah. everyone else faced her with no problems… except us." he answered.
Many would've considered what they both came to as idiotic, as not taking an opportunity to do better. But they felt it was wrong, neither even having to say anything as they both walked toward Aizawa and the other teachers. He raised his brow in surprise as they approached. "The entrance is the other direction in case you didn't notice." he muttered.
"I know sir, but… we have a request to ask of you." Izuku said.
Toshinori tilted his head in confusion. "Is there a problem?"
Katara took a breath and nodded. "You made this test for us to be pushed to our limits, to see how well we do against someone more powerful, right? and yet we are going into this battle uninjured."
At first Aizawa and the others were confused by what she was referring to, only for his eyes to widen in surprise. "Wait… you mean to…?"
Katara and Izuku looked at one another and nodded, the waterbender turning back to their teacher. "Before we start, we think Mirko should heal back to full power."
