Fun in the Daycare

Disclaimer: I don't own any of the Security Breach characters. They belong to Scott Cawthon and Steel Wool.
Full Summary: This story occurs in an alternate turn of events in Security Breach when Gregory and Glamrock Freddy decide to stay at the Pizzaplex and look for clues; however Gregory decides to head back to the Daycare to amend his mistake with the Daycare Attendant Sun/Moon. Will they be able to forgive him for what he had done to them?
A/N: In this AU of the story, I am going experiment with the Pacifist Route where Gregory doesn't hurt any of the Animatronics to get the parts needed for Freddy. He instead uses various parts from the scrapped S.T.A.F.F. Bots for one of the voice boxes, the parts to upgrade the eyes and the claws. The arcade games that the Animatronics are associated with have been touched by the magic of the Princess Quest games so if Gregory chose to free the other Animatronics from Vanny's virus, he can. He has already done Sun/Moon's game before the events of the story. One more thing, you are free to suggest any fun activities that Sun/Moon, Gregory and Freddy will do in the story in the reviews. For example the sleepover Sun was promised and the fizzy faz drinks.
Chapter 1- The Apology
"Oh great… That rule breaker is trying to sneak back into the Daycare again!" Sun fumes in annoyance to himself. He was just finishing some touchups to cleaning up the ball-pit when he saw a glimpse of the boy staring from above the second floor and going near the slide. Why doesn't the boy just take the hint that Sun is not interested in his menacing behavior at the Daycare? Then again, does that boy seriously have a death wish in wanting to go up against Moon, the dark side of him who shares the same body?
It wasn't the first time he had to try to warn the boy away from the Daycare by banning him after the whole 'Lights On' incident. Multiple times Sun had to climb up that twisty slide to keep the boy named Gregory from coming back in by yelling for security to come get him and then slide back down into the ball-pit. It wasn't easy to try to protect the boy from getting hurt by Moon, and it wasn't easy to try to convince Moon to stay away from chasing after him in the Pizzaplex when the lights go out for an hour. But what was Sun to do when his soul purpose was to watch over the Daycare and take care of any child who crosses his path whether naughty or nice?
He did try his best to protect his new friend and introduce some new things to him like glitter glue and offered to do a slumber party. But as soon as he saw Gregory go to the security desk (Sun learned his name from Moon while he was patrolling the Pizzaplex), he knew that the boy would be in huge trouble. He just didn't want another incident to happen again like that one time with the traumatized child who couldn't sleep at night because of Moon.
Once more, Sun begins crawling through the ball-pit toward the slide and ascends upward to block Gregory's entry, yelling, "Security Alert! Secur-Ack!" He briefly got interrupted when something small hit him in the face and made him lose his grip on the edges of the slide, making him fall back down into the ball-pit for five seconds until he grabs the item from his face and climbs back up to finish his sentence. "Security Alert! Woo! Woo! Woo!" He stops his siren call as he takes a look at the item in his right hand. It was a Security Badge.
Sun looks up in the slide and sees Gregory looking down at him with a guilty expression on his face. He was crouched down in the slide and holds his left hand on the top edge. Glamrock Freddy was waiting patiently behind him in the distance, crossing his arms. For roughly ten seconds Sun didn't speak until he asks Gregory quietly. "Why would you throw this badge at me rule-breaker?"
Gregory responds, giving him an explanation. "When the lights went out in the Daycare, I was told by Freddy to take the Security Badge to move around the Mega Pizzaplex. I want to give it back to you Sun." Sun didn't answer as he tries to process the reason behind it even with the explanation he got. Why would the boy give something like this back to him when he had no purpose for it? That badge was usually for the staff workers.
With Sun not responding, Gregory sighs in a tired tone. "Look! If I had known that badge would be the cause to break your trust, I would have tried to find another way to stay on your good side! I… admit Sun that I am not good with trusting other people, other than Freddy. I never had anyone who would care about me enough to try to warn me away from danger. For most of my life I had to fend for myself." Gregory looks away for a moment as he confesses. "I am a 'naughty boy' as how Moon puts it, because to tell you the truth, I never had anyone tell me what to do, how to approach things differently, or on how to get along with other people… I only wanted to go home after being stuck in this big building by mistake. But I am lying to myself and to Freddy that I have a home to go back to… I am an orphan…The only other place I felt at home with besides Freddy was you Sun and I was an idiot to break your one rule."
'Well that certainly explains his behavior', Sun thinks and relaxes his stance in the slide as he listens closely to analyze Gregory's story in detail. He did feel a little bit saddened and shocked at the reveal of the boy being an orphan, he noticed that Freddy was surprised at this realization too but chooses not to say anything and interrupt Gregory's confession.
Gregory looks back to Sun, almost like his brown eyes were begging the attendant to show some mercy. "You don't have to forgive me Sun and you are free to push me away and keep me banned from the Daycare, or you can happily send Moon to punish me if you choose. The reason why I distracted you back then was because I was afraid if the dancing rabbit lady was going to try to find me in the Daycare and kill me…I'm sorry." Sun didn't expect this confession out of his new friend, making him raise one eye in surprise.
Dancing rabbit lady? As far as he knew there was no such thing as a rabbit lady in the Pizzaplex. There was only Bonnie until he got decommissioned. Even though he wants to dismiss whatever Gregory said as a made up story to excuse his actions, he couldn't help but feel that he doesn't want to make things worse for the boy. Dealing with Moon and being lost and alone in the Pizzaplex was bad enough! He wanted to give the kid a break. But to add that he is really alone with no family to look after him, it made Sun feel like he needs to do whatever he can to help the boy. Should he even contact the authorities about an orphan boy who needs a home? He and Moon can't keep him in the Daycare forever and it is 6:05 A.M. so shouldn't the boy be heading on out when he had the chance? Instead he decides after running away from Moon to come back to the Daycare and personally apologize to him.
But then again, the Pizzaplex will be closed for a few more days for repairs, so it shouldn't hurt to bring the boy back into the daycare and keep him company right?
Sun decided to himself in his thoughts that Gregory may have trespassed in the building without permission and eluded Moon on an hourly occasion in the mall, but the boy wanted to do something right and take the punishment for what he had done. He may be a little menace but he has a brave heart to take on any challenge.
Without talking, Sun crawls down from the slide, but then his hand reaches out to Gregory gesturing for him while calling over to Freddy from inside the slide. "Go around to the Daycare door Freddy and I will let you in once I get our new friend comfortable."
"You mean… You forgive me Sun? I am unbanned?" Gregory asks letting out a sigh of relief while Freddy nods his head at Sun's command.
"Don't get too comfortable with being unbanned Gregory! If you dare to turn the lights off again without my permission, I will retract my opportunity to have you back under my watch!" Sun warns with a smile on his face all the while wagging his finger at the boy. "And besides, you owe me a SLUMBER PARTY! You owe me finger paint, telling me stories, and drinking fizzy-faz until our heads EXPLODE and stay up all night! Oh- and just so you know new friend, the security badge is not in control of turning the lights off. I apologize for presuming you had anything to do with the lights." Gregory accepted Sun's apology and understanding the rules this time, proceeds to follow him down the slide, landing right in the ball-pit as Sun jumps out to the play area and open the big brown wooden door so that Freddy can get in.
Once everyone was in the play area, Sun gestures for Gregory to take a seat on the floor and asks which one of the activities they should do first. Gregory went for the option of playing tag first with all of them running around the play area. Next up was hide-and-seek with Freddy and Sun. It took only a minute for Sun to find Freddy under the security desk but it took about fifteen minutes to find where Gregory was hiding in the Daycare, right in the ball-pit.
Taking a break from playing around for a few minutes, Gregory thought about asking Sun a question. "Hey Sun, since you have forgiven me for the 'Lights On' incident, does this mean Moon will stop trying to punish me?" As far as the boy knew between the two attendants, he knows that Sun would never hurt him. Moon, the other personality inside of the animatronic, was another story.
Gregory still felt a little uneasy and had uncomfortable feelings when Moon is involved. Having to try to escape from the nighttime attendant numerous times in the Pizzaplex set him on edge. There was no other Animatronic who made Gregory quiver in fright, besides the serial killer Vanny, who hunts him down with nothing to stop him. To make things more nerve-wracking Moon seems to be immune to the faz-blaster and the faz-cam, which would stun the other Animatronics. Excluding DJ Music-Man, Moon is pretty smart to avoid getting damaged.
Sun answers Gregory with a laugh, pulling the boy away from his thoughts by patting him on the head. "You don't have to worry about that Gregory!" Gregory wasn't convinced that Sun was trying to make him feel better about Moon or not.
"But you acted really hurt when the lights went out and Moon told me I had to be punished for it." Gregory points out, remembering the desperation from Sun the first time they met and how menacing Moon was in his first encounter.
Sun chuckles with a wave of his hand. "It only hurts when we resist it. Moony only says 'you must be punished' when there are naughty children who don't want to sleep. He only wanted to put you to bed. As for what kind of punishment, he only goes as far as no story time." Sun's smile turned to a frown when he mentions, "A child up past his bedtime hours shouldn't be up as late as you are. May I ask how long has it been since you took a nap?"
"Four or five days out in the streets." Gregory says, unimpressed with the question. His eyes narrow as if he was ready to sleep but trying to not miss out on anything.
"Four or five days?!" Sun covers his mouth in surprise. "Moon would restrain you in the bed and not let you come out except for bathroom breaks if he finds out!"
In Sun's head he could hear Moon chiming in with his response, but Freddy and Gregory have yet to learn that Sun can communicate with Moon in his head. "I already did Sunny." Sun quickly tried to protest in his head for Moon to be gentle with the boy once nap time comes around the corner.
"I'm not sleepy anyway." Gregory said, trying to hide a yawn in the process by covering his mouth. Sun thought it was typical but he found a new determination to get that boy to rest after all he has been through.
Perhaps his best course of action would be to tire him out. Sun made Freddy and Gregory draw pictures of the Daycare in order to create a map for ten minutes and had them go on a scavenger hunt. The item they needed to find was a present with a toy collectable of Freddy himself waiting for whoever found it. Freddy stayed near the play area and the security desk while Gregory searched out the present in areas Freddy couldn't reach like the castle towers or on top of the playground, despite Sun telling him that he didn't hide the present there.
Twenty minutes later, Freddy found the present hidden underneath the three toy towers. He attempts to communicate to Gregory through the faz-watch and tell him to come over and look at the present, but he accidentally received a response from Gregory to report to one of the castle towers. Freddy climbs to the top of the tower from the outside to find Gregory fast asleep on the floor. The boy was resting on his left side, legs and arms crouched in a ball position, breathing lightly.
Freddy messaged Sun quietly and states. "Uh Sun, Gregory has fallen asleep. What would you want me to do?"
Sun chuckles to himself at the message, "Just bring him back to the play area. I will get him a pillow and a blanket for his nap." It didn't surprise him to know that after running around the building in the late hours will eventually catch up to Gregory in the long run. Sometimes that happened with the kids at the Daycare who wanted to play but didn't want to sleep. Sun takes his zip-line string down to his level and brings him up to his little entrance door to his room to find the pillow and blanket. Once found he quickly dives back down into the ball-pit without a scratch and jumps back to the play area with his items on hand.
"Sun, how do you jump in the ball-pit without breaking your endo spine from the fall?" Freddy asks curiously as he was trying to process how Sun did that trick while holding a sleepy Gregory in his arms.
"Don't ask me Freddy. I don't even know how I get around it." Sun answers honestly to his new friend while laying out the blanket and pillow.
Freddy crouches to lay Gregory's head on the pillow while Sun brings the blanket up over him. "I guess Gregory got tired from running all the way back to the Daycare after finding the exit to the mall. He wouldn't admit it though. He wanted to do one thing before searching for clues in the Pizzaplex and it was to apologize to you and Moon for what he did to get the Security Badge." Freddy confesses.
"I'm glad he did Freddy. Even though I was a bit harsh with him, I really wasn't too upset with him. I only wanted to teach him a lesson on following the rules." Sun explains to Freddy as he returns the security badge back to its rightful place on the security desk. "You can stay here if you wish to watch Gregory or you can leave him to me while you go recharge." Freddy decides to stay for a little bit, just to make sure Gregory will be safe once Moon comes out in the Daycare.
Speaking of Moon, Sun tiptoes over to a switch and his hand lingers over it. He knows that once he makes the Daycare go dark, switching out the sun for the moon, he won't be able to protect Gregory or Freddy when the lights are out. He doesn't know if Moon will be kind to them or not, but he knows that Freddy and Gregory can run away and fight if they chose to. "Good luck in staying asleep Gregory…" Without further ado, he presses the switch, causing the lights to go out. He hopes if Gregory stays asleep that Moon will not lay a hand on him.
Sun began to slowly transform; from the bright yellow of his body to a pale white with blue coloring covering his arms. His sun rays mechanically retract inside of his head. His yellow and red striped pants faded in the dark and changed to blue with stars. A nightcap popped onto his head as the left side of his face faded from yellow to black, the right side from a pale yellow to white in the shape of a crescent moon.
Moon looks left and right as if studying where he is until his red eyes lock onto Gregory amid the shadows of the Daycare. He doesn't know how the boy got back into the Daycare but he immediately figured out to himself that Sun must have done something to allow him to return. "Naughty boy must be punished!" He whispers to himself and smiles. He tiptoes over to Freddy and the boy, seeing very small movement from the bear as he watches the nighttime attendant with half open eyes creeping over to them. It is almost as if the bear will try to shield Gregory from Moon if he dares to seek harm.
Freddy hasn't forgotten how devious Moon can be when he wants to, but he knows that while Moon is built to be Sun's counterpart for naptime in the Daycare he also has another job as a security bot to restrain burglars and kidnappers in the mall. And unfortunately, while Gregory doesn't have a guest list in the Daycare, he is considered an intruder.
Not to mention the stories Gregory told him about the times he had to escape from Moon in the mall. One of them when Gregory was hiding behind a curtain, he looked away for one moment to hide from one of the staff bots, but then in the next second Moon was peeking behind the curtain just staring at him, beckoning him with his hand to come with him and go to bed before vanishing behind the curtain. When Freddy was out of power trying to reach the recharge station with Gregory he collapsed on the ground while Gregory got in, noticing that Moon was coming to pull the bear away to the Parts/Service, he saw Moon stop to wave at Gregory before resuming his work. Freddy wondered to himself why Moon wanted to take care of him first when he could have gone after Gregory. But more importantly, why didn't Moon tell Officer Vanessa where Gregory was hiding? Perhaps Moon was led to believe that Gregory was resting or sleeping in the recharge station like how he wants the boy to do, so he decided not to tell Officer Vanessa about his whereabouts yet.
Was Moon really as threatening as Gregory and Freddy thought? Or was Gregory just misunderstanding him based on that one story about the traumatized kid?
Moon twisted his head in a full 360 degree circle as he notices Gregory is asleep on the floor. Upon seeing the naughty boy finally doing what he expected him to do, Moon decides to sit down feeling oddly content at the sight rather than a need to punish the child. He noticed Freddy was staring at him as he cocks his head to the side and twists it in a full turn to the right in a circle. Freddy decides to confess to Moon in a whisper. "Hey Moon! Sun allowed us passage to come in the Daycare. A-And don't worry about Gregory! He is asleep now and he won't cause any trouble for you!"
Moon narrows his right eye in suspicion as he slowly asks quietly. "In the past he has never once rested when I asked him to, so why does the child sleep now?" Before Freddy could respond quickly to try to make Moon relax and leave Gregory be, Moon raises a hand to keep Freddy quiet, "I want the kids answer, not yours Fazbear."
Gregory stirs in his sleep a bit and peeks with one eye open to Moon. "I just want to make amends with you and Sun, Moon. I'm sorry for not listening to you the first time but I was afraid you were on Vanny's side and that you wanted to kill me."
Moon sharply turns his gaze to Gregory, which made the boy tense up in fear. Those glowing red eyes don't look at all comforting. "Since when do I actually side with a villain on killing a child? That was just a glitch in my system! It got fixed when you played that arcade game in our room. I don't feel the glitches presence on me anymore." Gregory briefly remembers playing that arcade game in Sun's room when he discovered it by accident. He played it for a few minutes before he decided he better get out of the room before Sun would see him and ban him again from the Daycare. Freddy was curious and thinking if the Princess Quest arcade games had anything to do with spreading its magic to other arcades. If Sun and Moon could be set free from the virus infecting them maybe that would work for his friends too?
"What? You didn't think I can be fun anymore? You all must be… Luna-tics." Moon chuckles a bit at his own joke that Gregory doesn't understand yet. Upon seeing that the boy wasn't convinced that he was free from the virus, Moon quirks his eyes a bit in mischief, which made Sun speak through the speaker. "Moony… Don't you dare!" He sounded like he was warning his other half.
"Uh Freddy? Can you explain what Sun is warning Moon about?" Gregory asks Freddy in a whisper, unsure of what's going on as he sees Moon smiling slyly.
Freddy answers back in a whisper. "He means Moon is going to do one of his jokes." He could sometimes overhear him joking around with the S.T.A.F.F. bots, albeit only from a great distance beyond his room when he is out patrolling the mall. He would only catch a little bit of the joke here and there but not the full experience.
"Oh Gregory…" Moon calls to Gregory with a singsong voice, creeping around the boy by walking around him and the bear. "How do you make a trip around the sun?" He stops right in front of the boy as he jumps from one foot to the other before responding. "You… PLAN-ET!"
Gregory didn't know what to make of the joke, blinking his eyes in confusion. That was until he heard Sun trying to contain his laughter from the speaker. Apart from Sun, Freddy understood the joke though and burst out laughing, and since laughter itself is contagious it managed to make Gregory laugh nervously with him. "Gotcha!" Moon smirks while cocking his head to the side. "It's good to see you laugh Gregory." He sits down next to the boy and rubs his head. "And… I'm so sorry… for making you scared of me."
Gregory, not usually one to get close to someone other than Freddy, slowly raises his left hand up to grab Moon's hand resting on his head. "Even if you were hacked, you still were trying to do your job. And I'm sorry too that we had a… rocky start. It was all Vanny's fault!"
"But I still am more feared than Sun…" Moon tries to contradict but Gregory and Freddy shake their heads.
"We can put you back together the way you are meant to be Moon. Gregory could have left me in Parts/Services and run for freedom if he chose to, but he stayed to fix me with parts from the S.T.A.F.F. bots." Freddy said as he places his right hand on Moon's shoulder.
"I can even make sure that you are not hacked again!" Gregory said as he jumps out from the blanket and embraces Moon.
Moon relaxes his stance the moment Gregory hugged him and moves his right hand to pet the boy on the head. "You're not such a naughty boy after all!" He chuckled as he was embraced by the duo; Freddy on the left and Gregory on the right. "But… It is still past your bedtime." That earn a mild groan from the boy but he and the bear did what they were told and took their nap.
A/N: Hope you enjoyed the first chapter!
