A/N: I'm taking a break this week, so there won't be a new chapter. To make up for it, I'm posting the Megumin bonus chapter for those who haven't read it yet. For those who have read the Megumin story already, I thank you for taking the time to do that, and Iask for your patience as I take this short break. Thank you for understanding!
An Explosion on this IRL Dungeon!
Part 1
I looked at the floating door outside of my school.
Hm. That's a bit peculiar, isn't it?
I had these thoughts as I observed that my schoolmates were ignoring the door hovering in front of them. One even went through the door as if it were a mere projection.
Just to make sure, I went over to the door and touched it.
…I'm the only one who can see this.
It wouldn't be strange to call this a supernatural event.
"...Is this related to the dungeon somehow?"
I lavishly chuckled to myself while reaching for the door knob.
When I went inside, I saw a purple room with a woman sitting on an ornate chair inside.
She was a woman with red hair and pointed ears. What's more, she had horns sticking out of her head.
Was she a demon?
Either way, I thought that she looked cool.
Then, my eyes went down and I saw her chest.
"..."
What big breasts.
The woman looked at me up and down before speaking in a voice that resonated within the walls of the room.
"Welcome to my realm. I am the dark goddess of sloth and destruction… Wolbach."
"...If I stay in this realm, can I become like you?"
I said, my eyes never leaving those cow-like breasts.
She followed my gaze.
"...What are you looking at?"
"So, Wolbach-sama… By inviting me to this realm, I assume that this is related to that dungeon I discovered with Yunyun, yes?"
I changed the subject.
"Indeed… As soon as you discovered the dungeon, you've awakened a special power."
"[Dark Specter]! [Evil Eye Beam]! [Banishment This World]!"
"...What are you doing?"
I started yelling out attack names while posing.
"That's strange… How come my power isn't manifesting?"
"Is that what you were trying to do? Well, you need to download the app first."
"...Is this some kind of scam?"
Something like 'download the app now and give all your credit card information!'.
"It's not a scam! Just hurry up and download the app."
"If you meant the app that shows my stats, I already downloaded it before."
"Good. Now, drink this potion."
She handed me a vial with a glowing liquid inside.
"I realize that you're wary about drinking something from a stranger, but…"
"Thanks for the meal."
"You drank it…"
She stared at me as I chugged down the vial without hesitation.
"Even though you were suspicious about the app, you drank it right away?"
"I have a good constitution, so I can survive drinking suspicious liquids, but there's no way I'm gonna risk my phone getting some virus."
"Your priorities are messed up! Anyway… I had you drink a potion that gives experience points. It's a rare item and I only have one of them, so be grateful."
"Thank you very much, Wolbach-sama."
"You should have enough experience points to level up now. You should also be able to unlock a class."
"Ah… I already unlocked a class before…"
"Wait, so I just gave you a rare item for no reason?"
"Thank you very much."
Her eyebrow twitched. Was she getting annoyed at me?
"Well… Let me see which class you took and what other classes you had available."
I nodded and showed her my phone.
"It says here that you qualify for the Arch-Wizard, Wizard, Monk, Fighter and Adventurer… Wait, what's this class? Chuunibyou?"
"Please ignore that last one."
I almost deleted the app when I first saw that.
"Hmm… I'm surprised that you qualify for the Fighter and Monk class, considering your physical build. No, more surprisingly, to think you're talented enough to unlock Arch-Wizard right away…"
"Is that a special class?"
"Yes, it is an advanced spellcasting class. You made an excellent choice."
I nodded and held my hand out.
"[Black Tempest]!"
"Hold on. You don't know any spells yet."
Another one of my attempts to awaken my potential failed.
She held out her hand and a book appeared in front of it.
"Here. This is a list of abilities and spells that I can transfer to you. Just keep in mind that it's limited to my own abilities. You can only choose one."
I accepted the book and looked through it.
There were things like [Summoning, [Teleportation, [Advanced Magic]...
But one spell caught my attention.
"Hm? Explosion magic… What's that? It sounds cool."
"Ah… It's the most powerful attack spell when it comes to raw damage, but there are a lot of negatives, so I can't recommend it for a mortal like you."
"Alright, I choose explosion."
"...Let me finish! Wait, did you actually choose it?!"
She grabbed the book from me, narrowing her eyes as she saw what I chose.
"Hah… You're an impulsive one… Well, maybe we can make it work."
She muttered doubtfully to herself.
"So, what kind of tasks do you have for me, Wolbach-sama? This is how this kind of development usually goes, right?"
"...Your task for now is to gain levels in the dungeon. Well, you probably can't do that with explosion magic, or you'll die. I suggest following the quests on your phone, and to find a party as soon as possible."
"Understood, mistress."
"Don't call me that."
It had always been a fantasy of mine to become a powerful mage in a hero's party, in a quest to slay the dark lord.
Of course, I never once believed that such a fantasy would come true. I was a realist, at the end of the day.
But now, there was a chance to do exactly that.
"...I am Megumin! The number one genius Arch-Wizard who is the wielder of explosion! Today marks the start of my legendary journey!"
In response, Wolbach-sama only gave me a doubtful look.
Was she perhaps regretting choosing me as her follower?
You learned a new skill!
[Explosion] Skill Rank: 1, Active skill (90 mp)
Unleash a powerful explosion. At rank 1, has a 20 ft. radius of attack and deals 50 fire damage plus your magic power modifier (8). The attack can't miss as long as enemies are within the area of effect, however, magical defense still applies.
"By the way, Wolbach-sama, is there a place for me to test my explosion magic?"
She thought about it, before saying."
"Humu. There's a place I have a teleportation mark of in your world. I can quickly teleport you there."
"That will do."
"...You're awfully bossy for a human."
Even if she sounded annoyed, she stood up and put her hand on my shoulder.
Suddenly, we were in an open field.
"Hmm… Is that an onsen?"
I said, recognizing a rather famous onsen some distance away."
Wolbach-sama nodded as she took her hand away from my shoulder.
"Yeah. I go there sometimes to relax. But I teleported us some distance away from it, so you can launch your explosion here."
"Won't that scare away the customers?"
"The less visitors there are, the better for me. Men always ogle me in the mixed bath, after all…"
I looked pointedly at her horns and pointy ears. She scoffed at that.
"I can hide these features of mine at will. I'm sure they're staring for other reasons…"
"Indeed."
I said, staring at her large breasts.
"Oi. Don't you stare now, too."
"My bad, I guess."
I gave a half-sincere apology. Someone blessed with that kinda body has no right to complain about being stared at. Rather, wasn't that a good thing? The grass is always greener, I guess.
More importantly…
I faced the open field.
After learning the spell, the procedure on how to cast it was imprinted in my mind.
Then…
"Explosion…!"
Ah…
A violent plume of hellfire sprouted out from the spot I designated. It propagated into a fiery sphere, the shockwaves of which made me fall over.
No, rather, I felt like I couldn't move my body anymore.
"That's mana exhaustion. You won't be able to move for a while."
"...It's wonderful."
The release of mana, the explosive shockwaves, the heat tingling my skin.
I was still a virgin, but at that moment, I thought,
This is probably better than sex.
You established a bond with Wolbach!
Wolbach (Goddess of Destruction and Sloth), Rank: 1
At rank 1, Wolbach sees you as an underling with high potential… but questionable common sense. Still, she thinks you might be useful for her nefarious mission. Keep doing her bidding to deepen your bond with her.
Part 2
"Oi, Yunyun."
I said, calling out to the girl who always followed me around.
It was lunchtime at school, which meant that it was time for me to extort some food from Yunyun.
"U-Um, Megumi, I appreciate the nickname, but I'd prefer if you called me by my real name, Yuna…"
"Megumi? Who's that? It sounds like a plain name that a normal girl would have."
"Normal girl… But you're a normal girl, Megumi…"
"Hah? Even though we discovered that dungeon? Even though I met a dark goddess? Even though I now learned explosion magic from said goddess?!"
Yunyun tilted her head.
"Ah, so you met a goddess as well? I met one named Eris-sama."
"Did she give you any special powers?"
"No… In fact, she told me to retrieve these special items from other people who can enter the dungeon… Ah, but there's no way I can do that!"
"Sounds like a lame goddess."
"Ehh? She seemed pretty nice, though."
I gave her a sympathetic look.
"Poor Yunyun. You met a lame goddess and didn't get a special power. Meanwhile, the dark goddess of sloth and destruction granted the unstoppable explosion magic to me, Megumin!"
Yunyun noticed the stares we were getting in the class and tried to shush me.
"Shh! Shh! Megumi, please keep your voice down! The others will think we're strange girls!"
"Who cares what those peasants think! By the way, please wear these from now on, Yunyun."
"I-I asked you to call me Yuna… Um, what are these?"
She looked at the red contact lenses I gave her.
"This is the beginning of our transformation! From this day forward, we are no longer ordinary humans… We are Crimson Demons!"
"Um… What's that…?"
"Crimson Demons are magical beings who wield earth-shattering magic power! They have red eyes that glow when they are hyped up… Hurry and put those on already."
"N-Not in school! This is so embarrassing…"
While Yunyun was putting the lenses on… I mean, while she was undergoing her Crimson Demon transformation… A busty girl wearing an eyepatch walked up to us.
"Oh? Megumi, it seems like you're up to something fun."
Yunyun looked up at our classmate while one of her eyes was transformed.
"Ah… Arina-san. Um, you see, Megumi is…"
"It's not Megumi. It's Megumin! And Arina… If you want to transform into a Crimson Demon as well, then you must declare your allegiance."
"Humu. Well, I like these kinds of settings, anyway. And maybe it will give me good ideas for my new novel. Very well, I shall join."
"Good choice! Let's see… Your new name shall be Arue!"
"Arue, huh? I like it."
That gave me a good idea.
"By the way, Arue, come with us after school."
Yunyun managed to put the lenses on… I mean, undergo a full transformation. She looked up when I invited Arue.
"D-Does that mean we're gonna hang out with Arina-san after school?! Wahh… It's always been my dream to hangout with friends after school!"
"Stop calling her that! Her name is Arue now! And no, I intend to show her to the dungeon…"
"The dungeon… huh? It seems the rumors about Megumi and Yuna is true…"
I didn't like what Arue was insinuating.
"...What are these rumors?"
Instead of Arue, two more of our classmates came by with smug smirks on their faces to explain what these rumors were.
"Heh… The rumors are that you two are secretly dating…"
"Yeah, everyone is talking about how Yuna and Megumin are totally Yuri Yuri!"
I gave them an unamused stare, before glancing away.
"I don't have time for the musings of background characters. Go away, Funifura and Dodonko."
"What'd you call us?!"
"...What's with those nicknames?"
Meanwhile, Yunyun was all smiles.
"W-Wow… So many people are talking to us today, Megumi!"
We were getting teased, but she saw it as a positive.
Part 3
After school, I headed to the train station with Arue, Yunyun and the two lackeys.
I just wanted to show Arue the dungeon, but Funifura and Dodonko came along.
However, when we got there…
"...Hah? There's nothing there, Megumi."
Funifura said, squinting at where the door was.
I smirked and wagged a finger at her.
"Figures. A commoner like you can't perceive the dungeon. I bet someone with more imagination like Arue can…"
"I also can't see it."
"Oh."
An awkward silence fell on us, as we realized that the others couldn't see the dungeon.
I turned to Yunyun.
"Oi, can you transfer your abilities to Arue?"
"...S-So mean."
Yunyun actually started to tear up from my half-joking request.
"Hah, what a waste of time. If you just wanted an excuse to hang out, there are less creepy ways to go about it, Megumi."
"Yeah, let's go somewhere else. Maybe if we walk around the station, a bunch of guys will start hitting on us!"
Funifura and Dodonko left once they got bored.
"Hmm… Well, it seems that I can't see the dungeon this time. Ah, but perhaps my potential will awaken in the future…"
"Yes, perhaps the time will come soon."
We gave each other a solemn nod as Arue gracefully made her exit.
That just left me with Yunyun.
"Well, let's go inside, then."
"Eh?! We're actually gonna go in again?! We barely survived last time!"
I opened the door to the dungeon and stepped in. Yunyun followed, of course.
"...You should think things through more, Megumi…"
"..."
"Um, Megumi?"
I didn't answer as I walked forward.
"Megumi-san? Um.. Megumin?"
"Yes, what is it, Yunyun?"
"...That's how we're gonna do this, huh?"
She sighed in defeat, then said,
"Should we really be going inside such a dangerous place? We don't even have any weapons and stuff. We had to use a rock to kill those things last time…"
She had a haunted look on her face.
"My genius mind will come up with a way."
"There's such a thing as too much confidence!"
"Oh, will you look at that…"
Ahead of us, there was a group of small, green humanoid monsters carrying clubs.
"I think they're called goblins, right?"
"Eep! S-So scary!"
The goblins noticed us and raised their clubs, running our way.
"Graaa!"
"Eeeep!"
Yunyun hid behind me, while I just stuck my hand out.
"Gackk!"
I caught one of the goblins by the neck and choked it.
"M-Megumin, why are you so strong? That grip strength…"
Yunyun said, coming out of hiding once she saw how I easily handled the goblin.
"I told you I'm a genius."
I then threw the small goblin at its comrades, making them fall over.
Then, I grabbed the club the goblin dropped and used it to whack the goblins that fell over.
You have leveled up! You gained 8 skill points!
Smiling, I used those skill points to level up explosion to max rank right away. Then, I used the leftover points to raise my magic power.
"T-They're dead… Megumin killed those things…"
Yunyun said, with a horrified look on her face as she knelt down to the dead goblins. I just shrugged.
"It's either us or them."
"W-We should bury them, at least… Eeep?!"
Yunyun backed away in fright as the ground seemed to absorb the dead goblins.
"Humu. I guess there's a process like that. Yunyun, grab one of those clubs before it disappears."
"I-If you say so…"
From then on, we advanced forward, killing goblins and such on the way.
Until suddenly, we heard the sound of rapid footsteps. We thought it was just an enemy, but we saw a guy who was a few years older than us running away with tears in his eyes.
"T-That stupid female thief! What am I gonna do without a cheat item?! Wahhh!"
I held up a hand to stop him. He stopped for us, but he was still crying, wiping tears from his freckled face.
"...What happened to you?"
He sniffed before replying.
"I-I got a cheat item from a goddess called Aqua, but some silver-haired female thief stole it from me! There's no way I'm gonna fight in this dungeon without a cheat item!"
"So you're just gonna quit?"
"Of course I am!"
I looked at the equipment he had on him. He had a dagger and a pair of leather gloves.
"If you're gonna quit anyway, then give us your stuff."
"...Fine."
He dropped his equipment and continued exiting the dungeon while crying.
I tossed the dagger over to Yunyun, since I was a better fighter than her. I took the leather gloves for myself.
"Are we really gonna keep going…?"
"Of course we are."
"Ugh…"
I didn't understand why she was moping so much. This whole dungeon thing was like a dream come true for me.
From there, we continued to kill monsters, with Yunyun using her dagger, and me whacking them with my club, and sometimes choking out a goblin with my leather gloves.
When I leveled up again, I put all my points into magic power.
Part 4
"Eh? You got some money, Megumi?"
My mother, Yui… Or, should I say, Yuiyui said, when I handed her the 1,500 Yen I earned from dungeon crawling with Yunyun.
"Yes, please use this to buy tonight's dinner."
"Maybe we can have actual meat for once? As for how you got the money… I won't ask. Why don't you take a hot bath, dear? And don't tell your father about this for now."
She might have gotten the wrong idea.
Still, it was a hassle to explain the whole dungeon thing, so I just let her imagine whatever kind of scenario for now.
I soaked in the hot bath. Well, it was more of a warm bath. We couldn't afford to use too much hot water.
When it was time for dinner, my father, let's call him Hyoizaburo, and my little sister, let's call her Komekko, stared in wonder at the thin slices of shabu-shabu meat floating on leftover broth.
"T-There's actual meat for dinner?! Yui, are you sure this is within the budget?! Y-You didn't do something to get this money, did you?"
My father was also getting all kinds of weird ideas.
My mother didn't answer, just chuckling as she served the food.
"W-Well, I won't ask… As long as it's not one of the neighbors…"
Would it be fine with him if it was a stranger? That'd make it worse, in my eyes.
"Ohhh! This meat is thin, but it's tough and chewy! This is that A-5 wagyu I heard about, right?!"
Komekko had the wrong idea, but no one dared to correct her as she happily ate the meat that was several grades below A-5 wagyu.
"Megumi, come here, I want to talk to you."
My mother said, after dinner.
I came up to her and said,
"Mother, please call me Megumin from now on."
"...Megumin? Well, if you want a nickname, that's fine. You've provided more for this household than your father has this last week, anyway."
I suppose I was being treated as the breadwinner now.
She took out 1,000 Yen and handed it to me.
"I only used 500 Yen for dinner. The rest is yours."
"...? But I want you to use this for groceries."
She gave me a small smile.
"It's over for me as a parent if I make my daughter pay for everything. Use that money. And don't even think about saving it. Do something fun. Maybe go on a date with that boyfriend of yours."
"Boyfriend…?"
"Well, you have a boyfriend who gave you that money, right? He must be very kind. Did you tell him about our family situation?"
She thought I had a boyfriend who took pity on me and gave me money.
Again, I just went with the flow, since I didn't want to tell her the real reason.
Your bond has increased!
Crimson Family (Coven of Demons) Bond Rank: 4
At Rank 4, your family sees you as the breadwinner, much more reliable than your father. Your little sister respects you for giving her food. Your mother seems to have the wrong idea about you, though.
Bond Reward: You will get some spare change once in a while
I pocketed the money and thought about what to do with it.
It wasn't too late in the evening yet. I decided to head into the city again and go to the net cafe.
We didn't have wi-fi at home. And of course, we didn't have a computer. The Adventurer Card app didn't run on the internet at all, so that was pretty much the only app I could use at home whenever I wasn't using public wi-fi.
Whenever I had spare money, I would go to the net cafe. There was an MMO I occasionally played in net cafes called Myriad Swords. A sequel came out, but I hadn't been able to play it with no access to a PC.
I didn't really join any guilds, because I didn't have any time to properly grind levels. I could play, at most, maybe 6 hours a month. Players in a guild probably play twice that amount everyday.
Due to these time constraints, I didn't bother doing anything else with my build except for leveling my AoE magic, which I used to insta-wipe mobs. It was an ineffective strategy at the higher levels, but I was permanently stuck in the mid-game, anyway.
And since I was starting from level 1 with the sequel, that meant that I couldn't even one-shot mobs anymore. I spent most of my time in the net cafe whacking goblins with a starter club until I had enough points to level up my magic.
Huh. That was exactly what I was doing in real life.
Upon realizing that, a feeling of futility hit me and I quit the game.
I used the remaining time I had catching up on message boards I participated in. When I looked around on a supernatural message board, I got an idea.
What if I wrote about the dungeon in the message board? There might be some others who have discovered the dungeon as well.
Then I could recruit them into the crimson demon clan. Or better yet, teach them the wonders of explosion magic.
I ran out of time after making that post. I still had some money left, but I didn't extend my session, choosing to save it for another day.
Before going home, I looked at my phone, checking my quests.
Use Explosion magic on an open field! Quest Rewards: 15 exp, 1 Magic Power (Complete)
Use Explosion magic on an abandoned building! Quest Rewards: 15 exp, 1 Bravery
Use Explosion magic near a populated area and evade the police! Quest Rewards: 15 exp, 1 Cunning
I suppose I did complete that first quest earlier with Wolbach-sama.
"Hmm… I guess I'll have to find an abandoned building."
And so, I went to the outskirts of town.
Part 5
Some might say it's probably a bad idea to go into an abandoned building when it was getting dark.
But I couldn't just cast explosion magic on a building that only looked abandoned. What if there were homeless people inside?
"...Is there anyone in here?"
I called out into the dark space within.
"..."
I wasn't scared or anything. I was just being reasonably cautious.
"T-There isn't anyone in here, right? Hello…?
I called out into the darkness.
Suddenly, I heard a noise, shoes scraping against the floor.
"Ne… jou-chan, it's a bad idea to go inside places like this, yanno? It might have bad guys, after all. Hehe…"
A group of delinquents stepped out of the shadows. They all had smirks on their faces as they looked at me lecherously.
I tried to back away, but they soon encircled me.
I wasn't really scared, since I could always take out the club from my inventory and knock them out. My strength was apparently higher than the average person, after all. I gave them a disinterested look.
"...A bunch of grown men trying to intimidate a girl? That's kinda pathetic, isn't it?"
That seemed to piss them off.
"Oi, if you don't wanna get hurt, then you should just play along. Don't worry, we'll make you feel good…"
I was about to take my club out, until I heard another voice behind us.
"Worthless men… There are worthless men in this world too, huh?!"
I turned around and thought I saw Wolbach-sama, due to the horns and reddish-hair I saw, but it was someone different.
She wore a rather revealing outfit and had a pair of bat-like wings behind her.
"W-What is that? A monster?!"
A delinquent said, spooked by the newcomer's appearance.
One of them chuckled and stepped towards the woman.
"Oh, come on. It's just cosplay. Hey, babe, why don't you join this girl over here and play with us… Gack!"
He received an elbow to the gut.
"Scumbag men should just die!"
She soon made quick work on them, throwing them into a pile outside.
Then, she took their phones and examined them.
"Hmm… Wolbach-sama was right. There was a group of app-users here."
App-users… As in, people who could enter the dungeon?
Wait, so they had powers like me. Not only that, but they outnumbered me.
If this lady wasn't around, something terrible might have happened to me.
"...Thanks for your help."
She nodded and smiled at me.
"I'm Arnes, a follower of Wolbach-sama."
"I am Megumin! An Arch-Wizard who wields explosion magic! The number one disciple of Wolbach-sama!"
"Number one disciple… Oi, that title clearly belongs to me."
A rival, huh?
I smirked and pointed at the abandoned building.
"Let's have a little competition, then. Whoever can destroy that building with their magic is Wolbach-sama's number one disciple."
"Heh… Fine, that works for me!"
She flew up using her wings, then raised her hands.
"I'll prove to you that I'm the strongest! Cursed Light…"
"Explosion!"
While she was talking, I unleashed an explosion right away, blowing up the building before she could.
"..."
She went back down as she watched the building that now had a hole in it.
"Hmph… Seems like I won."
I said, after I collapsed on the ground.
"Oi! You gave me the impression that you enjoyed theatrics, so I was just going along with the vibe! Why didn't you say something flashy before firing off your magic?!"
"Nothing's flashier than stealing the spotlight from someone who thinks they're a hotshot. Well, I wouldn't expect you to understand that, Wolbach-sama's number two disciple."
"Ugh… Well, actually, Hoost-sama is probably the real number one disciple. You're number two, at best."
"So, you're number three, then."
"Gahhh!"
After she had her time to express her despair, I said,
"So, I guess Wolbach-sama sent you here to deal with the rogue app-users?"
She nodded and said,
"Yeah, Wolbach-sama gave you that quest on your phone, thinking you could deal with them on your own. She didn't expect you to go into the building, though. It's a good thing I followed you, because I wanted to see what Wolbach-sama's new disciple is like."
I looked at the phones she took and said,
"So, what are you gonna do with those? If you don't want them, can you give them to me?"
I wanted to sell them in a pawn shop.
"No can do. Wolbach-sama is gonna observe the other goddess's app to see if we can make improvements to our own app-system."
"Wait, so Wolbach-sama didn't create this app?"
"Unfortunately, she didn't. We're essentially just copying the other app-system. Ah, but it functions in a similar way, don't worry. The only difference is that you get direct quests from Wolbach-sama herself. The other goddess's app system has more personalized quests."
I nodded, having a vague idea of what she meant.
"Anyway, just keep following Wolbach-sama's instructions. And don't get involved with the other goddesses."
"Got it, number three disciple."
"...You sure are arrogant for a newbie… Whatever."
She flew away, leaving me behind.
You established a new bond!
Arnes (Wolbach's Follower)
At rank 1, Arnes begrudgingly accepts you as another of Wolbach's disciples. She thinks you're too arrogant for your own good, but she can't say that she hates that part of you.
Part 6
"[Light of Saber]!"
Yunyun released a bright beam that manifested into a large blade, slicing across a group of zombies.
"Well?! Isn't that cool?!"
"..."
She got a huge power spike, all of a sudden.
"...Where did you learn that?"
"Um, I got a random loot box from a quest. When I opened it, I received a book that gave me advanced magic."
"...Advanced magic, huh? You should have unlocked explosion magic, instead."
"Um… It seems kind of useless, so…"
"Useless, you say?! Useless like these excess bags of fat on your chest?!"
"Eep?! I'm sorry!"
She apologized when I gave her breasts a good smack.
We went into the dungeon again after school, but my mood went down once Yunyun started showing off her flashy magic.
If only I could use explosion magic in the dungeon!
We collected the loot from the zombies, which wasn't much, then proceeded onward.
"[Light of Saber]!"
I couldn't do much of anything with Yunyun one-shotting everything, though.
"...Oi, stop taking all the kills."
I said, feeling stupid with my club in hand.
"W-Well… What can I do? I guess I can use magic that will make it easier for Megumin to get kills…"
"Yeah, do that."
With the next group of skeletons we saw, Yunyun tried a different approach.
"[Bottomless Swamp]!"
The skeletons started sinking into the floor, which transformed into a swamp.
I headed over with my club and started shattering the bones of the skeletons.
But as I finished the last skeleton…
The club ran out of durability and broke in half.
"...Now I don't even have a weapon."
I said tonelessly, as I threw away the worthless scraps of the club.
That was the last straw for me. I turned around and headed back to the entrance.
"U-Um, does that mean we're done for today?"
"Yunyun can stay here, but I'm done for now."
"...What's the point if Megumin isn't here, though…?"
So annoying!
"Listen, I'm not gonna hang out with you even if you come with me, so you might as well just stay in the dungeon!"
"S-So mean! Fine, I don't even wanna hang out with Megumin, anyway!"
Warning! Your bond rank with Yunyun is in danger of decreasing!
Who cares about that?
"..."
When Yunyun noticed that I wasn't leaving, she said,
"W-What is it, Megumin? Go away! You said you don't want me around, right?"
This girl…
Even though I was giving her a chance to apologize!
Making sure to stomp to show her how mad I was, I huffed and left the dungeon.
When I started walking around in the city to cool off, I saw Funifura and Dodonko. They saw me and snickered.
"Hm? Where's Yuna? You two are always together, so it's weird to see you alone, Megumi."
"What's the matter? Trouble in Yuriland?"
I gave them a blank stare, then said,
"What are you gonna do if I'm really Yuri?"
"...E-Eh?"
They didn't expect me to say that and couldn't respond.
"Well, you keep teasing me about being Yuri, but what if I was? You wanna go to a love hotel? Come on, let's have fun, the three of us…"
I wriggled my hands at them menacingly.
"Eeep?! Are you really like that?!"
"I-I'm sorry, I'm still a virgin!"
I sent them running away.
I enjoyed the momentary victory, until I realized that those rumors would grow even more at school.
"...That might have been a mistake."
Hoping I didn't just make things worse for myself, I headed to the net cafe again. I earned some money from the dungeon just now. After deducting the share I'd give to my family, and the money I had leftover from last time, I determined that I could spend another couple hours in the net cafe.
I played Myriad Swords 2 again, deciding to give it another chance. I quit the last time because I felt like the thrill of exploring the dungeon in real life was better than dungeon crawling in the game. But because my dungeon crawl ended abruptly, I felt like playing the game again.
That was, until, a player killer decided to hunt me.
I saw the gray screen of death, then rage quit the game.
I couldn't dungeon crawl, and I couldn't even play a game without some asshole player killing me.
And I guess I was still thinking about my fight with Yunyun.
I don't know why, but I always lash out on her like that. It's a bad habit of mine, to use her as an outlet for my frustrations.
"...Hah… What do I do now?"
I decided to look at the message boards again, not wanting to waste too much of my precious internet time deciding what to do next.
That was when I realized I got a DM from someone named RNGod. They also sent me a friend request.
I normally don't accept friend requests from strangers, knowing that there were a lot of creeps out there.
But I was bored, frustrated and feeling a bit lonely, so I accepted the friend request.
It seemed they were online, too, since they messaged me right away after I accepted the request.
RNGOD is typing….
RNGOD: Hello?
This was a stranger, so I just decided to keep it super casual.
Megumin: Who dis?
RNGod is typing…
RNGod: I saw your forum post the other day, about the dungeon…
This guy must be an app user, too!
I was apprehensive about meeting another app-user, considering what those guys tried to do to me last time…
But there was no sense of being paranoid about every app-user. I mean, Yunyun was an app-user, and she was pretty harmless.
Megumin: Oh! Don't tell me… Are you also one of Wolbach-sama's chosen ones?! Are you one who wields the ultimate destruction magic of Explosion?!
RNGod: Ah, yeah… Something like that. You said that you met Wolbach-sama in your school, right?
Megumin: Indeed! The day after I discovered the dungeon and unlocked the 'Arch-Wizard' class, I went to school like normal… That was when… Behold! A door leading into Wolbach-sama's domain appeared at the school gates!
RNGod: I see… Well, I hope we can meet up someday. After all, we are both one of the chosen ones who can enter dungeons…
Eh? This guy was already trying to meet up?
That gave me warning bells… Until I realized that he probably didn't even know I was a girl yet. For all he knew, I was just another guy posting on this message board.
It wasn't like I was giving away any signs of my gender, even with the way I was addressing myself.
Still, I had to take precautions.
Megumin: …Not so fast! What if you're some creepy guy who wants to kidnap me? You need to provide proof that you're one of the chosen! Send a screencap of the app!
It only took a few minutes until he sent me several screencaps. There was no doubt about it. He was another app-user.
That still didn't mean he could be trusted, but at least he wasn't some random guy trying to trick me.
Megumin: Fuuu… You have convinced me. Where do you want to meet up?
RNGod: I also found some people who can enter the dungeon and I'm planning on meeting up with them eventually. I'll set up a meeting with them and invite you along.
There were others as well, huh?
Megumin: Very well… But you better not forget to invite me! I am looking forward to our fateful meeting!
The conversation ended there.
I was still kind of frustrated about everything, but that gave me something to look forward to.
I also wondered who this RNGod was. Was he a teenager like me? Or an adult man? There was even a possibility she was a girl, too.
…I was kind of hoping he was a guy around my age, though. Preferably maybe a couple years older, so I won't have to deal with some immature kid.
I imagined it, living out my childhood dream of being in a hero's party, slaying the dark lord together.
Along the journey, I'd develop a deep friendship with the hero, which leads to romance.
…I mean, I was a young girl, of course I'd have such fantasies.
And needs…
Speaking of needs…
It was already getting dark out, and I didn't want to cast explosion again in the outskirts of the city when it was this dark out. Especially since I didn't have a weapon this time.
I was still frustrated after my fight with Yunyun, and having my player killed in Myriad Swords 2.
And when I got home, I had a pitiful dinner of lightly salted bean sprouts waiting for me.
The stress just kept on piling up and well…
What does a teenager do when they get stressed?
After taking a bath and changing into my pajamas…
I made sure to hurry.
I slept in the same room as Komekko, which meant I didn't have much time to myself.
While she was still in the living room I…
"Hnn…"
…Reached a hand down my panties and started playing with myself.
I normally don't really think about anything when I do this. I don't know, maybe I'd think about some celebrity or idol for a bit.
Right now, though, I couldn't help but think about my fantasy earlier, about the mystery of RNGod.
What did he look like? Was he handsome? Was he kind? Was he gentle?
If we became friends and eventually lovers… Would we make love?
"Ahh… Hahh…"
I unbuttoned my top and started rubbing my chest with my other hand, while I started to slip a finger inside my womanhood.
I was getting lost in this fantasy, but the realist side of me also grounded my image of RNGod.
He was a message board dweller. There was no way he'd look all that attractive.
But I didn't really care about looks… I just wanted someone dependable, someone who cares about me and his friends.
"Hnnn… Mnn!"
I felt a little guilty, doing this for someone I haven't even met yet.
But it should be fine because I don't know anything about him yet. It's just the idea of him that I'm doing this to.
I imagined what it'd feel like to have a man inside me… Moving, thrusting inside…
I'm pretty small, so I'll probably be manhandled by him.
Thrusting inside me, over and over…
"Hnnnnghh!"
I couldn't take it and reached my climax.
It was a few minutes past my afterglow when Komekko finally arrived for bed.
"Oh, nee-chan already sleeping? Hmm… She's sweating a lot… Maybe I should open the window."
"..."
I pretended that I was already sleeping.
