Chapter 4: Different Homerooms and Meeting Classmates
It was four o'clock in the morning when the alarm clocks in Kayama Nemuri's house went off. Immediately, the four Kaminari siblings woke up and started stretching. This was their daily routine ever since they were 12, wake up early on weekdays and Saturdays and exercise, rest on Sundays and holidays. It was something they had decided on doing because their parents emphasized how much you had to train to be a Hero. Especially their Mom, she always talked about how you had to be in top shape to be a Hero, both for esthetics and because you needed to be strong if you wanted to pull people out of danger. They all stayed in their rooms and practiced as many jumping jacks, squats, super burpees, pushups and sit-ups as they could do, it was a competition between the four of them to see who would be finished first.
After thirty minutes of intense exercise, it was Mysa who finished first, leaving her room covered in sweat and headed for the shower first. Ten minutes later, Josuke came out and waited for her to finish in the shower. About seven minutes after him, Hana emerged from her room. After an entire hour of exercises, Kaoru finally emerged and headed straight for the shower, while Grandma Nemuri was cooking breakfast. "My, my," Nemuri said as she finished cooking breakfast, "I think Kaoru could give Marie a run for her money back in the day."
Kaoru came out to see breakfast was ready for him, and together Grandma and Grandchildren had breakfast. "Aren't you gonna exercise, Grandma?" Hana asked as they ate. Nemuri shrugged, "They have a gym in UA. Plus, I'm not as youthful as I used to be. I can't just get up and exercise like you kids. Don't worry about me, you four should worry about how you'll do in UA. Just because there's not as much trouble as there was when your parents attended doesn't mean the school will be a cakewalk. You'll need to go beyond your limits almost every day if you want to keep up. Remember that."
"Got it!" all four of the Quadruplets said as they finished eating and helped their Grandma clean up. All of them headed out once they were all dressed. Nemuri had surrendered to time and no longer wore the costume she had as Midnight decades ago, and now wore a simple business suit. It wasn't as easy for her to utilize as her old outfit, but she had retired from active Hero work and didn't expect she'd have to fight. That said, she still used a long whip in place of a belt, just in case. As they waited for a bus to take them to UA, she looked at all of her grandchildren.
They were dressed in the uniform of UA, with their own variations. Kaoru's was the most likely to pass muster, nothing out of place, while Josuke's was sloppier, his tie needed to be tightened, which she did. Hana had gone with leggings under her skirt, while Mysa showed her heritage by going with small black socks, and hiking her skirt up until it was almost against regulations. It made Nemuri chuckle, but she said nothing; youth was all about taking risks after all. The Quadruplets all had their suitcases with all their clothes for when they moved into the Dorms, with Nemuri promising to bring the belongings their parents sent to them as soon as they arrived in Japan.
The bus ride was uneventful, and the five of them finally arrived at the front gates of UA High. They stepped out, and the Quadruplets all took a moment to look. Their whole lives they had been told stories about this fabled school; stories of Heroes, Villains, love, rivalry, and rivers of blood, sweat, and tears shed in the quest to be the greatest Heroes ever. All of it finally hit them then; this was really going to be their lives for the next three years. "I think I'm gonna be sick," Kaoru said. "Just focus man," Josuke said, but he was licking his lips nervously, and his wolf tail was tucked between his legs. "This is nothing, we got this," Hana tried to assure her siblings, but her palms were sweating with anticipation. Only cocky Mysa had a smile on her face as she said, "Lets do this! The next Number One Hero is coming through!"
"Yeah right!" a husky female voice yelled back. "Get out of here!" a male voice said. Mysa and Josuke used their superhuman hearing to spot the ones who yelled at them. One was a spiky-haired blonde girl with black eyes while the other was a purple-haired boy with red eyes and was flashing some dangerous looking sharp teeth. "You ain't shit, Gyaru Girl," the blonde girl said, and Mysa headed over to her before her siblings could stop her. "You think you're hot stuff, blondie?" Mysa said as she transformed into her werewolf form and flashed her claws and teeth. The blonde girl wasn't intimidated and lifted up her hand. A stick of dynamite appeared in her hand and she said, "I'll blow you away, bitch!" Mysa growled, "Bring it, bitch!"
All of a sudden, both girls' Quirks deactivated, and up marched Aizawa Shota. "That's enough out of you both, Bakugo and Freeman. I swear, you're as bad as your parents!" Mysa snorted and said, "I'm sorry, Aizawa-sensei." The now grey-haired teacher looked at the daughter of Bakugo Katsuki, who sighed and bowed, "I'm sorry, Aizawa-sensei." Mysa's siblings all got up and Kaoru quickly said, "I'm so sorry, Eraserhead-sensei, sir! She just gets very competitive, and her mouth runs faster than her brain sometimes, sensei-sir!" Aizawa sighed as he closed his eyes, "All of you made it in, huh? Well then, I guess it's a good thing that I arrived, this makes it easier. I'm handing out your class sheets, line up over there."
Aizawa pointed to a set of four tables where lines were forming and Ashido Mina, aka Pinky was loudly declaring, "Right this way kids! Your class schedules are right over here at these tables!" Grandma Nemuri walked up and said, "Thanks, Aizawa. Sorry about them, they're just really excited," she said as her grandkids headed into line. Aizawa nodded, "The problem is that they've got some heavy competition. She just met Bakugo's kid and Kaminari's. Their parents'…unique arrangement is going to make things very different." Nemuri shrugged, "Oh well, at least they all got what they wanted, and they're happy with the arrangement. Though I'm wondering how they'll react to finding out they're in separate classes. That's never happened to them before."
Several minutes later, they got their answer. All four of the Quadruplets looked at their class schedules and looked at each other's class schedules to make sure they were right. "Wow…this is new…" Josuke said as he rechecked his schedule and Kaoru's as well. Hana and Mysa looked at each other's schedules as well and finally looked at each other and then their brothers. "Well…I guess this means we're gonna be trying against each other," Hana said to Mysa. Mysa nodded, even if she was naturally competitive, she never seriously thought she would ever be in a competition against her siblings like this. Nemuri walked up to them then, "Alright then you four, you have your schedules. Kaoru and Mysa, head for 1-A, while Hana and Josuke, go to 1-B."
The four teens nodded, "Can we stay together until then?" The four teenagers looked at her and looked like lost kids almost. They had literally been born together, and they had worked together and played together all their lives. Always the same schools, classes, friends, and lives; the thought that they would be separated in the dorms and in their classes was a completely new experience for them. Nemuri nodded, "Of course you can. And don't act so somber, you're only going to different classes, not dying!" She laughed then, and the four of them blushed in embarrassment at how childish they were being.
"Yeah, come on, guys!" Mysa was the first one to head out, "Come on!" Kaoru, Josuke, and Hana followed their sister and were soon walking through the halls of UA together. Some people saw them and commented on them; no doubt because of the movie that was being released soon about their parents. That fame tended to trickle down to children, plus their general appearance was also notable, seeing as how they were one of the largest groups of students walking the halls together.
They reached 1-A first, and Kaoru and Mysa turned to Hana and Josuke. "See you guys later," Kaoru told them. "Don't fall too far behind us," Mysa joked, and fist bumped her siblings. "YOU try not to fall behind," Hana laughed, "I'm gonna work my tail off to get ahead of you." Josuke just said, "See ya," and he and Hana headed for 1-B.
Once Kaoru and Mysa were in Class 1-A they saw the menagerie of other students there, including the blonde girl that made dynamite. "Oh great," Mysa muttered as her and Kaoru found some seats in the middle of the classroom. The Dynamite Girl saw Mysa and sighed, "Oh great, this bitch." Mysa looked at her and Kaoru quickly got between them.
Meanwhile, Hana and Josuke made their way to Class 1-B and they really had to move it. They had gotten lost once they left their siblings at 1-A. Luckily for them, they stumbled into their Grandma, and she quickly directed them to where 1-B was. They weren't quite running, but they were definitely making records for speedwalking. They quickly found their Class and got in, realizing they were the last two to get to class because as soon as they got into the classroom, everyone stopped and stared at them. "Uh…hi…we got lost," Josuke awkwardly said as they made their way to the back of the class, where the last empty desks were.
In 1-A everything quieted down when their Homeroom Teacher walked in, it was to more than a few cheers when they saw it was the Number 15 Hero, Creati! The Creation Hero walked up to the front of the room and waited a few minutes for her students to quiet down. "Well then, it seems that everyone knows who I am at least," she said with a smile as she looked around at all of the students, and smiled especially at the Dynamite Girl, who rubbed the back of her head in response. "Now then, I think that everyone should come up and introduce yourselves, just something simple, your names and your Quirks."
In 1-B, barely two minutes after Hana and Josuke took their seats, their Homeroom Teacher walked in, to a few gasps and cheers, it was the Number 11 Hero, Vine! "I see I have been blessed with a lively group of students," the Vine Heroine declared, "Now then, since you all know who I am, you should all come forth and introduce yourselves to the Class, just tell us all your names and your Quirk."
In Class 1-A, a girl that looked very sharklike, with grey skin, webbed hands, a shark tail and very sharp teeth walked up first. She had long black hair in a ponytail and her eyes were all black, like a sharks. "M-My name is Samerya Hisa, and my Quirk is 'Shark'. As you can see, I'm a sh-shark girl. And that's it," Samerya Hisa headed straight to her desk, and Creati-sensei said, "Thank you, Samerya-chan. Who's next?" The next one to step up was a boy who looked rather average, except that he had neon-blue hair and pale white skin. When he faced the class he had bright yellow eyes as he said, "I'm Miura Hiroshi, and my Quirk is 'Energy Vampire.' I can absorb almost any kind of energy, in the sun I absorb solar power, or if I'm near an outlet or live wire I can absorb electricity. It makes me a lot stronger when I'm all charged up." This got people talking as Miura Hiroshi headed back to his desk, and Mysa whispered, "Can he absorb people's energy?"
A tall girl, roughly six feet tall, with mud-brown hair that went to her shoulders marched up next. When she turned around to face the class, she showed grey eyes and a cocky grin as she proclaimed, "I'm Ishida Ishi, and my Quirk is 'Rock Manipulation'. If it's some kind of stone or rock, I can do anything with it, make it softer, make it harder, change shape, anything I want to!" This brought up quite the discussion as the other students talked. Next up was a tall boy, roughly 5' 11" with brown skin and looked like he had leaves for hair. The boy turned around to show his brown eyes and he said, "My name is Chiba Hiromasa, and my Quirk is 'Razor Leaves.' As you can guess, I can use my leafy hair like shuriken if I want." Chiba Hiromasa took to his desk, and next was the rude blonde girl that Mysa hated. The dynamite girl declared with an aggressive smile, "You better remember my name, because it's Bakugo Nao, and I'm gonna be the next Number One! My Quirk is Explosion Maker, and I know how to use it!" Creati-sensei walked over as Bakugo Nao, surely the daughter of Bakugo Katsuki, aka Dynamight, lifted her hand to demonstrate her Quirk. The teacher grabbed her shoulder and said, "That's enough, young lady." Bakugo Nao stopped and nodded, and then went back to her desk.
The next up was a boy with bright and blonde streaked hair. As he turned around, he revealed sharp teeth like a shark, and that his eyebrows wrapped all around his eyes. "How's it goin'? I'm Tetsutetsu Banzan, and I got two Quirks, my Dad's Steel Quirk and my Mom's Large Fist Quirk. I can't wait to show you all what I can do!" Kaoru leaned over to Mysa and whispered, "I guess you aren't that unique here." Mysa shrugged, "Whatever." Next up was a boy with pink flecked chartreuse hair on his right side and blonde hair on his left side, and a large, muscular tail coming from his back. The boy turned around to show his left eye was black while his right eye was multilayered teal and yellow. "My name is Ojiro Haru, and I also have two Quirks, my Father's Tail Quirk and my Mother's Invisibility Quirk," he introduced himself, and Kaoru nodded at this, "He could be a handful with that combo."
Once Ojiro Haru sat down, the next student got up. This was a short girl whose long hair was tied in a ribbon, and it was black with green highlights. Her left eye was black and her right eye was red. She turned to the class and said, "I am the daughter of the amazing Heroes Froppy and Tsukuyomi, and I inherited both of their Quirks!" She then demonstrated by snatching a textbook with her long tongue and grabbing two more with her shadow, which reached out and grabbed them, as she theatrically declared, "I am Tokoyami Mika!" The girl stood proudly as folks cheered for her, and Creati-sensei made her put the textbooks back before she went to her seat. After her a tall pretty boy with long, thorny green hair and blue eyes walked up. "My name is Ibara Shin, and I got my Mom's Quirk, Vines," he simply said, and then sat back down.
Once he sat down Mysa walked up and proudly said, "I'm Mysa Kaminari from America, and I have Lycanthrope Quirk from my Mom," she then stopped to transform into her werewolf form, "And Electrification Quirk from my Dad!" she made her lightning appear around her body, making her werewolf fur stand on end as well as making almost everyone's hair stand up before she stopped and took her seat. Kaoru then walked up and said, "I'm Kaoru Kaminari, from America, like my sister who just went, and my Quirk is Somnambulist, my body basically releases knockout gas. That's all." Mysa snorted when he sat next to her, "You suck at presentation, bro."
The next student up was a short boy with red hair and sky-blue eyes. "I'm Honda Yuta, and my Quirk is Lure," he then lifted his right hand and a hypnotic ball of light appeared, "I can hypnotize people with balls of light, I can only make two at a time though." Many people looked at Honda suspiciously, especially the girls as they wondered what someone with a hypnosis Quirk would do if he got the chance. The next student up was a large blonde-haired boy who had a handsome face and green eyes as he turned around to reveal he was a white boy. He said in halting Japanese, "I am Martin Thomson, and my Quirk is Gatling Arms, as long as I eat enough calories, I can blast bullets out my arms."
After Martin Thomson sat down a tall, very tall, girl with long black hair and pale white skin walked up. She had pale blue eyes that were nearly as white as her sclera, and misty air came out of her mouth as she spoke, as if she was inside a freezer. "I am Kurihara Miyuki, and my Quirk is Snow Woman. I can control snow and ice, and even make it if I focus," she said and made snow appear from her right hand to demonstrate before she sat down. An average height boy walked up then, and he was completely bald and his skin seemed to shine like it was made of metal, he introduced himself, "My name is Miyake Koichi, and my Quirk is Light Manipulation, just like Invisible Girl's, except I'm not always invisible and I can even make lasers if I have to!"
Next up was a large wolfman with grey fur. He had piercing blue eyes as he bowed and said, "My name is Ito Ogami, and my Quirk is Wolf Boy, I don't know why they call it that though." As he sat down Kaoru whispered to Mysa, "Looks like werewolf Quirks aren't that special anymore." Next up a very curvy girl stood up and bounced to the room. She had bright pink hair and deep green eyes, and her irises were flower shaped. "So, like, hi, my name is Kida Kohana, and so my Quirk is called Flower Power! I can make any kind of flowers or plants bloom whenever I want, though how long they last, like, depends on the environment," the girl said and made a rose appear in her left hand before she retook her seat.
An average height but muscular boy stood up next, he had blue hair and red eyes as he walked up and said, "My name is Nakamura Yasuo, and my Quirk is Kinetic Absorption. When something hits me, it only makes me stronger!" Nakamura Yasuo flexed then before he sat back down. The next boy to stand up was mostly average looking except for his blonde and black hair and black and yellow eyes that looked like half black and half yellow. "My name is Ozaki Dai, and I have two Quirks, one is Iron Skin that lets me make my skin hard as iron, and the other is Laser Hands, which is pretty obvious, that's about it," he said, and sat down.
The last girl to stand up had red hair styled into odango and pink eyes, she was noticeably tall, and her skirt showed off long legs. She went to the front and said, "I'm Sakurai Sally, and my Quirk is Sleeping Flowers, basically I can make flowers bloom that make pollen that makes people fall asleep." Once she sat down, Creati-sensei smiled and said, "Well then, I think this will be a good year."
Meanwhile in Class 1-B, the first student stood up in front of the class. It was the boy that had hung out with the explosive girl outside. The boy looked at everyone and smiled, despite his sharp teeth it looked like a genuinely friendly smile as he said, "My name is Jiro Akira, and my Quirk is called Tuning Fork. Basically, when I harden my body," he stopped and his body assumed a sharper, more metallic appearance, "I can redirect the vibrations made when someone hits me and hit them back." Hana nodded at this info, "Interesting," and the next student stood up. This one was a girl who had a large and muscular looking tail with hair that parted in the middle, blonde on the right side and pink flecked chartreuse hair on her left, her right eye was black, and her left eye was multilayered teal and yellow. "I'm Ojiro Haruno, and I have two Quirks, Tail, like my Dad, and my Mom's Invisibility Quirk. I also have a twin brother in 1-A with the same Quirks."
Josuke nodded at this and whispered to Hana, "I guess Mysa's not as special as she thought she was." Once Ojiro Haruno sat down, a boy with brown hair that covered his eyes and a slightly rotund appearance walked up. "Hello, my name is Komori Fujio, and my Quirk is Mushroom, I can basically make them appear wherever I want, and they last depending on the humidity of the area they grow in," the boy explained before he retook his seat. After him was a girl with blue hair and wide eyes, her lips appeared to be black, but it was hard to say if it was lipstick or natural. She waved her hand to the students and said, "Hi, my name is Honenuki Akiko, and my Quirk is Softening, anything I touch gets as soft as mud, and I can trap things or move through it."
Hana whispered to Josuke as Honenuki sat down, "I guess we're not the only legacies this year." The next one up was a boy that looked like a green skinned dragon with two horns sticking out of his head and hair that was black one the right side and blonde on the left side. "My name is Jason Rin, and my Quirks are Scales, from my Dad and Horn Cannon from my Mom, I'm one hell of a long-distance threat," he said with a cocky grin before he sat down. The next boy up looked remarkably average, there was nothing remarkable about him from his looks. The boy still had a pretty smug grin as he said, "I'm Hado Kentaro, and my Quirks are Spiral from my Dad and Intangibility, from my Mom. You can't touch me, but I can drill you!" he made his right hand spin around like a drill before he sat down.
The next one was a slightly short girl who was bald as she floated to the front of the room. Here eyes were pure silver, no irises or pupils as she said, "I am Akiyama Kaya, and my Quirk is Enlightenment. I can see the connections of the world and shape them to my will. That is all," she said before she floated back to her desk. "Showoff," Hana muttered before the next student stood up. The girl was tall, had bright orange hair and brown eyes and some fantastic looking curves as she stood in front of the class and said, "I'm Goto Nami, and my Quirk is Water Manipulation. I'm pretty good with it too."
The next one up was a boy with dark brown skin and long curly black hair that reached down his back. His lower canines jutted from his jaw and his stature was hunched over almost like a gorilla's and he had muscles like a gorilla too. "My name is Fukushima Mugen, my Quirk is Jungle Man. I'm as strong as a gorilla, and I can talk with animals too," he said with a smile that looked proud but not arrogant as he went back to his seat. The next boy up was also extremely muscular and tall, almost seven feet tall in fact, with long blue hair that reached to the middle of his back. He had red eyes but a handsome face as he said, "I'm Hirose Rei, and my Quirk is Energy Claws, I can basically make claws with my ki and cut through anything with it."
The next student to stand up was a tall blue haired girl wearing round glasses with long legs and had exhaust pipes jutting out of her elbows. When she turned around Hana and Josuke noticed her eyebrows were shaped like arrows. The girl bowed and said, "Hello. My name is Iida Tenko, and my Quirk is called Engine. I have exhaust ports in the backs of my calves and elbows as you can see, that allow me to launch myself with superspeed." She said all of this quietly but just loud enough for everyone to hear her then bowed again and went back to her desk. "The Fourth Generation of the Ingenium Dynasty," one of the students said in awe as she sat down. Next up was a boy with red skin and purple hair. He had all black eyes as he stood up in front of everyone and said, "I'm Juba Takashi, and my Quirk is Ten Men. I can basically split myself into nine other copies, all as strong as me."
After him a tall boy with dark black hair and bright blue eyes made his way to the front of the class, he had a square jaw and a cocky grin on his face as he said, "Hello everyone. I'm Kato Shiro, and I have two Quirks, Super Toughness, I'm basically tough enough to shatter bricks like they're nothing, and Flight." Kato Shiro demonstrated his Flight Quirk by flying back to his desk. The next student was a girl with green skin and a curvy body she flaunted by bouncing to the front. Her hair was white, and her eyes were purple, and she said, "I'm Matsuru Leiko, and my Quirk is Pride, as long as I think I'm invincible, I AM Invincible!" She happily skipped back to her desk, with everyone wondering if the girl was serious or not.
The next student was a short, skinny boy, maybe 90 pounds soaking wet, if that, with pink hair and eyes. He looked nervous as he said, "I-I'm Nagai Taro, and my Quirk is Rubberman. I can stretch a lot," he said, then demonstrated by stretching his arms the width of the classroom, before pulling them back and then going back to his desk. The next student was a large girl, seven feet tall and muscular like an ogre, with boyishly short pink and blue highlighted hair and dark grey eyes. "I'm Oishi Sayo," she said in a booming voice, "And my Quirk is Rock Armor. I can cover my body in solid rock at will, but it's exhausting if I use it too long." She went back to her desk, and the next student, a boy that looked pure black, like his entire body was a shadow with yellow eyes, walked up. "I'm Saito Kentaro," he said, and no one saw his mouth, "And my Quirk is Solar Power. I can absorb solar radiation and use it for almost anything, from becoming faster, stronger, or even firing lasers. However, if I'm in the dark, I'm not too strong."
The next girl had bright gold skin, as in shining gold, silver hair, shining silver hair, and eyes that looked like shiny emeralds. "I'm Tamanaha Kin," she introduced herself, "and my Quirk is Golden Balls. I can create dozens of spheres that can do almost anything I want them to." She sat back down, and Josuke realized it was his turn to go up. He walked up to the front of the class and waved to everyone, "Hi guys, I'm Josuke Kaminari, and my Quirk is Lycanthrope. I'm basically like a werewolf, and it gives me all the abilities like better smell, hearing, strength, and stuff like that." He sat down and Hana walked up to the front of the class, the last student to do so. "I'm Hana Kaminari, and my Quirk is Electrification. I can control electricity, but if I use it all up then I'm completely paralyzed for the next hour. That's about it."
Hana sat down and Ibara-sensei smiled benevolently as she looked at her students of 1-B. "I see you are all blessed with amazing gifts. Let us work to make you all amazing Heroes!"
