Chapter 11: Class 1-B Costumes and USJ Start

On the same day that Class 1-A faced each other in Battle Trials, Hana Kaminari got up in 1-B's Dorms. She had heard about her Mom's injuries while stopping a robbery, and had woken up angry. She was angry at the robbers, angry that she couldn't be there for her Mom, and angry at the world. Hana's anger manifested itself with crackling static electricity all over her body, making her violet-lightning-streaked blonde hair was stick up like crazy and she had a royally pissed off look on her face as she got dressed in her exercise clothes, black and yellow sports bra and sweatpants with sneakers, and headed for the gym. None of her classmates got in her way as they saw her, they were afraid that her electricity would shock them if they got too close to her.

"Hold on Sis," Josuke said as he got in front of her. "Turn down the juice, alright? Otherwise, you might fry something, or someone."

Hana stopped and took a few deep breaths, and her electricity disappeared. "I'm worried about Mom too, but remember, she's got Dad back home, plus, she's been through worse, right? So, what if she's got a few weeks off work, that's all. No need to go off the handle," Josuke reminded her. Hana quietly nodded and went into the gym. After a quick stretching session, she got to work on the exercise bike, riding it hard and fast for ten minutes to build up a good sweat. After recovering from the bike, Hana saw that two classmates, Fukushima Mugen and Iida Tenko were sparring. Fukushima used his large size and strength effectively, using his arms and feet in ways that pushed the scion of the Iida family to her limits of speed.

Although Iida wore body covering clothes, it was clear that she was quite lean and muscular from the efficiency of her moves and how Fukushima chose to dodge her counter attacks instead of taking the hits. They were both wearing standard kickboxing gear to protect themselves, but it was clear that he was afraid of her, especially her powerful kicks. The spar ended when Fukushima went for a roundhouse kick and Iida ducked under it and landed a heel kick to his chin that knocked him down. "WINNER!" Hirose Rei declared when Fukushima fell. Iida helped him up and said, "Good spar, Fukushima-san. You really gave me a challenge."

Fukushima chuckled, "Hardly. You were too fast for me to keep up. You were trained well." Iida took some water before she responded, "My engines in my calves and elbows make my punches and kicks stronger. Because of that, my Father decided I should learn Muay Thai to teach me how to use my Quirk effectively." That got Hana's attention, "Care to spar me with our Quirks?" Iida Tenko looked at Hana and said, "I'm afraid not, Kamari-kun. We are forbidden by school rules to use our Quirks without permission outside of class or emergencies."

Hana shrugged, "Alright, then go a round with me, no Quirks, just our martial arts skills." Iida nodded and the two teens took a moment to stretch before Hana put on the sparring gear and got into the ring. Hirose looked between them and then chopped the air, "GO!"

Iida jumped at Hana and went for a low kick that would have sent Hana straight to the mat. Hana dodged the kick and blocked two hard jabs before she went for her own kick. Iida jumped back and went for a high kick that Hana ducked under before she went for a tackle. Iida barely avoided the tackle in time and stepped back, waiting for Hana to get back on her feet. Damn she's good! Even without using her Quirk she's fast! That old Ingenium blood at work.

Hana jumped back up and started bouncing on the balls of her feet. Hana then sprang at Iida and went for a Superman punch, surprising the other girl and letting Hana land a punch. But Iida rolled with the punch and spun around into a spinning heel kick to Hana's back. Hana barely turned around and blocked the kick with both her arms, OW! Holy CRAP! She almost hits as hard as Mom! Hana ignored the pain and swept Iida's other foot, knocking her on her back. Iida rolled back to her feet before Hana could take advantage of her fall and got back into her fighting stance. Hana barely got ready to defend herself when Iida was on her.

Iida threw a hard combination of punches and kicks that Hana struggled to block with all her skill from years of sparring with her parents and siblings. Iida then wrapped her hands behind Hana's head, and Hana knew she had to act fast or take a knee to the face. Hana grabbed Iida's body and pulled her to her. Iida was caught by surprise and Hana saw her chance to win. She lifted the taller girl up slammed her down, holding on the entire time. The wind was knocked out of Iida and Hana quicky shuffled up and mounted her, pushing her arms down and looked her in the face, praying that Iida Tenko wouldn't try to fight, Hana was too tired to grapple with her for long.

Iida Tenko looked at Hana Kaminari in shock, and then smiled, "I surrender. Well done, Kaminari-kun. You've taught me a lot about my weaknesses." Hana smiled and got up, and helped her opponent up, "Yeah, you're pretty amazing too. I think my arms are going to be bruised for a week from that kick."

The two girls headed back to their rooms and Hana finished getting ready for the day, making sure to have a good breakfast before rushing with Josuke to Class 1-B. Vine-sensei was waiting for them and announced, "Alright, everyone, I admit that I have not been following older curriculums. There was good reason for this, I wished to be sure you would be physically and mentally prepared for today's test." She pulled out a blue card from her white robes and lifted it up, "Today we shall be performing Rescue Trials! You will all be paired up and pairs shall compete against each other to rescue someone in need!" She then pressed a button on a remote and the walls opened, letting robotic arms hand each student briefcases. "Now, head for the lockers and get dressed in your Hero Costumes, all of which have been specially prepared just for you!"

Everyone headed to their lockers, and after ten minutes they emerged. Vine-sensei looked at her students and smiled in approval, "Now you look like Heroes."

Iida Tenko took the lead, wearing a suit of light, aerodynamic armor with grooves that formed a line of V's from the chest to the middle and a V-shaped visor. Juba Takashi was wearing a white form-fitting suit with black mask, boots, gloves, and the black number 10 on his chest. Kato Shiro was dressed in a bright red outfit with blue boots as well as a black leather jacket and the letter S in gold over his right pectoral. Matsuru Leiko was dressed in a white leotard with purple belt and matching boots and gloves. Nagai Taro was dressed up in a purple leotard that left his arms and legs bare except for black gloves and boots that looked like they were weighted, he had a hard time moving with them on. Oishi Sayo was dressed the least of the girls, wearing a top that looked like a black sports bra and shorts that had 'Rock On' in Japanese on the chest with a backpack on her back and wearing sandals.

Saito Kentaro was dressed in a dark grey bodysuit all over so people could see him, with a bright golden sun on his chest. Tamanaha Kin was dressed in a black and yellow sleeveless leotard with leggings and simple sneakers. Josuke dressed in a sleeveless white t-shirt and torn up looking shorts with easily slipped off slippers, he had the kanji for 'Wolf' on his shirt. Hana on the other hand was dressed in a white leather jacket and pants with a black sports-bra on her chest and white boots, it was a color-inverted version of their Father's original outfit. Jiro Akira was shirtless but wore red thick leather pants and boots. Ojiro Haruno was dressed in a sky-blue karate-outfit with slip-on sandals.

Komori Fujio was wearing a brightly neon blue suit with a mushroom cap hat on his head, were it not for a hat he'd look like a gaudy parody of a businessman. Honenuki Akiko was dressed in a bark blue and black suit of armor with an oxygen tank attached to her helmet. Jason Rin was dressed in an outfit that looked like a black and red sleeveless Chinese style Tang suit with practical looking shoes and a mask over his face. Hado Kentaro wore a purple body suit with gold gloves and boots and a smug looking grin on his otherwise average looking face. Akiyama Kaya was dressed like a traditional Japanese Buddhist nun, only her clothes were colored silver and her headpiece was golden. Goto Nami was dressed in a one-piece bathing suit looking outfit that had wave patterns on it and was wearing sandals, strutting like it was a fashion show.

Fukushima Mugen was dressed the least of the boys, only a pair of shorts along with a leopard-skin loincloth that showed off all his honestly amazing muscles and a domino mask on his face. Hirose Rei was dressed in what looked like a sleeveless blue uniform with black boots, red belt, and armbands, his eyes looked focused as he walked. All of them were quiet as they looked at each other's outfits, considering the pros and cons of their chosen styles while thinking about their own.

Vine-sensei led everyone outside, and they took buses driven by U.A.'s robots to another building in the large campus. "Man, you look good, Iida," Hana commented as she looked at her armor. They were together by coincidence. "Thank you," Iida Tenko responded, "This armor is based on my family's usual designs. It's essential to reduce wind resistance and ensure that when I activate my Quirk I won't experience friction burn from the wind." Hana nodded at all this, "Makes sense. Mine isn't all that special in comparison. It's mostly based on my Dad's original outfit since I inherited his Quirk and all, see?"

Hana pulled up pictures from U.A.'s website of her parents in their original Hero outfits, one of her Dad in his first year and her Mom from when she joined in their second year. Hana explained, "I just figured I might as well do like he did and embrace the rocker look. Although, I might add some gear, I might not. My Quirk is more evolved than his, I got better control over my electricity. Although, if I overdo it, I can leave my muscles too exhausted to move for two hours. At least my brain doesn't short circuit."

The two of them continued talking as the bus drove them, and Hana learned that Tenko's Engine Quirk made her even faster than her Father because the engines were in both arms and legs. If she wanted, she could also use them to launch powerful kicks and punches, and the thought that she could hit harder than she had that morning made Hana sweat, I need to make sure that she never hits me full on... I'd be cracked in half! It was interesting, talking with another legacy like hers, by dumb luck back home in South Carolina, her and her siblings were the only kids in their schools who had Heroes for parents. The popularity it gave them was nice at times, but it was hard to find real friends who liked her because of her, instead of only wanting to get close to her popular parents.

The buses finally stopped in front of a large building, and everyone entered it. "Oh man, I think I know what this is!" Rei said excitedly, "It's the USJ!" A female voice in a speaker said, "Indeed it is! Welcome future Heroes!" The Hero Thirteen walked up to them and declared, "Welcome to the Unforeseen Simulation Joint! I am Thirteen-sensei, I will be watching over your Rescue Simulation Training here, and, I have a guest today!" Josuke looked up and said, "Look up there!"

Everyone looked up at the sky as a woman in a tight pink and black outfit wearing a helmet floated down from the sky. "It's Uravity!" Josuke said as the Number 9 Hero floated down in front of the students. Uravity smiled and waved at everyone as the students all cheered to see one of the Top Ten Heroes would be watching their training. "Alright everyone," Uravity said with a smile, "Show us what you're made of!"
