A Fighter to the End
Chapter 4 - Happy Birthday Eddie!
The group of teens have been walking through the jungle for god knows how long, the jungle seemed to be endless, the heat was stifling, Aithne's sweat went into her cuts bringing a sting with it, a reminder that she will need to treat the wounds and not just hers, seeing the rest struggling in some way, Kenji still had his arm around his side, he would slightly limp every tenth step or so, but he walks well enough. Brooklynn kept on rubbing her nose, touching the bruise, and wincing, Darius did the same to his forehead, Sammy and Yasmina seem fine, but Aithne noticed Sammy has a long cut across her back in between her shoulder blades, that was the cause of her pain after they fell, they need to find some a safe place, and fast.
Ben screams, making everyone else scream, Aithne reaches for the gun but did not remove from her belt, seeing no Dinosaur when she and the others turn around to look behind.
"Sorry, I stepped on a twig," Ben said sheepishly.
They all groan and sighed in both relief and annoyance.
"Ugh, come on man," Yasmina complained.
"You done gave me a heart attack!" Sammy gasped with a hand over heart.
"I should step on you," Kenji hissed.
"It's okay Ben, we're all on edge," Darius says.
"And lost," Yasmina added.
"Yeah, we've been out here for a while now," Sammy says. "Daruis we sure we're still headed towards the park?"
"Well, we'd be sure if I still had my phone," Brooklynn snapped. "Because it has a GPS, a compass app, and is also a phone!"
Aithne groaned the moment she heard the word 'phone'; she was hope that Brooklynn would have forgotten it, but nope, it was just wishful thinking.
"Sammy didn't steal your phone!" Yasmina snapped back. "No one stole your phone!"
"That is enough!" Aithne stated, stepping in so neither of the two would do anything drastic. "Both of you pack it in, we got bigger problems, we need to keep moving and stay quiet, that Dino-stein could probably hear you two shouting within a 10-mile radius."
"My fellow campers, chill!" Kenji called out. "What we need here is someone who can make the hard call on what to do next. Since I'm obviously leadership material, I'll do this!"
"I think Kenji hit his head harder then I thought from the fall," Aithne muttered to Yasmina. "Because I thought he said he is 'leadership material', and suddenly I feel the need to wash my mouth with soap."
"Yep," Yasmina replied.
"So which way, Darius?" Kenji asked.
Aithne thought that was wrong for Kenji to put Darius on the spot, he may be smart for his young age, but he should not be put on for him.
"Please you're just trying to cover up the fact that you're lost too, Mr VIP," Brooklynn stated. "None of us know we are."
"I know where we are!" Darius exclaimed running ahead of them. "We're by the Carnotaurus paddock! I thought this place looked familiar."
"Am I an excellent leader or what?" Kenji says, following after Darius.
"Leader my arse," Aithne spat. "On our way."
Aithne made sure everyone was ahead of her before she too followed after them.
"I remember the fence," Darius says. "The broken… ripped-down fence."
Aithne stared at what was in front of them, and her stomach drop, what could a ripped a metal fence like it was made of paper.
"That means," Ben whimpered. "That means Toro is out here, with us."
"Sorry who?" Aithne asked with a confused look.
"Now we have to deal with the indominus and Toro," Darius added. "Hold up, how know about Toro?"
"We all know," Yasmina answered. "Kenji told us, like, the day after it happened."
"In my defence, me saving you was super cool," Kenji added.
"Hang on," Aithne says. "I didn't know about it?"
"That's because Kenji waited till you left the room to tell us because he is terrified of you," Brooklynn told her.
"I am not!" Kenji complained.
They gave Kenji a look to say 'really'.
"We know this enclosure is due north of the main park," Darius says getting back on track. "So, if we keep going, that way we'll hit the visitors' centre."
"And hopefully find Roxie and Dave or someone else," Aithne inquired. "And get something to treat our cuts, I don't fancy get a nasty infection in this jungle."
"Yes!" Kenji joins in. "Exactly what I was thinking, as leader which I-"
"Shut up Kenji," Aithne told him, while walking in the direction Darius point.
The others start to follow her, by the time she got near the tree line, she turned back to see if the others where all together and nothing was following them, she couldn't get rid of this feeling that they are being watched.
"Hey Aithne," Sammy says. "Out of curiosity how do you know how to use a gun?"
"My family live the farm life," Aithne replied. "We have to deal with rats, badgers, foxes and deer, so I'd learn from me Da."
"Oh cool."
The girls and Kenji walk pass her she looks back, seeing Darius talking to Ben, probably trying to reassure the timid lad.
"Darius! Ben! Keep up!" she called out.
They hurried over and reformed the group, and carried on walking.
"You know she trying to get you to believe her," came Brooklynn's voice on her right.
"What?"
"Sammy she getting you to by on her side."
"Oh for the," Aithne muttered, "I'm not on anyone's side Pinky, I'm on the side who wants to live and get the hell off this island."
"But she-"
"Listen," Aithne stopped in her tracks and stopping Brooklynn too, placing her hand on her shoulder. "This is not the time or place, whatever it is you saw Sammy do or not do, you can leave it for later when we are safe, or we will be giving a new term of how 'curiosity killed the cat', just drop it Brooklynn, and I mean it."
Brooklynn scoffed shrugging off the MMA fighter's hand off her shoulder before walking away with her hands in her pockets.
"Its like dealing with an bratty sister," Aithne thought to herself, seeing Brooklynn harshly shoulder nudge Sammy passing by her.
"Don't let Brooklynn upset you," Yasmina says to the Texan. "She's just being… Brooklynn."
Aithne passes Sammy patting her back for reassurance before passing her too, up ahead, the boys have stopped walking, she hurries over to see a small open clearing, a broken Gryosphere and a dinosaur, and judging by the claw and teeth markings only one creature came to mind.
"The indominus Rex was here," Brooklynn broke the silence.
"Predators don't kill prey and then just leave without feeding," Daruis informed everyone. "This, this isn't right."
"Everything about this island is not right," Aithne muttered, but Brooklynn overhead turning her gaze to the older girl.
Suddenly they hear rustling and groaning coming from the tall grass in front of them.
"Hide!" Aithne hissed.
Kenji, Brooklynn and Yasmina took cover in the jungle shrubbery, while Aithne, Sammy, Ben, and Daruis hide behind the Gryo, she feels ben grip his hand on the back of her shirt, no need to guess who, by hearing whimpers coming from Ben, Aithne grabs the gun and points in the direction of the noise, removes the safety, finger over the trigger, steadying her breathe ready to shoot. Whatever is in there its coming closer, her heart racing, a small figure jumps out bellowing, the others scream, but Aithne pull the gun back from pointing, she sighs, and glad she didn't shoot at a baby dino.
"It's alright, just a youngster," Aithne calls out.
Ben looks over her shoulder seeing the baby dinosaur.
"Bumpy!"
Ben hurries over to her getting down so the dino can snuggle into him, Aithne puts the gun away after putting the safety back on, smiling at the reunion.
"And drooly and smelly," Kenji commented. "How do you know that's the same dinosaur?"
"Her big head bump," Ben points out. "Doctor Wu said she's asymmetrical but he's wrong that it's bad. And so what if she is asymmetrical? There's nothing with being different, or bumpy, or getting tired after reading an overly thrilling book! And maybe if her parents had listed to her, she wouldn't have come here and gotten attacked!"
"Are we still talking about the dinosaur?" Yasmina questioned. "Feels like we're not still talking about dinosaur."
"I think Bumpy has become Ben's animal support reptile," Aithne answered.
"As fun as this reunion is, shouldn't we keep moving south?" Kenji said.
"I'm not spending another hour walking through the jungle," Brooklynn expresses. "Hoping that we don't run into the Indominus. Brooklynn. We need a new plan."
"Uh yeah, obviously we need a new plan, so I had Darius figure out a new one. Lay it on us, bro."
Aithne groaned pinching the bridge of her nose, her nerves cannot take much more of Kenji's… well Kenji.
"Okay, so, uh.." Darius thinks. "We need to find somewhere safe close by, if camp if that way, and the park is that way.. isn't Dr Wu's field genetics lab near here? You guys went on the tour, does this area look familiar?"
"Come to think of it, it does," Aithne replied looking around.
"Um… yeah, y-yeah," Sammy added. "I think it might be over that way."
"That seems right," Yasmina agrees.
"Great! That's where we should go," Daruis says. "There's bound to be an adult there who can help or tell us what to do. Right?"
On that note they hear a roar in the distance, making them jump back a little.
"Fine whatever!" Brooklynn states. "Lets just go to the lab, as long as we are moving away from that."
Everyone starts walking again except Ben how is still petting Bumpy.
"What about Bumpy?" Ben asked.
Aithne kept on walking while the others lingered to answer Ben, she's been noticing that Ben would always be near her when ever he felt scared and she can't help that Ben reminds her of her younger brother's and cousins, they would always go to her when they were scared when they were younger, from nightmares to being bulled at school, and she knew that if she stayed back a second longer she would have seen him giving her puppy dog eyes to get Bumpy to come along, but they are right, they have to keep moving. Walking towards some plants with huge leaves, she raises it up to not get it in her face, glimpsing behind her she keeps the leaf up and holds it for Yaz how in turn holds it for Sammy, Aithne watches around her, they most be getting close to the Lab or at the very lest a dirt road with a sign to show them the way.
"Why are we moving so slowly?" Kenji says out loud, hearing the fear in his tone. "Let's pick it up people."
"Showing your Leadership are you now Rich-boy?" Aithne joked.
"Wait, guys where's Ben?" Darius called out.
They stop in they tracks, Aithne dashes by them to head back where they came from, only to stop, seeing Ben trying to pull something along, and struggling, miserably. They other joined her to see too. Yasmina clear her throat loudly, making Ben jump, he pushes what he was dragging back into the bushes.
"Hey, how's it hangin'… dudes?" Ben saying, trying to sound cool.
"Ben are you hiding bumpy in that bush?" Darius asked plainly.
They hear a soft bellowing coming from behind Ben.
"Nope," Ben replied. "That could be anything, ben. The jungle makes all sorts of-"
"Bumpy here girl," Aithne cuts in, kneeling down patting the ground.
Bumpy runs out knocking Ben over on to his backside and heads to Aithne, the baby dino sits down looking at her, she pets her head.
"How did she get here?" Ben acted out innocently, as Bumpy stomps back to him.
"We don't have time for this!" Yasmina stated. "There are dinosaurs eating people out here, and Bumpy can't keep up!"
"She can move faster," Ben quickly responded. "Ankylosauruses run fast. Right, Darius?"
"When they're fully grown, maybe," Darius replied. "But she's just…"
Bumpy bellows before immediately falling asleep on the spot.
"Okay that is unfair," Aithne thought to herself, a little jealous that Bumpy can sleep just like that, while she can't.
"Wow! Yeah total speed demon," Kenji commented. "Say goodbye Ben."
They start walking away.
"No! you say hello!" Ben proclaims standing his ground. "Because she is coming with us! So… there!"
"Ben you're not thinking this through," Brooklynn says. "Bumpy's too slow."
"Then.. then we'll put her in the van!" Ben replied.
"What van?" Sammy asked.
"That one!" Ben points.
They see a black van on the road, and how Aithne didn't see it before hand is beyond her, but not complaining about, they hurry over and Kenji open the back door of the van.
"It's an ACU Transport!" Kenji exclaimed. "Asset containment Unit, got the tour of their HQ, super hardcore dino-trapping security dudes."
"Then where are they?"
That was a good question and Aithne can guess why.
"Is that a tablet?" Brooklynn exclaims, pushing Darius and Kenji out of the way.
Most of the group entered the van, Aithne looked over her shoulder.
"What did they tell us?" Sammy finds a radio and turns it on as she sits down.
"6," Aithne says.
"Oh right, come on channel 6," she changes the channel. "Dave Roxie! Can y'all hear us?"
Nothing but static.
"And of course this doesn't have communication enabled," Brooklynn complains. "Because you know what? why would it? If I had my phone-"
"Enough already!" Daruis snapped. "There are bigger things going on here than your phone!"
"Whoa," Aithne impressed. her eyes widened in surprise.
"You can say that again," Yasmina says.
The tablet beeps getting everyone's attention.
"There's a map program with little moving dots on it," Brooklynn says.
"They chip all the dinosaurs electronically to track them. See there's us, and there's," Aithne heard but her attention was turned to Bumpy bellowing, she makes her way to end looking back into the jungle.
"Wait, here's the Brachiosaurus Grove on the map," hearing Kenji. "So why are the Brachiosauruses way over there?"
"I think maybe the fences are down, at least some of them."
"Easy girl," Ben says after getting out of the van to comfort her.
They hear rumbling, and it's getting closer.
"Guys?" Ben whined, Bumpy is still bellowing.
"That's weird," Brooklynn says. "Whatever that is, it isn't showing up on the tablet."
"What kind of dinosaur wouldn't have a transponder?" Daruis wondered.
"I am not in the mood to find out," Kenji stated.
"Unless," Aithne starts as Yaz walks pass her. "It was smart enough to know it had a tracker?!"
"Ben shut her up!" Yasmina tells him.
Aithne's blood turned to ice, she knows what is coming.
"Get in the van now!" Aithne orders, hurrying out, grabs Ben by the arm to get him in the van, picks up Bumpy and puts her in too.
The moment she gets back in herself, a blood chilling roar rings out.
"We gotta go now!" Daruis shouted.
They get their seat belts on as Aithne shuts the door behind her, locking it, it might not do much better then nothing.
"Wait! Doesn't anyone know how to drive a van?" Daruis asked.
"No but we drove Gryospheres, right?" Sammy replied. "It can't be that different?"
"The Gryospheres had joysticks and a Jimmy Fallon tutorial," Ben added. "I don't even have my leaners permit!"
"I can drive, Aithne says rushes pass them, getting into the front seat, puts on her seat belt and turns on the engine.
Then it hit her, this is not the type of car back home, the wheel was on the wrong side for starter, but in the matter of life and death she'll have to go with it, putting the gear into drive, and put her foot down to the pedal and they speed off just as the Indominus Rex breaks though the treeline, it roars finding it's new target, running after them and fast.
"It's gaining!" Sammy cried out.
"I know Sam!" Aithne yells back, looking in the rearview mirror shifting gear into third. "It's faster than it looks!" she cuts a corner, as the Indominus chops at the van but misses.
Indominus is getting closer to the point when it roar, the back window is covered in dino spit.
"Hold on to your butts!" she shouts cutting corner again, into the jungle.
Failing to react to the cliff, the van drives off, even with the seat belts on, Aithne and the rest of the are lifted off from their seats, and Bumpy became airborne, the van landed hard on the hillside, Aithne grunted feeling a sharp pain in her rib, still with pedal down the van speeds of into the jungle, she steers from left to right to avoid the trees, hidden in the grass, one of the front wheels hits a rock, the van is airborne again and is heading for a tree, it lands, Aithne slams on the brake, the van turns sideways, skidding to halt just inches from the tree they where going to hit.
Relieved she lets go of the wheel, leaning her head back on her seat, she sees the group upside down, catching their breathes, but still alive.
"Nice driving," Yasmina panted.
"Ta," Aithne huffed. "Next time, you can drive."
"At least we lost indominus," Brooklynn added.
"Now, where do we go?" Yasmina asked.
"How about into the genetic lab?" Ben pointed out.
Aithne lifts her head up and see the building right in front of them, no more than 100 meters.
"It's a gift."
After getting out of the van leaving it unlocked so if they need to make a quick getaway and with the keys safe in Aithne's jean pocket they make their way inside, slowly mind you from the rough ride and everything before that, they are still on high alert not knowing what could happen next. Once in, the light are out, very horror film vibe hanging in the air, Aithne removes the gun not taking any chances if any Dinosaurs got in.
"Stay close," Aithne whispered.
They head to the room where most of the teens went to when they witness Bumpy was hatched, seeing a softy light near the entrance, she poked her head in and found something she was not expecting.
"A…cake?" Aithne says.
"What?" Daruis says as he and the over poked around too.
Suddenly a man pops from behind the cake, they screamed, then the man yells shining a table lamp at them, Aithne shields her eyes with her hand,
"Not dinosaur, you're not dinosaurs," the man sighed, collapsing on the table next to the cake. "This is the worst birthday ever."
"No we're not dinosaurs," Aithne speaks. "Just a group of kids that have injures that need tending to, so where is the first aid?"
"Over there," he points to the wall, Aithne wasted no time and gets the kit.
"Ben you take these and you sort out the boys and yourself," Aithne instructed handing Ben parts of the first aid. "I'll sort out the girls."
"Okay," Ben replied.
Around 20 minutes later, Ben disinfected all boys scratches and cuts, Darius had a bandage taped around his forehead, Aithne had to check to see if the young boy broke his nose when they fell, but thankfully it was just heavy bruised, as well as checking if at Kenji's side, which led to him to say something that Aithne took no shit from and poke hard at his bruised rib while Ben bandaged the teen's leg. While Yasmina took care of Sammy's shoulder cut, Aithne took care of Brooklynn's cut nose, once cleaned and a plaster in place she had her an instant ice pack to get the swelling down.
By the time Sammy was patched up, Aithne walks over, as Kenji starts cutting up the cake for everyone, Sammy walks by, bandage around her arm, it seem Yasmina and herself to be the only ones left to treat.
Yasmina is sat on the table looking at her blooded shoulder.
"Let me see," Aithne says, places the antiseptic wipe next to the bandages on the table, she moves some of the torn sleeve to get a clear look. "It doesn't look too deep, but all the same better get it sorted, and it's going to sting," she tells while removing the packet to get the wipe.
"I can take it," Yasmina replied.
Aithne gently wiped over the cut, she hears Yasmina hissed in a breath, side glancing at her face, she was biting the inside of her cheek so she wouldn't cry out. Aithne wiped away most of the blood too before placing a cotton pad on it then wrapping a bandaged around it.
"It's done," Aithne says.
"Thanks," Yasmina replied, slowly moving her on bandaged arm testing.
Aithne starts treating her own injuries as she sits on one of the chairs.
"Do you want help?" Yasmina asked, pointing at Aithne leg.
"Nah, I've got it," Aithne replied, she takes out the van keys from her pocket and putting it on the table next to her. "Go get some cake if you want."
"Again we are so happy we found you," Darius says. "Things are crazy! There's a giant camouflaged dinosaur out there, also regular dinosaurs, we've been hoping find someone-"
"You sure you closed the door behind you, right?" The man cut Darius off.
"Uh..?"
"Yes," Aithne grunted, wiping her kneecap clean.
"Are you sure?"
"Why don't you check yourself," Aithne snapped, grabbing the bandages.
Kenji belches, everyone looks at him.
"Sorry? Did you want it back?"
"You know what? doesn't matter?" the man states. "The dinosaurs got out and no one bothered to tell me; they just ran. So why not? Knock yourself out."
"Ugh there's no dial tone!" Brooklynn complained after slamming the phone down on the desk.
"The landlines are down, so the radio, and cell phone service keeps cutting out." The man informed them, Aithne stands up, testing her leg and then starts to pack up what is left of the First aid box into her own bag.
"But the park obviously has a plan," Darius asked. "So what's the plan? What do we do?"
"You're asking me?" He replied pointing to himself and starts laughing. "Asking me?"
The laughing get worse, Aithne steps closer to the others.
"Is that, like a good freaky laugh?" Sammy asked.
"Sammy when has there ever been a freaky laugh be a good sign," Aithne questioned, putting her bag back on.
"Do you not get it?" the man stand up suddenly. "We're doomed, no one is coming to help!"
"But want about Doctor Wu," Kenji added.
"Wu? Who do you think is to blame? Wu go greedy, and instead of dinosaurs, he built monsters!" He gestures to one of the incubators, he walks towards the closest one and picks up one of the eggs. "Masrani, Dearing, they're all clueless about what's really going on here. And after everything I did for the other guys-"
"Other guys?" Brooklynn cut in. "What other-"
"It doesn't matter, does it?," he turns to face them after putting the egg back. "Jurassic world isn't a park, it's a powder keg, and it is detonating all around us! We're all going down. End of story!"
"No, you have to know what to do," Darius stated. "You're an adult!"
"Don't look at me, I was just hiding until you all barged in."
"But we drove all the way here 'cause-"
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa!" He hurries to Daruis, holding him by the arms. "You have a vehicle?!"
"Yeah," Kenji replied, he points at the oldest girl. "Aithne got the- ow!"
Yasmina kicked him to shut him up, but it was too late the science guy looked at Aithne with a mad expression, she realised that the keys are not in her pocket anymore, and just before she could step back to block the keys out of sight he spots them. Aithne sprinted fast and grabs them, the man grabs her arm, and the other to get the keys out for her grip, the two wrestle back and forth, she slams him into one of the desks he lets go of her hand, grabs the lamp from before and smacks her across the face, knocking her to the floor, she could taste blood her ears rang for a short moment that she could hear muffled voice from the others calling out to her, dazed she catches him taking the keys and making a run for it.
"Aithne you alright?" Sammy asked worriedly.
"Never mind that," she spits blood onto the floor before standing up unstable but finds her balance quickly. "That bastard's got the key!"
They run after him, Aithne bust opens the door, the sun hurt their eyes from being in the dark room for some time, they carrying on running after the mad guy, he was already at the van.
"Stop! What are you doing?" Darius shouts out.
"Getting out of here alive!"
He gets into the var, and starts the engine, Yasmina runs past everyone, but Bumpy somehow gets in front of her trips her over.
"Ow!" Yaz exclaimed looking at Bumpy, the dino squeals at the Track Star. "Bumpy!" She gets up and goes after the van again.
Aithne recalls Bumpy squealing like that just before danger showed it ugly head, then it hit her.
"Stay back!" Aithne tells them, they stopped as she chases after Yasmina.
Just as Yasmina was close to the back door of the van door, Aithne grabs her.
"Yaz stop!" Aithne exclaimed, grabbing the girl by her uninjured shoulder and bring her down on the dirt road.
Before she could argue with her, the Indominus shows up from the jungle treeline, headbutting the van off the road, it was waiting for them like an ambush, they froze on the ground, but the Indominus is focused on the van, now is there chance.
"Come on!" Aithne helps Yasmina up and they run back to the others.
They watched in horror as the indominus tries to get the scientist, he escapes from the back of the van, but the Indominus was taking his time with him as it watched him climb under the van.
"Its toying with him," Aithne mutters, the Indominus effortless moves the van with it's head, it roars bring its open mouth onto the man as he screams as he gets eating. "Run! Run!"
They run into an area with huge metal containers scattered around behind the lab, some were piled on one another, an chance to have cover, but they are cut off by a huge long metal fence.
"Come on, are you kidding me?" Darius exclaimed
"Perfect!" Kenji shouts "The park's only intact fence!"
The indominus roars, they cower, it's on the move and is sounds close.
"Over here," Aithne says leading them to some rocks for cover.
They all huddle down to hide as much as they can, Aithne feels blood drip down her chin, getting an idea on how the Indominus is tracking them.
"I told you she'd in the way!" Yasmina spat at Ben as he cradles Bumpy. "If it wasn't for her, I could have made to the van!"
"And then you would have been eaten," Ben countered back. "Bumpy saved your life!"
"Why couldn't you just leave her behind?" Yasmina retorted.
"Because I won't abandon her like we were!"
Silence fell on them.
"Ben's right," daruis says. "We're on our own."
Indominus roars again, they all ducked down to the ground, that roar was close, Aithne slowly stands up, looking though a gap from the rocks, Daruis looks over her shoulder, they hear snarling approaching, indominus head comes into view, Aithne pulls Daruis down with her to get out of sight before they were spotted. Bumpy makes squeals, she is going to draw the Indominus right to them, Ben calms her down, but Aithne knows it was too late they had to move, Aithne and Daruis look around from their hiding spot to find a route out, Daruis taps her arm, she turns her head to him, he points and she see the van, it's not far, but getting pass the Indominus will be tough but its now or never.
She nods, and pulls out the gun and slowly tighten the strap on her bag like before, Daruis hand signals the others to follow, Ben places his hand on Aithne's shoulder, they both turn, the boy was terrified, Aithne glanced at all of them, they are all terrified.
"Trust us," Darius whispered.
Aithne taking the lead, they hurried across the containers silently, even Bumpy didn't make a sound, she slows down, so did they, just as Darius was about to go, Indominus appears, he hides behind a barrel, Aithne holds back whoever was behind her, who happens to be Kenji, they hear the Indominus, they hurried and hide as they hear it charging at where they were at not long ago, Kenji, Ben, and Bumpy hid behind two barrels while, Darius, Aithne, Sammy, Brooklynn and Yasmina hide at the end of the container, the Indominus was so close it was starting to smell them out, Darius gestures Kenji and Ben to move where they are hiding, but Kenji shakes his head, the Indominus's snort was creeping towards them, Darius looked around, and spots a big stone, he hands it to Aithne, understanding she puts the gun away, gets up and steps back from the girls and throws it away from them across the yard. When she hurries back to the others, a clanging sound prove affective to draw the Indominus away from the two boys and Bumpy and they hurry to regroup.
Daruis peeks around the corner, the van is so close, Aithne notices that the only chance they have it to run towards it, she runs across to the other container, gestures the other to follow and they run ahead, they are almost free. Suddenly Brooklynn trips, the tablet falls out of her hands, hitting the ground it makes loud noises, she quickly turns it off, but the damage is done, the Indominus roars, heading towards them, they run for it except for Sammy.
"Brooklynn!" Sammy calls out.
Aithne stops and turns, Sammy runs back to Brooklynn helping her up, just missing the Indominus's jaws, they ran, and it chases after them, thankful it is too big to get closer to them with the containers stopping it. Loud bangs caused the Indominus to lose interest in the girls and turns its attention to Daruis.
"Hey over here!" Daruis yells, he runs off, Indominus roars and chases after him.
Aithne runs after Indominus, the others run to the van, Kenji was at the wheel, Sammy, Brooklynn jump in the back with Ben and Bumpy.
"I'm driving," Yasmina states, shoving Kenji out of the way, turn the engine on. "Wait! Where's Aithne and Daruis?"
Needing to get the Dinosaur's attention Aithne climbs up on a container, seeing the Indominus in no time, she hear Darius's screams over the dinosaur's roar, pulling out the gun, removing the safety she fires at it, hitting it on the back, the bullet might not do any real damage, but it got its attention her the MAA Fighter.
"Hey! up here Dino-stein!" she yells firing again; it roars at her and hit the container she was standing on with its head.
She jumps down before the container fall of the pile, landing with a roll she fires the gun into the air the third time keeping the attention on her. it roars again chasing after her. Giving Darius the chance to get to the van, he get into the back, they look back to the yard waiting, hoping Aithne get out.
"Come on Aithne," Darius mutters.
She jumps over a stack of barrels, landing with a tug n roll before sprinting off, the indominus right at her heels, literally, it snaps at her, she jumps to her right making it crash into a tower of containers, taking her chance she hurries to the van now in her sights, Sammy and Ben are holding the doors, she jumps in, they close the doors behind her, Yasmina hits the gas and they drive away, they hear the Indominus roar but it quickly fades, it's given up chasing them. For now.
Aithne is laying on the floor, catching her breathe they hear the indominus roars but its not giving chase. Her whizzes turned into laughter, everyone else joined in too, she sits up, Darius gives her a high five.
"Thanks Aithne," Darius says.
"Anytime kid," she replied, before Bumpy tackles her to the floor squealing happily. "Ow Bumpy?!"
Before they could laugh again, they hear radio static.
"Kids?" Roxie voice came from the radio. "Come on pick up! there's something going on, stay at camp, we're heading to you."
Darius steps over Aithne and grabs the radio, Aithne pushes Bumpy off her and gets up.
"No, we're heading to you!" he says into the radio.
"Darius! Wait, why are you-"
Aithne takes the radio off of him.
"Roxie we are alright, but we had to leave camp."
"What?" the radio replied, hearing Dave's voice in the mix.
"Long story," Darius replied bringing the radio to him by holding Aithne's arm.
Then Yasmina grabs her arm.
"Short story: a dinosaur ate camp," she says, while still driving.
Then Kenji.
"Shorter story: epic leader Kenji somehow got everyone out safely."
And surprisingly Ben.
"And then we found a van and bumpy!"
Bumpy jumps on to Aithne's leg letting out a squeal.
"What am I a penny phone? Can I have my arm back now guys," Aithne says.
"Sorry," replied those that grabbed her arm.
"We are in the jungle heading towards the main park," Aithne informs the concealers, "Should not be long, meet ya there."
She turns off the radio.
"We're getting out of here!" Brooklynn cheered aloud.
Everyone else cheers along, Aithne rest her forehead on the front driver seat, sigh in relief, they are going home.
"Whoo! Driver En route," Yaz hailed.
"Well I did say you can drive next," Aithne added, looking up at her.
"You did," Yasmina replied, glancing back to Aithne then the road. "And… thanks, for what you did back there, you saved my neck."
"Anytime Mina," Aithne says. "But Bumpy did helped too."
"Yeah I'll thank her later, but she doesn't understand English."
"No but still," Aithne replied with a small smile.
Yasmina smiled back before going back to watching the road, Aithne looks around at the other, they are all okay, and in one piece, Brooklynn reaches her hand up toward Sammy for a high five.
"We did it, camp family," she laughs. "And not a moment too-"
The van jerked, driving over a pothole, Aithne grabs onto the front seats so she don't fall over, a small thud hit the floor when they are back on smooth road, Aithne looked at her feet, it was a phone, a pink phone.
"My phone," Brooklynn speaks with a small voice. "I knew it!"
Aithne stares at Sammy, she felt anger for what she said to Brooklynn and ashamed she fell for it, then realise all the times Yasmina stood up for her, she looks at the driver, Yasmina was not watching at the road, she's in disbelief and the look of hurt in her eyes was too noticeable to Aithne.
"Sammy?" she says, her tone sounded hoarse.
Aithne doubled take in front of the path.
"Look out!" Aithne shouts.
CRASH!
And that's chapter four, hope you lot have enjoyed it, these chapter are longer to write down then I thought, but in later chapters I'll combined some together so we can get to the good stuff and of course some of my own filler chapters, just to make things interesting.
