Chapter 11

Hoppy's Sick Day

Today is an exciting day for Hoppy Hopscotch! For the past few days, Hoppy has been training for a sports tournament known as, "The Extreme Critter Games". She had worked tirelessly to practice for the games so she could give it her all when she would compete.

To help Hoppy with her training, the Smiling Critters timed her running speed as she ran through a racetrack. Everyone cheered her on throughout her run before she dashed through the finish line.

The green rabbit took a moment to catch her breath before she asked, "Alright, so what's my time?"

"Wow! It's a new record!" Bubba exclaimed, gazing at the stopwatch in surprise. "Only 30.5 seconds!"

"Hoppy, you were amazing!" Bobby cheered. "I'm sure you would do great during the competition!"

"Yes, I have to agree with Bobby." CatNap commented before turning to Kickin with a sly grin. "You'd better be careful, Kickin! At the rate Hoppy is going, she'll easily steal the win from you!"

Kickin simply waved a dismissive hand in response. "Eh, I'm not worried! Don't forget, Hoppy isn't the only one who is training hard for this!"

"So, do you think you would be able to run through the racetrack one more time?" DogDay asked Hoppy.

"Ha! Just watch me!"

Hoppy was just about ready to run again before she suddenly began to cough. At first, it was just a simple cough, but it soon got worse as it got louder with Hoppy coughing more often. If that wasn't bad enough, her eyes started to get watery with dark circles forming underneath them. This started to worry her friends as she appeared to be really sick.

"Hey, are you okay, Hoppy? You don't look so good." Picky noticed. "You look a little green. Well, more green than you usually are."

After a couple more coughs, Hoppy spoke through a strained voice. "R-Relax! I'm fine! I must just have a dry throat."

"Um, Hoppy? I don't think that's a dry throat." Crafty explained. "I think you might be sick."

"Nonsense! I'm perfectly fine! Now, come on, Bubba! Start the timer and-"

Unfortunately for Hoppy, she wasn't able to say another word before she collapsed on the ground.

"Hoppy!"

Everyone used over to Hoppy's aid to make sure she was okay. It was at this point when the Smiling Critters knew that Hoppy's sickness was a lot worse than they thought, so they decided to take her home, where she could rest.

Once everyone brought Hoppy back home, Bubba took Hoppy's temperature to discover that she had a fever. The Smiling Critters did everything they could to help out there friend whether it was placing a cold towel on her head, handing her a box of tissues, or making soup for her to taste.

Despite her friends best efforts, nothing could help Hoppy feel better, knowing that she is unable to participate in the Extreme Critters Games. Even Kickin felt disappointed that he won't be able to face off with a worthy opponent in the tournament. Unable to be consoled, Hoppy just told her friends that she wanted to be left alone.

The hours ticked by as Hoppy was alone in her home with nothing to do. Tissues were scattered across Hoppy's room, which was filled with sounds of Hoppy coughing and sneezing. It was at this point when Hoppy was bored out of her mind, so she buried her head in her pillow out of frustration.

"This is the worst! Of all the days for me to get sick, why did it have to be on the day of the Extreme Critter Games?!" Hoppy complained to herself.

Suddenly, Hoppy was surprised to hear knocking on her bedroom door. As much as Hoppy wanted to be alone, she knew that one of her friends wouldn't stop knocking until they knew she was okay.

Hoppy gave a couple more coughs before she said, "Come in."

The door soon opened before Bobby stepped in to see how her friend was doing.

"Hi, Hoppy!" Bobby gave a friendly wave. "How are you feeling?"

"Awful! Not only am I sick, but I'm missing out on the coolest sports competition ever! I hope my sickness would go away already. I just can't take it any, ah, ah, ah-" Feeling another sneeze Hoppy grabbed another tissue before she blew her nose. Frustrated, she laid down, defeated on her bed. "This day is the worst!"

"Not to worry! This is why I'm here!" Bobby declared with a smile. "Nurse Bobby BearHug is here to make you feel all better!"

"You?" Hoppy gazed at Bobby with a tired expression. "No offense, Bobby, but you're wasting your time. I already reached my lowest point. What could you possibly do to help me?"

"Well, for one thing, your room is a mess! I think it's time to clean around here! We wouldn't want you to risk getting even more sick!"

Taking out a broom and dustpan, Bobby dusted away the tissues all over the floor, and placed them in a trashcan, along with any other trash she could find. With everything picked up, she proceeded to organize all of Hoppy's sports equipment to make her room nice and tidy.

It wasn't long before everything was organized, so Bobby decided to let some light in the room by opening up the blinds. The sudden brightness of the sun beamed down on Hoppy, causing her to hiss, as if she was a vampire.

"There! All better!" Bobby smiled, happy with how much better the room now looks.

"Great, so does that mean you can leave now?" Hoppy asked, wanting to be alone.

"Of course not, silly! You still need to take your medicine!" Bobby replied, showing Hoppy a spoon, along with a bottle of medicine.

Taking the contents of the bottle, Bobby poured the medicine on the spoon as she got ready to feed it to Hoppy. As the spoon got closer, Hoppy took a whiff of the medicine, causing her to gag from how awful it smelled.

"There is no way you are putting that in my mouth!" Hoppy protested, only for Bobby to take her by surprise and shove the spoon in her mouth.

Somehow, the medicine tasted worse than it smelled. It was the most disgusting thing Hoppy tasted. She wanted to throw the medicine back up, but it was already shoved down her throat.

After getting over her disgust, Hoppy glared at Bobby and yelled, "Are you trying to poison me?!"

"No, I'm trying to help you! Taking this medicine is the only way for you to feel better!" Bobby explained.

Desperate to get out of here, Hoppy stood on her feet and said, "Hey, would you look at that! The medicine must be working already! You really are a miracle worker, Bobby! Guess I'll just be on my way!"

A couple more coughs escaped from Hoppy, proving that she was lying this whole time. Out of desperation, Hoppy made a dash to her bedroom door in an attempt to leave. Unfortunately for Hoppy, she wasn't able to get the door opened as she realized that Bobby locked it the moment she entered.

"Sorry, Hoppy. I expected you to pull a stunt like this, so I came prepared!" Bobby said, taking out a pink blanket.

At that moment, Bobby began to swaddle up Hoppy in the blanket before taking her back to her bed. Hoppy looked down to see that her entire body was cocooned in the blanket, leaving her head that was the only part of her body that was free. All Hoppy could do now was struggle in desperation, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't free herself from the blanket.

"Come on, Bobby! Just let me go already!" Hoppy yelled.

"Aww! But Hoppy, you look so cute all swaddled up like this!" Bobby smiled.

With a deadpanned expression, Hoppy replied, "Don't patronize me."

Now that Hoppy wasn't going anywhere anytime soon, Bobby reached into her bag and took out a book. Curious, Hoppy squinted her eyes to see that the book had a cover with a picture of a princess holding hands with a prince, along with a title that read, "Happy Endings Really Do Come True."

"Well, in order to help you get through the day, how about I read you a story?" Bobby offered. "It's called, 'Happy Endings Really Do Come True.' Has anyone ever read that book to you before?"

"Uh, yeah! When I was like two!" Hoppy retorted. "Isn't that book for babies?"

"Um, technically, yes. Still, I really loved this book as a child, and I guess it's still one of my favorite stories! Now, why don't we get started?" Bobby took a seat next to Hoppy and opened the book before clearing her throat. "Once upon a time in a magical kingdom, there lived a beautiful princess."

Shutting her eyes tightly, Hoppy groaned in annoyance, "Ugh! This is torture!"

Bobby simply ignored Bobby as she continued the story. "The princess had a wonderful life, but longed for a prince to marry."

Throughout the story, Hoppy cringed at how sweet and cutesy it was. She wanted nothing more than to cover her ears, but her paws were trapped underneath the soft, but restrictive fabric of the blanket, so she couldn't do anything other than listen to the rest of the story.

A few minutes felt like hours to Hoppy. The more she was forced to listen to the story, the more she struggled to escape. Despite Hoppy's struggles, Bobby was still insistent on reading the rest of the story to her. After a few more moments, the story came to an end, much to Hoppy's relief.

"And they all lived happily ever after! The End!" Bobby closed the book as she finished the story. "So, what did you think of the story?"

In response, Hoppy felt her eye twitch from being forced to listen to the story for so long. She couldn't have been anymore humiliated. First, she was swaddled up like a baby, and now she was read a children's story book when she could have used this time to train for the games.

"That's it! I can't take it anymore! I have to get out of here!"

Out of desperation, Hoppy rolled to the side of her bed before falling on the floor. With the blanket still wrapped around her, Hoppy moved across the floor one inch at a time, like a worm. Despite Hoppy's best efforts, Bobby easily managed to catch up by casually walking towards her.

"Listen, Hoppy. I understand that you want to go to the Extreme Critter Games, but please understand that I just want to make you feel better." Bobby tried to reason with Hoppy.

"There is nothing you can do to help me! Sick or not, I'm going to the games!"

As Hoppy continued her futile efforts to escape, Bobby couldn't help but feel that her efforts to take care of Hoppy was only making everything worse. It was at that moment when Bobby thought of an idea, so she grabbed Hoppy and placed her on the bed once more.

"I think I know just how to make your sick day better! I just need to get a couple of things! I'll be right back!" Hoppy said before leaving Hoppy's house.

With Hoppy now alone in her room, she took the opportunity to free herself from her blanket prison. After a few minutes of struggling, Hoppy was finally able to unwrap herself.

"Ha! Ha! Yes! Finally!" Hoppy cheered in victory before standing up from her bed.

She was just about ready to leave when she heard footsteps heading to her room. Knowing that it was Bobby, Hoppy started to panic before rushing back to her bed. In an effort to cover her tracks, she wrapped the blanket around her to the best of her ability.

The door to Hoppy's bedroom opened as Bobby stepped in once more with her bag filled with more books that Hoppy dreaded to find out what they were. After all that she went through today, another princess story was the last thing she needed.

"Good news, Hoppy! I just bought something that I know you would love!" Bobby smiled, reaching into her bag.

"No! No! Please! Not another fairy tale! I can't-"

Hoppy opened her eyes and was surprised by what she saw. Instead of more fairy tale books, Hoppy was surprised to see Bobby pull out what appeared to be sports magazines. Seeing this confused Hoppy as she wasn't sure what to say.

"I know how much you love sports, so I bought these magazines for you so that you can keep yourself entertained." Bobby explained, handing Hoppy one of the magazines.

Surprised by this unexpected turn of events, Hoppy took the magazine, which had a cover of soccer players. "Um, thanks, Bobby. That was actually really nice of you."

Bobby smiled as she was glad that she was finally able to make Hoppy happy. "I'm glad that you like it! I know that I haven't been the best at taking care of you, but I want to change that and keep you entertained with stuff I know you would like! Oh, that reminds me! I have one more surprise for you. I bought this DVD set for you. I haven't heard of this movie until now, but I hope you like it."

At that moment, Bobby showed Hoppy a DVD box that had a bunch of critters on the cover playing various sports and a title that read, "Sports Insanity 2." Seeing this caused Hoppy to let out an excited gasp before she held the DVD set in her paws.

"No way! You got me Sports Insanity 2?! I loved the first one so much!" Hoppy exclaimed.

"Then what are we waiting for? Let's watch the movie together!" Bobby suggested.

With that, Bobby put in the DVD as the movie began to play. Throughout the movie, critters have been playing sports in the most extreme ways whether it was jet skiing away from sharks, running a marathon with explosions everywhere, or playing basketball on the moon. While Hoppy was excited throughout the movie, Bobby struggled to understand what was going on. Despite that, Bobby was just glad that Hoppy was having a fun time. After a couple of hours, the movie came to an end as the credits rolled.

"That was awesome!" Hoppy exclaimed. "Did you like it too, Bobby?"

"Uh," Bobby didn't know what to think of the movie as it seemed too intense for her tastes. "It was nice."

Hoppy could tell that her friend was lying, but still appreciated what she did for her. "Hey, it's okay! I know Sports Insanity 2 isn't for everyone. I still appreciate what you did for me."

"It was my pleasure. I swore to give you a fun day, and that's what I'm going to do." Bobby promised.

Hoppy chuckled, "You know, Bobby! You're actually pretty cool! I really had a fun time with you today!" Hoppy's smile soon faded when she thought about the Extreme Critter Games. "It's just too bad I would eventually miss the Extreme Critter Games."

It was at that moment when Bobby started to feel bad for her friend. She knew how much this meant to Hoppy, especially after all the training she had done to prepare.

"Hey, it'll be okay! I'm sure you can have just as much fun with me! Why don't we watch some tv to help get your mind off of it?"

Taking the remote, Bobby pressed a button as the tv was switched to the news channel. This showed a raccoon reporter with a crowd of critters in the background.

"We're here at the Extreme Critter Games, where it would be an event to remember!" The reporter announced. "Out of everyone here, no one seems more excited than Kickin Chicken of the Smiling Critters." The camera soon moved to the side to reveal Kickin standing next to the reporter. "Now Kickin, is there anything you would like to say to all your fans?"

"Actually, there is one thing I would like to say." Kickin spoke up. "I would like to dedicate this moment to my good friend, Hoppy Hopscotch, who couldn't make it due to a terrible sickness. Hoppy, if you're watching this, I know you are tough enough to fight through this illness, and don't feel too bad about missing the games. There's always next year! Anyway, let's get these games started!"

At that moment, Bobby immediately turned off the tv, leaving her and Hoppy in awkward silence. Even though the tv was off, Hoppy still continued to glance at the tv in a distant stare. All she could think about was how she would end up missing the games.

"Hoppy? Are you feeling okay?" Bobby asked, noticing how quiet Hoppy was.

Suddenly, Hoppy collapsed on her knees, clutching her stomach.

"Ooh, I don't feel so good!"

Worried for her friend, Bobby kneeled down to her level. "Hoppy, what's wrong?!"

"I feel so sick. I think I'm going to-" Hoppy placed a paw over her mouth. "Bobby, please take me to the bathroom. I can't make it there on my own."

"Oh, okay." Bobby tried to stay calm to help her friend. "Where is it?"

"Right behind that door." Hoppy pointed towards a nearby door.

Wasting no time, Bobby helped Hoppy up and carried her to the door. She quickly opened the door and turned on the lights. Much to Bobby's surprise, the room she was in didn't seem to be a bathroom at all. There was no sink, toilet, or bathtub. All she could find were a few winter clothes hanging on the wall. It took a few moments for Bobby to realize what was going on.

"Wait a minute. This isn't a bathroom. It's a closet."

"Sorry about this, Bobby." Bobby heard Hoppy behind her before she felt Hoppy tackle her to the floor.

Reaching out for a couple of her jump ropes, Hoppy began to tie up Bobby, pinning her arms and legs together. Surprised by what just happened, but tried to struggle to free herself from the ropes, but they were too tight.

"Hoppy, what are you doing?!"

"Look, this isn't anything personal. I just can't go another minute waiting to go to the Extreme Critter Games. I worked hard for this and I can't risk having you stop me." Hoppy explained.

"B-But, I thought we were actually having a fun time together." Bobby stuttered with a hurt expression, only making Hoppy feel even more guilty for her actions.

"I really did have fun with you, Bobby. This is just something I have to do."

"Hoppy, please listen to me! You are not well enough to compete in the games! You're going to get yourself-"

Before Bobby could say another word, Hoppy tied a white cloth over her mouth to keep her quiet. "I'm really sorry about this, Bobby. I'll come back to let you out later." Hoppy finished securing the gag around Bobby's mouth before she turned to leave.

"Hppgh, plss dnt dh ths!" Bobby tried to reason with Hoppy, but the cloth muffled all of her words.

After closing the closet door, Hoppy decided that it was time for her to hurry to the games. She rushed to the front door of her house and opened it to be greeted by an unexpected visitor. Hoppy was left surprised when she was face to face with DogDay.

"D-DogDay? Wh-What are you doing here?" Hoppy stuttered.

"I came to check on you to see how you were doing, Hoppy." DogDay explained. "I really wasn't expecting to see you out of bed."

With a nervous smile, Hoppy said, "Oh, yeah. It turns out, Bobby is really good at treating sick patients, so I feel so much better!"

Unfortunately for Hoppy, she started to feel a cough coming at the worst possible time, so she covered her mouth with both paws as she began having a coughing spell right in front of DogDay. Seeing this caused DogDay to get suspicious as he had a feeling that Hoppy wasn't telling the truth.

"Uh, okay. Where is Bobby, anyway?"

"Oh, you know! She went back home after a hard day's work!" Hoppy lied, slowly making her way out her house. "Now if you'll excuse me, I have a competition to win! Oh, and don't look in my closet! There is nothing in there, if that's what you're thinking! See ya!"

With that, Hoppy dashed away to make it to the competition in time. As he watched Hoppy run away, DogDay couldn't help but notice that she appeared to be struggling just to keep her balance. It was at this point when DogDay knew that something was wrong.

DogDay was about to follow Hoppy before he heard muffled yells coming from nearby. He looked around, confused before he searched around to where the yells were coming from. It wasn't long before he was led to a nearby door, so he opened it and was surprised to see Bobby bound and gagged in Hoppy's closet.

"DgDgh!" Bobby tried calling out for DogDay.

"Bobby!" DogDay gasped in shock before rushing over to her and untying the gag from her mouth. "Are you okay?"

Now that she was able to speak, Bobby gave DogDay a grateful smile.

"I am! Thank you, DogDay! Listen, we need to go after Hoppy! She's still sick, but she's still insistent of going to the Extreme Critter Games!"

"Oh no! I should have realized Hoppy was faking when I spoke to her." DogDay said, freeing Bobby from the jump ropes wrapped around her.

After DogDay untied her, Bobby stood back up. "We'd better help her. She could get hurt in her weakened state. Let's go!"

While Bobby and DogDay began their search, Hoppy ran through the grass fields as fast as she could. This only overwhelmed her as she started to feel dizzy. Despite that, she continued to push herself since she was able to see the arena where the games are held.

It wasn't long before Hoppy suddenly stopped in her tracks as she took notice of a mysterious figure hiding in the shadows. It appeared to be the silhouette of some kind of giant cat. Confused by what she was looking at, Hoppy rubbed her eyes and blinked a couple of times to see that the mysterious figure was gone, to which she gave a relieved sigh in response.

"Get a hold of yourself, Hoppy! Your sickness is just causing you to see things." Hoppy told herself. "Just keep on going. You're almost there."

Meanwhile at the arena, countless critters gathered in their seats, each of them excited for the games to start. After getting snacks for her and her friends, Picky sat down next to the rest of the Smiling Critters to enjoy the games.

"I'm back! Hope I didn't miss anything!" Picky said before handing snacks to each of her friends.

"Not at all, Picky! They are just about ready to begin!" Bubba replied, taking a pretzel to eat.

"I still feel bad for Hoppy though." Crafty sighed. "She was really looking forward to competing."

"Don't feel too bad, Crafty. Bobby is taking care of Hoppy this very moment, and knowing her, she'll make sure Hoppy is able to keep her mind off the games." CatNap assured.

As he was talking, CatNap used his long tail to sneakily swipe a piece of popcorn Picky was about to eat without her noticing. She was about to eat it, but realized it was gone, much to her confusion. Picky merely shrugged before reaching for another piece.

Picky grabbed another piece as she said, "CatNap is right. I'm sure Hoppy is having a fun time back home." Picky brought her attention back to the game before she took notice of a familiar face. "Speaking of which, doesn't that green rabbit down there kind look like Hoppy?"

Confused, Bubba took a closer look to where Picky was pointing. "Wait a minute. That is Hoppy!"

It was at that moment when the rest of the Smiling Critters took a closer look as well to see Hoppy rushing towards the center of the arena. Despite her speed, she still appeared to be sick, like she was going to pass out at any moment. Seeing this left the Smiling Critters surprised by this turn of events.

"Well, this is a bit unexpected." CatNap commented, placing the piece of popcorn in his mouth.

"What is Hoppy doing here? Isn't she supposed to be recovering back home?" Crafty asked.

As the Smiling Critters wondered what was going on, Hoppy made her way to the center of the arena, where she met up with the rest of the contestants. In the midst of the crowd of critters, Kickin was surprised to see Hoppy here as well.

"Hey, you made it after all!" Kickin exclaimed.

"You know it!" Hoppy replied with her eyes drowsy from her sickness. "There is no way I would miss out on this!"

"Then I hope you're ready! Don't think that just because you recovered from being ill, that means I'm going to take it easy on you!" Kickin gave Hoppy a smirk.

"Heh! I wouldn't expect anything less from you!" Hoppy grinned.

It wasn't long before a bell rang, announcing the start of the games. Each of the contestants faced off with each other in various games, whether it was racing, basketball, or tennis.

Throughout the games, Hoppy did her best to show her opponents her athletic sports skills. Her victories should have been easy, but her sickness caused her to cough or sneeze at the worst possible times. Despite that, she was still able to win against her opponents, but just barely.

This went on until Kickin and Hoppy both made it to the final round. Here, they stood face to face with each other as they got ready to compete in the last game of the competition.

"This has been one intense competition this year!" The announce spoke up. "Now it comes to one last round between Kickin Chicken and Hoppy Hopscotch! It's time to see who the victor would be as they face off in one last game of soccer!"

This felt like a guaranteed win for Hoppy as soccer was her main game. She knew that she would win easily if she just stayed focused. Unfortunately, it was hard for her to concentrate as her illness started to get worse by the minute. Even Kickin started to notice that Hoppy wasn't looking so good.

"Hey, are you sure you are feeling okay?" Kickin whispered.

"Yeah, yeah! Let's just get this game started!" Hoppy said, wanting to get through this last game.

Soon, Bobby and DogDay were finally able to make their way into the stadium, both of them searching for their friend. As he searched for Hoppy, DogDay brought his attention to the center of the arena before taking notice of Hoppy.

"Bobby, look! There's Hoppy over there!" DogDay pointed towards Hoppy.

"Oh, good! I'm glad she didn't end up hurting herself!" Bobby sighed in relief. "Let's hurry before the game starts!"

Everyone watched in anticipation as the final game was about to start. Right before Kickin and Hoppy could start though, Bobby appeared at the center of the arena at the last moment.

"STOP!" Bobby yelled, much to the confusion of everyone watching the game.

"Bobby?" Hoppy turned around in confusion upon hearing the familiar voice of her friend. "Don't try to stop me, Bobby! I'm so close to winning!"

Bobby ran through the arena until she was face to face with Hoppy. "Hoppy, please listen to me. You're only making your sickness worse by forcing yourself to play through these games. You need to stop."

Hoppy looked down, lost in thought before shutting her eyes tightly. "I-I can't! Can't you see I made it to the final round? I've come too far to quit just like that!"

"It's not quitting. It's just knowing when enough is enough. I know that you worked hard for this, but we all know how great of a sports player you really are." Bobby explained, much to Hoppy's surprise. "I don't want to see you hurt because I really care about you." Witnessing this heartwarming moment caused everyone in the crowd to go, "Aww." in response. "Please, Hoppy. I just want you to be okay."

Taking Bobby's words into consideration, Hoppy knew that she had to make a tough choice. She soon turned around, bringing her attention back to Kickin.

"Well, guess you need to know when to call it quits." Hoppy smiled. "I forfeit."

"Wait, really?!" Kickin asked as he never thought he'd see the day where Hoppy would admit defeat.

"That's right! Congratulations, Kickin! You're now the winner of the Extreme Critter Games!" Hoppy announced.

That was when everyone in the crowd began to cheer for Kickin. As happy as he was that he won, Kickin secretly wished that he could have had one last match with Hoppy to make his win feel earned. While everyone was cheering for their new winner, Hoppy walked away with Bobby's arm wrapped around her back.

"I'm so proud of you, Hoppy!" Bobby exclaimed.

"Thanks, Bobby." Hoppy replied with a weak grin. "And sorry for tying you up earlier."

"It's okay! Why don't we just get you back home so you can rest?" Bobby led Hoppy out of the arena and back to her home.

For the last few days, Bobby continued to take care of Hoppy during her time of need. Everyday, Hoppy started to get better and better until she fully recovered. Now, she was able to hang out with her friends outdoors once again.

Once she recovered from her sickness, Hoppy decided to pay Bobby a visit to thank her for all that she had done for her. Hoppy made her way to Bobby's house before knocking on the front door.

"C-Come in." Bobby spoke from the other side in a voice that was a little quieter from her normal happy and energetic tone.

Concerned, Hoppy slowly opened the door to find Bobby laying down on a nearby couch. She turned to face Hoppy with a weak smile.

"H-Hi, H-Hoppy."

"Hey, uh, are you feeling alright, Bobby? You don't look so good." Hoppy noticed.

"Oh, I'm fine. Just a little under the weather." Bobby soon began to cough as Hoppy realized what was going on.

"Oh no. You just caught my sickness, didn't you?" Hoppy realized.

"Oh, don't worry about me. Nothing a little rest can't cure." Bobby assured.

Hoppy couldn't help but feel bad for her friend. Bobby went through all the trouble of helping Hoppy feel better, but now Bobby caught the same illness she had. Suddenly, Hoppy's eyes widened as she thought of an idea.

"Hey, why don't I take care of you and help you get through your sickness?" Hoppy suggested.

"You would really do that for me?" Bobby asked with a grateful smile.

Hoppy nodded. "Of course! Looks like this time, Nurse Hoppy Hopscotch is here to make you feel all better!"

For the past few hours, Hoppy did everything she could to make Bobby feel better by providing Bobby with a box of tissues, wrapping her in a comfortable blanket, and giving her medicine whenever she needed it. The effort Hoppy took to take care of Bobby helped her feel much better.

"So, how are you feeling?" Hoppy asked.

"Much better! Thank you so much, Hoppy! You're a wonderful nurse!" Bobby smiled.

In response, Hoppy looked away with a shy smile. "Well, I learned from the best!"

Suddenly, Hoppy took notice of something on a nearby shelf. Upon taking a closer look, she realized that it was the fairy tale book Bobby read to her earlier. Taking the book in her paws, Hoppy thought of a way to keep Bobby entertained.

"Hey, Bobby. How would you feel if I read you your favorite book?"

Touched that Hoppy was willing to read her favorite story to her, Bobby asked, "Hoppy, you're really willing to do this for me?"

Hoppy couldn't help but blush as she shyly looked away. "Um, sure. Just promise that you won't tell any of our friends about this, alright?" At that moment, Hoppy took a seat next to Bobby before she began to read. "Once upon a time in a magical kingdom, there lived a beautiful princess."

AN: Well, that's the end of the new chapter of my story! I have actually been looking forward to writing a chapter focusing on Bobby and Hoppy's friendship for awhile, so this was a fun chapter for me to write! I hope everyone is enjoying the story so far, and I hope to publish the next chapter soon!
