Title: Running Down - Sequel To 'Fragmented'

Rating: G

Written For: Challenge 308 – Multitasking at tw100

Spoilers: Nada.

Summary: The effects of the alien tech are finally wearing off.

Disclaimer: I don't own Torchwood, or the characters.

A/N: A final pair of drabbles to complete this story. Posted together because they work better that way and it saves me coming up with another title, both parts are exactly 100 words each.

I love Janto: Yeah, Jack's suffering from Ianto's current state a lot more than Ianto is. The rest of the team aren't even trying to look at him, it's too disturbing!

Thank you!

Guest: Hopefully this one will give a clearer picture of how Ianto appears at the moment to the rest of the team and just why it's so disturbing to see. Ianto will need a long rest after this! At least he'll habe time for it now his work is done.

I adore Tosh, she went through so much but was so underused, pushed to one side a lot of the time. So much more could have been done with her. Tommy was sweet, but so tragic. Mary, I really wished she had been a nice character rather than a manipulative alien. It would have been good to see an alien character in a positive light instead of another evil one. (Thanks for the Birthday wishes!)

We'll have to agree to disagree here, I loved the 50th anniversary episode, though I do agree the VM was a cheap way of having Jack's presence without creating a role for him and was a bit of a plot device. I could ignore that for the sheer joy of John Hurt as the War Doctor, and Eleven and Ten sparking off each other, among other things. It wasn't perfect, but it was certainly entertaining. For me at least. Having Tom Baker in it too, even as a small cameo, made my day. I grew up with the Third and Fourth Doctors.

CoE: Yes, definitely, though I can see Jack confronting the 456 for his own reasons, alone, especially as he knows he sacrificed the children to them back in '65 - it gets him a better look at the enemy than the video link provided, and he can take their measure better in person. That said, of course, it's giving the script entirely too much credit because such thoughts would never have crossed the writers' minds. RTD seemed determined to make Jack completely incompetent in an effort to make Gwen look better. It failed. Jack's behaviour came across as completely out of character through most of the mini-series, Ianto went from hyper-competent (getting reflective jacket and hard hat before driving the JCB? Go Ianto!) to a complete idiot. He knew there was at least one hazmat suit at Thames House but didn't bother to equip himself properly? Never would have happened. Gwen was even less competent than usual. Despite knowing she was among the most wanted, she made no attempt to disguise herself and looked directly into the CCTV while very obviously making it blank out. If Ianto hadn't shown up, she and Rhys would have been captured, he had to rescue both of them too because of Gwen's idiocy.

Capaldi will have to work hard to overcome the shadow of Frobisher. Plus, he's OLDER than me! It's going to be a physically demanding role for him, is he fit enough at his age?

Owen was the first to notice that Ianto was starting to look less fragmented and more… together. There seemed to be more of him existing in one place, as if the fragments were being pulled back together. Instead of just seeing a hand, there was a whole arm and shoulder visible and sometimes, both legs were in the expected place at the same time. If you didn't look any higher than his knees, you could almost believe that all of Ianto was walking across the Hub. It seemed whatever the alien tech had done to him was gradually wearing off.

Soon it was clear that from doing a dozen things at once, Ianto was down to just two or three.

Tosh managed to scan Ianto in bits and confirmed that the strange energy he'd absorbed was dissipating. After almost seven hours, he was finally slowing, like a clockwork toy running down.

In due course, he ground to a halt and stood, wavering slightly, in the middle of the Hub.

"Well, that was different."

"How d'you feel, mate?" Owen asked.

"Tired. Think I'll join Jack for a lie down."

.

Jack had never been more grateful to see just one complete Ianto.
