HARRY POTTER IS BROKEN
I don't own Harry Potter. I do own the story and any original characters that I create. I seek no profit from my writings in the Harry Potter Universe. The rights are owned by J K Rowling and whoever happens to own Warner Bros.
Harry Potter returns to 4 Privet Drive a broken boy. He's seen another boy callously cut down in front of him, he's been forced to duel Voldemort, seen the ghosts of his parents and been told how proud they are of him. Then Dumbledore makes him return to Durzkaban, instead of spending the Summer with Sirius. Harry is emotionally exhausted.
At 15, Harry did not know a lot of things. He had no idea about the prophecy. He did not know about horcrux. He does not know why his scar hurts when he's around one. The prophecy is in one of James notes in his Journal. Sirius has been recuperating at a Health Spa his family owns in the South of France. It's not far from Beauxbatons and a fairly major Veela colony. Sirius still feels guilty that he was not the Secret Keeper.
Harry Potter went back in time again, starting as the 15-month-old toddler left on the Dursley doorstep. He's at Durmstrang, now, after his suspension from Hogwarts.
I have never stayed at the Sheraton on Times Square. Any connection to reality is entirely unintended. Barrelson and Partners at Law are ficticious, as far as I know, and do not have offices in the Twin Towers.
Part of this chapter is inspired by Robst's Who Would Fill a Cowards Grave.
Harrison James Potter had been listening to a Will reading of Lord Charlus Potter, his Great Uncle, as it applied to the assets of House Potter outside of magical Britain. Harry, as he resolved only to consider himself, had not expected to be spending the day after Boxing Day meeting with his American lawyer. Harry suspected that Mr Chester Barratt would much rather be sitting at home relaxing with his family.
"Chester, you said I own 7 out of the 11 International Schools of Magic. Why don't I own them all?"
Chester smiled. "Your family owned the other 4 during the 19th century. Lord Charlus felt such a position was wrong. You've still got a substantial share of the ones that have had some shares sold. Hogwarts is a special case.
Hogsmeade was Kingdom of Wessex Barony. The Baron endowed Hogwarts with land on which to build a school. It was a Castle that he no longer wanted. Too big, too expensive and a waste of money, too. His son was the last of the English Barons. Name of Philip. Got enamoured of Rowena Ravenclaw's daughter Helena. She fled, taking the Diadem of her mother's with her. He killed her, killed himself, leaving his squire to make the journey back to Hogwarts with the Diadem. The Scottish king took Hogsmeade-Hogwarts and declared himself its Lord. The Charter gave certain powers to the dozen governors. These governors became Scottish after a Royal decree that English nobles could not own land or property in Scotland.
When King Edward III took the Scottish lowlands, he conferred Hogsmeade-Hogwarts to his First Magical Lord, Lord Linfred the Potterer, your ancestor. By 1450, Hogwarts was under the third seventh son of the seventh son. Your family owned lands and estates in Scotland, England, Wales, Ireland and France. Some of your Irish relatives fled to the lands that would form Spain. They earned lands for themselves there and would follow Spain as it expanded all around the globe.
The Scottish branch of your family got itself wiped out. It supported the Black Douglas. He lost and they did, too. Hogwarts, the Scots could not take. That did not stop them trying. During the Protectorate, your family stopped using the title Baron Hogwarts. It's one of the many titles, you've inherited. There was a de facto hereditary Chairman of the Board of Governors… a Potter, due to a Potter always being in attendance at Hogwarts.
One of your ancestors narrowly avoided getting executed just after the Restoration of Charles II. Your family never really got on with the Stuarts. Their exterminating the Scottish branch of your family may have had something to do with it. Your family were one of those who invited William of Orange over to take the throne. Later, they supported George of Hannover's claim. Lands in Hannover followed and by extension Prussia and Germany.
Your French branches of the family were wiped out by the Revolution, aside for one lad who escaped. The Head of the families of Potters refused to flee. He averred that he would not be chased off his land by mere peasant rabble. Napoleon restored the lands and titles to that lad. He added others, too. You had branches in Quebec that became English, in Louisiana that became American.
The Great War thinned your ranks. Grindelwald killed all your American family, which is where Lord Charlus came in. Between 1920 and 1950 the once thriving and vibrant Potter family that had followed where Empires had expanded had contracted to just two branches. Now it is just you. Oh, you've squibs, but magicals do not count them.
The evidence we have suggests a Dumbledore involvement in the many murders. Direct proof is not available."
"I know he had Snape murder my family. Dragon Pox? In a family that invented the cure? And always carried the antidote? We need the identities of those who did the killing. Grindelwald paid for his actions against my family. The killers and their families will pay for theirs."
"Anything else?"
"Reclaim the lands and properties of my family. Take back control of Potter Inc. The current managers who think themselves Directors are immediately fired as Directors. Their shares revert. All the shares illegally issued cease to be." Harry did not know, if this was legal. "I really do not want to owe the US government $15m on land I own. Is this Emmie domain really a valid thing? If they don't use the land, can they take out another long lease on it?" Harry knew he was rambling. He wondered, if that was because he was hungry.
"Lord Potter, why don't you let me handle everything. Come back in at 09:00 on New Year's Eve and I'll give you an update. Haven't you already dealt with your company?"
"Yes, but I've changed my mind, since they are fighting me on this." Harry let confusion appear across his brow. Why had they decided to fight him? Were they thinking that he was but a child who did not understand things?
Harry left, feeling slightly discouraged after the meeting. He met up with the Grangers and told them about the meeting. Harry missed seeing Mrs Granger and Hermione exchange a glance. Even had he seen the glance, he did not know them well enough to see the full on research mode on both their faces. Mr Granger had. When they were alone, he'd be asking what was going on.
Harry did not know what to make of it all. The Potter family was magical, powerful, in many countries and with so many titles. That was then. Now, it was just him. Albus Dumbledore had seen to it, Harry felt sure. The only thing was, Harry could not work out Albus' motivation for destroying his family. Did either of the versions of A History of Magic that he had hold the answer?
Harry stayed up late seeking an answer. He did not find it. Breakfast was a sombre affair. The sightseeing tour of New York restored Harry's spirits. He explained to Hermione what the issue was. Hermione looked pleased that Harry was opening up to her. They had a fun day, exploring and sightseeing.
Back in the hotel, Harry continued to search, after dinner. There, He'd found it. The Gunpowder Plot. The Dumledores had supported the plot. Houses Potter and Black were instrumental in catching them. The then Lord and his eldest son were executed. The family was barred from ever holding a Wizengamot seat in their own right and they could never use a wizarding bank.
The private edition of the book described how Dumbledore and Grindelwald met shortly after Grindelwald had been expelled from Durmstrang. They had agreed to the plot to take over the world according to the Greater Good idea. Grindelwald had taken on board Dumbledore's hatred of House Potter. Grindelwald had been the primary executioner of Potters the world over. He and his Knights of Walpurgis.
There had been a thirty-year period after Albus Dumbledore left Hogwarts as a Student and became Transfiguration professor. He worked for and with Nicholas Flamel. His major work had been the 12 Uses of Dragon Blood. Flamel had taught Alchemy at Hogwarts. If anyone would know of the company Albus had kept, it was Flamel. Harry would write to him asking for those details.
Mr Granger agreed to write to his relatives asking about House Potter and their holdings and titles. He did not think that they would neither respond nor provide any relevant information. Mrs Granger and Hermione smiled. They would have good news to tell Harry on the morrow.
Harry went to sleep feeling that he was making progress. He fell asleep, pleased. In hindsight that might have been a mistake. Tempting fate, if you will.
Harry awoke. He was aware that he was not in New York. He could tell this from the plate that identified the room as Hogwarts Infirmary and by the name etched into the wood above Harry's rather uncomfortable pillow as Harry's bed. Harry recognized the scrawl as his own.
Memories that were not his cascaded into Harry. It was the end of the Fourth Year at Hogwarts. He was the Tri-Wizard Champion, which had 4 Champions due to Barty Crouch Jr confounding the Goblet of Fire. He'd had his soul sucked out by one of the two Dementors attending Fudge. This was quite illegal. He'd been stuck in the Infirmary until the end of year, like in second year after killing the Basilisk. Dumbledore said so. He'd be returning to the Dursleys, because Dumbledore said so. Clearly the Harry in this dimension had not killed Dumbledore. Harry had also not gone to Nurmengard. Harry hid not have the portkey to there, on him. The date was Thursday 29th June 1995. By the trim on his uniform, this Harry was in Gryffindor.
Harry got dressed. He felt restless. He wandered around. He was close to the entrance hall on the massive double doors. He saw a girl with hair the colour of Malfoys looking for something.
"Hello," Harry said.
"Hello," the girl said. Harry looked down and saw she was wearing two left shoes.
"Where is your right shoe?"
"The nargles have taken them."
"I'm Harry Potter. I'll help you look."
"You've a lot fewer nargles and wrackspurts around you today, than you usually do."
"Do your shoes go missing a lot?" Harry asked.
"A lot of my stuff goes missing. I usually get it all back before I go home." Harry did not like what he was hearing.
"How long has this been going on?" Harry asked.
"Since my first year. This is the end of my third year." Luna looked like she was going to cry. "They call me Loony Lovegood. My name is Luna Lovegood. The Weasleys, Ron and Ginny were the first to call me Loony and its stuck."
"IT ENDS NOW. Let's go to your common room and get your stuff back. On the train ride back to London, come sit with me."
"Like a friend? "Luna asked.
"As a friend," Harry replied. The pair set off for the Ravenclaw common room. Harry knew the quick way back. Luna, puzzled, followed. The sphinx took one look at Harry's eyes and opened the door. Harry strode into the centre of the room. The familiar smells that he remembered from just spending a day there flooded back. Harry felt a contentment there that he truly missed.
"Accio Luna Lovegood's possessions," Harry commanded. Harry could tell, without knowing how, that all the trunks belonging to Ravenclaw 5th years opened and spewed out Luna's possessions.
"Accio Luna Lovegood's trunk," Harry spoke clearly and her trunk soon arrived. Luna packed her things in her trunk and took it back to her dorm. By now all 10 of the 5th years were present.
"Stealing from Luna Lovegood stops now. Any repetition of it and I will kill you," Harry stated, bluntly.
"Just like you killed Cedric Diggory," one of the 5th year males said.
"I did not kill him. That was Peter Pettigrew."
"Someone who is dead," the 5th year Ravenclaw scoffed.
"He's very much alive. Check the Wall of Life. Continue to insult me and I have the absolute right to kill you where you stand."
"What's the meaning of this, Mr Potter?" Flitwick demanded.
"I've just done your job for you, Goblin." This Harry did not like Goblins. Harry was not too fond of them himself. Your 5th year has been stealing Luna Lovegood's possessions. She been losing things since her first year. They know not to repeat such behaviour."
"I cannot stop what I don't know about," Flitwick defended himself.
"There's a surprise another Hogwarts professor failing to do their job."
"That's 50 points from Gryffindor." Harry just laughed. He spent the day in Hogsmeade. He bought some food and chocolate for the train journey on the morrow. He bought a bottle of water, for the train, too. Harry packed his things away, including his pjs. He locked his trunk. Access required his blood. Harry ran into Neville, as he was leaving the Gryffindor common room. He invited Neville to sit with him on the train. Neville accepted.
Harry wrote a letter to Sirius at his London House telling him not to allow Dumbledore to use it as his HQ. Harry wanted to spend some alone time with Sirius, over the summer. He did not want company, except with Hermione. The memory of Hermione coming down the steps at the Yule Ball popped into Harry's mind. The hair and dress were, oh yes, they were stunning. Hedwig chirped or was that barked, excitedly. Harry told Hedwig to stay with Sirius.
Friday June 30th 1995 and Albus Dumbledore was off to see Gellert. He enjoyed their summers together. Minerva could deal with the paperwork and getting the old crew together. Before the last of the pupils had left for the station, Albus was gone.
Harry had eaten, grabbed his trunk, put the feather light charm on it and got on board the train for 9 am. He checked his trunk. His chocolates, food and bottle of drink were gone. So was some loose change that had been in the trunk on top of his pjs. Ron, this Harry supplied. Harry thought about the blood Ron would have needed. Where'd he get it from? How much did he have?
30 minutes later, Hermione entered the carriage. Harry helped her put her trunk up in the storage. They chatted about holiday plans. Hermione had a plan to contact Harry over the holidays. Just before 10 am, Harry asked Hermione Jean Granger if she'd do him the great honour of becoming his girlfriend. Hermione did not reply. Harry saw how her face was set. Neville arrived with Hannah Abbott and Susan Bones in tow. They sat down. They made small talk until 10:55 am, when Ron rushed in, dragging his trunk. He sat down between Harry and Hermione, forcing both to move. He was clutching the bottle of water Harry had bought the day before.
"Ron, before you sit down, you can explain how it is that you're holding the bottle of water I bought for this train journey and what happened to the other items I had put ready."
"Mate; I was hungry," Ron said, as though that explained everything.
"Access to my trunk requires my blood. You won't mind opening your trunk and turning out your pockets, now will you?" Harry had his wand out, pointing at Ron.
Ron turned out his pockets. Nothing. In his trunk, however, were three vials of Harry's blood, one partially used and three vials of Hermione's. Hermione gasped. Harry pocketed his three and gave Hermione hers.
Hermione grabbed Harry and kissed him full on the lips.
"Bloody Hell," Ron said. When that had no effect, he repeated it for good measure. That did not stop the kiss. "Mate, you know she's marked for me," anger now rising into his face.
"Yes, Harry James Potter, I will be your girlfriend," Hermione said. Just as the train started to pull out, Luna Lovegood stood at the carriage's doorway.
"Hello, Luna," Harry said. "Just in time. Ron's just leaving."
"You'd rather sit with Loony than with your best mate," Ron said, face now full of anger.
"You're not my best mate, Ron. I doubt
you ever really were. Yes, I'd rather sit with Luna, a friend, than a thief. Now, fuck off Ron, our friendship is officially over."
"You can forget about ever coming to the Burrow, ever again," Ron shouted as he left the carriage, dragging his trunk behind him.
"I shan't be visiting again, ever," Hermione added as Ron left the carriage.
"Oh, you'll be forced to," was Ron's rejoinder. Luna took her seat. Ron had taken the bottle of water with him. Harry was not happy about that. 8 hours on a train. No water. Not his favourite idea.
Harry sat down. "After all that excitement, Hermione agreed to become my girlfriend."
"That's not going to make Ginny happy. She's been going on about how she'll become Lady Potter."
"Lady Potter," Harry asked.
"Yes, Harry. You are Lord Potter. Did nobody tell you?" Luna asked. Suddenly, the cork necklace and wand over the right ear looked less ridiculous and more studious.
"No. Nobody ever told me. I'm going to need magical oaths from you all," Harry said, using colloportus on the door.
5 young wizards and witches gave their oaths. For nearly 8 hours, Harry talked. This Harry had had it much rougher than Harry. They now knew the life story of Harry Potter, right up to the point of the duel with Voldemort and the dementor sucking the soul of Barty, who had pretended to be Mad Eye Moody.
Harry had an encounter with the Slytherin Head Boy for the year. He tried to deduct 5 points for locking the carriage door. Harry told him that he no longer was Head Boy. He had left Hogwarts the moment he had left the school building.
Harry had reached the muggle part of King's Cross station. It was a Friday, so was extremely busy. Hermione rushed off to her parents, telling Harry not to go anywhere. Harry saw the Dursleys. All 3 of them. Oh joy. Molly Weasley was on her way over. Her face was red, full of anger.
"Remember where you are, Molly Weasley." Molly Weasley had stormed off. Harry summoned an invisible Dobby. "Retrieve my Vault Key." Moments later, he felt his Vault Key being pushed into his hand. He pocketed it. Hermione returned, breathless, ahead of her parents.
"This is a burner. My number is programmed in. Hit the call button and then press 1 and I'll be on the other end of the line. No contact. Dumbledore's orders can go to hell."
Hermione's parents, Dan and Emma arrived shortly after. On learning that Harry had never had a dental check-up, they offered him a slot at their surgery. They'd even come and collect him. Vernon came over to find out what was taking so long.
"The Doctors Granger are dentists. They've offered me a check-up. They'll even come and collect me. Isn't that good. I've one of their cards," Harry said, holding up a card.
"Yes, well, it's time we were off." Vernon seemed non-plussed. Harry got into the car. His trunk went in the boot. The journey passed in silence. At Durzkaban, the magical went into the cupboard under the stairs and Harry got locked in his room. Harry vowed this was not going to last.
The following morning found Harry still in this alternate version of his reality. He was up for 7am, but the Dursleys had already left. There was a £20 note on the top of the fridge with as note that told Harry they were gone for the month and he should eat at Mrs Figgs.
Harry left to do some shopping. He was stopped by three people who told him to go back inside. They, the Order of Phoenix, were protecting him as per instructions of Albus Dumbledore. Harry restrained himself from telling them what they could do with those instructions.
Harry went back inside. He was up in the attic. A few minutes later he was making the property Unplottable, Untraceable and Untrackable. He summoned Dobby. Dobby took the trunks down into his room and brought his magical stuff up from the cupboard. Harry grabbed 4 packs of sickles, Harry grabbed a cap from Dudley's room. He used magic to make it fit his head. He sneaked out of the back door. He said," This is not my home." He got away out of the back and summoned the Knight Bus. Harry used one of the sickle packs to go to Godric's Hollow. He went into the house he'd lived in as a baby.
Harry quickly cast the 4 spells his mother had crafted. He took the keys. A bombarda destroyed the plinth that had been outside his house and he'd evanescoed the pieces. Harry went to the parish church where his parents were buried. He said some words over their graves and spoke with the vicar. He'd been there the night two strangely dressed men had come and made him dig two graves and erect two headstones and conduct two funeral services. He was still awaiting made his way to the parish church where his parents had been buried. Harry
Harry sat for a while in the park. A lady came and gave him a bag, the 13th Edition of A History of Magic, with portkey and instructions for use. Harry then made his way to the solicitors. He said his business was the Potter estate and within minutes, Harry was in Ben's office. Ben, however, was not there. His son, Jason, was. Harry went through what he had, in his reality, in this reality. The keys were left so that reconstruction work could begin immediately. He left the bill the vicar had presented him and said it should be paid.
Harry then took the Knight Bus to Gringotts. He did not wait in line. He went to the tellers. One looked bored.
"I want to see Account Manager StoneAxe," Harry said.
"I'm busy," said Griphook.
"So summon someone, now!"
Harry demanded. Griphook did. In a few minutes, Harry was in the office of Account manager Stoneaxe. He remembered to place 2 knuts that he had in his pocket on the desk in front of Stoneaxe.
"About time you showed up, Potter. Answering my letters once in a while would be polite," Stoneaxe said.
"I've never received any of your letters. I feel sure my parents contracted with you to personally deliver letters to me. I'm under a mail redirect. You're in breach of contract both jointly and severally." Harry had no idea, if they were; he'd heard it in cop shows the Dursleys watched.
"Yes. We are. I can read some Wills, just not your parents. The Wizengamot sealed them We're not about to go to war over your parents' Wills. It was the same here as in his own reality. No access to the main vault until he was 21. No access to the Fleamont Vault until he was 18 and his birth name was Hadrian. That was different. He liked that name better than Harrison or Henry. His Evans' grandparents were squibs. Just the same.
Harry got to claim his Lord rings by inheritance and by conquest. Harry knew where the Peverell Lord ring was. He claimed his heir titles. House Black appeared. The account manager was the fearsome looking Blackfang. Harry was told he could use Lady Magic to claim his Wizengamot seats. Competing in the TriWizard Tournament for adults only had emancipated him. If the Wizengamot refused to recognize him, his family had created it and Harry could dissolve it. Harry gave a smile any Goblin would have been proud of.
Gringotts undertook to contact the Gnomes of Zurich to find out every overseas property, title and award Harry had inherited, without charge. Harry was told that if he hurried, he'd be able to make the Wizengamot's meeting that would start at 2pm.
Harry hurried into Knockturn Alley. He found that Ted Tonks had already left to get a seat in the Public Gallery. Harry found a wandmaker for his second wand. He chose an Elder Wood 10" wand with a tail feather from a thunderbird. For 200 galleons the wandmaker would make the wand, throw in a cleaning kit and holster. Harry said he was good for it.
"I know you are Lord Potter. If you hurry, you can just make the Wizengamot session. Give 'em hell, Lord Potter, give 'em hell."
Harry smiled as he ran to the Ministry. He knocked people aside. He ended up, by mistake in the Department of Mysteries. He saw the Wall of Life. Tom Marvolo Riddle and Peter Pettigrew both appeared on it. The Time Turners were all leased from House Potter and were one use, maximum 5 hours back. The third year use of a time-turner had been much more than that and obviously not a Ministry-held one.
Harry made it into Courtroom 10 with 5 seconds to spare. Augusta Longbottom was presiding as Acting Chief Warlock. She was wearing her ghastly, garish Vulture hat. Harry was panting in front of her as she declared the Wizengamot session open and called on all who had business before the Wizengamot to approach."
"Acting Chief Warlock, I have business to lay before the Wizengamot." Apparently, the Harry of this reality had been researching how to act in the Wizengamot.
"And who might you be, boy?" Augusta enquired. Harry did look like an Urchin. Harry transfigured what he was wearing into Wizengamot robes bearing the crests of House Potter, House Gaunt and House Black.
"I am Lord Hadrian James Potter, Lord of the House of Potter by inheritance, Lord of House Gaunt by right of conquest and Heir Black. I have come to take my Wizengamot seats by Lady Magic's permission."
"You have no right, you are but a boy," Minister Fudge declared.
"By virtue of competing in the TriWizard Tournamnet, for adults only, I am emancipated. I am the Lord of my House. Daedelaus Diggle and Emmeline Vance vacate my seats or die." Harry could feel the magic swirling around him."
"The Wizengamot barred House Potter from taking its seat in 1946," Lord Selwyn declared.
"Thank you for bringing up the Wizengamot's crimes against my family. The 1946 decision based on the 1919 Act banning Wizards from fighting in Muggle Wars. A treasonous Act. Wizards remain subject to the Monarch of the Day. The Wizengamot illegally made Albus too many fucking names Dumbledore my magical Guardian. It illegally sealed the Wills of my Parents.
Now, the Wizengamot will vote to repeal all said illegal Acts or I will use the power my family holds and dissolve the Wizengamot. I vote to repeal all four actions."
The Wizengamot spent ten minutes in uproar. The Speaker of the Law upheld Lord Potter's rights. In four votes the necessary majority voted to repeal. Harry's votes were taken rather than those of Dumbledore's interlopers. Harry required Diggle and Vance to be arrested on charges of Line Theft. Harry settled into his Potter seat.
"Do you have any further business to bring before the Wizengamot," Augusta asked politely.
"Yes, Acting Chief Warlock, I do. Minister Fudge used a dementor to administer the Kiss on Bartholemew Crouch Junior on the grounds of Hogwarts June 24th 1995. Illegal presence. Illegal kiss. Last year Minister Fudge accepted a claim by Severus Tobias Snape that Lord Sirius Orion Black used a confundus on myself, Hermione Jean Granger, Ronald Bilius Weasley and Remus Lupin. Remus Lupin is a werewolf and therefore immune to confundus. A fact Severus Tobias Snape knew. Lord Sirius Orion Black then Heir was denied trial before the Wizengamot as was his right. OI move claim to the entire Crouch estate as a result of the Line Theft of sending Sirius Orion Black to Azkaban without trial. The arresting officer was Cornelius Oswald Fudge. I doubt the then Heir Black was even arrested. I move a vote of no Confidence in the Minister."
For the second time that day, the Wizengamot was thrown into uproar. Eventually the proof that Sirius had never been arrested was produced. Sirius was declared released from Azkaban and all charges were dropped.
Fudge then claimed that Sirius murdered Pettigrew. Harry countered that he'd checked the Wall of Life. Pettigrew was on it. So was a Tom Marvolo Riddle. Harry said so. The vote to remove Fudge was close. Harry won by 1 vote. Harry watched Lucius Malfoy leave the public gallery. He knew what was coming.
Amos Diggory was then nominated to the position of Acting Minister. This was approved. He picked Arthur Weasley as his Senior Undersecretary. The previous Senior Undersecretary protested her removal. Harry waited for the hubbub to die down.
"After being whisked away by the Goblet of Fire, I found myself with a duel against Dark Lord Voldemort. That was after I was introduced to 30 Death Eaters whom I did not know. There are 11 of the 30 here present as Lords of the Wizengamot. These Lords are part of the Blood Feud House Potter has against Riddle and his Death Eaters. They are Lords Avery, Bulstrode, Flint, LeStrange, Nott, Parkinson, Rosier, Rowle, Travers, Yaxley, Crabbe and Goyle."
Harry did the 'Tom Marvolo Riddle' to 'I am Lord Voldemort' with his wand that "ghost" Riddle had done. This shocked some in the room.
"In addition, there are 10 Death Eaters in Azkaban. I demand they be also sent through the Veil." Harry now sat down. Amelia Bones sent Aurors to arrest the Lords of the Wizengamot, Harry had named. 21 Death Eaters were sent through the Veil. Harry was awarded voting rights for the 11 Lords arrested and executed. The voting rights for House Carrow were transferred to Harry. The rights to House Crouch were transferred to Harry as Heir Black. The lands and property were awarded to House Black. Harry now voted 16 seats of the Wizengamot. Harry had the support of the Bones, Longbottom, Ogden, Marchbanks, Greengrass and Davis seats, taking his tally to 22 votes.
The Noble House of Talbot questioned the awards of the Order of Merlin, First Class. After careful consideration it was determined that Albus Dumbledore's award had been made in error. It had been awarded for an action outside of Magical Britain. Pettigrew's was revoked for being a slimy Death Eater who had betrayed House Potter. The other three were found to have been awarded the Second Class, who should not have been eligible. In order of award, the new 5 were Minerva McGonagall, James Potter(posthumous), Lily Potter(posthumous), Frank Longbottom and Lily Longbottom. 2 of those were voted directly by Harry and two more by his Longbottom ally. Harry had 26 votes of 50, meaning on any vote requiring a simple majority, he was winning. Houses Abbott and MacMillan voted with Harry's alliance in several votes during the session. Without Dumbledore present to disrupt things, his usual proxies voted with Harry on substantive issues.
Dumbledore, himself, was out of communication until he returned to Hogwarts in the middle of August for the ICW meeting. He would only then learn that he had been replaced as Britain's representative by Ludo Bagman.
Voldemort took the loss of 21 Death Eaters rather personally. He had not forgiven Lucius Malfoy for losing his diary. He and Draco would be garbed in full Death Eater regalia and attack the home of Harry Potter's girlfriend, Hermione Jean Granger, after dark.
Harry spent time after the Wizengamot session, telling Amelia Bones who the other 19 Death Eaters in the Cemetery were. He then went to Gringotts, drew out 300 galleons and listened to the Wills of his parents. Remus Lupin received 5000 galleons and the right to live in the farm that he had lived in during his childhood that Charlus Potter had bought up. Unsurprisingly, Harry had never been intended to live with the Dursleys. Dumbledore had been a witness.
Harry had bought his second wand and caught the Knight Bus back to Little Whinging. That was his third journey. Hedwig was there with a letter. Harry read it. It was from Sirius. Harry was thanked for getting him cleared. Sirius had hired Remus to be Steward for both their Houses. Sirius was footing the bill. Harry noticed the Order of Phoenix gaolers skulking about. A call to the police and within half an hour they had been hauled away to the police station.
Harry phoned Hermione. He'd be staying over with them and having an evening meal. Harry had Dobby take the trunks to 12 Grimmauld Place. Dobby chose one of the third floor rooms that this reality's Harry had discussed with Sirius. It needed cleaning, so Dobby stayed to do that.
Harry had nothing, except his wand and the sheets containing the four spells that he took with him to the Grangers. The clothes on his back were about to fall apart. In the hour that Harry had to wait for the Grangers to come pick him up, he checked himself with detection spells. Harry made sure this reality's Harry knew them and how to counter the charms encountered. Harry removed them all, except the mail redirect. Had Albus been in his study at Hogwarts, he would have seen all the instruments he had tracking Harry cease to work, one after the other. As it was, he would not know until he returned.
The Grangers were shocked to see the state of Harry's clothes. They said nothing. The drive back was silence, except for Hermione talking to Harry. Harry nodded or shook his head in the right places. Harry was going to cast the spells as soon as they reached the Grangers' house. It was a six-bedroom mansion. It was getting dark by the time they got there, so Harry did not see it in all its glory. Hermione said they had a swimming pool. She said it seductively. Harry blushed, slightly. Hermione laughed, a rich full laugh. Dan Granger said there was no need for spells.
The meal was quick and easy. A stew with mashed potatoes and peas. Desert was treacle tart, Harry's favourite. The conversation, light and easy. Harry felt refreshed. This was normal. The Dursleys were not. The Weasleys were not, either. Seven children was not normal in either muggle nor wizarding society.
Harry had a guest room. He would sleep naked. Around midnight, he awoke and decided to go skinny dipping. He was swimming, when he saw Hermione arrive at the pool. She was carrying towels and stripped out of her pjs. This reality Harry really appreciated what he was seeing. Harry was rather pleased his erection was not visible to Hermione. She dove into the water. There was plenty of kissing and hands exploring bodies. Then Harry caught a glimpse of two figures in the moonlight approaching the house. Lucius and Draco Malfoy had been delayed coming on their mission to kill the muggles and take Hermione Granger back to the Dark Lord for some 'fun'.
Harry got out of the pool. He grabbed his wand from the table, he'd left it on, thanking whatever Gods had made him take it with him. The pair advanced, Harry had been neither heard nor seen. Harry could hear Mr Granger calling out Harry and Hermione. The paid had seen Mr granger and were preparing to fire a spell at him. Harry cast a bombarda at them, which hit sending both sprawling in different directions. Lucius Malfoy was first to his feet, catching a reductor in the chest. Draco managed to get off a killing curse, which Harry dodged by dropping to the ground. From a prone position, Harry fired another reducto taking Draco in the mouth before exploding out of the brain.
A letter appeared telling Harry he was expelled from Hogwarts for using Underage magic and an Auror squad would be arriving shortly to snap his wand. An Auror squad duly appeared, apparating into the Grangers' garden. A still naked Harry shouted, I'm emancipated, you morons."
No effect. The Aurors still advanced, all four clustered together. Harry's wand grew warm as though encountering resistance to removing the trace. For the second time that night a bombarda sent people sprawling. 4 reductos were sent at the four and another four corpses fell to the ground. Mr Granger arrived and handed Harry a kimono with a kimodo dragon on it. Harry gratefully put in on. It was one of Dan's old ones.
Harry rushed inside and reached his room and the four spells. Three of them were cast, quickly and accurately. No-one would be popping in. Harry did not consider certain people whom the Grangers considered allowable to visit. If he had, the scene that morning would have been avoided.
About 7 am, Harry was awakened by the sound of the front door bell being repeatedly pressed. Harry put on his kimono and grabbed his wand before heading downstairs. He arrived to find Mr Granger giving McGonagall a dressing down.
McGonagall was explaining the need to find Harry Potter who had gone missing. Dan was having none of it, telling her in no uncertain terms that where Harry was, was none of her business.
"Mr Granger, if you know where Harry is, please tell me," McGonagall begged.
Dan considered tormenting the woman some more, but relented. "Harry is standing right behind you."
McGonagall turned to face Harry. "Harry, you must return to the Dursleys."
"Never going to happen, McGonofail. School's out, in case you hadn't noticed. On the subject of school, I'm dropping Divination. I am sick and tired of being told I'm going to die every lesson by some sherry grizzled failure of a teacher. I'll be taking Ancient Runes and Arithmancy, like Hermione. I'll be giving up quidditch."
McGonagall looked like she was going to have kittens. She straightened. "Very well, Lord Potter, you'll have exams in those subjects to see if you have made up the ground, in the first few days back."
Hermione looked like the cat who had caught the canary. Her face could openly be described as being in a state of bliss. She would get to tutor Harry some more. McGonagall left.
About 5 minutes later and she was back with three Weasleys in tow. Arthur, Molly and Ronald.
Ron Weasley spoke before anyone else could, "It's time to leave Hermione, it's not safe for you here. I'm here to take you to the Burrow."
"No, Ron, I am going nowhere with you," Hermione said.
"You've no choice," Ron said. "I've claimed you."
"Claimed?" Hermione queried.
"Yes, this morning. As a pureblood I can do such things."
"No, Ron, you cannot," Harry said, evenly. "You and your friends can leave now or die," Hary said, bringing his wand up. I've killed six already and I'll add you, if you don't leave."
For a moment, it appeared as if Hermione would take the step that would have bound her to Ron Weasley. Ron's and Harry's magic warred, before Hermione's resolve stiffened. Harry's magic won.
The four left.
"The spell is supposed to only allow those who normally come to the house to know where it is. That means no-one from Hogwarts, except me and definitely no Weasleys."
Harry could feel the Grangers make those changes. They remembered to let Hermione know.
"Ron's magic was stronger, somehow," Hermione said.
"He really was our Wormtail," Harry said, without emotion. Hermione nodded and then hugged him. Later Harry went to check on the corpses. The Malfoys did not surprise him one little bit. Their dark marks were almost glowing. Harry evanesced the bodies. The wands, he kept. He did the same to the four Aurors: Dawlish, Jones, Smith and Alywyn. He kept their wands, too, but that was for Amelia Bones' records.
Amelia Bones had a problem. There were four aurors missing. It took her a while on Sunday to find out what they had done. They had apparently gone, without orders to investigate an underage use of magic at the Grangers house. Only it was Harry Potter's magical signature that registered. That made no sense as Harry Potter, Lord Potter was emancipated.
Mafalda Hopkirk was unconcerned when she was summoned to see Amelia Bones, her boss. She became more concerned when Amelia took her monocle out. She never did that, unless someone was about to receive a bollocking.
"You issued an underage warning with advice to Lord Potter that his wand was about to be snapped. I saw you in Courtroom 10, so you knew Harry Potter to be emancipated. What is the meaning of this?"
"Mr Potter's wand is still registering for the Trace," Mafalda began. "This was the second infraction."
"Ah yes, the hover charm. You should be aware that Hogwarts students don't learn that charm until year three. So it could not have been Lord Potter who cast the spell. He would not have known it."
"I don't think," Mafalda began.
"No, you don't," Amelia agreed. "I'm down four Aurors because of your lack of thought. I would have appreciated knowing there was someone else present in the Potter residence who cast spells with his magical signature."
"Albus Dumbledore did not think it worthwhile disturbing you over something so trivial."
"He thought wrongly," Amelia said. "So, too, did you. You're through. You are fired, effective immediately." Mafalda left the Ministry a broken women. Amelia had some positions to fill. Robards was Head Auror. Amelia was not moving him. Rufus Scrimgeour would head up the Misuse of Magic and Magical and Muggle Artifacts. An up and coming muggleborn would take on the position of Head Obliviator on account of Scrimgeour moving. She went to check the Wall of Life. Sure enough, her four Aurors were not on it. Amelia suspected that a certain whiskered wanker who fancied himself the second coming of Merlin was the reason for the blocked trace on Lord Potter's wand. Aamelia suspected she was down four Aurors because OF HIS MEDDLING. When he returned from where ever he was, Amelia would throw the book at him.
Lord Voldemort's weekend had started so well. Marcus Flint had taken the Dark Mark. He had tortured a young muggle girl to death. Her screams had been music to Voldemort's ears. It had been too long since such sounds had filled the Dark Lord's court. 30 new Death eaters were awaiting their turn to take the Dark Mark. There were another 40 behind those were Severus' reports true.
Things began to go haywire after Voldemort allowed the Malfoys to go off on their mission. They had not returned. Voldemort and his Death Eaters found themselves outside the wards of the Malfoy estate. The Malfoys had failed and had died, depriving him a chance to cruciate them. Worse, his would-be Death Eaters had vanished. He quickly retired to his Riddle Mansion with his 20 Death Eaters. Snape was on his summer holidays and the Carrows were in France. Nagini was on patrol. Voldemort would not be caught napping, again.
Minerva McGonagall considered her Sunday a success. True she had struck out on Harry Potter and Sirius and Remus had resigned from the Order of the Phoenix and refused to be part of it. A couple of new recruits had been instrumental in ensuring Daedulus Diggle and Emmeline Vance did not end up in Azkaban. They were Kingsley Shacklebolt, a well-respected Auror and Nymphadora Tonks who had newly qualified as an Auror.
Amelia Bones realised she had Order of the Pheonix vigilantes operating in her Department, when Diggle and Vance did not arrive at Azkaban. That the 18 Death Eaters still on the run had all worked for her, had spooked Amelia Bones. Some she had considered friends. Telling the French that they had the Carrows operating in their country was at least something.
Harry grabbed his clothes out of the bin. He explained he needed to go to Guildford and the clothes were there to make a point. The Grangers agreed. The following morning, the post arrived with a cheque book and bankers card for Harry. Dan drove him and Hermione to Guildford. Harry had already done this once. He knew whom to see and what buttons to push. His account was £13000 better off. Harry was done for lunchtime. Hermione had been dropped off at a bookstore. She did a tour of the bookstores.
Harry spent the afternoon shopping. He spent £200 on new muggle clothing. He got some good deals. He felt it money well spent. Dan Granger agreed with him. Harry even managed a free eye test and would be getting a prescription that actually fitted him. Dan filed that away in his growing list of charges the Dursleys would face. Hermione spent all her £20 book allowance. She did get a new dress, so she wasn't outdone. Dan was just happy to spend time with his daughter. That was happening less and less these days. This was the first summer they had spent together since Hermione had started Hogwarts.
Dan reflected on the time they had hosted the dreadful Ron Weasley. Table manners that would shame a pig and his lack of personal hygiene would fill volumes. Dan was so pleased that Hermione had stood up to him. He was equally pleased she was Harry's girlfriend. Hermione's letters had been so full of Harry that, frankly, he'd been shocked when she had invited Ron Weasley. They'd both been expecting her to invite Harry. Even two years on, it still made him angry.
Tuesday and Harry wanted the Grangers to go to 12 Grimmauld Place. They would be safe there. It took some convincing, but eventually Harry persuaded them. They were packed to go off to France, so packing did not take much time.
Grimmauld Place was not what Harry expected. It was in the London Borough of Islington and re-gentrification was happening. None of that was something Harry knew about. He certainly was not prepared for the vulgar assault on him by portrait Walburga.
Lord Sirius Black proudly wore his Lord ring for the Nobel and Most Ancient House of Black. Remus was wearing the ceremonial robes of a Steward of said House. He was Steward of Harry's holdings, too.
"Lady Walburga, the Grangers must be squibs to even see this place. Stop your attacks on them."
Harry was about to say something, when he felt his scar hurting. He let the pain guide him to a cabinet. Inside was Slytherin's locket. Harry summoned Dobby. He had the house-elf go get a venom coated fang, but not to hold it. Dobby brought one. Harry opened the locket using parseltongue and then destroyed it. Sirius provided a specially coated bag to hold it.
Harry told Remus and Sirius about a cup in Bellatrix' Vault. Remus took another of those special bags and went to retrieve it. Whilst Remus did that, Harry bound Dobby to his family's service. Dobby then brought Winky, who was similarly inducted.
Remus returned with the cup, which Harry destroyed, using the fang.
"Where did you get a basilisk fang and how come you can hold it?" Sirius asked.
"From the basilisk I killed in the Chamber of Secrets in second year. The venom's in my blood, countered by Phoenix tear or two," Harry answered.
"What basilisk?" Sirius asked.
"The one in the Chamber of Secrets. The Chamber you did not find?" Harry said, smugly.
"How large was it?" Sirius asked.
"I did not stop to measure it," Harry said.
"The Dwarves of Dundee would pay a fortune for it," Sirius said. Harry sent Hedwig off to deliver a message to the Dwarves. Neither considered selling it to the Goblins.
Remus returned from Gringotts with 1000 galleons. He had the cup with him, which Harry destroyed. Winky was good at cleaning as the Grangers found with their rooms cleaned for them. Kreacher showed Harry almost reverential awe. That was much to Sirius' surprise.
Harry cast the three spells of his mother. Harry explained that they made the property phoenix and house-elf proof. The Grangers asked about the history of House Black. Sirius was happy to comply. Sirius spoke about his House's long dark history. The Grangers were fascinated. A secret world hiding from the normal world. They said they wanted to go to the south of France. Sirius had a manor down there. Dobby and Winky would go clean it for the Grangers. The years of grime in Sirius' town house had been cleared in double quick time.
Sirius had Kreacher pick up 2 years' worth of textbooks for Ancient Runes and Arithmancy. Hermione told Harry to do all the assignments for both years, whilst she would be sunning herself in the South of France. They departed Friday. Harry met up with the Dwarves in Hogwarts. The dwarves measured the basilisk. They'd offer 5 million plus two suits of basilisk armour. They'd take the skins, too. Harry accepted. He also destroyed Rowena's diadem, whilst he was there. Minerva could do nothing about it. By Monday the Dwarves had cut up the basilisk and taken it all away. Harry also thanked Myrtle for her help in the second task. Myrtle preened. She was almost alive again after Harry said she'd do a better job than Binns. She said something about tenure that he lacked. Harry summoned the Sword of Gryffindor, as he was leaving.
Remus had a load of papers for Sirius and Harry to sign. Sign they did. Harry worked through the 40 assignments that Hermione had left him to do. He did have help in the form of his mother's assignments and annotated text books. Harry found he understood what the runes wanted to do and spell crafting was, well, addictive. Harry could see the flow of magic. For the first time, he could understand the realm of Magic.
Friday evening and he went after the Ring and Nagini. The Ring was surrounded by snakes. They were not clearing out of the way, the way they had during Harry's first encounter. Well, Riddle was in the Manor House up the hill. The Sword of Gryffindor got plenty of use. Nagini, Harry froze in mid-strike and then beheaded the snake. Harry was laughing as he departed Little Hangleton. Riddle would be beside himself with anger.
Indeed, the Dark Lord killed two of his number and severely wounded four others. The Gaunt shack was no more. He knew that horcrux had gone. Riddle could do nothing about it as he had lost his soul that Halloween in 1981. Not for the first time, Tom cursed the name of Harry Potter.
Remus checked Harry's work. He was impressed. The writing was a lot neater than he remembered Harry's being. Harry had his study interrupted as Remus and Sirius put him through his DADA work. Harry found it useful. He would soon be killing both Dumbledore and Riddle. This time, he would not be leaving Aberforth Dumbledore alive. He'd be moving a blood feud with the so-called leader of the Light.
House Dumbledore had almost made Houses Black and Potter extinct. It was not going to be around to see the revival. Harry signed the papers for Remus to drop into the Ministry on Monday. Harry selected a mannequin for his Invisibility Cloak that had rather too many added strands or threads.
That Monday Harry flooed up to Hogsmeade and made his way to the Hog's Head that was owned by Aberforth. This wizard had held his own in a three-way combat with Gellert Grindelwald and Albus Dumbledore. Aberforth was no slouch. No push over.
Harry cast darkness so that Aberforth could not see him enter. He then waited for the wizard to unleash spells hoping to catch him. Harry rolled in and came up firing off a lumos maxima. Harry then unleashed a torrent of reductos on benches Aberforth might be hiding behind. Harry just failed to land a serious blow. Aberforth now tried talking his way out.
"Snape overheard two lines of a prophecy and told Voldemort." This Harry had heard a prophecy and knew that was not how prophecy was given. It was not even enough to get Snape under his wand. Harry was not getting distracted here. Harry carried on using spells. His reputation for the Disarming Curse had preceded him. Aberforth was very confused. His area of safety was getting a lot smaller.
Harry cast the disarming curse and Aberforth was not quick enough to stop it. Harry cast 4 reductos that sliced Aberforth open. Aberforth had slid down the wall until he was sitting in a pool of his own blood.
"House Dumbledore has nearly exterminated House Black and Potter this century. For this reason, a Blood Feud has been called. Reducto." Aberforth's head exploded. Harry snapped his wand. An evanesco later and neither wizard nor wand remained. Harry left. The Hog's Head was a ruin.
Harry ate lunch. Sirius and Remus noted Harry's detachment. That afternoon, Harry used a mannequin and his Invisibility Cloak. He held the four spells in his free hand. He spoke the words that activated the portkey.
Arriving at Nurmengard, Harry spoke the four spells. Gellert came racing into the room. Harry hit him with a reductor that hit him straight through the heart and an evanesco. Harry set the Mannequin up and moved away, disillusioned. Dumbledore came in at a sedate pace. He 'saw' the Cloak and fired a spell. The mannequin was destroyed. Harry caught Dumbledore with a diffindo that killed him. Harry took the Elder wand. He reclaimed Charlus' time-turner. Then he cast evanesco and the world's greatest wizard since Merlin was vanished. Harry was master of Nurmengard, again. He removed the various tracked threads that had been added to his Cloak. The portkey took him back.
Amos Diggory, acting Minister for Magic was looking at the Wall of Life. One moment, Albus Dumbledore's name was there in all its finery and next, it was gone. Amos immediately went to Amelia Bones and told her to mobilise the Auror corps. She did. She did not tell Amos that the Potter Blood Feud with House Dumbledore was no longer active. She already knew that Aberforth and Albus Dumbledore were dead and at the hands of Lord Potter. She was sure the deaths had not happened in Magical Britain. As such, they were not her problem.
That evening, after dinner Harry was in the sitting room with Sirius and Remus.
"Tonight, we end this. I know where Riddle and his Death Eaters are holed up. They are at Riddle Manor in Little Hangleton." It was a Manor, here, not a Hall. A difference from home.
"What's your plan of attack?" Sirius asked, suddenly serious.
"Anti-apparation wards," Harry said.
"You'll need four of them," Remus said.
"We'll plant them," Sirius said.
Dobby was sent to Longbottom Manor to ask for the gift of a mandrake like they had reported in second year. Neville sent one along.
Sirius had Wizengamot finery made for Harry. He also had a battle wizard's attire created for Harry. Harry was wearing the Peverell ring. To one of the House, there was no dark magic released claiming it. Dobby knew what he had to do, when they reached Riddle Manor. The four donned ear muffs. Sirius and Remus side-apparated Harry. Sirius and Remus went off to set the anti-apparation wards. Harry gave them time. 5 minutes later, the wards were set and Harry motioned Dobby to go into the Manor. Dobby did. The anti-apparition wards did not prevent house-elf apparition.
Dobby popped in, pulled the mandrake out that emitted a high-pitched shriek, only Riddle escaped. Harry used his own wand to cast two fiendfyres that enveloped the whole Manor.
Tom ran in front of where Harry was disillusioned. Harry made himself visible.
"Going somewhere, Tom? Now, we duel." Tom snarled. This time Harry Potter would die. He cast the killing curse. Harry countered with the disarming curse. Both were using their own brother wands. As had happened the last time the two duelled in Little Hangleton, a lattice formed. With his spare hand, Harry pulled out the Elder wand, "Reducto maxima."
That was the end of Lord Voldemort, dead at Harry's hand. Voldemort was not finished yet. A black mist arose from his body and hit Harry's scar. The pain was excruciating. Harry was losing. Harry thought about something Dumbledore had said about Love being the power Tom knew not. Harry let his thoughts and feelings for Hermione come to the fore. They flooded his being and the presence of Riddle could not withstand them Harry forced Riddle from his body. Sirius and Remus found Harry on his knees, smiling.
"Why are you smiling, pup?" Sirius asked. Harry removed his ear muffs and Sirius repeated the question.
"Thinking about Hermione," Harry responded. Dobby popped back into the group.
"Is he gone?" Remus asked.
"Dead and gone, Harry said, picking up the brother wand and vanishing the body. Dobby had collected the anti-apparition wards and the four returned to 12 Grimmauld Place.
Kreacher had never heard a house-elf being praised before. Even his Master whom Kreacher hated was praising Dobby. Dobby asked permission to marry Winky. Harry agreed, saying that he hoped to soon hear the tiny patter of the feet of baby house-elves.
"Will they be free house-elves," Winky wanted to know.
"That's up to them. It will not change how I treat you all." Harry had both house-elves hugging a leg each. 12 Grimmauld Place listened to something unusual. The sound of laughter.
Harry woke up the following day, still in Grimmauld Place. He'd expected to be in his own time and place, on holiday in America. Obviously, he was not finished. He had not killed Snape, House Slytherin or Ron Weasley. Okay that was work still outstanding. Those people wanted him dead. Harry would get them first.
Harry went back to his course work preparing for his catch-up exams. Sirius and Remus continued to hone Harry's DADA skills. Harry wanted to get all 40 assignments done for when Hermione came home. Home? Since when had Harry thought of 12 Grimmauld Place as home? Harry smiled and continued with his assignments.
